A large temple stood atop a mountain range. Massive amounts of snow were everywhere. Large snow piles framed a path, which at one point had been meticulously cleared, but now had a few inches of powder adorning it. As the path headed toward the temple, the pure white snow began to appear disturbed. First, it was just footsteps, some shoe impressions, but most something… else. It did not resemble any creature that naturally inhabited this area, the marks were far too large. Even closer to the temple, the footsteps became more and more frenzied, going this way and that, and dirt and red blood tarnished the snow even further. The temple walls, after much scratching and clawing, had been reduced the splinters.
The scene inside the temple was far worse than that of the outside. Monks in blood-stained and tattered orange clothes lay scattered around the large room, all brutally killed. There was no sign of who the attackers had been, or where they had gone. Toward the back of the temple, near a large statue of a god, a group of twelve monks lay murdered, seemingly guarding an elderly monk, likely the head of the temple. These monks had inevitably failed in their goal, since the elder was also killed. Around his neck was a beaded necklace. It seemed to be of little value, since all of the monks had a similar necklace around their own necks. However, something seemed different about this necklace, like it held some deep secret power.
And standing before the monk and the mysterious necklace was Wakatsuki Zai, ready to claim the prize the attackers had left behind.
