Michi was back in the field with Maido, unsure of what the superiors saw in him to keep assigning him these missions in foreign lands. Once again he had been told to visit a minor country and bring it to heel with the aid of the bannin. After his last mission with her, he was glad to be doing something a bit more tame. Even if he had thought that the last time too. After the annexation of Spirit's Nest, whoever had survived had made for the Holy Lands of Forest and it seemed supplies were running low even there.
Several did border patrols had reported seeing stragglers passing into Earth Country in search of game before trekking back across the border. Easily distinguishable as civilians, the patrols had just kept tabs on their movements. Based on those tabs, they were getting more desperate for food and now it had turned into enough of a thing to warrant sending some shinobi out. Tsushima had been their last stop and Michi was keen to grab more than enough supplies for the two of them just in case. Besides that, he had acquired several scrolls filled with food supplies for any camps in an attempt to persuade them. They set out from Tsushima and crossed into the Holy Land of Forests soon after, the land being extremely similar to Earth Country. Michi's gaze swept across the snow covered forest as he tried to find any signs of life besides themselves. There had been five reported camps that they'd need to bring over to their side and with Maido's ability to control others, Michi figured this wouldn't be too difficult.

It had been a while since Maido had set out with Michi. Last time, there was a right proper hunting party to them, but today their numbers were much smaller. Michi, Maido, Hisayo, Kayoko, and Substiwolf stalked through the snow, and Maido most of all found it the most pleasant of journeys. She did so love the snow, oddly, unlike most others that she associated with. The cold, damp, harsh and shrill bleakness of winter's blight was music to Maido's dark soul. Still, Hisayo and Kayoko too had grown more used to the snow now that the two of them had ascended, though they had still dressed for the occasion.

If things turned sour, Maido would surely intervene, but for the most part, she sensed that Hisayo, Michi, and Kayoko, collectively, would be more than capable of handling it. As such, Maido took to scouting ahead, invisibly leaving the group behind and strolling out and about, flying about the area however she so pleased. She checked in every once in a while, and eventually she spotted the first of the areas they were meant to touch base with.
Maido returned to the group, and to expedite the journey just a little, she began channeling chakra, and mists of chiton blew outwards from her palms, blasting itself forcefully into Hisayo, Kayoko, and Michi's lungs. A moment later, the three of them began to float, and ripples of Maido's cloak shot outwards and grabbed at the three of them as Maido began to spin around in a clockwise fashion. Now, her cloak had what was very clearly three arms fashioned out of it, holding onto each of the three of them and spinning around with Maido as she channeled chakra.
She began to spin faster, and the four of them were launched suddenly across the horizon, causing clouds of blood mist to shoot off in a large area behind them, immediately encroaching wider as they travelled and completely obscuring their movements.

As the group trekked through the forest of Earth Country and crossed into the Holy Land of Forests, Michi noticed Maido disappear and leave the group to their own devices. They continued through the snowy terrain with ease, their boots crunching upon fresh snow and scaring away any animals. He wasn't trying to hide his presence but rather telegraph it for anyone who would stumble upon them. In his mind, he was sure this would be a slow mission that'd take days to finish if he was going to play it nice. The idea, however, was ripped from his mind and destroyed as Maido came back and infused them with blood mist.
'Ah shit, here we go again.' Michi thought to himself as Maido continued and wrapped tendrils around the three of them. Prepping himself for whatever came next, Maido turned into a human-twister before flinging all three of them deeper into Forest Country. Michi was barely able to correct his positioning as he was launched and noticed blood mist coming from them as well. He could only hope this wasn't similar to the acidic variant he had seen her use previously; the only thing in Forest was refugees. Killing them was their last resort but if it meant Earth Country took control over this country too...it was what it was.

Maido broke her invisibility for a second and landed in front of Michi, and tried to speak only loudly enough for him to hear her, though Hisayo wound up hearing the full conversation anyway. Kayoko didn't hear her and paid no real mind as she transformed into a claymore and began to fly through the air towards Michi, then hover around him in orbit, having become a meter long. "I'm quite agitated today, as it turns out, so, I am not sure how useful I am truly going to be. I will admit, my brain is in a bit of a fog ever since..." Her voice trailed off as she had realized Kayoko was growing closer and she stopped speaking of it and put a singular hand to her mouth and signed "Thank you." And turned away from the other two.

"Well, this is supposed to be a non-combat missions so you shouldn't have to worry about exerting yourself like the last time with Yggdrasil." Michi reassured the blood witch as she stepped in front of him and her face grew close to his. The last mission the two had been on together had turned into a massive battle which had changed the very landscape of the country formerly known as Spirit's Nest. Maru had joined them on then but now the bannin was the leader on the Honmaru and a bit more busy at home. Even so, Michi felt comfortable with the company provided.
Maido drew away from them as Kayoko in her weapon form drew near and his continued on with Hisayo on foot. His brow furrowed at the cheeky question and an exaggerated frown overtook his face. "I was barely a special jounin, of course I'd get beat up getting dragged into a fight against a mountain-sized tree. Last thing I wanted was to get turned into a bloody stain on the floor like those poor bastards who were trying to live there did..." Michi shuddered a little bit at the thought of the small group of people who had lived there being crushed like a mosquito under the roots of the possessed Yggdrasil. Kayoko floated around them here and there and Michi raised an eyebrow at her antics as they walked.
"No, I'm not a sword person. Plus, walking into a refugee camp wielding a weapon may not get the job done. We're supposed to convince them to join us, not enslave them." Michi answered as the trees began to thin out before giving way to a larger clearing. Small yurts had been constructed in it and a barely smoldering fire continued to burn in the center. Several people were meandering through the space, going about the start of their day. Their attention shifted to them after the group stepped from the trees and into the clearing.
Michi looked around, trying to find some sort of leadership figure. His lime green eyes carefully scanned the scene as the people stopped what they were doing and he looked at their faces. There was only about 10 people in total in this camp and at least half of them were scared and ready to bolt. The war had shaken them and the village symbol upon Michi's belt did little to quell any fears. He saw a small child run into the largest of the yurts and waited until the flap was thrown open. A large man wrapped in leathers and furs stepped from it out into the cold of the forest. His black hair and beard were braided and decorated with various beads and baubles which clinked as he stepped towards them with the large-bladed hatchet on his hip rustling against the leathers.
"What do you want, shinobi?" The man, Torsten, asked, obvious tiredness in his voice. He had been the one in charge of this faction of refugees since the war had ended and had barely been able to keep them safe from the elements. Now shinobi showed up and once more his worries came back full force.
"It's pretty simple." Michi started as Torsten came to a stop in front of them. "Our border scouts have noticed people from this group sneaking into Earth Country for supplies or to chase game."
"So...you'd like us to stop under threat of force?" The man growled out, his lips pulling back into a snarl and his hand drifting to the haft of the hatchet. How greedy could these damn shinobi be? To come to slaughter them just for chasing some deer?
"No. If anything, we'd like your group to join us." Michi replied, a bored look on his face as the man began to get aggressive. He could understand why and hoped that if they continued to talk, they wouldn't have to come to blows.
"Join you or be enslaved by you?" Torsten continued on, his fingers wrapping around the haft in preparation. "There is quite the difference and Earth Country forces are known for one thing."
"I understand. Earth Country samurai are infamous for...'conscripting' natives of other nations. However, we're Iwagakure shinobi. To you, there may not be a difference but we try our best not to enslave anyone. Enough of that gets done without our aid. So, once more. We'd like you to join us."
"And if we don't?" Torsten asked, the tension rising even higher. He didn't trust the goat-eyed man in front of him and the sheer feeling of terror he got from the women were more than enough to paralyze him into not making the first move.
"Then we'll be forced to enslave or eliminate you. Earth Country has its eyes on the country itself, they figure having the population join us is better than wiping them out and incentivizing others to develop the land. You don't even have to move from this spot, say yes and you'll be mostly left alone." Michi explained, his eyes boring into the bearded man's own.
"Mostly left alone?" Torsten asked, his voice a low growl. Of course there were conditions.
"You see, every village in Earth Country, no matter how large or small, has the eldest son conscripted into the samurai brigade for 2 years after they turn 16. Once their 2 years are up, they are free to return home or stay. This would go for yours as well. Otherwise, supply drops would be the only other time you'd be bothered." Michi went on, laying out the outline for military service within Earth Country. He could see the gears in Torsten's head moving and waited silently as the big man thought it over.

His grip on his axe tightened as he thought it over, wrestling with the pros and cons in his head. Either enslavement and annihilation or...join Earth Country. With a loud huff and curse, his grip on his axe loosened and his hand fell back to his side.
"Fine. I, Torsten leader of this camp, accept these terms." The black bearded man fell to one knee and bowed his head in a show of loyalty. Michi nodded and reached out to place a hand on his shoulder.
"Rise. Tell me what you need and we shall send for it." The green eyed Fukusha spoke as the man once more stood on his feet. The next few hours of their mission flew by as if a whirlwind. Torsten took Michi throughout the camp and highlighted exactly what they needed and how much. Clothes, food, shelter. They needed a little bit of everything. Once satisfied, Michi and the group left the camp to continue their search for the remaining inhabitants.

It was lovely, truly, that Maido didn't need to do much today. In that, she decided to hibernate, and tucked herself away, shifting her form into that of a wolf and beginning to just silently meditate around Michi's feet. She took another step then and her body melted away, loose chiton chakra slowly oozing outwards as she began to transition back into cloak form and encompass Michi. A tendril would embed into the back of his neck, and he would begin to hear Maido's thoughts as her inner half manifested within his field of vision.
"This is the first time Maido has been properly inside of you, so, listen up." The projection of Maido said to him. "No one else can see or hear me, only you. I am the darker manifestation of Maido's thoughts and habits. I am not quiet. I am not subtle. I can be annoying as hell to you or I can be extra eyes and ears. I can counsel you and make your life much easier, or I can be more irritating than the most obnoxious poison." The projection of Maido drew quiet then as Michi and the other's conversed.
"Maido has been through a lot, her last hunting mission aged her several hundred years even though she was only gone for a week. In the time since you last saw her, she has died at least ten times and lived five hundred years. She may not want to be provoked here." The projection said to Michi before disappearing entirely.
Maido's actual voice came then, emanating from Michi's chest, but loud enough for everyone around to hear.
"I will not enslave you, for I do not believe in using my powers on those that cannot even hope of fighting back... but... It would make my life a lot easier if I didn't have to lord over the lot of you like the sheep you truly are. He felt the expression of Maido connect to his own blood and air hissed softly from between his teeth. Yeah, that was definitely a weird sensation. There were people who did this frequently? Michi's mind could only imagine the freaks who looked forward to the sensation. Even the cloak now sitting on his shoulders felt weird; almost jelly-like in texture. The apparition of Maido forming in his field of view was the least expected feature of the cloak.
'One hell of a way to get someone to cooperate. Guess it works for you though.' Michi thought, expecting the mental projection to be able to pick up on it. The camp leader and Michi walked and talked about other camps located in the region and how best to get to them. One of them was closer than the others while the remaining three were on the other side of the country. They'd heard rumblings of fighting coming from the other side of the country and weren't sure if they were even still alive. He filed the information away for later but thanked them as the group made their way from the camp and to the nearest subsequent one.
Their trek through the forest started out slow. Animals scattered and ran as they approached and the fact animals were even around was enough to put the jounin at ease for now. Lingering inside of Michi, Maido channeled her chakra. As they set out for their journey, her chakra extended far and wide, permeating the air and infiltrating the lungs of the entire traveling force, by force. Maido forced her chakra into their lungs, holding their breath wasn't even really an option. It seeped in and immediately exhilarated everyone around her. They were faster, stronger, and some of them even claimed that they felt smarter, though she knew it was just a side effect. Maido was a drug and a poison, and those that had been sceptical before were immediately swayed to the cause.
Maido's inner half manifested itself to Michi's right, sitting on a tree branch and swinging its legs quite childishly. "It was Shio. He caught her in some sort of genjutsu where he could control the passing of time and did a real number on her. I don't think she'll ever be the same. The lifetimes we lived that day, the experiences we gained...I'm very confident she now knows the layout of Sunagakure like the back of her hand." The projection said to Michi. "If it was accurate then I do, but I wouldn't trust it." Maido said in response from within Michi's chest.
Maido's arms and hands materialized from Michi's shoulder blades and came together in front of him to perform a lightning fast series of hand seals. Her sensory chakra exited outwards, reaching out far and wide across the horizon. "We are not alone." She said loudly, and the projection of her better half vanished from Michi's field of view. Maido did another series of hand seals, then brought her palms towards the sky, causing the pack of wolves to be lifted into the air as red tendrils shot out of Michi's back and pierced into the wolves bodies. Though there were certainly more than twelve wolves, Maido had specifically targeted twelve of them, and chose her targets specifically in such a manner as to disrupt the wolves but splitting them apart from each other.
She adjusted her jutsu, and the wolves she had pierced were lifted into the air and violently flung in Michi's direction. They crashed and landed about, snarling and barking and whining and wimpering as their bodies were wracked with the horrible sensation of being manipulated against their wills. Maido moved her hands, the tendrils reacted, and the wolves were flung into the air. She then slammed her palms down, and the wolves were violently smashed into the ground below, knocking most of the twelve of them out immediately, and killing a few of them outright with blunt force.

If entering a body of blood mist, they will be able to sense chakra sources within that mist up to 200 meters away from them, but only be able to pinpoint specific sources up to 100 meters away from their person. However, if a target has had their blood infused(and is currently still infused) by any of the user's techniques, the user will be able to pinpoint their exact location up to 200 meters away, regardless of whether or not they are inside of a body of blood mist. At this level of technique, the jutsu will be very exact in its information that is relayed to the user. Size, shape, speed, precise movements, utilization of chakra, it will all be fed into the user's mind's eye. Maintaining this technique incurs a -5 to the users instinct stat but they may move freely and act unhindered by the feedback of information so long as they still have at least 30 instinct following the debuff. Utilizing this technique will instantly penetrate the target(s) with 1.5 gallons of Maido's blood.

The moment Maido's arms manifested from his body, Michi's eyes swirled and transformed from their usual lime green to a deep purple as his Tsuyoi Shōgō-zumi came to life. Immediately it copied the first jutsu she finished the hand seals for and then copied the second set as well even as tendrils of blood burst from his body. He flinched as he felt his blood be forced to exit his body and shivered when they tendrils returned. Gods, it felt weird. However, Maido had finished the job almost immediately. The wolves had been pierced through and then smashed to death with sufficient force. Those who had survived the onslaught were quick to turn tail and off with fearful yips trailing them.
'Shio? Isn't that the kid from Kiri who took over Iron during the war? Yeah, that'd make sense. That's quite a genjutsu, wish I could've seen him do it.' Michi continued as they travelled past the blood stains formerly known as wolves. 'Suna itself is barely worth it anyway. Any resource they have, we probably have better with the mountains. There's other places in Wind Country definitely worth more.'
Considering the growing danger, Michi opted to keep his eyes active as they continued towards the next tribe of people. A bad feeling was beginning to form in the pit of his stomach as they grew closer to the camp. His suspicions were only confirmed when they arrived and found the entire camp slaughtered. Half eaten bodies were strewn about the area and the tents were torn. The fire pits were long cold and the blood spilled was nearly brown. Whatever had happened here had happened quite a while ago. Michi let loose a dissatisfied 'tsk' before he began to search through the camp for any survivors although he doubted he would find any. If anyone did survive, they'd be long gone by now. Once his search confirmed there were no others, he stopped with a big sigh.
Michi dug around in his supply pouch for a moment before withdrawing a map of the country. They had found one of them and another had been destroyed by...something. Probably the previous pack of wolves if he had to guess. There were three others to the east and their last targets. He put the map away before making way for the closest of the three camps. The animals continued to keep silent as they travelled now and Michi was on the lookout his himself after the run in with the wolves. Something else was in these woods and he was sure they'd run into it just based on his poor luck alone.
Once more he was proven right as minor tremors could begin to be felt. Michi came to a stop as the tremors continued and the sound of trees cracking began to fill the air. Through the trees, a large dark green, scaled mass could be seen wading perpendicular to them, easily 10m tall. As it grew closer, Michi was able to confirm it as an abnormally large Tyrant Lizard. It would definitely fit the destruction they had seen at the camp. He kept still as it continued to pass by them, not really sure if anyone was keen to fight something like it at the moment.

The Lizard Tyrant entered her sensory range and Maido immediately began to laugh. She stifled it just as quickly, then apologies within Michi's mind as her other half manifested in his field of view, sitting amongst the rubble of the slaughtered small village. "We may be able to navigate wind country without a map now, if we can keep her memories in tact long enough." It said to Michi as it lazily gazed about the half-eaten bodies. "This kinda looks like Maido was here already, does it not?" It continued to him, before laughing manicly and disappearing from sight, turning into a fake plume of mist before disappearing entirely from his vision.
Maido's arms shot out of Michi's left leg, awkwardly sticking out next to him and bringing their own hands together to perform a quick series of hand seals resulting in the summoning of Yggdramasil, avatar of the great tree. It came without warning, it came with great force, it appeared from the ground, spiraling upwards and destroying the vicinity around the Tyrant Lizard, and trapping it in one of its many rooms. Maido and Yggdramasil began to channel chakra simultaneously, and a red tendril shot outwards from Michi's left hand towards the tree as parts of the tree began to, very noticeably rotate, shuffling about the contents inside and sending them around the room, tossing them all about the room and flipping said room around to toss the Tyrant Lizard around in every conceivable direction until it was, well, quite properly agitated and pissed off.
The rooms would stop moving and the red tendril would grab the Tyrant Lizard by it's entire head and face, plucking it out of the room through the window before launching it outwards high into the air and releasing the tendrils own hold on its face. "Perhaps, but I need to test its durability before I decide whether or not it's worth keeping in my collection." Hisayo shrugged in response to Maido's explanation and watched to see whether or not the lizard was survive a fifty meter fall onto Yggdramasil's Mokuton branches below.

Yggdramasil will channel and then spin one of its floors, violently flinging its inhabitants out of the room as the entire room fills with mokuton leaving no space left to go except to leave or be crushed by the outer walls of Yggdrasil. The room fills at control speed and strength, striking and squishing anything trapped inside and launching those otherwise in it to outside.

Maido's arms shot out of Michi's left leg, awkwardly sticking out next to him and bringing their own hands together to perform a quick series of hand seals resulting in the summoning of Yggdramasil, avatar of the great tree. It came without warning, it came with great force, it appeared from the ground, spiraling upwards and destroying the vicinity around the Tyrant Lizard, and trapping it in one of its many rooms. Maido and Yggdramasil began to channel chakra simultaneously, and a red tendril shot outwards from Michi's left hand towards the tree as parts of the tree began to, very noticeably rotate, shuffling about the contents inside and sending them around the room, tossing them all about the room and flipping said room around to toss the Tyrant Lizard around in every conceivable direction until it was, well, quite properly agitated and pissed off.
The rooms would stop moving and the red tendril would grab the Tyrant Lizard by it's entire head and face, plucking it out of the room through the window before launching it outwards high into the air and releasing the tendrils own hold on its face. The tyrant lizard was thoroughly confused when it was contained in a massive wooden room out of nowhere and then thrown about as if it was a leaf in a hurricane. It tried to plant it feet or grab a hold of something within the room but was unable to due to the constantly shifting insides. It roared in anger but was cut off when a bloody tendril found its face and then yanked it up and out of the room high into the air. It flailed within the empty space and continued to roar in agitation before finally gravity played its part and it fell like a meteorite onto the massive wooden spikes below. The sturdy wooden spikes of the tree spirit were more than enough to pierce through its rocky hide in combination with the height that it had been left to fall from in addition to its own weight. The gigantic lizard flailed helplessly on the spikes and only worsened its wounds before finally falling still.
"Well, I guess that takes care of that." He said with a confused look on his face while his eyes recorded the jutsu that had flowed from Maido but were cast out of his own body. If the information of Wind Country and Suns were correct, they'd be quite the boon. However, the fact the information was born out of a Genjutsu gave him cause to believe it wouldn't be. Combined that with the notion it was placed on her by a foreign leader of a nation within their own, he was worried it could even be a trap. He filed it away for later as the group would continue their trek to another small settlement, barely more than a camp.
Once more they would find no one but rather than bloodshed it looked as if they had been marched away. Belongings were left and tents were still up but a large swath of footprints led away from the area. Deciding to follow them for as long as they could before the trail was lost, it was easy to see where they had gone or been taken. They would come to a small cliff that overlooked a valley. Within the valley a larger settlement had been organized and people could be seen moving about. Some were in chains and being ordered to specific tasks while others carried whips or other weapons to make sure that those in chains listened. Michi had been sure there were no Earth Country sanctified slaving operations within the country, at least not yet, so whoever was running this was definitely independent.
As his eyes scanned over the settlement, the largest tent's flap was thrown open and a gaggle of leather armored men exited from it. It was thrown open once more and a large man in more elaborate armor exited and began barking orders. Michi strained his hearing and was able to catch some of what the man was saying.
"Get ready to move west to take the rest of the lands! The east and north are already ours and any survivors are to be taken!"
Michi pondered his options for a moment before turning to the others. "One big jackass, couple smaller jackasses. Try not to kill the slaves, we'll be needing them after."

Maido suddenly exited out of Michi's body, turning herself into a body of chiton mist and exiting outwards from his nostrils, the wisps of red mist flowing outwards and travelling a few paces away in a rather thick cloud, before growing even thicker and then finally turning from particulate mist into solid liquid, then into just regular Maido herself. Walking up to the now still Tyrant Lizard, Maido carefully examined it and dabbled with the idea of whether or not she should collect its carcass for later. She thought for a long moment, staring at the downed lizard as she dismissed Yggdramasil away with a wave of her hand. It vanished in a poof of smoke, leaving a large crater behind where it had once stood. Hisayo and Kayoko watched their older cousin as she examined the body of the great lizard, not really knowing what Maido was up to. "What is it Maido?" Hisayo asked her curiously.
"I think I'm going to to turn it into a puppet, or maybe stick a spirit inside of it and animate its corpse anyway." She said after a long moment of careful consideration. She performed hand seals, and summoned Substiwolf to her side, then gestured at the downed beast. "Take that home please and preserve the body, I wish to examine it later." Substiwolf nodded, then with incredible difficulty, lifted one of the limbs of the beast over its own shoulders, then slid underneath the lizard, crawling on all fours carefully and hoisted the body upwards before the both of them disappeared from sight entirely in a poof of smoke. "So useful." Maido said before turning herself into a red mist again and floating towards Michi. She didn't enter into his body this time, instead she just hung around him, like an aura that secreted from his body. Maido's chiton mist form merely followed Michi's presence, sticking to him at all times and never leaving. A single tendril reached out from the center of the mist, where it was the thickest, and attached to Michi though, granting Maido's cloak to him as they left the scene and found a rather pillaged looking area.
Maido extended the range of her sensory technique, checking around for other sources of life, and immediately her attention snapped to a large tent. "Hisayo why don't you take out the big one if you can?" Maido suggested with a laugh, to which Hisayo smiled. "Finally." Kayoko threw a needle and turned invisible immediately, then channeled chakra to transform into an incredibly long claymore, then set herself on fire. She had been itching for combat for a while. Hisayo however did not turn invisible, and just held Kayoko in such a way that it would appear to even the most trained of eyes that Hisayo was completely unarmed. She lead the way, walking ahead of the group of them and actively taunting the pillagers. "I have it on good authority that there's a few jackasses here, that wouldn't happen to be you would it?" She said with a cheeky grin, sizing up the lot of them and paying absolutely no attention to whether or not the rest of her party was backing her up.

Most of the men didn't even realize they were they until they spoke and immediately lewd cheers and jeers erupted from them. The jounin shook his head as the scene devolved into carnage as they got to work taking out the men filling the camp. The poor bastard who ran it was able to block only a single blow before meeting his end at their hands. Once the camp was clear of the bandits, Michi moved from his perch and entered the camp. As he did so, he released the binding of each of the people he walked past with a quick slash of a kunai. Some of them fled back into the woods while others stood around and tended to the wounds with the supplies in the camp.
Michi looked around and hummed to himself as he thought. Although used to enslave the remaining large populaces of the country, the foundation of the camp was solid and able to be modified and built upon. Nodding to himself, Michi decided they would make headquarters here and send word back to Iwa for any aid they could spare to help the people and to help them build an actual headquarters here in the Holy Lands of Forests. Combined with the other camp they had secured as allies in the west, Michi was confident the region was theirs for the future.
