Koriton: Ice Clone
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user creates a clone of themselves comprised of Koriton style chakra with the user's stats. It lasts for [Control/5] posts. When it expires or is destroyed it simply melts into a puddle of harmless water.
In the dark of night, a lone figure trudged across the desert sands. Jacket crackling in the sandy gale, the figure steadily moved forward, the glow of the city slowly sinking behind her. The sand kicked up by the wind forced her to stop every once and awhile, her small form hunkering against the force and arms raising to protect her face. Despite it being the middle of the night, the clear starry sky over head lit the dunes well, allowing the figure's orange hued eyes to keep track of her path. Hibana had been walking for about an hour, her conversation with Airon still buzzing around in her head as she moved. She’d resolved herself to get stronger, but first she had to knock the cobwebs away. Most of her time lately has been spent tending to Airon and healing his injuries and she hadn't kept her ninjutsu in practice since she started following Her. It was time to change that.

In front of her, the sands began to give way to rock, a solid, flat sheet rising out from the dunes. The rock shelf was about a hundred feet across, outcroppings spread haphazardly across the surface and a solid wall of earth rising from the far side. Most shinobi could train wherever it suited them, usually taking advantage of empty lots, large fields, or if you belonged to a village, the training facilities. Hibana was different, her abilities required a specific environment; one that she could create if needed, but without letting people know she had Hyouton styled chakra abilities. That's why she came here; there was solid ground and in the middle of nowhere so no people to get in the way, everything she needed to train.

Nearly letting out a sigh of relief as her feet transitioned from the shifting sand to the sturdy rock, Hibana strode towards the center of the earthen slab, putting about forty feet between her and the nearest edge. Kneeling, she pulled her black jacket off and set it aside and rummaged through her bag before producing a few glow sticks at the bottom. She secured her jacket beneath the bag then got to her feet, the cool air biting her dark skin. The desert got rather cold at night, but her resistance to the bitter gales was higher than most around here, she was raised in frost country after all. With a snap, the six glow sticks in her hand came to life, bathing the surrounding area in a gentle green light. She tossed the light sources about, spreading them to get as much coverage as possible. The starlight was nice, but it wasn't quite enough for what she’d be doing.

Satisfied with the lighting situation, Hibana took stock of her surroundings once more before nodding. It was time to get started, but first she had to make some fuel. Raising both hands, she slowly strung together a series of handseals, her fingers struggling to remember the sequence and shapes. As she molded her chakra, a puddle of water began to form in front of her, the liquid rising and solidifying into ice before mimicking her form until she was looking into the eyes of a perfect copy of herself. With a gaze as cold and emotionless as ever, Hibana reached out and grabbed the hilt of her odachi while her double mirrored her movements. Its hand became transparent and shifted back to a liquid state before stretching out and solidifying, a copy of the girl’s sword in its reformed hand.

The two just stared at each other for several moments until Hibana suddenly winded up and slashed hard horizontally. Still copying her motions, the clone's blade met hers in the center with a sharp metallic clang, sending both of them grinding back several feet across the rock. Hibana's muscles groaned from their disuse, but that was why he was out here in the first place. Quickly recovering, she leaped forward with a wide slash, meeting the clone back where the skirmish began. She held firm against the clash this time and the two exchanged several hits, each being blocked or parried in succession until another strong hit separated them again.

This pattern repeated several times, the sounds of metal hitting metal filling the air as Hibana's muscle memory slowly started to take over. While she continued to move and strike faster, her clone stayed at the same pace. Soon enough, she started to eclipse her doppelganger, forcing it to shift completely to defense. Hibana slashed down hard with her odachi, her copy just barely getting her blade up to block. The force of the blow pushed it back, heels protesting the ground as it blocked another hit from the left. A glint in her eye, Hibana stepped hard with her left foot and grounded herself as her weapon came up from below with a slow but heavy swing. The clone blocked this as well, but now Hibana was inside her guard. She followed through with her slash, pushing the clone's arms up and out of the way. Her blade snaked in through the gap, shooting past her foe's head before twisting to the side so that the sharp edge rested against the back of the clone's neck.

She exchanged a cold glance with her copy before tightening her grip and leaping backwards. As she pulled her blade along with her, it cut into the clone's neck and caused its form to waver. The head separated from the shoulders as the steel finished its journey, both pieces instantly exploding into frozen shrapnel. Hibana slid back quickly across the stone, sweeping her blade to the side with a flourish as she came to a halt. The ice smashed into the ground, forming a decent sized frozen puddle and dotting the nearby rocks with a slight spray. Her opponent defeated, she shifted her sword to her left hand and spun it around once before burying the blade in the earth so that it stayed upright.

Koriton: Ice Missiles
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After forming a one-handed seal and stomping their foot into the ground the user is able to conjure two missiles of hard ice that immediately form in the air from the surrounding moisture. These two missiles can track targets based on heat released from enemies. When these missiles hit their target it’s with the strength of the user’s control stat. Even though it will follow a target based on heat, this jutsu can be avoided completely if the target has a higher [speed] than the casters [control].

"Not enough."

Hibana's hands came together, repeating the same string of handseals as before. Her movements were much faster and more fluid this time, her body remembering what it was capable of. Two more duplicates formed in front of her, each with a sword in hand. Rather than picking up her sword she lowered herself into a simple taijutsu stance: her left palm facing forward, running parallel with her left leg while her right arm guarded her core and her right leg stood perpendicular to her left. She steadied herself and took a breath, a wisp of white escaping as she exhaled. Ready, she gestured with her left hand and her two clones nodded, bursting towards her at speed.

They attacked in unison, one slashing vertically while the other cut across a diagonal. She slipped in between the blades, using her forward hand to grab one by the hilt and push it just high enough for her to fit through the gap. Now positioned between the two clones, she ducked under a slash from one and stepped inside the other's guard, her open palm striking its stomach. As the second recoiled from the blow, she spun around to face the first, who was still recovering from her miss, and threw a high kick. The attack connected with the flat surface of the clone's sword, causing it to stumble back a bit. Hibana took the initiative, stepping after it to keep up the pressure. A quick flurry of punches and kicks kept it on the defensive until she saw an opening. With the sword recoiling from another kick, Hibana moved in and hit the clone's chest with two quick jabs from the left before throwing an uppercut with the right. The clone stumbled back, and Hibana was about to go in for the kill when the second one appeared at her side and threw down a vertical slash.

Hibana's muscles strained as she forced them to rapidly change direction, hopping to the side just in time to avoid being cleaved in two. She danced around several strikes as the second copy followed through by going on the offensive. Soon enough, the first clone was back as well, moving in step with the second to let loose a barrage of slashes. Sidestepping a quick swing, Hibana suddenly found herself in a pincer, both blades coming from opposite sides, one low and one high. There wasn't anywhere to dodge to, both sides where covered and she couldn't just duck because of the low slash. She could only see one way out.

Clenching her teeth, Hibana move forward, one of the blades grazing her arm as she moved between the two clones again. It was only a temporary measure, now that she was here there was no way out; the two would spin and their swords would come around to cut her down before she could get clear. She had another idea in mind though. Hibana quickly formed a single seal with her left hand and stomped down with her right foot, landing squarely in the middle of the frozen puddle that her first clone had left behind. Launched into the air, the spray of water quickly coagulated into a pair of shapes, ice racing through them to solidify their form as they reached their highest point. Two frozen icicle misses hung in the air for a split second before the girl would direct them into her clones the icicles would hit their targets, stunning them briefly. A quick kick to one clone gave her all the space she needed. She ducked under a swing and swiped across the first clone's stomach with her fist, just barely missing & sidestepped an attack from the other and threw an elbow into its face before returning to the first. Koriton - One Thousand Water Needles of Death
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Description: One Thousand Water Needles of Death is a Ninjutsu technique unique to Hibana. To create the needles, the user forms the needed hand seals and then smashes their foot into the ground. The water then rises into the air and takes the form of frozen needles. These needles then come raining down on their target. The number of Senbon created varies on the rank of the user. The strength & quantity of needles is based on the following formula.

D-Rank: 200[control/6]
C-Rank: 400[control/7]

Reaching towards its gut to check for a wound with one hand, it made a weak slash that Hibana easily blocked before closing in again. A cut to the side easily severed the clone's weapon hand, causing it to explode into a mass of icy mist, then a crosscut through its chest finished it off. Not even waiting for the ice to burst and then to hit the ground, Hibana spun around to see another wild swipe by the remaining clone. She dodged to the side and pulled a kunai from her jacket pouch and swung it down down, destroying the clone's hand. Hibana lifted her sweep up and into the clone's face. As the sharp edge punctured its head, the clone exploded just like it’s partner as Hibana would cross her arms to take the brunt of the icy shrapnel.

She held her stance for a moment before bringing her arms back down to her sides. Her long blue hair hung low against her back, dripping wet and matted against her back from all the moisture in the air. Another chilled breath escaped her as she attempted to re-center herself. Blood trickled down from the cuts formed earlier in her sparring as well as from when the clones exploded. The cuts weren’t at all serious, but Hibana was convinced that it shouldn't have happened. Her night was far from over. Hibana brought up a single hand, completing a string of half-seals with ease before another ten clones appeared before her.
Hibana's arms reached up toward the dark sky, her eyes focusing on the nearest clone. All of them were at the ready, already dropped into various stances and planning out their moves. Studying the clone's defense was essentially studying her own. Every weakness or opening she saw was a fault in her own style, so she tried to keep a mental list of them so that she could work on it later. Now however, her mind was purely in the fight. She plucked the sword she set down earlier up and readied herself. The second she did so, the clones made their move, spreading out so as to not catch each other in their attacks.

The one she'd been focusing on arrived first. Hibana forced back a frown, the attack was too telegraphed, and her planned counter worked perfectly. Parrying the oncoming sword with her own, she stepped around the weapon and kicked the clone firmly in the gut, forcing it to drop its weapon. Two more foes appeared at her sides, she threw her own sword into one's chest before taking hold of the sword that she'd relieved from the first and blocking a strike from the other. The massive odachi dug into the clone's chest and stunned it for a moment, but it wasn't enough to take it down for whatever reason. Hibana blocked another attack and dodged a clone that had tried attacking from above before closing in and finishing the job. Her odachi reached around the recovering clone and she closed the distance, slashing it.

The woman snagged her odachi off the ground, just barely dodging a pair of slashes from the others. As she rolled to the side, she raised her weapon to block a downward slash and lashed out with her feet to avoid getting pinned. Flipping up onto her feet, she narrowly avoided another attack aimed where her head had been a moment before. Blocking and dodging constantly, she weaved through the crowd, she raised her to send a large slash into two clones. One burst immediately from a blow to the head, but the other stayed up, able to divert the damage to its arm. She slipped past while it recovered and took up her sword again, immediately finding herself surrounded again. Her eyes shining, she couldn't help but grin. She was starting to enjoy herself. She hasn’t fought like this in years, and she was enjoying every bit of it. Even if her foes were weaker than her, she couldn't remember the last time she had to push her body like this. It was exhilarating, her blood was flowing, and her mind was moving. The fight was something she understood, something that she was good at.

The clones started to creep inward, but a wide sweeping slash forced them back again. Hibana was going to force them to fight on her terms. They tried again and she tried to scatter them again with another slash, but one of the clones took the opportunity to leap in as the others backed off. Hibana grinned as she saw the chance she'd been waiting for. She used her sword as a vault pushing it into the rock below her, leaving it behind as she launched herself to intercept the attacker, who hadn't anticipated such a direct counter attack. Hibana reached her target before it had a chance to complete its swing, slamming into it with her shoulder before grabbing one of its arms and dragging it along with her. As she reached the peak of her jump, she cleared the circle of clones and quickly threw together a string of seals with her free hand. Chakra flowing through her, she swung her captive around and planted it beneath her feet as she hit the ground.

Exploding into a shower of icy mist it was crushed beneath her, Hibana forced her chakra through the clone's remains. She spun around to face the rest of the group, the bits of melted ice she'd knocked into the air quickly elongated into thin spikes and refroze solid. Hundreds of them formed, all hanging in the air as they formed into icy senbon. Countless little needles shinning in the green light that illuminated the slab. Hibana chuckled as she raised one of her hands in front of her face and the clones started to disperse. Not all of them were fast enough. With a snap of her fingers, the hundreds of ice shards rained down on the cluster of clones. Two of them managed to avoid it entirely and another two were just barely able to get out with a light peppering, spikes coating their deformed limbs. The last three weren't so lucky and bore the brunt of the tempest. They were torn to shreds by the storm of ice, reduced to exploding shrapnel in an instant. [Learned 1095/1000]

Koriton: Frozen Sea Armor
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After forming a single hand seal and then concentrating and forming ice around the user’s body, the user can create a durable armor of ice. This jutsu is created instantaneously. The strength is based on the user's [control].

[Flashback]
Airon pulled his sword from the last of the rogue ninja they spent the last day tracking. “Hibana, you really need to focus on protecting yourself in a fight. That ninja almost killed you just now, you let him get to close…I almost wasn’t fast enough to get to you. You can’t expend all your chakra trying to keep me from getting hurt, after all, I’m immortal remember?” Hibana looked to the ground as Airon spoke. “Listen, if we get separated in a fight, or I’m not there to help you…you’re going to need to get your hands dirty, and that means fighting but also protecting yourself. I don’t want you to get hurt.” [End of flashback]

Hibana shook the memory away that she began to daydream and quickly lowered herself back into her taijutsu stance, her eyes unfocusing so that she could keep track of all her opponents at once. ‘I’ll show you Airon, I can be strong all on my own!’ The clones recovered from her attack rather quickly and were soon upon her once again, gathering in a half circle in front of her. She had to be careful now that their numbers were down, there were few enough that they wouldn't get in each other's way anymore, allowing them to be more coordinated with their attacks. Then there was the fact that she was unarmed again. She'd have to rely on her speed to avoid damage, but would it be enough?

All four clones started at once, each coming from a different direction as they closed in on Hibana. They unleashed a flurry of slashes from every direction, forcing her to focus entirely on dodging. A dip to the left, a pivot to the right, a quick step back, then another to the right. She was fast enough to keep moving, but it wasn't sustainable. Jumping over a low swing, Hibana twisted her body to avoid another from the right, the blade tearing through the fabric of her top and nicking the flesh beneath.

She ignored the sting on the side of her chest and steadied herself in a wide stance, catching the blade with a clap that was swinging down from above. With all her strength she extended her arms as if she were going to dive in water to slow the momentum of the sword then delivered a hard punch to its wielder. As she tried to relinquish the clone of its weapon another clone would attempt to tackle her. Because one of her hands was occupied, she wouldn’t be able to defend this attack, instead she thought of using a defensive jutsu and formed a single handseal and focused her chakra near her shoulder where the clone would make contact. And icy sheet of armor would appear and take the brunt of the force as she was sent tumbling to the ground.

The world was spinning and the stone she fell upon rattled her bones as her form bounced across it. A few new cuts and scrapes littered her skin, but at least she'd gotten clear of the group. Her gaze hardened as she stared at the four, her body was finally starting to recognize its own strength again and it was time to step things up. She moved first this time, rushing towards the nearest target faster than it could attack. She entered its guard and delivered a quick combination to its chest before shoving it away with a kick. The next clone was upon her a moment later, throwing an attack at the girls mid-section. She retreated from the strike and stepped to the side, using the clone's body to block the others while she went to work.

Hibana planted her foot on her foe's chest after maneuvering around its weapon, shoving it back with a kick then chasing after it. Another step to the inside prevented a second clone from attacking as she sent a jab to her target's face followed by a hook from the other side. She could feel the clone waver as her blow landed, but it wasn't quite enough. Another clone managed to slip in as the first recoiled, forcing Hibana to change priorities. She ducked under a slash and swept with her foot, successfully knocking the clone to the ground as her kick destabilized its feet. At this rate, she'd be surrounded again, and that wasn't something that she wanted to let happen. With the gears in her head turning at full speed, her eyes scanned the battlefield until they came across the answer she'd been looking for. Rushing forward, she used the fallen clone as a springboard to dodge a second attack before landing just in front of another. She threw her body down into a slide, bending her spine back to avoid the hungry steel of her final obstacle.

As she passed through the clone's legs, her hand shot out to snag her sword she discarded earlier. With the weapon in hand, she spun around to face the clones. She rose to a crouch and her hand shot around, propelling the blade towards the center of the group. As all four of them collapsed beneath the assault, the ice exploded in a loud POP, luckily she was far enough away to avoid the damage. The weapon came to rest near a rock. [890/600]

Koriton - Advanced Ice Clone
A-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: C Ranked Ice Clone Jutsu
This is a highly advanced version of the original ice clone jutsu. Using the Ram Handsign, the user concentrates their Chakra to mold a Clone of themself made completely of ice. Because it's made up of ice, it's much more difficult to destroy by normal means. The strength of this clone is based on the caster’s [control]. However, a Katon style ninjutsu that is cast by a ninja that has a [control] stat that is within 10 of the clone jutsu caster can melt the clone completely. When the clone is destroyed it explodes with an icy concussive blast in a 1-meter radius that is ½ the strength of the user’s [control] and showers the area with a 5 meter radius of frozen shrapnel.

Hibana let herself fall back onto the ground, her chest rising and falling as she tried to catch her breath. She lay on her back, looking up at the stars while allowing herself to take a moment of respite. She was completely soaked from head to toe, sweat and water from the melted icy clones covering her skin and seeping out of the fabric of her clothes. A large puddle lay beneath her, spreading steadily across the rock face. It was anyone's guess as to whether it was because a clone fell there or simply because she was that wet. She hadn't realized it during the fight, but the braid in her hair she used while training had come undone as well, the wet strands of blue thrown about her shoulders and the ground behind her.

She stayed down until her panting subsided, taking a few minutes before lifting herself up into a sitting position. The cold desert wind bit at her as she rose, the chill quite a bit more noticeable now that she wasn't so focused. With no more enemies before her, the excited glint in her eyes had faded and they had returned to their normal cold and emotionless state. Her adrenaline had died down as well, the cut on her chest and the scrapes all over her arms starting to sting. She did her best to ignore them and calmly surveyed the area, the green glow from her light sources reflecting in her eyes. All around her the ground was covered in water and ice. Seven large puddles from the clones were scattered about, another four frozen where they stood. Finally, her sword lay about fifteen feet away, surrounded by three puddles and countless shards of ice.

This was why she couldn't do her training in villages as she tended to cause too much collateral damage with her techniques since a lot of the buildings weren't designed to handle large amounts of water and ice. She'd already transformed this area into an environment unknown to the desert, and she wasn't even finished yet. Sure, she'd managed to get her body and mind moving again, but she wasn't any stronger than when she started, her body had just remembered how it was supposed to move. Her eyes landed on the four masses of ice. She needed something stronger to fight against if she wanted to keep going. These clones were easy to make, but they were inherently weaker, each having about a fraction of her strength. Sure, they could pose a problem in large numbers, but they also started to get in each other's way. As long as she could take them down with a single solid hit, her training would have the same result no matter how many more she summoned. The only difference would be how long she had to hold out, and while that would help improve her endurance, it wasn't efficient.

No, she needed something sturdier, something that might be able to match her speed. Hibana gathered her hair up as she mused, tying it back so that it wouldn't get in the way. With a quick braid back in place, she got to her feet and gathered up her sword. Looking at the most intact of the clones had given her an idea. She'd tried it before, but it was back when she was still learning in the academy. Maybe she'd gotten good enough at controlling her chakra since then to make another attempt. She took a deep breath, her chakra mixing with the air as it filled her lungs. She held it in for a moment before exhaling hard, a cloud of ice pouring past her lips and spreading across the ground. She swiveled her head, trying to coat as much of the rock surface as possible, quickly turning the area around her into a sheet of ice several inches thick.

Hibana's more advanced abilities required a generous supply of ice, which meant that she had to make a few preparations before using them. She put together another string of half seals and started sending her chakra directly into the ice beneath her. She carefully guided it through the frozen water until it started to gather a few feet in front of her. Now came the difficult part; the chakra spread further into the ice, guiding it back to the central point and gathering it up. Slowly, the ice started to rise, her mind carefully sculpting its shape as it grew in mass. She had to gently force the chakra back into shape whenever it tried to take the path of least resistance instead, preventing the ice from being disfigured. The ice continued to gather, soon reaching to her waist, then her chest and shoulders. Focusing intently, Hibana formed the finer details, turning it from a giant hunk of ice into a humanoid shape. Its features came into form a few moments later, then color flooded through, leaving Hibana to once again stare at a copy of her own face. She hadn't been perfect though, the clone's body seemed to be much more rigid than her own. She'd have to work more on smoothing out the surface later, but for now it would meet her needs just fine.

She had it test its range of movement, doing a few stretches until she was satisfied that it'd be able to keep up. As she reached for her sword again, she realized that she'd forgotten to form a weapon for the ice clone. With a shrug she grabbed her sword and tossed it to her copy. It tilted its head as if wondering what to do for a moment before dropping into her normal combat stance. Hibana took out a pair of kunai, preparing herself for what she hoped would be a much more interesting exercise.
Stillness hung in the air for several agonizing seconds. Hibana stood at the ready, having a staring contest with her duplicate that she knew she'd lose. It was becoming obvious that the hunk of ice wouldn't make the first move, so that left it up to her. She took a tentative step forward, but the clone made no move, simply holding its stance and staring back with empty eyes. With a mental shrug, Hibana advanced at full speed to test the waters. She threw a quick slash with her right-hand blade and the clone shifted the sword to block. Even with such a simple maneuver, the difference in ability was instantly apparent. Its moves were fast, easily matching her own, and its strength was surprising, causing Hibana to recoil as her attack bounced off. Regaining her balance with a heavy step, she pushed off the ice and went right back into range. She threw another slash to the right, this time fully prepared to meet her opponent's power. As expected, the attack was blocked again, but she held her ground this time, following it with a swipe from her left hand then another from the right before using the momentum to spin about and strike again.

The clone's movements seemed completely mechanical, moving the sword precisely where it needed to be to deflect each blow, no fluidity, no extra movements, no waver in its stance at all. Her eyes narrowing, Hibana started moving faster, throwing attack after attack at her doppelganger as she tried pushing both of their speeds to the limit. The clone was matching her step for step, blocking each strike in turn while still not making any offensive actions, the constant ringing of steel filling the air. Still, As Hibana's flurry got faster and her muscles started to protest, she noticed her copy beginning to fall behind ever so slightly. The flame behind her gaze returned, even as the ice clone stared back with an ever vacant expression.

Pushing herself to the absolute limit of her speed, she threw a strong strike from the left to keep the sword busy and give her enough time to step into the narrow gap. It worked, she was just fast enough to make it through the clone's guard, giving her a chance to make one calculated move. She slammed her left handed weapon into the swords hilt just above one of her foes hands, quickly followed by the right. The second kunai wedged itself between the metal and the clone's icy grip, giving the girl all the leverage she needed. She jumped up, planting both of her feet on the clone's chest and kicking off with all the strength her legs could muster. It held firm against her, but she could hear the ice groaning in protest after a moment, its grip on the weapon slipping. (1456/1400)

Koriton – Frost Bite
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Sometimes you just need a bomb. The user gathers up a mass of ice and compresses it into the size of a baseball before charging it with their chakra. Once compressed the ball can be held and thrown. Once charged, the user can trigger the ball at will, detonating 1 second after activated. The ball explodes with the strength of the user’s [control] stat creating a 2 meter blast with frozen icy shrapnel being propelled in a 5 meter radius.

Hibana charged her legs with chakra and gave one final push, launching herself backwards off of the ice and sending the sword whirling through the air. She swung her legs over her head and back down to earth, landing with a skid on the slippery surface below. At the same time, her sword introduced itself to the rock wall on the far end of the stone slab, bouncing off harmlessly and coming to a rest about thirty feet away from the two combatants. Hibana gave a wild grin and threw herself forward again. Her opponent's weapon was gone and was wide open. As she neared and swung her arm around, the clone stood motionless with the same icy gaze, almost as if it hadn't realized it lost its weapon yet. Hibana's blade hit hard, nailing the clone right in the neck with all of the girl's momentum backing it up. There was a loud crack, like the sound of shattering glass, and a cloud of ice shards sprayed into the air.

Hibana's eyes went wide in surprise. The clone stood before her as if nothing had happened, bits of her own shattered weapon scattering. A few small pieces impaled her flesh, but she didn't notice. She clenched the broken ice in her fist, the sharp edge digging into her palm as her arm sailed past her opponent's head. She couldn't recover in time to defend herself and she knew it. "Sh-!" The counter came and cut her off mid curse, as mechanical and precise as ever. It slugged her in the right cheek, its fist as solid as rock and cold enough to send a shiver through her flesh. Her face deformed against the blow and recoiled to the side as a second punch nailed her square in the gut. The air rushed from her lungs in an icy wisp as she was sent sailing back and into a spire of rock. A surge of pain shot through her through her as she hit, the remaining kunai flying from her grip.

Hibana fell to her knees, gasping as the pain of the impact rocked her body. She could already feel her cheek starting to swell up too. She let out a broken chuckle between desperate breaths. How was she going to explain to Airon why she came back looking like hell? She hadn't been this beat up since before she'd gotten to Suna, back from a time she'd rather forget.

The sound of approaching footsteps interrupted her train of thought and she looked up to see the ice clone rushing towards her, finally taking the offensive. She mentally screamed at her body to move, scrambling to the side just in time for the clone to bury its fist into the rock that she'd landed on. A cloud of dust took to the air as the rock shuddered and creaked, toppling over a moment later as cracks shot through its structure. Hibana darted away as fast as she could force her body to move, her lungs still trying to make up for the air they'd lost. It suddenly dawned on her that she was losing. The ice clone may be slower than her, but it was physically stronger by the very nature of being made of her ice. Her physical attacks wouldn't even make a dent in it, which meant it was all up to her jutsu.

By the time the clone freed itself from the rock, Hibana had managed to get her breathing under control. Even in her battered state, her face was covered in a grin. Before her was a real challenge, and although she could simply dispel the clone at will, the crazed corner of her mind would never let her. No, she'd have to do this the hard way and adapt to the situation to the best of her abilities. The frozen mass stared at her for a moment before breaking into a sprint. Hibana spun around and ran, weaving through a few large rocks before her feet hit the ice again. She glanced over her shoulder as she ran through the frigid remains of her melted ice clones to see her pursuer rounding the corner. This was her chance. One hand reached out to the nearest chunk of ice while the other quickly threw together some handseals. The top half of the sculpture broke off as she sent her chakra through it, quickly compressing itself into a ball that fit into her palm.

Running forward just far enough to get clear of the remains, Hibana spun around and hurled the ball of ice, sending out a quick surge of chakra at the same time. It landed right in the middle of frozen forms and rolled a few feet. 3 seconds ticked by before Hibana would activate the jutsu and the ice clone had arrived in the middle of the ice field, just as the orb detonated a second later. A harsh noise cracked through the night air, like an explosion but higher pitched and mixed with the sound of glass breaking. A cloud of debris obscured Hibana's view, but she could make out little pieces of glass like shrapnel littering the ground. She stared at the thick cloud, the ringing in her ears from the blast dying down. Had that done it? The few seconds after the blast passed in slow motion, but sure enough a figure appeared at the edge of the ice cloud, striding out and quickly picking up speed again. Hibana shook her head and broke into a run again. There was barely a scratch on it, just a few impaled pieces of ice on the surface.

Hibana's mind reeled as she ran, swerving around the outcroppings that littered the stone surface in hopes of slowing her relentless pursuer. She was able to gain a bit of ground, but she never had any chance, or even the desire, of losing the clone. She just needed enough time to think. Taking her opponent head on wasn't an option, she was sure that even her sword wouldn't be able to put more than a dent in the ice, especially since the explosion had had so little effect. As the gears turned, she came up with an idea. She'd once heard about a powerful technique that someone of her bloodline developed when a traveler from Yuki was staying at the brothel. She wondered if she'd really be able to pull it off, but there was only one way to find out. [1085/1000]

Koriton - Frost Weave
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Utilizing the supernatural strength of Hyouton ice, the user can form an incredibly thin strand of ice. Though the maximum length of the thread is based on the user's rank, the thickness is decided upon when the jutsu is used. The width can range anywhere from string to rope, with the ice still maintaining its normal integrity. When made particularly thin, the crystalline structure of the ice makes it rather shape, allowing it to be used as a harder-to-see replacement for razor wire. While the ice needed for this jutsu is small enough that it can be collected from moisture in the air, a source of water or ice cuts the chakra cost in half.

Hibana slid to a halt back on the patch of ice and turned to look at the ice clone. It was about thirty feet back and closing fast. Wasting no time, Hibana dropped and put both of her hands on the ice, sending waves of chakra through the surface. As her energy reached out, the ice began to gather in five separate points in front of her, slowly rising in sharp points. She could feel her energy being focused within them as they grew, but it wasn't going as quickly as she'd hoped. By the time the spikes were two feet tall, her copy had reached her, smashing through the partially formed ice and throwing a heavy punch at her. Hibana dove to the side and picked up into a sprint again, trying to regain her distance as her foe recovered from its miss.

Even if she wanted to try using the technique, it seemed it would take time, time that her opponent wouldn't allow her. She'd need to slow it down or hold it in place somehow if this even had a chance of working. Darting past another spire, she could tell that her clone was getting tired of the chase as it ran headlong into the rock instead of going around. Since its body was harder than the stone, it smashed through like a juggernaut, a cloud of debris rising in its wake. Hibana couldn't help but shudder at the display, though it was more out of excitement than dread. She had to come up with something pretty soon, and the strength of the ice gave her an idea. With a swipe of her hand and a burst of chakra, she tried to grab the moisture from the air and draw it into a line. Her quick test worked, more or less, forming a loose length of ice that evaporated a moment later. Still, it proved the concept and that was all she needed.

She grabbed hold of a rock formation in front of her and swung herself around it to keep her speed as she changed directions, running straight towards the wall on the far side of the arena. The sound of smashing rocks behind her a moment later told her that her pursuer was right on her tail. Her smile widened, it certainly had a one track mind, but then again she did at times as well. She ducked down to snatch her sword as she passed and kept running straight toward the wall. As she reached it, she charged her feet with chakra and stepped onto the vertical surface, still moving at a run. She got fifteen feet up before her clone neared. A hard push with both of her feet and she was airborne, falling back towards her target. A quick string of one handed seals and her chakra spread to the air again, gathering up as much moisture as possible and forming it into the shape of a rope that trailed from her hand for nearly thirty feet.

With a pulse of chakra she froze one end of the rope to her sword before hurling it at her clone, which had long since stopped bothering to defend itself from attacks that couldn't even hurt it. Still, the force behind the throw combined with the weight of the sword were enough to pierce its shell, the blade digging into its shoulder and forcing it back a few paces. Hibana came down on it a moment later, her feet hitting the swords hiltjust long enough for her to shove off in the other direction, keeping the clone off balance just long enough. Flying back a few feet, Hibana charged her body with chakra and suddenly changed her momentum sideways, an image of herself still sailing backwards as she moved. Her feet hit the ground and she stepped again, then again. Two more shadows of herself appeared as she completed her circuit, the rope that she'd attached to the sword now binding it to the her copy. She flashed about, leaving behind five more images as she added two more layers, moving around a nearby rock to use as an anchor.

Hibana pulled the rope taught with all her strength, dragging the clone to rest against the side of the rock, its arms pressed against its sides. Her copy just looked at her as she held the rope tight and reached for a kunai to anchor the other side of the rope with. No sooner had she retrieved the blade when her foe started moving again. The ropes strained against it, their hard edges cutting into the surface slightly as it struggled. Hibana took a step back and pulled on the rope, but it was no use. A moment later, it threw up its arms and the rope gave way, completely shattering and dissolving into the desert wind. 812/600

Koriton: Chains of Yuki Onna
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
The user sends their chakra through a source of ice or water, using its properties to form a length of chain made of sturdy ice. The nature of Hyouton ice makes it incredibly sturdy, requiring an attack of the user's [control] or higher or a Katon technique <5 of the user's control. The chain can be used as a utility or as a weapon, either way the user's chakra gives them a degree of control over it, allowing the user to arc its path or even bounce it off of surfaces with a miniscule chakra expenditure.

Hibana took a hesitant step back, wondering if she had the means slow this thing down. The clone glared at her in annoyance, its expressionless mask leaving it for the first time since it formed. Hibana smirked, a feral gleam in her eyes. She just wanted to tear it apart, but the logical center of her brain was still partially in control. She knew she'd have to keep it still, which means she'd just have to make stronger bonds that it couldn't break through. The grooves that had formed against its arms meant that she had at least gotten close and for her, that was good.

Now that it was free again, the clone glanced around at the various shadows that Hibana had formed, the annoyance quickly fading away from its face. Its arm reached forward and took hold of the hilt of the Sword that was stuck in its shoulder. With a hard tug it freed the weapon and held it out to the side in one hand. She took another step away, but her back was to a wall, she couldn't run. She wasn’t in a great position, she knew it, her clone knew it. It was only a matter of time before the clone would close in.

The ice clone suddenly leaped forward with a slash, forcing Hibana to jump back and press herself against the rock surface. It advanced again and cut vertically, causing Hibana to dodge to the side as the blade grinded against the stone to her left. A low sweep was countered with a short hop, a diagonal cut with a duck to the side, and an uppercut with another sidestep. The clone started slashing wildly and erratically, occasionally catching itself with the edge of the blade as it swung. All the girl could do was keep dodging as best as she could. If she could last long enough, she was sure there would be an opening eventually. Nicks and cuts began to accumulate as she did her best with the limited space she had, her shirt and pants decorated with tears and splotches of red. A wild slash caught her hair and tore it out of its braid, causing it to tumble over her shoulders again.

Eventually the moment did come, the clone put more strength than usual into a low slash and the blade hung longer than it should have while Hibana jumped over it. Seeing her opening, she swung her feet around against the wall and charged her legs with chakra as she launched off it. She collided with her opponent at full speed, tackling the ice mass to the ground before flipping up onto her hands and rolling past. The impact had rattled her bones, but her mind was too busy to take notice of the damage. It already had a plan formed, and the first step was to make some more ice.

She charged chakra into her lungs and breathed out another stream of cold air, covering the ground in front of her with thick ice as she ran back towards where the battle started. Moving at full speed, she managed to make it back before she ran out of breath, connecting her swathe to the main ice patch. She spun around to see her clone had already gotten to its feet and was on the way, but that suited her just fine. Throwing together a string of handseals, she waited until the clone had reached the ice before sending her chakra through it. Her energy raced down, condensing and hardening the ice into a pair of thick chains that erupted from the surface, one in each of her hands and each about fifteen feet long. She could feel her chakra coursing through them, confident that they'd be strong enough to hold her opponent back.

As soon as the clone was in range, she lashed out, arcing the chain around its forward leg. Her chakra guided the chain, making it wrap around twice and tighten before she dug her heels in and pulled. The grapple tugged the clone's leg out and made it lose footing on the slippery surface, falling onto its back as its momentum continued to carry it forward. The second chain shot out and grabbed the Sword, ripping it from the construct's weakened grip with little trouble. Bringing itself to a halt, the clone grabbed hold of the chain around its leg with both hands and pulled back, forcing Hibana into a tug of war that she wouldn't be able to win. She tried to hold it back, but her opponent naturally had better traction than her on the frozen surface. Her feet grinded against the ice as she desperately tried to keep her footing, but it wasn't working.

The clone reeled her in inch by inch until they were only about eight feet apart. Hibana's feet found a rock to brace against, but the clone had already managed to climb back to its feet and the rock wasn't big enough to last long. She took a gamble, letting go with one hand so that she could make an attack with the other. The second chain came around at the clone's head in a wide swing, the Sword still attached to the end. The chain made contact at about half length and started wrapping around her foe's head, each pass obscuring its vision and increasing the velocity of the mass at the end. The weapon slammed into the clone's head at full speed and stunned it momentarily with blunt force, the blow weakening its grip to the point where Hibana could retract her chain.

Climbing to her feet, the girl drew her other chain back as well, throwing her Sword to the side so that it was out of reach of either of them. The links of ice wrapped around her arms, still having enough length left over to form a pile at her feet. She looked at her foe with a wicked smile as it recovered from her attack. It was time to end this. [1011/1000]
