[Mission]The Greed-Eyed Monster

Mission InfoShow
Original Request
Mission Rank: D

Hidden Village/Country Assigning Mission: Wind Country

Post Time Limit: 96 hours

Detail: A tourist town in our country has had a problem with losing money in a local casino. It seems a few people have found a way to break the systems and are costing the country a small fortune. The Hidden Sand may not condone gambling, but we won't abide cheating, either. Don't kill the perpetrators, but scare them out and make sure they know that returning would be bad for their health. And try not to make a big mess, will you?

Additional Objectives: Make them leave without causing a big scene and costing us even more revenue. (1)

Pass: The cheaters are forced out of the casino and convinced to stay out.

Failure:
  • Excessive damage to casino property
  • Any individual dies
  • You fail to make the cheaters leave.
The casino was bigger than Kanjo probably would have thought it could be. Three stories high, and with the sounds if winfalls and jackpots echoing even from outside the building. When he entered, the music would come as an addictive assault, as all before him there unfolded a scene of gamblers lining row after row of slot machines, feeding their paychecks into automated financial tragedy dispensers. On the sides of the buildings it was quieter, and people sat in groups of three to seven people playing different card or ice games. The first floor alone was huge and labyrinthine, and he had no indication of what the suspect's looked like. Security guards eyed him warily with distaste self-evident in their gaze as he looked about, though they smiled at other patrons as they entered. Someone here had found a way to defeat the greed-eyed monster, and it was Kanjo's job to stop them.

Good luck.
NOTE: I won't be here on weekends. My being gone then doesn't mean I've abandoned you or the site.

After receiving the mission, Kanjo knew he would have to act out of character than what he is normally like. It was probably annoying to act all kind and he was told to leave a message to not only these cheaters, but to future cheaters.

On the way there, Kanjo noticed the sand around the area. He knew that all the sand could be more than great for the given situation.

Once he was about to go in, he looked up at the massive casino. He wondered why it was so big and what was so special about it. The second he walked he, he instantly got glared at. He said with a rather professional smile towards the bouncer as he walked in.

"Hello!"

Kanjo simply walked around the whole casino and noticed its great beauty and size. He was rather star struck by its atmosphere. No wonder why it is forbidden for ninja to gamble. He thought it looked rather fun. With the few coins he had, he simply sat next to a few gentlemen at the slot machines. Kanjo placed a few coins in the slot and the pulled down the lever. It made a lot of noises and he lost multiple times until he only had one coin left (out of the 5). He simply turned to one of the gentlemen that was playing.

"Bottoms up, Hahaha, to good wealth!"

After the phrase he kissed the coin and placed it in the slot. Unfortunately for him, it was a loss as well and Kanjo looked disappointed. Hopefully he attracted little attention and maybe could hear some rumors around the building.

In the four times he'd spun the slots, it would become fairly apparent that this was a game of luck. Unless someone could remove the element of luck from the slot machines, there would be no cheating in this area. That wasn't impossible, but he wouldn't get anywhere with only four coins dropped in a slot. His peppy spirit certainly seemed to bring out the joviality of the man beside him, who nodded and gave a slurring "here here!" before downing his own drink. For the most part, people seemed to be focused on their own games, so outside of the security staff, any attention he attracted was minimal.

There did come, however, the sound of applause from behind him. It sounded like someone at the card tables had just been dealt something good.

Intrigued by the loud applaus, Kanjo decided to check it out. Slowly Kanjo moved his forehead protector down to cover one of his eyes. As he walked over he took a quick stop in the bathroom. As he walked in he simply used the urinal while someone in the stall was puking. Since no one could see him, he performed a quick hand sign. After it was complete, he had created an eye. He gripped the eye and put it in his pocket. He then walked back to where the attention was. He noticed a lot of people hovered around one table. Kanjo walked up the stairs looking down on them. From a small ledge, he could see everyone at the table. Shorty after arriving, Kanjo threw the eye high up right above the table. It was near the ceiling, but it was high enough to see what was exactly going on. Kanjo smiled as he took a seat and simply focused on the eye.

He knew he couldn't go to the table. Even if cheating was taken place, they surely would stop if a sand shinobi showed up. So Kanjo knew it was better to just step back and be hidden within the shadows.

"I wonder.... What could be so amusing."
JutsuShow
*[The Third Eye]
E-Ranked Ninjutsu
This rather simple technique belongs to the most effective and safest spying techniques. By performing the necessary handseal, the user is able to turn a little heap of sand into an object that resembles a human eyeball. The ‘eye’ will be created next to the user [within a 5 meter radius] but it can be left alone after its creation. While being able to float in midair and turn around its own axes, the third eye isn’t able to move. While being active, this third eye will feed visual information back to the user, who has to concentrate on the connection. The user is only able to control one Third Eye at a time, due to the fact that the brain wouldn’t be able to comprehend the mass of visual information and therefore overload immediately. Creating a new, second Third Eye would immediately destroy the first. Even though the user is linked to the eye’s field of vision, they don’t take any harm if the eye is destroyed, which doesn’t take more than a simple hit.

Because he had to go to the bathroom, he missed what had made everybody cheer. As he returned, though, and the eye began its watch, He'd be able to see the hands of each player as the dealer dealt to each of them. It looked like they were playing Blackjack. He could stay and watch for a few deals, and the first few would seem fairly normal. If Kanjo understood how Blackjack was played, however--or if he learned while watching--he would see that one of the people kept making choices that turned out to be correct, but didn't seem to make sense at the time of making them. He didn't win every hand, but he won enough that his pile oh chips kept growing. He was dressed all in white, with a black bowtie that was a necktie at once, with a thick white mustache. Blue eyes and fair skin and a large cowboy hat with gold trim on the back of the brim. Every now and then, he seemed to glance around him suspiciously.

This guy was almost definitely cheating.

Kanjo smiled when he saw the man begin to make a hefty profit. Kanjo decided to catch him in the act. Leaving the eye there, Kanjo walked down the stairs and talked to the lady at the chip desk. He was able to take out a loan of 500 dollars worth of chips. After reciving the chips, Kanjo slowly walked to the table where the man was making a great living. Kanjo put on a smile and sat a few seats away from the man who was dressed in all white. Kanjo called the amount which was a standard 10 dollars. He looked at the man in white and everyone around the area. Kanjo sees that he got a pretty good hand dealt to him, maybe he could win this one. Looking at the man with the cowboy hat, he simply looked at him and made small chit chat.

"With a hat like that... I think I picked the wrong profession. Hahaha."

(For the record, it's iportant to note that as the RP mod, I control the bits of the world you interact with. That means obvious things, like talking for the NPCs, but also some o the details, like whether or not you'd be able to take out a loan or how substantial the minimum bets are. It seems nitpicky, but it's really important that RP Mods have that kind of control so that they can make sure the missions they take stay appropriately challenging and follow the story that they had planned. You're not in trouble or anything, but in the future you should know that taking control of the world like that without an RP Mod's permission is dangerous and can result in penalties like reduced rewards or failed missions, or some RP Mods might decide to increase the difficulty of the mission each time a player tries to bunny out of a tight spot.)

The man with the enormous hat smiled at Kanjo, folding this hand and giving up his minimum bet and letting Kanjo take the winnings for this one. It wouldn't be much, but it'd take from his loan if he could keep it.

"And just what line of business is that, son?" he was grinning as he watched the cards get dealt, looking at his hand and somehow keeping a perfect poker face and a big grin at the same time.

Oh, my bad mate. Now I know though thanks. One quick question then, Is it okay if the eye is in an odd spot within the light and can't really be seen when sitting at the table?
Getting a new hand dealt to Kanjo, he receives a Jack of Clubs and an Ace of Hearts. Hopefully if Kanjo is lucky he can win this round. Kanjo has decided to increase the offer so that the man couldn't refuse. Maybe he would make something obvious and give himself away. Kanjo simply waited and ordered a drink as the set of cards were revealed.

"I'm not sure, but if it can buy you cloths like that it's better than mine."

After Kanjo spoke, he looked at the dealer slowly and tried to keep a poker face. Kanjo wasn't known for having the best poker face. Kanjo kept looking at his cards so he couldn't give anything away. While he was looking at his cards, the eye above was looking for any suspicious behavior.

(Yeah, we can work that in. Generally, the words "Tried" and "Attempted" and variations of it will be your friends in missions. You can say you looked for a spot to put it that fit those conditions and if you couldn't find one, you would put it in the next best place. I don't mind saying you have that now.)

Once again, the man folded, though he had the ten of diamonds and nine of spades. That was a fantastic deal, but he knew better than to take it against someone with a high hand like that. He had straight black jack. others followed his lead and he took the blinds again.

"And just what line of work do you call your own, son?" It's the question he was asking before. He was asking where the boy worked. "I don't know I've ever seen you 'round these parts before."

After the man folded Kanjo ended up winning the hand. After they got re-dealt, Kanjo got a 2 of hearts and a 3 of spades. Unless Kanjo got lucky, he knew he would lose this hand. However, Kanjo tested the ability of the man and called for the time being. After he threw money, he looked at the man in white.

"I'm rather new, took an interest in black jack and casinos only recently. I heard about this great establishment and couldn't help myself but to spend a couple days here."

Kanjo tried to make it look like he innocently missed the question about what his profession was. Even though Kanjo purposely avoided it. Kanjo then focused on his eye which he tried to place it on the side of the light. With it being placed on the side, Kanjo tried to hide it from plain sight from anyone who sat at the table.

The man seemed to back of the career aspect, and all conversation in general, really. It was clear that he wouldn't get any where poking about his job. When Kanjo chose to call with his hand, the man seemed clearly surprised, and raised the bet much higher--the equivalent of a hundred dollars. Time to see what he was willing to risk.

By this point, it would be abundantly clear that the man was cheating. It was just a question of what to do about it.

Kanjo smiled as the man called as well. It was more than obvious he was cheating and the fact that he had changed his facial expression slightly when Kanjo called made it more obvious. Kanjo slumped back slowly in his chair and simply called with him and actually raised the bet.

"I have a wager for you Mr. Man in White. I came here in an elegant white horse. His name is Moonshine. I wager this horse only if you wager something of equal value."

Kanjo knew that the man would win. The only thing Kanjo had to do was to get the man outside. Once outside Kanjo figured he could have some fun with the cheater.

"So what do you say?"

The man definitely perked up at the thought of that. He liked the sound of a beautiful horse. He was raising the bet again, though, and the cards weren't in his favor. The man was put on edge and he knew something was wrong. Was the guy really just that bad a gambler?

"Well, I suppose I can do that, m'boy! How does, say... eight hundred sound?"

(You can play through him winning the hand if you like, and I'll let you bring him on outside. For the record, the RP Mod is the one who should get to say what cards you get and who wins the hands in stuff like this--it's one of those luck things that the RP Mod should get to decide to keep the world challenging. I didn't mind so you're fine, and the amount of control you can actually take without causing problems will vary a little bit depending on the mod, but you'll want to be careful about that sort of thing.)

(ooc: Aight man, my bad. I am still getting used to this xD. You are being real cool about it and I kind of get what you mean.)

Kanjo simply looked at the man and smiled in an innocent way. He was excited about the possiblity of eight hundred. Unfortunetely, Kanjo had to remember why he had come in the first place.

"Eight Hundred seems fair enough, lets do this my horse for your money."

Kanjo took out a piece of paper and wrote the horses name and that it was part of the bet. After he wrote on the paper, Kanjo threw it in the middle of the pile of chips. Kanjo hoped that the cards were not in his favor.

"Good luck my friend"

The cars got dealt and the man won just as he expected to. "Well, alright!" He looked at the dealer, and then once again around himself nervously. People were applauding his big victory, as the crowd was still around the table to watch the man on his winning streak, and at the last second, the man looked concerned. It seemed either the deck was going cold, or he was getting nervous about security. "I think I've won enough for one day. I'll just go cash out and then you can show me to this new horse of mine."

The man would get up and, assuming Kanjo followed him to help pay the debt as he owed it, would eventually lead the man outside. "Well, alright boy, now, where's this horse you owe me?"

Kanjo simply followed along the man in white. After they both cashed in their chips, Kanjo looked after the man in white said "I think I've won enough for one day. I'll just go cash out and then you can show me to this new horse of mine."

Kanjo showed a bit of fake depression. He was good at making it seem real. Kanjo looked at the man with a somewhat sad face.

"Of course my man it is around the building after the front door."

Kanjo lead the way to the door and walked out with the man in white simply following behind him. As Kanjo turned the corner of the building there was a split couple of seconds where the man in white couldn't see his hands or the front of his body. So Kanjo made a quick couple of hand seals and continued to walk forward. Kanjo hoped within that time frame his hand seals were not seen.

They were not seen. the man would follow Kanjo so long as it was within a reasonable distance of the casino and it looked like he was being led to the stable which kept the horse on which he traveled. What Kanjo did from this point was up to him.

(See, with posts like this--and you haven't done anything wrong, I'm just letting you know--the RP mod is relinquishing a bit of control to you. I'm saying that this man is going to follow you wherever so you can get him isolated, or find a place where nobody will interrupt you, or even get a good first strike in. As always, exactly how much control you can take will vary a bit based on the RP mod, and it will take a little while to get a feel for what is appropriate, but you can go ahead and accelerate the mission by getting to where you'd like to be, so long as it's not entirely unreasonable.)

When the hand signs were complete and they walked to the side of the building which Soza thought no one would interfere, a great deal of chakra was released and as the man had walked down he felt a tingle near his feet. Once Soza stopped, the man would have stopped at the same time. Sand had fled up the man in white's body and started to grip his body. Before the man could have realized it, he was trapped within a coffin of sand. It hardened to the point where the man couldn't move. Instead of it completely being covered over his whole body, Soza left his mouth and eyes to see.

Soza turned around and looked at the man.

"You see, we are all part of this land, the Land of Wind. We as the people of the land server a purpose to protect it and take care of it. Because we are not the wealthiest of lands, we have to look after each other as a family. Now when there is people stealing and lying to the family, they serve a threat. Are you a family member or a thief?"

Soza asked the man with he hands placed behind his back after the coffin was complete.

(You're doing really well, but just so you know, when you use a jutsu in a mission, it's a good idea to add it to the bottom of your post in a spoiler, like this:
jutsuShow
*[Desert Coffin]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After forming the needed handseals, the user will cause a small wave of sand to rise from the ground at their feet and roll towards the intended target with a speed equal to the user's control up a total of 8 yards away. If the target doesn't avoid this jutsu they will be ensnared by sand that starts to wrap around their legs, restraining them in place. The sand will then rise up to fully encase the target. This technique will hold the target in place for three posts, but they can break out of the sand if they have a strength of 6 or higher.

(Also, remember that you can't just decide you caught someone. This guy's a civilian with no chance of escaping, so yeah, he's caught pretty much. But if this were a higher-ranked mission I could have made him a ninja and given him a way of avoiding it. That's what I mean when I say the words "Tried" and "attempted" are your friends. You're doing really well, though, and you've just about finished the mission. Between two to four more of your posts will have it over, if this keeps up.)

The man squealed aloud when the sand had him risen in the air. "You're a ninja!' He writhed in Kanjo's grips and tried to break out, but when Kanjo started speaking the an understood. "Family, I'm family!" He seemed eager to align himself with Kanjo's sentiment. It seemed he valued his life. That made this easy.

Now, Kanjo just had to go in and find the others who were cheating. It was possible that the man would be able to help with that, and make the whole process faster. But that would require trusting the man. Was Kanjo willing to accept him as "family"?

Kanjo heard his pleads and simply began weaving another hand sign. He however stopped one hand sign before and stared at the man in the eyes.

"You have one chance to prove it to me, if you haven't noticed you are within a Dessert Coffin. All I have to do is complete the hand sign and you will not die, but I will crush your arms and legs so you will rot out here in the desert for days. If you don't want to get buried alive then you can prove you are worth more than the dirt itself and help me find the rest of these cheaters and liars who are hurting the Land of the Wind. Are you willing to cooperate?"

Kanjo has kept his hands together and was more than ready to finish the hand sign. He simply waited for the man in white to either do something stupid or possibly redeem himself.

The man was whimpering and he wasn't able to speak his answer, but he nodded his head. Hopefully that would be enough. If Kanjo chose to release him at that point, he would be able to follow the man in white back to the casino, up the stairs, and to a set of roulette tables. There, an incredibly large man was dropping large stacks of chips onto single squares, and puling back stacks that were larger still. The man was enormous, six and a half feet tall and every inch broad and rippling muscle. His skin was tan and his voice was gruff, but he had a mustache that made him look more silly than scary. With him were a pair of girls, slim and sexy, hanging--literally hanging--off his arms.

"That's the man, boy. I don't know how he did it, but the man found a way to beat the roulette wheel! Those two girls with him are the only other ones from our group, but if you get rid of him the rest will leave too!" He said it in a shouted whisper, loud enough to be heard over the noise of the casino but soft enough that the behemoth wouldn't detect the noise.

Kanjo grinned after he was told the information. Before he headed to the bathroom for a brief second, he talked to the man.

"Go wait outside where we last chatted"

He put an emphasis on "chatted".

After his little talk with the man he saw as trash, he took a very good luck at him. Then he went into the bathroom briefly. He went into the bathroom and performed a series of hand seals. After clapping his hands together and a cloud dissipated after its short appearance. Kanjo was in a sharp white suit and looked exactly like the man that he shortly had engulfed in sand.

With his new appearance and identical facial structure as the man in white, Kanjo went out to the roulette wheel where the rest of the "gang" was. In the same voice and a little sly attitude, Kanjo walked up and began talking to the man.

"Hmmm I need to talk to you my friend. We have.. a little bit of an issue."

Kanjo directed his hands towards the door hoping that this rather large man will take the bate.

After completing the needed handseals, the user of this technique will be able to alter their physical appearance to match that of another person. By consistently emitting chakra throughout their body, the user is able to keep their appearance adjusted at the cost of their stamina draining over time. As this technique is quite strenuous to uphold, experienced shinobi may see more clearly through this delusive disguise. This technique lasts for a number of posts equal to that of the user's stamina.

The large man looked at Kanjo suspiciously. He realized something was wrong with his partner's behavior, but it was his partner, after all. Something must have gone wrong, and he was either about to be sold out or he was being warned that it was time to leave. Either way, following his partner would be beneficial.

He gathered up his tokens and stood to follow Kanjo.

The other man, meanwhile, had done exactly what Kanjo had said. . . until he got out of the casino. Then he retreated like a mad man, fetching his own horse and riding off. He wouldn't help Kanjo any more, it seemed--but he had probably been scared enough not to cheat any more.

Kanjo knew he had him once he brought him outside. Like he did with the man in white he brought him around the corner of the building to the left side of it. As he was turning a corner for a second Kanjo tried to do a quick hand sign while Kanjo crossed the corner. As he walked far enough, kanjo simply turned around and looked at the giant man.

As he crossed the corner to the left side following Kanjo, sand began to rise up to his body. While the sand was rising, Kanjo's body poofed back to what is was originally.

The large man took a step back, surprised at Kanjo's revealing an prepared to fight, but hoping he didn't have to. "What did you do to mogu?" He said it with a clear, even voice. He wasn't in a fighting stance, but he definitely seemed ready to fight if he had to.

Kanjo put a grin on as the man stuttered for what seemed like a little bit. During the mans outburst and pausing, the sand quickly moved up and gripped his body. He was bound by the sand and unless he was strong enough, he couldn't move. Kanjo looked at him right in the eyes. He knew what he had to say to the big man.

Kanjo began giving the same spiel as he did with the man in white.

After feeling like a broken record, Kanjo looked at the man with his arms crossed and simply waited for his answer.

The man tried to jerk free, but it was pointless. After He seemed completely nonplussed about the whole event; his expression had hardly changed at all. It was as if he expected a shinobi, and expected this from him. But, he did know when he was beaten.

"Family." It was all he said. He was defeated and would not do this any more--Kanjo had passed his mission.
