[PB] The Voyage Begins

Post by Izanagi » Wed Jan 16, 2019 12:35 am

It was both unsettling and exciting to set forth on a voyage beyond Water Country. The destination was one in fact that to Shinji’s knowledge no Kirigakure shinobi had set foot in before. By traditional means it would take weeks to arrive in Earth Country, at least 4 days by ship alone to travel south around Tea Country and then banking around to shore in Oasis before making their way towards Grass Country and then into the Land of Earth. For shinobi at least the land travel could be reduced to a matter of 2 or 3 days however the ship portion remained painfully slow. The young Karagata of course was quite familiar with being aboard a ship, his family after all dominated the shipping industry and made up a bulk of the Kirigakure navy, having a hand in all matters pertaining to the Seas. So too was the newly promoted Special Jounin familiar with fighting off pirates which was a somewhat common occurrence especially when ships sailed unmarked by the Kirigakure symbol such as this instance when it was necessary to travel through waters within the territory of the Land of Fire.

What was far more disconcerting than the idea of run-ins with pirates or foreign shinobi however was the company Shinji had on this journey; Murumasa Maido. The Blood witch was more than enough insurance to protect the Jinchurriki that was Shinji, that was if that was actually her intent. Despite being a Jounin that carried power beyond that of even the villages most skilled Bannin, the woman, if you could even call her that had spoken openly of her desire to see the world rid of Jinchurriki, instead having the Genma roam free. Moreover she had also voiced her displeasure with the village as a whole, believing it to have abandoned her in her many years of solitude. Shinjiro was not one to question his superiors but even he had his concerns over the decision to send the two of them together on such an important Journey.

The pair had departed the previous day on a small but quick ship known as a Caravel, a crew of no more than fifteen individuals. A ship of such size and design was often used for fishing though was well suited to travelling across Oceans, making it ideal for the moderate distance of the voyage as well as the inconspicuous nature they desired. From what Shinji understood of his companion she wasn’t the most patient nor subtle though he hoped that if he could just keep his head down and keep to himself they would eventually make it to land without hassle. Laying down in his cabin bed, situated right next to another small cabin for Maido, the teenager listened to the constant waves, creaking of the wooden boards and the sound of seagulls noisily squawking about. They were likely just passing by the bottom tip of the Land of Fountains heading towards the direction of Starfall Island, known as the most dangerous place in the world. Though when they did come to pass such a treacherous place the captain would surely keep closer to the Land of Tea despite the greater chance of piracy or blockades. After all even shinobi feared the immense spiritual presence of Starfall Island.

Perhaps one day when he was stronger Shinjiro would be interested in testing himself against the vast array of Legendary spirits that resided there. For now he was content to think about what awaited him in Iwagakure. The cold wasn’t something he was looking forward to but surely he would at least be able to get a better grasp of the strength of their shinobi this time around, unlike back in the recent trip to the Land of Fountains that had served as the initial staging ground for this newfound alliance. It was practically in the backyard of Water Country and unbeknownst to him a pair of other shinobi had already been sent to take the land under the control of Kirigakure but he and Maido had their own purpose and that was to Strengthen unity between the two villages.

Hmm. Boat travel seemed awfully slow, Maido mused to herself. Was it faster back in her day? No. She racked her brain momentarily and recalled that ship travel used to be much slower. Granted of course, Kirigakure's ships were always the fastest in the world. She supposed that was something, after all. The ship she found herself on today she guessed was faster still than a few hundred years ago. Interesting. Still, Maido couldn't help but think that the journey would go much quicker if she were to fly the two of them there. After all, it would be just the two of them.

Admittedly, she couldn't believe that the village would trust her to escort this jinchuuriki alone. She supposed it was likely one of their lovely little trust exercises. Hmm. Still, there really wasn't anything stopping her from simply ending the poor things life and unleashing the genma inside upon the world. My, Vorashu would surely love that. She found herself absentmindedly strolling about the ship. She bothered no one. Well, not intentionally. It would appear that people got out of her way whenever she approached. Fear was the dominant emotion at play here, she could tell. Perhaps flying would be more fun after all. Bah. Being patient was not exactly one of her virtues. Perhaps it would pay to learn.

She looked across the horizon. Oceans as far as she could see. A few ships up ahead in the direction they were going. At first, Maido didn't particularly pay them any mind. However, as they drew closer she realized that the ships were turning from their original positioning and now heading towards them. "Oi...little one. You and Vorashu are on good terms I hope." She didn't think about it, but those were likely the first words she had spoken to Shinji on this journey. He seemed sturdy enough. Vorashu's hosts always were. Whether he was any good or not remained to be seen. But seen soon enough, she could tell. "Pirates...How cliche. I guess some things in Water Country never change, eh?"

The ships drew nearer. Maido pondered. Would it be better to take the fight to them, catch them off-guard? She supposed the pirates would not expect their own ships to be boarded by a mere two individuals. A surprise attack would likely be an easy success for Maido and Shinji. Would it even be necessary? "Vorashu...care to lay waste to some humans with me?" She began to slew together some hand seals. If Shinji didn't resist, her grip would exert itself over his body and Maido would use her blood prowess to fling him into one of the oncoming ships. A human missile. She sent him at the nearest of the ships, but there would still be three others after that. She wondered how he would fair. Should she even help? For now, she would merely observe.

After some time Shinjiro decided to go leave the cabin in favor of going up to the deck. There wasn’t much of anything to do aboard the ship, socializing wasn’t his forte especially with the dozen or so deckhands, none of which seemed particularly interesting to a shinobi of his calibre and upbringing. Beyond resting, eating and exercising the only thing he could do to occupy his time on this journey was to watch the horizons and be pro-active in the event that they would run into any trouble. Fortunately the teenager wasn’t plagued by any form of sea sickness, his balance was impeccable and he could move about the ship without any trouble at all. Sitting against the main mast and the slight shade that it offered him Shinji lowered his mask enough that he could easily breathe in the salty air though he kept his hood up. His body was warm beneath his clothing which covered him completely from the sun’s rays. Out on the open water there was no mist and so it felt considerably hotter than back in Kirigakure.

He noted Maido had also come on deck but paid her little mind. They had mostly ignored one another thus far and he didn’t expect that to change anytime soon. Occasionally he desired to simply fly or swim across the Ocean himself, he was sure Maido was equally restless despite both of them showing good composure. Rationally though he knew that the village set them on a ship for a reason, they likely wanted to be able to verify the two were in fact headed towards Iwagakure. No doubt the captain of the ship was tasked with sending back a report to the Mizukage at his earliest opportunity. Unlike most Jinchurriki however this was not Shinjiro’s first time travelling outside of the village, in fact he was quite familiar with having a sense of freedom when it came to travel though he knew that much of that was a façade. There was always someone keeping tabs on him. He was too valuable to be allowed to truly roam free.

Shinjiro also noticed the ships on the horizon. It was difficult to discern exactly what make of ships they were from his position and their distance but as they turned towards their position he knew what to expect. Standing up slowly he began to stretch, more of a habit than anything. His muscles were always limber and ready for action. He smiled slightly as Maido spoke to him. “Yeah…we’re ready” he responded, his green eyes gleaming with determination. There were times where he enjoyed combat but mostly he was just grateful for the opportunity to appease his boredom. Yet still he took every altercation seriously and never underestimated his opponents, even simple pirates. After all the one time you let down your guard could easily be when you face your strongest opponent yet. “This is good. I was getting bored” he admitted.

As the ships drew closer it was clear that there were four in total, each significantly larger than their vessel though not too large as to be too slow to attack swiftly. Still, there was a chance they could outrun the pursuers. Raising his voice, Shinji would address the captain who was already scrambling the crew together to take evasive actions. Being a small vessel, they could practically turn on a dime and if they were closer to a shore they might have had the advantage of being able to better navigate channels and inlets. Out on the open water however they could only maintain a speed advantage under favorable weather conditions. “Head for the nearest shore and maintain distance!” he instructed with considerable authority despite his youth and relatively average stature. Of course he had no intention of running away himself but he wanted the pursuers to think they were. It seemed Maido had the same idea. Despite her terrifying power or perhaps in part due to it, Shinji quite liked Maido and he reveled at the thought of letting loose a little alongside her. His chakra cloak flared up, glowing green as his hair grew longer and twisted into braids, pushing back his hood. His arms and legs too grew a few inches longer, giving him a slightly lanky and disproportionate look. Having directly entered his ascended second form, the highest he was currently capable of he could feel Vorashu’s presence as strong as ever before, as if the Genma was truly merged and a part of him. “We shall turn the sea red and feast upon their flesh” Vorashu responded, speaking through Shinjiro, though even the young Karagata felt himself resonating with those words, his desire too being to display the might of Kirigakure through him.

Feeling his blood being manipulated, lifting him off his feet Shinjiro offered no resistance. It was time to wreak havok and in the spirit of that desire he trusted Maido implicitly. She had a reputation for carnage after all. The speed at which he was flung towards the nearest ship was staggering though not beyond the realm of what he was accustomed to. His body naturally positioned itself aerodynamically, feeling completely comfortable in the air. Maido had saved him the chakra necessary to grow wings of his own or transform into a bird and so he wouldn’t bother with such a tactic. His goal was not to waste time with reconnaissance but rather strike hard and strike fast and what better way than to completely destroy their lead ship before they even had time to react. As he came within 20 meters Shinjiro instantly transformed into a massive black sea turtle of mythical status, resembling the legendary creature Genbu. The moment he transformed he would strike the ship, still moving at 50 Speed and Strength as per Maido’s remarkable chakra control. With a bladed shell and front flippers and a powerful beak the ship would be no match for the 20 meter tall, 25 meter wide and 30 meter long creature. It would smash through the bow, hull, over half of the deck and the mast causing catastrophic damage and creating massive tidal waves in its wake which would threaten to sink the surrounding ships and knock many crewmembers overboard as well as scatter their formation.

Without wasting any time Shinjiro would begin to swim at a speed of 29, keeping a reasonable depth as he aimed to slice up any surviving crewmembers that had been thrown overboard, biting some in half with 42 Strength as he passed by them with the goal of ramming into the nearest of the surviving ships. Against any ordinary group of pirate ships he would have decimated them all in a matter of seconds, taking only a few minutes to finish off the survivors, however these individuals were far from ordinary as he would surely soon discover.
Jutsu UsedShow
Genbu
A-Ranked Kaerujutsu
Prerequisite: Form 2
Having entered the second form, Shinji can transform himself into am enormous black turtle. With a height of 20 meters, a width of 25 meters and a length of 30 meters the creature is truly a sight to behold. Short, wide blades line the back of the creature’s shell and similarly its swimming arms are dense and sharp. In this form Shinji can move much more easily in the water than on land, traversing the seas and wreaking havok. The mouth of the black turtle is beaked and dense enough to crush through stone and wood alike while being large enough to easily bite a man in half or swallow him whole. The durability of its shell is equal to Shinji’s Strength+Stamina/2. In this form Shinji gains +9 Strength, +9 Stamina at the cost of - 6 Speed, -6 Instinct.

Totem Style • Body Slam
A-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 35 Strength
Often utilizing the size or strength of one of his larger transformations Shinjiro will propel his body upwards and then slam down with all of his might causing large scale damage around him. Shockwaves equal to 4/5’s of the user's Strength will emanate in a 100 meter radius causing a pressure blast that can also create earthquakes, cave-ins or tidal waves depending on the terrain, which carries the same strength of the shockwave, delivering damage on a large scale.

That which had just transpired was very pleasing to Maido, she had to admit. She wondered how the host to Vorashu would react to being turned into a missile. She was delighted with the outcome. Seeing the young man transform into such a meteor of a creature was most fascinating in and of itself. The destruction the combination caused was just a pleasant bonus on top of it all. The ship he collided into was all but erased from existence entirely once the gigantic waves Shinjiro had created caused even more havoc than the initial impact had created. Did Maido even need to help beyond what she had? For certain, it would seem that her accomplice had things under control.

Still, surely that wasn't all there was to the confrontation. The other three ships nearby had many humans on board, she observed. She could see that many of them were performing hand seals. Shinobi? Missing nin. Hmm. That could be bad. But they probably were not of any significant caliber, she mused. She hadn't been informed of any exceptionally powerful rogue ninja in the area. So they couldn't be all that strong, she figured. On the other hand, their was quite a rather large number of them and they were nowhere near close to their destination. Should she deal with them herself? That may be best used as a last resort, she decided. For now, she would watch from a close distance and jump in only if it seemed Shinjiro and Vorashu were in actual trouble...

To be fair, her definition of "actual trouble" may be slightly different from Shinjiro's.

The other ships were very much set to be rocked and ravaged by the massive tidal waves created by the impact the three of them had caused. However, a protective bubble of sorts had formed around the three ships, causing the tidal wave of wash around the ships of the missing nin. A collaborative effort, Maido noticed. Many jutsu had formed seals simultaneously to cause a combination of fuuton and suiton chakra to envelop the ships and create a bubble of defense. Maido's own ship was not so fortunate. She ripped off a chunk of her cloak and willed it onto the back end of the ship she was on, utilizing her control over it's movements to turn the ship very quickly in a direction that she hoped would allow the ship to be moved out of harms way naturally. Once happy with the direction she had hastily decided on, she pushed with the chunk of cloak she had detached, causing the ship to move very violently and quickly in a straight line, away from the remaining pirate ships. It may take a residual hit from the massive wave Shinjiro, Vorashu, and her self had created, but it was more likely that the wave would now push the ship even further away from the fight.

Maido turned her attention away from the ship, having floated herself away from it already. She looked back towards Shinjiro. In his massive turtle form, he seemed very much at home in the water, tearing through the remnants of the ship and torpedoing himself towards the next nearest one. While en route, a rather large being suddenly rushed out of the water in front of him, spinning rapidly and aimed directly at Shinjiro's giant turtle face. If one had the ability to perceive it, it was a very large clam. A very large clam. A summon spirit of quite large proprotions, it was very similar in size and structure to Shinjiro's turtle form. The ninja on the ships had made a collaborative effort to summon the being which was immediately sent spinning along the water towards him. If impact occurred, Shinjiro and Vorashu would find that the clam's durability was on par with their own in that instant. The clam additionally seemed to be producing quite a lot of steam in its wake, clouds of hot steam being produced along its trajectory and filling the area behind itself.

The steam created by the clan seemed to be gathering together, forming into a chakra-based construct of sorts. Eventually, the steam collected together into the form of a whale. At a nice twenty meters long and ten meters wide, the whale made of hot steam followed closely behind the spinning clam, the two of them moving in a straight line with intent to ram into Shinjiro head-on.

Notes:
Steam Whale is Yugeton-based and cast with 35 strength. It moves at a speed of 35.

Post by Izanagi » Mon Sep 02, 2019 11:36 pm

Though he didn’t like to admit it, Shinjiro was growing to quite enjoy the destruction and havok that often ensued when he transformed, and this was perhaps the highlight of it all thus far. To destroy an entire ship instantly, dozens of individuals killed on impact, others crippled and made to suffer a death by drowning and still others being ripped limb from limb or completely in two by his powerful pincer-like beak. One or two of the more battered and injured individuals he even swallowed completely, leaving them to be crushed and suffocated by his powerful throat muscles before being dissolved in his stomach. Vorashu too revelled in the carnage, blood flowing freely in the Sea and already attracting local sharks. That would be a transformation to master for a later date.

In the depths of the Sea however Shinjiro was unable to notice the many shinobi aboard the remaining ships. That was until the protective barrier formed around them as he approached at ramming speeds, intent on sinking another vessel. ‘They might just put up a challenge’ he reflected; his training urged him to show caution though the primal urges that flowed through him begged him to meet the adversary head on. He was stronger now after all, a true elite shinobi. There was a certain level of confidence that came with that. ‘We will not cower in the face of their defiance, ravage them, show no mercy. My creatures have come to feast upon their corpses, and I will not have them denied.’ Vorashu demanded, his voice booming louder than normal as his own blood raced, for the hunt had begun. ‘Heh, we’ll kill them alright’ the young assassin agreed, finding this cooperation rather pleasant for the time being. It seemed to serve Vorashu well being awarded more freedom to explore the countryside and kill humans at every turn. Shinjiro too had grown to dislike being cooped up within Kirigakure for extended periods of time. There was so much more of the world to explore, thousands of species of animals to draw upon for inspiration and a wide range of landscapes and habitats to familiarize himself with. The dreary mist village was still home but it was a place he was bound to out of loyalty and a place he associated with training and strength.

Shinjiro breached the surface, aiming to propel himself out of the water and belly slam against one of the shields to test its strength. He was intercepted however by a large clam summon, a size comparable to his own. Naturally Shinjiro withdrew his head for protection, letting the clam strike against his shell. It was strong, enough to rock him backward and cause him to halt smack down on the water once more. Extending his head once more he advanced, drawing his powerful flippers against the water as he aimed to grab the clam and crush its shell with his jaws. If he was able to grab a hold, he would find its shell quite durable, though if it was of a similar strength to his own shell, he would be able to overcome its defences and at least crack its surface in a firm grip. The hot steam it expelled was a minor nuisance for the time being, his current form was quite resistant to heat being mostly hard bone. Holding the clam in his jaws like a frisbee he would advance aiming to use the summon like a weapon to smash against the closest ship’s barrier, hitting it several times as long as he could keep it within his grasp. The Steam whale that had been forming however would likely be more problematic. As it closed in to ram into him Shinjiro would keep hold of the clam and dive straight down. He wasn’t particularly familiar with steam but surely the heat and therefore the primary form of the creation would be difficult to maintain under water.

Maido was admittedly impressed by how quickly Shinjiro seemed to think on his...flippers. He grappled the giant clam summon and used it as a battering ram against the next ship of pirates. The pirates of said ship did hastily leave the ship, to be fair. A series of jutsu cast out and provided platforms of various natures for them to stand above the ocean. Some of pure chakra, one appearing to be of wood, another of stone. Not quite what she was expecting for sure. Still, the whale of steam was closing in on him quickly. It had been quite a while since Maido had felt the heat of anything, but if she recalled correctly steam formulated from chakra was no laughing matter. The Jouchaku were a powerful clan, after all. Nevertheless, it did seem that Shinjiro at least had something in mind to deal with it, taking the clam downwards into the water below as the Yugeton whale crashed into the depths to follow them.

Funny thing, chakra. The whale was not entirely dismissed due to entering the water but rather begin to expand in size, becoming a very large scathing mass of hot yugeton chakra. As it dived into the water towards Shinjiro and the clam it nearly doubled in size. Truth be told it wasn't exactly the outcome that Maido had been expecting. Still, Shinjiro had already made well to deal with several of the ships of pirates. After thinking on it for a moment, Maido realized that it was quite odd that this many pirates had congregated together on this day specifically and specifically targeted the boat with her and Shinjiro on it. Kirigakure had all but eradicated piracy for the most part, supposedly. The presence of Yugeton suggested that Jouchaku were involved. Though that may not necessarily be true, the clam was the one that created the whale after all...

Still. Today was an odd day for this number of pirates to target them specifically. It seemed to Maido as though they were very intentionally being targeted. Which means the pirates knew they were coming. Which means someone within the Mist had let leak that they were coming. If the pirates knew that Maido was to accompany Shinjiro, then they must feel awfully confident about their abilities to deal with the two of them combined, let alone just one or the other. Should she intervene? For now things seemed to be going just fine. Well, fine was relative she supposed. The Yugeton whale homed in on Shinjiro as the clam managed to break free from the grasps of his jaws, spinning away at a frightening speed and visibly surging with chakra as it did so. Above the waters, likely out of Shinjiro's ability to see clearly, pirates were beginning to perform jutsu again. Maroon chakra encircled a few of them, chains of it lashing out beginning to lash out towards Shinjiro at a rather decent speed.

The clam suddenly emitted a very large blast of water. A ring-shaped forced flew backwards from it back the way it came, towards where Shinjiro had lost his grip on it. The maroon chakra was worrisome to Maido. She knew exactly what that color of chakra entailed. This meant that the pirates had most certainly been anticipating Shinjiro. But perhaps they had not anticipated her specifically as his escort? They didn't seem to be paying her much of any mind. Perhaps that could be used to her advantage. Maido began to channel chakra, moving closer to the great battle below. She send a wave of distorted red chakra towards Shinjiro. It rifled through the air towards him and would likely draw attention to herself immediately, but that was fine. As soon as her chakra touched Shinjiro, he would find that his limbs had become numerous. Whatever form he was in would sprout four pairs of additional "arms". Each of the twice the length of his normal. They would be quite sturdy and useable of his own will. Should he change forms, the "arms" would change to match.

This did cause Maido to become much more noticeable in the scene. Immediately, blasts of fire and lightning and boulders of rock began to fly towards her.

By tacking on an additional chakra cost, if a target has had their blood infused by her chakra, she may perform jutsu on them that are typically reserved for her "host body" so long as they are within her kinesis range.

Steam was proving to be a much more dangerous element than Shinjiro had initially thought. He had never fought a Jouchaku before and now he regretted that lack of experience. Just when he was about to attempt to toss the clam into its own steam creation, the summon managed to break free. 'Tch, slippery bastard' he grumbled. Unless he took out the clam the steam whale would seemingly continue to grow in size and become more dangerous. There were however a few other options. Now that the clam was moving away there was sure to be a maximum range the whale could move from its creator. Moreover if Shinjiro killed the individuals who summoned the clam in the first place then the supply of chakra keeping it in this realm would also be severed.

These were both tactics he could implement. The unfortunate thing however was that while he continued to swim deeper into the Ocean at a Speed of 34 the Steam whale was very slowly but surely closing the distance moving at a Speed of 35 and with its sudden doubling of size the outer edges of the steam was actually already burning his back flipper-like legs. He felt Maido's blood appendages grow out from his body, a startling turn of events but not something he would question. Improvising quickly he would control the back set of blood arms to reach behind him and crash into the steam whales head in an attempt to see if he could even do any physical damage to this thing. As he felt the water pulse coming toward him Shinji would suddenly turn away from it rather than continuing to go straight down, putting the whale between himself and the oncoming attack in an attempt to further disrupt this monstorous creation and put distance between the clam and the whale in close pursuit of himself.

He hadn't yet noticed the Tenkujutsu chains, likely being far to deep under the Oceans surface for anyone above water to even see him let alone reach him with conventional techniques. If the steam whale managed to continue to close in an inflict burns on him he would resort to transforming back into his natural form and therefore swimming at a much faster pace of 40 Speed as he changed his trajectory toward the surface.

Hmmm. The thought that the Pirates knew that Shinjiro was a Jinchuuriki and were expecting him was very troubling to Maido. She doubted these would be the only hurdles the two of them would face on their way to Iwagakure. She remained ever vigilant, ready to lend a hand to the young host of Vorashu should the need arise. She knew though the the young one was likely eager to prove himself. She thought it highly possible as well that he would enjoy being able to call on Vorashu's power in a more open area such as their current setting. It was likely not a chance he got very often while confined within the walls of Kirigakure.

The maroon chains were great in numbers in length, but not long enough to reach into the depths of which Shinjiro had sank. It would take a feat of god-like power to reach him at such a distance. The boy was a quick thinker, positioning some of his opposition against themselves. A gigantic pulse of suiton chakra spurted through the water towards him at a frightening speed, but it collided with the Yugeton whale in what was a rather large blast. A good impromptu decision on Shinjiro's part, it would seem. The whale dispersed, but the clam remained still as a threat to be dealt with. It surged with chakra again, Maido noted. Very brightly. Jolts of yellow sparks rippled along its shell. Was it time for her to step in? She worried about what a powerful Raiton jutsu might accomplish in this large body of water.

She reached out with her arm, willing the infusion within Shinjiro to move him. High into the air she would bring him, through the surface of the water and upwards even still. Her intention was to once again use him as what was likely the earth's greatest and most deadly cannon ball. This time, as a meteor. She only hoped that Shinjiro could read her intentions. She did her best to move him without pain or stress on his body. The pirates shot waves and waves of elements at him, but Maido was careful to help him avoid such problems. She would move him about in such a way so as to avoid the elemental missiles all together as she continued to move him higher and higher into the air. She paused for a moment, holding him high above the pirates. Her intention was to give him time to figure out whatever he was about to do before she plummeted him back towards the remaining ship with the full force of her kinesis.

It was quite likely that the pirates would not survive. She was curious however to see if he would remain as a turtle or choose a new form to slaughter them with. The water by now however was rifled and thick with Raiton chakra. The clam had created a very large zone of danger around the ship. Whatever creatures of the ocean may be nearby were easily electrified and dead. Fortunately, shinobi tended to be much hardier than simple fish. Still, it likely would not feel so great to the boy for him to become fully submerged.

Additionally, about a dozen more ships suddenly blipped into existence. As though summoned through the means of ninjutsu. More pirates, she would guess. This could prove quite troublesome.

Shinjiro was in fact quite enjoying himself. It felt good to test out his turtle transformation in the open waters, serving the purpose exactly as he had intended, combating ships and large aquatic summons. Similarly, the thought of ridding the world of dozens of missing-nin, many of which were likely Jounin level with likely some minor country folk that had been recruited and taught the ways of chakra. Still, he was determined not to leave any survivors to rally for another attempt. That sort of ruthlessness was simply how he operated though if a couple could be captured and interrogated than that would be ideal. As the young Jinchurriki evaded the steam whale he looked over his shell behind him just enough to notice that his ploy had worked, and the creation had been destroyed by its own creator. Rather than chase down the clan however he intended on simply killing those who summoned it, ascending to the surface before he suddenly noticed the crackle of electricity emanating from the summon which he had made sure to keep his sight on. ‘That could be bad’ he speculated, considering switching to a faster form, though the defence of the turtle might be advantageous if he wasn’t going to be able to evade the electricity in time. After all saltwater conducted electricity quite well and given the steam whale the clam had formed it was clearly capable of high level ninjutsu.

Deciding to commit to the turtle form until he reached the surface, he found that his decision didn’t really matter as suddenly his body ascended at a much faster speed. He knew this feeling, his blood pulling him along. It was uncomfortable and perhaps would have been painful if he didn’t have such a high tolerance. She lifted him high into the air and he smiled internally, that worked out well. He was just thinking of getting to the surface to take on an aerial form so that he could take out the last ship and the summoner of the clam without having to worry about fighting it directly. Focusing chakra throughout his body his form would flare green before he suddenly turned into a very large bird with red feathers. This was in fact his most advanced and fearsome transformation. While he was held in place in the air he focused for a few moments, increasing heat throughout his body as he nearly burst into flames with a visible aura of heat emanating from him.

He thought Maido might release him so that he could make a strafing attack on the last ship but as it turned out she seemed quite fond of their opening combination and aimed to replicate it again to some degree. Tucking his wings behind him Shinjiro would align his body properly for a diving maneuver, more aerodynamic than the turtle but still remarkably strong and fast even if he wasn’t being moved by Maido’s kinesis. As he neared the last ship, weaving around incoming attacks, Shinji would raise the temperature around one of his clawed feet shortly before the moment of impact, releasing it in a burst of flames that would set fire to the ship and all those on it as he smashed through the hull. Assuming Maido prevented him from being submerged he would aim to regain control of himself, flapping his powerful wings and almost instantly rocketing out of the wreckage, further fanning the flames with his wings as burning sailors screamed and dove off the wrecked ship that had been split clean in half. Those sailors that leaped into the water would find no real solace for before the flames were even extinguished, they would be heavily electrocuted and paralyzed, doomed to drown, conscious but in extreme agony. At the very least though the clam should have been dispelled, with it being unlikely that anyone would have survived that last attack.

Shinji had almost relaxed as he flew about 30 meters above the wreckage, searching for any survivors to grab and bring back to their own ship for interrogation. Surely there had to be a strong leader to this group of would be kidnappers, or perhaps they simply had strength in numbers and thought that would suffice. Certainly, though Shinji hadn’t expected more ships to arrive, a portal opening through some kind of high-level space-time ninjutsu. ‘Looks like the fun isn’t over yet’ he scoffed, it seemed daunting to face 12 more ships. By the end of this it was possible they would take the lives of hundreds of men, likely more than he had killed in the rest of his life combined. Well that probably wasn’t quite true but it was still significant. ‘Ocean-life will feast tonight, look at how they line up for death. Show them the might of Vorashu! Creator of the animal kingdom and protector of the natural world. I will not be satisfied until every last one of them is slaughtered and consumed!’ the Genma demanded excitedly. He had not had this much enjoyment for years.

Taking the initiative Shinji approach head on at a speed of 35 hoping to draw their fire and bait a good portion of the opponents into an offensive barrage which would occupy their time and help to drain their reserves. As he closed in, likely before many of them had released their techniques, Shinji would quickly accelerate to his full speed of 49, flanking around to strike their rear ranks that he hoped to catch off guard as soon as they came through the portal. He would target the last three ships to enter the battlefield. The first he would flap his wings, setting their sails and they entire deck of the ship ablaze with flames that while not immediately lethal would quickly spread and grow in intensity while also setting ablaze the clothes of anyone above deck, as he was passing by he would grab and rip the flaming mast right off the ship, flying with it for a short distance as he used his own immense speed and momentum combined with his strength of 47 to launch the large mast like a spear at the second ship, aiming to impale the hull and cause massive destruction while also spreading flames. The third ship in line of his strafing attack would also be met with a flap of his wings and the spreading of fire, though this one he peeled off before passing the mast. Even with his remarkable speed he didn’t want to give his enemies any significant time to predict his path of attack, his combination of strikes occurring within the span of about a second or two. Flying off he would gain a few hundred meters of distance before slowing to a more comfortable speed of 35 as he turned his head to assess the damage of his opening attack. This was not a pace he could keep up for too terribly long but as always, he fought to do maximum damage in a minimum amount of time, utilizing remarkable physical strength and speed to make every attack devastating.
Jutsu UsedShow
Shujakku
A-Ranked Kaerujutsu
Prerequisite: Form 2
After entering form two Shinjiro can transform himself into a massive red bird with a 25 meter wingspan, 12 meter long tailfeathers and deadly 7 inch long talons as well as a powerful beak with a mouth large enough to swallow limbs whole. The creature’s eyes are a fiery yellow. While in this transformation Shinjiro is granted +9 Strength, +9 Speed, +9 Stamina at the cost of - 4 Taijutsu, - 4 Control, - 4 Instinct.

*[Totem Style • Phoenix's Birth]
A-Ranked Taijutsu Stance
Reaching the point of unreal the adept is capable of focusing their mind and body to great lengths. They control the surface temperature of their skin to raise to unimaginable degrees, nearly causing them to burst into flames. They must focus for a full post but can sustain this stance for (stamina/5) posts. This heat does hurt but does not travel beyond the surface layers of their body, protecting the inner tissue. While in use the user moves constantly in wide arcs, dispersing heat rapidly to prevent too much damage.

*[Totem Style • Phoenix's Claw]
A-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: *[Totem Style • Phoenix's Flame]
The user locks their hands into a claw fashion and raises the temperature of their entire body to sweltering heights. In a powerful surge they thrust their hands forward, sending a pressurized wave of fire and air directly forward at a rate of 3/4 their speed. It strikes with a force of 1/2 their strength out to their strength in yards in a straight line. The flames are intense enough to cause combustibles to burn instantly and cause second degree burns. The user can not do this again for 2 posts else risk taking the full force of the burns to themselves.

*[Totem Style • Phoenix's Flame]
A-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: *[Totem Style • Phoenix's Birth]
A quick sweep of the user's arms causes the friction heat from the wind alone to ignite and send a swath of flames in a wide arc. These flames travel at a speed equal to 3/4 the speed of the user out to a distance equal to 1/2 the user's strength in yards. They're intense, igniting flammable materials on contact and causing first degree burns with every connecting flame.

More and more ships. How ridiculous. Maido was, admittedly, growing a bit concerned. Shinjiro was definitely handling himself rather well, but she was uncertain as to how much longer he would be able to keep this up. With a literal dozen ships appearing out of seemingly nowhere, it was quite likely that even the two of them at full force might become overwhelmed if those ships were full of capable shinobi and though Shinjiro laid waste to a great many of them in his phoenix-like form, she could see many hand seals being strung together.

It was time to intervene. She was ready to continue to journey towards Iwagakure. Maido was beginning to grow angry. The pirates just didn't seem to let up. The fact that someone within the village had betrayed the two of them was not surprising but still infuriating. Either someone wanted the beast within Shinjiro, or someone wanted her dead, or defamed. For all she knew, it could be all of those reasons and more. Her body surged with chakra. A violent, red, lively aura of chakra enveloped her body as she propelled herself through the air towards Shinjiro and the newly arrived ships. The scene was chaos...and Maido was an agent of chaos.

Suddenly, endless torrents of blood began to spew outwards from her being. It gathered around her and shaped into a colossal-sized being. Maido howled in anger. "That's enough!" Her voice pierced through the oceans. The mere sight of what was before them caused a great many of the pirates to tremble in fear. Still, many of them continued casting. Barrages of jutsu flew towards her and Shinjiro. To her however, it did not matter. Blood continued to spew forth from her being and gather. And grow. And consume. Ten meters tall. Twenty. Fourty. By the end of it, Maido had transformed into a thing from nightmares. A two hundred meter tall werewolf made entirely of blood. A hideously grotesque open, gaping maul was on its chest. Pulses of chakra emitted from it, infusing any living being nearby with her chakra. If it had blood, it was hers now. She brought her new arms down, crashing them into the ships. Though missiles of all types of elemental ninjutsu were thrown at her, it mattered not. What was damaged would repair itself over time. Her form was so huge. So monstrous. It was like having balls of paper thrown at her normal human form.

Her arms raised back up and her wolf-claw hands squeezed into fists. As this happened, a notable amount of the pirates were lifted into the air, seemingly against their will, before being crushed by what appeared to be an invisible force. Reduced to piles of flesh, bone, and blood. She continued this process. Any pirate that Shinjiro was not dealing with, she would be. Truthfully...it was probably a nicer death to allow Shinjiro to kill them. His was swift and likely painless. Hers was swift and excruciating. Shinjiro and Maido together, wrecking havoc? It was truly a force to be reckoned with.

This rampage of the two of them went on for quite some time. Any additional allies to the pirates that may have shown up would immediately regret doing so. As Maido grew angrier, she grew more savage. In this moment she lived only for destruction. She imagined that Vorashu quite enjoyed seeing this. At the end of it all, there would be quiet. Perhaps then, they could make it at least to the mainland undisturbed. Once the battling was over, she spoke to Shinjiro again. "Hmm. After we get back from Iwa...I think I want to head to Jinjeku Island and set some things into motion. Care to join me?"
jutsu used:
Chiton: Overwhelming Affliction
S-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: 50 Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra throughout a host body, Maido will suddenly begin to violently twist and warp as blood spews outwards from every available pore and orifice of her body, collecting around her and reshaping her into a giant bi-pedal wolf made entirely of blood, 200 meters in height. Arm span of 205 Meters, she will have a tail which extends from the base of her spine which by itself is an additional 200 meters in length. This change in size happens at a speed of 50 and the form has a durability/strength of 50. Her voice will change dramatically and ring through into people's very being. A large extra mouth adorns her chest in t his form, constantly emitting pulses of chakra that will infuse blood within 175 meters of her being, unless target(s) control happen to be equal or greater than her own. At the end of the tail is an additional mouth which constantly spews pulses of chakra which will infuse blood within 100 meters of it's tip unless target(s) control happen to be equal or greater than Maido's. This transformation will last for as long as Maido has stamina/until she dies, unless canceled prematurely.

[PB] The Voyage Begins

Post by Izanagi » Sat Nov 02, 2019 6:23 pm

Continuing to streak through the skies, blazing like a comet, the red phoenix rounded about for another attack. The flames of the first ship had been extinguished and there were stragglers still alive on the second too, though the third had been damaged severely and was sinking, members of the screw impaled by high velocity splintering and trapped by collapsing mast and sails. Dozens of sharks swarmed the ocean, turning the water red as the feasted on the corpses of the crew of the previous 3 ships that Shinjiro had devastated before the reinforcements had arrived. Screams bellowed out as the sun slowly began to dip in the late afternoon. Shinjiro’s heart bellowed with adrenaline, forgoing his stealthy training and controlled vital signs as he allowed bloodlust to consume him. Vorashu was downright elated at the carnage, ever wanting more. ‘Yes, kill them all, every last one! Remove this filth from the earth’ the Genma bellowed, practically cackling in primal excitement, willingly flooding its chakra into Shinji and fueling the murderous rampage. He couldn’t remember the last time he had felt so free and powerful.

For once Shinjiro was happy to oblige. He had no restraints when it came to killing, having tallied up close to one hundred total kills over the last five years, most of them pirates and mercenaries though there were some bodyguards, vagrants and rich merchants and political figures on the list. Many Kiri shinobi kept at least a rough tally of their kill count, a sort of bragging right to indicate their deadliness. By the end of the day Shiniro seemed fated to tally up enough to rival that of all but the most elite Jounin and Bannin, such a large force typically only being seen during wartime. To have hundreds of rogue shinobi and mercenaries gather together to overcome just two people, it was a remarkable honor to be regarded as so powerful. Nonetheless, he would show no mercy. He could only imagine the praise they would receive when the Mizukage heard of this battle. Though should they fail and be overcome surely the losses would be overlooked and played down and his reputation would suffer, being simply a failed host who was captured and killed. That was not acceptable. ‘Every last one. They’ll all die’ he affirmed.

Taking another pass and deftly avoiding jutsu, moving so fast that most would not be able to track him at all Shinjiro flew low gripped tightly on the ship that no longer had a mast, lifting it out of the water as he turned sharply and with a few powerful flaps of his wings built up his speed again before releasing the entire ship into the first one that had been damaged with fire. The two ships collided with immense force, creating a massive plume of water and splintered wood. Bits of debris would eventually float back to the surface though there were no survivors, most killed on impact and any others trapped within the ship succumbing to drowning or being ripped apart the ever-growing frenzy of sharks. This left 9 ships remaining, some of them larger than others though each containing between 30-60 men aboard. Surely many of them were ordinary crew members meant for sailing the ship rather than actual combat, though each ship seemed to have at least 5 shinobi. Some, like the ones in the first wave having as many as 15 trained in ninja arts per ship, most roughly B rank and skilled in combination jutsu with likely one or two A-rank shinobi on each ship. Though with Shinjiro’s ferocity and speed their will would begin to falter. Their strength in numbers had quickly began to diminish, having lost 6 ships already of their total 15.

And now Maido had been enraged, entering the battle and growing in size as blood formed all around her until she became a terrifying monstrosity. Shinjiro looked on in awe at the sheer size and imposing presence of this wolf-like blood form. It put his transformations to shame. While he was about 25 meters tall in this phoenix form, Maido was 8 times his size. Circling back around toward her Shinji would slow down to about 25 speed for a few moments, pacing his breathing as their enemies trembled in fear. “I’m glad I’m on your side” he breathed, exhaling sharply. He was getting fatigued but he’d be damned if he let her finish them all off completely on her own. With the amount of adrenaline coursing through him and Vorashu’s chakra surging through him he could see this through to the end, he just needed a few moments to really take in this form of hers and prepare himself for the carnage to come. He used her form as cover as she demolished several vessels instantly by smashing them with her massive arms of blood. Now the tables had turned, several of the ships broke off and attempted to retreat. It seemed that Maido had killed the shinobi who had utilized the teleportation technique to get them here. There would be no escape. ‘Do not relent welp! Bathe in the carnage, rip their limbs apart and revel in this grand massacre' Vorashu demanded furiously. Maido had certainly gained his favor, even more so than before. And oddly Shinji in this moment wasn’t terrified of her. They were working together, she was helping him, one of the strongest combinations of shinobi the hidden mist village had to offer. He would embrace this and use it to fuel him.

Dozens of men were lifted into the air, infused with Maido’s blood. They would explode in a firework of blood and gore and Shinji would fly through the raining blood and bits, some he would pluck right out of the air, slicing off limbs or eviscerating them entirely as he passed by them while they were held unable to move at all. Soaked in blood, Shinji would chase down the fleeing ships while Maido continued to dispose of the individuals, a dozen at a time from the handful of ships within her immediate range. Landing on the largest ship, one of the two that had managed to get any notable distance away from Maido, Shinji would transform back into a human, finding himself surrounded by at least 30 men with more underdeck. Grinning, the young assassin would finally get to use some of his natural skills, though the eerie sickly green aura of Vorashu’s chakra still coated him, his hair long and braided and his limbs lankier than usual, several inches longer, giving him a feral and unnatural appearance like that of a demon. And that would only continue as he grew a monkey tail and a pair of black bat wings, dashing through the crowd at remarkable speeds and drawing his dual katana’s in blindingly fast, practically instant motions as those around him began to fall in droves, many hitting the ground at the same time despite being 10 or more meters apart. Blood would splash across the decks, coating it in the sticky red substance and causing his opponents to slip as some attempted to attack him and others looked for escape. Those that had shown indication of performing hand seals had been the first to die and so the taijutsu users and relatively ordinary individuals that remained were of no contest to someone of his calibre.

Moving about as a blur of movement, Shinji would leave afterimages in his wake that would persist making it appear there were several blood-soaked, black winged figures hovering about the bloody and corpse lined deck, angels of death come to collect their souls. Limbs were strewn about, some cut clean off others pulled from their bodies with sheer brute force. At some point Shinji removed his gloves revealing his ashy, dark fingers, long and wicked looking that quickly grew 3-inch claws as sharp and deadly as a knife. Organs were ripped out of fleeing enemies, pulled from their bodies with his bare hands. At one point he cut off a man’s head and through it straight through the body of another, the carcass essentially exploding from the force of impact. He switched between stances, delivering deadly cuts, precision strikes and sometimes simply brute force, beating people to death with their own limbs and breaking backs over his knee before tossing them to the sharks.

By the time the deck was cleared Shinji was exhausted but his work was not yet done. Moving into the lower decks where the ordinary sailors continued to row, oblivious to the carnage above he would casually walk through the rooms and halls, slaughtering everyone in his path with a simple slash of his clawed hands to their throats. These individuals he would grant a swift, merciful death for they had not actively engaged in combat against him. Nonetheless, they would not live to tell the tale. Vorashu demanded absolute eradication and so too did Maido seem intent on slaughter and he saw no good reason to fall short of that expectation. After some time of tracking down every last person on the large ship, Shinji finally returned to the deck. Surely Maido would have been able to handle the smaller ship that had attempted to flee from her. All in all the fighting had persisted for at least an hour, the sun was setting now, casting a red-orange glow of sunset. Drenched in blood, slick across his face and soaked into his clothes Shinji dispelled his partial transformations and allowed the chakra cloak to fade as his body returned to its normal proportions. He leaned against the rails, watching as Maido finished off the last ship, exploding the corpses like confetti. “Such power. She really is remarkable” he panted, speaking lowly to himself. Vorashu was still on a high, overwhelmed by the vigor of such slaughter, ‘You’ve done well. Such carnage! It’s been many centuries since I’ve found so much enjoyment. The sharks feast on this mighty offering! Keep the blood witch close young one. I desire more days like this' The Genma demanded, elated at such a rare massacre. Shinji was again inclined to agree, he felt more powerful than ever before and it was all because of the confidence of having such a remarkable shinobi backing him up.

He would wait a few more minutes until she wrapped up her last few kills and then joined him on the large flag ship of the fleet, at least 30 meters long and 12 meters wide. It had taken him longer than anticipated to clear it but all in all he and Maido had each claimed over 200 lives, truly a battle of legends. The weight of what he had done slowly began to sink in as the bloodlust and all of his strength sapped out of him, slumping against the door to the captains corridors, the blood on him had begun to coagulate, getting crusty and hard making his body itchy and the horrible stench of death; blood, bile, and organs seemed to soak into his very skin. Everything was red: the sky, the water and every surface of the ship, debris was scattered about the ocean and dozens of corpses could be seen floating. Even the sharks had met their limits and could not devour all of them. Likely the feast would persist for days as others were drawn from many miles away. Shinjiro’s belly was full too, having eaten his fair share of people when in animal transformations. At one point even he had taken a bite of a heart while in his human form as a show of intimidation. He had really embraced being an embodiment of death; a Shinigami if you will. Maido was calm as usual, as if this was just another day for her. Shinji looked up at her, smiling with blood-stained teeth, “After that display…I’ll follow you anywhere” he assured. Maido had gained a powerful ally on this day, one that now trusted her completely. If she had wanted him dead she had ample opportunity but instead they had become a team, bonded through chaos and murder.

This was what Maido lived for. An agent of chaos, Maido was one with the mayhem. But the slaughtere was coming to an end. Whomever it was that had sold them out. Whatever pour soul that had crossed her and Shinjiro. They would pay. She would make certain of it. Once the two of them made it back to the village, she would track down whoever it was...and they would be dealt with. Her monstrous form began to recede. Her titantic beast-like form would condense. Smaller and smaller, the blood would fade away. It didn't drip into the water, it just disappeared. It was time for a bit of rest. Well. Not quite.

They still had to finish crossing the sea. Fortunately, she had not expended too much of her reserves. Quite frankly, she was actually just fine. Her big transformation was quite costly, but everything else that had taken place on her part had been rather mediocre. She guided herself towards the large ship which Shinjiro had cleared out. It would do. She gazed upon him and inhaled. He was tired. Very much so. She figured it a marvel that he was even standing, when suddenly he slouched. Yup. There it is.

Her inner personality manifested itself now, goading her. If ever there was a time to kill the host and unleash Vorashu, it was now. Her inner-demon said as much. But that wasn't going to be the case. Shinjiro had proven himself to be a very fine shinobi indeed. She would have to make some sort of documentation about the events that had transpired on this day. "You have done quite well...King of Beasts," If it wasn't a nickname he'd had before, it would be now. She needed to get them out of the open waters. "Rest for now, I will insure we get to the mainland. I have a contact there waiting for us." She began to move her hands about, sending out a wave of blood to reach towards the back of the ship. Her arms then moved forwards, and the whole of the ship and them on it began to turn around on the spot before rocketing off into her desired direction.

"When we get back to the mist...I am going to find out who betrayed the information about this voyage...And I would like to personally feed them to Vorashu. Make no mistake, young Shinjiro...we were set up." Those were the last words she spoke as she continued to will the ship towards the designated docks of the mainland. They met no other difficulties, save for Maido having a bit of trouble remembering exactly how precisely north-west she was to take them. When they arrived, their ship would of course draw quite a bit of attention. It was painted in blood. Littered with the corpses of pirates. Their guts, organs, bones, equipment. All of it, scattered about.

The coastal town of Morioka was host to a significant population of Iwagakure shinobi. Although in some ways it appeared unassuming on the surface, it was a hub of trade between Rock and Water Country. Textiles, agricultural goods, raw materials like iron and steel, and slaves all passed through the town, much of which was situated on hills overlooking the coast. The locals were no strangers to the goings on of shinobi and were used to accommodating them as they went about their official duties. The relationship between the city citizens and shinobi was, in general, stable and mutually beneficial. Kirigakure shinobi weren't quite "welcome," but with the recent strengthening of ties between the allied villages the locals were making the effort to be more accepting of those from the Mist. Change in attitude was slow going, as most change was in Rock Country, but it was noticeable at least.

The relationship between the locals and Iwagakure shinobi was quite different. Where Kiri shinobi were treated somewhat coldly and stiffly due to a general lack of respect and even xenophobia, Iwagakure shinobi were instead with deference at some times, and with fear in others. There was also often disdain, especially among citizens of the village who lacked in affluence and who lived on the borders of poverty. But in general the villagers kept their heads down and respected the natural hierarchy of Rock Country: the military sat on top.

When whispers spread throughout Morioka that an important, high ranking shinobi of Iwagakure was visiting, the air itself shifted. There was tension in the anticipation, and the villagers went about their day with the knowledge that somewhere in their midst walked power. The few who crossed him would know immediately. Initially they wouldn't believe it, that a child could possess such a dark aura. But it was certainly the abnormal looking boy with bright seafoam green eyes that were lined by dark green circular markings that gave off such a feeling of foreboding. It wasn't the men who traveled with him; they too were intimidating in some ways, but compared to the kid they looked and felt more normal.

The small group made their way through the village, largely going unseen until they were at the docks. They waited patiently for some time; their guests weren't due for another day or two, but they were ordered to keep an eye out, just in case. Finally, a vessel arrived at the docks, sending it into an uproar.

"Lord Akari. They are here."

The boy had been resting near the beaches, shaded by an old pavilion. He opened one eye and replied, "I know. I can smell the blood from here." Kotaru stood to stretch and then looked back at the small team. "Seven minutes." With that he disappeared, leaving a swirl of dust in his wake and he moved at incredible speed to the receiving dock. He was there within seconds, gazing up at the ruined, blood-stained mast.

She had arrived, and she had brought chaos with her.

[PB] The Voyage Begins

Post by Izanagi » Wed Nov 06, 2019 11:20 am

The young member of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist smiled softly as Maido complimented him. For such a fearsome warrior the teenager certainly thrived on compliments and recognition from his superiors. The smile transitioned into a smirk at the nickname. King of Beasts, he liked that. Vorashu was perhaps a little jealous as a name typically reserved for himself was placed on his host though it still placed emphasis on his powers more so than Shinji's swordsmanship. For that reason he wouldn't object.

It didn't take too long for Shinjiro to get his fine tuned breathing under control and he didn't feel any soreness from physical fatigue but nonetheless he was aware of his limits. He knew it would serve him well to rest. Sitting with one leg stretched out and the other propped up with his elbow resting on his knee he would coninue to lean against the door behind him. Still soaked in blood his eyes would take on a sinister glowering as he thought about seeking revenge on those who betrayed them. The dozens of bodies that littered the main deck had been killed fairly swiftly, though extremely violently. He would be sure to take his time on the rat that leaked information on their travels. It seemed that his previous reservations about Maido had been dispelled. The two had much in common, all it took was the massacre of hundreds of rogue ninja, pirates and sailors to cement that bond. A fine price to pay.

The ship would fall under the control of Maido, changing direction to circle around the continent and approach the coast of Rock Country directly. A long voyage normally though moving at the Speed of Maido's Kinesis they would arrive in about half a day. During this time Shinji would sleep soundly, if a little itchy by some dried and sticky blood. He would move into the captains quarters however to rest in a proper bed and away from the stench of death. Drinking some fresh water, washing his face off and cleaning his weapons before sleeping he would feel well rested by the time they arrived at their destination early into the morning.

Unless Maido rested periodically on the way surely even her massive reserves of chakra would be drained by the time they arrived. With the sun just peeking over the mountains it seemed promising of a good day. From what he understood Iwagakure was not far from this coastal town though of course they needed an escort to actually find and be granted entry into the hidden village. Donning all of his gear once more Shinji would put his hood up but leave the mask down for now. As the ship neared the docks the young assassin would scan the area, taking in everything of note, always wary of ambushes and picking up on potential threats. Landing on Kota he would recognize the Iwa Bannin from the last day of the Star Country tournament a few weeks ago. "Oh, figures it would be your boyfriend greeting us" Shinji teased playfully turning to look over his shoulder with a grin. Now that he wasn't on edge around Maido anymore it was likely she would see much more of the more casual aspects of his personality.

Not only that but just before embarking on this venture he had been promoted to Jounin as a reward for his victory in the Taijutsu tournament. Already he felt he had earned that rank, having at least tripled his kill count to date from last nights battle. Many of the deaths could not be verified as an exact number, having simply sunk a few ships in single strikes but it would be conservative to say that he and Maido has each claimed hundreds of lives. This last vessel alone was littered with 61 corpses, all from his hand in a more personal touch. Deaths by his blade were in a way much more satisfying than simply destroying a ship and leaving his victims to drown, be crushed or devoured by sharks.

[PB] The Voyage Begins

It had been quite the journey. Truth be told, she hadn't expected it to be easy. But...She hadn't expected it to go down as it had either. Maido was wearing out. Constantly moving the ship forwards at the rate that she had was extremely draining and though doing so for a short period of time wasn't too bad, she was admittedly pushing herself to the limit. Eventually, she did decide to take a break and gather her strength. She wondered how Hisayo was doing. She would be arriving to dock likely some time after Maido and Shinjiro did. An unforeseen circumstance had arisen. Such was life. Too bad, Maido thought to herself. Hisayo missed out on all of the fun. Oh well...

Having rested, Maido continued to propel the ship forwards. She was ready to get out of the open sea. Whatever it takes. If that meant pushing her chakra reserves to the limits, so be it. Fortunately, she did have a very large amount to work with. Even still, she was glad she decided to rest, for though she was certain she could have gotten them there without doing so, she was also certain she'd be borderline delirious and likely slip into a chakra-drained coma shortly afterwards. But it mattered not, for she did rest, and so they made it in pretty decent time still. It was early morning when they would finally see mainland.

She hadn't bothered to clean herself up at all. There had been no time. She allowed Shinjiro his own time to do what he needed to do while she went to work getting them to the dock. And they had finally arrived. The sun was just barely visible over the mountain range when they arrived. Maido wondered when Hisayo would arrive. She would likely need to come back to the docks to fetch her. Shame. Shinjiro happened to notice Kotaru before Maido did, for she was by now incredibly drained and not quite with it, so to speak. Her face showed just how tired she was. The trip had taken a toll on her, for sure. The battle? Not so much. Utilizing her kinesis to move a giant ship and turn a several days journey into a mere half of a day? Absolutely taxing. She was ready to collapse. Still, she persisted. There would be time to rest later.

When Shinjiro teased her, she didn't really react to it immediately. "Ah, yes, Kotaru should be meeting us here...Wait, boyfriend?" Was he her boyfriend? She didn't know. She wasn't necessarily opposed to the idea, to be fair, but it wasn't exactly something she had quite worked out with him yet. Her face lit up with a smile upon seeing him, but the signs of her exhausting showed quite clearly. "It would be nice to slip into something a little more comfortable...Perhaps a three day coma..." She chuckled lightly. They had arrived much earlier than anticipated, due solely to the sheer force of will and exhausting amount of effort that Maido had put into moving the ship. She had done well to get them there was fast as possible, she hadn't wanted another run in with any pirates or miscreants. "We'll have to come back here and fetch my girlfriend sometime in the next few days, I would imagine."

Normally the crew of a ship would begin disembarking and a ramp would be lowered, but of course this wasn't a normal situation. Kotaru stood at the dock, staring at the vessel and waiting. When it became clear that there wasn't any movement up above, the bannin sighed and leaped onto the ship's railing at the uppermost deck. What he saw was death and destruction, blood and intestines littering the deck along with bodies both severed and whole. The Akari took in the sight with his brow lifted slightly and then stepped onto the deck with a wet splat, essentially wading through the pools of blood.

"Girlfriend?" he repeated, having heard the very last bit of the Blood Witch's conversation with Shinjiro. He wore a sour expression as he approached, arms crossed over his chest. "You've never mentioned a girlfriend." He felt an uncomfortable tightness in his throat for a moment as he . It was a sensation that he didn't recognize, and he continued to scowl. Kotaru tore his attention away from the witch in order to acknowledge Shinjiro with a nod. "Shinjiro, right? I remember you from Star." The boy bannin didn't know Shinjiro very well, so the acknowledgement was somewhat awkward and forced. He wasn't very social by nature, so meeting new people always caused a bit of internal strain for him.

"You look fucking awful," he directed to Maido as he slowly turned to her. His expression and tone were still abrasive, but his gaze had become a touch softer after seeing how exhausted she was. "Do you want to tell me what happened now, or on the way to the village?"

[PB] The Voyage Begins

Post by Izanagi » Fri Nov 08, 2019 11:15 pm

Shinji watched the ancient blood user carefully for a reaction. He could discern she was exhausted of course, and it felt reassuring to know that even she had her limits. Still, he was having a hard time seeing her as anything other than a terrifying blood monster intent on slaughtering others. He owed it to her to at least try though, he had accepted the fact that she could likely kill him whenever she wanted and so there was no reason to fear her anymore. If she had wanted to, she would have and if she changed her mind he probably couldn’t stop her so there was no sense wasting time worrying about it. If it weren’t for the interaction, he had witnessed back in Star Country he might have thought that there was no humanity left in her, that she Vorashu wished only to see humanity suffer and die out. Yet she seemed to care about Kotaru, meaning she could likely care about others as well. That was enough for him to have faith in his choice to swear loyalty to her.

Observing her reaction to seeing Kotaru he felt he could relate with her a little. He too had recently found a woman, well two in fact that he discovered he cared about and desired. Nothing had progressed beyond kissing each of them but still, such connections were a refreshing feeling for one who had spent most of his life devoid of affection or intimacy. He smirked at her joke, even chuckling nearly inaudibly himself, “I’m sure you’ll get your chance. I don’t see any reason not to stay awhile” he suggested, shrugging. The pair of them would be the first Kirigakure shinobi to enter Iwagakure, at least as far as he was aware. Such a thing was not an event to take lightly and he found himself eagerly anticipating getting to test himself against their shinobi and discover more about the way their people lived and trained. Already the air felt much colder and drier than back home and that was while they were still near the Ocean. He gave the woman a confused and somewhat intrigued look as she mentioned a girlfriend that would be joining them in a few days. That was the first he had heard of that arrangement; he was suddenly curious who this person could be.

His attention quickly shifted to Kotaru as he leaped onto the deck of the ship, he was fast and capable he could tell that much. His competitive blood pulsed within him. He was one of the ones he was looking forward to learning more about. He and that brother of his Tatsuo. Even now he couldn’t be certain if he would be able to kill the young Bannin who appeared to be roughly the same age as himself, though about half a foot shorter. Such people were the ones that excited Shinji the most. He would nod slowly, staring intently and still sizing the Akari up. “And you’re Kotaru” he acknowledged, remembering the young man’s name vividly even if Maido hadn’t just mentioned it again. “Like what I’ve done with the place? I’m sure the seagulls will appreciate it at least” he asked casually, gesturing with a simple turn of his hand before grinning wolfishly as he looked over the carnage. That had been a good night indeed. He needn’t that. Typically, he kept himself under control remarkably well but every now and then he liked to really let loose and rampage.

Walking closer to the other two until they were standing in a tight circle of sorts, Shinji would assess Maido’s condition with a stoic gaze. “I can carry you if you’d like. I feel quite well rested now. Least I can do after the haste you made in getting us here.” He offered, it seemed like a fair exchange to him. Though it occurred to him he didn’t know how long it would take to get to the hidden village from here. Looking to Kotaru he would maintain a neutral tone and body language now, “What’s the best way to get to the village from here? I can fly us most of the way if that’s a viable option” he proposed, deferring to the local’s judgment. When speaking of professional matters, he typically tried to remain procedural and respectful. Even if it was something as simple as travel arrangements.

A chance to rest? Yes. That would probably be for the best, she thought to herself. She looked at Shinjiro for a moment. Hmm. Pretty good for a Special Jounin. I think I'll keep him. A worthy warrior. Who knows, he might even become a friend. There was an interesting thought. She looked about the ship. It was carnage incarnate, much like herself. Unphased by the macabre remnants of battle, Maido yawned. The journey was definitely taking more of a toll than she had thought. "Yes...some resting would likely do us some good, I fully intended to stay here for quite some time."

Kotaru joined the both of them, aboard the ship deck. Amongst the ruins of batttle, he looked not so out of place, save for his eyes. Their seafoam green contrast greatly with the dried blood. What an odd color combination, Maido mused. Watching Shinjiro and Kotaru greet each other was both awkward and hilarious to her. It was almost like neither of them really knew what to say to the other. "Would you two relax, you're really killing my boner." She teased. Although, she did find some amusement in Shinjiro's seagulls comment. Shinjiro offered to carry her, which she admittedly appreciated a great deal, but she scanned Kotaru for a reaction. Not for his approval, for she didn't care for it and most certainly didn't operate herself in such a manner but rather for..his reaction, period. Jealousy? Irritation? He was cute when he was mad. It was like he...didn't really understand why he was mad. To her, that just made it all the more amusing. "But, do relax, Kota~ She's not really a girlfriend...more like an....entourage? You might like her too, actually..."

A light chuckle escaped her lips. "Hmm. Well, I should take you up on that, perhaps." she said to Shinjiro but as she spoke, she swayed a bit. Looking towards him, she winked before stumbling and bumbling towards Kotaru. Had it been an accident? Maybe. Her arm grabbed around his neck and shoulder and she pulled herself upwards a bit. She remembered suddenly that she was a few inches taller than him. Hmmm. "You're pretty cute, If I've never told you...Oh, but, yeah, we can talk about it on the way..." Whilst Shinjiro and Kotaru worked out the details of travel from there, she would close her eyes for a bit, and was almost immediately out.

The bannin slowly blinked when Maido mentioned her 'boner.' Had they not had company he could have taken care of that for her right then and there. But unfortunately he had business to attend to, so her commented was met with no response. Instead he made another comment to Shinjiro, "The seagulls might appreciate it, but the locals certainly won't." The corpses were already foul, and they would put up a great stench by the end of the day. Knowing the people of the area, the scene would be quickly blamed on the Kirigakure shinobi and it would make things tense within the village for the next few days, until everything could be cleaned up. But that would be a problem for the Iwa shinobi who were stationed there, not for him.

Kotaru gave a small hmph at Maido's claim that he might like her...entourage. He highly doubted that, since he didn't like very many people or things. Something he definitely did not care for was the way this Shinjiro kid offered to carry Maido. And he certainly didn't like the fact that she accepted the offer. "No, I'll-" He had no time to properly protest, because in that moment she went stumbling into his arms. That was definitely on purpose. He couldn't help but think so as he looked down at her with his brow raised, but even as he stared at her, his gaze softened. She was definitely exhausted, so perhaps she deserved a pass. This time.

"Oh yeah, you're out of it," he responded with a chuckle. Her outright compliment lightened his mood, and when her eyes finally closed he turned back to Shinjiro. He immediately soured again. Kotaru gave the Kiri shinobi a long look of consideration. There was nothing combative about him, nothing that would suggest insubordination or that the Kiri nin would undermine Kotaru's authority. Good. "If she trusts you enough to consider your offer to carry her, then I'll respect that. We can fly part of the way there, but not until we're at least 15 kilometers southeast of here." The Akari lifted Maido towards Shinjiro to give the special jounin the opportunity to take her before he walked toward the side of the ship.

At that moment his four travel companions appeared before him, crouching in the thick pools of blood with their heads lowered. Kotaru gave them their orders: notify the local Iwagakure shinobi that were stationed there to begin cleaning up the mess, and then scout the road ahead of them for any trouble. He ended the demands by ordering, "Be quick about it. We leave immediately," and each of his subordinates vanished to complete their duties.

They had a long and difficult road ahead of them. Even at that moment Kotaru was reluctant to lead outsiders to Iwagakure, and he would not lead them to the village using the easiest, most straightforward path available to them. There was no need to tell them that though. "It'll take two days to get there, so let's get on with it." With that, Kotaru stepped off the edge of the ship and landed quietly below, then led them through the village so that they could begin their journey to Iwagakure.

[PB] The Voyage Begins

The young assassin found himself rather confused and caught off guard by Maido’s comment. He never knew quite what to expect with her, surely it was simply a joke but nonetheless it was a kind of humor he was not accustomed to. He didn’t react much though, a slight turn of the head and narrowing of the eyes though Kotaru’s comment presented a distraction. It was a thought he had never considered, common villagers were extremely low on his list of concerns and priorities though he knew it was important to make a good impression on Iwagakure shinobi and upon further consideration it seemed possible there would be some kind of backlash because of it. Still, even in Kirigakure itself the lowest class of denizens were largely ignored and seen as fodder, scum that were less valuable than slaves even. These villagers however seemed useful at least in maintaining a main port for trade and naval activities. He shrugged his shoulders innocently, “Figured we’d just sink it, give the sharks more to feast on but I suppose the ship is valuable, only one of the fleet worth keeping, not that we left any of the others intact.” he realized. He had saved the Brigandine for last, seeing it the worthiest of utilizing. It had clearly been undermanned, having a max capacity of a little over a hundred men though retained significant speed and maneuverability like the other smaller ships, Sloops and Schooners mostly that had accompanied it. The Karagata family provided Kirigakure’s navy and handled the majority of trade after all so it was only natural Shinjiro was quite familiar with a variety of ships, spending a good deal of time at Sea.

Shinji would nod simply as Kotaru handed over Maido and explained the travel plans. The Jinchuuriki would cradle Maido, his left arm under her back and his right in the crook of her legs, clasping his hands together in front of him. Carrying her in such a way would be essentially effortless for him and he was confident he could do so for hours with no issues. Most people he would have simply tossed over his shoulder though Maido had earned more respect and care than that and not simply because she outranked him. He was growing fond of her. Kotaru certainly seemed to have his own air of authority, at least Jounin and regardless he was their guide to Iwagakure so naturally Shinji would defer to him. He furrowed his brow when Kotaru mentioned it would take two days to get to Iwagakure. Rock Country was quite large so it shouldn’t have come as that much of a surprise but still he was confident that if they were to travel at his pace they would be 15kms from the village in a matter of minutes and from there he could transform into a giant bird capable of flying at 50 Speed. If it was him alone and he knew where to look surely he would arrive in hours at most. Alas however it wouldn’t be advisable to travel at such speeds carrying others and it was also important to keep sight of landmarks which could make the journey much slower. Sighing slightly Shinji leaped over the edge of the rail. He would carry Maido most of the way if not all of it, she deserved the rest. Though he would pick up on the unnecessary detours he wouldn’t make any mention of it and eventually they would find themselves within the elusive village hidden in the stones.
