[Graded][Red Alert] From Beneath the Sand - Ōkubi

Post by Zao » Sat Mar 24, 2018 4:30 am

At the edge's of the great desert east of the Sand village, a piercing howl suddenly began to fill the open desert now which seemed to originate from a sole obelisk tower that stood alone near the border of Wind country. Around this eroded stone tower the sand suddenly began to churn in a clockwise manner before the sand seemed to drop nearly ten meters in a thirty meter radius of the tower before a giant sand worm with an armored head broke through the sand revealing its thirty five meter long body. Soon two other sand worms that were a smaller size emerged from the sands around the tower as well, the three spirit worms had been released from their prison and were finally free to wonder the deserts once again. The larger of the three let out a howl like sound that reverberated across the desert from several miles before it came down head first burrowing into the sand headed west towards the direction of the Sand village now. It's two smaller companions did the same following in trace.

Li had been patrolling the deserts of Wind country, following up on reports of spiritual activity in the area. He was lying within the cage inside of Spike, using his Puppet Senses technique to see his surroundings, when the wurms had first emerged. They were massive, and could have easily swallowed Spike whole. Li had begun forming hand seals as he laid there, and then begun throwing his maroon shuriken through Spike, and into the sands. He was hoping hit at least one of the wurms.

*[Puppetry Style • Initiate Puppetry Technique]
C-Rank Ninjutsu
The Puppetry Technique is a Ninjutsu technique used by puppeteers. By releasing chakra from their tenketsu, the puppeteer is able to release chakra strings from their finger. These strings are able to move a max of X times 2 meters away, where X is equal to the puppeteer’s control stat. This jutsu allows the puppeteer to attach their chakra strings to inanimate, chakra-less objects at a speed of 10. While an inanimate object is being controlled, it’s treated as if it has a speed equal to the average of the puppeteer’s taijutsu and control.

*[Puppetry Style • Puppet Senses]
C-Rank Ninjutsu
Required: *[Puppetry Style • Initiate Puppetry Technique]
By connecting a chakra string from a part of a puppet or person, the puppeteer is able to transfer their senses from their body to whichever part the strings are connected to on the puppet or human. This allows the puppeteer from ‘see’ and ‘hear’ from the perspective of what is connected to the string.

Shizumeru • Shuriken
C-Rank Tenkujutsu (Nin)
After forming the required hand seals, Li will gather Maroon colored chakra into his hand, and create up to eight shuriken. These projectiles are created at a speed of 10, and have a strength of 10. However their speed is based off of Li’s strength stat. It should be noted that these shuriken are able to bypass all non-Tenkujutsu defenses.

The young man's maroon shuriken's managed to draw the attention of one of the creatures, one of the small ones named Juu as the shuriken barely stuck in the sand worms hard outer layer of skin now. It was like a mosquito bite to something so large but as it did the spirit instantly noticed that it was Tenku chakra due to how it felt and how it had passed through the sand above it. "Sir, their is a Tenku user nearby." "Juu, take care of it. I won't let a single person distract us from our objective." The older and larger worm that measured nearly forty meters in total length sporting the armored head spoke back to the other worm informing him to break off and deal with the shinobi. It had other plans in mind and still held a strong grudge for the ones who had sealed them away so many years ago. A single shinobi was nothing, it wanted to slaughter an entire village. Hearing the command it silently obeyed their leader and the twenty meter long worm made a hard, almost ninety degree turn heading straight for the man who was concealed within the puppet. While not the fastest it's speed was still fast enough to allow the subterranean creature to rapidly close the once vast distance as the other two continued on leaving the two to what ever their fates might be. 'I'll eat this one quickly and earn from praise from out leader!'

Post by Izanagi » Sun Mar 25, 2018 4:22 pm

It had been a full two days since the outbreak of Spirits throughout Oasis Country and the borders of Fire and Wind. Luckily the spirits had seemed to gravitate towards the shinobi nations leaving much of the civilians throughout Oasis Country unharmed for their villages were few and far between. The Spirits seemed to have a personal vendetta against shinobi and that could certainly be used to one’s advantage. After all it was much easier dealing with powerful foes when their movements were predictable. The Hokage had answered Suna’s call for aid, having already dispatched the strongest of Spirits within his own homeland he now ventured into Wind Country territory. As his side was a masked ANBU operative, his face covered by the likeness of a red phoenix carved and colored into the white porcelain. Takeo’s own attire consisted of a brown haori, black metal arm and leg guards, black pants and several notable weapons throughout his person including a wakizashi across his back, a short sword at his lower back and a dagger on his right thigh in addition to double kunai holsters. On his right arm was a red band indicating his status as Hokage, while his left shoulder was marked with the tattoo of ANBU and across his forehead was the symbol of the leaf village.

The two moved in tandem with each other at a speed of 25, assessing the situation as the closed in, noting the movement of sand around the large tower. When the worms emerged and a Suna puppet engaged one of them Takeo and his ANBU operative slowed slightly, now at a distance of 60 meters as they observed the interaction. Forming a series of hand seals Takeo pressed his hand against the ground and with a poof of chakra smoke a massive war bear was summoned forth. “Looks like we’re in for a good fight today, give that puppet a hand, the Suna shinobi is likely inside or nearby, keep him safe and kill the worm engaging him” he instructed to the large bear who growled lowly, “Got it” he said simply, already deeming the massive creature well worth fighting. With surprising quickness the large armored bear sprinted forward, closing distance at the same speed as the 20 meter long sand worm Sesshoujin would cause tremendous shaking to the ground as he moved, so much so that as he neared the beast, it’s movement obvious by the distorting earth and sand, the worm would find itself unable to burrow, the shaking far too intense and disorienting. For an opening move the bear would simple lift its massive weapon over its head and smash down on the ground directly above the worm, using its incredible strength to create a large crater in the ground with devastating force, hoping to deal some damage to the creature and force it out of hiding.

Meanwhile Takeo and Shujaku would pursue the others, the earth worms moved with remarkable quickness and so Takeo drew one of his kunai, throwing it at the smaller worm with incredible speed and power, aiming to injure it slightly but more importantly draw its attention. Assuming it like its ally branched off to the deal with the threat the two shinobi would close in to a distance of about 25 meters, “Take care of this one, the big guy is all mine” the Hokage instructed to which the ANBU operative would nod, “No problem” he stated confidently, already forming a set of hand seals as the Hokage seemed to flicker out of the area, utilizing his full speed few could even perceive his movements. In an instant he had crossed a 15 meter span, closing in at an incredible rate on the largest sand worm. Forming hand seals the ANBU operative would soon surround himself in a radiant red light, potentially blinding the worm if it even had eyes to begin with. Likely it wouldn’t stop it completely but all he was aiming for was a moment where the creature reeled back and hopefully exposed its head and mouth. Forming a second set of seals and moving in to a distance of 15 meters the light around him would dim slightly as chakra gathered around his glowing red eyes before firing off a powerful red laser beam of light, aimed to impact the worm at its head and mouth area, testing the creature’s resilience and hoping to inflict some kind of damage.

Finally, the Hokage would make a move of his own. Evidently the largest worm was in a league of its own, it was nearly as fast as himself and no doubt incredibly strong. He would have to keep some distance and test its defences before deciding how to go about taking the creature down. Once he had closed in to a distance of about 35 meters he would begin forming handseals as he shouted out, “I don’t know what your intentions are but I am an ally of this nation. You’ll go no further than this!” he demanded as flames gathered in his hand, forming into a highly condensed spear. Hurling it with all his might and impressive accuracy he aimed to strike the creature in the neck, detonating the spear in a thunderous explosion and a massive plume of flames in addition to the striking force of his throw. Such an attack was enough to bring down most adversaries, perhaps even the smaller worms had he targeted them personally though he would be surprised if a creature as grand as this one would be brought down so easily. Still, it would surely gather its attention and allow him to assess what kind of damage if any an attack of that level could make on this creature.

*[Toryu • Earthshaker]

A-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 35 Strength
A devastating dash attack known for it’s ability to cause tremors in the earth, the user will take a brief moment to ready themselves, digging their foot into the ground and building up power in their leg. Then in a burst of movement, the user will kick off into a dash so hard that the force they put into the earth actually causes the ground to rumble with tremors radiating out to 15 meters, causing anyone with a Taijutsu stat 10 or more underneath the user’s strength to struggle with standing or moving even at a walking pace. This makes the perfect cover for the Toryu user to charge into battle headfirst as it makes it more difficult for those who aren’t taijutsu practitioners to retaliate against their advance.

Used by Shujaku (Masuru)

Light Release • Divine Intervention
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: 23 Ninjutsu
After forming the necessary hand seals the user will begin to emanate a blinding aura that shrouds the users body and radiates outwards. The blinding light is so intense that anyone who looks directly at the user will be completely blinded for one full post. Additionally anyone who comes within a 5 meter diameter of the user will receive second degree burns across their body. This technique lasts for a maximum of 6 posts.

Light Release • Improved Blazing Vision Technique

B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: 23 Ninjutsu
Performing the hand seals and then opening both eyes wide, the user of this technique essentially 'sucks in' some of the light in the immediate area into their eyes, temporarily darkening the area around them, and then releases it from both eyes charged with chakra. Two beams of light shoot from both eyes at a target up to 20 meters away at 26 speed, starting at the size of a pupil but expanding as they travel by up to as large as a fist. Both beams are bright, and impact with 20 strength when they land, causing 3rd degree burns on contact.

Used by Takeo

*Ninjutsu • Spiritualism Technique]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
The base technique for summoning, the Spiritualism Technique allows users to bring forth their summons to fight on their behalf. Once an agreement has been made between the user and their summon, they will be able to use this technique to call upon it at any time unless stated otherwise. The chakra used for this technique varies, as it is dependent on the size and rank of what is being summoned. Once it has been summoned, the user will experience a constant drain on their chakra for as long as the summon is in place. This drain is also dependent on the size and rank of the summon.

*Katon • Izanagi's Spear

A-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will form a condensed 5cm diameter, 3 meter long spear of fire in their hand then throw it at an opponent. At any time during the course of the spear's travel, the user may use Chakra Kai to activate the spear. This causes the spear to rapidly unwind and expand into a 10 meter long, 7 meter diameter whirlwind of fire at a speed of 30. On impact, the spear will then explode at A-Rank strength.

First Small Worm

As the bear approached, the worm was able to sense the tremendous vibrations that were coming from the approaching bear now, able to tell when it was approaching to the appropriate distance now. Instinctively the subterranean creature flicked its tail that was underground against the wall of the sand tunnel it was creating behind it now causing for the ground to rapidly cave in behind it now. This would cause the bear's footing to dissolve into a sinking pit as the creature pushed to its full speed in order to escape the chasing spirit. Closing in on the puppet user and his puppet the creature would burst through the ground in an attempt to crash through the spirit with its weight and speed now, using itself as a battering ram of sports with its slightly armored head as the ram.

Second Worm

The Hokage's attack was successful in drawing the attention of the second smaller worm, Kuu, as it veered off now in the direction of the two addition men now planning to quickly dispatch the pair as it also moved to burrow deeper into the earth. The Awai's 'flash' was utterly useless as the creature burrowed deep into the earth as the disturbance of the sand seemed to all but fade away now as the light based attack smashed into the sand actually melting it slightly at both points of impact and then everything seemed to go completely silent in the area now. Only the sounds of conflict with the other smaller worm and the Hokage attacking the largest of the worm could be heard as the wind swept across the desert...

Takeo

'Who is this?' The larger worm was one who had lived for quite some time and had experienced much more combat then both the younger ones combined and just by the speed at which the single figure was approaching due to the vibrations in the earth the leader of this group was able to easily deduce that this man was no simple shinobi. Without even thinking the creature dug deeper into the loose sand and began to devour the earth below as it started to circle around in a wide arch diverting from its previous direct line. It was at this moment that the spear attack exploded above ground with its violent explosion sending down into the ground a mess of vibration and sound that actually stunned the worm for a brief second. If it had been one of the smaller worms then they would have been stunned for several seconds but the more experienced spirit was able to overcome the shock and continue 'eating' the earth below as it built a large tunnel beneath the ground. It wasn't quite ready to face this shinobi above ground if it could help it now, weary of this new comer's strength..

Li jumped out of Spike as the earth began to shake, charging a large amount of chakra into the inscription on Spike’s head as he flew through the air. Li felt the drain of an A rank jutsu as lightning burst forth from Spike's feet, hopefully saving the puppet from the wurm’s attack. As Li landed he began forming hand seals at an incredible rate, and as soon as he completed them maroon chains shot out from him.

Li wanted to bind this spirit, and get him sealed into the capsule in Spike’s tail. He had a feeling that this wurm would make a decent Tsukimogami. It was then.that he noticed not only the bear, but the other two shinobi. ”Well met! Are you the back up the village promised?! Even though he was soft spoken, his voice carried to the other two shinobi. Li hoped that they would not mistake him for a girl as most everyone did.

Thunder Stomp
By surging an A rank amount of chakra into the Fuuinjutsu, Li is able to activate Spike’s secondary ability. A massive amount of electricity will burst forth from Spike’s feet, and cause damage based on the Raiton shocking passive. The blast travels five meters in ever direction.

*Shizumeru • [Grasp of Authority]
A-rank Tenkujutsu (Nin)
After performing a set of hand seals, the user focuses chakra towards their hand. A chain made of Maroon chakra will shoot from their palm towards the target at 25 speed, up to 30 meters away. If it hits a spirit, a jinchuuriki, tsukimogami, or other such being, the chain will wrap around them, placing their arms, if they have any, to their side, stopping them from performing hand seals. These chains cling to the chakra of the Spirit itself, and are unable to be broken through physical means. If the target has a related Mastery stat or a Spirit has a strength stat higher than 25, they are able to break the binding. If the chains are able to stay on their target for a full 5 posts, they will drain away, this will cause a drop in available forms by 3 for up to 5 posts

Post by Izanagi » Mon Mar 26, 2018 5:36 pm

The Great War bear grumbled and grunted as it crashed through the earth, dirt and sand mixing as it slid down the sides of the great crater he had created upon collapsing the tunnel. “Slippery Bastard” he groaned in annoyance, wasting no time in resting his large weapon over his shoulder as he kicked off the ground with all his strength, leaping out of the pit and scrambling a little with his left hand to grab hold of the edge of the 30 meter wide crater and pull himself to somewhat more solid ground and more densely packed sand. Scanning his surroundings for a moment the bear took sight of the puppet, noting the brilliant blue sparks of electricity radiating outward as the worm crashed through the surface. If a bear could grin he would, finally the damn thing was properly exposed and with any luck paralyzed. The Suna shinobi soon had it encased in a maroon chains though if the worm regained its ability to move he doubted they would hold it for long.

Already the bear was advancing, he knew his part to play in all of this. Often Takeo used restraining techniques or various set up jutsu for Sesshoujin to land a final decisive blow, for anything the bear made direct contact with he obliterated with unparalleled force and destructive ability. Charging the creature the bear leaped into the air, hearing the Suna shinobi’s words but having no time to respond to them just yet. Gripping his weapon with both hands and holding it high overhead he came slamming down with his defence breaking end of the hammer-sycthe. The nearly 12ft tall, over 1000lbs grizzly, clad in full plate mail came flying down at the worm aiming to slam his weapon with 50 strength into its body, the force of his swing so incredible it created a 5 meter long pressure wave moving at 50 speed and strength ahead of his own weapon. Was it overkill? Certainly, but that was the only way Sesshoujin, whose name translated to ‘Destruction of Life’ knew how to do things. The worm had angered him and now he would let that fury be known. Roaring with such ferocity that the sound echoed for miles the bear would put everything it had into the strike. Once he landed he would grunt heavily a few times before addressing the Suna shinobi, “Allies from the Leaf Village, the Hokage himself has come to assist” he informed proudly. For all of his strength there was one man even more fearsome than he, a man worthy of his respect and fealty, Takeo, Hokage of the Leaf Village.

Masuru

Beneath his mask Masuru, known as Shujaku while in uniform, furrowed his brow. His aura of light seemed to have no effect on the creature and even his lasers had narrowly missed, ‘It’s fast, going to have to draw it into the open’ he realized, a sentiment much easier thought than done. The fact that the worm didn’t seem to rely much on sight troubled him, the majority of his style relied on blinding his opponents or moving unseen. In the desert, against such a creature he was terribly out of his element. However the Hokage, his close friend had entrusted him to defeat this spirit alone and so he would put forth his fullest effort and find a way to kill the creature or at the very least keep it occupied and away from Takeo. First he would dispel his jutsu, knowing that he would have to make his next moves count and be careful with how he spent his chakra from here on out. Next he would leap into the air, forming a set of hand seals as a platform of light formed beneath him at an elevation of 5 meters, another 3 meters above it on a 45 degree angle and the last another 3 meters higher on the same angle. The Jounin would then remain on the first platform and continue to hold the handseals, willing it to move higher with him on it until he came to an elevation of 30 meters. From this vantage point he would observe the battlefield, seeing for miles and noting that none of the others seemed in immediate danger. Grabbing a kunai tagged with an exploding tag he would throw it into the sand below before detonating it, curious to see how the worm would react and hoping to draw it out of hiding. If the creature didn’t rely much on sight he speculated that vibration sense would draw its attention.

Takeo

The muscular man observed how the great spirit wasted no time in burrowing into the ground, ‘Typical…and troublesome’ he noted. He was definitely at a disadvantage in this environment but if the worm wanted to attack him it was also likely limited in its options. At some point it would have to emerge in an attempt to either swallow him whole or bludgeon him to death with its massive body. However he would take advantage of the fact that the creature seemed to want to bide its time. Even in an environment such as this it was not so easy to escape from the Hokage of the leaf. Forming a set of handseals the man would focus his chakra, surging outward as he sensed the location of the large worm, its chakra was easily detected and he would waste no time in moving into position, forming a long sequence of handseals the man would remain stationary at first and then suddenly move to intercept the direction in which the worm had been travelling, slamming his palm on the ground at an estimated 10 meters in front of the creature as his chakra tore the ground asunder, ripping a massive canyon into the desert ground and sending debris rocketing outwards in all directions with deadly force. The ground rumbled and quaked for miles and anything within a relatively close proximity, to either side of the splitting canyon would be pelted by shrapnel. For any creature caught within the separation of the earth itself death was typically instantaneous. All he needed was to at least clip some part of the great worm and surely it would be crippled.

*Shinden • Castle Gate Cutter
A-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 35 Strength
The user begins by assuming a Shinden stance, resting the back of the blade on a shoulder. The user then executes a highly damaging overhead slash combining every ounce of muscle torque the user can generate, which can be damaging to those without high endurance. In addition to its destructive force, the technique produces an air pressure with the slash that carries the force forward up to 5 meters at a speed equal to their strength, creating a three foot long and five inch wide 'air blade' that can cut with the same sharpness as a sword attack.

D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After forming the necessary handseals the user will focus on an area within 10 meters of themselves creating up to three 1 meter diameter platforms made of condensed light. These platforms are only warm to the touch and shine with rank appropriate brightness. Each platform forms with 5 speed and can sustain 5 strength. Additionally they must be formed within 3 meters of one another. These platforms will last for 4 posts and can move with a speed of 5 if the user continues to hold a hand seal.

Takeo:

*[Sensory Style • Broad Sense]
B-Rank Ninjutsu
Prerequisites: *[Beyond Senses], Ninjutsu/Control/Instinct stats of 20
This jutsu is an extension of [Beyond Senses]. With this jutsu initiated, a sensor can focus on individual chakra signatures to get a precise idea of where their opponents are at up to 25 yards. A general sense of the direction and number of chakra sources can be determined at about 50 yards. It should be noted that this jutsu requires intense concentration, often making the user shut their eyes so they can focus on the jutsu solely. Even with high levels of Chakra Control and Instinct, this jutsu can be mentally taxing as it requires the user to sort through the individual chakra sources in the sensor’s range.

Even more powerful than its predecessor Takeo has taken this legendary jutsu to the next step. After performing the correct hand seals the user will slam their palm down on the ground. Their chakra will violently rend the ground tearing it apart in a 45 meter line at a speed of 30 with a strength of 50. The tearing is 20 meters wide and 25 meters deep, shooting dangerous rubble, rock, and everything on the ground into the surrounding air during the technique. Over all this causes great destruction, leaving a grand valley in its wake. Even standing near the path of this technique is quite dangerous due to the immense force of the flying debris.

[Graded][Red Alert] From Beneath the Sand - Ōkubi

Post by Valkier » Tue Mar 27, 2018 11:28 am

The cacophony of open conflict resonated for miles, the land groaning and heaving from powers that would send most men running in fear. Terūin Hayashi, jounin of Konohagakure, was not one of those men. While he hadn't beenamong the first dispatched to answer the call of this sudden invasion of spirits, the crisis had deepened day by day - far worse than any had initially anticipated - to the point that he could no longer afford to leave it to others. His skills and experience had quickly seen him separated from his latest genin squad and sent out to the front lines himself.
Having followed the trail of destruction in the wake of other spirits, he was now on the forefront of the invasion and pursuing his commanding officer, the Hokage, as Takeo pushed himself from battle to battle like a one-man-army. The man was undeniably strong - one of the strongest Hokage that Konoha had known in recent history - but one man alone could not carry the burden of an entire country's war effort. Finally, approaching at speed, Hayashi spotted his once-student and made a beeline towards the battle in the sands.

Moving as quickly as his feet could carry him, Hayashi ran in an arc at a distance to gain perspective of the various fights going on. He picked out the figure that was Takeo and watched how the Hokage's quarry dove back into the shifting sands. A lone ANBU agent stood sentinel over a second concealed worm, and a ninja he did not recognise fought alongside a huge bear against another. Those two seemed capable and were already taking control of their fight, and as he watched Takeo, the earth split from the Hokage's strike and tore the desert asunder. The was an exceptional doton user, and if anyone could hold their own against these worms in an arena of sand, it would be he.

That made Hayashi's decision simple, and he moved to join his masked ANBU comrade watching over the second small worm. By fighting together, they stood a good chance of dealing with that lesser threat quickly and could then combine their strengths to the other two parties - though a small part of the protective sensei in Hayashi kept an occasional eye on Takeo's struggle in the distance, just in case. He approached the area of the second worm and leaped into the air at the same time as he watched the ANBU agent fling a tagged kunai into the sand. Landing on one the next light-formed platform down from his accomplice - and absently admiring how bloody useful the Hiton technique might be for this fight - he was already mid-way into a stream of hand seals. A moment later he stretched out a palm, condensing his chakra into a small, black orb that smoked faintly as it spun.

When the explosive tag detonated, kicking up a spray of sand, Hayashi threw the orb with precision and speed right into the hole created by the blast below. Upon impact, the orb erupted into a cloud of dense, burning ash -- but mostly submerged as it was, it didn't create the usual cloud it was designed to. Instead, half of the technique shot backwards up out of the hole and covered the immediate area on the ground beneath the two ninja on their floating platforms. The rest of the sudden cloud of ash would surge downwards into the tunnel created by the sandworm, forced along the route the worm had dug since there was nowhere else for it to go. In a few short moments, both the tunnel under the sand, and the top layer of sand itself above, would be covered in clinging, burning hot ash that would surely threaten the beast if it emerged again within their vicinity. Hayashi turned to the ANBU agent and gave a sharp, acknowledging nod.

B-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the requisite hand seals, the user will form a large ball of ash in their hand and throw it to the ground, whereupon it will erupt into a cloud of dense, burning, and clinging ash. The cloud will rapidly expand at a speed of 20 to occupy a sphere with radius of 20 metres, filling the air within. Anything inside the cloud will suffer first degree burns immediately, escalating to second degree burns by the second post, and the extent of regular vision will be reduced to 1m in any direction. The cloud can remain in the air for a maximum number of posts equal to 1/3 the user’s stamina, rounded up.

Just as the puppet had came out of the ground the attack from the puppet spread out striking the puppet, though it had succeeded in temporarily paralyzing the creature its forward momentum from leaping out of the earth to deliver a head butt style attack to the fourteen foot tall puppet could not be stopped as it came down with a thundering thud atop the puppet if their was no way for the puppeteer to move it in time. This left the worm almost completely paralyzed, the front half of the worm's body would be unable to move as the back half flailed back and forth trying to move, burrow into the ground, or anything that it could feeling like fish out of water atop the sand. It was able to turn itself just slightly fearing the thunder of the approaching footsteps that carried the clanging of metal armor, the creature that had been attempting to attack it earlier was upon him and their was literally nothing that it could do. The small worm let out a painful cry that echoed through the windy desert as the blow from the bear had actually managed to strike it directly in the center completely severing the worm into two separate halves that wiggled slightly before ceasing to move at all.

Masuru

The creature had dug deep enough to not reveal it's presence from the surface as it was slowly circling the last spot that the shinobi had made contact with the ground increasing the concentric circles around that area slowly devouring the sand underneath him as it prepared a type of pitfall traps as it built tunnels beneath the earth. His opponent's explosive kunai actually detonated causing a three meter hole of sand to fall down into one of the tunnels that had been created as the actually explosion stunned the creature slightly. These type of worms were completely subterranean creatures and relied heavily upon their ability to precisely identify different vibrations to avoid predators and stalk prey. It was stunned only briefly before it continued to dig a series of tunnels. Biding its time as it planned to force the shinobi to fall into the tunnel system were it could easily deal with him either through collapsing the tunnel upon him or dealing with him personally. Though as it was tunneling it felt a burning sensation coming up from behind itself as the hot ash had drifted through the portion of the tunnel it was traveling in as it was still devouring sand to create a tunnel system beneath the surface. Wincing slightly it dug faster now and with a sense of urgency, knowing that part of its tunnel creation was now unable to be used thanks to this second shinobi that had approached and had his vibrations disappear like the first. The creature was still unwilling to reveal itself for at least the time being unless truly forced to.

Takeo

The largest of worms, the forty meter behemoth continued its circling pattern as it was attempting to also forge the sandy desert into its own advantageous battlefield were it could hopefully injure and devour the man who had been chasing him. Attempting to be care in this manner it had not expected to be so easily found and then attacked by the Hokage who launched an attack of the earth style against him. Ōkubi did the only that it could as the creature turned quickly in the sand in order to face the attack head on as the creature drove its layered, armored head directly into the attack as the depth of the grand valley created was even able to reach the depths at which the creature had been burrowing. The fly rocks were mainly taken head on by the armored-like head as pieces of the armor were damaged, cracked, and some pieces were actually broken off to reveal a second layer of armor. The hear was were the worm's vital organs were all located and in turn the creature had grown two layers of hardened armor to protect them.

While the head portion of the took the most damage the body still suffered from some of the collateral damage but that didn't stop the creature from standing itself straight up now and then slamming its head down with a powerful strike that would cause an extreme earthquake to radiate out from the attack now. All the tunnels that it had been digging along with some it hadn't collapsed as the sheer force from the attack was enough to injure those weaker than itself. In a fit of rage it had used one of its more powerful attacks against this stranger, rage and fear were the two feelings within the creatures mind as it hadn't faced an opponent like this in sometime...it needed to try and finish him quickly if at all possible as shinobi were to unpredictable to fight for any prolong period of time and where their was one their was always more. He would die before being sealed away again like before.

Li had very nearly broken down into tears when he saw the wurm land on Spike, though, thankfully, Spike had not been broken. However, watching the bear split the wurm in half made Li feel much better. He rushed into action, releasing the capsule from Spike’s tail as he began forming a long string of hand seals. He knew that he should help the others’ fight their battles, but he did not want to take the chance of letting this wurm regenerate itself. Not to mention the fact that he could later seal this wurm into a tsukimogami.

As he finished his hand seals, Li placed his left hand on the wurm, and his right hand on the capsule. The capsule has begun to glow with a bright maroon light as it sucked the spirit into it. Once the sealing was complete, Li was exhausted, but he prepared himself to continue fighting. A quick assessment of Spike told Li that he was in no shape to fight, which meant Li had to rely purely on his Tenkujutsu in the coming fight.

Sesshoujin

With the first of the smaller worms bisected the gruff bear gave the Suna shinobi a nod, noting the way he sealed the beast. In a way it was actually a little disconcerting, considering he was a spirit himself, to be trapped and sealed inside another or forced into the confines of weapon was a fate far worse than death. Still he wouldn’t lose sleep over his part to play in the worm’s demise, it had been an enemy and he had prevailed, that was all that he needed to know. “Looks like I’m done here. Well fought.” He commented, appreciating the assist with the ration jutsu and with that the bear would disperse in a puff of smoke, returning to the spirit realm.

Masuru

Beneath his phoenix mask Masuru smiled as he noticed the fellow ANBU operative arrive on the scene, the man wasn’t clad in formal gear nor did he wear a mask but both had been a part of the organization long enough to put the pieces together and figure out a few of the more notable members. “I appreciate the back up Tanchōzuru” he called out, having worked with the man on a handful of occasions but never really interacting with him outside of the uniform. Out here in the middle of the desert he wasn’t too worried about anyone overhearing him. Interestingly enough ‘Shujaku’ had actually narrowly avoided having the man as a Sensei, being apart of Takeo’s first team under the leadership of Toshiaki but advancing to Chunin quite quickly before Takeo had been reassigned to a new team and Sensei. Still he had great respect for the man, if nothing else from his reputation and both skilled and professional demeanor. Moving his own platform lower in elevation while simultaneously raising Hayashi’s he noted the clever use of ash jutsu to attempt to smoke the beast out.

Hovering 5 meters apart and each at an elevation of 25 meters the man would begin throwing a series of tagged kunai, twelve of them in total, each spaced about 5 meters apart, covering a large area and creating an explosive minefield of sorts. That was just the beginning however. “One way or another we’ll flush him out” he assured, speaking almost to himself, he knew he didn’t need to explain strategy to Hayashi whom while equal in rank and status was admittedly much more skilled and experienced than himself. ‘And now for the finale’ he thought to himself, forming a set of seals and placing his hands outward for flair as a massive grid of deadly red lasers formed beneath them, covering a cube 20 meters in all dimensions. Next the Awai would form a single hand seal, detonating his explosive tags one at a time, detonating tags back and forth around the outer perimeter, collapsing the tunnel in the outer areas and hopefully spooking the creature inward, disorienting and continuing to injure it as it choked on the ash. Eventually he hoped it would seek salvation or retaliation on the surface, even if it meant just sticking its head out of the ground for some relief. And when he did the worm would find itself promptly sliced into small 6 inch sections as the lasers did their work. If not the Jounin would simply detonate the 8 tags in the middle, creating a large explosion which might have a similar effect regardless.

Takeo

The Hokage’s eyes widened as the colossal worm burst through the ground in front of him. To think anything could survive such outstanding force was truly a terrifying thought or at least it would be to most individuals. Instead of fear however Takeo’s eyes lit up with excitement as his heart pounded faster and a grin spread across his face. This was what he lived for, over the past few days these spirits had been fulfilling his craving for adrenaline and danger and more importantly brushing the rust off his combat skills. As the supposed strongest shinobi of the hidden leaf village it was of paramount importance that he remained in top form and that meant consistent combat at the highest levels. When the muscular leader eventually died or passed on his title he would be certain to be remembered as a leader who consistently fought on the front lines, carrying the heaviest burdens on his own shoulders and never shying away from a battle. Anyone or anything that threatened the leaf village would have to go through him first and he made sure to make that known to all.

His hand seals were brief as the beast reared up to slam into him. He didn’t have to do much, the worm was on very unstable ground after all, in fact the majority of its body was sliding back into the great canyon that he had created, meaning it would only get one chance to take the man down with it. Wind chakra gathered around Takeo’s feet as he leaped high into the air, easily 15 meters as chakra surged into his fist. He was faster than the colossal worm and his reaction speed was on a completely different level than the beast, that was all the advantage he needed. As it reared down towards the ground he was already above it, giving it no time to adjust its course of motion as he slammed all of his force into the top of the creatures head, harvesting its own momentum, his own remarkable strength and an additional explosive impact to desively slam its face into the ground. The massive impact in fact would be enough to reach the other worm, further adding to the explosions and confusion it was dealing with, cracking the earth and shaking it for hundreds of meters around the point of impact. The battle wouldn’t quite end their however.

Enhancing his leap once more the Hokage kicked off the creature’s head, flipping backwards into the air an additional 20 meters as he formed another set of hand seals. As he descended, still at a comfortable height above the trembling and collapsing ground the Hokage formed a massive wave of water, appearing from thin air ina truly tremendous feat considering the arid environment. The 60 meter wide wave would slam into the worm, pushing the last of it over the edge into the ravine and the substantial 25 meter fall. The water would seep into the brken earth, creating an elaborate network of streams and rivers in additional to the waterfall pouring down the cliff which would eventually settle into a small lake, drowning the beast if it wasn’t already dead. With one last set of handseals the man would create a pocket of air, landing gracefully above the flowing water and promptly leaping towards one of the dry areas next to one of the many streams. By now the man was breathing fairly heavily, seating lightly from exertion and from the heat. Assuming the creature had been overcome he would crouch down and cup some of the water, drinking from his hands and running some of the refreshing liquid over his head and face. Already he was feeling much more refreshed, still smiling contently from the battle. "Hito owes me a full banquet after that one" he commented to himself, chuckling lightly. His team had done a great favor for the Sand village and he knew it would not be forgotten.

Light Release • Laser Death Trap
A-Ranked Ninjutsu
After forming hand seals the user will use Hiton chakra to create a large grid of condensed light from within 10 meters of oneself. These lasers form at 10 speed and can slice and pierce through targets with 40 strength while also inflicting 3rd degree burns on contact and blinding any who look directly at any of the beams. The entire grid can take up an area of up to 20x20 meters cubed, creating a tight criss-crossing net with a minimum of 6 inches of space in the opening between where the lasers intersect. This defensive matrix can last for a maximum of 5 posts.

*Fuuton • Enhanced Launch
D-Ranked Fuuton Jutsu
After doing the needed hand seals, the user gathers wind around their feet. Then, the user will use the wind to blast them from the ground, enabling them to leap into the air an extra 10 meters at 3 extra speed. The user also has 3 less Taijutsu until they once again touch the ground. Those with less than 5 Taijutsu (after deduction) will stumble and fall when trying to land. The Fuuton passive is not applied in this technique.

[Katon • Comet Punch Technique]
B-Rank Nintaijutsu
A technique much like its predecessor, the user instead concentrates a far more potent amount of chakra into their fist and rushes at an opponent quickly. When they punch, flames trail behind their fist giving this attack its name and when it connects it's both a powerful punch as well as an immediate release of flames in the fist. The flames travel in an updraft style, exploding with the force of four exploding tags directed outward from the user's fist. It also can cause first or second degree burns and the overall force of the punch is enough to blow a hole in concrete or uproot entire trees.

Colliding worlds
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
When in close range Takeo will cup either an opponent’s head or control them under their arm, he will then spin and turn their body in a wheel like fashion, hurtling them towards a wall or additional opponents will devastating force. Often this technique is used against charging opponents, utilizing their own momentum against them, however this can be used against a stationary target as well though in such a case the opponent can resist if their strength is equal to or greater than Takeo’s.

*Suiton • Tidal Wave
S-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user creates water from thin air and forms so much that it creates a tidal wave 60 meters wide and 10 meters tall. The wave will flow forward at a speed of 30 and with 40 strength, crashing into and destroying everything in it's path for up to 50 meters before running out of power.

Fuuton • Wind Cushion
C-ranked Fuuton jutsu
After forming the required hand seals Takeo will focus chakra into a location within 15 meters of his person. At the designated location a platform of wind will emerge with up to a 10 meter radius and up to 2 meters of depth. When a force impacts this accumulation of wind it will act as a cushion, bracing the impact of a fall from even a height of up to 100 meters. The wind will disperse harmlessly on impact, similarly doing no harm to those land on it. This construct of sorts forms with a speed of 10.

Standing on Shujaku's raised platform, Hayashi waited for a retaliation from the beast lurking below. By now his ash would've found the buried spirit - unless it had dug further and faster than he'd assumed, there wouldn't have been anywhere else for the burning cloud to go - yet the worm hadn't reappeared. The beauty of ash was in its clinging, though; the longer the beast remained in the scorched tunnels, the worse it'd get hurt. Since the platform was apparently safe, the two jounin were apparently free to consider their offensive. Hayashi began weaving his own set of seals at the same time as his comrade began throwing weapons. He could see what the man was doing, and Hayashi knew the ideal way to support him. Together, Shujaku and Tanchōzuru would flush the worm out and crush it between them. Its defensive nature meant that the fight was entirely within their power; which meant the outcome was already decided.

Standing over the battlefield like a silent sentinel, Hayashi completed his technique just as Shujaku finished tossing his tagged kunai and began his own set of seals. A wind rose around Hayashi, spiralling around him and complementing the exhilarating rush of chakra as he poured it out into the flows of air. The air whipped into a tempest and shot away from him, forming into the shape of a giant dragon that was itself a similar size to the giant worm below - which made it perfect for what he had in mind. The slashing roar of the thousands upon thousands of fuuton blades that created the body of the beast whipped up a loud scream as the beast plunged down towards the sea of sand - and, guided by Hayashi's expert hand, disappeared directly into the network of tunnels through the entrance blown open by Shujaku's earlier tagged kunai.

Beneath the sands, the great fuuton dragon would follow the course of the tunnels, deeper and deeper. If it encountered the worm - well, it would continue right on through it, striking the creature with tremendous force and lacerating through the spirit with a strength that made steel look like hot butter. If it somehow didn't find the worm, it instead would work its way to the deepest part of the tunnels - or as far as it could go, 200 metres from its creator - and then scour its way back upwards, forcefully flushing out its quarry. If that too failed, it would simply tear through the soft sea of sand and destroy the network of tunnels itself, hopefully revealing the worm in the process.
While the technique itself might not be enough to instantly kill the worm, that was only a secondary purpose. All it really had to do was force the beast upwards and into the path of Shujaku's deadly network of explosions and scorching laser grids...

S-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will create a serpentine dragon of wind approximately 20m long and 10m in diameter. This dragon will move at a speed of 35 according to the user's will for 3 posts. While it does not have a hard skin, anything which it passes over will be exposed to incredibly strong blades of wind constantly roaring within it, which strike rapidly with a strength of 35. These roaring blades of wind not only constantly sound like the intimidating roar of a dragon, but are sharp enough to cut through steel. The user cannot move while controlling the dragon, nor can they cast any other techniques. The dragon may only move up to 200 meters away from the user.

At the man started to detonate the seals one after the other, the creature which had already been forced away due to the ash cloud attack from the new shinobi started to dig itself in the opposition direction at full speed having sensed that its 'brother' was no longer moving and it could feel the mass disturbances from where the 'boss' had been fighting. Their is an survival factor known as fight or flight and in this case the creature decided that it was in its best interest to literally run away as the detonating of kunai 'hurt' it momentarily each time one went off but that was only a driving force to cause the create to flee at its upmost speed. With this sudden increase of speed away from the two shinobi and the other two battlefields the slightly injured creature from the first ash interaction was fleeing for its life now. The attack from the shinobi caused for a series of tunnels that surrounded a hundred meter radius to collapse in now as the attack itself found its way into the tunnel that lead toward the running worm giving them a directional marker of which way the worm had escaped towards.

As Li rushed over to try and lend a hand to the other shinobi he froze. They were on a completely different level than him. Sure he was a Jounin, but he felt like he should still be in the academy as he watched them fight. However, despite feeling incompetent, Li began forming hand seals while running. He was attempting to get in front of the wurm that was fleeing, but it was moving much faster than before. As Li ran his legs began to burn, and his muscles began to cramp. He was over exerting himself, and had almost depleted himself of chakra. ”Where is that good for nothing Zao when you need him…”

It was not until Li’s legs gave out mid stride that he gave up chasing the beast. It was much too fast for him, and he was much too tired. He could not believe that he had gotten himself in such a situation, especially in the desert. If there weren’t other shinobi present Li would have worried about dying from the heat before his body recuperated.

[Graded][Red Alert] From Beneath the Sand - Ōkubi

Post by Izanagi » Sun Apr 01, 2018 9:48 am

Masuru

Their tactics had been nearly flawless, anticipating one another’s moves and complimenting each other with a devastatingly powerful coordinated effort. Just the kind of work one would expect from the elite that was ANBU. Behind his mask Shujaku marveled at the power of his comrades wind dragon, such a technique was on the scale of the Hokage himself, in fact it made him wonder why Tanchozuru was not commander of ANBU, he was likely every bit as powerful as Onigumo, perhaps more so and now the position had recently become vacant. Certainly he would vote for the man in any upcoming election. As the dragon descended into the ground, shredding the sand into such a fine grain that it would feel akin to silk the ground beneath would collapse, forming a large pit with the laser grid hovering above it. After a few moments of hearing the howling winds tearing into the earth it became apparent that there was a large tunnel leading away from them and towards Takeo. Immediately the Jounin released his laser grid jutsu, there was no purpose in it now. “That way!” he pointed, directing his companion, whom no doubt was already redirecting his wind dragon towards the tunnel. He doubted the worm would get very far, especially as a massive earthquake shook through the area and from his vantage point Shujaku could see the largest worm slam into the ground before being swept away by a massive wave of water, right into a large canyon which had not been there a few minutes ago.

Luckily the ANBU operative was still on his platform, safe from the shuddering ground and the rivers that spread out through a wide area of cracked and caved in earth. The terrain had changed considerably, where the Hokage fought now stood a small lake within the ravine, surrounded by a network of rivers stemming from a pond formed from the collapsed tunnels of the largest worm. There was even a waterfall flowing into the lake, steadily increasing its size as the rivers slowly began to flow backwards, some of the water being absorbed into the arid earth and sands and much flowing back into the pond and small lake. Surely the smaller worm was injured and stunned as it had rapidly closed in on the battle as the vibrations ravaged the area. There was nothing more Shujaku could do in this fight, he was already quite exhausted, breathing heavily. Compared to Takeo and Tanchozuru he was completely outclassed though he had no doubt the two of them would easily finish off the creature.

Takeo

Having rested just long enough to wash his face and take a refreshing drink of water, the Hokage suddenly turned as he heard the sound a something large coming his way. An earth worm being chased by a dragon composed of roaring winds to be precise. At a moments reaction he couldn’t identify whose technique it was or determine the exact range but he could gather that the worm was fleing for its life and also heading straight for him. Whether or not it had been stunned it was fairly easy to determine its location. The earth was cracked for nearly a kilometer around him and so wherever the creature passed through much of the ground collapsed and sprayed up dirt and sand. Rushing forward the man formed a set of handseals before drawing his sword, raising it above his head as he neared to about 20 meters away, they would be near the edge of the range of Hayashi’s wind dragon but if he kept up the technique then the worm would be trapped between the wind creation and the massive blade of air that formed when the Hokage made his slash. Ripping through the ground it would aim to slice the creature in half vertically though even if he forced it to slow or change its course backwards or to the side then the wind dragon that pursued it should have been able to consume to the beast and completely decimate the creature. Breathing a little heavily the Hokage would exhale sharply, taking deep breaths and feeling the sweat bead down his skin. He had used far more chakra than he had anticipated though after a bit of a soak and rest in the lake he had created he would be able to recover much of his stamina.

Jutsu UsedShow
Fuuton • Blade of Fujin
S-Ranked Fuuton Jutsu
After forming hand seals the user will place their hand on a bladed weapon, shrouding it in an aura of Fuuton. The next time the user swings their blade they will then be capable of releasing a highly refined and massive blade of wind towards their target. The wind expands like a disk when launched, remaining 1 inch thick but growing to 15 meters in height and 30 meters in length spreading out from the path of the slash. This blade of wind travels at a speed of 35 and impacts with 35 strength, delivering a deadly precision cut capable of cleaving a person, ship or even a building in half.

[Graded][Red Alert] From Beneath the Sand - Ōkubi

As the network of tunnels collapsed from the combined fury of the fleeing worm, Shujaku's explosions and the torrent of twisting winds from his wind dragon, Hayashi concentrated and directed the dragon to pursue. The worm carved a visible path through the sand as it fled, and it quickly became apparent that his jutsu simply didn't have the speed to keep up; he needed a different, faster approach. Before the worm had gotten far, Hayashi aborted the technique and took to a momentary crouch, shifting his concentration to focus energy into his legs. A moment later he launched himself away from the hovering platform of light, jumping far out into the air before falling to the ground and hitting in mid-stride. With his own two feet, enhanced to his limit, he could finally keep pace with - and even surpass - the worm's speed.

The worm was, however, still a ways ahead of him. The time wasted by chasing it with the wind dragon had given it a significant lead; though with his energy still relatively untapped from the fight so far, it was only a matter of time until Hayashi caught up and confronted it. The worm would know by now - with its ash-charred skin and memory of the wind dragon - that it couldn't hide beneath the sands from the jounin, and remaining above would lead to an even quicker demise. As he closed in, Hayashi reached one hand down to the hilt of his crane-marked sword, gripping it just so, ready to draw and strike the moment he caught up with the beast. He noticed another figure appear ahead and move to intercept, forming a blade of wind... Between the two of them, the worm had nowhere to run. Given the speeds and distances involved, it was likely that Takeo's attack would land first, cleaving the creature in two - but any attempt to dodge or turn away from that attack would undoubtedly subject it to Hayashi's strike - more mundane in execution, perhaps, but every bit as deadly from a trained swordsman such as he.
Techniques Used...Show
Whirlwind Step
B-Rank Taijutsu Stance
By bracing energy in their legs and then launching into movement at their maximum speed, in addition to moving in an unpredictable and difficult to follow manner, the user can appear as little more than a blurred streak to anyone with an instinct 10 or more points less than the user's natural speed. The rapid method of movement imparts a +8 speed boost to the user, but its light-footed nature makes them more vulnerable to taking hits, at -8 stamina until the stance ends. Use of this stance makes it considerably more difficult for opponents to follow the user's movements and read their attacks successfully if the target lacks the instinct to see through it.

*[Iaido • Iai Beheading Draw]
B-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: *Iaido • Beheading Draw, 25 Speed
With a Variation of the Beheading Draw technique, the user forces a very quick snap of tension and torque through their arm as they draw their sword sending it vertically or across with great speed. With its speed, the strike takes on a blur, many times not even appearing to be drawn from its sheath. This slash is also incredibly powerful with its speed, able to slice through stone in most cases with enough power.

For a moment, the creature thought that's desperation in burning its stamina in its frenzied attempt to escape had worked and that their was truly light at the end of the tunnel for it to live on another day. But it was at this moment that the tremor swept past it having had to travel quite some distance from the larger worm's position where it had launched its last attack at the Leaf's Hokage. Despite the vast gap the sensitive beast was stunned for a moment and as it came back to its full senses and started to once more flee it found itself with someone rapidly closing on its position. The worm then went truly code black as it mustered all its strength to continue fleeing hoping to out pace the closing shinobi that it wasn't able to sense the absolutely terrifying blade of wind that was approaching it. This attack had taken into accountability of the speed and direction of travel of the beast before being used meaning that it would hit its mark true, slicing easily through the sand with little resistance before then carving into the beast itself underneath the sand. A long line appeared down the beast body starting from behind the armored head which had a deep cut but it didn't fully break through the armored carapace there. Sadly only the heads of these worms were armored in such a way as deep red blood soon began to spill up through the sand as its movement stopped completely as from the head back the worm had been cleaved completely in half. All three worms had finally been dealt with at this time.

As the Hokage rushed forward, his weapon humming with power he noted the man that gave chase to the great sand worm. He grinned at the recognition, arguably the most deadly individual in ANBU and the best swordsman in the hidden leaf village, none other than his own former Sensei, Teruin Hayashi. Even for just this brief exchange it felt incredible to fight alongside Hayashi once more. Their teamwork was in sync to a level only comparable to his effectiveness with Masuru, Yoru and Aina. There was no hesitation in releasing the blade of wind, knowing that Hayashi would be well out of harms way and able to follow up with deadly and precision strikes should the worm manage to evade. Of course his own ability was among those of legends and sure enough his aim had been true. The wind ripped through the thick carapace of their adversary, cutting deep into its flesh and severing each of its vital organs, stopping the creature dead in its tracks, delivering an instant and almost painless end. “Still no sign of slowing down, even in your old age, eh Hayashi-Sensei?” he noted with a wide smile. If anything the Jounin seemed to be getting faster, stronger and more deadly every time the two had the good fortune of working together.

He had caught a glimpse of the previous use of the wind dragon but hadn’t immediately identified it as Hayashi’s technique. Such a jutsu was on the same scale as the techniques he utilized. For years now Takeo had surpassed his Sensei but now it seemed the gap had narrowed significantly. Both his own student Yoru and his Sensei were in a similar league as himself, constantly keeping him on his toes even after attaining the position of Hokage. Truly he was privileged to be in the company of such driven and capable individuals. It filled the man with great joy knowing the village had so many elite protectors and that should he ever fall the village would remain well guarded.

Hayashi didn't relent in his pursuit until the Hokage's fuuton strike took the beast head-on, cleaving clean through the creature and spraying blood across the settling sands. He stepped around the animal and slowed, surveying the rest of the area. Gone were the earthquakes and roars, the flashes of powerful ninjutsu having died along with the final sandworm. As he walked up to his colleague he grinned, not even breathing heavily from the short engagement.

"Not on your life! Not that I needed to do much - you could've left some fun for the rest of us, huh?" He chuckled and slapped the man on the back before looking over at the new canyon - and oasis, the showoff - remaining from Takeo's own fight. "I think that's everything; mission accomplished. Although..." he turned and looked back to the way he'd come, recalling the unfamiliar ninja fighting the first worm he'd passed. "We best check up on our Sunagakure comrade, just in..." he spotted the other Jounin then, standing out in the middle of the sands, having just given up chasing the now-dead worm. He turned back to Takeo and shrugged.

"Well then, I guess that's that. When all this is done, you'll be getting me drink for stealing my kill, sir. Don't forget!"

Takeo clasped the man on the shoulder, he felt solid, nearly as physically strong as Yoru if he were to guess. The Hokage chuckled lightly, he was well known for his tendency to go overboard in a fight, changing the terrain everywhere he went with grandiose use of jutsu. So too did he often overwhelm his opponents and end battles quite quickly especially when combined with his exceptional strength, speed and taijutsu prowess. There were so few opponents that could challenge the man at all that anytime he had an opportunity to fight a powerful adversary he jumped at the opportunity to practice some of his stronger techniques. The truth was in fact that several of his most deadly jutsu remained untested, having never needed to resort to such devastating power. “I’ll keep that in mind for next time, I’m sure there will be other powerful spirits. If nothing else this outbreak is a good opportunity to keep our skills sharp. Felt good to stretch out a bit” he admitted with a smile. As serious as the situation was it was also a valuable training exercise, shinobi needed to be tested constantly and reminded of the dangerous world they lived in. Peace was something to strive for certainly, but as shinobi tasked with protecting Fire Country they could never afford to become complacent.

Already the man had recovered his breathing, he was sweating slightly under his arms and across his back but that was largely because of the environment. For a shinobi of the temperate climate of Fire Country the blazing heat and unrelenting sun were difficult to adjust to. In fact, in his many months of cumulative survival training Takeo tended to prefer cold environments, one could make shelter and create a fire fairly easily and water was ever prevalent in such areas but in the desert heat and dehydration were potent obstacles. If it were not for his elemental ninjutsu even Takeo would have a difficult time surviving for weeks at a time in such conditions. He would turn slightly to take in the view of his creation. One could always tell where he did battle. He had even created his own personal canyon back in Fire Country to train in. Within the land of wind, there would now exist a new landmark, it was amazing to think that something he had created with relative ease could stand for many years, saving countless travelers and animals as they gathered at this new watering hole on their way through the desert. In time he was sure some form of plant-life would grow. If he had a Senju companion with him he could even kickstart that process. His thoughts drifted to his other former Sensei, Toshiaki. He had been intending on offering the man a position as one of his personal guard. He would make for a powerful asset along with Masuru, another of the Senju’s former students.

The Hokage was idly wondering if the Kazekage might name this Oasis after him or if it would remain an unmarked location, known only to locals. Either way, it would not go unforgotten and neither would their work in bringing down these spirits. Turning his attention towards the Sunagakure shinobi he noticed the man some distance away, seemingly unharmed. Masuru was also on his way towards the group, appearing shortly after a few last dashes of movement. “You got it! Take care of yourself in the weeks to come and give ‘em hell Sensei. I look forward to reading your mission reports and seeing what kind of trouble you get into” he stated. He would be happy to take a 15-30 minute break with his companions and even the Suna shinobi, filling their canteens in the small lake he created or even going for a quick dip to cool off but after that, it would be back to business and they would likely split off before too long.
