[Mission] Claim the books

Mission AssignmentShow
The men were waiting right outside the village to tell the girl of their discoveries. They made sure she was the one called since she would be the happiest doing this mission. It was a simple mission but they did not know what the dangers were going to be but it should not be that bad they were just going into a cavern that used to be some dudes house.

There were about four men dressed in desert cloaks. They had come from the desert not to long ago. It was easier to do it this way. The four men were hoping the girl would be happy that they made this discovery. It could be a nice addition to the history that has been collected for Suna already.

They were either sitting on rocks or leaning on the walls of suna. There were a few ninjas around them getting there information making sure they were who they said they were. It was going nicely and they did not mind it made Suna safer so why not? They were just hoping it would not take to long before she got there. It was a hot day and they did not want to be in the sun all day.

[Mission] Claim the books

Harun rode down the street with a tired smile on her face, and a tiny, colorful paper umbrella in her hair. As she directed her ten foor tall puppet to transport her to her destination, she couldn't help but remember last night and all the fun that she had had. The moment the meeting with Banin Hito was over, she had immediatly gone home and told her family what had happened. The entire lot of them had completely freaked out. They had all started dancing and skipping around, and declared the entire day a day of celebration! Yama prepared a feast like none before with tons of fruit, and delicious foods. There had been singing, dancing, and all sorts of merry making. They had celebrated until late in the night, which by Haruna's standards meant somewhere around ten o'clock, and then gone to bed. The next morning was the morning of her first book gathering mission, and she couldn't wait. She had even stuck a mini umbrella in her hair that had been in one of the fruit bowls last night to show her enthusiasm.

As she hurried down the street, she saw the ninja who would be guiding her at the end of the village. She had Goliath enthusiastically wave at them with one giant hand while she continued smiling her most enthusiastic, yet still sleepy, smile. She had Goliath walk up the the group, and saluted.

"Ageha, Haruna reporting for duty." said the pink haired girl.

Finally the girl they were waiting for arrived. One of the men got up and went to meet her straight away. He had a jolly look on his face and a spring in his step. This could be a great find. "Hello Haruna. How are you doing this fine day? Are you excited as I am about the find we have? I hope you can get to it we tried and it was just to much of a hassle. Let us go over to the other guys I am sure they would like to say hi to you to." Haruna was the pride and joy to these men, it was nice to have young blood who had as much if not more passion then these men. It is a fear of historians that future generations won't get into history but least these men knew they could entrust it to Haruna and she was so nice too.

The other men got everything settled and waved over to Haruna. It was a nice day and there felt like good luck in the air. They stayed where they were though, it would be easier to talk on the outside of the walls and say good bye to Haruna there then have to deal with security again. They all talked to wall security and got permission for Haruna to come back in and out.

Haruna smiled when one of the men from the group up ahead came to greet her. He seemed nice from what Haruna could tell, and she could practically sense the flair for history in the way he spoke.

"Believe me," said Haruna with a loud yawn and a smile on her face. "I couldn't be more excited. The chance to gather historical artifacts and help the village is a dream come true. I wouldn't miss such a mission for almost anything." And that was true. This mission, and possibly all the ones that followed, would be extremely important. Finding these books not only meant she would have new research materials and help the wellfair of the vilage, but it might also help Haruna to prove her families worthiness for the positions he wanted to assign them to Banin Hito.

She rode forward smiling as she approached the rest of the group. "Hello everyone. Ageha, Haruna of the Rekishi Juu reporting for duty. I shall do my best to make sure the search for the books is fruitful."

The man talking to the girl ninja smiled at her reaction. It was a good thing she was so happy about this mission. If they had to leave their life's work in someones hands this girl would be the one he would choose.

One of the other man walked up to the girl. He held out a map to her. "I marked everything down that you would need to get to your destination. I just have to ask this, you are good at using a map? I don't want to lose you from getting lost." He talked in a little bit of a teasing fashion but he was somewhat serious, she had a good heart and loved history none of these men wanted to lose her.

[Mission] Claim the books

Post by Pokefan137 » Thu Jan 20, 2011 6:00 pm

"Don't worry." said Haruna with a yawn. "I've had pleanty of experience with maps. Granted most of them are over a hundred years old, but I've used some modern maps before."

Haruna's thoughts drifted to the times where Waka, one of her guardians, would show her battle strategies used in ancient times by placing small figures on a large map. He had showed her how to read the markings so she could figure out exactly what the soldiers were doing in real world terms. She had learned a lot about how to read them, but she had only tried following a map once or twice. Usually she just followed as the other members of her family led the way to the dig site.

Putting those thoughts aside, Haruna had Golith reach down to grasp the map being offered to her. The giant puppet lifted the map up to the girl, and she opened it to examine the contents.

"I will be back before you know it." She smiled before Goliath started to move forward. "I want let you down!" she shouted over her should as the giant puppet started to wave behind her.

The men smiled to the girl as they knew that they could trust her with this task. She seem to be completely capable so they did not worry about anything. They grabbed their gear so they could head inside, they did not want to stay outside the city anymore it was way to hot for something like that, Before they went inside they all turned and waved the girl off.

The desert was it's normal hot. The winds in this area had not built up yet. The map had three land marks, one was visible from where the mission started place. It was a large rock. There was no real dangers besides the desert between here and there. Although the desert is a danger in itself there was not extra dangers like whirl winds and all those other things that deserts can dish out.

There was hills between here and there. About ten of them. Some looked big even, this was not something those men did easily. This was a true adventure.

Haruna stared at the map, glaning up every now and then as her mighty quest began. The sun was beating down hard on the desert floor, but Haruna was slight cooler as she sat in the shade of one of Goliath's massive hands which she kept held over her head. The fact that she wasn't actually the one doing the walking helped also, but she still had a long, mostly tiring journey ahead of her. Still, the thrill of adventure and history was in the air, which was all haruna needed to keep her motivated for the journey. The girl looked up from the map and saw a large rock out in the distance, her first landmark. She temporarily tucked the map into one of her hip holsters as she concentrated on fufilling the first leg of her journey. Her massive puppet slowly moved on, taking large strides that threw sand up in the air around his ankles with every step. Haruna would have to be extra thorough in cleaning him when they got back. The first obsticle of the journey came into view, a set of hills blocking the way to her goal. It would take some time to get over them, especially considering that neither her nor her puppet were very fast, but, as the old saying goes, slow and steady wins the race.

Goliaht slowly started walking up the sandy hills before one of his feet slipped on the sand. Haruna was pitched forward as he puppet nearly fell. She stared at the ground ten feet below as she clung desperatly to Goliath's head with one hand, and used the other to put his free hand down on the ground to catch him. The was a loud thump as the puppet's hand hit the ground, followed by the shifting of sand as it slid around the pair. Haruna was clinging to Goliath's head with all the strength in her arm as she hung but three feet above the ground. Slowly she had the puppet standing up, planting his feet firmly before lifting the hand that had been supporting himself to assist Haruna in getting back on his shoulders. Haruna breathed in relief that she had managed to have the puppet catch himself instead falling to the ground, possibly on top of her. She stared up at the hill for a long moment, seeing the difficulties behind it's slippery, sandy slopes. Slowly she had Goliath firmly step forward, planting his foot hard in the ground. She did the same with the next step, and the next, testing his foot hold, before the pair finally started moving at a slower, yet steadier pace. The continued walking up the first hill with strong steps, cresting it after about ten minutes of strong walking a smaller strides. As they crested the hill Haruna stared out at the nine hills they still had to go. It was a beautiful site, but it would take hours just to get over them if she didn't find some way to speed them up. She stared at the downwards slop before them, and had an idea. Slowly she looked down at the hill slope before her as she repositioned herself so her legs were wrapped firmly around her puppet's neck.

With a single movement, Goliath crouched, and sprung foward off the hill. Haruna smiled, the thrill and excitment clear in her sleepy eyes as her pig tails began to float up into the air around her face. She savored the sensation of falling as she move Goliath's legs up into the air, and had him grab his own knees. There was but a moment more of falling before her puppet thumped, rearend first, on the ground. But the puppet still didn't stop moving. Instead he began sliding forward as a speedy pass, the sand beneath him causing him to accelerate more a more as it slide out of the way of his wooden rump. Haruna laughed lightly, smiling, as she picked up spead on top of her wooden companion. The puppet slid all the way to the bottom of the hill in but a minute, but still he didn't stop. Instead, Haruna had him leap to his feet, using the massive momentum of the slide to run up the next hill. The puppet moved faster than it ever had before, slipping and sliding somewhat akwardly as it moved upwards, occasionally using it's hands to keep from falling. Haruna was focused in concentration as she used the movements to keep them going. They began slowling down quickly as the reached the three fourth's mark of the hill, but Haruna kept Goliath pressing on until the pair crested the top. As soon as they did, Goliath leaped once more, pushing off with his strong legs, and began sliding once again, using the slow running start to gather even more momentum than their first slide down the hill.

Haruna laughed once again, still smiling. If she could just keep gaining a continuous stream of momentum, builind with every run and slide, then they might actually make it past the ten hills in fairly good time. Still, that was assuming that nothing occured along the way. Haruna slipped into concentration mode once more as Goliath began running up the third hill moving faster than his slow body had ever carried him before. Though Haruna was completely unused to moving at such a high level of speed, she did her best to keep up as they tried to transverse the ten trecherous hills.

The heat was cooling down clouds were appearing in the sky. The winds had picked up some too, looking out into the distance you could see little tornadoes. They were not big enough to do any damage but it was a sign that the winds were getting stronger. On the map the next destination was an oasis, it was not a big one but it was north east from the rock the genin had got to. The map said about half way there was a flat rock on the ground that was almost perfect round getting to that would mean you were half way there. The distance to the next destination was farther then the rock from the village. Hopefully the wind would not cause any disasters and keep the shinobi more cool in this hot day.

Looking at the sun now by someone who could read the time of the sun would see it was two pm, meaning it was not the hottest part of the day. It did not mean it would be cool but it was better then being the worst part of the day.

Haruna smiled as she stood next to her first landmark, cleaning sand out of Goliath's joints so it wouldn't interfere with his movement. She had made it to the check point in great time, but still, it took a bit of time to get everything cleaned out. Luckily the day was becoming cooler, so overheating wasn't as big an issue as it would have been earlier in the day. After a couple minutes of cleaning, Goliath was once again prepped for travel. Haruna attached her chakra strings to the puppet as she stepped lightly into the palm of his hand. The puppet lifted her once again onto his shoulder, and, after she was comfortably seated, began to walk in the direction of the second landmark.

As the pair made their way through the desert, Haruna noticed minature tornados occuring amoungst the dunes. They didn't seem like they would be too dangerous, but they were very interesting to look at. Haruna stopped to watch the mini-twisters for a moment. They were beautiful in an otherwordly way. Like exotic flowers of the desert blooming and blowing away at varying intervals. As Haruna watched, she saw two of them collide then burst apart in twisting waves of air and sand. No matter how long she stared at them, she couldn't get enough, but she shook herself from her staring, and began moving on. She was on a mission.

Eventually, she came to a large, perfectly round rock in the ground, where she stopped to rest. She had been going for a while, and she thought a short rest would be just what the doctor ordered. As she sat with Goliath beside her, she began once again watching the tornadoes twist and bloom in front of her.

Now getting to the half way point of the two check points was in good timing. It had taken the men four hours to get to back from the destination. Even though she was only partially the way through she had made it faster then it took them. Although that still meant she might not get home till late but not as late as it could have been. Now the winds were starting to pick up, which caused the little tornadoes to disappear. Now all that could be seen was sand, the sand was swirling around in all directions and it was high enough to block from which direction the sun was. Which made it nice and cool on the rock that had once been almost to hot to touch was getting now hot enough for a non-dessert average day rock.

Nothing visible in the distance what was the girl going to do? This was not going to be easy with nothing to go off of, for all the directions shown could land a person back at the village which would meaning starting all over again. Then there was option of waiting till it ended but how long would that last and would it be before the sun went down and the dessert went below freezing that was the choices the girl had to make.

Haruna sat staring for a moment as her tornado flowers dissappeared only to be replaced by a fearsome sandstorm. She sat, squinting her eyes as the winds whipped her pigtails all around her. The petite girl started to slid to the side a bit, but she quickly had Goliath steady her with his hand. The girl sat for a long moment, staring as the sand started to build up against her side. This was definitly not the best situation to be in. She couldn't see anything more than a few feet in front of her, and she currently had no way of telling which direction anything was. After sitting and staring at the sand long enough for most of her lap to get covered by sand, she had Goliath move his massive hands around her, creating a small sort of shelter for her to think about her next move. The large hands met together, one on the side facing against the wind, and one over top of her. She immediatly noticed the noise dye down now that she had the small protection, and took a moment to shake a sandbox worth amout of sand out of her ear.

After dusting herself off, she took out the map from its place on her hip. According to it, she still had a long way to go before her next stop. If she waited for the sandstorm to blow over, it could be well into the night, and possibly even the next day, before she could get moving. She didn't have enough supplies to comfortably last that long, plus it got very cold at night in the desert. She would have to figure out some way to make it to her next destination without 1) getting lost and 2) being scrapped raw by the sand in the air. She thought for a moment before she came up with a plan. She looked down on the map, and saw a compass rose in the corner. She remembered she had traveled north east to get to where she was, and had sat down facing back the way she came. That meant the way she was facing was southwest, which meant north east was directly behind her. She needed to keep going north east to get to the oasis, but she had to have some way of keeping track of her direction. After grabbing the map between her legs, she began making a long string of hand seals, activating several justu. When she was finished, she lifted the map back up towards her face, and noted which way each arrow was pointing. With a wave of her hand, a stone hard compass rose appeared before her, floating in the air. She looked at the compass, and had it move so that southwest was facing directly in front of her and north east was facing directly behind her.

After being satisfied with the position of the compass rose, Harune had Goliath lift up his hands. The sand and wind immediatly buffetted her as she had Goliath lift her once again up onto his shoulders, the compass rose floating up with her, never moving from the way it had been positioned. As soon as she was comfortably seated on the puppet, she waved her hand creating a large, sphereical barrier of words to surround her entire body and a good portion of Goliath's upper torso. The sound of wind immediatly died down until Haruna moved some of the words around to create an eye slight for her to see out off. small amounts of sand and wind blew in through the slit, but it was still much better than being constantly buffeted by it all over. She floated the compass rose in front of her slit, positioning it so it was always at the bottom of her field of view. After creating several smaller barriers of stone hard words to float around, but not on or in, Goliath's joints, the pink haired girl once again began having goliath move forward, this time towards the north easterly direction the compass rose was facing.

As the girl move on, she began leaving a trail of floating, stone hard letter behind her so that if she got lost she could retrace her steps, and so she could make sure that she was traveling in an exactly straight line north east. She hoped that her plan would help her to her next destination, but one could never tell when dealing with the mysteries of the desert.
JutsuShow
Hayaku Kakuno no Jutsu (Speed writing Jutsu)
E-rank Ninjutsu
This is a special jutsu used by scholars that is activated by a one handed handseal. Rather than spending all that time writing their note, this jutsu allows them to automatically write with their minds for ten posts. This can be used to take notes, and make pretty pictures, but cannot write seals. When used by itself, it allows the user to only write on solid objects and surfaces that are up to ten feet away, but this jutsu can be combined with other jutsu to allow it to write on liquids or even the air itself. Also, the writing from this jutsu can be affected by other types of jutsu that would alter writing, such as any jutsu that would make the writing a different color, or a jutsu that would make writing invisible.

Kuchuu Kakuno no jutsu (Air writing technique)
D-rank Ninjutsu
This is a special jutsu that allows the user to write on thin air rather than on actual material for five posts after making the appropriate hand seals. The writing is more or less levitating, and adheres to anything that runs through it as it's floating. The writing will stay floating until something runs into it. If combined with any kind of jutsu that would allow one to write with their mind, or something similar, the writing can be created within a five foot radial sphere of the user, but if written manually, it can be written as far away as the users writing implement can reach.

Kakuno o Ugokimawaru no Jutsu (Technique of moving writing)
D-rank Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: Kuchuu Kakuno no jutsu (Air writing technique)
This jutsu allows the user to move any writing that has been written on the air within a thirty foot radius of themselves at a speed equal to the average of their ninjutsu and control stats for five posts after making the appropriate handseals. This is very convenient if you are in a large lecture hall trying to write a bunch of stuff, but don't want to have to keep going from one bunch of floating notes to the other. This jutsu is not limited in the ways they can move the writing. This means that the user can rotate the writing, make it undulate, or take pieces away from certain sections of note, and move them to other sections of note.

Ishi no Kanuno no Jutsu (Stone Writing Technique)
C-rank Fuuinjutsu
This is a special jutsu that makes anything that the user writes for the next 7 posts as hard as stone. This may seem weird, but it makes it so the writing will never smudge, and, if combined with other jutsu, it can be used for defense and/or offense. If words written with this jutsu are written in the air, they take on a hardened quality, no longer automatically sticking onto whatever surface passes through them, but becoming more like floating pieces of stone than anything else. It takes 4 strength to break through words at this level.

The travel was not easy with the wind beating on the puppet. It was not hard enough to cause much real harm but it was something you did not want to put something you don't want damaged through to the whole day. Sands shifted making things harder to get through but in the end the girl arrived to the end of the sand storm and by the time it was clear to see the oasis was visible in front of her. The journey had been made this far, there was still things ahead but getting out of the storm would be a positive thing.

The oasis was not that big, it was about the size of four horses. It had a four trees around it making there be a nice shade with the small little pond right next to it. There was no food on the oasis, not even on the trees. There was a few holes around the oasis though, which looked suspicious. The map did not say anything about them since the men were not willing to investigate.

Haruna smilled as the storm finally dissipated. It was so wonderful not to have the wind echoing all around her any more. She moved the words of her shield away to simply float losely around Goliath's body, expossing her to the much appreciated sun. She soaked in the sunlight with a relaxed smile before looking to the oasis ahead. Having Goliath lift a hand, and help her down from his shoulder, she turned back to note the damage the sand had done. It wasn't too too bad, but she would definitly need to make some repairs and do a lot of cleaning once everything was said and done. Still, his surface looked a lot smoother than it had from all the sanding.

She turned around with her words floating behind her. She could just leave them floating in the air back around the puppet, but now that she had gone to all the trouble of creating them, she might as well keep them handy. She walked down to the oasis, and knelt down on the sand around it. She cupped her hands, and dipped them in the water, feeling the cool liquid wash over her skin as it filled her palms. She lifted the cupped water to her mouth to take a deep drink. It felt so wonderful to have fresh water, though she still had other bottles of water and other various supplies sealed away in Goliath's back just for the trip. As she knelt by the water, relaxing, she noticed some holes surrounding the oasis.

The pink haired girl stared at them for a moment. The map hadn't said anything about them. She wondered if perhaps the other histrians had tried digging her to see what they would find. She stood up slowly, brushing off her knees before walking over to the hole. She beant over with a sleepy expression on her face, and looked down into the hole to see what was inside.

[Mission] Claim the books

The hole was not that big around. It was deep though and with how the light was shining you could not see very far in the hole. There was movement in the hole though, it looked about the same color as the darkness so telling what they were as of yet would be very difficult.

Another problem going on while the girl was checking the hole. Whatever was in the hole had come out of another hole and started crawling all over the puppet. They could do nothing to the puppet but they were making problems to go back onto the puppet.

They were spiders trying to get a meal. They had not attacked the girl yet since it was still moving they were preparing to attack but staying in the darkness till they were ready to attack. The ones on the puppet though it was a dead animal ready to feast on but finding out it was wood they are just checking it just in case they could find food.

These were black spiders. They had a descent amount of fur and were about as big as a golf ball. They were poisonous of paralyzing poison. They liked to eat their prey alive.

[Mission] Claim the books

'There's something...'

Haruna stared into the depths of hole. She knew there was something moving down there. She just had absolutely no idea what it was. She was curious, but long ago she had learned that sticking your hand into dark places to find out what was there was generally a bad idea. She turned to fetch Goliath so he could get it, and gasped. Her precious puppet! It was alive!!!

Well, technically it was covered in a second skin of living things, but was still astonishing. Haruna stared. Her breathing quicked. Her eyes widened about a centimeter, which, for Haruna, was a sign of absolute shock. She stared at the creatures covering her puppet.

“They're...beautiful.” Her eyes glistened as she stared. If there were three things Haruna was truly passionate about in life, it was history, fruit, and arachnids. And insects. And her family. And doing what was right and helping to build a better future. Come to think of it there were many things in life Haruna was passionate about, in her own generally sleepy way, but arachnids were somewhere up there.

She quickly looked back towards the hole behind her, standing up in the process. That must be what filled the hole. More spiders! The pink haired girl started conjuring words, preparing to put walls of words together into a stone box to hold all the new pet spiders she would have when she remembered her mission. She still had a long way to go, and not too much time to do it. If she took the spiders along, she would have to hunt food for them, stop to make sure they were okay, talk to them. Pets were a lot of responsibility, especially to a shinobi. With a sigh she turned to her puppet.

She looked at the spiders with sadness. They looked so eager to come with her, already hopping on her puppet for a ride to their no home. It was like looking into the faces of a thousand tiny puppies. With sadness in her eyes, she moved some of her stone words over to her puppet, and began using them to try and brush some of the arachnids off the puppet. She then moved several of her words down near the ground, almost touching it. Slowly she moved the words in a circle around her, then started moving them fast until they formed a fast, rotating barrier around the bottom of her legs. She didn't want the dears tring to hide in her sock to get home. The girl turned and started walking towards the water, with chakra strings extending back out of her fingers towards her puppet, The puppet jerked to life, and, with slow steps, began following behind. The girl began walking around the oasis, her rotating words still aiming to protect her.

Angrily the spiders were being pushed aside. They did not want their prey to get away. The strange objects that were surrounding the prey were making it so they could do nothing about it, which just made them angrier. After a little while of watching their prey get away they decided it was best to go back to their holes. It was not going to do them good if they wasted all their energy on something they could not catch, there would always be more prey later on.

The water glistened as the day bore on, The dessert was calm compared to how it was earlier. The sun was now drifting farther and farther down. Even with that the light had not faded but it did cause a little bit of a shimmer off the oasis that could be something to die for. It was an event that only happened during this time when the light hit the oasis just right and caused a beautiful array of colors all over the place.

"Wow."

Haruna stopped just as she had been about to leave the oasis area. She had watched silently as the sun had started to set, but seeing how the sun was reacting with the water was breath taking. There were so many colors. Rarely did one see something such as this in the desert. Water was scare as it was, and rainbow colors of light like this were almost never seen except through crystals. Seeing the colors play and dance over the water was a very different experience.

The girl didn't move excpe tot bring her massive puppet closer to her. Briefly she made sure that her puppet was spider free ,since she didn't want to accidently take anyone away from their family, before having Goliath lower a massive hand to the ground. The girl stepped lightly onto the hand before the hand rose up and over Goliath's head until it was fully extended above him. Haruna looked down from her new angle, admirng sun and water from up above. The colored lights danced over her skin, making her smile and even laugh. Something about the lights made her feel giddy which was rare considering how sleepy she usually was.

As she stared down at the water, she had a sudden impulse to jump from her tall perch, down into the rainbow waters, and swim amoungst the colored lights, but she held back. As much as she watered to, she couldn't put her entire mission on hold for a swim. She wanted to stay in this place, to play with the spiders and swim in the water and dance amoungst the shimmering colors, but she had a duty. She had to get those books. Just as she was about to start leaving again, a thought occured to her. She had Goliath walk over to one of the trees, and lower her to the trunk. With a couple of quick handsigns, she pressed both her hands against the wood of the tree. Two seal directly above each other appeared, one with the symbol for "watch" and the other the symbol for "listen." She smiled as she activated the seals.

The two seals together would record every sight and sound that could be seen from their position. She would come back one day, and then she would be able to see all that she had missed. She could watch the spiders at their play, and see the sparkling lights once more no matter what time of day it was. She smiled one more time before she had Goliath start to move out and away from the oasis. Her puppet was a little shaky from all the chakra she had used so far in her mission. She would probably need to find some place to rest up ahead. She need to regain her strength. A

As the pink haired girl rode on, she removed the map from her hip, and unfurled it once more to see where her next destination was.

Mi Chouin no Jutsu [Sight Seal Technique]
D-ranked Ninjutsu
After making the appropriate hand signs the user is able to create a special seal with the symbol for “Watch” in the middle. The seal can range anywhere from 1/2 to 6 inches in diameter. Upon its activation the seal will record anything it sees until the user of the jutsu tells it to stop. All the visual information contained within the seal can then be viewed by placing a hand to the seal, closing ones eyes, and activating it with chakra. This technique is wonderful for spying, and can be used to keep track of everything that goes on in an area for a long period of time even while the user is far away. Note: The user must be touching the spot where the seal is to be placed unless a different jutsu allows otherwise.

After making the appropriate hand signs the user is able to create a special seal with the symbol for “Listen” in the middle. The seal can range anywhere from 1/2 to 6 inches in diameter. Upon its activation the seal will record anything any sounds that reach it until the user of the jutsu tells it to stop. All the sounds contained within the seal can then be heard by either placing touching it and applying chakra, or simply by just adding chakra. If the user is touching the seal, then only they hear the sounds contained, but if chakra is applied without touching, then the sound will play out loud. This technique is wonderful for spying, and can be used to keep track of everything that goes on in an area for a long period of time even while the user is far away. It can also be used as a distraction if the sound is played out loud. Note: This jutsu can hear and record any sounds that a slightly above average human ear could hear within the distance that they could hear it.

The map showed there was one more land mark before arriving to the destination. It was not close just like all the other landmarks from each other. The sun was getting farther and farther down the sky. Although when it comes to desserts the sun was still bright as day but someone being used to how the sun works in a country like this they would be able to tell that it was getting late. This was still less then half the journey for the genin still had to get back. As the night creeps on which would bring in the cold it was something to worry about.

The next destination was passed a quicksand field, there was an alternative path on the map but it was another hour out of the way. It was more of a gamble to walk through an area full of quicksand or take the safer route but waste time. The destination was another field, it was small compared to the quicksand one but it would be noticeable from far away. The map said it would like a forest till you got up close and personal with it, then you would realize it is a cactus forest. The map said there was about one hundred of them, even though the info was not needed the men who had found the area where the books might be wrote down info like that for they thought it was fascinating.

Haruna looked down at the map, and then looked at the quicksand field in front of her. She stared for a looooooong moment, watching the sand. In her mind a scene started to play out she saw herself, riding Goliath happily through the quicksand field, and then Goliath stepped in some quicksand. The puppet started to sink, as Haruna tried desperatly to save him. The puppet clawed at the quicksand, but he was too heavy, and the sand banks were too loose for a solid group. Eventually Haruna jumped to the back of the quicksand pocket, and started trying to pull the puppet out by herself, but it was no use. She wasn't strong enough. Eventually, the massive puppet sank below the surface, waving one last good-bye. Haruna snapped back to reality still staring at the quicksand.

"Not for all the fruit in Suna."

The pink haired puppeteer quickly steered Goliath to the side, towards the alternative path and as far away from the quicksand as possible. It may take longer, but it would take a whole lot long if she were to sink in quicksand. Still, it meant that she had to go faster to make up the time. With a flick of her wrists, she had Goliath begin running as fast as his legs would carry him. It wasn't exactly super fast, but it was still faster than Haruna could go on her own. Plus, where she would get tired after running for a while, Goliath would never get tired. She made her way as fast as possible towards the alternate path, checking the sun every so often to keep track of time.

The other path was a rocky one, there was some ups and downs through this path. There was some extra problems with these rocks. There were some that were not so stable if you stepped on the wrong part it could crumble and that could be dangerous. There was also worry of getting to high up on these rocks in case you might get burned. It was a dessert after all there was a chance normally anyway but being closer to the sun and no shade anywhere on those tall rocks the sun beat hard. The rocks were now also hot since a good portion of the day had now heated them up, it would be hot to walk on them and touch them at all.

The time of day was nearing the late afternoons. It was not yet evening but it was getting fairly close. Being as it was spring time the sun went down about mid to late evening. Which gave the genin about three hours give or take before the sun went down. The journey so far had taken that long so getting back would mean she would be hitting the night fall now it was more where the nightfall would hit her. If she did it right she could make it by the time she got past the oasis from just traveling at least. There was still the troubles of the destination she had to worry about.

'So sleepy...'

Haruna's eyelids were heavy as she directed Goliath along the rocky path. She had still used a lot of chakra to make sure she got through that sandstorm, and the heat wasn't healping either. She was somewhat cooler n the shade of Goliath's massivehand which was held steadily over her head, and the fact that she was really no where close to the ground on her ten foot high perch meant she didn't really have to deal with the heat of the stones below. Still, she was tired.

She struggled to make sure that her focus was on her path. The rocks looked unsteady to stand on, especially considering how heavy she and Goliath were combined. She tried to make sure the giant puppet only stepped on the most stable parts of the path, mainly the ones towards the middle and as far away from the edges as she could get.

As she made her way along, her thoughts drifted to the time she had remaining until sunset. It would get extremely cold after the sun was down. She didn't really have anything in her backpack or the seals on Goliath's back to keep her warm. Her only real option was to use one of her hair jutsu to wrap around her and keep her warm on the journey back, but to do so she would need to regain some of her chakra supply.

She nodded mentally to herself. When she got to the cave, and picked up the books, she would have to rest. A quick nap would probably allow her to get enough of her chakra back for her jutsu to work, but that also meant she'd have less time before the sun set. Still, she had to think long range rather than temporary.

Although the rocks were making it harder for the travel, with the caution the girl took a few of the rocks cracked but in all sense she would be able to get through it. Some of the rocks she went on were fine when she went on them but the durability of them started to wear so she could not take the exact same path without some of those rocks breaking and having herself fall which was next to the quicksand which could be a very big problem.

The day was still going. It was defiantly getting near the evening now. The genin had got to her last destination where there was a tornado in the way. It was staying in one spot, while the X on the map was pointing right below it. It was the reason the men needed her help, there was a trap built by the man who had the books that would cause a tornado for anyone who would try and steal his books.

It was more powerful then the sand storm the genin had gone through but the power of the thing looked like it was not as strong as it once was. If you checked there on the ground that it used to be bigger but knowing how long it had been going waiting for the thing to disappear could take years and that would be a waste of time. For it being something that activated when people are near or was constant meant that there was a source of some kind. How to stop that one source that was going to be the tricky part if the genin could even find it.

[Mission] Claim the books

"Seriously?"

Haruna sat, her legs wrapped around Goliath's neck, simply looking at a giant tornado swirling in front of her. She looked down at her map, and then looked back up. Her destination was inside a tornado. A tornado. One of those big whirlwinds that ate houses and buildings and everything else in the world, tossed them around like rag dolls while it digested them, and then spat them back out into the open air to fall hundreds, maybe thousands of feet straight down to smash them into the ground. And now, she had to go inside of one.

The pink haired girl yawned as she stared at the tornado. Well, the mission said that she had to go in there. She didn't hand to, but she had to do it. Goliath raised his hand at Haruna's command before the pink haired girl unwrapped her legs from around his neck, and stepped lightly down into his open palm. If she went into that thing on Goliath's head, she would be blown of in a second. So, she decided to go for a different approach. Making a single hand sign, one of the seals on Goliath's back let out a poof of smoke, causing a very long and very strong chain to drop to the ground. Haruna leaned back against Goliath's chest and, channeling chakra into her back, stuck there. Golaith's hand moved away, leaving Haruna stuck to his chest. The puppet moved his hand away, and picked up the chain before he began to tie the chain around the two of them, binding them more tightly together. It was a bit akward with his giant hands, but he managed it after a couple of minutes. Haruna undid another hand seal causing a large padlock to fall to the ground, which Goliath picked up and handed to her. She snapped the lock in place, and then directed Goliath on towards the tornado, hunched down almost to the point of moving on all fours. She prayed that Goliath's weight would help them stay on the ground, but she wanted to test her theory before she got on by slowly, very slowly, progressing closer and closer to see how strong the winds actually were.

The tornado was not strong enough to pick up the heavy chain. Although it was strong enough to cut skin. Closer to the center made it so you could see the hole that the genin had to get into. The sands closer to the hole started to fall in, it had a cycle process where it fell in the hole while the tornado threw it back out again. So the tornado had two purposes to keep people away and also to open the hole to the once house of a great man. This is where the books were going to be and the genin had to get in there.

The hole was not completely huge. On the other side there was bear traps so someone not being careful could get hurt which would not be a good thing in the middle of the dessert. Sun was still going down so there was a lot of challenges still but getting to past them was the situation on hand.

Down the tunnel it had two paths, it was not a maze down there it was a home. There was common rooms down the holes. It was a lot like a hobbit hole. In one of the rooms was a library it was not a big library but it was big enough, it had about one hundred books in there so for a private library it was big. It was probably to many books for a genin to carry but a lot of them were just common books but there was a few of them were rare. It was finding out which ones that were the importance.

"Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow..."

Haruna slowly manipulated Golath through the powerful tornado. Luckily for her, the puppet was heavy enough that the wind wasn't blowing the two of them away, but unluckily for her, the wind was strong enough to cut her skin. she sheilded her eyes, and did her best to keep Goliath's appendages between her and the wind, but since the wind was everywhere, there really was no escaping it. Multiple cuts formed along her exposed skin, but she just had to suck it up. She couldn't risk Goliath standing up to sheild her with his arms, least the two of them be picked up by the wind.

As she made her way deeper and deeper into the tornado, she saw a hole in towards the center. Sand kept falling in and being blown out anew as she continued to progress towards it. She eventually got to the brink of the hole, which wasn't as big as she would have liked. It was currently big enough for her, easily, but she wasn't sure about Goliath. Still, there was absolutly no way that she was leaving her puppet outside. The pink haired girl began using Goliath's hands to dig out the hole more, widening it just enough for the massive puppet to squeeze in.

Goliath moved into the hole, hands first, burrowing into the sand like some sort of mole. Haruna heard a loud snap as Goliath's hands went down into the hole, followed by several more after, and she briefly wondered exactly what it was. Eventually Goliath's chest, which she was tied to, made it down into the hole, and Haruna noticed that there were several bear traps clapped around Goliath's fingers. She flicked her wrist causing Goliath to slam his massive hands on the ground which broke the bear traps off of the puppet. Afterwards, she thought that maybe it might have been a better idea to keep the trap for her own use, but then rejected the notion of using something that was already used by cowards to hurt defenseless animals.

Finally, Goliath's legs made it down through the hole, and into the area below. It didn't seem to be tall enough for Goliath to stand up to his full height in, so Haruna decided to leave him crouched down. The girl took a long moment to unlock and unchain herself from her puppet before dropping to the ground. She began to look around, and noticed that the secret treasure trove of knowledge she had been sent to actually looked very homey. She could definitly see someone wanting to live in a place like this. Well, except for the whole abandoning society to study on your own thing.

As she explored around she saw more of the homey feeling the place had. Aside from the bear traps at the entrance, she didn't really see any more traps but she still had to be careful. She eventually found the library, and was completely thrilled by it all. So many books. So many wonderful pieces of knowledge that she had unearthed. There were many many books, but that didn't bother her. She would simply seal them all into a seal of Goliath, and then travel back to the village with free hands.

She paused for a moment. Sealing didn't take too too much chakra, but right now her chakra reserves were very low, and it was almost nightfall. The desert was an extremely dangerous place to be at night, almost as much as during the day if not more so. With those facts combined, she decided that her only course of action would be to spend the night in the house. It was already fully furnished, which was nice, and she was sure that the people of the village would rather have her back alive and late than not at all.

With a brief nod of her head, she left the library, and went back to where she had left Goliath. She slowly began to drag the chain back towards the library, not forgetting the pad lock, and, after all that was done, she slowly, carefully back Goliath back towards the library as well. She set him up to block off the entire entrace to the library, sealing her in, and making sure no one could get to her while she was sleeping. She may have been in a super secret hideaway hidden in the middle of a massive desert guarded by a tornado, but she wasn't about to take any chances on a mission.

She took a long while to clean out her wounds and all the sand from Goliath before settling down on a nice library couch, and falling fast asleep, smiling at her accomplishment thus far.

Nothing much happened while Haruna slept there was no animals or people to bug her. The only problem coming from all this was that the tornado had sensors that effected the outside of place. Which meant the hole filled back up with sand. The girl had also fallen asleep around five pm meaning if she slept normal eight hours it would be one am which is defiantly still night time in the dessert. The sun would not be coming up till around four thirty am, so depending how long she slept how much time she had before the sun was up. It was below freezing before the sun came up. Haruna would not have to worry about air, even though the hole to the entrance was blocked there was air getting in.

[Mission] Claim the books

Post by Pokefan137 » Mon Mar 28, 2011 4:23 pm

It was so nice to get sleep in. Haruna slept coozily in her little borrowed whole, all happy and resting. Haruna slept most of the time she wasn't on missions as it was, normally a good ten hours if she could get it in, but she was tired, and she wasn't in any real rush to wake up, so instead of sleeping her regular ten, the pink haired girl slept an exceptional twelve hours straight, with no waking up, no tossing, no turning, and no real disterbance to her rest. When she awoke, she stretched for about fifteen minutes, limbering up her tiny body as was her custom when she awoke, and then smiled. Such a peaceful night it had been. She was now well rested, she was stretched out, her chakra supply was running back at max capacity, and all was right with the world. Her first action of the morning was to take care of the books. She began moving each and every book from the shelf, and setting it closer to Goliath's back. Once everything was moved, she made a series of handselas and placed her hand against her puppet's back. Almost as soon as she did so, the book disappeared in a poof of smoke, and a new seal appeared on hher massive puppet.

The pink haired girl smiled and dust off her hands before attaching chakra strings to her puppet. The giant rumbled to life, and began moving forward, down the familiar hallway of the night before. Haruna was just thinking how wonderful it was that her night had gone so smoothly when she exited the hallway back into the room where the beartraps used to be. The thing was, she could no longer see those beartraps because the entrance was blocked by sand! haruna stared at it for a moment, wondering what had happened. Still, it was no big deal. With some swift directions, her massive puppet began to dig them out of the hole, swiftly and surely. Haruna simply stood back, directing as her puppet did all the work. She started to wonder about breakfast, but then realized she could always get something later.

After about twenty minutes of digging to clear everything out, the puppet broke the surface. He began to crawl out, gripping the ground with Haruna following behind, clutching his ankle as he pulled her out. The puppet quickly grabbed Haruna in his mighty grip, and began to run forward as the tornado started to whip to life again. They managed to get a good distance before the tornado was at full power, but they still had to grip the ground and walk slowly for the last bit before they finally came out of the tornado. Haruna looked down at some new cuts she had from the wind, but was still grateful it hadn't been worse.

When they were a safe distance away from the tornado, Goliath lifted Haruna up onto his shoulder, and the two set off back towards the direction they had come. The sun was well into it's rise, and already the desert was begining to heat up. Haruna closed her eyes, leaning back somewhat to enjoy the feel of heat on her skin. As a creature of sleep, warmth was one of her best friends. She could bask in the sun on par with any lizard, snake, or other reptile around. After a long moment of sunbathing, she looked back to the direction she was going, happy to finally have the precious books in tow.

The pink haired girl and her puppet braved the desert once again, going back the way they had previously come. They walked over the large rock path, through the cactus forest, stopped to say hi to the spider friends who ignored Haruna for the most part this time, walked back over the massive hills, and finally arrived back at the village. The pink haired girl smiled as the village came back into site. She hadn't been gone for very long, but she still felt herself happy to be back home. She rode happily towards the gate, excited to see her fellow scholars, and her family once more.

[Mission] Claim the books

Post by sazhuy » Fri Apr 01, 2011 12:51 pm

The men were expecting Haruna the day before, they were almost thinking of doing another mission to go and get her. Then they got word that she arrived which made them happy and went to greet Haruna. They were glad she had the books but more glad she was still alive, to the world of history she was an incredible asset. They greeted her with happy faces and sent word to the kage, that Haruna had passed her mission. Now it was time to check the books and see what could become of them. They would invite Haruna to come check with them but they would do it in a few hours the girl should go home first.
