A forest run-in

Post by Valkier » Sun Jul 24, 2022 5:37 pm

It was early in the day, pre-dawn, when Naohiro flew from his home like a man possessed. He preferred to start his training days in the dark, before most of the village woke to distract him, and before any aides could flag him down and demand his attention for more official duties. He hit the ground running, sprinting at full pace. He was out and away from the Aisu compound in moments, heading into the heart of the village’s noble district. He looped around the imposing spire of the Mizukage’s tower and took to the rooftops on the far side, vaulting from building to building under cover of darkness. Buildings, streets, and plazas quickly vanished into the mists behind him as he careened through then away from the centre of Kirigakure and out into the merchant districts. He dropped down to weave through some alleys and plazas here, dodging between the few working class people who were starting their own days, and making more than a few of them panic from his sudden appearance and motion. He cut around a large warehouse and working yard to access a row of much shabbier streets, soon crossing out into the run-down slums of the outer districts of the village. Paying little heed to the feeble folk in this part of the city, he planned out the most direct route in his head and passed through without a second glance, keeping up his pace until he reached the edge of the village where it met the waters of the surrounding lake.

Taking a deep breath of the chill morning he, he leapt and landed running onto the surface of the quiet, mist-cloaked lake that shrouded his island village. He smiled; now that he was out here, away from the close streets and scents of the village, he felt much more at peace. Isolated and safe in the mists, where he could see nothing in any direction even with his eyes being well accustomed to the mist technique used to protect Kirigakure. The mists out here felt like home to him almost as much as the village itself did. But sadly he was only passing through for now, and kept running further out, feet hovering on soles of chakra just millimetres above the water’s surface as he stepped.

Before long he hit the far shore and began the climb into the ring of towering mountains, refusing to slow his enthusiastic dash as the incline grew steeper and steeper. There were no easy routes here — not that he’d have resorted to one anyway — and so he threw himself up the impossible slopes, relying on chakra to grip and scale the giant features that surrounded the lake and village far below. At the top he paused only for a moment to admire the view of the rising sun before cresting the ridge and beginning a hasty descent on the other side. He sprinted in a zig-zag down the mountain and skidded directly down the steeper parts, racing to the bottom in a flurry of scree and dust kicked up from underfoot, until the ground eventually began to ease into the foothills at the base of the mountain ring. From there he cut east, following the easy descent of the land and away towards a sparse woodland of thin spindly trees, bamboo, and a tangled mat of bushes at ground level. Instead of fighting his way through those, Naohiro leapt up into the sea of trunks and branches, vaulting from the vertical poles and relying on his momentum to keep him aloft.

He pressed on until mid-morning before he eventually slowed, considering changing his direction to circle back around towards Kirigakure. No doubt by now he’d be missed, and would arrive back to a mountain of paperwork accrued from the morning jaunt. But then something caught his ear; the swish of foliage, a faint impression of heavy breathing. He frowned, and decided to investigate. Whoever else was nearby didn’t seem to be trying to keep quiet, so they likely weren’t up to anything nefarious. But Naohiro approached in the height of the tree canopy still, just in case, and ready to burst into motion if necessary.

He need not have worried, and after a short flight through the branches soon spotted a young looking Tsukino making his own way through the forest below. Naohiro observed quietly for a moment, being careful to mask the sounds of his own movements all the while, before eventually hopping down to approach.
”Good morning,” he raised a hand to hail the other ninja, keeping his tone light. ”I couldn’t help but hear you stomping your way back towards home as I passed. You should be more careful.” He tilted his head, considering the man, eyes landing first on the black hilt of the sword on his back, then the claw-like fingers and muscled physique. He gave the impression of a teenager who did nothing by accident. “Unless… You wanted to be found?”

“I suppose the office could manage a little longer without me, if you were looking for someone to go a few rounds with. I wouldn’t say no to the exercise; I’m warmed up and could use something to break the monotony of just running. How about it?” He raised a fist and flexed it, then looked back at the young man with a questioning eyebrow raised.

A forest run-in

Post by Zao » Mon Jul 25, 2022 12:05 am

A black shadow weaved in and out of the bamboo forest portion that lay outside the main part of the Hidden Mist village, though still on the manmade island that sat in the middle of a manmade lake. All products of the first and second Kage who sought to break away from the iron fist of Konoha and brought about the formation of this grand village were only strength mattered. The dark blur that moved with great speed and agility as it dodged through the tall bamboo shoots of the trees belonged to a single tailed, black furred Tsukino genin who was leaned forwards slightly allowing him to move with great straight-line speed through the head high mist that concealed everything under one and a half meters from sight, limiting the vision of those within it to only around ten to fifteen feet at most. Stacked on top of this limiting factor was that it was still before even morning nautical twilight when the rays of sunlight would first start to illuminate the horizon to signal that the sun would soon be rising in the eastern mountain tops that surrounded the grand lake in which the village sat. Within this dark mist the body was still able to freely navigate the different twisting pathways that were like a maze with seemingly little to no trouble as the three-inch foxlike ears on either side of his head were continuously twitching back and forth as the tiny special hairs within each of the ears allowed the user to see in a form of echolocation that formed within their mind.

Upon closer inspection, one would see that the shinobi's eyes were actually closed at this point allowing for him to completely focus on feeling out the terrain as he moved faster as he became more comfortable with the terrain and jumped up and to the right as chakra flowed naturally into both of his feet before he used the trunk of a nearby bamboo tree to spring off of to propel himself higher before he reached out with his clawed left hand, extending it out to the left as its fingers clung to the trunk of another tree. Four sets of claw marks from the youth's fingernails appeared as he allowed his momentum to carry him around in a ninety-degree sudden turn followed by kicking off another tree trunk as the left hand reached back taking a firm grip on the one-handed hilt of his sword. Flipping forward in midair his feet extended forward almost like he was about to dropkick as he landed horizontally against another tree trunk that bent under the weight of him flying into it before it rebounded and sent him flying back in the other direction as he extended his bent legs adding speed to the natural flex of the tree. Floating in the air the crystalline blade that was almost completely see through slashed out at a small orb that was red in color and was hanging from a thin piece of ninja wire about eight meters from the ground. With a clean diagonal slash from high to low as the blade was drawn from its sheath it cut the orb cleanly in half as the left side that was no longer attached to the wire fell with a gentle thud in the dense mist below.

'I was about five seconds faster than the last time I came here; I'm finally starting to grow stronger. But this...' Twisting his body and finishing a half somersault the boy sheathed his weapon as he also fell into the mist causing for it to briefly spread out from him as his body created a small wave of air pressure as each foot touched down on the damp ground. "...but it still isn't enough..." The last words were mumbled to himself aloud, his head shaking lightly as he stood up straight and for the first time opened his eyes revealing a set of sharp grey eyes, a flicker of murderous intent located within them. Since becoming an official dagger for the Swordsman, he had improved, but he was still nowhere near strong enough to challenge his mentor Hitachi, the third blade, or even his retired father who had beaten him unconscious in their last exchange. Glancing over his left should, he looked up to see the partial red ball that was still hanging by the nigh invisible thread of ninja wire at the moment. This was a simple test that his Swordsman mentor had used to test him the first time a few weeks ago and to teach him to rely upon his natural gifts as a Tsukino to fight, ever since then he had been coming to train here by himself every two or three days between the other training requirements that the older Tsukino had placed on him. It seemed like if he wasn't out on an official mission or business for the Swordsman Organization then he was training. But after the words of Shinjiro at the last full meeting of the group, this was probably for the best, his target was the seventh blade and he wanted to use that steppingstone to propel himself into greatness...

Finished for the morning, he began to rapidly move back towards the village to eat breakfast and check in with Hitachi-san before grabbing some breakfast in order to prepare for the scheduled sparring that he had this afternoon with the other daggers. Combat was the only way to truly increase one's swordsmanship. 'Who's here?' As he was moving along within the mist a faint sound caught his ears, the special hair like membranes vibrating as the blurry shape of figure came into view within his mind. As the figure hopped down from above the youth skidded to a stop as his body twisted around and a clear crystal blade was unsheathed and was pointed in the direction of the stranger who began to speak, though he was almost immediately able to recognize that it was a fellow Kiri-nin as they began to speak but that still didn't allow for the razor thin blade's point to lower from the stranger's chest who was five to six meters away from him. "Hmp!" At the mention of him 'stomping around' from Naohiro, Hisato frowned lightly, he hadn't been worried about being quite here and that was his mistake as he knew how to quietly move through the tree line when needed. "A few rounds, eh?" The frown twisted into a slight smirk as the mist here was pretty thick and he formed a series of one handed seals while quietly memorizing the man's face and body size. "Lets do that...heh." With a light laugh the mist began to become thicker, as he used his own personal mist technique that radiated out from him filling an area around him of thirty meters that mixed with the natural mist. Then he closed his eyes and began to move as his movements became much quieter, silent in fact to the ears of most who weren't well practiced in advanced hearing techniques as he focused on the movement of and sounds of his body as he moved circling around to the Jounin's right side staying just between seven to eight meters away at this point attempting to feel out the strength of this man he'd just met.

Invisible Blade

Description: A sword with a slender metallic hand-crafted hilt of a dark purple and black metal six inches in length, meant for being wielded with a single hand and from the hilt extended a clear blade that seemed to be forged from some sort of rare crystalline material. The blade is rather thin and long, being less than an eighth of an inch thick, two inches in width, and thirty inches in total length. Sheathed over the man's left shoulder in a plane black sheath.

Strength: 16

Effect 1: The transparent structure of the Crystal Blade is very difficult to see, especially when wielded by the Fox shinobi. To accurately see the movements and attacks of the blade the enemy needs to possess at least a B-rank Visual perception technique.

Effect 2 The glass like sword has a truly nasty, jagged edge along both cutting sides and its sharp piercing tip. Those wounded by the blade causes a target to bleed excessively, because of this the target will suffer a [-3] Endurance Debuff for the next [3] posts. Requiring medical attention to be healed from.

The practitioner of Yoshin further enhances their knowledge of the human body. This Discipline represents the practitioner's knowledge of the precise location of all joints, tendons, and nerve points on both their body and the opponent's body. This allows the practitioner to accurately target those areas even in the heat of combat.

Shadowy Mist Technique
C-rank Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: Hidden Mist Technique, Mist Anchoring
After forming the required hand seals, the ninja creates a blanket of mist which covers the area around them, moving at [Control Speed attempting to remain centered on the shinobi as they move. The mist covers 30x30x30m area. The mist limits the visibility of those inside to 2 meters in any direction, while the thick mist dampens scents, weakening any advanced scent techniques. Due to the natural damping nature of this technique "Visual" and "Scent" based perception techniques loose one rank of effectiveness while inside the mist. This technique lasts a number of posts equal to the user's [Chakra Pool/2].

Prereq: Stealth Conc
Having mastered control over his body, the fox-like shinobi has developed the ability to naturally move about without making excess noise or sound. Requiring his opponent to have an equal ranked Hearing Perception technique to detect the user's movements through sound alone.

Basic Hearing Enhancement
C-Rank Taijutsu Stance
Prereq: Perception Conc
Concentrating upon the special furs that reside inside the ears of the Tsukino, the user will stimulate them allowing for their natural ability to become amplified. His powerful enhanced echolocation-style hearing, in point. These enhanced furs allow for the fox shinobi to extend their senses: Without adequate water a Tsukino’s sense extends around them for (Stat Total/6) meters and can form rudimentary shapes and images in that radius but no further. Vibrations caused by water being interacted with, or vibrations traveling through water, can project much further and are much more clearly defined, up to (Stat total/3) meters out.

"That's what I like to hear." Naohiro smiled, partly at the accepted challenge, and partly at the thickening mists which followed the young Tsukino's hand seals. His mind flickered back to another fight in similar mists, years past now, when he faced his friend and rival Kinsue for the right to call themselves Chuunin. Good times. Simpler times. Lately he'd been considering researching the mist style himself, so practising in it's grip today was ideal.

As the mist began to thicken he darted away to the right, ensuring that the last thing the Tsukino saw and heard was his motion away in that direction. But after a half dozen or so metres, when he was sufficiently masked by the mist's coverage, Naohiro's gait abruptly changed. He rose up to move lithely on the balls of his feet, knees slightly bent and moved with his weight held and shifted in careful balance, just so. Now, when he suddenly stepped back to circle around towards the left side of his opponent instead, he did so in total and utter silence. This was a test for himself as well as for his adversary; he'd heard about the Tsukino's remarkable gifts, but rarely seen them in action first-hand. His squad leader, Tsukino Jhin, was an exceptional tracker—second to none in the Hunters—but nowadays spent most of his off days behind a desk rather than in training. Unfortunate, given his talents.

He circled slowly around where he thought the Tsukino would be, moving in total silence and listening intently for any sign of motion. The rustle of clothing, the creak of footwear, the wet press of weight on soggy ground. He was reminded again of a different fight, but one far different from that of his chuunin exam, and one in which his and the Tsukino's places had been reversed; when Naohiro had sparred with the legendary Kaikyo Kohon, once-overseer of the Seven Swordsman, in the days before his rampage and death in the village council chambers. Good times. Perhaps not simpler ones.

Kohon's mastery of the silent fighter style had far surpassed Naohiro's training, of course. His own talents, and priorities it had to be said, lay elsewhere. But even so this was a valuable skill and so, in the moment while listening for and stalking the Tsukino genin, Naohiro committed to trying to refine the art. Kohon, as he'd personally and painfully experienced all those years ago, had been able to track a person through nothing more than the simple beating of their heart, and over surprising distances. Naohiro strained his hearing, searching, searching, hoping... there.

Naohiro's enhanced hearing zoned in on the subtle sound of moving cloth and breathing, suggesting that the Tsukino had moved to his own left after dropping the mist. If Naohiro's moving feint had worked, his opponent would be expecting him to still be ninety degrees away from Nao's true location, sneaking through the thick mist. He tensed, pausing for a moment to listen and confirm his mark, then burst into motion and sprinted towards the Tsukino at full speed, hopefully getting the jump on him from the unexpected direction as he zipped out of the mist. As soon as Naohiro closed to within two metres and caught visual of the young man, he dropped down to skid along the ground and kick the genin's legs out from under him as he passed. Then, once their legs were entwined, he twisted, spinning around in an attempt to to both kick the falling Tsukino away and regain his own footing. Successful or not, he'd recover and continue his run, dashing away back into the cover of the mist and resuming his silent circling...

His knees were bent slightly as he moved to his left and the jounin's right, the mist continuing to thicken and 'encroach' as the youth opened his senses, focusing completely on two things. The first being his own body movements to ensure that not only his body but his clothing remained as silent as he could make it at the moment while still being able to move quickly. Secondly, was that he increased his focus on his own special form of sensory as he used the mist that he'd created to serve as a conductor for the special membranes within his foxlike ears as they twitched like those of a canine slightly to the front and then back to the side. 'I can't hear his movement at all but...' His normal sense of hearing couldn't pick up any of the man's movements or even his heartbeat, through some manner of either ninjutsu or sheer technique the fellow Mist shinobi was able to move about nigh undetected by the normal senses. The only thing that Hisato had to still detect the unknown shinobi's movement was the vibrations created as he had to move through the mist around them, despite it not creating any audible sound the movement of the mist was all the Tsukino needed to make out where and what the man was doing, at least to an extent as the he smiled a bit. It was interesting to meet another shinobi who was able to move as quietly and skillfully as his mentor Hitachi, the third blade of the Mist Swordsmen, it was encountering and fighting such a level of opponent as this one that would allow for him to improve his personal skills and test out his own growth from the new training regime that he'd been placed on by his Mentor. 'This will be interesting.'

Though he moved with rather impressive precision and technique to shroud the sound of his own movements, the fighter in the mist alongside him was more experienced than he was at fighting within such an obscuring environment and would be able to make out the faint sounds of his feet moving across the damp forest soil. It only took a few moments of him moving to realize that the movement pattern of Naohiro seemed to almost mimic his own, leading him to make his own assumption that the man wasn't fooled by his stealth technique and could at least hear some semblance of his movements. Understanding that he would be unable to fully take the man by surprise with his mist and movement techniques, Hisato knew that he'd have to tip the edge in his favor and as he seemed to circle slightly further away attempting to keep his distance still at this point the man. He started with a one hands set of seals as he side-stepped to his right changing his movement direction before dispersing an invisible wave of chakra through the mist that both of the Kiri ninja were within at the moment. This was him using his illusionary technique known as [Shifting Blade] but he wasn't finished there as the single right hand began to immediately move into another series of hand seals in order to cause a second invisible wave of chakra to be infused with the mist and into Naohiro to if he was still in contact with the youth's Hidden Mist technique that appeared to follow his very moments. The second technique he used was another illusionary technique that he had named simply [Multiplying Strike], allowing for the man to use his mist as a type of conduit to double stack two separate genjutsu quietly onto the mind of his foe.

For the moment the young Tsukino attempted to truly work on creating and defining his own fighting style, a mixture of the silent stalking style that many Mist shinobi had been known for, combining that with the pinpoint style of attacks from the Yoshin branch of Kenjutsu that his swordsmanship mentor Hitachi used with his rapiers, then lastly, he tried to combine his own self-created genjutsu that worked to create slight differences in the reality that the target's perceived. Believing that the more realistic the illusion the easier it would be to use and fool a target into a false sense of security. Even though he knew the path that he wanted to carve out for himself he was still at truly the most basic level for all three areas and knew that it would be a rather long road ahead of him in order to combine all of them into his own personal style of combat. As he had changed directions the man seemed to suddenly burst forward towards him, this only serving to confirm that assumption that he'd made that his opponent was able to still hear his movements and the natural sounds of the body that Hisato had been attempting to compress. His movements were fast, not as fast as his father and nowhere close to Hitachi's, but still too fast for him to fully avoid or dodge and instead he was forced to attack himself as the man rapidly close the distance perhaps disrupting the man's attack plan. Hisato's left arm shot out into the mist as Naohiro pushed to advance in range, a series of nigh invisible slashes of a blade pushed out to greet the fellow shinobi aimed for his chest and abdomen region as if he could see the blade it would appear to strike ahead of where one could actually see the blade and it came in three attacks per slash. ' Incurvate Arrow!' This was caused by one jutsu causing the blade to appear as though it was slower than it actually was and the second jutsu caused for it to appear that the youth had three arms that were attacking at the same time with each of the attempted three back-to-back slashes from the left hand. These two deceptions wrapped into the same series of strikes, stealth and misdirection ran hands in hand with one another and the Dagger was attempting to land a strong starting blow against this figure.

Mist technique - Expanded to 33 Meters, mist passive.

Tsukino Ability

The main ability of these foxes however are their extrasensory systems. A Tsukino’s ears are laced with vibration sensitive fur that forms the basis of a network of sensory paths in their brain, allowing them to feel nearby vibration as a form of sonar-sight. This works only in a small space around them but is greatly enhanced by nearby water as the liquid vibrations carry cleanly to their ears, allowing them to hear disturbances to water especially well. Even masses of vapor such as mist transmit such vibrations well. Without adequate water a Tsukino’s sense extends around them for (Stat Total/10) meters and can form rudimentary shapes and images in that radius but no further. Vibrations caused by water being interacted with, or vibrations traveling through water, can project much further and more clearly, up to (Stat total/5) meters out.

Genjutsu Used

[Genjutsu • Shifting Blade]
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
The user will do a series of hand seals, one handed if holding a weapon/sword, anyone that comes into contact with one of his Mist techniques in the next two posts after the completion of the user completing their hand seals will activate the illusion. For the following 4 posts, when the user attacks with their weapon the vision of the target(s) will be slightly altered. This causing for them to see the blade of the user's sword as though it was six inches behind where the true blade is, allowing them to see just an illusionary blade instead of the real one.

[Genjutsu • Multiplying Strike]
C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
The user will do a series of hand seals, one handed seal if holding their weapon, anyone that is touched by one of the user's mist techniques in the next two posts of the user finishing their hands will fall under the illusion and be captured in this genjutsu. For the following 5 posts, when the user attacks with their weapon the arm striking with the weapon will appear to split into two additional arms as all three attack the target striking at three different angles. Making it more difficult to defend against the oncoming strike.

Tai used

*[Yoshin • Incurvate Arrow]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Targeting the opponents torso and abdomen, the practitioner launches a series of quick snapping slashes. These lashes produce a series of evenly spaced cuts across the target's abdomen and torso. While these cuts are not life-threatening, the damaged muscles prohibit the opponent from fully drawing strength from their core and back into their limbs. Aside from causing significant pain, this technique also imposes a persisting -3 Endurance penalty on the opponent due to the damage the muscles have sustained. This penalty can be lifted if the opponent receives medical attention.

Blood Drop Thrust
D Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The user will specifically aim a fast and precise stab from his sword or other weapon(s) directly into the face/head of a target and in turn potentially the skull of his opponent. From the front the target point is usually the eye(s) of the target, being the softest target pathway into the brain and from behind is the base of the skull where it meets the spinal cord. While truly nothing more than a fast, simple stab, if landed in the right place it could easily become a fatal strike for their enemy.

Naohiro's sprint out of the mist towards the Tsukino genin unfolded a little differently than he'd initially planned. For one, he didn't expect his young opponent to be ready and waiting for him, his stance and grip of his hands suggesting a weapon of some kind; clearly his own attempts at stealth and misdirection hadn't been sufficient. Perhaps he had underestimated his sparring partner, or simply overestimated his own ability when facing someone with obvious natural talents in those areas. Was the boy a specialised tracker, like Tsukino Jhin, or was it a general trait of their kin? The curious, analytical part of Naohiro's mind craved more data on the matter. But that would have to come later. For now, he should probably concentrate on their little bout.

As Naohiro approached and prepared to drop and skid towards the boy to kick the legs out from under him, the Tsukino further surprised him by meeting the charge with his own, coming right at Naohiro. Though it seemed like he was wielding something, Naohiro's eyes couldn't quite adjust in the moment to catch a good view of it. Naohiro still thought to drop to the ground with intent to kick the boy down. But as Hisato's shoulder and arm began to move, hands and hilt licking out in a flurry of precise movement, his motion split before Naohiro's eyes into multiple copies, each striking at a different point and angle.

And so Naohiro abandoned his plan to drop and skid, instead adjusting his angle and speed to try and weave to the left around Hisato's swing and put himself inside the boy's guard. He ducked and swayed his body at the last moment in reaction to the incoming attacks, thinking that even though he couldn't clearly see the weapons, he was still fast and perceptive enough to predict their paths and avoid them using the way Hisato moved as a reference. He tried to analyse his opponent's motion carefully and swung his body back and away of a flurry of strikes. But, just as he thought he'd avoided the attack, and despite seeing a blur of motion moving ahead of him like a missed slash thanks to his last minute dodge, he felt a line of tension score across his chest as something bit into and tugged at the front of his armoured flak jacket. Strange. It wasn't that the young man was blindingly fast, since Naohiro could easily follow the movement of his body and lines of the attacks, but rather that his weapon — difficult to see as it already was — seemed to be striking in a different place to where it should be given the angle of its wielder's hand.

Now so up close and realising he couldn't properly anticipate the weapon — especially with its duplicates appearing and swinging alongside — he chose to try stay within its reach for long enough to land a blow of his own. He continued his run and barelled directly into Hisato, throwing his arms around the younger man in an attempt to find and trap his real arms and pin them to his sides. As soon as he seized a hold of the Tsukino he'd pivot, shifting his weight and simultaneously stepping into and between his opponents legs to intertwine them in his own and prevent a counter-kick, then he'd spin and lift, hoisting his opponent off the ground and throwing him bodily down to the ground at his feet.
As he did so, however, he kept a grip on the arm in which Hisato held his hilt, using his superior strength to ensure that not only did the mysterious weapon stay pointed away from himself during the throw, but also attempting to haul it away from the Tsukino and disarm him during the throw.

After the series of manoeuvres Naohiro hopped backwards, keeping the weapon if he'd managed to pull it free, and using his speed advantage — and the moment of grace if he'd completed the throw while Hisato recovered — to keep two metres back from his opponent and watch from as far back as the thick mist would allow.

"Well, now. This is a pleasant surprise," he smiled and raised a hand, conceding the hit that had struck his jacket a moment before. "Were I a peer on your own level, I fear that could've been a nasty hit, perhaps enough to decide a fight. What a way to start the battle." He was confident that the first part of that attack, with the splitting weapon into three copies, was a simple and rather obvious illusion, especially given that only one line had been scored into his jacket despite the three swords. How and when the Tsukino had cast his genjutsu, Naohiro wasn't sure. But to then hide within that technique a second illusion to make the weapon appear in the wrong place — unless that was a property of the strange semi-transparent thing itself — was exceptionally clever. Here was a genin who, without so much as faltering, had already demonstrated competence with ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu, plus obvious talent in concealment and tracking. That wasn't so exceptionally rare in genin, but to so effortlessly combine all of it into one magnificent and effective combat style was something else. Perhaps Naohiro had guessed his rank wrong, and the young man was actually a chuunin?

Jutsu UsedShow
[Sentry's Eye] (insufficient to see the sword properly, but used to help read body movements and estimate attack paths)
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception]

The user focuses their keen senses on to a specific target or point, allowing them to see through intricate distractions to maintain their focus on and follow a target's movements. This allows the user to see through common feints to percieve the real attack beneath, as well as keep track of a target moving at a speed equal to or lower than that of the user.

[Evasive Combat]
B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Close Quarters Combat], [Perception]

The user has ingrained in themselves the importance of watching an opponent's motions, enabling themselves to instincively react in a defensive manner to incoming strikes. This allows the user to duck, weave, and twist their body to evade or lessen the impact of attacks, so long as the user's speed is equal to or greater than that of their opponent.

Submission into Heaven and Earth and Disarm:

[Submission]
D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: [Close Quarters Combat]

A rudimentary close-quarters grappling technique, this requires the user to gain a firm hold upon an opponent, usually around an arm, leg, neck, or chest. The user then firmly pulls to twist their opponent around and attempts to physically overpower them by locking the opponent's limbs against their bodies and preventing them from moving freely. This requires the user to have a strength greater than the opponent, and can be held to incapacitate an opponent for a maximum of two posts if successful.

[Heaven and Earth]
C-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: [Close Quarters Combat], [Submission]

After successfully grappling an opponent and limiting their movement, the user attempts to hoist them into the air by lifting over their head before twisting and uncoiling their body like a spring to launch the held opponent directly downwards to the floor infront of the user's feet, typically orientated so that the target will land on their back or head to maximise damage. Opponents with a strength less than the user's will be disorientated for one post due to the sudden jarring impact.

[Disarm]
C-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: [Close Quarters Combat]

A staple technique to fight against armed opponents, the user has learnt to strike at hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders in a manner that has a high chance to cause an opponent to release a held object or weapon. This is most effective when counterattacking after evading an incoming strike, or after gaining a firm hold of an opponent. Foes with a strength stat greater than the user's will be unaffected by this technique.

A forest run-in

'Hah, foolish.' As the man entered the range of sight for the thick mist that tracked the user who had casted as an overlay upon the natural bed of fog that lingered within the area around the pair, Hisato couldn't help but have a half smirk upon the lips but that quickly changed as the triple slash went out but the man's own skill and intuition was enough to case the blade to now sink itself deep into the flesh of the shinobi's upper torso. Instead, there was a strange tension on his blade as it scrapped past the thick flak jacket of the higher tiered shinobi. But he could tell that even though the strike had managed to tear at the outer cloth of the flak it didn't even manage to penetrate a centimeter further, as though there was actually some sort of armored aspect to the jounin's vest. Perhaps that was why the slightly older ninja was so daring as to push head long into the strike having faith in not only his own closer range combat skills but in the armor like jacket he was wearing.

Only one word entered the youth's mind at that very moment as the slash cut a jagged tear within the armored jacket due to the serrated edge of the crystalline blade of the young Tsukino's weapon but as it had missed its target, the arm left him open to the coming counter attack from the other man who moved with a well-practiced footwork as the black eared genin attempted to keep pace and step back to avoid being put into a clench. But the different in straight line speed between the retreating genin and the advancing jounin was simply too much to over coming with skill as he found the man stepping into his guard before he could retract his blurry blade, his body chest to chest against his own as one arm locked out his left arm preventing him from pulling away to create the space to attack again or recover his on footing. 'Shit!'

A swordsman's worse spot to be in was grappling range with an opponent and that was exactly where he had found himself and Hisato knew that his own hand-to-hand skills weren't that great as he'd always been one to rely upon his own stealth skills to get the drop on the target, never one to engage in hand-to-hand fighting in such an open manner. But before he could even attempt any type of strike, clean or dirty, he found himself lifted from the ground and in an instant slammed straight down into the muddy ground below as the stranger retained control over the left arm which still held the invisible blade. It was enough of a different in strength that it knocked the wind from the young man and caused for him to suck in air as his grip was broken by the disarm technique of Naohiro that finally broke the tight grip Hisato had previously retained on the blade now. "Ugh...." Grunting in pain he forced himself to roll in the opposite direction that his opponent had bounded backwards towards allowing him to just barely disappear into the mist.

Hisato felt naked without blade and as he rolled his right hand dipped into his hip pouch retrieving a small tan hue ball about an inch and a half in diameter and as the roll finished and he found his footing the right hand flashed out tossing the light bomb forward making a one-handed seal while the left hand pulled out a single normal kunai which it held in a defensive reverse grip. 'Kai!' The Tsukino's own eyes were closed at the moment so the bomb that traveled the short distance through the mist between the pair of Kiri-nin didn't affect him as it released a brilliant flash of white light. He wanted to follow up with a strike and close the distance, but he found himself unable to follow up to exploit his attempt at a counter, but he was just now managing to catch his breath from being slammed down so hard on his back a few moments earlier. The flash bomb would explode mid-sentence from the jounin who was attempting to speak with Hisato. To be honest at this point, even though the young man didn't exactly know what he was going to do next due to his own body's condition at the moment and it being in recovery from the powerful slam that felt like it might have possibly broken a rib or two when he was smashed down into the mucky ground, he did know one thing. That the man had his weapon and that really pissed off the youth as he just wanted to find some way or manner that he could strike back at the jounin even if it wasn't a dangerous or lethal manner. 'Take that you bitch...'
