The dynamic duo had allowed for some time to pass since the inky spirit had departed, taking this time for both of the young men to recover their strength and rebuild Li's second puppet, Tyrant, as best as they could given the situation and supplies available. Zao had attempted to even summon some parts from his realm but none of them were right for the specialized puppet his friend had been working on for years, after all the white haired jounin had just started tinkering in the puppeteering arts and lacked the experience or specialized parts that Li had back within his workshop. But the pair did the best they could and after some food and rest they pair had ventured across the mini sand desert created by Hana when fighting against the guardian spirit and soon arrived at the smooth wall of the stone cavern pointed out to the two shinobi by the spirit before his departure back to his home world.

Li, your up my friend.” The bright blue eyes of the scholarly looking man drifted to his side and onto Li, the one who was in possession of the title plate given to them after defeating the spirit. The defeated spirit had already spoke the manner to activate the strange device that was suppose to allow them to access the maze and some other places within the wall. All the young shinobi had to do was channel his chakra into the title plate that looked similar to the headbands worn by village ninja of this day and age. When Li would channel chakra into the title plate nothing would happen at first, the young man would have to channel around a C-ranks worth of chakra into the plate before it would activate causing for the silver slab of metal with a symbol the two couldn’t decipher, only knowing that the spirit mentioned the Ji clan, began to illuminate with grey chakra. Before the pair on the wall the chakra seemed to illuminate a spot on the wall near them revealing a number of strange symbols that Zao had only seen in the scroll he had back in his personal realm.

So there is some tie between the man and the mysterious country of Juu…’ At least that was the theory Zao was going with as the symbols would seem to be written around a small indent in the wall just the right size to fit he metal plate. After Li would insert it into the spot on the wall the solid stone wall seemed to begin to deteriorate into dust before revealing a perfect rectangle exit out of the stone room and into another grand sized room from the looks of things. “Nice job my friend, shall we?” With a friendly smile on his face the adventurer within Zao was able to been seen through the sharpness of his gaze, though they were told of the dangers there was no reward without some risk, and he would not be as careless as last time. Feeling fully prepared for the next undertaking he gave a nod to his friend when ready and the pair would enter beside one another.

Once on the other side the wall would reform in the same manner it had formed, leaving not even the slightest clue about its whereabouts on either side of the wall as the pair was faced with what appeared to be a long hallway that continued on as far as they could see. The walls stretched all the way to a ceiling that was at least a hundred meters tall and along the walls were fuuin created lighting that weren’t bright but allowed for the two men to see down the long hallway that went for two or three hundred meters before coming to a T shaped hallway leaving only two choices for the shinobi: right or left. Letting out a slow exhale the young man turned to his friend once more and said, “Which way?”

Xiao Li had needed more time to recover than he thought, which, when added with the time it took to fix his puppet, ended up being nearly half of a day. However, whenever it came time to continue into the maze his body began vibrate with excitement. He did as Zao instructed, but had connected one of his chakra strings to the title plate beforehand. As the two shinobi passed through the opening Xiao Li used his chakra string to pull the plate back to him. The maze overawed Xiao Li, causing his eyes to resemble saucers. “This is AMAZING!” Xiao Li's voice echoed off the walls, and made his smile even bigger. He truly was like a small, excited child. When Zao asked which way Li thought they should go, he pondered the question for a good long while. “You know what we need? A ball of twine…”

Xiao Li spoke in a joking manner before pointing to the right. “To the right I suppose, but let's see if we can leave a mark on the walls first. If ink won't work we can try more forceful measures.” Li looked at his friend, waiting for his thoughts on the matter. While he waited for Zao's judgement on the matter he brought Tyrant out, and brought him to life with his chakra strings. Xiao Li would be able to use the flamethrowers in Tyrants snout for extra light if the need arose, as well as using it to scout for traps.

A ball of twine?” Zao once more found himself letting out a light laugh at his young friend, the age gap between the two wasn’t really that great but Li always seemed to be able to return to his youthful state that reminded the white haired man of a child at time. But to the man it was honestly a little refreshing to have some fun after dealing with only serious training and hard thoughts about where his future lay after returning from the spirit real adventure. Part of him truly had missed the little jounin beside him now as he coughed a few time into his hand as though to say that the fellow jounin needed to be a little more serious about the matter as they weren’t able to teleport out of here if things went south. During the recovery portion of the last half a day or so the man had attempted just to know for future reference but he couldn’t manage to create a portal big enough to actually escape through. From a logical standpoint he made the assumption that he had to do with the chakra resistant material that the great wall was built from.

To the right it is then.” Zao would only nod in agreement with the direction picked by his friend now, adjusting his robe to smooth out any wrinkles he sent mental messages to both Toge and Hana who laid quietly wrapped around either arm underneath the sleeves of the upper robe. It was a simple message for them to remain alert from now on as no one could be sure just what kind of traps or mechanisms might lay in wait for them along this unmapped journey head of them, judging from the ink spirit which they had defeated earlier it also seemed that even the spirits here would be different from either of them had witnessed before. For Zao, this last part actually excited the adventuring side of the man a bit as he looked forward to perhaps finding at least one spirit that met the requirements he had for his personal spirit companions as had plans to create a spiritual army similar to those he read about within the ancient scroll.

Seeing that Li was also making his preparations for the unknown as he brought out one of his puppets. Zao couldn’t help but admire the structure that they found themselves within. Between its strange ability to be resistant to both chakra and physical attacks and the sheer magnitude of the maze’s size. The level of defenses around just the country of Juu were hard to even comprehend due to their strength and size. Just what kind of surprises lay in wait within the actually country if it was this hard just to find a path into the mysterious land? Just like that the journey of the two Suna-nin began as Li and his puppet along with Zao and his two spirit plant pets began to casually walk while chatting back and forth about puppet, spirits, and what they might find within the gigantic maze they were wondering through. Taking the first right the pair walked few a hundred meters before coming to a four way intersection where the part went left before coming to yet another T shaped hallway before the pair.

Once more like before the pair decided to take a right, with Li’s puppet still in the lead now as the large puppet would hit the first mechanism now. It was an old one but still a lethal one as hundreds of needs were fired from small holes that were revealed within the wall. Luckily the pair had the puppet leading the way for them or it could have been a very different experience as the puppet would be pelted by the spray of senbon style weapons. It was simple trap and if Li was quick enough he might even be able to save the puppet from taking to much damage or if he was to slow then the puppet would find itself turned into a porcupine. “Guess we’ve finally starting to get somewhere.” The fact that they had encountered a trap hopefully meant that they were on the correct path to getting out of this maze or perhaps the entire maze itself was lined in different traps and mechanisms, but that would truly be the worse case scenario for the two men.

After traveling for around two hours at a slow, cautious pace the pair had encountered five different traps and mechanisms but none of them had been to challenging now until they came to what appeared to be a dead end. Upon reaching the wall of this dead end it had a what appeared to be different styles of calligraphy written upon the wall and a set of dials. Appearing to be some sort of mechanism, the dials seemed to indicate that they could be turned in a set manner that would cause something to happen, yet without being able to read the dead language everything was more or less them making an educated guess on how to proceed. Was it worth the risk to mess with the dials or would it be safer to just turn around and back track in the maze? Exhaling slowly Zao turned to his friend in this moment of contemplation, “I can’t read much of it, just the top about this being a trial of the mind.

Xiao Li flicked his fingers a few times as the needles flew at his puppet Tyrant. With every minute movement of Li's fingers Tyrant's tail would swing around him, knocking away the needles without any issue. While more than a few had made it past Tyrant's tail, there had not been any true damage done. Ad they continued through the maze Xiao Li continued to allow Tyrant to take the lead while he spoke with his friend Zao. While they made small talk they had come across their first real test. Listening to his friend Li came up with an idea, though he was not sure if it would work or not. "We could try using clones? If I was able to use shadow clones I would send them off in different directions to explore, but sadly I have not had the chance to learn the technique yet. As far as this thing goes....I'm not sure. I can not make heads nor tails of it." Xiao Li shrugged his shoulders as he spoke before he backed up quite a good distance. He then had Tyrant walk up to the dials. "I am going to use Tyrant to mess with the dials. If something happens to him I can repair, or replace him, though it would suck to lose him."

Once Zao had moved backward Tyrant began to spin the dials with his retractable claws. Every time one of the dials turned it would emit a deep clicking sound, though each sound was a different pitch. Xiao Li, with his friend Zao's help, used the different pitches of the clicking noise to solve the dial puzzle. However, once they had solved the puzzle the wall in front of them split open, as if the dials had been a combination lock. Once the wall had fully opened it revealed a twenty-meter tall mechanical golem that had an equally massive sword on it's back. Xiao Li had briefly expected the thing to come to life, but after examining it for a good while he realized that it was in disrepair and that there were even more words on the wall beside it. "Can you read any of that?"

It was true that using a clone would be the safest route, Zao only knew shadow clones as he was purely a ninjutsu specialist, not really having any talent in the elemental arts sadly. Even with his neigh perfect level of chakra control and huge stamina pool it wasn’t something that he’d do just to test the strange mechanism before them as it would still an unneeded loss of chakra which the man might need later within the giant maze the pair found themselves within. Though from what one could tell it seemed like some sort of simple game to put it bluntly, despite the location of the test, and in the end the two decided that it as best to simply access the dials from afar through the use of Li’s dinosaur puppet. As the puppet used its extended talons to carefully turn the dials each let out a deep clicking sound, each click seeming to have a faintly different but discernible pitch to it. This was something Zao noticed instantly as his bright blue eyes remained locked onto the series of dials that the puppet carefully maneuvered, listening intently as the man made them his sole focus turning out everything around him with the exception of Li.

It would seem that the dials each have their own tones, the descriptions above each of them are a little fuzzy still but it appears like a simple matching game?” Though the man was speaking a statement at first the later part of his words held a questioning tone to them. Was it really that simple? After all, there was the entrance fuuin outside that was discovered by luck and only usable due to Zao’s previously acquired knowledge from the mysterious traveler’s scroll left to Nori and him. Then there was the amazing fuuin diagram that bound the spirit in the first stone room which was unbreakable by spirits, luckily Li had acquired a rather unique spirit weapon which allowed for them to continue on to the point that the pair found themselves at now. It just seemed almost to easy for the jounin who had explored a number of old ruins looking for artifacts and searching for the true history of chakra.

But for the moment, it seemed just like that now as he worked back and forth with Li controlling the puppet with extremely precise movements allowing for the puppet to go back and forth operating the set of six different dials. Spending about half an hour here working with different combinations as the inscription above the dials became a bit easier to read helping give a few useful hints that when combine with Li’s thinking the two jounin managed to finally connect the dots and find the right combination. Immediately afterwards a low rumbling sound that was accompanied with tremors that ran through the stone floor beneath their feet preceded the movement of the formerly solid looking wall before them splitting down the middle. The unfathomably tall walls slide apart allowing for the two shinobi to see past it now as what came into view just on the other side of the twenty meter thick wall was an almost dilapidated mechanical golem that had a buster style sword attached diagonally across its back. “Does that thing even work?
There were piles of parts and random building parts scattered about around the feet of the twenty meter tall construct of metal, the long white haired scholar couldn’t help but express to his friend if the worn out looking golem even functioned. Which after some careful investigate from afar with Li’s puppet and then up close as they even tapped on the metal golem it seemed as though it wasn’t any sort of trap. But once again the part past the golem and the room of trash was another wall with some brief inscription that his friend asked if he could decipher. “Let me have a look.” The slender fingers of his left hand came up once more unto his chin in thought as he began to let his mind work now, slowly working through the ancient language the words were carved within. This time the words were rather straight forward, the words stated to repair the golem and prepare to be tested on one’s tactics. “It says to move on through the maze we need to repair this broken golem. The next sentence then say to be prepared to test one’s tactics. How interesting…

Zao smiled a bit as he spoke aloud, finishing translating the text for his friend as he read it out loud to ensure he knew what the words written in the stone where before turning his gaze onto Li now. “Well, I can help some but you’ve got more experience engineering puppets. Let’s work together.” The man knew of his current weaknesses, not afraid to admit them to his friends now who were more skilled in those area. Perhaps through this he would be able to even improve his knowledge of constructs to help him in designing his own puppets that were at the moment truly pitiful existence. With some exchange in ideas and methods to go about the refurbishment of the golem, the pair would set off searching through the piles of random parts and pieces that lay strewn about the floor around the large puppet like construct. Though the work itself wasn’t extremely hard it was tedious and time consuming as the pair worked for four or five hours, taking breaks to eat some food in between.

At the end of the five hour mark the construct seemed to be more or less operational as the pair men found themselves within the head portion of the construct in what could have been considered a type of bridge or cockpit for the creation. In the center of the small room was a pedestal with a handprint, this seemed to be the control for the golem. Seeing as Li was more experienced with puppets Zao let him take the lead and once the jounin placed his palm down onto the handprint and bound it with his chakra the entire construct would come alive as an unknown powerful source activated within the mechanical golem. As long as the younger shinobi kept his hand on the pedestal he would control the golem through mental or verbal commands, it would seem like they had gained something that would help them progress more easily through the maze. When the construct powered up the wall in front of them split open and as his friend would pilot the golem past the wall it would reveal a large area style room one hundred meters wide and long as the.

As the mechanical golem entered the space underneath the construct lit up with a bright blue color that seemed to encompass the creation now for a few moments, after which it faded and in the middle of the room where one could see just a mess of parts and pieces. The opening behind the golem closed shut tightly now as a glow once more appeared but in the center of the room now, a strange attraction force started to draw forth numerous parts into the center of the room and in what seemed like mere moments an identical construct like the one Li was piloting had formed in the center of the room. It was like a mirror match as the enemy golem reached up to withdraw the sword and without any words or hesitation it charge forward delivering a downward slash as though it planned to sliced the pairs golem directly in half right down the middle! “You’re up, Li!” Zao couldn’t help but call out to his friend who was in control of the golem, he hadn’t expected this but the pieces of information where started to come together in his mind as he watched how Li would battle the construct that was just as fast and strong as their own, a near perfect match.

Xiao Li's eyes seemed to grow larger the more he listened to Zao speak, and he ran at his top speed towards the massive puppet like construct. Before he even considered repairing anything, Xiao Li went over the massive construct inch by inch. He wanted to know the ins and outs of the puppet and desperately hoped that he would be able to further his knowledge of puppetry so that he could improve his own puppets. After he completed his primary inspection Xiao Li began to work closely with Zao in an attempt to repair the massive thing. It took about five hours for them to get it into working order, but Xiao Li still was not fully happy with their progress. "In order for us to get this thing back into perfect working order, we could be here for a few weeks. I've done the best I can, and even what I did was only possible with your help. I really wish I could just tinker with this thing until I was happy with it." The amount of love Xiao Li had for the art of puppetry could be easily seen in the way he looked at the golem.

As Zao climbed up into the operating room of the golem Xiao Li brought Spike out of the scroll and loaded him up with the remaining spare parts. He planned to not only analyze them and their construction, but he was also going to use them to upgrade his own puppets once he returned to the village hidden in the sand. While the smaller parts were able to fit inside of Spike, the massive ones were not, and so Xiao Li began to frown. He REALLY wanted to take everything. However, Xiao Li finally decided to leave the larger parts there, and climbed up the golem behind Zao, after he placed not only Spike but Tyrant back into the scroll as well. Once he clambered into the cockpit Xiao Li placed his hand on the control terminal and had the giant golem begin walking forward. Xiao Li nearly fainted as he watched the way the other golem was put together by the unseen force. It was as if fireworks were going off in his mind. He was definitely going to improve his puppets in the near future.

Although he was amazed by the creation of the enemy golem, Xiao Li had not stood there waiting to be attacked. He had drawn their own sword and charged the other golem the same time it charged them. However, before the two golems collided Xiao Li yelled out to Zao. "Brace yourself, we are about to roll!" As soon as the words left his mouth XIao Li commanded the golem to jump to it's right, and roll behind the other golem. As the roll came to an end Xiao Li made sure that the golem was on its feet, and performed a backhanded swing with the sword as it turned to face the other golem. While Xiao Li's attack was fairly obvious, the other golem had not recovered from Xiao Li's quick dodge to the side and had yet to turn around. This allowed Xiao Li to strike the back of the other golem, though it did not do very much damage. Xiao Li was not very good at wielding swords.

As the golem turned to face Xiao Li and Zao's golem, it charged them once again. However, this time Xiao Li met the puppet head on, gripping their sword with both hands. "Take this you son of a bitch!" While the two buster swords were clashing Xiao Li had their golem kick the left knee joint of the other golem, and forced it to the ground. Xiao Li then had his golem bring its buster sword down on to the other golem's neck.

'His control over this things is pretty good.' Zao silently commented on the man's ability to pilot the foreign mechanical golem that the pair had only recently put back together now as chakra flowed into the soles of the sandals upon the white haired man's feet. A basic technique that was little more than instinct for the experienced shinobi seeing the events unfolding before his own eyes and the sudden warning shouted out from his friend. The massive golem was very agile for its size and part of Zao prayed that the creation of theirs didn't fall apart in the process, luckily Li's expertise in puppets seemed to hold strong as their suit dodged the opposing golem. Even taking advantage of the slow recover of the foe to land a solid blow across the back of the creation before him, yet the man’s lack of skill with the sword held the golem back a bit and the damage done wasn’t to impressive. “Got him!”

For a moment the scholarly looking shinobi tightened his right hand into a tight first, speaking aloud to Li after they managed to land the first blow, but his friend didn’t stop there as the other golem quickly turned to attack the pair’s mobile suit. At the moment there wasn’t much that the ninjutsu specialist could do except for leave it all up to Li and his ability to control the puppet and make tactically sound decisions in the fray. While it might have been possible for Zao to call out different attack patterns or flaws in the enemy suit’s attacks and stance from just having more battle experience than his young friend, one would be hard pressed to find such a venue in which they could learn through actual combat. This could be called a blessing for the puppeteer and if they managed to survive the other golem’s attack he would grow greatly from the experiences that he was receiving here.

With that in mind the bright blue eyes took in the fight scene but his thin lips remained tightly sealed in the form of a slight smile now as his comrade managed to gain a momentary advantage which he seized beautifully forcing the other golem to a knee. But just as the Suna nin was going for a powerful downward slash to hopefully put an end to this little fight the blade was blocked. One each calf portion of the golem’s legs a series of four jets appeared and from them compressed air rocked the golem forward and upwards at a diagonal angle which would allow for the foe to knock back Zao and his friend within the golem twenty or thirty meters now which the boost in speed and strength. The pressurized air seemed to allow for the large golem to hover in the air, now as its blade was positioned across the top of the right shoulder now, the left hand having left the hilt of the blade and motioned for Li to join it in aerial combat.

Can this golem do that to?” Even as Zao shifted his gaze from the golem above and to their left now over to his friend, he asked allowed to him about the capability of their own golem. The white haired man truly didn’t remember seeing any unique mechanisms on the puppet-like creation when they had been trying to reassemble the creation. Perhaps Li had noticed them while they were working or maybe being in control of the golem suit gave him more insight as to just what did actually hide within the advanced mech...

As they were thrown backward by the other golem’s sudden attack, Xiao Li braced himself for the impact and began to analyze everything around him. He had noticed some large mechanisms while he had given the massive puppet a once over, but, at the time, he had been unable to tell exactly what they were for. Now, however, he at least had an idea of what the massive pipes in the golem’s legs were for. With this new information, Xiao Li had an idea of what the rest of the puppet could do. After commanding the massive golem to get back on its feet, Xiao Li charged at the opponent while still on the ground, however, as soon as he was near the other golem he leaped into the air, using the thrusters to carry him higher into the air than would have been possible otherwise. As his golem charged into the air Xiao Li had it bring the buster sword up in an arcing slash from its left hip up to its right shoulder, attempting to cleave it in half. However, the golem was prepared and used air thrusters in the bottom of its feet to dodge backward. Because his attack had missed its mark Xiao Li’s puppet golem had flown higher into the air than he had originally planned, which had left him open to being attacked.

The enemy golem slashed down at Xiao Li and Zao’s golem, but Xiao Li used air thrusters in his puppet’s arms to suddenly leap forward in order to avoid the attack. If he did not know any better Xiao Li would have guessed that the puppet he was fighting had been limited to match him in strength, however, it’s skill far outstretched him own. Xiao Li used the thrusters on the puppet’s body to turn and face his opponent and began thinking about how to best conquer it. Xiao Li remembered that Zao had said that it was supposed to be a battle of tactics, which meant that he had been going about things all wrong from the very beginning. Xiao Li had been trying to defeat the golem in a head-on clash when he was supposed to be attempting to out think it. This meant that the opposing golem was in fact on the same level of strength as Xiao Li was, and probably mimicked his strengths and weakness down to a T. So, their only option was to out-think their opponent. “Brother Zao it would appear that I have been going about things the wrong way. If this is a battle of tactics then we need to out-think this fellow instead of fighting with him head on.”

As Xiao Li spoke to his friend the opposing golem decided that it had waited long enough, and attacked Xiao Li’s puppet while they hung there in the air. The two massive puppets exchanged blow for blow with their equally large swords, and neither seemed able to get the upper hand on the other. color=teal]“Look around this area. See if you can find anything that we can use to our advantage. Whenever you finish combing through what you can see now let me know, and I will have us change direction.”[/color] Xiao Li did his best to stay facing one side of the room that they were in while he and the other puppet battled in an effort to give Zao as much time to look through the room as possible.

As they accelerated upwards from the additional lift force provided by the booster system of the golem Zao was able to feel himself being pressed into the floor due to the increased G forces that were present as his feet despite being held in place via chakra started to slide backwards slightly now. The fight then continued as the puppets collided once more after Li managed to gain some mastery over the controls and found himself able to adapt decently to fighting in mid air, an impressive feat on its own. But no matter how hard the young man went at the puppet the end result was the same. That being either the puppets would end up in a stalemate or they’d only manage to cause significant damage to one another, at this rate the battle felt like it could go on forever. But it was at this point his fellow shinobi glanced over and spoke to him, these were the words that he had been waiting to hear from the young man.

As it had been stated on the wall before entering the room, this was test of mind. A test that had first encompassed one’s ability to repair the golem which they weren’t familiar with and the second test was the current battle which the two men and their golem were currently embroiled in. “I can agree. Fighting head on will almost certainly lead to a loss for us.” Once more the puppets were mixed into blows that shook the very golem in which the two men currently used as shelter, the blows powerful enough to even rival his strongest spirits in strength. This in itself was an impressive feat of engineering on whom ever had actually built the golems for this maze trial...what did this mean of the golems that the country had used for true battles been like?

I’ll see what I can find, just hold out for a little bit.” Hearing the words from his friend the man shifted his gaze to look over the room in its entirety now for the first time, having mainly been focused upon the battle and how well Li was able to command the over sized puppet. It only took a minute to find a small panel that was offset from the one that using as a control feature for the golem and the man quickly moved over taking a knee upon the metal floor and placed his hand on it. A moment later the man stepped back as his chakra seems to have been pulled into the panel and it began to rise up a bit over a meter in height but it wasn’t like his friends. It had a number of symbols written in the dead language that he could hardly make out. “I found something, but I need some time to figure out the symbols.” With that the man pulled out a small, rough looking book from his hip pouch. This was a book that he’d kept with him through many years and one that had even made the entire journey through the spirit realms Nori and himself had visited.

Within it was a number of different symbols that he’d broken down and deciphered since receiving the mysterious scroll from the space-time traveler that now seemed to hold a strong link to the lost country of Juu. The more the man seemed to learn about either Juu or the mysterious traveler who had saved them in the serpent realm, the more questions he had instead of answers. Zao’s body was tossed left, then right, but he managed to maintain his footing through the chakra holding him in place but it truly made reading his scribbles a bit more difficult. As long as Li was able to maneuver and play defensively it would give the man the time to figure out at least half of the symbols and to understand that it was a control panel for additional weaponry. With that established he shouted to his comrade a few meters away now as they clashed once more with the other golem being knocked back. “It’s a weapons console to control additional mechanisms. Seems we have some sort of chakra launcher in the head of the puppet and right arm, the left arm has a hidden blade in the wrist, Their is even some additional maneuvering mechanisms for increased agility but it doesn’t look like we can increase our speed with them just our angles of movement.

Under the pressure of the situation, Zao had done his best to figure out what he could given the amount of time he was given now and quickly relayed that to his partner. Now the pair would need to work as one with the additional knowledge and a more strategic game plan in order to come out on top of this battle test. “Seems we’ll have to work together, call out your movements and I’ll try to assist when I can. Let’s finish this golem off and get the hell out of this maze!” With confidence in his voice the man spoke out once more to his brother like friend, they were going to do this shit!

Xiao Li smirked slightly as his friend misunderstood what he had asked of him, and had instead looked around the cockpit room instead of the arena, however, he had not disappointed Li in the slightest. Zao had found a second control panel which gave them access to a few extra mechanisms. The extra mechanisms had given Xiao Li an idea on how to win the fight, though he was sure that the other puppet golem would have the same tools as they did. Because the golems had been exactly the same up until that point Xiao Li did not want to risk counting on the additional ones that Zao had found in order to try and pass the test but instead had planned to use everything together in a chain of attacks in order to clinch the win. As the two puppets danced around the room, fighting both on the ground and in the air, Xiao Li slowly moved the fight closer to the wall of the arena. He made sure to be slow and meticulous about it and even allowed the other golem to send him flying backward just to move closer to the wall at a faster pace. As the golems neared the wall Xiao Li finally made his move. He commanded his golem to charge the other puppet head on while holding their sword horizontally and bracing the spine of the blade with the puppet's right hand.

The enemy golem had obviously seen this attack coming and had brought its blade up to meet Xiao Li's, however, that was when it made its first mistake. Xiao Li, as soon as the two giant swords collided, used the thrusters in the golem's arms to force the enemy golem backward and pinned it against the wall. While the other golem was able to similarly activate their thrusters to prevent Xiao Li's sword from overpowering it, they remained in a stalemate. With the golem pinned against the wall, Xiao Li then bent the golem's knees while activating the thrusters in its feet to force the enemy golem up the wall. This not only destroyed a good portion of the golem's back, but it also put Xiao Li and Zao's golem into a favorable position. As the two golems rose higher into the air Xiao Li called out to his friend to prepare not one, but both of the chakra blasters that their golem had, as well as the hidden blade. As soon as the other golem saw that their chakra blasters were getting ready to fire it began to charge its blasters as well, however, just before firing the blasters Xiao Li shut off the blasters in the feet of the golem that he was controlling, forcing him to immediately start to fall. This caused the other golem's energy cannons to miss their golem, and gave Xiao Li the opening he had been waiting for. "Zao! Now!" As he yelled out Xiao Li punched the arena wall, using the hidden blade to stop their fall by shoving it into the wall, while Zao aimed both of their energy cannons at the core of the enemy puppet and blasted it to hell and back. As the enemy golem fell from the sky, obviously destroyed, Xiao Li reactivated the boosters in their puppet and glided down to the ground, waiting for what would happen next.

They were working in sync with one another and as the pair clashed Zao would activate the additional maneuvering thruster concealed within the golem's arms. Doing so caused for a port to open up on the elbow as a small circular exhaust style pipe extended out from within the arm. Air pressure surged out from the thrusters on each side allowing for the duo and their rebuilt golem to over power its opponent golem if only just for a moment. This was all that they needed to finally put the golem into a disadvantageous position now as they forced it into the wall with decent force before it could stabilize itself.

Both of the men then activated all the thrusters that the puppet had both open and concealed, using this force to grind the durable puppet like creation into the neigh indestructible wall. In this confrontation the wall won out as the two Suna nin had managed for the first time to cause serious damage to the enemy. "Both? I'm on it!" Hearing his comrade call out to prepare the pair of chakra weapons in the puppet Zao immediately went to work on the short peocess at his control station which caused the right forearm of the puppet to split open revealing a launcher of sorts and for the mouth portion of the helm to split down the middle revealing the same style of launcher.

They needed a moment to charge before they could be fired and the opposing golem felt how bad it's situation was and had done the same thing planning to trade one life for another in a suicide style attack. "Shit!" The man's bright blue eyes could only see the mouth cannon of the other golem snap open at the same time as their own did as both charged with it aimed directly for the cockpit of their golem. It was at that moment Li's quick thinking paid off and he instantly cut the thrusters and with that the ascent of the golem stopped before it began to fall in the same moment. Zao could feel himself become momentarily weightless as his long white hair flowed upwards stretching out above him in that moment they were in free fall

If not for the chakra within the soles of his feet it wouldn't have only been the man's hair and loose fitting robes that floated towards the ceiling of the piloting room. "Take this!" Both golems would fire their blasters. The enemy hit the top of the shoulder and side of the head piercing straight through the metallic outer shell, it was lucky for Li and Zao that at the last instant Li had cut the thruster. Firing off their own chakra blasters and the hidden blade in the left arm shooting out the pair worked as a well oiled machine in attacking the metal construct. Shattering the construct into numerous pieces a metal rain descended upon the stone floor of the battle arena from above and the victors slowly glided down on the remaining power from the booster.

Though when they were about thirty or forty meters from the ground a pulse of energy swept outward from the center of the room and as it hit the golem it lost all power sending it crashing downwards. The two men would be a little shake but not hurt as their golem literally fell apart at this point in time and on one side of the battle room a large door opened to reveal an exit for the shinobi to take. Off in a distant portion of the labyrinth was a shadowy figure watching the events with a slight frown somewhat visible.

An aged voice could be heard as it called out to the shadows and the voice alone seemed to summon a large prison like cage. "Kingu...that's the second level cleared. Go take care of the outside invaders." Within the cage was a strange looking humanoid like elephant with three trunks, four tusks, and for arms. "Anything is better than being stuck within a cage..." a similarly aged voice with a deep tone replied back from within the cage before the amssive crimson lock and chains dispersed and the creature was released...

As the head of the massive golem began to fall through the air towards the ground Xiao Li decided to jump out of it towards the closest wall. To his surprise, Xiao Li was actually able to use Wall Walking to cling to the wall and walk back down towards the ground rather than falling towards it. As he walked down the wall Xiao Li froze because he had heard not one, but two absolutely ancient sounding voices, and one of them was something that they were going to have to fight. "Second level? How many levels are there? I reeeeeeeally hope that this is not some sort of unending trap where we will be trapped for the rest of our lives. I only brought enough food for like two weeks of camping..." Xiao Li's voice was solemn and depressed, but his face was full of resolve. He would not shirk from the coming fight and was actually looking forward to it. However, he had a very bad feeling that something life changing was going to happen.

Sorry for the short post. Best I could manage with everything going on at work tonight. If you dont mind waiting a day or so I will add more from my phone.

"Don't worry my friend, we must take things one step at a time here." Zao reached over with the slender fingers of his left hand, allowing for it to come to rest atop the man's right shoulder now with a gentle squeeze to help calm his friend. His gaze however did not shift from the now open doorway before the pair and he replayed the ancient sounding voices that had spoken out as if the pair of them were not even there. Did they look down on the pair of them that much? “Even if we can’t find the exit, given enough time I’d be able to synch my space-time chakra up to create an exit.” To a point it actually angered the man causing a rarely seen sharpness to appear within the bright blue eyes which caused for them to appear to almost glow within the dim light now. Exhaling slowly he would finally break his gaze and turn back to look at the room full of parts and pieces that were scattered about, it would be a shame if they didn’t at least gather up some of the parts to take back and study in order to improve their own puppets. “Let's take some of this with us, Li.

An almost playful smile crossed the thin lips of the man as he removed the large scroll that was worn upon his back and opened it up, using chakra threads that appeared and extended from each finger tip to gather a small pile of puppet parts that each seemed to be a little different from the other. Taking a few minutes to seal away some of the parts found within the golem battle arena now he would wait for his comrade to do the same and even assist him if need be. Ensuring that they were squared away and ready to travel now after the intense battle between golems Zao secured the scroll onto his back once more and straightened his robes out. “I’m ready.” A look of confidence worked its way onto the maturing man’s face as the two men took their first step forward and began to move as they approached the door and were actually able to look through and see the other side it seemed as though the work on the other side looked completely different. It wasn’t until they took the step into the doorway that they felt a strange sensation, one the white haired scholar was very familiar with: it was the feeling of moving through space. ‘We’re being teleported?!

Elsewhere in the labyrinth, away from the ears of the two men who had stepped into the portal that led to another portion of the death filled maze, the shadow figure shifted his gaze from the crystal orb before him that seemed to be trained on the two men. From behind him the large elephant smirked and shook his head, “I thought that you weren’t supposed to mess with the layout of the maze.” The shapeless figure turned its head slightly to the left as the dark gaze swept over the royal blood spirit elephant and simply turned back towards the monitor orb as though he was ignoring the spirit who had spoken. After a few minutes he replied, “Take Ning with you as well, I sent them to the fourth arena.” A long sigh could be heard from the spirit as it turned to one of the other open spirit cages, seeing no need to bring another helper for two little humans. “You don’t seem to understand, both of them appear to know Tenku and the white haired one has two strange pets that have spirit chakra. The sensors in the golem arena also gave me a ruff estimate of the power of the two and the one known as Zao is on the same level as myself.

The old elephant was about to make a snide remark towards the unknown figure until he heard the reasoning, someone on the same level as the keeper had wandered into the maze. Just who was this stranger and why was he here? But it didn’t scare him and instead fueled a desire to fight this man and the spirits that would serve such a man. The sound of something wet slithering across the ground could be heard as from one of the cells an octopus like spirit joined the elephant. “They look like fun.” A somewhat high pitched voice spoke out towards the two figures as it neared, but it only caused the shadowy figure to shake his head and with a wave of his hand a portal appeared that was large enough to fit even the massive elephant through. Soon they were gone as the unknown figure was left to watch what would happen next, but through the darkness a set of sharp white teeth appeared in a smile, things were finally interesting again.

That pair of young Suna-nin were teleported for only a few seconds but had been warped an incredible distance, something Zao was aware of as they came out of the space-time flux and into an area even larger than the previous one being nearly five hundred meters in size as a two hundred meter island sat in the middle as the island was surrounded by water that appeared to have no bottom as they wouldn’t be able to see the bottom just by looking from the surface. “An artificial environment, how inter….!” Zao had began to speak about the artificial island that was centered in the lake of water but a portal opened up above the island’s center and a massive grey blur dropped from it slamming into the earth causing a powerful tremor to sweep under the two men’s feet. Even the scholar felt a bit unsteady by the tremor as the man shifted his feet into a wide stance to stabilize himself now, turning his gaze into the center of the island as they had been warped into the room on the edge of the island.

Defeat us or die, those are the only rules.” The same aged voice that the pair had been privy to hear earlier called out to them, the deepness of the elephant’s voice was almost like a pressure wave as it struct the pair a little over a hundred meters away from their current position. But when he said ‘us’, Zao expanded his mind’s eye around the two and could faintly sense a chakra signature behind them in the depths. “One in the water and one on the land, we’re trapped between them.” Though the man wasn’t scared to fight two spirits head on, but a hint of worry could be found in his voice as he spoke aloud to his friend without taking his eyes off the unusual looking elephant spirit before him as the two men were in a bad spot. Within the right two arms of the elephant were two curved scimitars and in the left arms was a massive shield almost as large spirit itself.

Shield and sword was a powerful combo and the spirit had more swords still on its belt along with golden armor, breaking through its defense would be tough. But their was also the unknown spirit hiding in the water behind them now that was a wild card as to what kind of spirit and what fighting style the creature had. His right arm glowed as the ground underneath the pair was filled with golden chakra, the left arm shook lightly and the vine spirit slithered out as its both also glowed with an outline of golden chakra and it quickly began to grow to a size that even rivaled the massive elephant. In each of its six supplementary vines that were like arms coming off the thicker main vine a five meter long thorn grew forming into dagger like weapons. Pushing off the ground the now thirty meter long spirit vine flashed across the sandy earth of the island and slammed head on into the elephant which sidestepped slightly and slammed the shield into the attack sending Toge spirally off to the side. “Young spirits always trying to fight head-to-head, that won’t work against my Divine Bulwark style, little plant.” Though he spoke over confidently he had been able to judge the strength of the other spirit and it caused him to understand that he couldn’t fool around with this strange golden plant. It had strength on his own level somehow.

As the golden thorn vine clashed with the Kingu Zao turned towards the water, “Going to keep hiding?” The white haired jounin started off with a simple tactic to see if he could trick the spirit into coming to the surface to expose itself but what he was greeted with instead was a strange mass of chakra that began to fill the water working its way to the surface as a large slick of ink appeared floating up through the water. It cause for his sensory technique to become more or less blocked as the water was saturated by the spirit’s ink technique helping the creature to hide within the murky water waiting to ambush the pair if the opportunity arose. 'How annoying...'

Xiao Li, like his friend Zao, began collecting as many spare parts as he could in hopes that he could use them to augment and modify his own puppets. Or even use them to create all new puppets. However, once he was finished gathering everything that he could, he moved forward with his friend and went deeper into the maze. As soon as they passed through the new opening Xiao Li once again felt the sickening squeezing feeling of the space-time teleporting and immediately felt as though something was wrong when he appeared on the beach. "Something does not feel right about this place..." Just as Xiao Li had finished speaking he felt the earth shake and heard the booming voice of the massive spirit. The shaking alone forced Xiao Li to have to focus on staying standing, and then his heart chilled when he heard Zao's words about there being another spirit in the water. Xiao Li was always up for a fight no matter what, and even though he felt in his gut as though he was walking to his death he was still preparing for the upcoming battle. He knew that his body was telling him to run in the opposite direction, but Xiao Li also knew that he could not leave his friend Zao to fight this battle alone. Xiao Li had come to Juu no Kuni on his own this time and had luckily been saved by his longtime friend when he needed the man's help the most, so Li knew that now more than ever he had to swallow his fear and fight no matter what happened.

"I've got a bad feeling about this Zao...there is someone or something watching us. However, with that said old friend, I am going to do my best to at least tie down the beast in the water." As Xiao Li spoke he began to form hand seal after hand seal and even unraveled his puppet sealing scroll. As soon as Spike appeared Xiao Li's chakra strings were connected to him and chakra began surging into the tsukimogami seal on his head. As he charged chakra into the seal on Spike Xiao Li had Spike walk closer to the water, and finally released his EMP blast into the water. This blast of chakra not only parted the water which revealed what appeared to Li as a mass of tentacles, but it also blew apart the ink in the water that was hindering his friend's senses. "Why is it always something with tentacles when it comes to a water fight?" Xiao Li's discomfort with tentacle related beasts was evident in his voice as he caused Spike to open its mouth. Senbon after senbon began to fire out of Spike's mouth and into the water, which Li knew was not a very smart idea to begin with, but he wanted to try and draw the creature to the surface.

Post by Zao » Sat Dec 22, 2018 12:26 am

Do your best my friend, that is all a person can ask for. But don’t get too far in over your head.” Shifting his bright blue gaze towards his comrade a half smile rose up on the right corner of the man’s lips, his friend had a rather bad or unlucky habit of getting in over his head on things. Then he turned so that he could observe the method that the large elephant spirit had used to deflect the powerful momentum of his spirit vine using the plants own forward motion against him and easily knocking him to the side, if it had just been the deflection then that could have been understandable but to also knock the spirit vine off to the side in such a manner meant that his strength was either very close or above that of Toge. Exhaling slowly he wanted to almost immediately call for backup for the spirit but it was only the initial clash and the plant had been a bit to confident to attack headstrong in such a manner to begin with. The serpent like golden thorn vine rolled with the impact of the shield and slithered across the ground like a snake as he went all out striking with all six limbs one after the other and sometimes two at a time but the shield techniques combined with the two swords that it wielded in the two right arms were enough to counter the advance and even injury one of the arm vines of the plant spirit.

Where the plant held the natural advantage in speed and strength the spirit elephant held a strong advantage in technique and fighting experience that had been gained over the few hundred years it had been alive. ‘Silly plant, you won’t be able to overwhelm such a solid defensive fighter through sheer strength alone.’ His mental words were sent out to Toge who heard them and gave a mental reply back that he would try a different strategy against the powerful opponent. Back to the octopus spirit that had concealed itself in the water filled with chakra laced ink Zao’s friend went into action and brought out his own puppet. He was once more exposed to the EMP blast attack that the spirit was able to use due to the Tsukimogami that held the dangerous spirit within it, but it was effect at dispersing the chakra in the ink causing for it to disperse slightly to reveal a mass of tentacles that had been headed towards the surface but immediately began to draw back now being exposed. Rapidly swimming down deeper into the water which seemed to be deeper than one might have thought at first glance as the senbon didn’t have the strength to push through the water to such a depth now as the water once more returned to its murky state leaving the spirit concealed beneath the water.

What they didn’t know was that the island was actually a floating one and it allowed for the octopus spirit to swim just under the edge of the island to use it as a means to silently approach underneath the water more ink being released to cloak the water at replaced the ink which had been neutralized by the EMP blast a few moments earlier. Then four long arms lashed out from the water to strike at the puppet wielded by Li at the moment, these were at the puppet’s full force but they were only probing strikes to see how strong the puppet was and how strong its master was. The octopus spirit didn’t plant to exit the water if it could be helped and its normal strategy was to drag its prey into the water followed with a combination of drowning and crushing them to death. Back to the golden vine spirit it had changed its tactics from straight power to a more agile motion as it began to come it at different angles and more so focused on its speed and precision of the attacks. Which seemed to be working but then the creature used its shield to attack and defend simultaneous as it performed a shield smash and dashed backwards creating a gap after knocking Toge of his rhythm.

Seems I’ll need to take you more seriously, little plant spirit.” The creature had a rather demeaning tone to its words as the elephant spirit spoke to Toge now as though it was talking down to a dog or something, each of its long trunks extended down and pulled a sword from one of the sheaths on the spirit’s waist now. Zao gritted his teeth together now as he had wanted for Toge to gain valuable fighting experience but this spirits defensive shield style truly was a hard counter to the strength based head on battling that Toge had grown accustomed to. With a blur of hand seals there was then a large cloud of chakra smoke that formed in front of Zao as a large, black furred gorilla with red skin stood towering above the two humans in between them and the two spirits fighting. Tarou’s speed based polearm style was something that would help to even the playing field a bit and allow for the two rivals to work together with one another to take down this powerful foe. With a flash of speed the ape appeared across the battlefield delivering a series of thrust that were hard to follow with one’s eyes as each of them tested the shield wielders skill as he blocked all but one that slipped by slashing the left shoulder of the creature . Before then immediately withdrawing and finding himself by the golden vine’s side. “Seems this big fellow was picking on you, little Toge.” The ape couldn’t help but poke a little fun at the injures visible upon the golden vine that had started to heal as golden chakra could be faintly seen glowing across its body and arm vines. With the two spirits fighting the elephant now Zao turned his attention back to the other spirit which had briefly attacked the puppet before now following up with a second attack in which he was trying to actually grab to hold of the large puppet and drag it into the inky depths of the lake.

As Xiao Li saw the tentacles burst from the water he ripped backward on his puppet strings in an attempt to pull Spike away, but in the end, he only managed to prevent Spike's head from being smashed to pieces. "Fuck! But at least the thunder spirit was not released! That would have been the death of us!" Xiao Li then used his chakra strings to pull Spike's head over to himself, and pulled a tag out of his pouch. After he filled the tag with his chakra a blast of wind shot towards the tentacles. While the blast of wind did not cause any major damage it did create some shallow cuts on a few of the tentacles. As the spirit felt the pain in its limbs it once again retreated into the water. While the spirit was hiding within the water Xiao Li resealed Spike's parts into his scroll, though he kept Spike's head with him in order to use it's Tsukimogami abilities. "Zao I am going to go out on a limb and say that I am on the weaker side of everyone here. If you've got a plan then I would like to hear it. If you don't...I'm just going to throw everything I have at this thing." As Xiao Li was talking he pulled out one of his smokescreen tags and filled his chakra with it so that he could buy them a little time.

Xiao Li knew that he was outmatched, but did not want to let his friend down, nor did he want to lose his one chance to enter into the land of curses. He knew in his heart that he would rather die than turn his back on this chance. Xiao Li mentally cursed himself for always focusing so hard solely on Tenkujutsu and the sealing arts. While he seemed to be a natural at it, it had severely lowered his combat ability, and he knew that he was only dragging his friend Zao down with him. He had suffered the same issues in the desert when he had attempted to fight the giant sand wurms and had ended up getting rescued by the Konohagakure shinobi. It was then and there that Xiao Li vowed to himself that no matter what he had to do he would raise his combat ability as soon as he returned to the village.

Zao turned his eyes back toward the waternqhen he had heard the sounds of wosod being smashed, turns out it was the puppet that Li had brought out being crushed from the blows of the octopus spirit's tentacles now. For now the spirit's attacks had been pushed back due to the wind attack from the young man's fuuin tag forcing it back fown under the water to recover and reassess for its next attack. With a mental command the sandy earth nelow the two men's feet began to glow with a faint golden chakra as the desert rose slipped its rose bud head out from underneath the man's right sleeve now. It had began channeling chakra into the sand around them in order to help defend her master and Li. "We will have to find a way to get that spirit up onto the beach, it has to much of an advantage in the water. If we can't then thing will become more exhausting for us."

As the scholarly young man spoke to his friend Li would feel the slender fingers of Zao's left hand fall onto his right shoulder as he would speak once nore now. "My friend, just because you specialty isn't head on combat doesn't mean that you are weak. And don't worry because we're hear together. Let's see 8f we can take care of this elephant first while we keep the water spirit busy for now." Their was a feeling of reassurance and confidence that could be felt from the man's words and body language as he spoke to his friend now, giving a gentle squeeze on his shoulder now before turning his gaze back onto the other spirit.

Though it was clear that Toge was on the same level of strength as the elephant spirit the unique shield style of combat led to him being unable to break through and ended with him being knocked away as the elephant had great footwork and knew how to work the angles of movement for advancing and retreating. Even with the truly amazing speed of the red faced ape he'd only been able to sneak in a single blow past the large shield, but thi was was due to the opposing spirit being unable to keep up with the sheer number of attacks that had just been made during the lat exchange. Yet, the sound was still only a shallow sound and unless he was able to land a more decisive blow it was quite possible that he would exhaust himself before heading this foe.

The large spirit understood the concept of attrition warfare and was something that he was well versed in, allowing opponents to simple exhaust themselves against his defense before then finishing them off with a multi sword attack and moving on. His divine bulwark some was well known in his home realm for being able to fight a number of enemies at one time and not fall into disadvantaged state. This was something that had been shown so far in the conflict but the elephant spirit was still not feeling as comfortable as he normally would have been in this situation due to the white haired human. From the labyrinth masters words earlier was that the human had two powerful spirits concealed on his person and he had only revealed the vine spirit so far. What other tricks or techniques did the man possess to have three powerful spirits following his commands?

"I've got to step things up and get that lackey octopus involved before I get into to bad of a spot." The massive thick skinned elephant spoke aloud but mainly to himself now as his aged eyes peered over the top of the large shield. Shield and swords in hand now he lifted his right tree trunk of a leg intonthe air before releasing a stomp filled with tremendous power that rippled outwards like an earthquake from the point of impact. It would be at this moment that they would discover how thin the island the two shinobi had been standing upon truly was as it began to splinter outwards from the epicenter of Kingu's stomp. Causing for the entire two hundred meter island to shatter into a series of smaller islands that now no longer offered the same stand off distance from the waters edge.

The earthquake made it difficult to stand as even Zao was forced to the ground having to use both hands to steady himself as the corner of the island the twonhad been standing upon broke apart like the rest of the island. Soon the pair of men found themselves standing on seperate five meter spots of island about five tonten meters apart from one another now as the quake withdrew and they would be able to stand back up. Yet the underwater spirit hadn't been effected at all as it surfaced near Li now and a pair of suction cup lined limbs shot out from the water attempting to ensnare the yoyng jounin now. While back at the other spirits the three had entangled once more as their blows and movements caused for small waves to be formed that pushed about the remaining spots of land as the water rose and fell.

As Xiao Li smiled at his friend Zao the ground began to shake and he was forced to the ground as the island broke apart. Xiao Li's eyes grew large as the bit of land that he was on floated away from Zao. Thinking quickly Xiao Li grabbed ahold of Sandstorm and channeled his chakra into it. This created a large sandstorm around him that moved around him at a speed and strength of twenty-five. As the sandstorm sprung to life the octopus' tentacles once more emerged from the water and attempted to force their way through the sandstorm. However, as Xiao Li saw the tentacles he once again used a Wind Shear tag to attack the tentacles. Because the octopus' tentacles were already fighting to resist the sandstorm Xiao Li's Wind Shear tag was able to force the tentacles away. Due to the way that the sandstorm formed around him Xiao Li was able to force all of the water around him to be pushed away and out of the sandstorm, which caused his little island to drop until it was suspended in the air by the winds of the sandstorm.

Because the sandstorm allowed Xiao Li to protect himself from the octopus, Xiao Li allowed himself some time to relax and think of a new plan. "Hey Zao! I'm good for now! I will see if can come up with a new plan from here! See if you can take out that elephant!" Xiao Li continued to channel his chakra into Sandstorm as he thought of anything he could do to beat the octopus spirit while Zao dealt with the elephant spirit. However, there was nothing he could think of at that moment except to stall. While he was stalling the wind caused the kunai hanging around his neck to bang together which gave Xiao Li the idea to use his barrier in an attempt to trap the octopus. Because he was able to feel everything that was going on within the sandstorm Xiao Li had an idea of where the octopus was because it was swimming around him looking for a weak spot in his sandstorm armor. This allowed Xiao Li to throw his kunai down into the water around the spirit as he was able to predict the area the spirit was going to be in once he activated his barrier. Once all of the kunai were in place Xiao Li formed the seals that were required to activate the seals, and his Tenkujutsu barrier erupted out of the water and trapped the spirit within it. Once the barrier was established Xiao Li jumped through his sandstorm, and out of the barrier and ended the sandstorm as he did so. As he landed on another piece of land Xiao Li looked around for his friend, and hoped that he would be able to contain the octopus long enough for Zao to take care of the elephant.

When Xiao Li channels an A-rank amount of chakra into the kunai, he is able to generate a A-rank strength sandstorm, and is able to move within the sandstorm unaffected. The circumference of the sandstorm is forty meters, and takes the shape of a sphere. While he moves within the sandstorm, Xiao Li is able to feel the location of every chakra source within the sandstorm, though he is not able to tell the difference between friend, or foe. The sandstorm spins at a speed of 25 with a strength of 25.

Four Pillar Containment is a inscription that is placed on four separate objects that are then used in conjunction with each other to make a barrier. The barrier is thirty meters tall, can be up to thirty meters squared wide, and has a strength of thirty. The barrier forms at a speed of twenty. Spirits, and their hosts, are unable to pass through the barrier, unless their mastery stat is higher than thirty.

Zao couldn’t help but turn on his heels as soon as he was able to stabilize himself after the island split apart into several small pieces that remained afloat upon the dark blue water now, he worried about his friend. It wasn’t because he felt Li was weak but after losing the three chuunin during the time the Suna shinobi and him were trapped within the spirit realms, he made a promise that if he could prevent such a tragedy from happening again. That was what caused for Zao to attack the spirit outside the wall with such a lack of care for what might have killed the spirit if Li had not sealed it away back then, the events in the other realms had changed the man a bit. But he was able to feel a bit more at ease as he watched the man go to work using both his Tsuki and tags in a combination attack that pushed back the strong beast.

“Very well my friend, be careful and retreat to link up with me if you need help.” Seeming to have things under control here the white haired jounin turned his bright eyes onto the three spirits that were clashing once more as he began to move now. Chakra instinctively flowed into his feet at this moment and the man began to strike across the water and scattered land alike at near top speed, appearing like a small white blur as he moved closing the distance upon the battle ahead. As he moved passed a few islands he tossed down a kunai onto head, both were ‘True Link’ originals from the left thigh holster which were put down in case he needed to make a quick retreat or to move back to help out his friend.

Toge and Tarou had begun to grow more use to fighting side by side, their attacks become more and more fierce and fluid as small wounds had begun to appear upon the elephant’s arms and legs but these were shallow cuts that did little to actually injury the shield wielding elephant. Even two on one, the spirit’s powerful defensive fighting style allowed for it to fight back and forth against the two, yet due to Toge’s great strength and Tarou’s lightning fast speed he was in much the same situation in which he could land a decisive blow upon them. Somewhere else within the maze a shadowy figure looked on through a space-time like distortion before them that looked like a portal, allowing for him to view the fight while not exposing him to the eyes of the intruders. “Kingu needs something to give him the edge help, perhaps this will help him.”

The shadowy palm of the unknown figure flipped upward and in the hand appeared a two foot jar that was clear, revealing the royal blue liquid that seemed to glimmer within. It was a special tool used to increase a spirit’s power by unlocking their untapped potential and or abilities along with increasing their size as well. It was one of the many rare items left from the rules of Juu to help control things within the labyrinth, though in the main time of Juu it wasn’t a rare item like it was now. Sighing at the thought have using such a thing he swiped his hand and the monitor like portal began to glow and then with a flip of palm downwards an unseen force through the glass container into the portal which transported it to the battle arena. But just at that moment when the contain was falling down directly for the large golden helm the great elephant wore he received a powerful combination attack that sent him skidding back across the water as some of the remaining land masses were destroyed.

So preoccupied with the battle none of the three even noticed the small jar which ended up crashing down onto the head of Tarou where it shattered and the blue liquid seemed to burn like a brilliant blue fire as it was a type of chakra that had been molded into liquid state by the container. But now it was like raw chakra as it began to seep into the ape causing for him to growl in pain and drop to a knee on the water. Toge quickly moved in front of him as the elephant narrowed his eyes, he’d seen that substance before but he’d never of thought that the maze master would attempt to use something, and that he’d have such shitty luck right now. The low growl of the ape could be heard as its body began to grow slightly now standing at a height of twenty five meters and the wounds upon its body were starting to heal.

“What was that?” Probably the only one as amazed or perhaps more so intrigued than the ape would have been Zao as he witnessed the changes occurring to his spirit companion. This mysterious country had so many questions with no answer. But the ape quickly returned to its feet as Zao arrived on the scene as well and leaped up onto the red faced gorilla’s left shoulder, “How do you feel?” He spoke with a normal gentle tone, wondering what side effects the strange chakra had upon his spirit companions, a deep voice spoke in return. “Refreshed now..” Shaking his head lightly the jounin smiled a bit and then leaped up into the air extending his palm outwards and drew forth a powerful slab from his realm, a ‘Large Explosive Stone’. The twenty meter stone appeared almost out of thin air as Zao appeared to almost hang within the air before chakra kai was used and a powerful explosion rang out consuming the elephant which could only bring up its shield to guard.

The water was pushed outward from the explosion as the injured elephant was thrown back as the powerful shield was shattered from the force of the blow and he would slam back first into the unbreakable wall of the arena. ‘Bind him!’ As the white haired man spoke out to his golden vine spirit Toge had already started to move pushing forward with amazing speed as he flashed across the large waves of water now as the elephant had begun to slide slowly down the wall barely conscious at the moment. A few moments later it started to come around only to find that the golden vine had it bound tightly and it was at this time he was able to truly confirm that the spirit was even stronger than himself. As the scholarly man began to fall himself towards the water a blur of black and grey caught him, his spirit Gorilla had extended a wrinkled, red skinned hand for him to land on, landing in a knelt position now as they pushed forward.

No time was being wasted as the right hand of the man had already began to glow with a brilliant maroon chakra which was obviously Tenku chakra, with a leap upon arriving at the wall the thin man landed upon the elephants exposed head, the helm formally upon it had been partially destroyed and the rests knocked off in the blast. Then the glowing maroon chakra covered hand was placed firmly onto the rough, grey leather skin but something was different. “What a powerful binding technique someone has placed on you…” He spoke aloud as he force more chakra into his own sealing technique attempting to break through the current one and place his own claim upon the powerful elephant spirit now, this would take about thirty seconds worth of time before he was finally able to undo the other seal and place his own upon King. Though this was accomplishable due to the seal having weakened on the spirit, Zao had his doubts if he would have been able to do so if it had not been weakened though time. The elephant seemed to stop resisting and passed out now…in that moment the bright blue eyes of the heavily breathing young man turned to see the situation with Li now…

Xiao Li had been able to catch the end of his friend's battle with the giant elephant and began to smile brightly as he watched Zao place his spirit mark on the elephant. This left Xiao Li with a feeling of victory, and he was about to rush over and congratulate his friend on his newly acquired spirit when he was ripped off the island by four tentacles that wrapped around each of his limbs from behind. Because he had been so engrossed with watching his friend battle the elephant spirit, Xiao Li had not noticed that the octopus spirit he thought he had trapped within his barrier had escaped. The shockwave from Zao's explosion and the elephant spirit falling into the water had caused one of Xiao Li's kunai to come loose as the water rushed past it which had, in turn, released the octopus spirit. As he was ripped backward Xiao Li could feel the octopus spirit tightening its grip on his limbs and began to pray that the spirit did not drag him underwater. Drowning was a major fear of Xiao Li's, one which he usually did not have to face because he lived in a desert where there was a distinct lack of deep water.

To his surprise though, the spirit kept him above the water and high enough in the air for Zao and his spirits to see Xiao Li perfectly. As he was suspended in the air Xiao Li heard a high pitched voice come from behind him, and it sent chills down to his bones. "Very good. I never liked that elephant, to begin with. However, everything must be even. You defeated Kingu so I will defeat your little friend here, though you spared that fool. I shall not do the same to your friend." As the octopus spirit finished speaking it once more tightened its hold on Xiao Li's limbs, except this time it jerked its tentacles apart and ripped all four of Xiao Li's limbs off. The pain was so intense that Xiao Li immediately passed out as what was left of him fell into the watery depths below.

[PB] Into the Labyrinth

Post by Zao » Mon Dec 31, 2018 9:34 am

As Zao’s bright eyes managed to scan the distance after finishing placing his own binding seal upon the elephant, the snapped open to a point which was almost unbelievably wide now as the image came into view of his young friend now. It had truly only been a minute or two since leaving Li’s side but the octopus spirit that had been trapped within the powerful Tenku barrier when he left to deal with Kingu had somehow been broken. Suspended above the water by four long tentacles that each had found their own limb on the childlike body of the fellow Suna-nin, it was as though the spirit held a tiny ant in its grasp as the almost sinister words of the creature could be heard speaking about how it never like the elephant anyways but everything must be even. “Stop!!!” The normally soft spoken man yelled at the top of his lungs across the great distance which was on the other side of the room where the spirit and Li were in comparison to the three spirits and himself.

Even before the creature started to tighten its grip the man had already used the slender fingers of the right hand to touch a kunai upon the right thigh which at the same time the palm of the left hand flipped up towards the vastly tall stone ceiling above them. In the blink of an eye he’d already traversed about three fourths of the distance due to the use of his space-time kunai and its ability to instantaneously connect him back to the original. As he appeared on the small piece of land in an almost crouched position a violent ball of raw chakra was forming in the left palm, expanding from the size of a marble up to the size of a soft ball in a moments time. Using all the strength in his toned legs, the scholar pushed forward summoning everything he had to attempt and make it over to his comrade before the octopus could perform the vile act that it wished to do.

Back with the two spirits it took a moment to realize the situation but both also forgot about the elephant, dropping him into the water as he managed to land on his back and floated silently atop it, both dashing towards their master’s new position now with the faster Tarou taking the lead and Toge being in a close second. Even with his amazing speed not even Tarou would be able to cross such a distance to even catch up to where his master was let alone help save the friend of his master. Zao’s eyes began to fill with water as with a powerful pull of its suction cup covered limbs now, jerking them apart from one another in four different directions which in turn ripped off the thin limbs of his comrade. Tears streamed down his face, was Li going to be another friend that he would be unable to save? The tear covered face twisted into an expression of rage as the orb that was the size of a softball increased in size up to the side of a basketball now as he arrived in the air just as the tentacles were attempting to withdraw into the water for safety.

“Just die!” Flipping the left palm downwards the arm jutted out and the orb flashed downward into the water to the surprise of the spirit who had been preparing to withdraw into the depth of the water, it appeared right in front of its face and the tentacles of the spirit came up instantly to shield it. ‘Kai…’ The word was spoken mentally as the left hand came up forming a single handed seal while the right arm grabbed the limbless body of his friend in one motion, the word was filled with a tone of hate and desire to grant death upon the world. Underneath the water an S-rank explosion enveloped the octopus spirit at near point blank range severing its tentacles used to block the attack as the underwater pressure wave created knocked the creature unconsciously. Now both arms came around as the blood from the leg and arm closest to the white robed man’s body began to turn his robe crimson, cradling him as he landed on the water the man would take another leap until he found a small piece of solid ground. What the same thing as before with Nori and himself in the spirit realms about to happen again?! Both hands gentle laid the man down on the ground, “Nori my friend, I’m sorry…”

Though the man didn’t wallow in sadness or pity, he hadn’t given up on save the man as he had to do with those others, all the medical training that he’d done would not be for nothing! Both palms came together making a powerful clap sound as he exhaled and summoned forth chakra from within his deep reserves now. A misty sea green chakra would quickly envelop his hands before he went to work trying to treat the man who had most likely already fallen into shock from the blood loss, the hands separating as one went to the nearest arm and leg injuries. Attempting to use the chakra to stop the blood loss which would be the thing which was quickly lead to the shinobi’s death, a person being able to bleed out in as little as a minute. But he quickly realized that he wasn’t able to close the wounds off fast enough by himself and made a tough decision to create a shadow clone, who made the same movements as he did earlier and both were now using the Mystic Palm techniques.

Compared to other techniques of a similar rank, the technique was one that was not only harder to perform due to the control requirements of the technique but also it was more draining and one could not lose focus on the technique as it would quickly fail. Failure would mean the death of another friend…Zao couldn’t fail…he just couldn’t…as their master attempted to save the tiny man both spirits would arrive forming type of security perimeter around the white haired shinobi. Off in the shadows of a distant part of the maze the master of the labyrinth narrowed his eyes, saving the young man would have been an easy feat for him but it was not his place to interfere in the matters unless it pertained to the maze he was assigned to water over as he simply shook his head and watched now. Back within the water covered arena the area began to suddenly change as the realm summoning overlay which had been activated within the battlefield faded and the water and island disappeared as though it had never been there leaving the two unconscious spirit face down now on the cold stone floor, the same for Li as Zao didn't even have the time to think about the sudden change and only maintained one hundred percent of his focus upon attempting to save his comrade's life...
