Welcome to Wind Country

Geography

Wind Country is the largest of the Five Great Nations, followed by Rock Country a distance away. However, even while being the biggest country, it has the lowest habitable land, due to the massive amount of land that is covered by the three deserts; the Seihen, the Zenken, and, the largest, the Zentoyuubou. The three deserts are often regarded as impassable terrain, even though a major village is located inside every one. The Seihen Desert hosts Sunanada, the capital city, which houses the Daimyo and mostly civilians. The Zenken hosts the biggest trading town, Daiura. Lastly, the Zentoyuubou contains Sunagakure no Sato, the ninja village.

For the most part, the deserts are only separated by a bit of habitable terrain that is interrupted by a small mountain region that trisects the country.

People and Culture

The people of Wind Country fall into two different types; those in a great village or those who live in an Oasis-village. The three great villages have ninja constantly working on them, making sure that they are able to deal with the lack of water and resources available to them. Those that live in the many oasis-villages that dot the deserts tend to be rather small and nomadic (at least once a generation) as a singular oasis dries out, forcing them to uproot and find a new one.

As expected, the leader of Wind Country is the Daimyo, Konishi Asatsuyu. She is the sole leader, in charge of the workings of the country as a whole. She normally works with the Kazekage closely, as she knows that without the ninja village, the desert would be a haven for missing-ninja looking for an easy place to hide. Due to her not wanting her country to be blighted with rejects from other nations, she pushes a political agenda for slaying and capturing missing ninja of all types, even going further than most Kages would go for their capture. Because of this, hunter ninja are given extra bonuses whenever they capture missing ninja.

Oasis-villages tend to govern themselves, as long as they follow a few basic rules given out by the Daimyo. They are not able to house any outsiders, no matter how nice they seem to be, and, if they need help, send a messenger out to one of the Great Three Villages.

Cities

While most of the oaisis-villages have no names, nor any set location, due to their nature, the Great Three are always set in stone and are beacons of life in the harsh climate of the region.

Sunanada is the smallest of the Great Three and the second most protected village in the country. While the main pulls of the village is the housing of the Daimyo, it is also the location of the Pulling, a major event in Wind Country's history. Because of such, it houses many historical events, it is also the country's city of museums.

Daiura is the biggest of the Great Three and also the most open to outsiders. While crime is also the biggest threat here, it is mostly contained and dealt with in a quick manner. Being located in the Ariake Bay, the city is a harbor town, being located on the edge of the Zenken Desert. Boats are always open here, as ships from all over the world come into the docks to trade materials with those all around Wind Country.

Sunagakure no Sato is the ninja village of Wind Country, being home to the four academies that teach young citizens ninjutsu to protect the country from threats. More about Sunagakure no Sato can be found here.
