Dry humid weather, hardly any moisture in the air as the sun stood high in the sky hot beams of light shining across all of the wind country. This didn’t help with the mood in the market.

“I want it.”

“No I want it.”

“It’s mine back the hell off!”

Men and women fighting and pushing one another as a woman stood in the middle of a large crowd of people.

“Please understand only one of you can have it.”

“We understand that!”

“Yes, I do and it will be mine!”

The poor woman really did need some help. The market itself was filled with busy shoppers making it hard to distinguish who was part of the fishers and who wasn't.

Hanako smiled to herself as she finished her preparations and headed out. She was being sent out on another mission and this time Yanagi was coming with her. Apparently there was quite a bit of rowdiness over in the market district and they were being sent to investigate and solve the problem. The request seemed safe enough but there was a chance that a fight could break out so she had made sure to grab her seed satchel and fans so that she could defend herself if necessary.

She stopped for a moment at the entrance of the clan compound to wait for Yanagi as they should head towards their destination together. The moment he arrived though without a word they would be off.

Yanagi hastily raced from one corner of his room to the other, grabbing all his supplies. While he most likely wouldn't even need all his assorted first aid gear this was his first mission with Hanako-sensei, he had to be the perfect student for such a skilled shinobi after all! Mica sat lazily on his bed, watching him. Yanagi was always worked up about something or other and by now she had learned to just enjoy the show while it lasts. It really was quite entertaining too as he shoved whatever he could think to bring into his satchel, half the time deciding that he didn't really need it for the mission after all. This was the case with at least four items, one of which was placed and removed several times.

Glancing at the time Yanagi realized he was about to be late and in a quick frantic motion he swung his satchel over his shoulder and bolted out the door, Mica trotting lightly behind him. The fox didn't even mind that Yanagi had forgotten to lift her up; he was making far too big a deal out of this and Mica knew he was going to crash because of it. This prediction turned out to be quite literal actually. As Yanagi wheeled around the wall to the entrance he saw Hanako standing there directly in his line of fire. He tried to force himself to a complete stop, grabbing onto the side of the entrance to secure himself. This didn't work however as his fingers slipped from their position and he ended up falling face first onto the ground by his Sensei's feet. Lifting himself up Yanagi spat dirt out of his mouth and glanced up at the chuunin, "I... Uh... Good morning sensei...." Trotting up behind him Mica walked up onto his back before taking her place upon his head, inadvertently pushing his face back into the dirt. The fox looked up at Hanako with big eyes, her tail slowly swaying side to side.

Hanako had to hold back from laughing out loud at Yanagi's accident but even with how hard she was trying she couldn't stop herself from letting out a light giggle. He certainly hadn't kept her waiting long and the day was already off to an entertaining start. Perhaps this wasn't going to be such a bad experience. "Why good morning Yanagi. Napping in the dirt are we?" She said with a small grin and a light chuckle. Normally she wasn't really one to joke around but she was in a really good mood and couldn't help herself.

Her attention quickly shifted to the baby fox situated on the genin's head. Mica was staring at her with big eyes and it was just so adorable and she felt an incredible urge to just squeeze her. Taking a deep breath to calm herself she knelt down and stared the fox in the eyes. "Good morning Mica." She took a moment to scratch her ears and then stood up, brushing the dust off her skirt. "Now Yanagi if you're done napping we really must be going before the issue escalates beyond our control."

Once the boy was up they were off towards the market district and upon arrival she would be absolutely appalled at what she saw. People were fighting and pushing and there seemed to be a general lack of civility. She sighed as she laid the side of her head on her palm. "Oh my what barbarians. Surely they were taught better than that, oh well no matter."

She took a deep breath and took a few steps towards the crowd with her hands on her hips and a glare in her eyes. What happened next would probably come as a surprise to Yanagi, as suddenly her tone and way of speaking suddenly became much more demanding and forceful. "What in the world is going on with you people? Would someone mind explaining this atrocity to me?"

Mica tilted her head in curiosity as the kunoichi brought herself down to eye level, then nuzzling her head against Hanako's hand as she scratched behind her ears. Mica was beginning to like this woman more and more, punctuated by the fact that while Yanagi got told by her to work harder and improve himself Mica was only ever called adorable and given love and praise. Who wouldn't do just that however? Mica knew she was cute, and she milked it for everything she could possibly get out of it.

"Mmfphm mphemn..." Yanagi greeted, his face still firmly planted in the ground. His mumbling was unintelligible from his current position and only served to push more dirt back into his mouth. The poor child squirmed under the fox, raising his body and then his head with the fox still atop it. Opening his mouth a clump of dirt fell out immediately followed by Yanagi repeatedly trying to spit out whatever dirt remained. "You can be a real jerk Mica," he glared upwards at the fox as he spoke. Yanagi began to pick himself up and the fox scurried from the back of his head onto the top where she plopped down and made herself comfortable. After dusting himself off Yanagi turned his attention to his teacher. "Umm... Yes Sensei... I'm sorry..." Yanagi felt like a fool after making such a scene, but there wasn't much he could do other than apologize and keep moving. They had a job to attend to after all.

Following closely behind Hanako they soon arrived at the market district where there was quite a spectacle taking place before them. Various people pushing and fighting each other over whom would receive the storefront. Mica perked her head up upon her roost, easily able to see over the entire crowd due to Yanagi's height. It was was fascinating to the creature. Because of the various food smells drifting in and out of the area she could only deduce that this fight was over some kind of meal, though what meal could possibly have this many people fighting over it? Surely it would be easier just to move on and find something else to eat. The small fox's eyes darted from person to person, intently watching as event unfolded.

As Hanako spoke to the boy Yanagi merely nodded his head slowly as the color began leaving his face. While Hanako was clearly disgusted by the lack of manners these people had Yanagi was more concerned about how they would avoid being trampled by these people if they didn't agree with whatever his sensei had to say. He was already horrible when it came to crowds and this particular scene was perhaps something out of his worst nightmares. Well, almost. At least Mari was nowhere to be seen. As his teacher began moving towards the crowd Yanagi frantically shuffled after her, "Wait, Sensei, what if th-" He was cut off mid sentence as an entirely new person stood before him. Gone was the gentle kind sensei he knew; standing in her place was a firm and forceful leader among men. Yanagi was baffled for a moment as he readjusted himself; even Mica stood up on the boy's head and directed her stare a Hanako. Neither of them were expecting that.

“SHUT UP!” they barked at Hanako as she was pushed and shoved by the crowd, her voice lost in the rowdy crowd. The woman incharge, took Hanako by the arm and pulled her from the crowd into the fish stall. Which of course smelled distinctly of fish, it was almost horrible.

“They are getting to much, you don’t realise how valuable these stalls are specially for one suitable for fish, we don’t have any rivers around here as you know so fish is very expensive.” She began to sob, resting her head upon Hanako’s shoulder “Help me.”

Hanako's eye twitched as they practically barked at her and continued pushing and shoving, beginning to take her along with them. Soon enough though she was saved by the woman in charge and pulled towards the fish stall which of course smelled of fish. She didn't really mind the smell but it was a bit overwhelming.

She let out a quiet sigh and rubbed her temples, nodding as she listened to the woman who soon began sobbing. "Don't worry. My apprentice and I will fix this somehow." She just wasn't quite sure how but she was sure that she could figure something out. Helping the woman to stand up straight she began to walk back into the crowd. "Just stay here so you don't get hurt. I'll figure something out. I promise."

With that she began pushing her way back through the crowd and eventually met up with Yanagi on the other side. Turning to face her apprentice it was clear that she was frowning. "Alright Yanagi so the deal is we need to protect the stalls and calm this crowd down. Do you have any ideas? I don't think just yelling at this crowd is going to work."

The amazed and surprised expressions that had overtaken Yanagi and Mica's faces quickly deteriorated as the crowd all but completely ignored the chuunin. These people were clearly without respect. For them to try and push around and order such a talented kunoichi as Hanako-sensei they must have been ignorant as well. Well, that or Yanagi extremely overvalued his teachers worth. Probably the latter as he had a rather exaggerated opinion on the chuunin's skill level. Before Yanagi was given any time to dwell on the thoughts a woman grabbed Hanako and began pulling her towards the fish stall. A panicked expression overtook the boy as he rushed to try and reach his teacher. He attempted to push his way through the crowd but each time he was simply forced back out. Looking above the crowd Yanagi was able to see his teacher nearing the stall and attempted to catch her attention. "H-Hanako-sensei!" His calls were lost in the ruckus of the crowd and in moments his teacher was out of sight, disappearing to the interior of the stall. Yanagi resigned himself to being left behind and sat down on a bench across the street while he waited for her to return.

Soon enough his sensei did return, Yanagi rising quickly to his feet and rushing over to her as she returned. He opened his mouth to ask her what happened but was quickly cut off as she explained the situation and asked for his input. It was at that moment that a slight smile began the creep across Yanagi's face. He was no good when it came to talking to people or calming them down, however when it came to more logical or mechanical situations such as, for example, figuring out how to block people from rushing a store, well that was an area where he wasn't such an idiot.

As the gears in his head began to turn Yanagi took a few steps away from his teacher and looked out over the crowd, trying to gleam any way he might have a solution for the current situation. Taking note of the size of the stall an idea popped into Yanagi's head. Making his way back over to Hanako he began rummaging through his satchel. "Sensei, how about we use," Yanagi pulled his arm out of the satchel then with three elephant ear seeds between his fingers, holding them up front of him, "these to make a barricade in front of the stall?" Yanagi smiled brightly from ear to ear, very clearly proud of his idea. He was lucky that Hanako was from his clan since he had forgotten to mention what kind of seeds they were; the elephant ear plant was so common in their clan that most Naegi would easily recognize it. He still needed to work on those speech skills though.

Hanako nodded as Yanagi pulled the elephant ear seeds out of his satchel. He had a good plan, once the seeds were fully grown they would be large and durable enough to provide a fairly stable barricade. "That's a great plan Yanagi. Those plants should be able to hold out long enough for us to at least get a grasp of the situation." The only question was how they were going to do it.. then she remembered about Mica.

"Yanagi give the seeds to Mica and have her drop the seeds off on the other side by the stalls. Then once that's done you should activate them and I can start talking the crowd down." She had a slight smile on her face, they had a plan now and she was fairly certain it would work. This was a large crowd though and they were terribly rowdy so it would be a lot of work to calm them down and sort out the situation.

As Hanako added onto his plan the genin's head slowly nodded. Due to his ineptitude when it came to dealing with people he hadn't even thought about how he was going to get the seeds to their destination. He really should have thought the situation through more before announcing his plan. Anyone besides his brilliant teacher might have ridiculed him for such an obviously flawed course of action. Luckily he was graced by the presence of a kind and clever sensei; truly he was blessed.

Yanagi held the seeds above his head for the fox to grab as he gave her instuctions, "Alright Mica, just take these seeds and drop them by the stall over there," he pointed over the crowd with his other arm as he finished. Mica twitched her ears a bit and tilted her head, as if unsure of what the boy wanted. In reality she was just trying to get something out of helping Yanagi; Mica doesn't work for free. Yanagi sighed, he'd been through this plenty times before. "Do it and... we'll go see Mari and get some mochi, he groaned in defeat, and just a bit of terror.

It worked however as the fox quickly perked up and grabbed the seeds with her mouth. With one seed stuffed in each cheek and the third between her teeth Mica almost looked like some kind of chipmunk fox hybrid; Yanagi thought to himself that Hanako would probably squeal at the cuteness if she noticed. Without another word Mica hopped off of Yanagi's head and onto the heads of people within the crowd, jumping from one to the other before they could throw her off. Finally she scrambled onto the rooftop of the stall and dropped the seeds onto the ground below as she sat and began to groom herself. She wasn't going through all that work again just to get back.

Once Mica had dropped the seeds Yanagi quickly began forming handseals to activate them, "Get ready Hanako-sensei..." As he finished the seals the plants would quickly sprout and form into full grown plants, their massive leaves hopefully blocking off the stall. Now it was just a matter of how the crowd would react... Or rather, how Hanako would calm them once they realized the two shinobi were to blame for barricading their prize.

After being activated, this seed turns into a full grown elephant ear plant. This plant grows rather quickly and, because of such, has been used as a staple of defensive jutsu for the Naegi. Once formed, the chakra reinforced leaves are able to defend against many different non-katon attacks, depending on their strength. Unlike most plants, the leaves can be removed (up to two) to be used as make-shift shields before wilting away.

Amount of Seeds: 1 C, 3 D or 5 E
After doing the needed hand seals, the user will focus on the Suiton chakra into a single seed or a group of seeds that are within 50 meters of their body. The seed/s then erupt in a nonviolent burst of growth, turning into full formed plant/s, based on the listed Maturation of the plant.

The large leaves began to cover the area and grew in size, this didn’t however dampen the angriness of the crowd it made things worse, much worse. They began yanking and pulling out the leaves in annoyance “Oi this shop is going to be a fish mongers not a florist!” one man screamed, the crowed got rowdier and rowdier they had being pushed closer together due to the leaves and began pushing one another. It got aggressive, they began fighting throwing fists at one another.

“Oh stop them please stop them!” yelled the woman, the shoppers in the market seemed to be leaving because of the commotion, these seemed to worry the woman even more.

As was expected once the leaves had fully grown the crowd grew angrier but at least the stall was safe for the moment. A small grin formed on Hanako's face as she realized everything was going according to plan. Time to step things up. She looked towards Yanagi out of the corner of her eye. "Now this next part might end up getting us involved in the fight but while you have permission to defend yourself try not to hurt anybody too badly."

With that she turned her attention to the crowd and shouted out again. "Oi you brutes! If you want your prize that badly then come and get us. We're the ones that blocked it off after all." She had a crazy plan but a regular chat wasn't going to work with this crowd, at least not without exhausting them a bit first.

As the voices calling out in anger swelled to a roar Mica watched intently from her perch above the stall. It was amusing to the fox that something as simple as a few of Yanagi's plants would make them so violent, of course she wasn't in any danger up there. These people may have been angered by the shinobi's attempts to control them but surely they weren't stupid enough to destroy the one thing they were here for. Mica was glad to separated from by the crowd, she now had the perfect excuse to lay down and get some rest while Hanako and Yanagi dealt everything. She stretched her body out and plopped down on the roof, her gaze entertained by the commotion below.

Yanagi wasn't so lucky however. Sure, he realized that some of the people in the crowd wouldn't appreciate being barred off from the stall, but he hadn't actually expected them to start fighting. Quickly he grew pale as a drop of sweat ran down his brow. Any sense of pride he had for his plan quickly dissipated as he realized these people would probably come after him. He was no good in a fight; all he was good for was helping with very little experience in hurting people. Glancing over at Hanako he saw that she was... smiling? Gulping hard Yanagi thought to himself, Of course, she knew this would happen... I hope you know what you're doing sensei... As soon as he finished the though he knew he shouldn't doubt his teacher. she could do anything after all!

The color had begun to return to his face when Hanako spoke to him, and quickly it drained again. Not only was she expecting this, but she knew it was more than likely that they would be caught up in the fight. When she urged him not to hurt anybody, he meekly murmured to himself, "But Sensei, what if they hurt me..." Reaching into his satchel Yanagi and grabbed a seed. The more he thought about it the more he realized this was really his only offensive technique, and it wasn't very likely that it even could hurt anyone on it's own. As Hanako invited the crowd toward them Yanagi gripped the seed tighter in his hand. I believe in you Sensei.... please don't let me die today...

The crowd turned towards Hanako as she addressed them, they all seemed to break out in laughter all at once as they were called brutes “Why would we come attack you, that wouldn’t help our chances!” he yelled loudly over the crowd, they began to press forward through the leaves trying to get to the stand all yelling that they wanted to rent it.
