Far to the North, on the island continent Friopia, amid the frozen wastes and deadly lands, there was a single fortress. Presumably, it had once been a watchtower for some long gone civilization. At first, it seemed of little interest, a circular stone tower with no value. However, underneath the tower was a small mausoleum, to hold the deceased watchmen who once guarded this chunk of barren land. This mausoleum held more than one may have expected. Deep within the tomb, there was a hidden passage that led further underground, through numerous traps and pitfalls. Finally, there was a deep cavern that could be navigated with an ancient, and highly dangerous pulley operated elevator. At the bottom was a final atrium with two lanterns, both seemingly lit eternally, not needing fuel. Between the two lanterns lay a single door, unopened for centuries. Above the door, a warning read: “Thieves beware. Your Desires may prove the Death of you.”

Ignoring the sign and opening the door, the young adventurer would find himself facing the greatest treasure trove he had ever seen. Gold and jewels, ruby encrusted blades, jade pendants, enough to make any man rich forever. However, something about the warning felt like a curse, like it would be unwise to touch anything. Except for one thing. At the end of the vault, on a simple wooden table, there laid a simple cloak. Although it did not appear like much, something about it resonated. It held a great power, that anyone, from a king to a thief, would desire.

And standing before it was Iyashii Fuhen, ready to claim his prize.

Fuhen had ridden his trusty unicycle across waters on the allure of something drawing him closer and closer. It was of course this that led him to some strange temple/watchtower/dungeon thing that he was in, and as he opened the door, his mouth dropped open and he nearly drooled. It was a shame he couldn't read, or else the sign that warned him of certain death might have meant something. These riches could feed his entire country for at least a few generations.

However, something drew him away from the bountiful riches, and towards what felt like a centerpiece to the room, despite not being a centerpiece: a rather plain looking cloak. Taking his long-legged steps towards it, he inspected it for a few moments, feeling the intense power radiating off of it, before shrugging, picking it up, and nonchalantly unfolding it to take a closer look. It looked like... trash. But it also looked like it could be quite warm, and since he was cold blooded, he often needed extra warmth, and so he swirled the cloak around himself, putting it on.

Almost immediately it felt right. Not too hot, blocking just the right amount of chill from sea air to keep him at a comfortable temperature, and it immediately seemed to become one with him like his blades had. Normally it took even thin clothing weeks to do the same thing. How strange.
"It's so sad!" the reader said to the writer with a frown. "The character in my book just died!" The author turned to her and burst out into tears, "I know!" he said, "So did mine!"
