Areno, Ki; Training and Lonelies

Post by Gabriel » Sun Oct 02, 2011 11:38 am

Ki began to read the book, simple as that, his eyes gazing across the pages as he tore the information from the bindings, a metaphorical reaping of knowledge if you will.
The Basics of Puppet Making:
The making of a puppet can be long and arduous, it can also be swift and enjoyable should the one who practices such a thing have the necessary skill and commitment to fulfill their wishes in the creation of their puppet.

So, no doubt you, the reader, are eager to learn what it is you must do to create your puppet, well, the first thing you must do is determine what kind of Puppet you wish to create. Do you wish to create an offensive or defensive puppet? Maybe you wish to create one for scouting? Maybe even assassinations? Well, all of these can be created with simple thought and imagination.

Once you have decided what kind of Puppet you wish to create, you must then choose your materials that shall be used, will it be slightly armoured with great arms for maximizing power for defense? Maybe made of pure steel so as to increase the power of your defense? Light and made of bamboo for scouting? Or a variety of materials for a variety of purposes?

All of the things you wish for your puppet to do must be taken into consideration when you choose your materials.

Once you have decided the materials and type of puppet that you wish to create, you must then gather the appropriate tools, do you need heavy hardworking tools for your offensive puppet? Maybe you need to use a forge and hammer to create a defensive puppet? Or even slight and small tools for delicately creating your basic scouting puppet? Find and acquire these tools for the tools must be the proper tools for creating your puppet or you may find yourself replacing expensive materials should you use the wrong tools for the job.

Once you have done all this you must take it to the workplace you should have provided yourself with --
It was at that point that Ki stopped reading, going back to his previous reading and going over it. After a quick twice over he frowned and wondered why the person who had written the book had not mentioned a workspace previously. Of course such a thing was redundant but it should be in there anyway in Ki's opinion.

Oh well.

He thought, returning to his reading as he did, noting the fact that, though the book did not have the things spelled out clear as day, the book still had great knowledge for him to acquire and so he began reading from where he left off.
The Basics of Puppet Making:
Once you have done all this you must take it to the workplace you should have provided yourself with previous to gathering the materials and here you will begin arranging things.

It is necessary to have a neat and tidy workspace as losing a key component to your puppet during an important step can be disastrous. Make sure that all your tools are organized in a specific way, the recommendation being by type and then by size. After your tools are organized, do the same with your materials and maybe even make a point of organizing these by the puppet which you will be making, should you choose to make multiple puppets in short order.

Now that your workspace is organized make note that sometimes you will need large amounts of good light to carve or attach delicate pieces so be ready to have a table set outside if your previously found workspace is not equipped for such things.
Ki contemplated now, should he continue reading, or start setting up a workspace? Not that it really mattered right now, he was just gathering the knowledge before he actually went about deciding what he'd make next. So, he supposed, he might as well just continue reading.
The Basics of Puppet Making:
So, with your workspace you'll need to set out your materials. It tends to be easiest to start with the torso first, so that is what we'll outline. With your materials for the torso you'll begin by shaping it, and depending on the material you'll need the proper tools, as mentioned before. So, shape your torso, be gentle with the material though, if you're too rough the material won't be smooth and you won't be able to attach the other pieces with ease. Start by shaping the basic outline in your material, then once you're done shaping the outline, shape the material it's self into the actual body of the torso. Once that is done you'll need to decide, is your puppet going to be hollow, or is it going to be thick? A hollow puppet tends to be less defensive and more for speed, as well as allowing for weapons and objects to be stored within it. If you choose a hollow puppet, continue reading, for a thick puppet, skip to the section on limbs.
Of course Ki stopped here, he thought about it, then decided he'd read it all, best to know how to make both hollow and thick style puppets, no?
The Basics of Puppet Making:
So, now that you've decided to make a hollow puppet, you need to work the material appropriately. First, and foremost, you start by cutting your torso in half. This allows you to hollow out the puppet, and then you can re-attach the pieces later. This, however, is a basic way of doing things, and so it leaves a weak spot where it may be easier to break the puppet. But, since you do this vertically from the side, the odds of such a breakage from such a spot is less. Regardless, if you wish to decrease such a chance, please read the book on advanced puppetry making techniques, as it will cover how to hollow out various materials without cutting them in half.

Now, since you have hollowed out your puppet, you will need to bind the two halves back together. If you are using metal, then you will wish to use bolts, if wood, possibly nails or a much lighter bolt than you would use in metal. Regardless, bind it so that both halves match up, and now you have the torso for your Puppet.
Ki smiled, he had all the books about puppetry making, at least in this series, so he'd learn how to do those later. But, now that he looked at the time, he realized he should probably be heading to bed, so, putting the book down he stripped down for sleep, crawled under the covers, and dreamed about making a puppet.

Ki, Areno Ki, the desert hope as his parents named him. This boy now had a dream, a dream to become the greatest Shinobi of all time, but not because of any one skill. No, he would become the greatest Shinobi through the usage of all skills, and that would be the testament to his power, the knowledge of all.

But where to begin? Well, he would choose to begin in a single area, Iijutsu, an area that held great promise for the greatest of users would be able to transplant eyes, organs and even DNA, into others and even into one's self. By doing the latter one could acquire the power of clans, the power of Kekkei Genkai, and such power would open up numerous other techniques. This, would be good.

But first, he would need to learn the basics, he would start with the basics of the Organ Transplant style, and after having learned that he would learn a few more of other Iijutsu before continuing on with more advanced techniques.

So to begin, first he would need to read about the technique that he was to learn. Sitting down at a table within the academy, for he still frequented it during his hours of studying, he began to read a scroll, a fairly small scroll and one of many that detailed singular techniques.
Delicate Hands:
Delicate Hands is a low level Iijutsu, however it is not just Iijutsu in the fact that it requires physical skill and so has been labeled Tai-Iijutsu, or Taiijutsu. This simple technique requires a time of learning, but after having learned the skills necessary the user is capable of handling things with great care and precision, minimizing the risk of bruising or causing tissue damage during surgery, allowing the user to handle very fragile things without worry of damaging, this technique is more of a passive style of holding and handling things rather than a jutsu with specific results, but users of this find themselves quite capable of handling even the most delicate of surgeries.
Ki began to contemplate these words he read, wondering why it was a technique and rather not simply being well trained, maybe it was being simply well trained but was labeled a technique because someone wanted to contribute something? He didn't know

Ki opened the scroll that contained the information on a Ninjutsu he wished to learn. It was called Chakra burst, and the instructions were as follows.
Scroll of Chakra Burst:
Chakra Burst, it is a technique that allows the user to cause more damage to a target struck with their fist than they would normally be able to do. The impact of such a blow enhanced with this technique, is great, and rivals that of an explosive tag, with the obvious exception that it doesn't create burning damage or an explosion. All that is required of the user, is to simply channel chakra into their fist, and then strike. Upon striking, the user simply has to release the chakra, allowing it to strike out and hit their target at the same time they themselves hit it. This not only causes greater damage, but also protects one's fist in the event they are striking something harder than themselves.
Ki read this, and then he read it once more. It was incredibly simple, and all he'd need to do was practice. He already knew he could do it, though he was merely an average Shinobi, he just needed to work it in reality. So, setting the scroll down he raised his fist before his eyes, looked past it at a wooden pillar, and nodded before closing his eyes. Closing his eyes always helped him concentrate, it wasn't effective in combat, but of course this wasn't combat, merely the first time he had performed the technique. Drawing deep into himself, he felt that ball of energy at his core, a ball of energy that allowed people such as he to do things beyond what a normal human being was capable of. Grasping that ball of energy, he imagined a fist around it, squeezing and forcing a trickle of the liquid power out, much like one would get if they squeezed an orange. This trickle slowly flowed out of the ball, and then he started to push it up through the channels, slowly at first, but then a sudden rush, up from his core, into his arm and out to his fist. Unfortunately he forgot to stop it there, and had let it rush too fast, so the chakra was lost, launched in a weak arc as he attempted to, and failed, to steal it back. Not a perfect attempt, but he'd manage it with practice.

Which he did do, it simply took him a few tries. The first time had failed because he let the chakra get too far, the second time was better, but he didn't push it out far enough, and when he struck the pillar the chakra reached his fist just as he was pulling away with a bruised set of knuckles. Of course, he wasn't going to give up like that, so he tried several times more, getting the chakra to burst out, but not enough to cause more damage to the pillar, but rather only to cushion the blow of his fist. Which was alright, if he had any amount of Physical strength and could've broken the pillar without the extra help, but he didn't, and he couldn't, so he was forced to try again and again. A total of seven tries it took before he finally got it, his strike coming perfect against the strong wood of the pillar, and the chakra burst coming as he needed, creating a large indent a little larger than his fist. It had worked, and now he just needed to try it once more on the wood before moving on to a different target. Of course, now that Ki had done it once, he was able to do it again without issue, creating a second dent before packing up the scroll and heading off elsewhere to train.

His elsewhere was at the academy, where he had been taught and honed to become the beginnings of what he was. Here students were taught, and here he'd find someone to help him. Not a student, of course, they were mostly not ready to fight, and he wasn't sure that it'd be appropriate for a Genin to fight, and possibly hurt, a mere academy student. No, he was here for a teacher, and he found one. All it really took was a quick discussion with one who was on his break, and he accepted. So, his teacher, a Chunnin by the name of Erotaki, Geron, went over the theory with him once more just to be sure he understood. Bring the chakra from his core, put it into his fist, strike his target, and release the chakra upon impact. Quick, simple, and easy. So, he did that. Ki pulled the chakra from his core, made it flow up his arm into his fist, and then took a few practice strikes, aiming at a boulder in the training yard for now. A single strike was enough to chip off a sizeable chunk, and with a few more strikes he was able to break a chunk the size of his head off.

Praising him, Geron told him he was to attempt to strike him now, he knew how to defend himself he assured Ki, and so he wouldn't be hurt. Ki, believing Geron, took him up on the offer. Once more, he drew forth the chakra from his core, once more he pushed the chakra up his arm and into his fist, and once more he struck out, this time aiming for Gerons chest. Geron, in answer to this, used the same technique, striking at Ki's fist, though making sure it was a buffer rather than an explosion of chakra, and permitted Ki's strike to happen. It was quick, it was effortless, and it was effective. Ki tried a few more times, each time Geron striking Ki's fist and preventing any damage, and soon both Ki and Geron decided he was done and had learned the technique properly. Ki could, of course, learn to use it more effectively and advance on it, but for now he had the basics and could allocate it to a list of techniques he had now learned.

*Chakra Burst
D-Ranked Nintaijutsu
A technique utilizing raw chakra, the Chakra Burst technique creates additional concussive force when striking. After channeling chakra into his/her fist, the user will attempt to make contact with the opponent. In the event that the strike is successful, the impact, beyond just being a normal punch, gains ½ the strength of an exploding tag.
