Aimi walked through the wilds of the Water Country with his arms crossed over his chest, singing a song full of nonsense words and enjoying the shade beneath the trees. It was an exceptionally rare occasion that he found himself outside of the Kirigakure on such a relatively easy mission, and he planned on making the most of it. He was actually finished with his mission! It'd been simple, really. A lowly C rank that required only that he pay a visit to a merchant in the mainland who had been previously inclined to refuse payment to the Kirigakure. He hadn't even needed to draw his sword once he found the woman. She'd given up the money she owed quietly enough, though her constant mumbling and complaining had annoyed him greatly. All in all though, the mission had gone smoothly without a hitch.

It was on his way back to the village that he'd heard a strange rumor. There he'd been, sitting at a small tea shop along the way, eating some lunch when a couple of old men sitting behind him openly mused about the appearance of some large, nude woman in the surrounding area as of late. They were under the impression that she was a spirit and a bad omen, that she'd damage their crops or make them infertile or something. They were scared of what it might mean. He on the other hand was... curious. If it was a spirit of some sort, such opportunities in life were quite rare! Seeing an actual spirit in the world of the living, wild, unfettered and free, was an experience that he practically needed to be a part of. Listening to the old men speak, his envy of them having seen or heard something he hadn't that interested him flared up, and a decision was made right then and there.

He'd left the tea shop with the intent of finding this nude spirit, or having it find him. He was willing to spend up to three days out there even, as the village was no doubt expecting that his mission might very well take 5 or even 6 days. Really, he'd been lucky to find the female merchant when he had. It cut the mission time by almost ninety percent, so he had the rest of the time to himself to spend as he liked. Walking through the forest, singing loudly and hunting for spirits seemed like as good of a way to spend his time as any! In his mind, it was an adventure to discover something new and exciting! How could he possibly pass up the chance?

"We're getting too close to the surrounding clans, Katsu. You're able to destroy as you please but should they send their dogs even you'll fall to the pack." Kori stood by a small creek on hind as if a human. His words were accented by little gestures that betrayed his own annoyance. "And, loathing you, I'd rather you stay alive." The feral woman was splashing water onto herself in a simple bath. Dirt and grime being washed away from her. Even the scythe-like tail was being used to scrape it off. "I know, but Bear needs supplies and there's only so many places it can be gotten from. Logs and vines make decent structures, but you know those two." A huff was her answer from the beast.

As Katsu splashed in the cool waters she began to hear something over the air. Someone was. . . singing. The disjointed tune rung in her ears roughly and she stopped all movement. A hand gestured for the dragon to remain silent as well, causing him to lower down and start to slink towards the trees. Katsu herself made small steps out of the water until she was able to climb a tree, bringing the dragon with her. The two looked at each other and seemed to understand perfectly as they both began to move slowly in the direction of the noise.

Branches rustled as she grew closer to the sound. Eventually a scent came over the air and she knew she was getting close. A man, but anything else was undetermined as of yet. She slowed as she grew closer to him, using her ears to pin point his location. The dragon dismounted and began to circle the tree to get him into view. A simple signal told Katsu that he was there. She moved around and looked herself.

There he was, a single man carrying a simple blade. He wore nothing but a cloth over his genitals. As she looked at him she sized up his body, taking in everything she could. He looked fit, plenty of meat on him. His arms and core showed signs of work. However, the blade was simple. She doubted he could match her if she could get past the weapon. If she couldn't, he would likely not be fast enough to catch her. Should be simple.

She began to weigh her options for the kill. Not only was this man too close to her territory but he was also carrying a weapon. However, it was less likely that he'd be from the village. Possibly a farm hand or even just another wanderer. His lack of clothing was confusing but also gained him a little respect in her mind. The kill might just be fun. The wicked blade was raised and she moved closer, crawling down the opposite side of the tree. Instinct overriding her brazen mentality atm.

Ground level she felt her mouth begin to water. Her mind was racing with potential take downs to keep it quiet for now. However, a clawed paw rested on her shoulder. "That's not needed. . . yet. Be smart ya dull creature." She gave him a glare before realizing he was right. Something was taking her instinct. There was no reason to strike. Not yet anyway. He was likely just some farm hand that wandered away for a nap. She just needed to ward him off.

Taking a deep breath Katsu forced the wicked blade down and came from behind the tree, approaching in plain sight. "Not exactly a good place for a nap out here. Bears wander and without protection or being used too it the spiders can put ya in a world of hurt." She made no attempt to hide anything, except the wicked tail. That, she made every effort too keep perfectly behind her. Hopefully she succeeded.

Placing his hand on a tree, Aimi poked his head around it and looked about the forest, still singing his nonsense words in a language that only he understood as he was making it up as he went along. His blue eyes surveyed only shade and sunlight in the trees, the dark greens and browns of the forest on the midst of summer bloom revealing no spirit of any sort. He looked from side to side before stepping away from the tree and changing direction. In between singing, he listened to the forest at large. Mostly there was quiet, a gentle breeze making the leaves rustle or the buzzing of an insect was all that he heard as his singing made the birds go quiet as most any animal would when a loud, unfamiliar sound intruded their space. The further into the forest he went, the more he felt enchanted. It was almost like being placed in a genjutsu or a dream, being in this forest, and that was exciting! Somewhere, a brook babbled.

Stepping into a patch of sunlight, the Yamai stopped to survey his surroundings, his left hand resting on the pommel of his blade. He thought to himself that he might climb a tree and look around to see if he couldn't get his bearings, or spot where he couldn't set up camp for the evening should his searching go on unsuccessfully. For the moment, he was content to stand in the sunlight and let it warm his skin while he sang. He closed his eyes and tilted his head up towards the broken spot of the treeline where the sky bled through, imagining that his singing was attracting the spirit he sought. He was reminded of a story that his mother told him not long after he'd found her. The story was about a young slave who, lost in the mist, trying to return to their master, began to weep and sing to themselves for comfort. The spirits, watching over this slave, took pity on them, and sent a trail of will o' wisps to guide his path, leading him back to his home, and freedom. A slave's tale of comfort.

One could only imagine his surprise, though, when another voice cut through the afternoon air. He opened his eyes and lowered his head, turning towards the origin of the spoken voice. There she stood, appearing as if out of thin air to answer his illiterate call. Had he actually summoned her? What struck him immediately were her eyes and hair, both of which shone with red light, dull though it was in the afternoon sun. She was nude, like the men had said, and she looked quite wild! He was unsure if she was a spirit, though. True her eyes and hair gave her a bit of an ethereal quality, but he somehow imagined that in an encounter with a spirit, the spirit would be much more... insubstantial. She had presence. She was larger than he was, she cast a shadow in the light of day. She was there, not half there like he'd been lead to believe some spirits were.

He at first didn't hear, or rather didn't comprehend, her words. They took a moment to be deciphered inside of his head, a quiet moment where the hum of the forest became very apparent. A warning against bears and spiders. Were there even bears in this country? What of lions and tigers? He had the feeling that he was being threatened subtly. It was her body language that tipped him off. She seemed tense, as though she were waiting for something, or holding back. "Guten Tag, Geist," he greeted, raising his right hand up in a simple salute. He'd found what he came out here to find, now it was simply a matter of a question - what had he found? He stayed still in the sunlight, the white of his hair almost blinding to look at, his left hand staying relaxed on the pommel of his blade.

This man's body language was strange. He was free yet reserved. It was almost as this laid back attitude was a mask for something. His features spoke of physical ability, and his smell told tails of a warrior's diet. From the looks of him he was no simple farmhand, yet he also lacked the markings of a warrior in significant way. At least, the markings of a shinobi. His lack of clothing and seemingly random nature was off putting, but also inviting. Katsu suspected treachery afoot and proceed with caution.

His words caught her ears but she lacked understanding. They weren't the words of common people, nor were they the language of the gods. Confusion spread across her face as she tried to decode them but to no avail. As a low hiss came from around the tree she had approached from she held her hand at her side stiffly, telling Kori to stay back for now. When she spoke, it was slow and direct. "Are you lost?" She lifted a single hand to show she was unarmed, as if it was needed with her nudity. However, she kept her tail hidden directly behind her back, in case an ambush was waiting.

A hiss? Had he heard correctly? Had it come from her? Aimi wasn't sure what he'd heard just then. Perhaps it was just the breeze again, whistling through the tree branches. He ultimately discarded the thought of the sound and focused instead on her. The Yamai turned fully towards the larger woman, his face soft and his eyes curious. He kept his gaze on her face rather than letting it trail over her body as another man might have. His attention was captured by her eyes. He simply just... couldn't get a feel for them, not properly. Something was mystic and wild and intriguing about the red gaze which met his blue, something that he wasn't quite yet able to figure out but that he wanted to know with a growing desperation.

"No, not lost. Seeking, but found," he told her, lifting his left hand off of his pommel and pointing it at the naked woman. "There's some locals about who have been saying you're a spirit or some sort of bad omen who haunts these woods. I've never seen a spirit before, so I just had to know - are you?" he asked her, the bluntness and curiosity both blatant in his voice. He had his doubts, but he needed to hear it from her own lips to be certain. Depending on her answer and the continuation of her mannerisms, he'd likely pursue some sort of dialogue with this mysterious woman. If nothing else, he could tail her for a couple of days to sate his own curiosity before returning back to the village. He somehow doubted that she'd be adept enough to spot him in this dense foliage if he actually tried to put his shinobi training to good use for once.

Katsu took a step back as he spoke and found her back to the tree she had rounded. She listened to each word, looking for a potential threat in his voice. However, he gave away nothing but honesty, at least her her senses. A slight relief came to her. "A spirit? Good." When she spoke she actively changed her voice inflection slightly. If what this guy said was true, she might be able to scare him off instead of fight or otherwise. After all, he hadn't attacked yet. "Spirit?"

She took a step forward now and allowed the wicked blade to come from behind her back around her ankles. "Could say that." Her eyes drifted slightly towards the skies. "I'm rather fond of Gaia though." She lifted her head up and took in a deep breath, letting her chest rise and fall to show off her stature. "And you're in my territory." Her eyes lowered and were now deadly serious. Inside, the feral woman desperately hoped he just left with the same idea.

Aimi's eyes darted down at the first sign of movement from behind the woman, spotting the blade that was now circling her ankles. A tail? That was another point for the spirit column. He'd never trusted the phrasing 'you could say that' though. It always, 100% of the time, implied that there was more to be said and it seemed that, in his experience, 100% of the time people didn't speak up unless prodded. His eyes returned back to her face. He didn't know what this 'Gaia' was, but he recognized a threat when he heard one. When her eyes returned back down to him, they would find that his entire face was different. Gone was the soft curiosity he had held, replaced by a hard, stoic expression and a pair of cold eyes. Were she any sort of observant, she'd know instantly he didn't take kindly to idle threats.

"And?" he asked bluntly, he expression unchanged. "You can put whatever that is away," he told her, waving his left hand dismissively without looking away from her face before returning it back to its place on his pommel. "I didn't come here for some sort of fight or to take away your 'territory'. I came of my own accord to sate my own curiosity, and I intend to sate it. Nothing more." His words were sincere and his tone remained as it had before his change in expression, and yet his face did not soften. His display was identical to hers, the statement to a claim of purpose; territory and curiosity. He stayed as relaxed as he could, ready to snap at a moment's notice if need be, though he hoped it didn't come to that.

As his hand came to rest on the pommel of his weapon her tail rose to chest level. She let it dance in the air but made no outwardly aggressive move. The ruby radiation grew brighter slightly when she spoke. "What do you want to know?" She said plainly.

He watched her tail bob back and forth, seeing that it was indeed a tail now that it was rose up in plain view. His gaze quickly returned to her face, the brighter look of intensity not lost on him. "Simple," he said, shrugging his right shoulder and lifting up his right hand, palm towards the sunlit sky. "Who you are, what you are, what you're doing here, where you came from, what you do here, why you're here in the first place - the usual suspects. If something comes up that's of more interest, I'd let you know."

The woman listened hard to him, trying to hear a heartbeat. The distance made it impossible, however there were other tells. He didn't back down in the least, instead pressing his questions on. He wasn't a farmer or random merc. in these parts either. He was a trained soldier or an idiot. The former more likely judging by his build, weapon, and lack of armor or other significant gear. It had only just now dawned on her that he was naked except for a loincloth, and that that should be unusual.

Another his came from behind the tree and once more the woman silenced it as she kept her attention towards this man. However, the his turned into a low growl that didn't stop, merely waited. Doing her best to ignore it she took another step forward. Gaia, guardian, helping, the land, keep people away, and passing through. That should answer your questions. Now, you're not one of the local farmers or their help. Nor are you some wandering mercenary. Either way it doesn't matter. I'd suggest you be on your way." Her muscles rippled as the blade tucked back behind her and vanished from sight once more.

Once again he heard the hiss and the growl that came after it, and he had to wonder if she was making those noises or if there some something else among them. It was difficult to tell as when she spoke the growling continued, but she hadn't really answered any of his questions either. Single word responses were hardly descriptive answers, and her shortness, mannerisms and territorial behavior made it quite clear that she didn't want him there. Not that he really cared either way. She could flex and suggest that he left all she wanted, but his mind was stubbornly made up; he wasn't leaving until he'd gotten what he came for.

"What's Gaia? Guardian of what? Helping what or whom? Does that mean you're a spirit after all? If you're passing through why do you care to keep people away?" he asked, firing his questions just as rapidly as she'd given him answers. He took in a shallow breath and let out a sigh, trying to pick his next words more carefully. Proud and stubborn as he was, he wasn't stupid either. Her body language said it all, and as stubbornly stoic as he was being, he hadn't come here for a fight. "See? You didn't answer anything. I'm not a farmer or a mercenary, just a curious man chasing a local legend. No need to be so inhospitable."

Frustration was becoming apparent as she began to growl deep in her chest. This stubborn bastard was testing her patience. The air around her began to grow thick with the parasitic chakra. She took another step forward and the sounds of cracking bones could be heard from the woman. She winced and growled more until she was merely 10 feet from him. "You must be a dog in the village pack. Only reason you're testing me this hard." She winced and grunted against as from behind two small nubs could be seen. The sound of tearing flesh and cracking bones became louder.

Kori peaked his head out from behind the tree and witnessed Katsu's rage begin to build. Even he knew they were dealing with a Kiri nin by this point, but he wasn't sure if he was a hunter or mere whelp beneath the head of state that happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Either way, with her growing more agitated and the red glow that surrounded her now, she would doubtlessly be discovered. His own hissing grew louder now as he came from around the tree and barked at the man. If a feral bitch wouldn't send him packing, then perhaps a dragon would and they could be on their way.

As Kori came around the tree Katsu finally turned her attention to look. Spotting him caused an instant reaction. The wings formed lightning quick as she screamed and darted for the dragon, placing herself directly above him, crouching over him. There was no longer any hint of civility, she was in crouched and protective stance over the dragon. Kori's own body began to glow a bright orange as they both stared him down, growling like wild beasts.

Aimi narrowed his eyes at the woman. She obviously wasn't going to be civil with him. Her types only understood and respected strength, and so if he needed to prove his strength to this feral bitch he would. As she stepped forward, he slid his left foot out and back, widening his stance. He moved his left hand down to his sheath and his right over to the hilt of his blade, keeping his eyes on her the entire time. He tilted his head back and forth, cracking his neck and loosening up for the fight that was obviously about to take place. If she wanted to throw down, he wasn't afraid to put a wild woman in her place.

He began to channel chakra all throughout his body, the bones beneath his flesh forming a thin layer just beneath the skin. She looked strong, strong enough that he'd not want to get hit by her if he could avoid it. All the same he'd be a fool to not take precautions against the eventuality that he did get hit. Donning his armor only made sense in that case. The air grew tense around the both of them as chakra visibly leaked from her while he molded and shaped his own out of view of the visible eye, his body doing what it did best as no other body could. The sound of the buzzing insects was gone. The breeze seemed to die. A cloud moved up above them over head and the world grew still as David faced off against Goliath.

Then the dragon appeared. Aimi barely had a second to turn his eyes towards the new entity before the red glowing woman reacted herself. Her body moved with a swiftness similar to his own, increasing the distance between the two of them by a considerable amount as she moved to crouch down over the beast, like a mother wolf protecting her pups. The two of them could growl all the liked, but it would have no effect on Aimi what so ever. The moment that it clicked in his head what he was seeing, his body expression changed. Where just a moment before he'd seemed to tense up in preparation for a fight, upon sighting the dragon it was as if a set of invisible strings had been snapped and he faltered. His mouth opened a bit and his eyes widened, his hand relaxing on the hilt of his blade. "Is... is that...?"

He stammered a moment, his eyes growing wider and wider and his mouth opening up more and more, widening into a smile that quickly went from ear to ear. Stars filled his eyes and his heart raced in such a way that a fight could never duplicate. The cloud passed from over head, shining sunlight back down on him as his stance changed once again, moving from the ready position that it had been in to a much more child like stance, his knees bent and his arms held out in front of him with his hands balled up into fists and his wrists bent. "IS THAT A MOTHER FUCKING DRAGON!?" Aimi asked excitedly, the sheer glee on his face unmistakable at seeing such a creature.

What was more baffling, perhaps, than his reaction upon sighting the beast was how he stepped forward rapidly towards them both, the goofy expression never leaving his face as he got closer and closer. It was as if he'd forgotten that the woman on top of the orange glowing beast was there, had been there, and was currently staring daggers into him at all. He came within about ten feet of them before stopping, dropping down onto the ground on all fours and looking at the dragon with awestruck eyes. "Wwwwwwhooooooooooooaa! he said excitedly, reaching up with one hand and pushing his hair back along his skull so that he could look at it without his bangs getting in his way. "Where'd you find him!? Are there more of him around? Oh man, this is so cool! I've always wanted to see a dragon! Almost thought they didn't exist there for a minute, but here one is! Oh man, so AWESOME!!"

Was... this the same man who'd came singing non sense in the forest not ten minutes before?

The man's steps forward were met with a bark and roar. Katsu lashed out, her wings creating a strong gust of wind as she attempted to force him back. Her body lowered further until her lower portions were in contact with the beast, forcing him down as well. With a leg she urged him back but he didn't budge willingly. As her kind quarters began to singe her agitation grew with it. His childlike wonder was completely ignored as she protected Kori.

The beat of her wings created a gust of wind that shook the leaves from the trees behind him and lifted him up off of the ground roughly a foot and sending him back several, his arms held up crossed in front of his face defensively as he came to a skidding half on the balls of his feet. He lowered his arms and there it was, that same goofy expression of child-like wonderment. She might have been completely lost in some sort of misguided feral territoriality, but he was equally lost in witnessing what to him was a living, breathing legend! He remembered how other ninja he'd come into contact with in the past had boated about how they'd met with dragons before and he'd always been jealous. Now he could count himself among one of those elite ranks who had witnessed such a beast!

Although... his view was quite obscured with him practically laying on top of him. In fact he couldn't well see much of the dragon at all with her pressing him down to the ground like that, overshadowing him like an overprotective bear. This simply wouldn't do. His greed demanded that he see more of this dragon, he just had to know more about it! A simple glimpse like this wasn't enough for him to sate his curiosity, and in fact if his curiosity about the woman were put on a scale from one to ten in comparison to his curiosity about the dragon, she'd be at a two while the dragon was at an eight. It dominated his want to learn and to know, and for a brief second he considered how he could achieve this end.

Fighting her seemed like a bad idea in general. Never mind her potential strength and predatory attitude, he hadn't come here to fight in the first place and had absolutely no desire to do so. He'd only gone into a stance before because he stubbornly refused to budge until she talked with him, and that was clearly out of the window now. Pressing on as he had been would only be counterproductive to his new goal of studying this dragon, and a fight had no guarantee of his victory when he knew so little about who or what was before him. The only logical choice for him was to withdraw for the time being.

Sprouting a pair of white feathered wings from his back, not dissimilar to how she had done so herself, Aimi spread his new appendages out as wide and as high as he could, knelt down on the ground and gave a final look at the feral woman and her pet dragon. The smile on his face was unmistakable. With a mighty beat downwards of his wings and a vertical jump upwards, the jounin broke through the tree line and began to fly away, keeping an eye out behind him case she pursued him but more keeping track of the area that he'd just been in relative to the rest of the forest. He had maybe three days at the most before he would be expected back at Kirigakure. He was going to spend it tracking this woman and her dragon, to try and get a better, closer look at the beast and if she were feeling civil, to talk with her about where she'd found it and how.
