Fanho glanced around between the ally ways again before making eye contact with his sensei as he drew in the ground a little bit a map of the town they had saw so far. "So if what we were seeing from the hill is correct, we're in the ally way here, positioning ourselves next to the bridge, and some of their tents. Now the tags are on the bridge, so the best way to deal with a force this large is lead them onto the bridge and then blow it. It'll take down a majority of them with it, and leave us with stragglers to deal with. Which shouldn't be too much." Fanho drew a line that came out of the ally way that lead to the surrounding wall around the town. Which is where they both witnessed most of their archers would be stationed.

Preemptively Fanho drew a line where they would need to take out the archers to be able to position themselves on the bridge with relative safety from being shot at. "Possibly the easiest way to go about this is to take out the archers first, gives us one less thing to worry about. Then move onto the bridge to cause a distraction. So it'll let us bunch up most of their melee combatants, and then we can blow the bridge without the fear of getting hit by an arrow." As Fanho drew another line that led from the other side of the town close to the bridge as well onto the bridge to cause a distraction. From there he drew a star, which then he would draw a line off of the side of the bridge onto the opposite side of the river where the steep wall laid, which would hold more bandits.

"When the distraction comes, one of us will drop down to the other side as the other one triggers it from one of these ally ways. This way we cover both sides and pick up the slack left behind from those who didn't get on the bridge. And if necessary the explosive tags don't take down the bridge right away, whoever lands on the cliff face, can launch a jutsu at it to finish the job in time." After preaching about his plan for a few minutes, Fanho glanced over his crudely drawn map while biting his lip a bit overlooking it twice to ensure he hadn't forgotten about any parts before looking up to Hayashi for approval or insight on how to better the approach. While Hayashi was the leader, Fanho had just been trying to pick up the lead a bit as a learning experience. So if Hayashi had saw anything that wasn't smart or a good approach, he could help the young chuunin refine his thinking into a more capable tactician.

Hayashi crouched at his ease beside Fanho, watching and listening as the lad lay out his plans in the dirt. The jounin nodded along approvingly, seeing how Fanho was accounting for the most likely outcomes in ways that would play right into their plan.

"I see what you're doing here, it's a solid plan" he said afterwards, following Fanho's route with his eyes. "But let me run through it again to make sure we're both clear. So, we first move under cover to the edge of the town, and silently take out all of the missile-armed sentries we can see without being noticed. Then we sneak back towards the bridge here-" he prodded the middle of the map, having traced Fanho's own marked route from the bridge out to the wall, along it, and then back, "and cause a stir when we arrive. In swarms all their troops, we jump off the bridge to either side, and-" he snapped his fingers, then scrubbed out the bridge from the dirt to signify its destruction. After a moment longer to look at the plan, he nodded again.

"I think that will do it. Though we have a choice now, before things begin to really heat up; do we do this slowly, carefully, and move together like you said? Or shall we split up and each move to the walls on opposite ends of the town, across the bridge from each other, and take out all the archers simultaneously? There's more risk that way since we can't back each other up, but it halves our timescale, which means they'll have less time to react to us if we are discovered. Think you can handle it?" He grinned, and began mentally piecing together a map of the area in his head to plot his own route. As the faster of the two, he would be the one moving across the bridge to the furthest side if they did split up. He thought Fanho would probably go for that plan, but if he wanted to stay together then that was also laudable - the important part was that they succeeded, after all. Instead of making the decision and moving out without Fanho's input, he waited to see how the lad would decide to proceed himself. Even though he was still just a Chuunin, Fanho would be leading squads more and more as he progressed as a ninja, and any small bit of experience that Hayashi could give him now would probably be repaid tenfold in the boy's later life.

Fanho gave a nod as Hayashi rehashed the plan over. The plan was solid, with a thorough layout thinking of all the angles with enough flexibility to react to any hiccups. However as long as no abnormalities occurred, it'd be smooth sailing after the archers. The idea of splitting up would expedite the process, and to be frank Fanho was already used to the idea of solo working as he had a few missions before cleaning up without a partner. But he felt like he could manage the task of splitting up. As he mulled it over he gave a nod towards Hayashi as his final answer. "I think we can manage splitting up. Speed up the process so we can hit the others without word hitting them."

After all, Fanho needed to make himself known he could handle a situation by himself. While he knew Hayashi trusted him, he knew Hayashi had seen far too many people be able to call themselves Jounin or Specialist Jounin without being truly deserving of the title.

Or even knowing of what the title truly meant with the responsibilities of it. He probably also witnessed too many people lose their life over that misconception. So the weary question was warranted by all means. If anything Fanho assumed it was because Hayashi felt Fanho was very prospective even, so he should require extra guidance. Which Fanho welcomed it and appreciated it. After all, it'd only make him a better ninja with more lessons and education. "Alright, we'll split up, I'll take the eastern wall, you can handle the western wall. I'll cause the disturbance on the bridge because I can manipulate the light to make it pitch black and cause them to have zero visibility to escape."

With a count down on his fingers, Fanho stood up from his crouched position before moving towards his wall awaiting for Hayashi to position himself accordingly. From there, let the mission begin as they delved into the action. Fanho flinging two senbon with near perfect accuracy into the upper back portion of one of the sentries' neck as it sunk with a slight thud as it pierced through bone silencing him instantly. With a hop, and skip across a wall he then quickly pulled the next down off the wall into an alley way covering his mouth before the quick unsheathing of his tanto next sunken into their heart before he continued his way further down the line.

Following Fanho's countdown, Hayashi moved to the far end of the alleyway, where the two of them had entered from the ravine below, and put himself in a better position to spring into action. As soon as Fanho moved, he darted out and leapt down into the canyon through which the river cascaded, then stopped his fall by catching one of the supports of the bridge. Using the momentum of the fall, he swung himself up to the path of pillars and beams that supported the main walkway over the river, and swung, jumped, and ran along them to traverse the canyon, concealed to all by the underside shadows of the bridge. On the far side, he peeked out carefully and allowed a passing sentry to move out of sight before vaulting up and darting into the shadow of another alley.

Moving quickly in a low crouch, he darted from the alley to the shadow of a building beyond, then down its side and to another, and so on and on until he reached the final wooden building. The town around the bridge looked like it'd never been large, and rings of tents had been erected by the bandits that now stood between him and the outer wall. Hayashi paused for a moment in the shadow of the final building, watching and waiting: Various small bands of the occupying pirates lounged ahead, some in tents and some outside, and others roamed the areas in between. None seemed particularly alert, however, and when a lone man broke off from a group and entered a small tent nearby, Hayashi saw his chance.

Darting out into the maze of tents, he kept low and worked his way around to the side of the small tent that the man had entered. The smell identified it immediately as an improvised privy, but the Jounin ignored it beyond a wrinkling of his nose. Drawing a kunai, he darted inside the tent and caught the man, literally, with his pants down. A deft slash across the neck and his victim toppled over with a near-silent gurgle, allowing Hayashi to stop and take a good look at the man's face. After a long moment he formed a few brief handseals and emerged from a puff of smoke to match the man's appearance. To cover the kill, he knocked aside the wooden board that covered the toilet - a hole over a pit in the floor, of course - and slid the corpse inside before replacing the board. He murmured a quiet apology to the dead as he turned and left the tent.

With his new disguise, the journey through the open field of tents was nothing more than a pleasant late evening walk. He did a quick head-count as he approached the inside of the wall, estimating the total number of guards present and how many more may be nearby. He stopped in the shadow of one of the stairs that led to a walkway along the wall, and brought his hands together a second time. Six copies of Hayashi - each transformed to look like the killed pirate from earlier, of course - left the shadow and, one by one so as to not cause alarm, positioned themselves along various points of the wall. As one, each scaled the walkway, drew kunai, and slaughtered the watch with deft, lethal strikes. The bodies all fell carefully outwards, over the perimeter wall and out of sight. Each clone then began a quick walk along the wall, stopping in at each nearby tent or remaining watch post and catching any remaining archers unawares. Within less than a minute, all of the active archers on the wall of this side of the encampment were downed, and the six copies of the Jounin began planning their route back to the bridge...

After taking down the first two sentries which posed on the wall, he moved down the line as he quickly slung two senbon into the carotid artery of the next two, before grasping the one closest to him by the ankle. In which with one sift movement he pulled him down towards the ground angling the archers body to where his neck bent at a most painful angle, yet swift in his death as a satisfying snapping sound resonated in the immediate vicinity. From which Fanho laid the body quietly down to not alert a roaming guard that patrolled this side of the camp.

From which Fanho quickly finished off the last sentry with a quick, but quiet slice across the throat in which the man began gurgling on his own blood quickly falling unconscious to a mix of asphyxiation and blood loss. Dragging the last three corpses he left on the wall behind a building Fanho quickly moved to an alley way closest to the bridge as he noticed several pockets of guards on his side of the bridge, counting ten in total. Ten easy targets which could be attracted to the bridge with ease.

As Fanho watched the patrols, he gave a deep breath to himself. 1... He had to move swiftly, and preform the jutsus without skipping a beat. 2... As long as everything went according to plan, it would go off without a hitch. 3! Fanho darted from the alleyway weaving between a patrolling group of the bandits as he stopped in the middle of the bridge weaving a quick set of hand seals. Something to get the attention of the rest of the bandits as a bright flash of light beamed from the middle of the bridge.

It'd definitely be a sight to see, as heads peaked from their tents. Those patrolling rubbing their eyes as they made way towards the blurry Fanho burned in their corneas. If this hadn't attracted the attention of those sleeping, Fanho and Hayashi would clean the rest of the mess that staved away from the bridge's untimely demise. "CAN I GET AN AUDIENCE PLEASE?!?!" Fanho beckoned from the bridge as more bandits slipped out of their tents sleepily making way towards the bridge until it amassed quite a number of them surrounding him.

During which Fanho ushered a sly smile before weaving another set of hand seals. "Thanks,
but no thanks actually!"
Before the entire bridge went dark as Fanho hopped on the cobblestone railing of the bridge. Several of the blinded bandits drawing their swords and swinging at spot where he once was only clashing steel with those of their own. From which Fanho quickly hopped towards a clearing between a small grouping of the bandits, in which he back-boarded off of one of the bandit's face utilizing it to propel himself off of the area of the bridge, and back onto his residing side of the camp.

"I can't see him!" "Why is it pitch black all of a sudden?!" "That's me you're hitting you idiot!" Words ushered as they inquisitively fought over where Fanho was in the pitch black darkness, all of which Fanho could see with ease into the black abyss as they fought each other. Some even going so far as to even cut an ally in the fray of darkness. He ushered a loud yell above the arguing bandits over where Fanho was or not. Now eyes widened as they turned towards the sound of Fanho's voice above their own. "Alright Hayashi, blow it now!"

Hayashi and his many clones, each still disguised as one of the pirates, carefully began orchestrating their journey back towards the bridge once the sentries had been dispatched. Three of the clones, spaced out throughout the tents, led the way by purposefully allowing themselves to be seen; one skulked suspiciously through the tents, another ran openly with a weapon drawn, calling to rally his comrades, while the third limped, having used the transformation technique again to make himself appear bloodied and wounded. All three drew attention like flies to a midden, and soon enough a large majority of the pirates on Hayashi’s side of the bridge were coursing towards the crossing. The remaining few clones, interspersed with the mass of shouting pirates, stoked the crowd into a charge as soon as the Fanho’s distractions became evident, leading them onwards with fervour. All Hayashi himself had to do was follow, hidden at a distance, and silently dispatch anyone who turned away or cowered instead of joining the rush to fight.

Soon enough Fanho triggered his trap, and a dome of darkness engulfed the centre of the bridge. The group from Hayashi’s side of the town, encouraged by the boldness of his clones rallying them from within the group, charged into the fray with weapons drawn - and at Fanho’s signal, the Jounin sprang from his concealment from beside a nearby building. He focused his chakra and split it among the many tags on the bridge supports, then shouted his ”Kai!” release seal.

Immediately, the bridge turned from blackest darkness to blinding white, as every tag erupted simultaneously. A great fireball detonated from every strut, and the bridge exploded into thousands of wooden shards - along with all of the pirates gathered along its span. The entire structure became a gruesome geyser of shrapnel and flayed flesh, and soon the waters below were tainted a bright, horrid red.

With two clones having retreated to the edge of the bridge and having survived the blast, Hayashi approached the edge and silently looked out to find his comrade. When he saw Fanho across the scarred and empty ravine, he’d meet eyes with him for a moment before giving a single, solemn nod. Nothing needed to be said - they were here for a job, no matter how trying or brutal the job was. He turned quietly away and led his clones into the town once more. Drawing swords, they darted from building to building, tent to tent, and finally along and over the wall itself - systematically slaughtering any of the lucky few who’d escaped the blast at the bridge.

As the bridge was consumed in the fiery explosion, consuming those on it, resulting in a washout of what would almost seem like red clay for the hopeful mind. With a nod between the two Fanho went his own way, searching high and low for any stragglers trying to make their way away from the concurrent destruction that had just occurred. He fount a few in between that met their fate at the end of his kunai, unfortunately for them, but quick and painless. As he wrapped up the clean up on his side he returned towards the center where he would await Hayashi, while simultaneously and meticulously planning their next two assaults which if all went as well as the first, it would be quick and easy.

As he had presumed Hayashi neared as they began their progression towards the second camp. "So the second camp isn't as better prepared but with the explosion I reckon they know somethings wrong." He furrowed his eye brows as they made headway towards the second bridge,
his analysis and recollection of the previous reconnaissance being recalled. "This one has traps, and their sentries are gonna be on high alert. I don't think we'll get away with a few being off kilter-ed like this first one." With a shrug and a shake of the mind he would sigh as he bit his lip.

"Best thing to do would probably be to formulate some sort of counter attack or distraction. One of us could pretend to be from the first camp 'escaping' " Fanho's air quotes taking full effect to exercise the point. "and the second disguise themselves and sneak in behind lines as another member of the second camp. It'd be the most logical and easiest way."

The blade with the Terūin crest sang as it opened a man from navel to shoulder. Bald and scarred, its victim looked like a veteran of almost as many battles as Hayashi himself - but whatever formal training the pirate had, if any, was on a level entirely beneath that of the deadly shinobi. The man's jaw opened in a silent gasp as he topped forward and hit the ground, already forgotten by the blademaster. Blood flicked free from the dancing blade only to be replaced by more as it clove through the neck of another victim, never ceasing in its task. Watching his comrades fall left and right, a third man turned and ran, ducking into a nearby tent in a desperate attempt to avoid his fate - to little avail. A hair's breadth behind him, Hayashi slashed and cut cleanly through the supports of the tent, collapsing the fabric down onto the man and trapping him. Then, in no apparent hurry, the shinobi levelled the sword and stabbed through the flailing outline of the trapped man. The blade emerged dripping, and the figure toppled.

The same scene was repeated all across Hayashi's side of the camp as he and his clones performed their bloody task. Some of the pirates tried to hide or flee, but most, to their credit, were bold enough to resist. Their decision mattered little. One by one the Jounin systematically found and dispatched them with unrelenting certainty. A short while later he'd worked his way back to the scarred ravine, dismissed his transformed pirate disguise, and darted down, across, and up the other side to rendezvous with his comrade.

He met Fanho's gaze with eyes that were cold and hard from the slaughter. Inwardly, he realised that this might be the first time his student had seen him in such a manner; a resolute, efficient killer who took to the task with a deadly grace. He knew that Fanho himself wasn't so innocent to be shocked by the sight - he would be much the same himself - but the transformation from the well-meaning and earnest mentor to the man he seemed now was absolute. They began to move out and away from the camp as Fanho spoke. Hayashi listened as they moved, and agreed once his comrade had finished.

"You're right, I think they'll be expecting something to happen. That's not to say they'll be ready for us, but we should still prepare." Really, no manner of planning by the alarmed camp could prepare them for the warhead that was two trained and ready Konohagakure shinobi - but the soldier within Hayashi knew it was still best to plan. "Your plan sounds good, let's go with that. I have a face memorised from this assault, I can use that and act as the escapee. That puts me in better striking distance once we begin, too."

The two moved quickly, almost a blur across the terrain as they closed in on their target. Now they'd begun, and had eliminated the largest target, there was no reason to hold anything back. The benefit of having already scouted their route made the journey take a fraction of the time, enabling them to know where to move to arrive quickly and quietly. Before long, they once again arrived at the outskirts of the second bridge camp. Hayashi ran his eyes over the area, noting the same traps and fortifications as before, as well as the increased number of guards present.

"They're definitely on edge," he pointed to where the road entered the camp, "the guard has doubled all around the perimeter there. More eyes and more crossbows. But still less than we just dealt with." He turned to Fanho and gave him a nod. "Find your disguise and sneak in, then find your spot. I'll have to wait a little - no one from the first camp could have reached here so quickly, so they'll be suspicious if I go too soon. Once you're in position, wait for my signal."

With a nod the plan was set, and now it came for the two to put it to fruition. Which the two trained shinobi it shouldn't have been a hard task. It was quite straight forward, with well thought put into it. Fanho's analytical skills may have been late bloomed, but it hardly went unnoticed or unused. In-fact, it kicked into over drive Fanho now planning twenty steps ahead, however it didn't mean he went with the occasional impromptu improvisation plan. Seeing his teacher in such a dark state was unnerving slightly, even though Fanho himself wasn't so innocent, he still carried his optimistic like manner. He didn't like killing at all, but knew it was a necessary evil to prevent the terror they wreak.

However Fanho was gonna add a curve ball to the scheme. He the original was gonna stand by as his shadow clone moved in. He focused the chakra into a mirror image of himself manipulating its form, and changing it as necessary as a puff of smoke stealthily hid his copy before revealing it. It gave a nod towards the original Fanho before performing hand seals and taking on the image of a bandit Fanho could recall seeing on the bridge. It was an almost mirror image, battle damage and all. At a first glace it'd be convincing. The clone took off through the bushes before performing his theatrical acts to fool the non-witty pirates before them.

The clone stumbled and rolled through posing as one of their own before shouting loudly for them to assist. "THEY'RE COMING! T-T-THOSE SHINOBI!" The guards of the second compound took quick aim at their once comrade before lowering arms accepting him in unbeknownst to them it would be their demise. The real Fanho prepared his chakra keeping it swirling within him. He would hold firm as he glanced over at Hayashi as if giving him the signal to make his own move inward.

"Let me know when to make it rain."
Jutsu UsedShow
Ninjutsu • Advanced Shadow Clone Technique
A-rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra the user proceeds to create a number of clones of themselves (maximum is equal to 1/3rd the user's stamina). Unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies of the user in both appearance and substance. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing jutsu on their own and can even bleed, but they will usually disperse after one or two solid blows. The clones will be created in roughly the same condition as the original and any experience the clones gain during their existence is transferred to the user once they are dispersed. Given that the clones are an exact replica of the user, they share the same stats except for stamina, which is determined by the number of clones presently in effect. The advantage of this form of the technique is that once dispersed, the chakra distributed to the clones returns to the user, allowing any un-used chakra to be regained, slowing the draining usage of this technique. The chakra returns to the user at a different rate depending on the user's control.

C-Rank Ninjutsu
An advanced form of the Transformation Technique, after performing the correct hand seals and holding the final one temporarily, the user will coat and mold chakra around their body into the shape and form of something or someone which is no more than twice their size at a speed of 4. This technique's true advantage is that the disguise is given physical substance. This means, for example, if they transform into something with claws, they will have claws that can physically be used. For the disguises 5 post duration, if it is damaged by a hit of 16 or more strength, the disguise "poofs" from existence. This includes collateral damage caused by striking an opponent that may occur to the disguise.

Hayashi, his face dark but focused, remained quiet while the pair waited for enough time to pass so that the appearance of survivors would be believable. The time to move grew closer, and he watched patiently while Fanho created his clone and transformed it - but then he frowned in confusion as the clone took on a bloodied and beaten appearance. So the lad wanted to switch the roles at the last minute, and play the decoy himself? Considering for a moment, he shrugged it off - nothing would be compromised by the sudden alteration, though it was strange to do so without mention - and now was hardly the time to stop and question it. The lad was capable enough regardless. He turned his attention back to the camp as the clone departed, and in that moment noticed a flash of movement from one of the far gates. He cursed under his breath.

With the darkness of night starting to settle properly now it was difficult to make out details, but he was sure that the movement was that of two horses leaving the camp, riders hunched low as the animals took to a run. He shot a final glance to Fanho and ducked away with a parting "You'll know when." Beginning to move as quickly as he dared so as to not risk being seen, he put his hands together in a blurring set of seals to create a clone from refined katon chakra. He left himself and the clone untransformed; with headbands pocketed, nothing immediately identified them as shinobi, and he wasn't intending to be seen by the main camp until the assault begun. After that, it wouldn't matter how people saw him.

He ran with his clone for a short distance until they were level with a darker section of the camp wall, where guards were spaced just far enough apart that the night’s darkness crept around their torches. There he split off, and moved steadily in a low crouch towards the encampment. Using foliage and shadow, and with careful timing, he crept close enough to the wall so that when the time came he could sprint towards and vault it at a moment’s notice; there, he waited for an opening.

His clone meanwhile continued running, far enough away as to be lost to the night. At full pelt, its ninja body easily outstripped the now-galloping horses of the two scouts. Sticking to the night a good distance to their right, the clone passed them and continued until a thicket of trees and a curve in the road gave it a good opportunity to ‘emerge’ ahead of them as if having run in the opposite direction. The two horsemen yanked their reins as they saw him in the road, several choice swear words masked by the the whinny of a horse. The clone threw up its hands and skidded to a halt itself, playing the part of another survivor.

”Whoah, whoah! Easy! I’m a friend!” The clone backed off a step, subtly placing itself in the way of the two scouts. One tried to order him out of the way, but the second scout peered down to take a closer look at the clone, then silenced his partner with a quick wave of the hand.
”Who are you? Don’t recognise ya’.”

”Ta-Tazuke,” the clone answered, adding a frantic tone to its voice as if feeling intimidated into honesty. It quickly picked up on the slight accent of the scout and mimicked the tone as it continued. ”From th’ main bridge- But is there trouble? You two are runnin’ those ‘orses to death!”

The two scouts hesitated and shared a look, surprised by the question. ”Din’t you ‘ear that bang? Whole camp is in a state over it, we’re goin’ t-”
”Shut up!” the other scout quickly cut in, stopping his partner from saying more. Hayashi’s clone’s face showed confusion at the mention of a blast and had begun to shake its head when the same scout continued. ”I dun’ know ya, Tazuke. But we got a job to do, so ‘git on your way back where you come. Move!”

Now appearing surprised again, the clone raised its hands higher as if it were on trial, and stepped back again without moving aside. Allowing these two scouts to get away couldn’t be allowed, so if they didn’t turn back… ”There’s nothi-” Its attempt at making the scouts turn around was cut short as the first scout nudged his horse closer and drew a sword. The other scout followed suit, and the clone took another half-step backwards until the timing was perfect. Suddenly steeling itself, it leapt forward between the two horsemen, slammed its hands together into a single seal, and shouted its defiance as it erupted into a sudden blast of flame and heat, blindingly bright against the inky darkness as it tore through man and horse alike…

Back at the wall, Hayashi grimaced; he felt his clone detonate at the same moment that the bright light in the distance went up like a beacon. He sprung into motion without hesitation; the blast was a good a signal as any, and the slaughter had to begin again at some point regardless. Fanho wouldn’t be able to miss the signal - but if for any reason he did, Hayashi’s own entrance would stir the camp like a kicked nest as he vaulted the wall, sealed, and launched three sizeable fireballs into the camp. Two blasts took out sections of the perimeter wall where guards could be seen holding torches; the third engulfed a large tent that seemed to be some sort of storage area, as well as at least three men around and inside it.

As Fanho watched his sensei spring into action, his mentor's old styled fashion proved to be a useful tool as he blended right in with the hired ronin. A true samurai in attire and all, Hayashi did have an old soul, body, and well old all over. However it was all alright, the young shinobi and his older mentor got along well. They both had the same determination, goals, and caring spirit. It was a perfect match.

As Fanho watched intently his eyes stuck to his mentor and his clone as they moved in, his clone now getting familiar and cozy with the mercenaries who had peeled their eyes to the clone like a hawk. "Thank you for taking me in!" The mercenaries shifting their stances into a defensive posture, clearly aware something was amiss. "Oy, wha' part o' the Takuchi pirates you 'bout?" The clone could tell his proper talking wasn't like those of the pirates, and he had already set off warning signals. The mercenaries hands all started slowly reaching for their weapons as if it would help prevent the clone from seeing they were about to cut him down.

Luckily things were kicking off when he needed them as Hayashi's clone exploded in a fiery blaze engulfing two of the pirates. With a grin Fanho's clone channeled the chakra around him as missiles formed pointing in a triangular pattern before he hopped escaping the blast radius. As the chakra cloaking him faded revealing a Konoha shinobi. The mercenaries were caught off guard gazing in the general direction before turning around with three glowing grey missiles pointed in their face. The pirates had surrounded him, their mistake.

While his clone focused there Fanho's real self on the cliff perched formed his own chakra into the shape of the deadly condensed light missiles as he aimed them along the bridge. His goal would to be able to take down the bridge, and those surrounding it. Which he should've been able to do so, after all these explosions would be strong, fast, and severe. The bandits screams around his clone were drowned out by the stringing of explosions in the area. It was something that'd haunt Fanho if he didn't see it as a necessary evil to bring about the good of people. Sometimes he'd just wish there were alternatives.

The real Fanho's missiles were strewn across the bridge taking out groupings leaving large gaping holes in the bridge making it impossible to cross. It looked as if termites came ripping through, in contrast to the vibrant alive color of the wood. It was entirely shattered, splintered, and wrecked. He could feel the use of chakra taking over, when his clones job had been done he'd have enough for the last bridge. But for now, being this split up he'd be struggling. His clone resorted to physical attacks to preserve what it could give back to its rightful caster. It had already cut down another two stragglers recovering from the hearing damage occurred from the explosions. Their blood curdling screams as they choked from a kunai ripping across their throat. Brutal but quick.

Hayashi spun sideways through a group of three pirates who rounded the corner of a tent ahead of him. They were the first to respond to his explosive entrance into the camp, but their boldness, as admirable as it was, just hastened them towards their deaths. The jounin swung with his left fist as he slid past the first man, turning into the motion, and executed a perfect punch to the man's jaw that sent him staggering. At the same time Hayashi's right hand dropped to his waist and tore free a kunai, spun it once, and slashed through the neck of the second man as he completed his spin. The third man, stunned at the sudden assault, recovered and jumped backwards as he drew his weapon. Hayashi ignored him just long enough to send a second, throat-crushing punch into the neck of the first man, then kicked him to the floor as the third pirate stepped forward to help.

He deftly blocked the pirate's blade as it came swooping towards his own neck, then used the kunai to push the blade aside and step within the pirate's reach. That was the end of the man's resistance. Hayashi gripped him by the throat with his left hand and thrust with an upward killing motion with his right, stabbing the man in the heart. He let the body fall, wiped his kunai, then continued running around the edge of the compound.

Within a few moments he reached the gate. Their earlier scouting had revealed only a handful of men, but he'd dispatched almost that number already - and the sounds of panic and combat from the rest of the camp suggested there were still more within - but the fact that the gate was unguarded suggested that they hadn't been dangerously wrong in their initial estimate. Weaving a quick set of hand seals, the jounin turned and threw the kunai into the heavy wooden gate. The small weapon lodged deeply, and at his final seal, detonated in a vibrant fiery blast. The remaining spars of wood tumbled inwards towards the flame, transforming the usual exit to the camp into an impassable mound of burning wood. At the same time he saw Fanho's handiwork destroy the bridge in a violent, explosive lightshow, and a roar of anger went up from the remaining pirates in the camp.

Hayashi began moving towards that sound, but froze as he spotted a large shape, momentarily silhouetted against the explosion at the bridge, shift in the night ahead of him. The man looked to be almost seven feet tall and proportionately wide, and drew a large two-handed sword as he met Hayashi's eyes. The jounin's first instinct was that the man appeared far more dangerous than the regular pirates around him - is this their leader? - and therefore should be dealt with with equal measures of care and totality. Feeling the beginnings of a thrill rise in him at the coming fight, Hayashi grinned slightly and put his hands together to begin another set of handseals, but the man darted forwards with alarming speed. Surprised, Hayashi quickly abandoned his intended fireball and instead wove a quicker, different technique, and moved his right hand down to the hilt of his sword as the man closed in, weapon already raised...

Fanho's clone's side was almost entirely decimated with a few stragglers struggling to stand on their feet. Eyes blurred and watered from the fiery bright explosion. His clone quickly swept in unabated by their heavy arms swinging with the poorly guided intent to kill. He made quick work by slashing an artery in the first ones thigh pushing him away as he bled out within minutes. The second made an attempt with an axe swing via their katana, but was met with a ripping sound to the tendon in one of their biceps as his arm quickly became useless. He next lodged the blade of his kunai deep in the bandits throat before snapping his neck. After he had been done making quick work of his side he glanced over at his sensei's side seeing that one of the pirates had hidden talents that would provide issues to the two. He had faith in his teacher, but the clone and real Fanho dashed across to his location to provide backup if necessary.
The big burly man closed in on Hayashi quickly as he raised his weapon before bring it down at an angle, transitioning into a spin as he turned into a whirlwind of a defiantly sharp edge capable of slicing trees down with his monstrous strength. He quickly closed the gap between himself and Hayashi, attempting to bisect the Jounin. At this point the big burly man after making his attempt to halve the Jounin literally, he'd attempt for an over the head swing downwards for halving once more as if performing fractions. Attempting to whittle away the elder Jounin's strength and stamina. While large, burly, he was certainly quick and better than the average pirate. He'd provide a certain challenge for the two, and was one that'd need a tactful approach to confront. But with the two's combined efforts, they'd be able to overcome this quite literal mountain.
The night was still young, and the duo had one more bridge to go. Fanho's chakra reserves holding enough for the last battle and then some after this bridge. He hoped his older sensei could keep up with him, and smash out the rest of the task. This was hardly an easy mission, but one trusted to the two that they were more than capable of handing. After all it was just like old times working together in tandem, without missing a beat even when the plans changed on the fly. The two worked well being able to weave and intermingle their abilities to better enhance their odds. It made Fanho wish the two worked together more frequently. After all they were both in ANBU, both capable high ranking shinobi in the village, but Hayashi was a teacher. Fanho was trying to make it out as a leader amongst his peers, but perhaps he should dabble in his teacher's profession to better his leading skills. Hayashi could teach Fanho a thing or two, and this would satisfy Fanho's urge to work closer in tandem with his sensei.

Hayashi fixed his eyes to the large swordsman as the man charged forwards and began his strike. Despite the darkness, the jounin could easily appreciate his opponent's skill; his speed was impressive, and his balance impeccable as he spun into his swing. But the pirate wasn't the only one who knew how to handle a weapon. Hayashi stepped forward, closing the distance between the two by a pace to throw off the man's aim-point, and tensed his right hand over the hilt of his own weapon while his left circled the top of the saya, ready and waiting. At the perfect moment he flicked the weapon free with his left thumb and seized the hilt, and in at the same moment as drawing it, forced the pre-moulded katon chakra into the blade. The weapon burst alight seemingly from nothingness as it left its sheath. The draw was perfect, and Hayashi's weapon danced amid a sea of sparks as it arced upwards and clashed against that of the pirate, scattering flames in the air between them and illuminating the two combatants in the night. For a fleeting moment, fear reflected in his opponent's eyes.

The man began to react, but Hayashi was already shifting ahead of him. The thrill was rising in the old soldier's veins, driving him almost instinctively towards the fight. This was his element. As the pirate tried to move his sword, Hayashi twisted his own and deftly diverted his opponent's in the same motion as stepping forward and getting within the man's reach. A simple slash could have ended it there, but the pirate finally got hold of himself and leapt backwards away from the strike. Hayashi didn't waste a moment in pressing his advantage, immediately moving into a versatile stance and seamlessly launching forward into a vicious, three-strike flurry to deguard and overwhelm his opponent…

Drawn by the unavoidable clamour of the two ninja, the remaining pirates in the camp responded and surged towards the scene. Two came running from the ruins of the bridge, one limping and bloodied but still very much a threat. Two more came running from around the inner perimeter of the camp that was quickly catching flame from the adjoining gates. A fifth figure, this one female, peeked from beside a nearby tent, only appearing when the other four took Fanho’s attention. By chance or by silent intention, all six surged around Fanho and cut him off from running to help Hayashi, trapping the younger ninja on all sides. There, the four men drew an assortment of weapons and charged inwards, cries almost drowning out the flurry of steel from the fighting swordsmen nearby. The final pirate, a woman, reached to a pouch of slender knifes at her waist, cradled one against her palm with a thumb, and watched carefully for her chance to strike…

The large burly pirate played on the defensive as he saw Hayashi dart forward with such a speed. The only way was not to attack directly, but throw the shinobi off guard. He slammed his cleaver into the ground which began to heave the ground into chunks causing a decent vibration off of it enough to unsteady the most well balanced people. It was a mountain shattering moment, but the burly pirate hoped it'd throw the older shinobi off enough to provide him an opening. After all he'd come in dragging the blade across the ground before sling it upwards in a cloud of dust and one-hundred percent cleaving motion attempting to bisect the shinobi.

Fanho gave a grin towards his clone as the men made what he saw a feeble attempt to take him down. Admired their courage, but it was all for no use. The clone and Fanho began to glow blue as they both shot off a repulse that launched everything around them with such a strength that it ripped most of the walls off of the nearby buildings. If anything it'd send them flying into the ravine or into a building it'd knock them out. The clone and Fanho however would be left standing the repulse in the direction of each other canceling out. If any of them would still be standing, Fanho presumed the crafty female with the sharp pointed knives. She seemed like an odd one out.

"I'd ask if I swept you all off your feet, but it speaks for itself I am quite the suave man." He grinned from ear to ear as his clone rolled his eyes. With a "Pfffft-" the clone was off to make a better joke to one up his real counterpart. "Suave? I'd say our stand-up show really knocked 'em dead!" The real Fanho now rolling his similarly. If only the clone wasn't actually a clone, he wasn't sure if he could stand his own jokes coming from..... well himself. None-the-less Fanho took in the damage he did still on edge waiting to see if any would get up, or would have made a counter attack. If not his next step would be to back Hayashi up.

While the pirate was certainly strong and fast physically, the same apparently could not be said for his mind. With Hayashi already pressing his attack, the man decided to try and counter by striking at the ground instead. While his attempt worked, shattering the ground around them and sending out a violent shockwave that would push Hayashi back a few metres, the obvious side-effect was that he’d dropped his guard while the expert jounin was already mid-strike against him. Hayashi’s initial slash was only meant to knock aside the man’s sword… But with his sword already diverted in its downward strike, Hayashi’s attack instead cut deeply into the pirates torso, opening him from right hip to left shoulder before the jounin was pushed back by the shockwave.

It wasn’t a fatal strike, but it was enough to make the rest of the fight a foregone conclusion. Blood rapidly soaked through the pirate’s clothes and began leaking in a heavy stream, and the man would likely struggle to use his left arm for his swordplay. What’s more, he had underestimated Hayashi’s own competance; he was experienced enough in combat to not lose his footing. As soon as the jounin landed, he darted back in to continue his assault. The pirate was on the defensive now - and being wounded, it was only a matter of time ‘til he took a fatal hit.

Hayashi’s sword lanced directly towards the pirate as he once again closed into range, but at the last moment he shifted the angle of the attack and used his sword to hook away the pirate’s sword, attempting to disarm the wounded man. If he succeeded, a follow-up slash would be all it took to behead him, swiftly and cleanly in a single strike.

The female pirate kept her cool as a sudden shockwave of energy sent her comrades flying. Several slammed into structures and slumped unconscious to the floor, others were simply flung away and ended up as heaps in the darkness. Only one, having been caught in the fabric of a tent, managed to shakily regain his footing. He wouldn’t be much match for the ninja and his clone; it was up to her. A moment after the shockwave, her hand darted to her waist and drew four knives, and she threw them in one expert motion. Two flew directly towards Fanho and his clone - one to each - while the other span masterfully through the air, end over end as they flew in an arc and closed in on the two Fanho’s from either side.

While difficult to see in the darkness, the first two knives each bore black engravings, and as they reached their targets they erupted into vibrant balls of light; one was a flash tag, the other a conventional explosive tag. She hoped to blind and blast the pair into submission; but if that failed, the other two knives were aimed perfectly to claim the kill. With her weapons thrown, the female pirate turned and jumped up onto the outer wall of the camp - the part that wasn’t already burning, anyway - and turned to see if her attack bore any effect. She was quick, and deadly with her knives; but her target had already proven himself incredibly capable too. Her best bet would be to keep him defending at range.

The large burly man was durable if anything. This gouge to the chest would just be one of the many scars he'd boast during his life. "Tch, just a flesh wound." As the bandit ripped his blood stained shirt from his chest as he leveled his blade once more against the swordsman. The man's cleaver was nothing short but awe inspiring however for the weathered shinobi it was nothing more than a nuisance in-between him and his target. The large behemoth watched as the shinobi approached fast ready to swipe as with a feint the man's cleaver dashed to the side being launched into the creek below.

With lightning reflex and rage, the man ushered a kick to the shinobi's gut in utter flex that if connected would surely throw him back several meters. In tandem if everything in the man's rage came to fruition he'd follow up with several gut punches before a devastating upper cut designed to keep throwing the older samurai further back. He didn't aim to defeat the shinobi, he aimed to break the man with pure fear and strength. The blood dripped from the man's chest less frequently, but he had already lost quite a bit. At this point it'd be a time management game, or it'd need to be decided by the man's hands or Hayashi's blade.
Fanho watched as the men flung back all fell into submission or rather more so a slumber for eternity except for one which he easily dispatched with a kunai lodged deep in his chest with a flick of his fingers. Shortly after he could hear the whiz of blades flying towards his location as he took in the two knives from the front he quickly deduced where the knives had been thrown from. That much had been enough for Fanho to fly off the handles and take off the training wheels. The bandits were small time, this person was a skilled assassin not to be trifled with. However with all things, boys loved to play with fire. "Oooh, a new challenger approaches. Lets see if it pays off Cotton!"

Fanho darted to the right of the woman as his clone darted to the left leaving the blades to collide in the air with the resounding explosion and flash reaching far and wide. To Fanho however the light didn't bother him any, his doujutsu pierced the blinding rays with erase, and as did his clone who shared the same genetics just in a chakra mass'y sort of way. The young Awai quickly chased after the woman as he reached into his pouch pulling out a shuriken focusing a mass of raiton energy as it cracked between razor sharp edge to razor sharp edge before flinging the shuriken at the woman. Even if it had edged near her, he'd had hit his mark setting up for his next move.

He aimed to catch her off guard with the unsuspecting shock as he focused the swirling mass of chakra into the palm of his hand. The sweltering heat and blinding light pouring off into the surrounding landscape. If the lady had even looked his way, she'd be blinded momentary even further solidifying Fanho's maneuver. He'd drive the Volatile Rasengan into her abdomen before increasing the size to a large scale

Although Hayashi's second slash was quick, he did not anticipate the man's endurance or reaction speed. While he'd succeeded in disarming his foe easily, proving himself the superior swordsman, the man immediately lashed out with a powerful kick. However, Hayashi's combat training meant that he was always ready to take a blow; as the man kicked, Hayashi shifted one foot back slightly and bent that knee to absorb some of the power behind the strike, then leaned backwards a fraction upon the moment of impact. The result was that the kick shook him and sent a rush of pain throughout his body - but nothing more due to Hayashi's now-rigid stance. His instincts compelled him to expect follow-up attacks, and so he leaped backwards away from the flurry of gut-blows and the upper-cut.

During the moment of respite, Hayashi began forcing chakra down into his still-burning sword. The flames extinguished as the new technique took hold, and the blademaster held the weapon up and ready. Before the pirate could close the distance again, Hayashi performed a lightning-fast slash in the man's direction, and in the same stroke unleashed the explosive energy within his blade. A violent, conical blast erupted from the sword and engulfed the entire area around where the pirate was standing. At such short distance, and in combination with the earlier wound, it would be a miracle if anything of the man remained afterwards to identify.

The female survivor turned and fled as she watched the younger ninja, and his double, move immediately out of the way of her attack. The blasts from her first two daggers simply illuminated them from behind as they pinpointed her position - which meant it was time to move. She flashed looks over her shoulder towards her pursuers as she ran along the wall of the encampment, jumping clean through or around burning rubble. Thanks to that, she spotted the incoming shuriken and jumped off the wall, dodging the attack.

As she landed, she tore open a pouch attached to her hip and dozens of dull black metal fragments spilled onto the ground around her, setting a trap of caltops. While she'd dodged the shuriken, having to drop down from the wall meant she had to change direction. While she could run just as fast as the ninja, that would mean he could catch up and, worse, potentially flank her with his clone. Having set the foot-trap, she slammed a smoke canister down ontop to conceal the threat, then darted into the shadows of a nearby structure and quickly concealed herself, waiting, watching, and hoping that the headstrong young ninja would pass by without seeing her. In case that failed, she quietly pulled a thin tube from behind her back and began loading numerous small, sleek senbon into the launcher. It was less deadly than her knives, sure - but it was silent and shockingly accurate.

Rigid Core
B-Rank Taijutsu Manouevre
Applying the core principles of [Rigid Structure], the user is experienced in reacting to incoming strikes by making numerous minor adjustments to their body position and angle in order to greatly reduce the damage sustained by an incoming strike. This is possible so long as the user's (Taijutsu+Stamina)/2 is equal or greater than the opponent's (Speed+Strength)/2.

Combat Anticipation
C-Rank Taijutsu Manouevre
By focusing on their target and applying their extensive combat experience, the user is capable of seeing through intricate distractions and complex feint manouevres. Additionally, this helps the user keep track of a target despite partial sensory deprivation, including those moving at any speed up to or equal to the user's instinct.

Katon • Backlash
B-Rank Katon Nintaijutsu
After focusing a large amount of Katon chakra into a held weapon, the user prepares a powerful explosive blast timed to complement a slash. Best used when parrying an incoming strike, but also very viable as an attack in its own right, the user releases the chakra instantaneously at the moment of striking with their weapon, resulting in a fiery explosion with a strength of 4 explosive tags. This engulfs a conical volume aligned towards the target with the user at the origin, confining the blast to the area ahead and preventing the user from being caught in the radius. The cone of fire fills 8 metres in length, and at its widest point has a diameter of 8 metres.

The large boisterous brute beat his fists together. As he charged the Jounin full speed only running into his fiery death. With a leap he watched as the fiery blade consumed him turning his skin to bubbling burns the sheer force the explosion forced blood to seep from his ear drums and nose. Not only that, but the look of last minute terror as he realized the situation his brute attitude and anger had placed him. Haunting to those not used to combat.
Fanho grinned as the female assassin made her escape, but little did she know the secrets of his doujutsu. In-fact she had set-up the perfect opportunity for him. With the smoke laid down he could see through and watch as she darted in the shadows of a building. He'd play into her trap as best as he could to then out rank the assassin with her own dirty tricks. As he stepped forward into the smoke he purposefully stepped on a makibishi to play it off for real. "Agh, these little pine-cone traps hurt!" He shook he makibishi off of his foot, now watching his footing he was more careful dancing around them until he knew he came into her view. With a cough and a wipe across his brow he figured he'd up play the situation a bit more.

He murmured just loud enough so she could hear the desperation in his voice."Dammit, I can't see her." With hope she would fall into launching her senbon while his clone approached from the top of the building masking his movements with the sound of Fanho yelling about the makibishi and him being desperate to find her. If all had gone well, and she had shot her senbon like Fanho hoped. The clone would drop down on top of her, rasengan in hand, digging it deep into her chest, while the real Fanho would hop back dodging the senbon.

After the user has began to channel chakra to their hand a blue ball of spinning rotating chakra appears in their hand no larger than the size of a basketball. The Rasengan is a concentrated ball of fast rotating chakra in the palm of the user's hand. The only downside to this jutsu is that it requires the Rasengan to remain in the user's hand. This is the advanced version of the Runt Rasengan, and is typically reserved for higher level ninja.

Hayashi grimaced as the pirate died in his own personal inferno. The blade tore a wicked slash across the man's torso before the blast erupted outwards, into the exposed flesh of his body and beyond, before the intense heat of the flames consumed the fragments that remained. The adrenaline of the fight winked out in an instant, leaving the lone swordsman quiet and sombre. Flicking the remnants of the man from his sword, he sheathed it in a smooth motion, hesitated for a single moment in respect for a fallen foe, then turned and began to seek out his student.

The assassin waited, poised to shoot, as Fanho entered her trap. She hesitated only a moment - conscious that only one of the two identical ninja was before her - before firing. It was this or continue running; she stood a better chance at that if she could kill or maim one of the targets. She released a held breath as she pulled a mechanical trigger and sent a wave of a dozen senbon shooting into the cloud of smoke, concentrated directly on the foolish Konoha shinobi dancing around there across her spikes.
After firing, she turned to change position or escape, one hand moving to reload the high-speed launcher, when Fanho's clone descended upon her. The swirling orb of chakra churned into her chest, flaying aside flesh and biting into her sternum as she let out a piercing scream, then began to choke as blood welled up and flowed in pulses from her mouth and torso...

Fanho turned his head away from the gruesome scene as his cloned disappeared. Obviously with the clone gone he had the image burned in his head now, but he at least didn't want to relish in the aftermath. The young Chuunin danced his way back out of the makibishi minefield narrowly avoiding piercing his own feet. He began to seek out his mentor so they could move onto the final bridge. The final encampment should've posed as a breeze for the two. It was easily the smallest, and would've been the easier out of the three to tear down. Hell Fanho was capable of ripping it down with his bear fists.

He began to wander to where the large wave of flames had flushed over an area, that's where he figured he'd find his mentor. "Ready to create our season finale? They're always typically supposed to ramp up at the end anyways." He gave a playful shrug as a grin grew on his face. He wasn't one to let his spirit be killed that was for sure. The young Awai ushered a thumbed gesture towards the direction of the last camp as he awaited any sort of analytics from Hayashi. "I'm thinking they're gonna up security, but as long as we can get the bridge we should be in the clear." He narrowed his eyes in the way of the camp. If it was as rough as this last one, they'd be fighting for a while. And as for their chakra and physical stamina they'd need to preserve what they could.

Hayashi cast a gaze across the remains of the camp around them, letting his eyes take in the littered corpses, the burning walls and destroyed gates, and the smoking ruin of the bridge, before nodding.

"Ready. I'd say we're done here. The rest we can leave to the crows and the winds. Nobody will be return here for a long while." While calm, he sounded a bit more sombre than his student, who he was surprised to see seemed to be relishing in their brutal display. While Hayashi was no stranger to enjoying the thrill of a fight, much of their word today had been more butchery than actual battle. "I can see you need a little more to sate your appetite. Let's move."

Keeping an eye out as he moved, Hayashi led them out of the camp and away, retracing their earlier route. Now that darkness had come they didn't need to concern themselves as much about moving stealthily, and they could close the distance to their final target with impressive speed.

They arrived at the final bridge a short while later, crouching low to the ground and approaching under the cover of darkness until they were only a few hundred metres away from the edge of the camp. A few small fires and torches within the ring of tents threw up shadows and silhouettes all around, making the camp visible as well as impairing the night vision of those within. More interestingly, a second set of lamps hung in the air in the direction of the bridge, but a little further along the river. Hayashi paused and squinted at it, tracing the dark lines revealed in the flickering firelight.

"That's... a vessel. A small ship, moored to the side of the bridge." he shifted and turned to look at Fanho. "Susaku scouted this camp thoroughly earlier, and pointed out all manner of traps and warning systems that the men had set up. I guess we were right when we presumed the seven men that he saw were just scouts. Maybe we should have struck then, while they were vulnerable." His face looked grim, and he knew that the final fight ahead of them wasn't going to be as simple as it should've been.

"I can't tell exactly how many are there now, but it's definitely more than the seven we saw earlier. With those traps, too, we'll have to be careful in our approach; they may try funnel us into one area and surround us."

Fanho scanned over the camp as he noticed the littering of campfires and tents pitched over the area. If earlier was any notice they'd want to defend this last bridge with all of their forces. With coordination Fanho and Hayashi would be able to take down the bridge. Maybe not the entirety of the forces that still remained here, but at least get the bridge taken care of would complete their objective. "With the increase in force they know were coming so most of their traps I imagine are centered near the bridge aside from those set earlier." As long as they were able to strike the bridge from a distance that should give them the room to be able to avoid those traps. "This is also the weakest bridge so its the easiest to take down. All we have to do is launch a barrage of artillery."

"I imagine we can't lure them away from the bridge, they seem very centered on it and wouldn't budge if we tried. Any ideas sensei?"

”You’re probably right, but I expect that the perimeter will be strongly defended and watched, also. They’d need to leave a path across the bridge for their own use, and maybe up to the camp itself, but I doubt we could find it in the dark before they saw us.”

Watching carefully, Hayashi tried to gauge how far any of the sentries would be able to see in the darkness. The small spheres of torchlight reached a good distance, and was assisted now by a bright moon overhead as the cloud cover was began to ease. ”…Not great conditions to sneak up,” he grunted, then pointed to the bank of the river closest to them, ”But if we move up under cover of the bank, we could probably get to within… eighty metres? What do you think, can we reliably strike from there?” While he had a few techniques himself that would manage the distance, he didn’t know what Fanho’s arsenal could offer - and for such a large target, they’d need to combine their strength if they were going to capitalise on a quick destruction.

”I want to destroy that ship, also. There’s no use us destroying these bridges if they can still ferry men around freely.” He surveyed what he could make out of the river from such a distance, then pointed a little upstream away from them. ”…There. We should move the ship to where the river thins around that bend, and scuttle her across the flow, to block any further traffic coming this way. And better make sure she can’t be salvaged, too.”

”Which makes me concerned about striking with artillery… There’s a chance that at the first sign of an attack, that ship will haul anchor and flee - and then we have a chase on our hands, if not an army if they manage to get away.” He waited for a moment as he weighed their options. ”Let’s get down to the river for now and see how close we can get. Maybe we can repeat our earlier tactic and get in from underwater, and take them by surprise from inside.”

But only a short time later Hayashi thrust out a hand to stop Fanho from moving, as the ground within two hundred metres of the bridge was littered with countless traps. Tripwires and half-buried canisters stuck up every few paces, as well as sharpened punji stakes, shallow pits, and even occasional animal traps that had been improvised to increase their lethality against human-sized targets. Instead of approaching the bridge directly Hayashi cut straight towards the river and quietly slipped into it, but soon after returned to the shore and shook his head, waving Fanho over and pointing to a well concealed line on the ground that stretched away into the night. It was a coarse brown strip of fabric covered with black marks and twisting symbols.

”I didn’t expect this - fuuinjutsu.” Hayashi grimaced, and nodded towards the water. ”It even runs along the riverbed, and away in a wide arc - I assume it’s all around the perimeter of the town. In the water you can just see a shimmering field rising above it. It doesn’t look like a physical barrier, but it must be there for a purpose. Do you recognise it?” Since his student was nowadays more apt with intricate ninjutsu than he was, Hayashi deferred to Fanho for his opinion on the fuuinjutsu barrier. "I don't know how, but they must've had a skilled ninjutsu user on that ship. This changes things... We have to eliminate him, too, or this country could devolve into a much bloodier conflict."

Fanho listened intently as Hayashi went over the details of the plan. As Hayashi uttered the words eighty meters, Fanho's heart sunk a bit. He was widely skilled, but he was more of an upfront fighter able to deal a lot of damage with quick pacing attacks. Any attacks he had for a distance were charged bunker busters. He followed behind Hayashi as they came around, he nodded in agreement at destroying the boat. It'd be easy to cause the boat to sink, and initiate an attack on the bridge all at once. "Unless you want me making a hundred meter hole out of this place, I don't think we should." First and foremost they had to corner this ninjutsu user putting fuuin traps over the place. However it seemed like a very rudimentary trap.

"It definitely just looks like an alarm system, nothing too intricate. See the trick with Fuuin is when you destroy it, it still activates especially if its a trip wire like this. Easiest thing to do?" A grin crept out of Fanho's mouth as he funneled large amounts of a midnight blue hue of chakra to his hand. The energy made a light hum as Fanho's hand made contact with the strip of brown fabric as it instantly disappeared into dust disappearing in the wind, fuuinjutsu and all. Its existence wiped away entirely from ever existing. "Just erase it from existence." With a shrug and a wide eyed grin. "Or ya'know... Don't trip it?" With one of the tags down it should take down the whole barrier, which hopefully it wouldn't be made apparent that it was down after all it shouldn't have triggered anything just erase it as if it had never happened or deactivate it in a non-violent and alerting way.

Hayashi, even with all his long years of experience as a shinobi, was startled by Fanho's casual use of a technique that seemed to simply erase - without a trace - part of the fuuinjutsu barrier infront of them.

"What was that?" He whispered, eyebrows raised in shock. "I've never heard of a technique that can just--" he raised a fist and splayed it wide, imitating the barrier simply 'poof'ing away without a trace, "-- and without even triggering the trap. You're just full of surprises, aren't you, kid?" He regained some composure and offered a faint smile, then turned back to examine the new path through the barrier. The gap in the fuuin array was easily large enough for them to slip through, and thus continue their approach to the camp.

Once safely past the alarm he turned again to the river, hoping to use it to get right into the camp - or to its edge, at least - and minimize their risk of detection while also bypassing the excessive amount of ground traps. He slipped into the water and slowly let himself drift, silently, further into the flow where it ran deep enough to submerge oneself by a couple of metres. In the darkness, that would be more than enough to keep them hidden.

Swimming slowly so as to cause as little disturbance as possible, he closed the distance to the camp until he judged that he'd arrived. The outline of the ship's hull loomed near ahead, confirming his position, and he positioned himself in the dark shadow of the ship before tentatively sticking his head above the surface to look around. Immediately upon surfacing he noticed a strong smell of pine-tar in the air, an acrid scent of pitch that seemed to hang in the air. The ship was still moored against the side of the bridge, the supports of which stood within easy reach of his position. But their hidden position also limited their view of the camp around them outside of these two objectives.

Assuming Fanho followed, Hayashi would switch from spoken communication to the sign-language recognisable only by trained members of Konohagakure's ANBU. Strictly speaking he shouldn't acknowledge that he knew his former student was a member by using the code-language while they were unmasked - but the present situation called for such measures.
'We rig the bridge first, then scale the ship here,' he signed, indicating upwards to show how where they could scale the shaded side of the ship and have much of their climb concealed by the nearby bridge. 'We get on and silence anyone on board, then cut the ship loose and use jutsu to blast the bridge and trigger the explosive tags as soon as we drift out of range. We leave a clone on the ship to sail it to the river bend and destroy it as loudly as possible as a distraction. Meanwhile we slip back into the water and wait here as the camp's attention is taken to the ship or the bridge - we emerge when their ninjutsu user reveals himself, and take him out as a priority.'

With that, he waited for Fanho to respond or begin.

Fanho gave a gleaming smile, proud to be able to still surprise his sensei with a trick up his sleeve always. He followed Hayashi as they slipped through the hole in the fuuinjutsu array. In the same way Hayashi slipped into the water so quietly and slowly, Fanho followed suit dipping one foot in slowly while lowering his entire body in at the same pace as to not draw attention or create sound. As he was fully submerged all but his head, Fanho began to angel dive down as he submerged himself down a few meters along side Hayashi. With the two's abnormal stamina they could hold their breaths for minutes as they were stuck under the water slowly swimming along to not disturb or cause unwanted attention.

Fanho surfaced along side Hayashi as he lifted only his nose just above the surface to breath lightly. He paid attention as Hayashi performed hand signs to signify code words in an unspoken language between ANBU agents. It was very clear the message, and the plan he had set forth. Fanho gave a solemn nod as to not create a splash before he dived once again swimming closer back towards the bridge. As he reached the bridge he slowly surfaced once more channeling chakra to his fingers and feet to cling to the wall. He slowly scaled it as he reached the bridge and began to plant explosive tags on the key supports of the bridge. As he counted his reserves he only carried one extra explosive tag left.

He'd turn around to Hayashi as he'd sign back to him, Planted the tags, returning now. Fanho slowly crawled his way back down to the water as he once again slipped in a cloak of water slowly drifting under as he paddled his way back towards the boat. The young Jounin threw up a thumb of approval as he slowly clung to the ship making his way up, presumably with Hayashi. Once aboard he'd follow Hayashi's lead on the next move of taking out the ship crew.

Since Fanho took the lead in planting the tags on the bridge, Hayashi turned his attention to the side of the ship. Instead of doing as his student had and coating his hands and feet in chakra to ease the ascent, Hayashi opted for the more straightforward approach of simply climbing. The bottom of the vessel was slick, but a moment of scouting with eyes and fingers still revealed a few thin points of purchase where seams in the wood presented very small edges. Once above the waterline the climb was much easier, with plenty of decoration and less-slick wood to use as handholds, and within a few seconds he'd pulled himself silently onto the deck of the ship.

It was a small vessel, designed for swift river and coast trading—probably an opportunistic seizure from an unlucky merchant, rather than a purpose-built craft—but nontheless would be large enough to ferry large groups of men over short distances. From his position near the bow he could see only two figures on the main deck. One stood with a long lantern-pole on the poop deck, and another stood at the top of a gangplank connecting the ship to the adjacent bridge. A third man stood on the other side of the plank, guarding entry from the bridge's side.

These three, for now, he ignored. To his left a simple chain ran from the top deck into the water below, where an anchor kept the ship stationary. Hayashi quickly drew an explosive tag of his own and wrapped it around a link in the chain near the top, ready to detonate at a moment's notice and free the ship from its berth. It didn't matter to him if the blast took some of the deck with it too. With that done he slipped quietly down a nearby hatch into the ship's interior. The ladder inside took him all the way to the lowest deck, which was largely occupied with by a central storage hold, currently empty.

He checked that deck quickly, but found no one and nothing of interest so promptly returned to the ladder and climbed back to the middle deck. This one was filled with a half dozen closed cabins and a couple of side rooms, with a large hatch across the middle of the area that would allow access to the hold below. Waving Fanho over and pointing at one row of cabins along one wall, Hayashi approached the second row on the other side, intending to silently search each room and dispatch anyone inside without raising an alarm...

Fanho followed behind Hayashi as they climbed the boat, his mentor opting for a more physical approach while Fanho preferred a more ninjutsu approach. The coated chakra allowed Fanho to stick to the site with minimal sound, similarly his sensei's skills and years of experience allowed him to make the climb with much ease. At the top he followed Hayashi's lead as he kept watch over the elder Jounin's placement of an explosive tag before they dispatched to the bowels of the ship. From there it would be a quick room to room service of each and every pirate. Not the pleasant kind of service, more so the end of the line nap time service.

In one of the cabins that was empty Fanho investigated. He had discovered papers with maps of the canal, choke points, and maps of the forest around these bridges. It had appeared this siege was planned weeks in advance, for pirates not used to assaulting shores it made sense they had planned this out. Otherwise they would've failed as soon, and navigated sinking their ships off the shallow shores. However Fanho noticed he was overlooking things as he turned around in the room he thought he was alone in there was a pirate asleep in a chair by the corner right behind the door. With a quick flick of a kunai he was dispatched, but it sent an eerily shiver down his spine knowing he'd made such a careless mistake.

He moved down the line dispatching what awaited in the cabins, and moving past the ones that didn't have anyone in their rooms. He had a nagging feeling he was forgetting something, but he couldn't quite place his finger on what he had forgotten. He attempted to shake the feeling of doubt from his mind, but it didn't just disappear, he had to forcibly ignore it. However dividing his attention made him less attentive as he moved to regroup with his sensei.

The first cabin Hayashi slipped into was occupied with a pair of double bunks, though only two of the four beds were filled.  Moving carefully and quietly, he approached the first sleeping form, drew a kunai, and selected a point at which to strike.  The figure was lying facing away from him, breathing softly and steadily up until the point that his weapon sank into the base of their skull with a soft, wet thud.  The second sleeper followed swiftly afterwards, this one with an opened throat and a silent, fruitless gurgle.  He hesitated as he reached the doorway back to the hall, freezing in place for a moment before slowly turning back to the room.  Both of those bodies were women, he realised, though the fact hadn’t registered at the time.  That was… worrying.  After a moment, though, he shook himself and turned back to the task at hand; missing such a detail was unheard of for him, but it was a problem to consider another time.

The next cabin held only a single man, awake but distracted by something on the desk infront of where he sat.  He looked up in alarm as light from the hallway spilled into the cabin when Hayashi opened the door.  He started to stand, turning to the intruder and opening his mouth to shout just as Hayashi’s kunai—still bearing the blood of its two previous victims—landed between his eyes.  The force of the thrown weapon sent him spiralling around, body going limp as it crashed back into the desk and splintering the spindly chair.  Hayashi winced at the noise, quickly closing the door and giving the cabin a once-over.  Neither the desk nor the rest of the cabin held anything beyond personal items, though.

He returned to the hallway of the middle deck just as Fanho finished clearing the last of the cabins.  Perhaps, in that case, the ruckus of his third kill hadn’t been heard.

”Okay.  Good.” He cleaned the blood from his recovered weapon and returned it to its pouch before performing a set of simple hand seals.  A moment later and the air beside the jounin shimmered and coalesced into a single copy of him.  He gave the clone some simple instructions and another explosive tag, telling it to hide for a time until the ship was clear of hostiles, then to take the helm and sail it to the river bend before detonating a hole in the hull and scuttling it to block the passage inland to any further river traffic.

With the ship prepared, Hayashi gave Fanho a nod and indicated towards the ladders leading back up to the upper deck.  A few guards still remained up there, and he hoped to dispatch at least those few more before blowing the bridge and raising hell…

Fanho watched as his mentor created a clone to become a stow away as the other two finished their assault on the boat. With the instructions set, the only thing left to do was take care of the rest of the bandits on the boat. Blow the bridge, and keep moving forward decimating the bandit camp at the last bridge. Fanho slowly walked up the steps. With each step he scanned the area around him intently, but however got caught up with watching so much he glazed over a guard right next to the steps that gasped as he came up. Fanho quickly with a lunge of his hand throat jabbed the bandit to cause him to hush up before he quickly twisted his neck as a pop occurred the bandit slumping in Fanho's arms.

With a light grunt Fanho laid him behind some barrels of which Fanho himself posted behind scanning the top of the boat counting the bandits that stood around. It appeared there were more on the deck of the ship than they had originally scanned. The rookie mistakes weren't adding up, and the fact they had overlooked so much for two shinobi with instincts and visual prowess greater than nearly anyone else. Fanho counted around ten on the deck now, all luckily preoccupied. One guarding the plank, another guarding the helm of the ship by the wheel smoking a cigarette. Three playing cards around a lantern on the port side of the boat. One of the ten Fanho had just given a very intimate neck massage to. One over the side puking into the river, which disgusting considering Fanho and Hayashi had just been swimming in it.

Grimace aside, Fanho continued his double over the ship as he counted the last three grouped around the one puking attempting to console their drunk pirate friend. He'd look over at Hayashi before nodding for him to grab the starboard side, and Fanho would strike the port side getting the card players, plank guard, and helm of the ship boat captain. With a quick wisp of Fanho's jacket he moved quickly, but low to the ground to avoid making large amounts of noise. He went off by flipping two shuriken into two of the card players head as a sickening thud tore the silent grumble of the third getting frustrated with the game before Fanho lunged with a kunai piercing through his neck.

With a furrowing of the eye brows Fanho made eye contact with the plank guard who watched as the crimson sunk through the boards into the decks below, knowing little of the slaughter that awaited down there. A quick flash of Fanho's bright grey eyes was the last thing passing through the plank guard's thoughts before a quick flick of the wrist slit his throat open Fanho whisking by hopping up top of the boat captain's help jabbing him in the throat before ducking under a lazily, in pain right hook, and then sinking his kunai in the base of the boat captain's head. The pop of grey matter leaking with blood spraying the back wall as Fanho quickly step backed to watch his sensei's work as well. Fanho had finished his own side in one quick ballet.

Hayashi breathed a sigh of relief as Fanho’s quick reactions saved them from the alerted guard at the top of the stairs.  It was a close call, but perhaps unavoidable given where they’d emerged from the bowels of the ship.  He followed his once-student onto the deck and then paused again, shocked, as he too counted the number of guards now visible on the ship.  Had all these men just arrived?  No...  That card game is well underway, the players deep into their cups, and several of the others have the dull expressions of bored watchmen who’ve been at their posts for hours… His brow furrowed.  This, they’d both missed.  In addition to his lack of care below deck, too, there was definitely cause for concern.  Fanho himself seemed shocked as well, but the lad recovered quickly and set about the obvious task ahead.

As Fanho took the port side, Hayashi directed his attention starboard.  All four of his targets were gathered around the gunwhale as they supported their drunken comrade, still retching into the dark water below.  It was a simple enough task to approach quietly from one side, keeping low and in the shadows, until Fanho made his first strike.  At the first noise—the wet thunk of shuriken meeting flesh—Hayashi thumbed free the hilt of his sword, then stood, drew, and struck all in one seamless motion.  Two heads and two bodies froze, cloven with such precision that they seemed untouched until they began to fall, separately, to the deck.  Without wasting a movement, Hayashi spun his blade and pierced the third man through the chest from behind, sliding directly through his heart.

The last man, the drunk, wavered on unsteady feet now that his three supports were gone.  Hayashi dispatched him with an almost casual swipe, opening his throat even as the drunk toppled towards the deck.  Just as he wiped the blood from his blade and moved to sheath it, a loud cry of alarm rose from the bridge as Fanho ran towards his last target.

For all their counting, they hadn’t considered the guards on the bridge itself.  One of them—the one Hayashi now remembered spotting earlier, on the far side of the gangplank to guard it from the side of the bridge—let out a loud yell as he watched the two ninja slaughter seven men between them in a heartbeat.  Two more guards on the bridge turned and raised the alarm just as Fanho dispatched the captain.  The three witnesses, assessing the slaughter, then turned and ran for support.  The man at the gangplank ran to one side, while the other two guards on the bridge fled towards the opposite shore.

Hayashi groaned, then locked eyes with Fanho and nodded.  He formed a single ‘kai’ seal with a hand and triggered the tag on the anchor chain, causing a sudden burst of light and fire as the charge detonated.  The ship lurched, and after a pair of thrown kunai to cut through the ropes tying the vessel off, the ship began to drift away from the bridge.
He ducked behind a set of crates on the deck as cover, and waited.  As soon as they were out of the blast range they’d need to detonate the bridge, and then try and escape into the water without being seen, so that the moving ship would draw the attention of the camp…

Fanho watched as he dove for his last target, the guttural scream of a drunken mercenary filled the lingering night air. As Hayashi's tags exploded the anchor, Fanho noticed the casual drifting of the boat carrying it away. As his sensei ducked behind crates, Fanho stood on top at the back of the boat watching as they floated farther away from the bridge. Keeping an eye on the right time to explode the bridge, and to watch out for any incoming arrows or bombs to explode the boat. It would be just as harmful to detonate the bridge within distance just as it would be to take a bomb straight to the hull. Albeit for the two shinobi, they'd survive, but for their plan to use it as a diversion would require the boat to survive. As they drifted away just coming right into the perfect distance to escape the tags, Fanho channeled chakra to his tags on the bridge before making a finger gun. "Boom!" He grinned as the explosion rocked the ship slightly, causing large waves to batter the ship as the debris tanked into the water. The bridge also took some of the mercenaries with it.

The young Awai nodded to his sensei as he sprinted quickly to the front of the ship under the guise of one of the mast's shadows he quickly dove into the water with a wonderful swan dive spinning around to ensure his sensei was following behind closely. With a hand guide to his sensei before Fanho dove below the water he swam down to the underside of the boat placing his legs on the end to give it a hefty kick back towards the bridge so the camp could get distracted by it. Fanho would follow Hayashi's lead next as they swap a bit further up stream giving the boat time to drift back. From there the climb up the cliff side was easy, the grip slightly slippery, but for their inhuman strength all it required was a bit of grit to dig his hands into the literal earth giving himself a grip.

From there they'd be on the cliff side able to make their way back to the camp to blow the ship, and disparage any left over mercenaries.

[PB] Hazzardous: Torrential Waters Below

The bridge erupted into a fireball for a split second, shattering into thousands of splinters and chunks as the explosives detonated. The ship rocked violently, pushed first by the shockwave of the blast and then by the surging waters as the river too absorbed the force. While all eyes in the camp were directed towards the blast, Hayashi slipped quietly from his cover on the deck of the ship and vaulted over the far side, using the retreating vessel as cover from the light of the burning remnants of the bridge. In the ship’s shadow, he slipped below the surface of the water and followed Fanho to the downstream shore.

After emerging from the water, he shook his head as a strange feeling—or, as he quickly realised, a feeling of normality—came to him. The strange scent was gone from the air here, and the freshness of the night, even marred as it was now with smoke, brought clarity to his head. At once he remembered all the foolish mistakes they’d been making during this infiltration so far; the many other people on the ship’s deck that he’d missed the first time, and again with the guards on the bridge who’d raised the alarm, along with several instances of noise and clumsiness that were simply unlike him. Unlike any trained ninja. It was beyond simple carelessness.

”Hold on, lad.” He held out a hand to stop Fanho before they resumed their assault. “Something inside that camp is… off. I couldn’t realise it until now, but I think there’s a technique at play that clouds our judgement, making us careless.” Were the guards all affected, too? Are there limits to what the technique can make you miss, or are they protected from it somehow? “That makes me all the more certain there’s someone there who has been trained as a ninja. He’s our priority target now that the bridge has been blown. Considering the barrier around the camp as well, he may not be the sort of opponent who charges at us and fights openly. Be ready.”

By now, a row of archers had scrambled to the shore and had just begun peppering the deck and sides of the retreating ship with flaming arrows. So far, none of them had caught—though little did they know that the ship would soon enough meet its own end at the hand of his stowaway clone. Just a little further, at the bend in the river, the clone should pitch the vessel sideways and complete its sabotage, scuttling it and blocking the river in the same move.

Since the archers were focused there and not on the looking for them, as hoped, Hayashi began moving in a low run back towards the camp. He beckoned Fanho over and pointed at a point on the edge of the same fuuinjutsu line they’d crossed last time. ”Can you repeat that disrupting jutsu you used before?”
With that done he’d follow Fanho through. With the bridge destroyed, burning fragments and embers were raining down across the camp, giving an eerie half-life to the whole area.

Fanho approached the Fuuin line as he waved his hand over it, the color of dark purple emanating over the fuuin as it faded from existence. "He's probably got a lot more in the camp than just this." As they ducked in a bush giving one last overview before pushing in, Fanho glanced towards Hayashi. "I think one of us will have to play bait. This guy isn't just gonna come out and attack us. He knows were two strong up close fighters. I have another card hidden up my sleeve I think will make this a little easier." Fanho ran through his own personal sensory jutsu he created that'd allow him to detect the guy, or anything he attempted to throw at them.

"He's certainly here, where specifically I can't say. This guy doesn't seem like he wants to fight up-close though. Let's just play whack-a-mole and see if we can pin this dork. I have a jutsu I can use to detect him if he tries to catch our six." Fanho darted out as he slung two kunai at the archers before slipping through the legs of the third, performing a kip up as he grabbed the man's ankles slamming him down on the forth killing the two on impact. If the genjutsu user was here, he'd be attempting to slip behind and through or throwing projectiles. Fanho presumed he wasn't that strong up close so the best thing to do would be to essentially bombard the area with his chakra to detect any and all that were moving through it. With Hayashi's movements in mind, Fanho could sift from the regular to the shinobi easily based on how fast they moved through the area. Fanho released a bombardment of chakra that over layed an area of 20m with light blue chakra giving a hazy look. The information was quite a load as he felt everything with this area and could see the enemies approaching behind allowing him to react with a backwards hook that knocked the mercenary clean off the cliff up stream in an unconscious.

With a ominous breeze and fog setting on the stage. It felt as if they were moving into another stage of this guys plan. With a whisk around he nodded towards Hayashi who ran off to depart his part of the enemies while Fanho rushed forward to deal with his own set. The two would soon turn this broken area into a blood bath.

Hayashi nodded and he followed Fanho over the broken line of fuuinjutsu, then ducked into the bush beside him. ”Right. Two of us, and one of him; he can’t ignore us forever. We’re on the offensive, after all. Do your thing when the ship blows, and I’ll take the perimeter.” He hung back a moment, allowing Fanho to get ahead as they crept steadily towards the edge of the town, then split off and moved in a different direction as his fellow saboteur readied himself. By now, the archers had succeeded in setting the retreating ship alight. The vessel reached the apex of the river bend, where the flow was narrowest, and suddenly turned sharply sideways. A gout of fire burst from one side, then another, and finally the vessel erupted into flame as the clone stowaway completed its final duty. A second later, Fanho launched his sudden attack on the archers, followed by his blue aura spreading outwards to engulf the camp. It’d be a beacon, both to the eyes and senses of their quarry.

Hayashi began to dash, moving to the far edge of the camp in the chaos of Fanho’s assault. How many had they already killed here, with the bridge, the ship, and now the archers? How many more could there be? The answer likely didn’t matter; only one real target remained. Hayashi ducked behind a small tent, drew his sword, and smoothly slashed through the fabric as a shadow on the inside. The blade emerged red, and the figure fell silently. He moved on, intercepting a group of three soldiers hurrying towards Fanho’s position, and dispatched them just as quickly and with as little fanfare. The first died before they even saw the shinobi, his head rolling free from his body. The second had time to turn before being almost bisected. The third managed to get a hand on the hilt of a sword and draw it a whole two inches before Hayashi’s katana took him through the heart.

The camp was small enough that Fanho’s aura engulfed almost its entirety, and Hayashi lurked in the tents beyond, slaughtering all he came across. And with few places left to hide, he soon found his target; a thin man, pale and lean, appeared out of the night before him. He smiled a chilling, too-white smile. Simultaneously, a second identical figure watched Fanho from a short distance behind the boy’s back…

As Fanho departed the archers a two of the pirates came with blemished katanas of moderate quality, and two spear men clearly hired with a decent purse of silver. However they were no match for Fanho's super human speed and strength as he drew his katana to meet the blade before using his free hand to grab the first pirate by the waist and hurtling him over at the first spear man knocking them off the cliff. The two remaining attempted to pincer move Fanho as he glanced at both before striking the ground causing the immediate area to quake knocking them off kilter giving him enough of an opening to jab the first in the throat crushing his windpipe as he choked to death, and kicking the second one crushing his rib cage impaling his lungs. With a glance around it seemed that all was quiet except for the three targets Fanho felt in his aura. He could tell Hayashi was one, but the other two we're ones he didn't recognize. They weren't the same body structure and type his sensei were. They were skinnier, more gaunt, and hollow than his sensei.

As Fanho's attention centered on the one watching him from behind, he turned around to face the figure. "If these pirates were saving the best for last, this is disappointing." Fanho quietly slipped the kunai back into its holster before positioning himself in a fighting position appropriate for what came next. The figure would be frightening to the untrained eye, and resided in the uncanny valley of being too skeletal to even be real. It appeared as if the skin was stuck straight to the bone with how gaunt this supposed person was. It certainly was befitting of someone who would align themselves with pirates.

The figure standing before Hayashi maintained his carefree smile as he spread his arms wide, snapped two fingers together, and vanished. Hayashi tensed and immediately shifted into a ready stance, sheathing his weapon and planting one foot forward, body twisted and ready to draw in any direction. This foe, as Fanho had pointed out, was not one for straightforward attacks. He focused inwards, listening and feeling his environment rather than trusting to his eyes alone. Was the man he saw the illusion, or was he himself now caught inside one? Did he retreat, or was this—?
His answer came in a frenetic burst of action. No less than six identical copies of his foe appeared around him at once, all armed, and all mid-swing from every direction. There was no moment of transition - one moment he was alone, and the next surrounded. Hayashi whipped his blade free and let the motion carry his arm in a wide arc, slashing backwards and around him defensively. His sword sang as it sliced through the air, deflecting weapons and pushing his assailants back even as they swarmed him from the other side. He gritted his teeth, adjusted his stance, and fought ever more wildly, his arms becoming a blur as his carving defied any logical pattern in the hope of keeping the group from gaining too much momentum against him. His sword tugged slightly as it crossed a neck here, a leg there, a wrist somewhere else. Soon he was sweating, and despite his masterful skill, growing concerned at the continuing onslaught. He ducked a fatal strike and pushed forward, barrelling into the attacker and rushing past him to free himself from the mess. His sword licked across the man’s gut as he passed, but when Hayashi turned, the man was standing unharmed among the group. The group of ten. In the lapse of combat they reorganised and fanned out before him. A man whose throat he’d opened moments before rubbed idly at where the wound had been even as a copy of him split off from his body. Soon there were twelve. All of them grinned wide, white smiles as they raised their weapons again. One began to giggle.

Meanwhile, the identical man watching Fanho put his hands together in a string of quick seals, then stepped back as a clone manifested infront of him. The clone rushed forward with a surprising burst of speed, closing in on Fanho while its master watched from the sidelines. The clone changed direction, skirting around Fanho and analysing him, darting backwards or aside from any movement the boy made. If he didn’t strike, it would grow bolder and push in, testing him with a jab, a sweep, a hook. All the while, its owner circled the area, keeping Fanho at a distance and watching carefully. He stopped to observe beside a smoldering tent, and as the clone pressed towards Fanho, the observer pulled out a handful of paper-tagged shuriken and sent them spinning towards the shinobi from three directions…

D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 5 Taijutsu, 8 Speed
With the most widely recognized attack of Iaido style, the user draws their katana at a very quick speed, making a powerful slash in tangent with the draw. This technique is dependent on the user's overall reaction speed as it is usually only used when an opening presents itself or when the user needs to draw their sword quickly.

As the man in-front of Fanho's hands sung a tale that Fanho knew all to well. Clones to be exact was this bed time story. A smirk grew across Fanho's face as did the gaunt man who was now the young one's challenger. "I don't know if you know this, but I'm kind of a big deal. Don't make this harder than it has to be." The clone whipped with blazing speed that was comparable to the two's own speed. This person wasn't just some lowly genjutsu user, but a ranked Missing-nin of unknown proportions. Clearly equivalent to provide a threat to the two capable Jounin. Easily Fanho was able to deduce that the genjutsu user was using this clone as a distraction, information gathering, or some sort of equivalent of the two. The jabs we're easily dodge-able, giving the tell sign that this man was not a taijutsu fighter. With this in mind Fanho kept in mind how the man was circling on the out skirts of the current skirmish as Fanho bobbed and weaved around the jabs, hooks, and indiscriminate strikes. It seemed more to test Fanho's speed and strength which he hoped to keep under wraps to pull out the rug from his opponent later in a burst of dazzling display.

As the clone and Fanho danced his eyes peeled the clone as he focused on who he presumed to be the real one danced around them in his aura. Fanho tactically moved the clone in-between himself and who he presumed was the real caster as to keep any surprise attacks to catch him in the crossfire. As the fighting was reaching a peak point Fanho had resolved in destroying the clone before being disrupted by the sudden whizzing of the three shuriken he felt in his aura whizzing dizzying fast at him. As Fanho felt the shuriken closing in he had to resolve to an explosive solution of raw unadulterated power to deal with the immediate threats as quick as possible. With his hands glowing and shooting off sparks of pure solar energy, Fanho did one dazzling spin as he released all four blinding explosions in a circle that should've caused enough force to dispel the shuriken from reaching himself or counteract the explosive tags. The explosions would've been enough to consume the clone if it were real, and Fanho should've still been able to detect the real caster just on the outskirts of the skirmish.

Fanho could only hope his older sensei was having an easier time, he could feel his location in the aura fighting wildly and fast, but however he didn't feel any enemies attack his teacher. The real threat was in-front of him, but for him to be able to tie up the two proved this man was more than just some standard missing-nin. This man was a snake, a monster, he didn't seem to have any humanity in him at all. If Fanho could finish his side of this skirmish, then the two would hopefully be able to rest easy. Fanho's fuuinjutsu that made him aware of any genjutsu placed on him wasn't thumping his lower spine, so he was at least safe from it. For now...

Konoha Smash • Nagare Suiton
C-Rank Taijutsu Stance
Referred to as the flowing water stance. Fanho will spread his feet slightly wider than shoulder width, and place his right foot back leading with his left foot in the front. He will face his hands around palm open around the chest level dipping slowly to the abdomen occasionally. In this stance Fanho will bob around, and hop around from side to side while remaining fluid but in a solid stance. This allows him to react quickly with side steps, deflects, and counter attacks as being light on his feet allows him to maximize the responsiveness of his counter attacks.

Hiton • Starburst
A-Rank Ninjutsu
By focusing chakra to his hands Fanho can create multi-use concussive blasts on his hands up to 4 times. Each blast exerts a total of 20 strength per blast. During this time Fanho's hands glow blindingly grey, and create mini super nova rings that reach out for aesthetic effect. This lasts until used or until 6 posts have passed.

B-Rank Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: 20 Control
After focusing a lot of chakra throughout his body, Fanho will release it into the area around him maintaining a bubble. This bubble glows a constant blue hue of chakra for its duration and cannot be hidden. This bubble measures approximately 20m in radius. In this bubble Fanho will know everything that enters, and everything that is inside of the bubble at all times and its pinpoint location. This bubble follows Fanho wherever he goes. The bubble will last for 5 posts before dissipating. With this En or any other following En, Fanho cannot do any analytics with them, he can only use them for detection and pin pointing purposes.

The group of men standing behind Hayashi lightly rubbing their wounds with annoyance rather than as any real damage would be troubling for most. The twelve figures who didn't even seem alive, the skin stuck to their inner laying structure it'd appear they we're just dead figurines being pulled by strings to even move. The giggling raised above the babbling of the ship sinking in the distance as all twelve joined in on the chorus. With all their faces grotesquely contorting into a lifeless toothy grin it only reinforced how confident this creature of the night was taking on two of Konoha's finest. The twelve figures lowered themselves into a crouching position as the lowly ran across the ground at a dizzying speed, some pulling out rusty kitchen knives, others chipped and broken kunai a few licked their dried out lips in anticipation of the hunt. The first blitzed Hayashi as he came across the left flank aiming to sink his rusty kitchen knife deep into his kidey, the second came straight up the middle lane lunging to dig the retched kunai deep in his abdomen, and a third trying to come from above attempting to dig a seven inch shank in Hayashi's collar bone pocket. The others followed behind attempting to drive their blades deep in the most painful locations in an attempt to immobilize the shinobi. If he were to even be nic'd by just one of these weapons, it'd feel real, and the blood seeping out certainly would be.

InfoShow
Within his En aura, Fanho senses three signatures. One is clearly weaker than the rest, and its shifting position matches the movements of the nearby clone. The other two are considerably stronger, and one points towards the man watching by the tent. The last signature is off in the direction Hayashi went.
The watching man exaggerated a gagging motion and rolled his eyes as Fanho spoke. "Cocky little whelp, aren't we? Well, we'll see..." He smirked, apparently at his ease while watching the little skirmish. He watched with interest as the boy easily dodged his clone's attacks and advances, though perhaps not as fast as he'd have expected. When the clone got close the young Konoha ninja never struck out at it, nor did he ever seem concerned by the assault. It was therefore quite obvious to an observer that the boy wanted to lull him into underestimating his prey. It wouldn't happen. He'd been tailing and watching these two ninja for hours now, had tested their instincts and reactions more than once with his mind-clouding techniques, and was more than aware of their capacity even separated as they were.

Even so, he was surprised at the sudden change in tactics after throwing his shuriken. If the young ninja had been trying to fool him by not fighting at his capacity, his efforts were wasted as he began preparing a powerful ninjutsu. Began being the operative word. With four shuriken spinning in at him from so close a range he wouldn't have had a hope in hell of completing his casting before being torn to shreds if only the weapons had been aimed to hit him. Rather than underestimating his fighting ability, the observer had clearly overestimated his intelligence. Considerably.
Three of the four shuriken spun around Fanho and hit the ground with successive thunks, forming three points of a triangle approximately two metres on each side. The fourth spun within the border of the triangle just as the three tags, now on the ground, burst alight and spread forth a shimmering blue light that swiftly formed into a barrier that began to encase the boy, clone, and tagged shuriken alike.
The clone charged, forgoing any finesse and aiming a powerful arcing kick towards Fanho's head, intending to barrel into him with its momentum regardless of the kick's success. And the last tag began burning brightly as its shuriken ricocheted off of the inner wall of the growing barrier. It wasn't aimed at Fanho directly, but it didn't need to be. A metre away was as good as a direct hit for an explosion confined within a barrier.

All of this happened within the space of a sharp intake of breath, which is what the now-quiet observer did as he stood, stunned. He'd only intended to test the young ninja, but the hastily-formed trap had worked anyway. Everything turned a blinding white within the confines of the barrier, though whether it was the explosive tag or the boy's own jutsu, it was impossible to tell. Like a firecracker held inside a closed fist.

"I guess you were a big deal…" he chuckled and shook his head, wondering if this was a good metric for all Konohagakure ninja. That would make his life considerably easier.

The group of twelve surged forward in a single coordinated wave, but even with a dozen bodies, the odds weren't stacked well for them. Hayashi had been hard pressed before when they'd taken him by surprise, surrounded him on all sides, and left him with no room to think or prepare within the press of bodies. But now? Now he stood ready, his foes before him and playing his game. His mind worked quickly, subconsciously adjusting his footing and taking a stance ready to meet the charge with one of his own, then he hesitated. He’d just witnessed these clones suffer fatal blows, only to recover and multiply. That was no common skill; either the man was far beyond any physical fighter he’d ever encountered due to some incredible hidden ability… or, more likely, it was an illusion.
He stepped backwards once, then twice, better to keep the group in sight as they fanned out infront of him. No doubt they’d flank from all sides as soon as he engaged any one of them. He set his feet, raised his blade, and then charged at the middle of the line. A second before he reached them he formed a single seal with his offhand and immediately isolated his chakra supply, ceasing the circulation within his own body.

Ten of the figures vanished as the genjutsu shattered. By the time his chakra circulation re-started he was already striking at the remnants. The clones were fast but were nowhere near his equal in close quarters combat, and had no time to react to his sudden shift in focus now that the distractions were gone. He took two perfect steps, twisted, and executed a masterful backhand slash that took the head from one of their shoulders. Reversing the blade he slashed again and opened the other from shoulder to navel.
The first detonated as it died, bursting into a ball of flame that forced him to leap away, skin burned and hair singed. The second erupted into a cloud of white smoke, and Hayashi thought the battle won until, as the smoke cleared, he saw a wrapped bundle of cloth and rope, severed in two, lying where the body should’ve been.

Substitution. Where is he?! He turned in a circle, searching, but couldn’t see where the enemy had fled to. Can’t be far, he reasoned, don’t let him get the upper hand. Keep moving! He started running, looping around the edge of the camp beyond Fanho’s shimmering aura. At least he knew his former student was still safe while that bubble lasted.
