Drop Top Wopp in da Waterfalls

It was a rather nice day out in Kirigakure, the sun was shining somewhere in the clouds and seemed to be brighter than most days, illuminating the water and the land below. Kokatsu leisurely walked towards his training spot for the day, not really sure of what was going to come of the day. He had stretched out an invite to one of the more famous Shinobi in the village, almost on a whim. He still didn't know much about being a ninja, and how the job and organization is structured. I wonder if he'll even come. The thought ran through his mind, not that it made to much of a difference to him whether he trained alone or with another, but Kokatsu was curious to learn from Aimi. The opportunity to talk to and train with someone much more powerful than him, he thought would be extremely beneficial to his own growth. To surround oneself with powerful people, and to learn from then, that what it is going to take to be great. Finally through his slow walk he reached the small waterfall that flowed beautifully as the centerpiece of the secluded spot. the land was surrounded by trees and rocks, but around the water gave way to a large open field of grass and small bushes, life flourished by the waterfall. The Rain continued to fall down and the sun that peaked in and out of the clouds seemed to hide further away, leaving a greyish backdrop to the day.

Kokatsu stood for a moment and took in the scenery, feeling calm and collected before what would be a long day of training. He really did feel great, no strain in his muscles, and not a worry on his mind, just the need to run and train, the urge for exorcise. The rain was no issue for him, Kokatsu acted if it almost wasn't there. He removed his cloak for the heat was still grew as the sun lingered tucked away behind the clouds, leaving a humid flow of rain. Taking out a small brooch, he pulled back his bands and clamped his hair down on the top of his head using his moms brooch. It was nothing special in terms of jewelry, just something to keep all the occasionally distracting hair out of his way. Kokatsu began to stretch, mostly focusing on his legs as he was hoping to get training in for his speed or endurance, feeling that his current physical stature will not hold up abasing other genin. He continued to stretch and ease into the morning of training while waiting for Aimi.

Aimi read the scroll that had been delivered to him for the fifth time while eating a slice of toast, the crisp bread crunching between his teeth as he held the unrolled parchment out in front of him, wondering if this was starting to become a problem. He'd begun to notice that genin were approaching him more and more for training and he had to wonder if Nishiki or one of the other genin that he had temporarily trained were telling tales to their other genin comrades about the 'Jounin Yamai that will train genin to be strong!' or some such garbage like that. Shinjiro maybe? He actually didn't know, but being approached out of the blue like this was unusual at best and a bit intrusive at worst. He was already training Nishiki more or less full time when he wasn't on a mission these days and Shinjiro himself was something he wasn't even sure was going to stick just yet, now all of the sudden he's getting scrolls from one Kōkatsu Kokku Fushinkou, requesting that he come and train with them? And who the hell was Kōkatsu Kokku Fushinkou anyways?

Rolling up the scroll, Aimi tossed it aside into his living room and munched on his toast with his hand on his hips. He'd burn the scroll later but for now he needed to decide if he even wanted to meet up with these genin at the place and time they specified. He really, really wasn't interested in taking on a bunch of kids under his wing and trying to teach them all the same lesson on how to be truly strong. There was a reason that he had moved on to become a jounin and not remain a chunin and teach at the academy after all. Still, he couldn't deny to himself that while it was highly unlikely this Fushinkou genin might be able to inspire him to train more. At the very least he could just take this as a resting day for himself and not have to worry about training hard. Standing, naked, in his kitchen, chewing on a slice of toast, Aimi debated with himself over which of his attributes would win out over the other and ultimately decide if he would be meeting up with this genin or not.

In the end he decided to be charitable and went and got dressed, tossing on his white cloak and leg wrappings as he normally wore them and stepping out of his apartment into the rest of the Yamai compound. He looked up at the sky and noticed how bright the mist looked today, meaning that the sun was actually outside and shining high above the village. He smiled, knowing full well that this wasn't something that he was about to pass up on. Sunny days are a rarity in Kirigakure, and Aimi was uniquely privileged in being able to enjoy them because of his own skills and abilities. In fact, as he was thinking about the warmth of the sun on his skin, he decided that on such a nice day as this it would be an excellent opportunity to improve upon those skills. It was time to fly higher and faster than he had been doing recently.

Aimi rolled his shoulders and swung his arms back and forth in front of him, preparing himself to physically strain his back in a way that he wasn't used to. He rolled his neck and let out a sigh before he started to channel his chakra, his bones working to ossify and create new ones at first below the surface of the skin. Before long the sprouted out from his shoulders, practice making with a lesser form of this jutsu making it so that they sprouted out faster than they had before, and much faster at that! He was actually a bit surprised to find how quickly that the skeletal frame of his wings came into being behind him, the extra appendages shooting out of his shoulders at what was frankly a startling speed to him! He was just... so used to them coming out so much slower. Now that he thought about it, it'd been years since he actually first learned how to grow a pair of wings using his Yamai gifts and he hadn't really bothered to test himself with them since then. Obviously he'd grown!

His feathers came in just as quickly, thin, hollow bones sprouting out like flower petals from the base skeletal form of his wings at the same speed. It was the same sort of thing he'd done a hundred times in the past, just faster and more efficient than he'd done before. As such he didn't really waste much time trying to analyze his chakra usage as if he were performing a new technique for the first time but instead tried to rush the process as quickly as he could. As it turned out, it was pretty quick! The entire process of growing his wings, something which took maybe thirty seconds before, had now been reduced to around five seconds - or less! He honestly hadn't been counting before he started, but he wouldn't be surprised if it was close to that figure. Once his wings were fully formed he fanned them out, looking from side to side at his flight enabling limbs he'd just created and holding his arms out to the side, stroking the feathers delicately. "Huh... how about that?" he asked no one but himself, bending his knees and crouching down while his wings were raised up as high as they could go. In a single movement he was up in the air, leaping high up with his legs and pushing downwards towards the ground with his wings.

It was exhilarating flying so high so quickly! He rose up and out of the mist and into the sunshine and couldn't help but let out a moan as he closed his eyes and let the sunlight wash over his bare skin. "Ooooooooooh, ohhohoho, oh this was a good decision!" he said aloud, letting his wings go limp behind him and falling out of the sky roughly ten meters back down into the fog before rolling around in the air and flapping his wings, gaining altitude and flying up above the mist once more. He took a few minutes to himself to just fly around, testing out his limits, seeing how fast he could go and what sort of control he had over his own movements. He could make sharp enough turns, rise up high, fall down, roll in the air, all of his usual movements with ease - now he was just doing them faster. Not quite as fast as what he could have done on the ground with his own two legs, but definitely faster than he'd been able to do before. He liked that very much! So much, in fact, that Aimi decided after his five minutes in the sun that he was feeling so good that he was going to fly to meet up with what's-their-face as quickly as he could! And so he did.

A couple of minutes later, Aimi was dropping down from the sky through the mist and landing in front of the waterfall with a splash, knees bent and wings fanned out high above his head. He stood up briskly and took in a deep breath of the cool, misty air, looking around for whoever it was that he was meant to be training with, actually kind of excited to meet them now! How bad could it have been to be personally asked to have him come out and train after all?

Kokatsu was stretching when he noticed a man glide down and land by the waterfall, it was a pretty amazing sight to see someone just flying through the air. Damn, it would be useful to be able to fly like that.Kokatsu stopped his stretching to marvel at the man who was presumably Aimi, he had heard some stuff about him, how he does not adhere to most of the norms around Kiri and how he was an extremely skilled fighter. Without a shirt on his back kokatsu could already see how he branches outside the norms of what was common around these parts.

Kokatsu walked over to the man to greet him, eager to train, but as he walked over it was easy to see the difference in each other's strength. Not only was Aimi much taller then him, he seemed to almost be emanating strength, as a strong aura shook Kokatsu a little bit. However he had asked him to train, and wanted to learn from him, for one day he might just have to fight someone like him. As he approached Aimi, Koktasu said “Yo, I’m assuming your Yamai Aimi. Im Fushinkou Kokatsu, nice to meet you! I hope i'll be able to keep up today. Oh and thank you for coming, I know you must be busy.” Kokatsu bowed his head feeling that he should show respect to his seniors. Kokatsu was ready to train and work, but he thought that making a good first impression would be better than to just jump into work, he waited for Aimi response or even to take the lead because he was the higher ranking ninja, before he would give his own suggestion.

The second that Aimi laid eyes on Kokatsu he frowned, his face going stony and his excited energy from flying above the clouds leaving him. This genin, this boy, was easily younger than Nishiki was. This pasty looking, thin limbed, prissy looking... boy? Girl? - It was honestly a bit hard to tell given their age and the brooch in their hair! - was the one who had sought him out to ask for guidance? They looked as if they had just been released from the academy for recess! They looked like this was the first time they'd been allowed outside of their house in order to train on their own! He was stunned, very stunned, unable to tell whether or not he should be appalled and insulted or surprised and flattered to be approached by someone so young and so obviously inexperienced. Once again he revisted the thought of whether or not he should have even come here at all and reminded himself to ask Nishiki later if he'd been telling his classmates that the Tsukino was being trained by him.

Watching Kokatsu bow before him filled his stomach with knots, and he wasn't entirely sure why. He was never one to turn down a gesture of respect, but from someone so weak it almost felt like an insult. Their only saving grace was their ignorance at the moment and just how pitiful they looked. This was not a child who had excelled in taijutsu and had - must have - graduated from the academy on the merits of their ninjutsu or genjutsu or perhaps both, he wasn't sure. In any case, he had a feeling that this Fushinkou didn't really have any sort of an idea of what kind of training Aimi preferred to do... and it dawned on the jounin that that might actually be a good thing. "Stand up, don't bow like that. I'm not your sensei," Aimi stated, stepping forward from out of the water and onto land, fanning out his wings and crossing his arms.

"On the ground. Push ups. As many of them as you can do," Aimi said, looking over at Kokatsu with the stoic look and the tonal inflection of someone entirely serious about every syllable they were uttering. While he waited for Kokatsu to follow his orders, as he assumed that they would, he uncrossed his arms and reached out to his fanned out wings and began to channel his chakra directly into one of the feathers. The bones of the feather hardened and thickened, the thin strands of keratin-like bone melding together as one to form a single bone in the shape of a feather. Once it was finished, he plucked the now much heavier feather off of his wing and held it up, looking at it. It was thin, all things considered, maybe a centimeter at the most, but that was a hell of a lot thicker than any of the other feathers currently attached to his wing. As he examined the plucked feather, his wing grew back another to replace it, the white bone sprouting out of the same place as the feather which had been plucked.

Holding the feather in his fingers and rotating it back and forth, Aimi flicked his wrist and threw it down into the ground in front of Kokatsu, the quill piercing the ground. "When you've done as many push ups as you can do, write it down in the dirt with that, then hold on to it," Aimi said, turning his back on the genin and once more spreading his wings. He held out both arms to his side and channeled his chakra to harden several of his feathers, his eyes darting around the area while he worked his chakra through his wings. He was picking out spots in this little glen within the village that he could use in order to train this young genin. There was absolutely no way that they were on the level he required to actually train anything of significance, so anything that he himself DID train would be minor and tame. On the one hand he wasn't going to be able to actually do anything he considered worth training at this point in time. On the other hand, this was a perfect excuse to be lazy and just take it easy for the day, working out some jutsu which, in his ambition for more powerful techniques, he had left by the wayside.

Aimi plucked a total of six more feathers from his wings, holding three in each hand, before aiming at specific spots and throwing them - the top of the waterfall, the bottom of it, into a three different trees and into a spot on the ground some fifteen meters away from where Kokatsu was currently doing push ups. The feathers were markers and the markers were for physical exercises that he was going to have the genin go through. As far as he could tell there was one thing that this genin was sorely lacking above all else and that was physical capability, and seeing as how he was an expert in that sort of thing he supposed that it was kind of perfect that he'd been approached by this genin to be trained. Once more Aimi felt very conflicted about this entire affair, as he likely would continue to feel throughout the day.

Kokatsu listened as he sized up the man in front of him, no doubt he was impressive, but he wasn't what kokatsu had in mind. Even with the rumor around that, he rejected the way of life in Kirigakure, the amount of what this man rejected took Kokatsu by storm. The shirt off and swagger that the man had as he talked, along with the subtle sourness he showed from when kokatsu bowing racked in his brain. Did I do something wrong? Kokatsu found himself wondering, Everything I had been raised on, respect, and the system in place around Kirigakure in place to establish order within a country, the order that a country needs to survive, why does he throw this notion away? Kokatsu couldn't help thinking about this, for this was the first time he had seen someone so openly reject what he had been taught to follow so sticky throughout his life. Maybe it's the shinobi world, I've heard of others moving out of there rank from honors in battle, but I never thought it would be like this. Anyhow I will not fall to his level, even if he is greater than I in almost every way, I will keep the code of our country. Kokatsu did not mind the snarky comments or the order to do push-ups, even if he did have in mind to train speed first today, however, he was here to improve himself overall, and strength was on that list. He figured that if Aimi had pointed it out as the first thing he would do, it was glaring that his strength was so weak that it was a sheer give away of his worst attribute.

Before beginning the push-ups Kokatsu acknowledge the man before him. Already it seemed that the man doubted and disliked Kokatsu, the reason why he couldn't figure out. Nonetheless, he was his supporter, and that came with an obligation to reply and listen. “I guess push up would be a good way to start the day.” Kokatsu said while giving a quick glance to his arms before looking back at Aimi, “but please remember your not my sensei, I think I have a lot to learn, and clearly you are extremely capable of teaching, but hopefully I will be able to help you as well. We are both shinobi now, shinobi for Kirigakure, even if I am weak, we share a home. Kokatsu was not sure if his words would be taken the right way, it was sort of a spur of the moment comment, something that arouses in himself maybe reflecting from the attitude that Aimi had. He started to think about it and soon regretted his words, thinking that in some way he had stepped out of line from the strict code of conduct in the region. Trying to throw the thought out of his head he began to train as Aiami said, If he was able to get this strong, there has to be a method from his training, I should try to soak it all in, just keep an open mind he thought.

Resting down onto his knees Kokatsu took a deep breath before starting his first exercise of the day. He stretched his arms pulling them from side to side before firmly panting his hands apart in his perfect push up position. This wasn't the training he really preferred for strength training as it was meticulous and repetitive, but nevertheless, he had done it a lot when training with his dad. Not to say that he had perfected the training, but he was more than capable of keeping his own. As he took his knees off the ground and stretched out his legs so that just his toes and the palms of his hands held his off the wet ground he began to start. He didn't take time to slow into the process, for he thought kicking it off with a bang was always the best way to start and keep one motivated through the exercise. He began to go up and down with his arms repeating the motions over and over, with great speed. As he strained his arm muscles the count rose as he kept a tally in his head, not wanting to distract Aimi from his own training he seemed to start simultaneously. Passing 25 with ease he continued to count higher keeping up with the speed in which he was performing the task. After reaching 50 his speed began to slow, seeming to get slower form each push up he formed, but he counted to keep going, not feeling any shame or emotion from what he was capable, for he knew that it was all to make him stronger. Pushing harder even with the slower motions of the training he pressed forward, getting above 75 and slowing even more. After 80 he was only able to mustard out around three more push up before his hand slipped out of fatigue and his chin his the ground, thankfully from the rain the ground was soft and didn't discourage Kokatsu from continuing. He paused only for a moment to write the number down in the dirt, 83, and then after a few short breaths he got back into position.

Kokatsu knew he would not be able to beat that number right away, it was obvious to anyone who had ever worked out before. If he pushed himself to the limit from his first attempt, his second attempt would clearly be less even if one pushes themselves to the same limit. Feeling as if Aimi expected his number to improve with each real set, kokatsu decide to do the real push-ups in intervals. He got in the form again, but this time spread his legs apart, as far as his arms, as he knew that this would take the pressure off of his arms, while still growing his strength but letting him catch his breath at the same time. He did 50 pushups in this position at a moderate speed, keeping a stick pace the entire time that let him catch his breath and get some of his strength back. After this he began to sweat, feeling the rain on his skin along with the little drops of water his own body produced, it was a refreshing feeling the cold water splashing on his as he trained. After the break he paused for only a moment, feeling strong once again before getting back into a proper pushup form.

Once again he began the training, starting faster than the last he began to trudge through the push-ups. Hitting 25 was a breeze and then soon after 50 were already knocked out. Kokatsu had a sense of freshness from his body and with meticulous precision, he pushed forward. He got to 75 without the same fatigue that took over his body the first time he started to work with this training, but after reaching 80 his body seemed to almost completely reject the workout. Not yet. He continued to push through the pain and numbness that started to grow in his arms, he knew he was capable of doing many sets of push-ups, but doing so many in one set was tiring, each one becoming harder to perform than the last. Kokatsu continued to push forward, reaching 90, then 95. He could barely keep pushing up and the last couple thrust almost looked half-assed, but was the product of oneself pushing the body till it could give no more. He reached 99 and dropped down for the 100th, but even as he pushed up from the ground with all his strength he could not rise. He pushed for a few seconds before his arms gave out altogether and his body splashed onto the ground. Fuck, I couldn't even get to 100 He propped himself up and sat up in the dirt as he reached out again to write the number on the ground. 83 and 99, it wasn't much of an improvement but it was an improvement, but kokatsu had no idea if these numbers were any good at all. He looked at them for a moment as he thought, this can't be anything impressive, I know I need to be stronger. I guess Aimi was right in some ways, I need to keep growing to one day be as powerful as him. Glancing up from his own training seeing him using the jutsu that he had made his graceful appearance with, and then using a feather as some kind of weapon. It interested Kokatsu not really as the jutsu itself, but he began thing of the sheer number of jutsu a ninja of Aimi stature would possess, along with the creativeness of way to use jutsu in one's arsenal. He found himself watching and learning for a moment.

Aimi stood and watched silently as Kokatsu struggled to do as many push ups as his frail body would allow, keeping a mental tally of his own of exactly how many they were doing. He had to admit to himself that they did more than he expected, but it was still below average for a genin... last he checked anyways. The Yamai honestly felt a bit strange judging this boy as harshly as he was by basing his own training as a genin as a measuring stick for what he assumed that Kokatsu's training had been like to earn his rank. That was well over 10 years ago, though, and for all he knew standards at the academy could have changed. Once more a strange feeling in his gut reminded him of his unease with the whole situation. After the young genin's body collapsed and he wrote his number in the dirt, Aimi stepped forward and looked down at him and his numbers. Eighty-three and ninety-nine... where were the rest? Kokatsu had definitely done more push ups than that, so why was he only counting the first and last halves of them? Was he now holding himself to a higher standard after seeing the chiseled Yamai? He wasn't sure, but as he looked down at the panting young boy at his feet and took a step out in front of him and the numbers he'd written into the dirty. Extending his right foot, Aimi used his big toe to draw a + sign in between the 83 and 99 along with a second + sign afterwards, writing out 50 after the second plus and finally, = 232.

"Don't sell yourself short, kid," Aimi said, turning around taking a few steps away to give Kokatsu some time to recover. "When you're ready, meet me at the top of the waterfall. I don't want you to climb up the side with your chakra, mind you - I want you to physically climb up the waterfall. Preferably with the water crashing down on top of you. See you at the top!" With that said, the Yamai fanned his wings out as far as they would go and crouched down, his knees bent as low as he could get them. He built up the tension in his legs while flexing his wings upwards as much as he could. Chakra was gathered into the muscles of his legs and his shoulders as he was already visualizing what it was he wanted to do. After a brief instant of preparing like this, Aimi leaped up into the air and slammed his wings downward, propelling himself skywards straight up into the air!

The force of his propulsion was actually a touch jarring for him. Normally when he flew up into the air like this in was through his pure strength alone. This time, though, he had added his chakra into the equation and the result was him being sent up twenty meters into the air in the blink of an eye! The mist above the ground where he'd been standing was cleared away for a good two meters in every direction for a few seconds before it began to fill in the empty space that he had created. What might have surprised him the most, though, was the fact that he got to the heights that he did as fast as he would have had he run the same distance on the ground, something that before hadn't been possible because of how weak the muscles in his shoulders that controlled his wings had been. He thought at first that perhaps he might have figured out how to fly at full speed but was quickly corrected as he flew over towards the top of the water fall at a much slower pace than the one he had used to ascend skyward. He didn't think too much on it, though. He could always figure out how to fly faster later.

In hardly any time at all Aimi was standing at the top of the water fall, his feet planted firmly in the cold water and looking down below through the thick mist. He was barely able to see Kokatsu from up there because of it, but he could just make out the shape of the genin below. He watched, vigilant, to see how he would answer the challenge he had set before him.

Kokatsu watched as Aimi drew in the dirt, adding up both of his tallies and drew out the large number. It was pretty cool to see someone so intune with their body to be able to draw with there big toe, needless to say he was impressed with Aimi’s great feat. (get it haha) Aimi gave a few words of encouragement that seemed to resonate with Kokatsu, not much in the way of encouraging him, just on the fact that someone else believes in him, and Kokatsu was not going to let him down. He watched as Aimi went back top practicing and jumped above the waterfall, waiting for him to join. Well, I better not keep him waiting, guess i'll have to power through more pushups in order to impress someone of his stature. Kokatsu took a couple deep breath as he stretched getting ready to try the great trail of over two hundred push ups. He got down in the position and began to warm up his already tired arms, just going through the motion with his knees still touching the ground, warming up his arms while easily doing this exercise. Then the real hard work began, he pushed his legs back once again touching his toes to the ground and began to perform the exercise.

He began to go up and down, pushing hard through his workout and soon he reached high numbers, going into the 50s and then soon the 75s. However when he got higher then that he started to feel the same fatigue that hit him the first couple times, and he knew he wouldn't be able to reach two hundred this time around. Feeling defeated he stopped, wanting to plan how to go about growing his strength in such a quick time. there no way i'm going to be beat by something so trivial as push ups, I need to be stronger. Kokatsu sat for a moment and modeled his body into the criss cross position. He drew in chakra along with more strength, wanting to be as strong as possible before going after the set again. He thought about the training and what it would be for the long run of his career, every little thing will help, and every push up will make him stronger. Kokatsu continued to pull in strength as well as chakra, feeling stronger by the minute. His breath grew shorter as his muscles expanded filling full of power. Feeling ready he wanted to get back to work.

Planting his hands firmly on the ground where he had been through the entire training Kokatsu went to work. He began fast pulling his weight up and down off the ground, stretching out his arms with each stroke, and with each push he could feel himself growing and getting stronger. Hitting 50 was easy, almost too easy, and kokatsu thought for a second that he had lost count, skipping from something like 10 to 50, but as the next ten pushups flew by with ease he knew it was no trick, but rather he had grown, and he could feel the strength following throughout his body. O OH OHH! At this rate i'm going to hit 300 with ease, is this the true strength that all ninjas have. I wonder how much push ups Aimi can do, judging by his build and his rank it must be loads above the levels that I can reach. Oh shit what number was I at again. Kokatsu took a pause while doing his work out, resting for a moment while he racked through his brain to figure out what number he was currently on, and through this his body had a quick moment of relaxation before getting into the higher numbers of the work out. He figured he was at about 80 or 80 but decided to low ball it just in case Aimi was watching, and he didn't want to seem like he just pretended to do the push ups, so he went with 75 and started to count once again from there. Pushing through the work out kokatsu hit one hundred, easily at that and he continued to push forward. He could feel a little bit of fatigue running through his arms as he reached the higher numbers of the work out but he continued to keep with the work out, wanting to really show that he had what it takes to be a ninja. His arms stained heavily as he reached 125 and still he knew that he had more than 100 more push ups to go, but kokatsu wasn't going to quit. He started to go slower, now pacing himself through the second half of the work out and with each push of the ground he took a moment to breath and gain his composure with each push up, this made the work out go much slower but he was able to get through it all that much easier. Going far and beyond that of what he was once able to he slowly reached the higher numbers, hitting 150 and then with staggered push ups he hit 175. I can do this, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel He continued with his slow place, one push up, one breath, one push up, one breath. This is how he continued until he had hit two hundred, the number he was thinking of, but the number he knew was short of his overall goal. Kokatsu pushed on, digging his nails into the ground forcing him to pull out all the strength he had left in him. He pushed past and ht two ten, pushing on and on, not letting himself a moment of thinking of failure. Soon after he had achieved his goal of 232, but he still had some left in the tank and pushing for the 3 more push ups he had completed his work out. Easily coming from the pushup position he squatted by the number Aimi had draw and crossed it out, writing 235 next to it. His arms felt extremely tired but at the same time they felt stronger, much stronger. He shifted his attention to the next task the high ranking shinobi had set for him, the waterfall.

Aimi felt bad for Kokatsu. Really bad for him. As he stood at the top of the waterfall and watched the weak boy push his body through and beyond his limits, he kicked himself for apparently not making it clear enough that he'd simply written out the total number of push ups that the boy had done, not give him a new number to shoot towards! He couldn't feel too terribly for it, though, considering that his first rule had been for him to do as many push ups as he could do, and if he was capable of doing more than two hundred and thirty two, well, he wasn't going to complain. All the same he counted out each and every push up he did, all 467 of them and he had to admit he was impressed. Given how scrawny he was, he didn't think that he'd be able to do so many. He chalked it up to youth and adrenaline though and looked forward to the next challenge that the boy faced - climbing the waterfall. The jounin had a feeling that he'd need a bit of a boost getting up there so to speak, and he had just the thing for that.

Bringing his hands up in front of him, Aimi made a quick series of hand seals and took in a breath, letting it out slowly and creating dull blue flames in the misty air in front of him. These flames took shape as he kept his breath flowing outwards, his chakra molding them into the wispy phantom that they were meant to make. At first it looked like any other ghost-light that he would have made, but it continued to take shape into something more unique and robust than a simple blue ball of flame. The blue fire was molded so that there were two bright spots on it, serving as blind eyes that could see nothing, and the fire grew to form a sort of body underneath the fireball of a head. Simple, stubby limbs of fire sprouted out from the main mass at the last and with them came the end of Aimi's breath, the jounin standing and looking at the pygmy of flame he'd created. It floated in the air in front of him and moved around, it's body flowing like a liquid as it went from side to side, seemingly exploring it's surroundings by turning it's head. It was a lie, though, a mere flicker of flame. This hinkypunk was simply an evolution on his base ghost-light jutsu, and as such it didn't have any sort of consciousness or personality. It couldn't see and he couldn't see through it. It wouldn't even burn properly like a normal flame would. It was simply a jutsu that was designed to mimic life and as such, he ultimately had little control over it.

He exerted what little control he had, though, by pointing his finger downward and directing his jutsu towards Kokatsu down at the bottom of the waterfall. The little blue fire pygmy floated down over the water fall towards the genin, appearing like a ghostly lantern in the fog up until it would get close enough to be observed by the young boy. He floated within a couple of feet of him, the flames darting wisp-like back and forth, it's little arms beckoning Kokatsu forward. Up at the top of the waterfall, Aimi watched as his jutsu did it's job, only being able to see the dull blue dot of light that was his flame from the distance they were at from him. Down below, though, the flame pygmy moved slowly towards the waterfall, subtly encouraging Kokatsu to follow it and meet Aimi's challenge.

Prerequisite: Katon • Ghost-Light
The user makes the handseals and creates a small, wispy being with a large, flaming head and stubby 'arms and legs' made of flame. The flame doesn't give off much heat at all and is not as hot as other fire. Touching this ball of flame will not burn the person touching it in the slightest. Similarly, the light this flame gives off is incredibly dull in comparison to other flames. This flame moves semi-autonomously, seemingly independent of the user's will when in actuality it's movements are directed by the user. When someone other than the user gets within a foot of this flame, it will disappear only to reappear two meters away in front of them. The flame disappears, moves, and reappears at a speed of 10. The flame lasts for 5 posts.

Turning to the waterfall kokatsu looked at the great trail ahead of him, thinking how much harder something like this would be then just a few push ups. He looked on at the cascading water jumping from the edge of the cliff and crashing down into the slow moving river below, booming out with each drop that wopped creating a tough challenge for a young genin. Kokatsu felt up for the challenge however and started to walk over to the edge of the river, he was already wet so the water of the waterfall would pay him no mind, except for the extreme force pushing down on him, and maybe the slickness of the rocks behind it. He sat by the river side and took off his sandals, knowing he would have a better grip on the rocks with his free toes and fingers, not wanting to be slipped up because of the opened toed shoes. Just as he took a small break a little figure made of fire wafted down from the top of the waterfall. It fluttered around and ultimately motion for Kokatsu to climb the waterfall, looking up he could barley see Aimi waiting for him at the top. I wonder what kind of jutsu that is, seems like it isn't dangerous in any way, maybe it used exactly for this propose. Anyway Aimi is right I should make my way up there. Dipping his feet into the water Kokatsu made his way to where the water crashed before him, it was cool and refreshing wading through the rocky river, as he walked and slipped through the water he could feel the soft algae on his feet already making the journey slippery and tough. Standing in front of the waterfall Kokatsu reached out his arm, dipping his hand into the falling water, his arm hurt to move this much, as the fatigue of all his push ups started to set in with his arms, however the rest of his body felt great, almost well rested. Damn this is gonna be a lot of work, if I were to do this first thing shit would be easier than boiling an egg, but man my arms hurt. To make it up this waterfall now is gonna take all I got in the tank, even though my arms are already hard boiled. Along with the rushing water and the difficulty further of not being able to use any chakra at all Kokatsu was preparing for a tough trial of endurance and stamina.

Lifting both arms up and pushing into the waterfall kokatsu felt around for the rock face on the other side, the water rushed down obstructing his view as he was able to find the jagged rocks chiseled by years of water rushing over them. He jumped up from the water, able to get pretty high, even with being held down by water, just for the reason of how relaxed and fresh his legs were, and with that jump he started to climb. Reaching up with one arm at a time, and attempting to hold most of his weight up with his legs he pressed up the side of the waterfall. One after another he grabbed a rock with his hand, and found a good hold to support his body, and pushed with all his might from his legs, powering against the crashing water from above. It was difficult to hang on while difficult more to fight the waterfall while focusing on balance, but he kept on pushing forward. Taking the time to pause if he felt like he was going to fall and often having to reset his climbing hand before moving forward. However only about halfway up the cliff while pushing up off his left leg, his toes slipped from the rock and just before his face crashed against the sharp rocks of the waterfalls face, he pushed off with his hands and came crashing back into the river.

Rising from the water and taking a deep breath he let his hair fall down as it started to come out of the brooch he had used to hold it back throughout the day. He pulled at it and taking it out threw it over by his sandals, then shaking his hair about he was ready to give it a second try. I guess I can't rely on my legs alone for this, there just slip out from the power again. I need to take my time, just like the push ups, and use my entire body, even if my arms feel like all the air was lost in the last exercise. Well carry on, carry on. He wanted to use his entire body this time as he jumped once again, but this time when he grabbed at the rock he missed and slipped back down to the bottom of the river. With not to much loss he jumped again, without hesitation and this time locked his fingers into place and got himself in a good position to start the climb up to Aimi. Going up the side of the waterfall it was easier this time around as when he pushed off the rocks with his legs he used the equal amount of muscles in his arms to pull himself up as well. His arms hurt as he did this but he felt a lot more of a sense of balance as he worked his way up the side of the waterfall. His body seemed to be able to move on its own at this point, legs and arms moving at the same time, easily being able to find footholds from the once used rocks of hand holds, his body was in sink. Even with the strong sense of fatigue and water crashing down above him he moved forward, pushing his bodies strength and agility to the limit. Soon this all paid off, as he reached up with his hand and felt the top of the cliff wall, where the water turned on a 90 degree angle and started to fall. At this moment he felt exhausted as his stamina had basically run out, but he knew he needed to push forward, just one more big jump. Kokatsu prepared all his strength as he pulled up with his one arm and pushed up with both his legs, as he flew up over the waterfall and rolled into the small stream above as he crashed on top of the waterfall. After taking some deep breaths he turned back around and positioned his fingertips on the edge of the waterfall and glanced down at the crushing water that he had climbed up through, it wasn't an easy task and he was able to complete it. I guess that's enough for my body for now, I wonder what jutsu Aimi is learning at the moment, I think i'll follow his lead and expand my repertoire of jutsu as well. He stood up in the shallow water and shook off the water from his hair, while walking towards Aimi, ready to learn more from him as well as see what kind of work he would be doing.

Drop Top Wopp in da Waterfalls

At the edge of the waterfall, high above the world below, Aimi stared down at a young, weak boy struggling against the crushing weight of cold water falling down on top of him, guided by a faint blue pygmy of flame of his own creation. It was simultaneously both entertaining and satisfying to see someone who had specifically sought him out struggle so much to succeed to the simple challenge that was in front of them. The surprises seemed never ceasing in this boy as he continually surpassed the Yamai's expectations, first doing an extraordinary amount of push ups for someone of his build and then climbing the waterfall like it was a thing to do. He might have even gone as far as to say he felt a twinge of pride in the boy for surpassing his expectations like this, and then the tragic slip came.

He fell, plummeting down to the river below. Aimi held onto his breath as he watched this happening and let it out only when he had resurfaced. This he'd expected, failure was the brick work to future success after all. With a flick of his wrist he sent the pygmy flame floating down the front of the waterfall towards Kokatsu where it flitting above the water back and forth a couple of feet away from him before gesturing back towards the waterfall and leading the way towards it. A smile came over Aimi's face as he saw the boy actually trying to climb the waterfall once again. "Tenacious little bastard, I'll give him that..." he said to himself, turning his back on the boy and stepping through the water a few meters away. He knew that he was going to have a few minutes to wait for him to get up to where he was, and he was going to spend those few minutes preparing the scenery to be more to his liking.

Performing a quick series of seals while he walked, Aimi gathered katon chakra and knelt down with his hands held only an inch or so above the flowing water. He expelled the chakra from his hands and ignited the air beneath them in a cool, blue flame that quickly spread out in a large, circular area around himself, lighting the top of the waterfall and the mist around him in an eerie blue light. This was his Creeping Ghost-light jutsu, something that he'd created and mastered a long time ago. Just a simple application of flame, really, with extra control in his chakra to keep it cool to the touch. It was only a preliminary jutsu though and required others in order to be more effective, which was exactly what he was planning on doing then and there. Once the flames had covered their full area of forty meters in circumference, covering an area that extended from the edge of the waterfall to well up stream of it, Aimi stood up and brought his hands together to perform another ninjutsu.

The string of seals was longer than the first as was to be expected from a higher ranked ninjutsu. Never the less, he performed them rather quickly and upon making the last seal sent his gathered chakra down to the carpet of cool flame that was hugging his ankles. The chakra spread quickly throughout the forty meter area and began to shape the flame into another purpose. Bit by bit, the flames started to pull themselves together into clumps, forming what were at first just bumps in the layer of fire that rose upwards, seeming to drag more of the fire towards themselves and spreading what was there as thin as could be. They began to separate from one another, forming individual balls of fire one after another that rose up into the air and floated in place, stationary, flickering, dull and ghostly. Aimi watched this happening all around him, turning his head from side to side and watching the effects of his jutsu carefully. He saw not only his successes but his failures as well, as parts of the flame simply disappeared rather than be formed into fireballs. He saw these mistakes for what they were - wasted chakra, a lack of perfect control over what was admittedly a bit of a complicated shaping of fire over a wide area... but, his successes did outweigh his failures. In total, he counted thirty five ghost-lights now floating in the air all around him.

Satisfied for the time being, Aimi walked through his small field of floating fire and back to the edge of the waterfall. He glanced down to look at both Kokatsu and his pygmy's progress and saw that they were well on their way towards the top, but still had a ways to go. Content to wait, Aimi knelt down once more and stuck his hand in the water, grabbed a hold of the feather he had thrown into the stone and pulled it out. He stood back up and turned around, giving a flap of his wings and propelling himself up into the air just high enough that he could fly over the water to the center of his floating fire balls and cross his legs in the air, facing the waterfall. He sat and closed his eyes, holding his hands in his lap and the feather in his right hand, waiting for Kokatsu as he flapped his wings continually to keep himself aiborne, the Yamai hovering just a foot or so above the water in this manner. When at last the boy managed to get to the top, Aimi opened his eyes. His Hinkypunk came floating over towards him and circled around his body wistfully.

"Good job, kid," Aimi called out through the mist, holding his right hand out and pointing the feather towards him. "Come and get your prize."

Kokatsu walked up to Aimi after climbing the waterfall, he was a little dazed from all the exercise that he had just done, but his body felt something like a high rather than fatigued from work. He still was breathing hard as he shook the water from his hair walking up to the Shinobi. Aimi offered him a little feather he had found, it seemed like nice gesture and a good looking feather as well, and Kokatsu was not about to say no to a superior. He reach out and took the feather from him with a smile as he said ”Thank you Aimi, a nice prize for this hard training. I have to admit all the jutsu you have been working on is pretty cool, hovering in the air like a bird seems like a magical feeling. Kokatsu spoke while looking at the feather before looking back at Aimi. He went about trying the feather one of the longer strands of wet hair behind his ear, knotting it so the feather dangled like an extension of hair, looking back up at Aimi he started to speak again. ”I think I’ll follow your route now with training, as my muscles are probably spent for the day. If you don't mind I want to work on some of my sensory jutsu, so I might be staring at you in order for the jutsu to work, please dont think im just being creepy or anything. He chuckled after what he said trying to play it off, but thinking that what he said was a little weird too, at least it was better to warn him before he started to train. After their quick chat Kokatsu began to get back to work, wanting to push his abilities now rather than his body.

As he watched Aimi he began to get the preparations down for the jutsu that he wanted to learn, the sensory style jutsu Evaluation. He had heard about how to go about the jutsu and how it should work when it's completed, giving the user a better idea of their opponents strength, but he had never the chance to really evaluate someone before. He weaved the hand seals and activated the prerequisite jutsu, beyond senses, making him able to see a form of Aimi’s chakra, then he set to work. As he started the jutsu he began to try to solely focus on Aimi, letting everything else from the world disappear and so that the only thing he saw was the cloud of chakra that was Aimi. He then set to forming the hand seals of the next jutsu channelling the chakra into his eyes to try and tell the strength of the man. As he held the hand seals he countially tried to push a burst of chakra into his eyes and his sense allowing him to look thoroughly at Aimi as he tried. When push came to show however nothing at all seemed to happen, his head sort of hurt by how much straign he was placing on his eyes, really squinting them to try and make him see better. Kokatsu stopped for a moment after this and thought about the type of jutsu he was trying to pull off, thinking about the sensory type stuff as a whole. He was able to use Beyond senses, but that jutsu didn't really seem like something that he used his eyes for, more or less it was his chakra that was doing the sensing, not his eyes. He decided the way that he was going about mastering the jutsu was wrong and began to try and let his chakra mold together and develop the ability, instead of relying on his eyes to do all the work. He sat down this time and kept focus on Aimi’s chakra and once again be weaved the hand seals for his new jutsu. Wanting to get this one right this time he lingered with the hand seals while he took his time to build up chakra while attempting the jutsu as well. He could feel the power building up in his body as the chakra within him grew stronger, and soon he felt like he had a comfortable about of energy built up. Now he was able to test out some of the way he thought he could see the strength of Aimi, without relying on his sight. He still faced Aimi’s direction and watched him with his eyes, but instead he tried to focus his chakra on Aimi instead of his eyesight alone, doing this he tried to almost connect the two of them together with his dormant chakra. He could feel himself getting closer to what Kokatsu was aiming for with the new jutsu, as the mold of charka from Beyond Senses seemed to grow stronger as he practiced this new technique. The aura around him grew and Kokatsu thought for a moment that this was the jutsu, that this was what he was aiming for, however thinking further on the subject he was still not able to really gage Aimi strength just from that, so in a way the jutsu wasn't working as intended. He decided to take a short break before attempting the jutsu again, as he released the seal and took a couple deep breaths before going back at it.

After resting for a moment Kokatsu took another deep breath and began to ready chakra for the new jutsu. Once again he formed the hand seals by this time he had the memorized and seemed to be able to construct them flawlessly and all the while he built up his own chakra alongside Beyond Senses. He looked once again towards Aimi in order to try and gage his skill, using the chakra that he built up to attempt this. Focus all his attention towards Aimi he began to construct the jutsu from the ground up, looking to use his chakra to gage and mold a more definitive structure of Aimi’s abilities. He began to push his chakra out, using Beyond sense and construct an idea of what he was looking at. Slowly it started to come together, Aimi chakra became more defined and his strength was starting to seem through into Kokatsu mind. Soon enough Kokatsu seemed to be able to tell what his strength was, and it was really high, much higher than Kokatsu. At first he thought that he had done the jutsu wrong, but thinking about it more and continuing to hold the jutsu he figure that what he was looking at was truly how strong Aimi was. He sat for a moment just to make sure that he would remember what the jutsu felt like and how he went about conducting it, and sitting in awe of the strength of the man that he is training with. I guess this is what it takes to be a top tier Shinobi. I have a long way to go before I can even think of being that strong. Still Kokatsu was satisfied with how far he had gotten with the sensory jutsu, he knew it wasn't the easiest jutsu to learn and was happy of the progress he made over the short time, but he still had more that he wanted to learn!

The sensor will activate their sensory jutsu, and then do an additional set of hand seals. By doing so, the user will be able to compare the “strength” of each source of chakra they are able to sense to each other. The “strength” of the individual is determined by the average of each person’s Stamina, Control and Strength stats. The user can determine who has more chakra strength than others, allowing them to pick out possible risks. This technique is not very reliable as a determining factor, however.

Aimi watched as Kokatsu took the feather from him and affixed it to his hair, giving him two feathers in total, and listened to what he had to say. He conceded silently that the boy was probably right. Any more strenuous physical activity would probably end with him tearing at least one muscle. He was honestly surprised that such a thing hadn't happened already, but good fortune was good and he wasn't about to force someone physically inept to do anything that would force them to harm themselves... at least as a form of training he wouldn't. Of course, he couldn't help but think it a bit comical that a bit of push ups and a climb up a waterfall was all that it had taken to push this genin to his limits physically. He couldn't recall a time where he himself had struggled with such a task or indeed if he ever had in the first place!

Unfolding his legs, Aimi stepped into the rushing water and folded his wings behind his back, giving his shoulders a chance to rest as he spoke. "If you're going to be following my lead at every turn, then ninjutsu is the way to go next, yes. Though it should be noted that my wings weren't what I was working on just now... these are," he said, gesturing vaguely all around them, indicating the floating thirty-five ghostly balls of blue fire that stood motionless in the air all around them. "They're kind of pretty, don't you think?" he asked the boy, stepping forward and speaking while he went about performing his own jutsu, trying to gauge the jounin's strength relative to his own, not that Aimi was aware of this of course. As he spoke as Kokatsu performed his jutsu, the sheer insurmountable difference in their strength would become more and more apparent, a benchmark for the Fushinkou to head towards potentially. "Completely harmless of course, without the use of a subsequent jutsu that is..."

The Yamai stopped right in front of Kokatsu, looking down at him sitting in the water, performing his handseals and staring at him. The sensation of being looked at so intently was slightly unnerving, but only on a base surface level. Kokatsu was just using a jutsu to aid in telling the difference between his own experience and Aimi's after all, nothing more. Still, the jounin was apt to push the genin ever further. Bringing his hands up he made a quick series of seals and held out his left hand, creating within his palm yet another ball of dull blue fire and holding onto it. "Like this one, for example," he said casually before bending over and thrusting his left arm forward, planting the ball of fire onto the genin's chest and transferring a bit of his chakra in order to make it stick. "Don't worry, it's completely harmless like the ones around us, but when used with others..." he trailed off, not feeling he needed to repeat himself.

Standing up straight again, Aimi stepped around Kokatsu and walked through the field of floating fire he'd created towards the edge of the waterfall. "Well kid, here's your next test and how you earn another feather," he called out, keeping his back turned towards the genin until he reached the edge of the waterfall where he turned and looked back at him. "As a shinobi, you're going to have to get used to expecting the unexpected and being prepared to deal with things coming your way that you're not entirely prepared for. Pro tip? From jounin to genin? I've often found that the most effective method is simultaneously the simplest:" With that said, Aimi brought his hands together and performed yet another string of seals, sending his chakra forth to each of the thirty-five fireballs all around them. As soon as his chakra made contact it was like some ethereal switch had been flipped, activating the ghost-lights and sending them to move in seemingly random directions, all of them moving at once and seeking out heat - several of which immediately began to be drawn to Kokatsu!

"Dodge!" Aimi called out before stepping over the edge of the waterfall and plummeting down into the mist below almost immediately he began to flap his wings to prevent his fall and, moreover, begin his rise as he flew up over the waterfall through the obscuring mist to keep an eye on both his jutsu and the boy that it was going to effect. Each fireball was only moving at the pace of a brisk walk, but all the same there were a lot of them and Kokatsu was tired. Very tired. There was some actual risk of him suffering repeated first degree burns if he wasn't able to think on his feet and avoid the flames; which was why he was currently hovering in the air and keeping an eye on him - just in case he needed to swoop in and save him last minute. Wouldn't do to send a genin to the clinic for successive minor burns from a simple training exercise, after all.
