[Mission] Info Gathering: Geiin Fugu

Mission AssignmentShow

The two shinobi had finally gotten clearance to leave the Sunagakure no Sato in search for the young missing ninja, Geiin Fugu. They had exited, standing in the dry, harsh environment just outside of the village. First, they had to decide where exactly they would begin their search.

Kinkotsu would wake up before the sun even rose. This was because today was the day he’d receive his first real mission. It had been awhile since he last did a C rank mission and already having been briefed about most of the specific details, only made him more anxious. The time could not seem slower to him as he would constantly begin to plan scenarios of battle in his imagination.

His youth would be the cause of his excited reaction to such a mission. Most would either be thrilled for the kill or worried about their safety. Kinkotsu used it as a test of his skill. Unable to control himself he would head to the gate where the rendezvous was originally planned.

Taking his time to go through all his equipment while waiting would be the only option he had. He was well prepared and began to quench his thirst with some refreshing water. The time had come and he could not believe that he was early. Normally he is the one who runs late, but this time he proved that he is capable of doing things in a timely manner. Even if he was two hours early.

This will be Miyuki’s first team mission ever since her graduation team broke up. Well, not really much of a team, being only two people will be doing the mission, but hey, got to do what you got to do. Miyuki didn’t even know the guy she was going to work with on this mission. She was going to find out more information about Geiin Fugu, a C-Rank missing ninja. From all she knew, this kid is only reason of leaving the village is because he loved the water. So basically, we are going up against a ninja uses Suiton jutsu mostly, Miyuki thought. I hope we do this right the first time.

Like Kinkotsu, she wanted to get this mission done real quickly, so she was early as well. It didn’t take long for her to get ready. She had her bag packed for a month, ever since she was forced on leave. She got her stuff and quickly headed to the gates. Miyuki was told that her partner was going to be a Genin named Myaku Kinkotsu. From what she was told, his chakra affinity is Lightning, so he could prove himself useful. Once at the gate, she saw that the boy was already there. Nice, I’m starting to like this Genin already. She walked up to him.

“Are you Kinkotsu?” Miyuki asked. “If you are, let’s roll. I’m Hanabusa Miyuki.”

Finally getting a chance to meet his partner Kinkotsu would quickly reply, "Yes I am. Pleasure meeting you, not lwet's get down to business." He knew that this mission was a higher rank than he is normally use to so he needed his full attention set on it. This was for his own safety.

"I have heard some details about our target, but I haven't got any details on where to begin the search. Have you been briefed?"

Kinkotsu was very excited to be on this mission. It was time he put his hard work to the ultimate test. Facing a missing ninja was not taken lightly among shinobi, so very cautious measures would have to be taken. The sun was shining bright as he would check his belongings to make sure he was prepared.

He couldn't wait to see where the first location would be to begin their search. Truly the characteristics and motives of this target were unknown as well. He decided to finish his barrage of questions with one last one. "By the way, what are the motives of our target? I am asking to see if it's a lunatic or a rational ninja we're after."

“Frankly, I don’t know more than you do,” Miyuki replied. “All I know is that he was a Genin when he left and that he loved to do missions in the Water Country. I think he knows Suiton jutsu, because he loves the water so much.”

Miyuki wasn’t really pleased that she didn’t know much about the person she was hunting for. A mission is a mission, Miyuki thought. I can’t turn this down. I need to get as much experience as possible.

“So, is this your first information searching mission?” Miyuki asked. “Also, how long have you been a Genin?”

It would have been better to know the Genin before the mission, but Miyuki didn’t have that luxury. So, why not talk to him now?

Quite frankly, the two shinobi were wasting time. They were on a mission, not engaging in a social event. Their reputations (or lack thereof) were on the line. The longer they chatted, the more likely any information they could get was slipping away from them.

If the two had done their homework, they could at least start in places in which someone may know of the shinobi's past life and where he may currently be.

Time was passing by as the two were idly chit chatting. Kinkotsu would realize that they should get moving and began heading toward the outskirts of the village. He knew for information asking the guards of the village entrances would be the best for identifications. He knew they would be the best to ask if they have seen the suspect at hand.

"Lets go to each end of the village. Even though we need to be together on this we will cover alot more ground by splitting up. I will go to the north entrance and I suggest you going south. As I pass through town I will see if anyone has any information. On your way south, try to stop by the academy and ask some of the higher ranks if they seen anything on our target. We will rendezvous at this location in about two hours tops! "

The mission would prove to have begun. Kinkotsu would begin sprinting toward the main shopping district of the village, to pass through to the village entrance. He knew that he may run into some ninja that may have some valuable information on their target.

Kinkotsu found himself approaching many ongoing travelers and fellow shinobi. None seemed to have a clue about his target however. Realizing that time was passing quickly he swiftly ran to a couple more shops that had high social activity. Still unable to learn anything important he pursued the guards of the village entrance.

As he stepped toward a team of two who seemed to be switching shifts with another group he would wave toward them for their attention. "Hello I am Myaku, Kinkotsu. I am here to ask for information on Geiin, Fugu the target the Kazekage has presented me with."

He knew revealing his intentions were not the best solution but he needed info and quickly. The time he wasted with his partner could not be made up for and this was his only chance to try to make up for the lost time. "I apologize men but I am in a bit of a hurry. If you could please assist me then I will gladly put an end to this man who betrayed our village."

He used this to try to motivate the shinobi into giving him information. This Fugu was not going to be an easy find, he assumed and impatiently waited for a reply from the two shinobi guarding the village entrance.

The men looked at the boy with questioning expressions. They were on duty, a very important duty, and didn't feel the need to talk to a kid. However, they were compassionate, and figured they could get rid of the kid faster if they just answered his question.

"Fugu, eh? I've no idea."

"Wait, wait," the other said. "Wasn't he that weird kid? You know, the one that always wanted to swim? I thought it was pretty pointless, considering we live in a goddamn desert."

The other man didn't seem to know anything about the missing nin, but the second seemed to at least be familiar with him. "The boy always talked about how much he loved water. I'm pretty sure he was caught playing in the water supply once.

"He's not too far up on the ladder of important matters, but I guess Kazekage-sama finally decided he wants the kid dead. Weird though; we usually don't send genin on these kinds of missions." The man paused, looking over at his partner before addressing the young shinobi again.

"But, we obviously don't know much about him; otherwise, he'd be a corpse. One thing's for sure: that kid hated the desert."

Kinkotsu would look toward the guards who unknowingly helped and gave him the info he actually needed. Now knowing his target had a complete obsession with water he knew Fugu would not be hard to find. Sunagakure had very limited water supply areas, unfortunately there was about four areas Kinkotsu thought of already to check. Time was of the essence so he had to carry on with the mission.

"I appreciate all the help. Time for me to leave."

He would begin to along the mountain that created the border of the village. This would be the first location of the water supply. This wasn't the main one but he wanted to save that in case. He also knew that going to the closest one will save his energy for any confrontation. His plan was to face his target and eliminate him at all costs.

Kinkotsu was wearing a transmitter in his ear lobe and received some troubling news. His partner would be taken from the mission making this a solo assassination. It was time for Kin to prove his skill as a shinobi. This gave him determination and a burning passion to eliminate the enemy of his country.

Arriving at the first water supply Kinkotsu began looking for anyone that was around. Unable to see anyone in sight he began searching some of the rooms. One was a closet filled with tubes and hoses which appeared to be used by the workers at this plant. One thing was suspicious. Where were the guards? This question alarmed Kinkotsu and he would stealthily travel through this water supply station with great caution.

As the ninja got water, someone hurried up to him from the distance. "Hey, you! Ninja!" It was a civilian. "I have something to tell you! I know where the kid is. He went to the water country." And with that, the general location of the ninja had been gathered. Still, the water country was a huge place. They would have to get a more specific location.

Kinkotsu was happy to have finally stumbled upon some important information. He did not know how to handle this information however. Finding out his target resided all the way in water country was truly a disappointment.

He was only a genin and could not possibly continue this mission by himself to bring down Fugu. That is without finding out his exact location in the water country.

Kinkotsu thanked the civilian as he took off with an idea in mind. It was time to report his findings and see what the higher ups would recommend in defeating Geiin Fugu. The only logical place to do so would be at the Kazekage's office.

The trip would take a while, but as soon as he got there and was escorted to the mission dispatch office, he would be given the opportunity to report his findings. The kage was much too busy to be troubled with this matter, but it would be taken care of by one of his subordinates.

Kinkotsu would find himself having to go over every detail of his mission. So far he was able to inform the man about where his investigation first took place and what information he extracted from the civilian.

"I've been led to believe the target is somewhere in Water Country sir. Unfortunately that is all I have been able to extract from my search."

Hoping that maybe the man would have a clue as to where the target could possibly be hiding, Kinkotsu could only wait in suspense. He didn't know if this was helpful or just a bunch of useless information that was already known. Kinkotsu would look this man dead in his eyes awaiting his reply.

The man nodded, digging into a file drawer and pulling out two files, one titled with the name of the missing ninja, and one with the serial number for the mission. He took a pen and quickly jotted a few noted in each before putting them away.

"Alright, good, but the Water Country is a large place. I think it would be best if you tried to find some more solid information as to his whereabouts."

Kinkotsu could only smile as the man would begin to jot things in a file that he could not seem to see what the contents were. After he marked the folder the man would look up and reply to Kin that he needed more information. Realizing he was not asked to forget the mission and leave it to the higher ups would only bring an even bigger grin on his face.

"Well sir, is there any key locations that you can inform me so I don't waste anymore time?"

Still very anxious he would have to wait for an answer. He could not imagine where to begin. Not many people could have known this ninja, could they? It was only a matter of time before the story of Geiin Fugu would finally be revealed.

The man looked through the papers once more, looking for more information to give the ninja.

"Oh, I'm sorry, it says here that a local has a report on the ninja's whereabouts, and that he should be done with them by the fifteenth. . . which is today. The report should have the remaining information needed, so travel to this address and wick up the report, then come back here." He gave the kid a paper with the address and dismissed him to go get the report.

Kinkotsu was glad to see that his help was still a necessity to capturing this wanted shinobi. He was very curious about who he was supposed to search for. The paper would have his name and address. This is all Kinkotsu needed to fulfill his next task. He would begin to review the paper and see if any other type of information would be able to be extracted from the sheet.

After looking for quite some time making sure he didn't mistake any details from his brief, he would begin to do a light jog toward the local's residence. As the day began to fade Kinkotsu would begin to knock on a door that seemed pretty sturdy. The home was seemingly new and would look very original due to the fact people have typically the same structure of homes in the sand village.

He would await an answer and see what information he could extract from this aid.

A pale woman with a kind face opened the door and greeted the young ninja. "I suppose you're here for my report on the boy, eh? Well, I have it here in the living room. Would you like to come in? I just made cookies." Almost as if on cue, the ninja would smell the aroma of baking. How could he resist such an offer?

Kinkotsu would see a woman begin to open the door. Her face was quite pale and almost seemed lifeless. After hearing her out he would introduce himself. "Why yes I am Myaku, Kinkotsu. I hate to seem in a hurry but time is of the essence."

Almost immediately after his statement he would begin to sniff a very delectable odor coming from within her home. It was almost breathtaking the way Kinkotsu would react by quickly accepting her offer to come inside. He was absolutely starving and could not wait any longer to try these delicious smelling treats. He would walk inside hoping to get some snacks and get the information for the mission as quickly as possible.

The woman smiled warmly and left the door open for the boy to venture within. She showed him to her living room where he would have an option between sitting on a comfy looking chair or on an equally appealing couch, both of which were facing an empty table.

The woman came out of the kitchen moments later with a plate of cookies and a tall glass of milk, setting them in front of the ninja on a coaster for his enjoyment. She then walked over to a filing cabinet where she took out a yellow envelope with a simple seal on it. It was titled with the name of the missing ninja on it.

"I trust I will be receiving my payment shortly, then. How are the cookies?"

After receiving everything he wanted he would respond with some cookies still in his mouth. "These are absolutely delicious mam! As for your payment I believe the higher ups will be taking care of that. As for me my job is done here. I apologize but I really should get going now." He would wipe his hands with a napkin and begin to head toward the door.

Before attempting to exit he would pay respects to the woman. "Thank you for your contribution to helping the village mam. I appreciate the cookies as well, please take care of yourself." He would then try to head back to the kazekage's office to rendezvous back with the jonin who sent him on this task.

"Bubye! Take care!" The old woman said as the door closed behind the man. He would be able to return to the Kazekage's office, and would be given payment for his efforts before being released from the mission.
