†[Clone Detection]
B-Rank Ninjutsu
A fairly general skill of a sensor, this ninjutsu enables its user to look into the chakra signatures around them to identify whether or not that specific target is a clone. This will detect any clone that the user comes across whether it be illusionary, elementally formed, and even the fearful Shadow Clone.

“Again!”

“But sister! We’ve been out here for hours?! Don’t you think you’ve had enough?”

“Did ya not hear me? I said AGAIN dammit!”

It had been a very long day. Sweat, tears, and blood had been shed across the Sunagakure training area among both Soten siblings. They had started first thing in the morning, and now, as the sun tried to conceal itself behind the gigantic desert walls, they still continued with the same intensity, even if their bodies argued against it. Ami had asked her brother nicely to rob him of his day. And by nice, she meant that she wouldn’t place a poisonous centipede in his pillow that night just to see the humorous reaction that would entail. She needed assistance in her training. This was just something she could not do alone, even if that meant putting up with the older’s constant whining of being too hot and thirsty. Which, let’s face it, made up majority of their day spent together.

The task was simple. He was to create multiple Suna Bunshin while she, blindfolded, had to toss shuriken at the clones aided only through her mental sight, and, of course, leave the man unharmed. Sadly, that wasn’t always the case. As her focus faltered with the case of mental fatigue, her perception went off, forcing the occasional throwing star to slice into his flesh. One even managed to practically scalp him. Hey, he shouldn’t be complaining. He needed a damn hair cut, raggedy ass bastard. Though the principal of what she wished to accomplish was a general sensor skill, it appeared to be one that she unfortunately lacked at this. And by golly, by the end of the day, it would be one she could do at a moment’s notice, guided solely through natural instinct. Hopefully without the cost of dismembering her brother of an ear or an eye. A finger? Well that was okay. He had nine other ones.

The routine pretty much went as following. Daichi would create three other sand clones and then run around Ami. When in a randomized position, she would activate her Mind’s Eye and gather three shuriken into her hand. By pinpointing the inhuman energy flow, she would then toss the weapons in hopes of pegging each one in the chest. Though there was the occasional time that she missed and accidentally struck his real being, his thick flak jacket protected him from harm. Most of the time at least. Sometimes the wind would suddenly pick up, slicing the blade across an arm or leg or she just decided to pick the wrong target. Either way, it was all training no matter how you looked at it. He was taking a battering, but even Daichi knew of what importance this training was to her. He was a kind older brother, even if she didn’t always return the same emotions back.

The more she did this task, the easier it was to grasp at identifying the false doppelgänger of her brother. But that didn’t mean she was a master at it. There was a need of concentration that was required. Training the mind to see what couldn’t be seen was not an easy task, and one that took many skilled shinobi years of practice in order to accomplish. It didn’t help that the presence of chakra of her training partner to fade as he grew more and more fatigued of his strength. That was well expected out of a few hours of training. But it was a good thing. It forced her to push her limits even further. It was developing to a now or never moment. As her weapons flew, forcing the three clones to converge back into lumps of sand, the girl stared at her brother through her blindfold, panting tiredly.

“Okay...one last one. But this time I want ya to make as many clones as ya can and I have to hunt the real one out. Think ya could do that?”

Releasing a very large, aspirated sigh, Daichi nodded and muttered his “Okay.” Ingesting a soldier pill just to boost his stamina for this scenario, the ninja formed the required hand seals and soon brought forth multiple sand clones. Through her mental perception, twenty-four other “Daichi’s” appeared out of no-where, clogging her mentality with a flash of blue lights. This was going to be a challenge, but it was time. A now or never moment. If Ami couldn’t do this simple task of plunking the true from the false, she’d never be able to properly claim herself as a perception-type shinobi. She would be a failure. At least in her eyes. Perhaps even that of her late father.

“Don’t worry dad...I’m not going to let ya down.”

With that smile promise, the girl was off, darting through the masses of running clones. Their energies were so similar that her mind had trouble comprehending. She knew there would be only one that was different than the others with a full flow rather than the partial one. There was just so many, however, moving about like they were full of immense vigor. She just needed to find that one different, the perpetual Waldo of this task. Forming a hand seal, her mind would envelop outwards, passing through every clone and imitation. And there he was, as clear as day. There!

With the simple use of her Sand Shuriken technique, sand drifted up into the shape of a four-pointed star and she tossed the blade forward. It almost seemed like it was moving through slow motion as clones opened their mouth in all, all their eyes following the weapon as it pegged the original right in the forehead and knocking him “dramatically” to the ground. However, without merging the right amount of chakra into it, the weapon broke apart into harmless sand the moment contact was made. Looked like she needed a soldier pill herself. As Ami pulled the cloth off of her eyes, she chuckled as she watched all those clones clap before returning to the state nature intended them to be.

“Thank ya for training with me, I really couldn’t have done this without ya bro,” spoke the girl as she walked over him, extending a hand pull his form upright.

He merely giggled, rubbing the at the red splotch the sand had left behind. “Just remember, you owe me dinner for the next three weeks after that massive work out. You promised! Don’t you dare try to get out of it now.”

With a light punch to the male’s arm, she embraced him in a light hug as they walked out of the small arena and made their way home. “I’ll get right on that…But first, let’s get some rest. We’re both exhausted.” Nodding in unison, the two made it to their house, bathed the sand off their bodies, before retiring to their own separate beds. They needed to recover while they could. After all, who knew what event tomorrow might bring?

†[Sand Creation]
D-Rank Ninjutsu
Perquisite: Requires user to be upon Solid Ground
After forming the required hand seals, the user will focus her chakra down to her feet and outwards across the ground she is touching beneath her. By focusing her chakra over the duration of an entire post upon an inch-worth of earth around her, Ami will cause the ground five meters around her to crumble into small sand granules. She may then utilize this to perform various sand-related ninjutsu.

It was a fairly average day in the Kaze no Kuni desert. The sun was high in the sky and Ami had found herself wandering towards the cliff-faces that separated her country from that of the Earth. Why was she making such a long journey? Well...it was the only place she knew where she could find earth. As in solid earth. Ground. Not the stupid sand that made up the desert in which she lived. The girl wanted to train. She needed to expand her skills to the creation of sand. Though not the most experienced sand-user, it acted as her only offensive platform. Genjutsu and Sensory techniques were handy, but they could not claim a victim's life. Could her sand? Theoretically speaking.

Finding a nice flat surface to train on, the girl set her equipment bag to the side before moving to the center of the grounds. Her object was simple. She needed to learn how to create her “element.” Sand was merely earth that had been eroded away by wind and sometimes water, but it was merely thin peaces of earth. That was how she was able to control it in the first place: through her doton chakra. This should be a peace of cake? After all...how difficult could the creation of sand really be? Heh. One way to find out!

Kneeling to the ground, Ami would form the seals she though would be best for the requirements she planned for and extended her hands to the earth below. Allowing her chakra to radiate outwards, she focused on the superficial layering. Going too deep would create a sink hole. She didn’t want that. No matter how useful it could be. She needed grains! Small and fine...And such objects would find her way.

As she stared down at her fingers, the girl’s eyes widened. The ground vibrated lightly before growing more and more fluid like. At first she thought she had discovered a completely different chakra element, but such thoughts shifted away as her palms sunk into an inch-worth of moving ground. It was sand. It was not wet...it was not dirt. It was SAND! She did it! But she couldn’t celebrate her accomplishment yet. She now needed to expand this feeling all the way around her. With a few more seals and another burst of chakra, the same shaking was felt before millimeter after millimeter began to convert. As her control extended outwards, the girl let out a satisfy sigh. The ground around her had converted into a five meter circle of sand. A test of the new product resulted in the same results. She could use it for her techniques. She could create sentinels to relay sensory information. Success!
