"Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm..."

More maps. Today was a great day to practice her skills in interpreting maps. This one had a whole bunch of different markins on it. Having pretty much grown up in a library/ historical museum, she guessed that the orange dots might be books with relevent information. Having guessed that, she decided to start looking at all the places where an orange dot was located to see what was there.

When she headed to the first orange dot, she'd see that on it was an arrow with a triangle inside of it. in the middle of the plaque was a small handle; if Haruna grabbed hold of it, she would find that, with some force, she'd be able to turn the plaque whichever way she wanted.

The question was, what would she be pointing to?

Haruna had to say, she was impressed with the elaborate mechanical setup of this library. The first orange dot seemed to be some sort of turning mechanism with a handle inside. She didn't know what it was used for yet, but it was extremely cool none the less. She wondered if the library of Suna would have such mechanisms when its construction was finally completed.

Whether it did or not, however, was not the most pressing issue. Getting the genma information, however, was. She decided to try turning the handle. It seemed she could turn it in any direction that she chose. There was a triangle on the circle, therefore, deciding that this might be some kind of puzzle, she decided to try turning it towards where the triangle rested on the map and seeing what would happen.

Haruna's tiny delicate hand would turn the arrow towards the triangle, aaaaaaand...

Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada.

It would seem that the clue she was looking for would be somewhere else.

"Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, well that didn't work." thought the pink haired girl. "Let's try the front desk."

And with that, she turned the device towards the front desk to see what would happen then. Experimenting was fun!

That also didn't work. Obviously, those two bits weren't what Haruna was looking for.

She'd need to start thinking creatively if she wanted to solve this puzzle. Perhaps she could look around the library for a clue?

"Still nothing."

Haruna yawned standing up. Currently this little dot wasn't offering up anything helpful, therefore she decided to go look at the other markings on the map. She decided first to look at all the other orange dots to see if they were all indeed the same, and then she could check out the green marking, and finally the purple marking. Hopefully one of those would yeild something of interest.

The orange markings all had arrows on them, but with different shapes in the middle. The green marking was a flat brass seal in the middle of the library.

The purple seal Haruna wouldn't be able to get to at the moment. She'd find the location, but in its place was a large chair, which housed an elderly woman, placed behind a large desk. The kindly woman looked up at Haruna, little beady eyes gleaming. "Yes? How can I help you, young one?"

Haruna blinked. A librarian? The old woman from before had sent her in here telling her she had to somehow find the book containing information about genma, and all this time there had been a librarian? In the back of her mind she silently raged against the fact that finding a single book in a library was becoming more troublesome than the time she crossed a desert, on her own, walked across a crumbling cliff, and endured two sandstorms to get to the entire library collection of an ancient hermit. Having practically grown up in a center of library and archiving, she briefly wondered what possible purpose the library could have if they didn't even make the information easily accessable to patrons. Then again, this was supposed to be a very advanced collection, so it was more than likely the entire thing was set up as some kind of overly convoluted test. Seeing as how she was tended to be having difficulty with maps today, she decided to simply do what any normal person would do. Stop and ask directions. With a single blink, Haruna leaned up and pressed the map on the desk.

"I was wondering if you could help me understand this text. Also, do you know what all the shapes scattered around the library are? Also, may I ask where your card catalouge is, whether you use the dewey decimal or library of congress cataloguing system, and where the general divisions of your stacks, reference, juvinile, government documents, and periodicals sections are located in your system? I've been having a bit of trouble understanding my way around due to the extreme dissimilarities between most libraries I've been in and this one."

The librarian, old as she was, was a bit overwhelmed by the sudden flurry of questions. However, when she saw the map, her eyes brightened and she got up and slowly scooted her chair out of the way. Underneath her chair was a purple circular tile, identical in style to the green one in the center of the library. Then, walking over to one of the orange dots, she chuckled and looked up at the ceiling, not saying a word.

"Purple circle..." Haruna stared for a moment at the circle, then the lady, then the circle, then the lady. After repeating this process several times, she eventually walked over to stand beside the lady, and stared at the ceiling too. Why? Because she liked old people. Enough said.

At first, Haruna probably wouldn't see anything. After all, it wasn't like the old lady had exactly told her what to look for. All there were on the ceilings were shapes. One was a triangle, one was a circle, one was a square.

Huh... Now that one thinks about it, those shapes would look awfully familiar to Haruna. She had no doubt seen at least one of them before... in the very recent past, in fact. Where might she find this shape again?

Strangely enough Haruna started to have a hankering for SESAME tofu. She knew a nice STREET vendor that sold some really nice plates of the stuff. She'd have to go there after all the fun with shapes she was having.

"A circle, a triangle, and a square." Haruna said to herself. "There was a circle under the nice lady, and a triangle in the middle of the library. Now did any of those orange dots have a square in it?"

Curious, Haruna went to check the orange dots just to be sure.

Surprise! Haruna figured it out. Each of the shapes in the arrows had a corresponding shape on the ceiling. No doubt, the secret behind the puzzle was to point each arrow to the corresponding shape on the ceiling.

Now all that was left was to match everything up.

Finally! She was starting to get this! It didn't take long for Haruna to find the shapes she was looking for. With all the precision she could muster, the pink haired girl began to allign the shapes on the floor to the same orientation as those on the ceiling. It was sort of like matching up constalations on a chart with the actual stars in the sky. She didn't know what would happen when everything was done, but every step in the right direction was helpful to getting this mission complete.

The woman had since gone back and moved her chair back over the purple dot, sitting back down. The shapes, having lined up, began to glow. The seal in the middle of the library also began to shine with an eerie glow.

What would Haruna do now?

"It's...like a constalation..."

Haruna stared up at the ceiling, looking at the glowing points above. They were so pretty. As she stared, she tried to make up shapes to go along with the dots, while at the same time waiting to see if anything more were to happen.

After staring for a while, Haruna approached the green seal. It was also glowy, and therefore attracted her attention.

The circle on the floor was glowing a bright green, but on the top of the jade seal were black copies of the shapes from the arrows. The light flowed to them, but it was as if the light was fading away just before reaching the shapes. Regardless of what Haruna might try in regards to physically opening the seal, it wouldn't work. It seems there was one final piece to the puzzle she had to figure out.

Puzzles upon puzzles in the library that wanted even more of a challenge than the Dewey Decimal system. Haruna approached the seal, eyeing the shapes atop it, and automatically knowing that some sort of puzzle was being laid before her...again. She looked down at the shapes, and decided she better get started trying to figure it out so she could get the book containing info on the genma that was about to attack Suna. After all, if she didn't hurry, then something really weird could happen, like a time paradox where she ended up doing a mission that in the flow of time was in the past and in the present the genma had already attacked, been defeated, and somehow Hito, who had read the book she was currently trying to get right before battling said genma, had been declared Kage. But what were the odds of that, right?

In her examination of the puzzle, she decided to do what any shinobi in her position would do. She started poking the seal to see if anything moved or happened.

Nope, nothing. The seal was unmoving as it always had been. Perhaps another tactic was needed, something involving the many circular devices on the floor with the shapes?

Haruna nodded. Yep, it wouldn't budge. So instead she payed attention to the pattern on top of it. If past experience said anything, then the diagram on top of the seal was probably a map, and she would probably have to arrange all the little tiles and circles and shapes into the same pattern displayed on the diagram. So, with that in mind, she did her best to memorize parts of the diagram and went off to try and line up the shapes and circles into a perfect duplicate of what the seal showed.

Not quite. However, as Haruna turned one of the arrow tiles, it locked into place. Perhaps something had changed on the green seal.

Haruna would have to check it, now wouldn't she?

In the midst of all her experimentation, a click resounded from one of the tiles she had turned, and, upon further inspection, she found she could turn it no further. Curious, she made her way back to the green seal to check upon it for any change.

The walking around might be starting to get a bit tedious, but Haruna would see that it was worth it. The triangle that was on the top of the green seal had begun to shine! If she looked back, she'd realize that the arrow itself was pointing towards the seal.

So if that worked, what about the other tiles?

Okay. Now we were getting somewhere. With a smile on her face Haruna quickly ran to adjust all the other arrows to point towards the central seal.

Each arrow, as it turned to lock into position, stopped shining, the light emitted from them fading. Also, during this process, the light from the central seal began to glow brighter and brighter, soon shining enough to reach even the farthest parts of the library.

Finally, the arrows were locked in, and the central seal glowed with a blinding greenish light.

Haruna smiled as she finished the last arrow, and turned to make her way back to the seal. However the light from the seal was more than a bit dazzling. She wished she had brought sunglasses, but since she didn't, instead she elected to fetch Sheba whose gauzing cloth body could help to shield her eyes from burning while at the same time allowing her to at least partially see. After fetching and attaching strings to her puppet, Haruna made her way towards the dias to see what all that work had actually done.

The seal, with all of it dazzling lights, just seemed to be sitting there... glowing. It made no movements or sounds, nor did it change in color.

All of the other seals went inert and sunk back into the floor. Whatever Haruna had to do next involved the seal itself.

Haruna stared at the glowing seal that did nothing. She was getting upset with this seal of nothingness. It was driving her bonkers! So, she decided to do what anyone would do with something that did nothing. Poke at it rapidly to see if something happened.

When Haruna started furiously poking at it, she wouldn't feel anything at first. As the minutes wore on, however, she'd notice that she was feeling a tiny bit... fatigued, almost as if a sliver of her chakra had been sapped. Perhaps there was still a secret to it?

"How weird." said Haruna as she noticed that the seal apparently ate chakra like a Professor Gibbens from the hospitol in Suna ate potatoes at an all you can eat buffet. Maybe chakra had something to do with the secret of the seal. Well, secret number five hundred and seventy-three that is. This entire thing had started to feel like a game, with every series of seemingly unrealated actions leading to the next level. Deciding to go for the high score, Harune did what any puppeteer would do in this situation. She stuck some chakra strings on the pedestal to see what would happen. Briefly she wondered if she got bonus points for originality.
