[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Dual » Fri May 02, 2025 10:03 am

A gong rang and the crowd fell silent. The lanterns around the Drowning Circle hissed and guttered in the sea breeze. The firelight flickers on the faces of the combatants entering the arena: a circular elevated platform of smooth stone approximately ten meters in diameter.

“Ladies and Gentleman, for our first round…” a herald announced, the gong booming behind him once more. “The Crescent Coalition’s Scorpion, Jinsoku Enzaragi! And his opponent, the Fear Monger, the Second Sword of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist… Shiimu Kozan!!”

The combatants space themselves five meters apart, centered around the Whirlpool sigil, facing each other. Both have been informed of tournament rules and are encouraged to show respect and sportsmanship.

“Begin!”

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Ace Trainer » Fri May 02, 2025 3:48 pm

Kozan strode into the arena to his position, he was adorn in his normal equipment, his upper body coated in armor from stomach down to the gauntlets on his hands, the flak jacket over them, and the pauldron from the Seven Swordsmen adorning his shoulder. He did not have his mask equipped, instead walking to the arena with his face showing. His eyes remained locked onto Enzaragi as he took his position, staring at him apathetically as the announcement was made. Kozan had a long list of titles the announcer could have chosen, none of them mattered. His choice to announce him as a Swordsman of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist caused Kozan to roll his fingers, guess that meant he was utilizing the Samehada in this fight.

Reaching up, he would place his hand on the hilt of the Samehada attached to the holder on his back. The small skull at the base of the hilt leaned against the side of his palm as his fingers flexed around it. He stared at Enzaragi carefully, he knew the name - he was sure that the man had been killed by Konoha based on reports, yet here he stood. Interesting, informative even still.

The call to begin came and Kozan's went into action. The distance between them as nothing, a mere five meters. The ring itself was also small. In a normal tournament, Kozan would have filled the space with tendrils and forced his opponent out of the ring with ease. But this was not quite an option for him, and instead Kozan would lunge forward, taking the stance trained to the Head Hunters, and swinging the Samehade from behind him in a long arc at Enzaragi with all his strength, aiming to force his opponent backwards or to take a strike right away. This would be a good assessment to determine of his opponent would be able to even perceive the movements in this way - if he couldn't Kozan would have a big advantage. without the use of ninjutsu, Kozan would need every advantage he could find.

With his free hand, he'd reach down to his weaponry pouch, preparing for whatever would need to come next.

[Blurred Movement]
S-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Having undertaken intensive training sessions to drill the body into extreme high speed movement, the user has mastered a method of moving and fighting which makes their motions highly confusing to an opponent. This causes the user's movements and attacks to become extremely blurred and impossible to see or follow for anyone without a visual perception technique of equal or higher rank. Even those with such a technique will find it harder to determine the user's attack patterns or where they are aiming to strike.

*[Iaido • Last Breath]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The most iconic (and most basic) strike of Iaido, the practitioner quickly draws and cuts with their blade in a wide arc in one fluid motion. This simultaneous draw and attack straight from the scabbard makes Iaido well-suited for an initial surprise attack and for taking advantage of openings presented by the opponent.

*[Iaido • Ancestral Focus]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The hallmark of Iaido is its practitioners abilities to launch an attack even when their swords are sheathed. This Discipline represents the practitioner's capacity to consistently execute a sword draw and slash all in one movement by gripping the edge of the scabbard and pulling the scabbard slightly forward before drawing the sword. This Discipline enables the practitioner to immediately draw their sword and attack at the start of combat.

Prerequisite(s): 15 Strength, 25 Speed, *[Iaido • Ancestral Visage].
In order for Iaido to stand toe to toe with a variety of high-level opponents, refining fundamentals to a new height is necessary. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to more quickly accelerate to max movement speed and decelerate to a full stop at a moment's notice. [Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Mre-face » Fri May 02, 2025 5:01 pm

It had been sometime since Enzaragi had fought, let alone in a tournament. His showings weren't best unfortunately but this was a time to prove himself if he could come out this victorious then this proved that he was still a worthy protect of his country and his ideals. Enzaragi's outfit was standard issue wearing his white setsuzoku cloak and lunar lorica chest armor, they would like not lend themselves useful for this fight but they still had their use.

As soon as he entered the arena a smirk grew on his face he had been quite serious as of late but his personality as a bit of a cocky brat showed. He would enter with a flare before getting himself ready for the coming fight.

The man infront of him Kozan "The Fear mongerer" "The Dread bannin" terrifying names for a terrifying man. When witnessed in person one would understand why he got that name. 6'8 and 310 and muscular. The man was a beast for sure. Looking more akin to something out of a horror story than human. And now Enzaragi could get a chance to see why he was so feared.

"BEGIN!" phpBB [video]
The giant swordsmen wasted no time to move in with aggression, his movement would be blurred for lesser fighter but Enzaragi was a master of taijutsu and could easily see his movement and not only that but also the man he was fighting was a bit slower. 'Theta state' was already entered as soon as the fight began and in response to the beginning attack, Enzaragi would move in and use both his Iaido training with his Twin Eishin draw, focusing on the samahada. Kozan was surprisingly closer to Enzaragi in strength then he looked luckily this draw was designed to deflect stronger knocking it away. Giving an opening for Enzaragi to move in and strike with an attack of his own.

Enzaragi would deflect the blade to the side letting it crash down before using the momentum to continue into a spin stepping into very close range holding his already drawn blade in an ice pick grip aiming to thrust it into Kozan's abdomen. If this were to connect Enzaragi the blade would penetrate the armor and pierce the Kiri ninjas abdomen. Completely leave it in the abdomen, it was fine he had 9 others. After this if it landed as he wanted Enza would begin to slide out back of close to mid range turning as he did so to fully face his opponent. Readying his hand to draw as he anticipated a counter attack from the second swordsmen of the mist.

A-Rank Taijutsu Stance.
Prerequisite(s): 30 Speed, *[Iaido • Ancestral Visage].
Taking a deep breath and regulating their breathing, the practitioner assumes a crouched stance, leaning forward slightly as their sword hand hovers over the hilt of their blade, the scabbard's edge firmly gripped with their opposing hand. Forcing external distractions out of the mind such as pain, fatigue, and non-critical environmental distractions, the practitioner directs all of their focus onto a single opponent, dropping themselves into a trance called the Theta state. The Theta state allows the practitioner to react almost instinctively to each action of the opponent. These reactions happen so quickly that a proficient user of this stance can commonly interrupt or counter an opponent's actions with a movement or slash before they even finish it. This stance will constantly drain the practitioner while in use, and it is both ineffective and dangerous to use when fighting multiple opponents. If the opponent's Speed is higher than the practitioner's Speed, this technique is rendered useless.

Frame data used to not only track Kozan's movement but also counter
S-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisites: Read like an open book, Your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see!
Through years of experiencing and training for battle, Enzaragi has mastered his eyesight subconsciously able to analyze and see the slightest of muscle twitches and contraction of fibers to predict exactly how a person could attack this also extends to tracking multiple objects and opponents simultaneously no matter how quick or unpredictable. His remarkable ability to read attacks and track movements allows him to see an attack even once and is able to counter perfectly as a result.

D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The hallmark of Iaido is its practitioners abilities to launch an attack even when their swords are sheathed. *[Iaido • Ancestral Visage]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Using Iaido to its fullest requires a keen eye and quick reactions, enabling its users to target weaknesses and openings that their opponents present almost instantaneously. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to attack openings that present themselves, the practitioner now able to reflexively attack an opening in almost the same moment that it is observed. This Discipline reduces the gap of time between a practitioner recognizing a potential opening for attack and launching the attack to exploit said opening to almost nil.

*[Iaido • Spectral Flight]
B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): 15 Strength, 25 Speed, *[Iaido • Ancestral Visage].

*Eishin • Twin Draw Used to deflect Kozan's attack. All previous disciplines are used to support his reaction to Kozan's attack.
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: Two katana or other blades. Eishin • Single Draw Block
With training and practice, the use of this technique is able to advance on the initial technique of this style, drawing two swords at once with the technique. By drawing two blades, the user's defensive and offensive range increases. The two blades can also focus on one target to repel an attack of greater strength. The technique's true potential, however, lies in the user's ability to operate both offensively and defensively.

Iaido You never asked for this. Only did the first half of this technique.
B-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: two swords or other blades. 25 speed
An Iaido attack that is very different from the usual. Enzaragi sends out a quick snap of tension and torque through his body. He turns around while drawing his blades then holding his blades in an ice-pick grip then stabs the opponent in the abdomen leaving the blade in the opponent. then turns around holding his other blade I the same way then stabbing the opponent in the back Again leaving the blade in the receiver. After the attack is done he will be standing behind his opponent. His attack is meant to be advancing while taking out an enemy.

Your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see! Used to slide out of range if all went well.
B-rank Taijutsu discipline
Enzaragi knows distance managing is a very important as this can give him huge advantages giving him immense control over fights as he can move in and out of range to change the rhythm of the fight making it difficult to get used to while also having great range management and dodging attack at even a moments notice while also noticing patterns and openings giving him almost perfect dodging and countering capabilities.

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Ace Trainer » Fri May 02, 2025 5:15 pm

Kozan swung, and his opponent responded quickly. As Enzaragi moved to deflect the attack, he would find he would have nothing to defend against, the swing converting into a feint, Kozan releasing the sword once all momentum stopped. His opponent was clearly a strong fighter, able to keep up with Kozan's movements without even hesitation. It would certainly make the fight more interesting, if not harder for him.

The feint would mean that the Samehada would never finish it's swing, and instead Kozan would be free for his free hand to slide along the the blades Enzaragi was intending to use to defend. His body would move to the side and instead he would strike Enzaragi's hand, aiming to force him to drop the swords in his hand. As his struck his hand, his attack would convert into a grab, aiming to hold onto Enzaragi, preventing him from continuing to use the hand. The Samehada would continue to fall, and Kozan would snatch it out of the air, and instantly swinging it towards Enzaragi now from the side, aiming to strike him in the stomach while he couldn't escape, deflecting his attack and hopefully sending him backwards and only releasing to send him towards the edge of the ring.

[Kettou: Feint]
B-rank Taijutsu Discipline
During a duel, feints allow the duelist to confuse their opponent, predict counters, and protect themselves. This discipline allows the user to turn virtually any attack into a feint. As long as the strike has not made contact, the user can pull it back. Opponents with less speed, or inadequate perception are left unable to distinguish between feints and genuine attacks.

[Kettou: Disarm]
C-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Intended to remove weapons from the opponent's arsenal, this technique requires that the opponent is attacking with a weapon in hand. As the opponent attacks, the user will move to the inside of the attack and use their outside arm to make a directed attack at the opponents hand and wrist, striking downward with their full strength. If the attack lands and the users strength is greater than the opponents, they will be disarmed. If the targets strength is higher, they will take a [-3 Speed] for attacks with that hand.

[Kettou: Close Quarters Combat]
B-rank Taijutsu Discipline
A master of close quarters combat, the user is able to exert the full of their strength with even the tiniest of movements, allowing them to replicate the strength of a full swing or strike with just a flick of their wrist. This allows the user to fight in incredibly close quarters or cramped spaces without losing efficiency.

[Kettou: Armed]
C-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The biggest advantage in a duel is being able to catch opponents off guard with different attack types. When wielding a weapon, this duelist is able to release their weapon and strike at the opponent with their bare hand, before grabbing the weapon out of the air again prior to it falling to the ground. This is especially helpful for creating feints.

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Mre-face » Fri May 02, 2025 7:27 pm

Of course the dread bannin didn't rush in like some brute. The man was a trained killer of kiri and a brilliant swordsmen. Ranked second only to the overseer himself in the seven swordsmen. As Enzaragi began his counter, Kozan feint would trick Enzaragi. Letting go of the samahada. Letting it fall, The fear monger would then smack Enzaragi's hand before attempting to grab his his hand that was freed from his own weapon, fine he had nine more.

But it wasn't all Kozan however because soon as the faint started, Enzaragi's body would react instantly on it's own. Theta state had made it so that his free hand that was ready to draw would already be moving to perform a quickdraw pommel smashing into Kozan's lower rib, not only smashing the flak jacket but pushing himself away only by a metter as well which gave him just that extra bit of space to move if need be. This would free his hand. The same freed hand would move to draw another blade as soon as it was released, preparing a thrust towards Kozan's chest. While the one that was used to pommel strike, was already moving to block the incoming slash. This time he knew better, he wouldn't fall for the same trick twice preparing for any possible feints for misdirection's during the exchange and what would follow!

The practitioner has learned how to more quickly and efficiently sheath his blades even without the use of both hands. The practitioner can now sheath the blade just as quickly with one hand as could be done with two hands, and so long as the scabbard remains on their person, the practitioner will always have an exact knowledge of the position of their scabbard.

A defensive technique particularly useful when an opponent is close to the practitioner or is clinching them in a grapple, the practitioner grabs the hilt of their sword with a reverse grip and rams the butt or pommel of the hilt into the opponent's body, pushing the opponent back a number of meters equal to the difference between their Strength scores. Conversely, against opponents with higher Strength than their own, the practitioner can use this technique to push themselves back a number of meters equal to their own Strength score. The speed and simplicity of the attack can push opponents away and give the practitioner the needed space to set up additional attacks.

This technique is often the preferred drawing motion of many Eishin practitioners allowing them to transition from defense to offense very quickly.

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Ace Trainer » Sat May 03, 2025 10:13 am

It was clear his opponent was an adept fighter, and while he was fast, the close quarters they were in largely nullified the difference in their speed. Yet, Kozan could tell he was stronger than his opponent- if even by just a hair. His hand collapsed around Enzaragi's free hand, his body now open to the right of Enzaragi's own, and after breaking his hold on the weapon, Kozan would force the scorpion to use his other hand to react. The draw was quick - standard Iaido techniques that Kozan had trained with hundreds of times by now. But Kozan had a grip on his opponent, and as Enzaragi aimed the pommel across his own body at Kozan's chest, he would pull Enzaragi's body with all his strength, aiming to rotate Enzaragi's body and send him downwards. The goal was simple, if Enzaragi had nothing to help him keep balance, this would send him off of his feet and force his attack to miss and sending Enzaragi downwards and away him. If he did, Kozan would simply take the attack to the chest, either way ideally allowing Kozan to finish the arcing swing at Enzaragi with the Samehada. All of this aiming to get Enzaragi onto the ground, where Kozan would be able to unleash blows at him.

As he released his hold on Enzaragi's arm, his hand would deftly grab onto a pommel in Enzaragi's sheath, sliding it out and holding it defensively as Enzaragi fell to the ground and the Samehada fell.

[Kettou: Get Over Here]
C-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
When dueling, grapples provide just as much value as strikes. When going for any sort of open handed strike, the user can elect to quickly convert it into a grab, grabbing onto limbs, clothing, or equipment to pull or push the opponent with [Strength]. Doing so often can throw the opponent off balance or interrupt attacks, creating new openings and more importantly preventing them from getting away from attack.

Including these two below just to be safe
[Enraged Throw]
A-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: [Improvised Throw]
Kozan's expertise in the utilization of weapons means that even things not meant to be a weapon can be used as one. In fact, Kozan has become so adept at improvising projectiles that Kozan can pick up people and throw them as if they were a Projectile Weapon, applying techniques meant for [Projectile Weapons] to the person when throwing them.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Uncanny Shot]
B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After much training and study, the practitioner is able to launch projectiles from previously impossible positions. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to launch projectile attacks without any detriment to their aim regardless of the position of their body. This includes while contorting their body or making rapid adjustments such as dodging attacks or performing acrobatic maneuvers.

[Pickpocket]
B-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
[Deft Hands]
Due to his expertise with weapons, Kozan is attuned to virtually every type of weapon storage device there is - tool pouches, tool belts, flak jacket pockets, sword sheaths, polearm sheaths, and the wide variety beyond this. His expertise extends even to these, which means if Kozan can get in reach of a weapon that is stored away, he can still obtain it. This means Kozan is particularly adept at drawing swords off his opponent, fishing kunai out of their weapon pouch, or disarming them before they even have a chance to draw their weapons.

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Scoreboard
Enzaragi: 1
The ground would screech beneath Enzaragi as he stabilized himself as soon as he felt the pull, resisting it. Exiting theta state to keep up his posture. While Kozan was stronger it was only slight, and wasn't enough to completely throw the scorpion like a ragdoll. His opponent was adaptable. Ready to change and adjust as it was needed but this time it wouldn't be enough. The pommel would smash into Kozan's chest freeing his hand and causing him to slide back slightly. Letting him continue to perform the rest of the sequence was going to perform. As the Samahada barreled in it would be blocked by the very same blade was used to pommel strike, just barely being able to block the incoming attack. While the other that was freed already be on it's way moving to thrust at Kozan's chest.

MetaShow
(Basically continuing the same exact thing from the last post)

Float like a butterfly Used to counter Kozan's takedown
C-rank taijutsu stance
Prereq: The boxer guard
This is the same as the boxer guard but improving on it adding stability, flexibility, mobility, security, and range. He does this through better positioning of his legs, hips, and shoulders as a consequence improving his footwork When it comes to footwork he can dance around the battlefield in his boxer guard effortlessly while still maintaining all of the other benefits of his guard.

The boxer guard "Float like a butterfly" is a stronger version of this I'm just highlighting an important piece of wording in case it gets contested.
D-rank taijutsu stance
Prereq: 9 taijutsu (tai isn't a stat anymore I should change this lmao)
The classic stance gives great power, defense, and stability while this stance is not made for kicking but the user can still kick well. This stance as said offers great stability making it way harder for him to get knocked off his feet. This stance can be very varied meaning it can be used to favor outside fighters, inside fighters or something in between.

Frame data used to keep track of Kozan and look for patterns such as feints
S-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisites: Read like an open book, Your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see!
Through years of experiencing and training for battle, Enzaragi has mastered his eyesight subconsciously able to analyze and see the slightest of muscle twitches and contraction of fibers to predict exactly how a person could attack this also extends to tracking multiple objects and opponents simultaneously no matter how quick or unpredictable. His remarkable ability to read attacks and track movements allows him to see an attack even once and is able to counter perfectly as a result.

*[Iaido • One with the Sword] used to draw the swords
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): *[Iaido • One with the Sheath].

In order for Iaido to stand toe to toe with a variety of high-level opponents, refining fundamentals to a new height is necessary. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to more quickly accelerate to max movement speed and decelerate to a full stop at a moment's notice. This does not offer protection against attacks that the practitioner does not know is coming.

*[Iaido • Last Rites] used to break free of Kozan's grip and make himself slide back allowing a little more space.
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
A defensive technique particularly useful when an opponent is close to the practitioner or is clinching them in a grapple, the practitioner grabs the hilt of their sword with a reverse grip and rams the butt or pommel of the hilt into the opponent's body, pushing the opponent back a number of meters equal to the difference between their Strength scores. Conversely, against opponents with higher Strength than their own, the practitioner can use this technique to push themselves back a number of meters equal to their own Strength score. The speed and simplicity of the attack can push opponents away and give the practitioner the needed space to set up additional attacks.

*Eishin • Single Draw Block same hand that was used to pommel is also used as a block
D-Rank Taijutsu
A basic Eishin technique that utilizes reactionary senses and is often taught to the point that it comes as second nature when intercepting attacks; by leaning back and yanking their hand up the user of this technique is able to use reflexes and speed to bring the edge of their blade up in front of an oncoming solid attack. This technique is often the preferred drawing motion of many Eishin practitioners allowing them to transition from defense to offense very quickly.

Sasu • Seamless Skill
D-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
A skill utilized by those on the path to mastery of their weapon, users of Seamless Skill are actively able to transition between offensive and defensive usage of the aforementioned weapon. By transitioning so seamlessly, the user is able to save a marginal amount of energy while attacking.

Iaido • Twin thrust used but only draws one
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite:Two katana or other blades
In this technique, the user draws their two swords at the same time but instead of slashing they draw out their sword and thrust their sword at the same time at a target. Aiming to mix up and confuse their opponent/s.

Quote:
Scoreboard
Enzaragi: 1
The pommel would strike Kozan in the chest across Enzaragi's body, and Enzaragi would attempt to use the force of the strike to throw his body backwards and out of Kozan's grip. Kozan was unwilling to let go, however, and utilizing the core style he was taught in the academy, holding fast on Enzaragi's arm as Enzaragi used the same sword to block a strike from the Samehada. Limiting them both to one hand, Kozan would need to take this moment to his advantage. As the swords met, Kozan would release the massive broadsword he was wielding and let the force of Enzaragi's strike send it barreling backwards. His hand would move across the opening, grabbing onto Enzaragi's neck, thrusting his fingers into the pressurepoints on his opponent's collarbone. As he did, this time he would pull on both his neck and arm at the same time, using his perpendicular positioning to Mondai to his advantage. He'd quickly thrust his knee upwards, intending to slam his knee into his opponent's gut.
SpoilerShow
[Kettou: Lock Step] - prevent Enza from pulling out with a higher ranked strength check
A-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
If a Kettou user is able to overpower his opponent, keeping the opponent in range is the most important thing they can do. When striking at the opponent they will convert the strike into a grab, and grab onto one of the opponents limbs. Once the user has grabbed onto the opponent, they will use all the strength to retain the grab. While this removes the users ability to use that hand, they will then begin unleashing blows at the opponent, overwhelming them with raw strength by relentlessly assaulting the opponent’s head and body, using their tight grip to prevent the opponent from getting away.

[Target Speed] - pressure point attack
B-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
The user strikes with pinpoint accuracy at the correct pressure points or muscle groups on an opponent's body that can effectively debilitate their speed. When struck, the opponent suffers a shock throughout their body and a sudden loss of mobility, manifesting as a -6 to Speed for the next five posts. This technique can be applied using a thrown weapon, however doing so from range lowers the potency of the strike and only imparts a -3 penalty to Speed instead.

[Kettou: Close Quarters Combat]
B-rank Taijutsu Discipline
A master of close quarters combat, the user is able to exert the full of their strength with even the tiniest of movements, allowing them to replicate the strength of a full swing or strike with just a flick of their wrist. This allows the user to fight in incredibly close quarters or cramped spaces without losing efficiency.[/quote]

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Mre-face » Mon May 05, 2025 6:45 pm

Kozan wouldn't let go it seemed and thus Enzaragi would have to react accordingly. As soon as the samahada was sent flying he would give Kozan something that he had to address immediately. The scorpion would go for another draw with his free hand and pivot on his feet as he was pulled right at the same time as Kozan adjusted to get to Enzaragi's neck. This time performing the 'ripper draw.' Aimed right towards Kozan's neck and face aiming to slice in one big swoop even attempting to jumping with it Kozan would continue to try to pull on Enzaragi. If Kozan did choose to address the attack then it could give Enzaragi an opportunity to perhaps position himself better and potentially free himself. If not he would simply get to slicing. Enzaragi had gone through far worse when it came to hurt and this wasn't enough to stop him from continuing. If he was still under Kozan's grasp Enzaragi would cleverly position his legs in such a way that he could block the incoming knee to his gut with his very own knee.

Quote:
Enzaragi - 1
Kozan - 1
As Kozan pulled down on Enzaragi to strike him, he was surprised to find his opponent would rotate, turning his body towards Kozan's. As Kozan pulled down on his neck, cranking upwards on the arm he had a hold of, his opponent would very literally turn his face into the knee, Kozan's knee colliding with the scorpions face. Surprisingly, Enzaragi simply let this happen, seemingly attempting to roll some sort of counterattack into it. His draw from his sword, would thrust upwards as Kozan held his body downwards, but Kozan would simply lean out of the way, in a vastly superior position to his opponent. He would watch as Enzaragi blindly slashed the sword upwards, and Kozan would release Enzaragi's neck, grabbing the man's bicep with the same hand squeezing as he pushed downwards.

He now had control of both of Enzaragi's arms, and would thrust downwards, intending to put Enzaragi in a sort of downward facing dog position, with both of his arms leveraged behind him. As he did, he'd slam his knee with all of his strength into Enzaragi's spine. Repeatedly bashing his leg into his opponent.

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Mre-face » Tue May 06, 2025 11:22 am

Quote:
Enzaragi - 1
Kozan - 1
While it may be surprising for the outside observer Enzaragi choosing to face his opponent was a deliberate strategy. Conceding a worse position for a less bad one so he could work towards a good one. Enzaragi would turn towards Kozan and eat the knee yes but the metallic mask would resist the impact. Even if he didn't have the mask at hand, when you have endurade as much as Enzaragi has, with a metallic skull. A simple knee was nothing to cry home about. Rotating himself and repositioning himself this way allowed him to not only still have sight of his opponent but also posture himself as he was pulled. He now had enough of a vision with his eyes especially when his head rocked upwards. Allowing him to trade the knee with a slice of his ripper draw, The score was still even as the both of them had traded.

His focus on Kozan has payed off. It clicked and now he knew what exactly Kozan was specialized in. The leg strength from jumping motion combined with Enzaragi's stance and knowledge that Kozan couldn't lock himself down like he could. Was enough for him to explosively snap and posture up just enough to not be completely thrown on to his stomach. Being in comparison to Kozan crouched just slightly as he remained firm in his poster. This was to keep himself facing Kozan head on. While Kozan was stronger it was only by a tiny margin. His grip was violent and firm but that wasn't enough to completely break Enzaragi's posture and pull him around like a ragdoll. Kozan was clearly trying to smother him. So as soon as Enzaragi noticed follow up grab to his arm Enzaragi would move his free hand in a circular motion getting on the inside not allowing Kozan to grab it, this time thrusting towards the neck and if this were to connect then Enzaragi would then leave the blade. Before reaching back to counter a potential follow up grab or move for a follow up attack of some kind.
MetaShow
Float like a butterfly used to posture up against Kozan's grapple attack. I think amongst the 1 strength difference, the stance being designed not to be knocked of his feet, AND that Enza has rigid structure to be able to better lock his body up enough vs Kozan's lack of rigid body. Should be enough to able to resist being thrown on his stomach.

Frame data used to keep track of Kozan's movement, feints and look for patterns. In this case it's used to support him avoiding the follow up grab to his arm allowing him to avoid being grabbed and counter.

C-rank taijutsu discipline

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Ace Trainer » Tue May 06, 2025 11:54 am

Quote:
Enzaragi - 1
Kozan - 2
Almost immediately Kozan could notice the slight change in how Enzaragi was moving. The close quarters of their fight had made the speed difference between them largely irrelevant, they were both fast, and the gap in their speed in a battle of inches was marginal at best. Had Enzaragi utilized hit and run tactics, even in these close quarters, Kozan likely would have been at a disadvantage. Regardless, the pressure point strike to his neck had slowed Enzaragi down, which wouldn't meaningfully impact the fight, but would mean Kozan had to stress his body slightly less to keep up.

His knee collided with the mask, but even still as Enzaragi swung the sword upward it would be child's play for Kozan to dodge. Did Enzaragi really think he could slice someone from a bent over position, who could see his entire body? Even with his perception, swinging forward with the outside arm would mean his reach was limited, and Kozan didn't even need to step but just lean out of the way of the sword swinging. As he reached for the bicep, Enzaragi would continue to force his body upwards in an attempt to resist Kozan's downward push. Enzaragi would throw his strength into the push, and rather than resist it, Kozan would allow him to, taking a pivot as he did, cracking the arm he still held control of in the process, and holding it across Enzaragi's back. As he did, he'd take a fist and punch Enzaragi in the rib cage, hoping to be the third strike that would end this fight.

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Mre-face » Fri May 09, 2025 8:03 am

Quote:
Enzaragi - 1
Kozan - 2
He had missed, fine he sacrificed a bad position for a better one that was the whole point more or less. Which he had achieved by attacking this way.

The dread bannin was off balance Enza could work with that, This was the opportunity to initiative and reestablish control. Immediately he would take advantage of Kozan's off balanced posture. Using the slight speed advantage Enza still has and would immediately begin circling to his left to get to Kozan's outside right side. As he circled he would simultaneously use the blade right besides Kozan's neck to stab into it. Not only leaving it in there for Kozan to deal with later but also using it as extra leverage as Enzaragi sweeped Kozan's outside right foot. The goal was to flip Kozan on his side and get him to the ground, where defending would be a more difficult. If this were to work Enzaragi didn't care whether or not Kozan maintained his grip of his right hand as he still had the posture and angles to start working on attacks from the top.

If this wasn't successful the circling would allow him to ideally be on the outside where he had better angles to find attacks. Or keep standing face to face whether Kozan liked it or not. His stabbing attempt would also continue and leaving it in if it landed. Reeling back his free hand and tuck his elbows to block any potential attacks to his torso. The reel back would allow his free hand to prepare one of two things. Either ready to draw and pommel smash this time aiming to free his hand fully now that he knew that Kozan couldn't lock his body as rigidly as Enzaragi could.

And the second thing was too look out for any potential counters, feints or grabs by Kozan so he could respond with a counters of his own. Kozan was ahead in the scoreboards and only needed one clean uncontested hit to be the victor so Enzaragi might as well do what he was best at which was true relentless rushdown to smother his opponent or bait out a mistake he could capitalize on and trade whenever the opportunity presented itself.

MetaShow
TLDR: Enza attempts to stab Kozan as he circles to his left to find a sweep if it doesn't work he tries to stab him and goes to block his torso using his elbow and works on a pommel strike but ready to respond if Kozan were to try something.

Potentially preparing several attacks depending on how Kozan reacts:

*[Iaido • Last Rites]

*[Iaido • One with the Sword]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): *[Iaido • One with the Sheath].

*[Iaido • Spectral Flight] all these are just in support of the from the earlier post lol
B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): 15 Strength, 25 Speed, *[Iaido • Ancestral Visage].

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Ace Trainer » Fri May 09, 2025 1:43 pm

Enzaragi would move with Kozan as he moved, causing them to sort of rotate in an odd, sort of romantic circle, each of them keeping their bodies towards each other as they attempted to gain the superior position. Enzaragi would move to stab, occupying both his hands and Kozan's body would suddenly lurch forward, his speed increasing unexpectedly. He would thrust his free hand into Enzaragi's stomach, abandoning the strength match up in order to surprise Enzaragi who had been attempting to adapt to Kozan's norms throughout the fight. In combination with the blurred movement from the Head Hunters Division, Enzaragi would be caught with the final strike as his sword launched towards Kozan's neck. The fight was over.

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Mre-face » Fri May 09, 2025 5:58 pm

It wasn't over yet, the initiative was in his favor so while Kozan leaned back not only to avoid the attack but also from throwing the knee it had put him in the worst possible position to not only being to circle but also throw a punch in a short sequence. Kozan would have to place his foot down lean back forwards, circle and then throw his punch while lurching forward for this match to be over the way he had intented. All the while avoiding Enzaragi's attack entirely and hoping that he wouldn't be able to adjust his trajectory to hit him at all.

So by the time Kozan would attempt to place his foot down and circle to then punch. Enzaragi had already placed his foot on the outside and begun sweeping the leg. At the same time his blade was already so close to Kozan's neck from the dodge that all Enzaragi need to do was adjust his wrist angle a little bit and pull his arm back a little for it to hit it's mark. Successfully stabbing into the massive ninja in the back/side of the neck while successfully sweeping his leg at the same time. Which would be made even easier as Kozan made himself weaker to surprise Enzaragi with a shift in speed. Faster or not at this range and the focus that Enzaragi had maintained he had would see the beginning of this attack and the sudden speed shify. Blurry or not he had tracked his movements with his extremely well trained eyes and could subconsciously read this attack. Twisting his body to the side as he threw Kozan to the side. At best Enzaragi would completely avoid the attack entirely. At worst the two of them would trade within moments and the score would remain 2-1 as is. Enzaragi however would have Kozan falling on his side and Enzaragi would then also have worked on freeing his hand. Where he could then launch attacks from the top or reset the fight entirely.

Kozan would have had been better to completely smother Enzaragi's attack but the willingness to end this quickly had given Enzaragi the opportunity to find his counter. He had a reputation to get back and this fight wouldn't end this easily.

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Ace Trainer » Fri May 09, 2025 9:01 pm

It was as if time was moving backwards or something, and inexplicably, Kozan found himself somehow failing to put his foot to the ground faster than his opponent would finish an entire attack that literally launched his body into the air, pivot, rotate his entire body, and position himself 90 degrees to Kozan's position. As Kozan moved to put his foot to the ground (as gravity often did on it's own), he would find Enzaragi not only attacking his neck from close quarters with a sword the size of his forearm, but also somehow (without at all leveraging Kozan's own body), sweeping Kozan's planted foot. Almost perfectly timing the two attacks, while Kozan just for funsies remained suspended in mid-air like some sort of funny looney-toons bit (not that Kozan knew what looney-toons were or would watch them if they existed in his universe.)

Enzaragi's sword would clash with Kozan's armor, the flak jacket being rendered useless from the previous attack. But, the truth seeker still remained in full form, and the sword would hit him harmlessly, basically bouncing off of the armor as a crack spread along Kozan's right side from the impact, not quite broken, but not well put together. The score was now 2-2. In a normal fight, Kozan's weapon would have leapt from his body and consumed Enzaragi to end this quickly, but unfortunately that wasn't an option. Yet as this happened, Enzaragi also managed - defying logic or reason - to contort his entire body to avoid an attack going to his center body while doing these things! This would result in Kozan's arm flailing out into the air. But! It mattered not, as Kozan fell, he would continue the swing, hammer fisting into Enzaragi's stomach once more. For good measure, as Kozan's back hit the ground, he'd roll onto his shoulder and twist his hips, slamming his legs into Enzaragi's body as well. One of the two would surely hit, unless Enzaragi managed to freeze time once again so he could complete 7 actions in the time it took Kozan to move a limb.

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Mre-face » Tue May 13, 2025 8:10 am

A short dance would occour a stepping sweep and stab all in the blink of an eye. While the blade didn't stab into Kozan direvtly however it did allow him to use the blade as leverage to crank on Kozan causing him to flip to the side. His plan had worked he was now on his side falling but that didn't mean that Enzaragi had won Kozan was still hellbent on landing an attack on him. And Enzaragi would respond accordingly.

Enzaragi seeing the hammer fist attempt, Enzaragi would shell up with his elbows to block his torso. Twisting away as he had already started doing from seeing the punch attempt while also using his left knee the same leg that he had used to sweep was used to block the hammerfist attempt. After he had blocked the hammerfist attack with elbows and legs he would use his already chambered knee to then throw a quick snap side kick as he almost 'hopped back' stepped backwards with his right leg. The kick would allow him to completely disengage from the follow up kicks as it would push away Kozan and thus avoiding them completely by his body being twisted and out of range due to the angle as Enzaragi also stepped back to disengage and reset completely. The goal of this quick snapping side kick was to catch Kozan as he fell attempting to end the fight then and there at best or force Kozan to block so that he could continue to disengage. 2-2 it was close. The tension was high the crowd likely felt it with in their very bones. One hit was all it would take to end this fight

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Ace Trainer » Tue May 13, 2025 10:46 am

Sure, the sequence went exactly as described. As Enzaragi blocked the attacks that were happening simultaneously to everything else he did, continuing to create some odd dissonance between events that had already occurred and new ones, Kozan would find his attacks defended against. As Enzaragi did his final kick Kozan would block with an elbow and convert the momentum from the failed kick into a kip up.

As Enzaragi created distance between them, Kozan would land on his feet (unless of course Enzaragi miraculously attacked at the same time he was allegedly moving away since anything was on the table here), and Kozan too would begin to move backwards until he was a meter away from the easternmost edge of the circular ring, the samehada on the ground a few feet from him, he’d flip a kunai in his hands. Boy this was taking forever.

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Mre-face » Tue May 13, 2025 5:10 pm

This went about as expected they both had sort of countered each other and now they were still at 2-2 It was important not to stress a victory that was why Enzaragi disengaged so he could get a better attack and not get hit by a stray hit.

His opponent likely thought that Enzaragi had no real way to attack since they were out of range but Enzaragi COULD ACTUALLY (I know this is hard to believe but it was indeed possible with his skillset) so attacking even from this range was an option he would choose. As soon as Enzaragi was out of range as he moved to his edge of the arena. He would also draw his Ω blades from his back in a blinding speed. Throwing one directly towards Kozan. Ready to redirect it and pull it in various directions to catch the Dread bannin if he were to try to avoid or block it in some way and the other would simply head straight towards the Samahada with the goal to wrap around the handle than pull it out of Kozan reach and specifically towards himself.

The goal was to press Kozan as he tried to get up while also denying his samahada from him leaving him to use his Kunai. Ideally the chain and blade would overwhelm his defenses and give Enzaragi the victory more directly rather than needing to catch him with another attack.

Post by Ace Trainer » Tue May 13, 2025 5:27 pm

Enzaragi also moved to the edge of the battlefield, and now the fighting would be paced completely differently. Enzaragi had been struck by the previous attacks, slowing him down, and Kozan would be able to freely increase his speed when necessary to outpaced his opponent. The distance between them would make it much easier to do attacks that emphasized the new difference in speed. In the mean time, the weapons would be launched across the arena at Kozan and the Samehada, Enzaragi seemingly wanting to remove the weapon from Kozan's access while distracting him with another attack. Kozan had plenty of experience with long ranged weapons, but this was not going to make much of a difference here.

A single step to the outside, allowing the weapon's trajectory to guide him away from the Samdehada and then Kozan would vanish, instantly propelling himself across the 10 meters between them, crouched just outside Enzaragi's left arm, his strike going across Enzaragi's stomach. The movement would be instantaneous, Enzaragi having not opportunity to respond, no ability to read the attack or prepare for it. There wasn't a defense to mount, this was the 3rd strike.

[Whirlpool Tournament] Jinsoku Enzaragi vs Shiimu Kozan

Post by Mre-face » Tue May 13, 2025 8:17 pm

The blades were thrown and whizzed past Kozan the other would attach to the samahada but Enza still had control over the both of them. As Enzaragi had expected he wanted to close the distance in some way and try to exploit an opportunity. Had Enzaragi been a lesser fighter this dodge and change in movement would have completely caught him, however his eye could see the fastest and most unpredictable of attacks and he was already prepared to defend and adjust his chains if need be when he threw them.

The second Kozan began stepping Enzaragi would immediately manipulate both the chains as they were still close to his body with a simple flick of his wrist as well as pulling his arms close to him to defend himself from the incoming attack. The chains would whip, dance and rotate around himself similar to that of the 'snake' children's jump rope game. However much more unpredictable as they gyrated and wriggled in front of his body defending him from incoming attacks in what would effectively act as a 360° defensive bubble around himself as Kozan tried to dash in. Enzaragi would still observe Kozan regardless of his blurred movement or sudden unpredictable blitz hell he could even track and predict where he would be even if he had 'disappeared'. An effective shield of chains around Enzaragi would be formed before Kozan had gotten to him. Which would result in Kozan's attack being blocked either by Enzaragi's chains or arms. As he wasn't able observe the defenses properly enough for him to get past the chains and his arms were there as back up incase he did somehow manage to bypass his defenses.

From here Enzaragi would observe for any follow ups ready to respond accordingly. Preparing himself to defend and attack and even set up feints of his own. The tiniest mistake could cost either of the two this match so being weary but not to weary was the key to victory.

TL:DR of the edit removed the beginning feint and dance of the djinn but however will still use the chain defense block techs!

Ω - The slave who mastered chains Used to control chains and used to attack Kozan obviously but also as supporting jutsu to help with his defensive action action
B-Rank Discipline Taijutsu
Ever since slavery Enzaragi has been familiar with chains and then later on Nehan with her wire. Enzaragi has honed his training with the chain blades to the point where he can use his entire body everything from arm legs and even neck to use his blades offensively and defensively even other inanimate objects to ricochet and redirect the momentum or energy to block and attack strikes.

A-Rank Discipline Taijutsu
Enzaragi's training and reflection on how his mentor used chains and wires to her advantage has allowed Enzaragi to reach the point where he can use the chain blades to deflect incoming Kunai/Shuriken/Senbons and other attacks blocking entries if they are incoming at lower speed or equal than the Enzaragi's own speed and for greater speeds able to block if the range and his own reaction were to allow it. He is able to utilize the chain in 360 degrees as he has "become" one with the Fire Chain blades, this technique also let's Enzaragi use it on the move. In order to counter this technique an enemy needs a perception tech of the same rank in order to find the proper openings in the defenses.

Knowing that opponent's have trained their senses to the point of godhood Enzaragi has developed a specialized movement pattern designed to overwhelm all the opponent's senses by constantly moving, shifting bobing, weaving dodging and fainting. Frantically and constantly twitching each minute muscle fiber. This can make Enzaragi look rather twitchy and jumpy but this is all very deliberate way of moving to overwhelm his opponent's senses and nervous system by constantly feeding them useless data by making them consider every possibility every counter every attack constantly as a counter to their unfathomable reactions and perception all the while simultaneously being defensively responsible without tiring himself out, being able to slide in and out of range whenever possible to block, dodge attack or counter at a moments notice with maximum efficiently, Because of this enemy constant focus to keep up with Enzaragi's twitches will quickly find that Enzaragi is far more unpredictable and fatiguing mentally to fight inspite of their [Perception] techniques and resilience disciplines making Enzaragi a threat to anyone that is forced to engage in hand to hand combat with him.
