Lets Try This Again

Post by Ace Trainer » Sun Jul 07, 2019 3:49 am

Shio stood on the shore of the island with his hands hanging limp at his side. His eyes were fixated on the horizon resting over the mountains before him. Scouts had been sent ahead and had detailed where most of the largely groups of people were, but for the most part this small island had an even distribution of people throughout it's land. It would take Shio a fair amount of time to get through each area, doing whatever he needed to do to them. He had been given the freedom of choice, the village didn't seem to have a particular preference on what to do with these people. The land belongs to Kirigakure now, the 3 large ships holding minor shinobi, construction workers, and various amounts of equipment needed to build a small outpost and docks made that clear. But it was up to Shio to either get the people on the island on board with their new citizenship, or get rid of them. Not necessarily in that order.

The boy, only 10, had a great deal of responsibility on his shoulders. This was also a unique opportunity for him to test his limits. No shinobi would be with him, he had made sure of that. Despite being only a chuunin, this had been ordained as 'his' mission, much to the chagrin of the various higher ranking shinobi who were overseeing it's events. Shio had made it clear though, if other villages caught wind of these events -- not that there was any reason for them too -- he needed the bulk of the forces together and in one place to act. He'd be more than capable of managing himself. But, regardless, out on the island, he'd be among the native people and no others, just the boy and the universe, and their subjects. This brought an additional layer of approach he needed to balance with this mission. If this was a test of his abilities, it made far more sense for him to take a more aggressive approach. Which abilities was this testing though? Surely if he was meant to lead his people he should test his ability to bring followers to his way, yes?

The tenants of strength taught by Kirigakure were ambiguous to a more....selective individual. Strength was not a single concept determined by muscle mass and body counts, but instead by the ability to master fields and assert yourself within your own domain. There is strength in compassion just as there is in aggression, something Shio had been taught all his life. As a leader, he would need both, surely. But in this moment, perhaps from his immaturity, perhaps a childish desire for fun, who knows what. He couldn't help but feeling and itch to test his limits. Most likely because he was always having to restrain himself and Shio was very rapidly becoming aware that such restraint wasn't entirely fun.

Finally, he began to step off.

He dug his feet into the dirt and a slow walking pace quickly transformed itself into a blur as the boy accelerated at his full speed. He had no one to wait for, and the blinding pace was something few shinobi were able to keep up with as it were. He'd be at the first stop in minutes. Less than 100 people lived in this area, several farming families that intermingled and settled happily together. Sharing the fruits of their individual labors for a delightful serenity that would last lifetimes, and it was Shio's job to disturb that. Or potentially just leave things as they were and let them have their peace. There was some rough understanding of the comings and goings of the region and it had not entirely escaped Shio's considerations to play some political experimentation. Not something he should be doing though, he knew that. It didn't escape his considerations, but he knew better.

It was no time before he stood on a hill, overlooking an expanse that was really nothing but various types of fields, and periodic houses, small buildings that would house only a few and nothing more. No more than 100 people in this area.

He jumped off the cliff he was overlooking, landing on the ground with a heavy thud that didn't match his weight by any means, the deep impressions in the dirt betraying the raw power held in his body. He smiled, his left hand cupping his right as his thumb pressed against each finger. Switching hands and repeating the process, Shio did something he suddenly felt very confident in. His people had taught him so many things, but most of all the power of the voice.

With a smirk, he stepped forward slowly.

Shio had been raised a prodigy. A boy with the world at his hands, free to do whatever he wanted. This testimony he'd been given every day of his life didn't seem to match the reality he lived in, however, as he always had people telling him what to do. First his parents, the various people within his compound, his religious teachers, his school teachers, village officials. So many mechinations and movements that he had little control over but were so central to him. It felt very strange. So now, for the first time in his life, when he was able to act on his own accord, he felt a sudden surge of both confidence and deviousness. He had full freedom here. And as his body launched forward towards the small village before him, he quickly found himself standing on top of a house in the center of the small arena.

"COME"

His voice bellowed. Like thunder through the skies. People rushed from their homes looking for the source. These were not a people familiar with the world, with shinobi, or anything like that, and were instantly awed, confused, and unsure. Had that voice come from this little boy? His baggy shirt and loose fit pants hardly gave way to the idea of some sort of super human.

He looked over them all, arms crossed. Suddenly Shio felt very powerful.

He could kill them all. He could. The kunai that sat in his weaponry pouch was more than enough to clear out this group. It would take little to no time for him to work through these people. Seventy Five? A hundred? They would be defenseless. He'd clear half the group before they even realized what was happening. He took a step forward, putting his foot on the edge of the house and looking closer. He was maybe only 10 feet up but it felt as if he was looking down on insects.

No wonder power so often corrupted, as he had been taught. This feeling was...intense.

He weaved a set of hand seals, murmuring erupted from the crowd. Someone asked who's child he was, others concerned he was deranged, others quickly losing interest.

The hand seals stopped, and Shio smirked.

Messiah
S-rank Status Genjutsu
Prerequisite: 50 Genjutsu, 50 Control, 35 Stamina, 35 Instinct, the user must remain speaking for the duration of the genjutsu.
A genjutsu designed to be performed on large groups, after forming the proper hand seals, the user will speak. They can speak on any topic, and anyone who hears their voice while this genjutsu is active will be captured in it. This technique lasts for 10 posts, but will end prematurely if the user stops speaking at any point. Because the initiator is rolling with their voice, the impact of the technique is based on the length they’ve been within it, not the length in which it’s been active.
1st post: The afflicted will feel an overwhelmingly desperate urge to find the source of the voice and keep their eyes on the source.
2nd Post: Once they have seen the user, the afflicted will feel a sudden feeling of both reverence and fear that gets increasingly powerful over the course of the technique. Those without strong wills will feel as if they need to surrender, hopelessness sinking into their gut,
3rd Post: The afflicted will feel weakness through their body, increasing as any distance between themselves and the user is reduced, making resistance and the even movement incredibly mentally taxing.
4th Post: Anyone within the genjutsu this long will feel their willpower draining from them, most often completely paralyzed by the overwhelming authority of the user.
5th Post; Most anyone will have felt all power drained from their body, falling to their knees in reverence, fear, and obedience.
For all posts following this feeling is only increased and compounded.
The user cannot act in a way that would bring harm to any of the victims of this technique or the technique will end.
"The world is larger than you'll ever realize. Great beasts roam these lands in shadows, in realms untouched by man, spirits and demons. Ghosts and devils. All wander just out of reach, looking for your bodies as conduits to our world. There exists men who lift mountains, spit fire and split oceans. And here you sit, ignorant to it all."

As his voice rolled through the town, heavier than ash, boomed through their "streets" but still managing to whisper in their ears, Shio watched as they all fixated on him. Panic, confusion, something in between. People who hadn't heard him before wandered from their homes in a hurried haze, people came from out in the fields, running and tripping over themselves. Shio looked out at the crowd that had formed.

These were his people now.

"This world is nothing like you know. I am a conquerer. This world is MINE.", his voice thundered through the skies again, "And you are my people. Small. Fragile. I am sent here to protect you all from the great evils this world hides in the shadows.", he spread his arms out wide. This was Shio's purpose. He felt so assured in it suddenly. So much authority dripped from his lips as he spoke and watched these people slowly and independently fall to their knees as the genjutsu settled into them. "What have you in your lives but farms, watching clouds and simple problems. You ask for rain? I bring you storms.", his throat rumbled after this reverberating through the air above him, the deep tones breaking up ice in the atmosphere, vibrating with his voice causing them to turn to clouds. Shio had tested this a few times, he knew he could bring rain, he just hadn't quite gotten the skill down yet. "I ask not for your money, nor your homes, I demand your FAITH.", he voiced raised in tonality again, shaking through the homes. Anyone not at their knees suddenly dropped.

Shio jumped down from atop the building, now standing directly in front of them. A mere child, they all knew it, but none would question... "Whether you asked for him or not. Your Messiah is here.", Shio's ego had been tempered his entire life. In this moment, it was being allowed to be let loose.

"what you feel in your stomachs, in your throat, is not fear. I promise. It is reverence! It is the universe calling you now and telling you that your faith will be paid in spades and your piety in safety.", he touched the first person before him on the head, a gesture he'd seen from his priests so many times. She fell to the floor, tears streaming from her face. Shio couldn't discern if it was fear or passion. Maybe both.

"Monsters lurk in this world. Men who want to bring you pain and suffering. That will burn your villages to the ground. But you are safe now. You will always be safe so long as my voice carries the winds.", he continued to talk. In the back of his mind, he wondered about this. These people were simple, and while the genjutsu was having a great effect on them, he couldn't help but consider that part of it was that they would likely believe everything he said regardless. He voice carried with depth across their farms with ease, and they had witnessed him leap through the air, summon clouds with his voice. Sure, Shio was strong. Likely the strongest they've ever seen. So when the genjutsu ended, would he be able to keep them faithful? Time would tell, surely.

He dug his foot into the ground, making a shape as he spoke.

"You are safe under my guise. My voice will speak to you all. Through your dreams, through your deeper mind. I will be present.", he leapt backwards, back onto the roof top. "This symbol marks my people. Those under my protection. Adorn yourselves with it. Adorn your homes with it. And you will be safe."

He stopped talking. The genjutsu ending. The people, remaining on the floor. As the feeling would leave their bodies, Shio watched faithfully. Hopeful they'd remain reverent of his presence.

"Eyes on me.", he demands. They all took their eyes from the ground, locking them onto the small boy.

"Fortune favors faith.", he said, his voice cooing to them all, soft and gentle, just in their ears.

He descendant back through the crowd, walking. People reached for his feet as he walked, tugging on his clothes as he moved through the crowd. These were his people now.

He smiled, one village down

The people watched him go, all with a forlorn look in their eyes. Some remained completely prostrate on the ground, others knelt and touched their foreheads to the dirt, and still more simply watched him go. His departure with the fading of the jutsu's effect came to a perfect set of timing. It left the people feeling as if something was being pulled from them, an emptiness left in its place, as they watched him go. In other circumstances it might have left them unbelieving in his wake, but in this case it left them all the more convinced that this was real. Some would begin to cry out for him to stay. A few even cried out for his divine help. The further away he walked, the more stepped away from where they had been and rushed home to mark their doors with the symbol he had presented to them.

As he departed the village proper itself and came to the road that would carry him to the next town he would find one last soul standing there. She watched him approach, a young woman maybe eighteen with dark hair and empty eyes she dropped to her knees as he approached. "May I serve?" she asked quietly, shoulders shaking as she found herself fearing what would happen as he left. "I could come with, see to any needs you might have, do anything you ask of me..." Her eyes were on the ground as she knelt, her outfit nearly rags as it was clear she hadn't had a proper home for some time. Scars adorned her arms from years of abuse, some self afflicted and others not. "Please... give my life purpose..." she whispered.

Shio looked around, remembering how he approached the village and trying to visualize the map in his head of the island to figure out the best route to the next village when he heard someone approaching from behind. Turning to face her, he frowned. She was older than him, sweet, and clearly already prepared to devote herself to him. How fragile these people were, truly. So badly looking for purpose that she'd abandon everything she knew in order to follow him ? He nodded, his voice soft and carrying with the wind into her ears, "Come, was all he would say, turning to continue to walk.

She would slow him down, so he'd likely have to leave her in the next village, but for now she'd be an interesting companion to have at his side as he wandered. His experiment in the first village had been a success, to his relief, so he began to think about what he would do next. The first thought that came to mind would be to slaughter everyone. Send her as a witness to his strength to one village, while he went to another. That way when he arrived at her location they'd be prepped for him and submit quickly. He was on a mission for Kirigakure after all, he'd need to conquer the country, first and foremost, that came before his own experiments with his power.

What would this girl have to offer beyond company?

Fragile minds are often the most impressionable, and Shio had no way of knowing this but the girl's mind was certainly among the worst. He had no way of knowing how much she had lost as of late, leaving her with absolutely no family, and nothing to her name. The girl had felt like an empty shell for sometime, and as Shio bade her to follow him, she felt as if that emptiness was dissipating one moment at a time. Her lips broke into a genuine smile, tears of happiness twinkling in her eyes as she nodded and thanked him, quickly taking up a pace to his right and slightly behind him. Her hands she kept in front of him as they walked, and at first she remained silent. A meekness overcame her, and her eyes remained mostly on the road, only periodically stealing glanced as the boy as they walked in silence.

The next town was not so far away, another small community. Whereas the last had had a central market, this one was clearly more spread out. It was a farming community that likely supplied parts of the market at the last and as they drew within site of it the woman finally spoke. "If you are unfamiliar, My Lord, I can tell you of this place...?" she asked quietly, waiting for him to bid her to continue. If he did, even something as minor as a look or a hand motion, she would keep speaking. "This place is called Muda. There is little here but farmers. They are spread out for miles around this place, and supply the market you just saw. Many are probably working their fields now, but at night they may come in to the city center. There is an inn there, very small but they keep a good business as the farmers drink there in the evenings."

She looked at Shio a moment as if breath hitched in her throat. "I... anything you ask of me I will do, My Lord."

Shio listened to the girl, processing what she spoke of while he thought about his own plans. This seemed like a good village to work through violently. He had his witness, too. Everything would be congregated in one place in the evenings. He could speak with them and see if they would be open to his powers. The evening would come quickly, it was already in the afternoon and the sun was before them so the night would fall soon. He nodded, "Show me the inn. And please, just Shio.", he didn't like My Lord. The formalities were frustrating, to be honest. A strange dichotomy with his newfound love for letting his power really show, it was annoying because he had dealt with them his entire life. The Voice, the Vessel, the Truth, so many names had been use for him, but he had a name, Shio. It was simple enough.

He glanced over at the girl, looking at her before turning his eyes back on the road, trying to think of the map again, he pulled out his pen, writing in the air, the writing following them as the walked. He traced out the borders of the country, then began marking the villages he could remember where they were. He was definitely missing 3 villages, there were only so many in the country. Marking them, he held the pen out, "What am I missing?", he asked her. "Specifically, what are the two closest villages closest to this Muda?, this would be a good opportunity for her to be useful.

"Shio then." The girl replied, blushing slightly as she seemed suddenly worried she may have offended him. "I'm... I'm Akemi." she finally said, silently debating if she was even worthy enough to give him her name, for him to use her name. In truth, she didn't expect him to, but she continued on, leading him towards the center of the small village and towards the inn. As they walked along, she noticed as he began to write in front of him and she couldn't help but to watch, enthralled by what he was doing. She was so taken in by it that when he asked her his questions, it took a solid minute for them to register.

"Oh... uh..." she took a better look at the map before them and thought it over a moment. "Uh... Desa... Resu... aaaand... Chiyo." she said, pointing out each location as she spoke the names. "They're barely more than small communities though, there's a lot of that around here. Anyone giving you information probably forgot about them or thought they weren't important enough to mention... they really are only important if one wants to be thorough. Most people are not." Akemi continued leading the way along and motioned up ahead before long. "The Inn." she said, pointing it out with a wrinkling up of her nose.

Of course the wrinkling of her nose showed her distaste for the name. It was called the Red Cock Inn.

Akemi, he thought the name, it was a sweet name, simple. Shio's small frame still shadowed by this girls, he nodded understandingly as she spoke, his mind elsewhere but still trying to focus on her. Still young, Shio still felt a world of responsibility on his shoulders. Having a follower like this was nice though, he'd be interested to see how she responded to what Shio was preparing to do. Akemi pointed out the inn and Shio frowned, the name was...distasteful as best. Certainly not the best place to bring a young woman....or a child. He couldn't help but think the type of people within, or that would allow an inn like that in their village would be the ideal candidates to slaughter.

"Akemi", Shio said turning to her. His voice went up an octave, not enough to be immediately noticeable, but enough to feign innocence. "Stay close.", he suggested to her. He wasn't sure what to expect in this place, but he'd protect this woman. She'd put her trust in him after all, and while ultimately he would be manipulating her to some degree (as many gods did with their followers) he still wished her safety. Loyalty should be rewarded right?

It would certainly be strange for a child barely 10 to be protecting a grown woman but, hey, thats what responsibility godhood bestows upon you.

It would help that in radiating his chakra, Akemi was likely feeling a minor degree of euphoria and felt much better in close proximity to Shio.

"Always, My L- uh - Shio." Akemi said in response to Shio's simple order. Clearly she was still so enthralled that using his name did not feel right, and yet not using it would constitute a disobedience she could not stomach at this time. She stayed close as he requested, feeling herself awash with a subtle contentment at being near the person who was quickly becoming akin to deity in her mind. She blushed naturally as they entered the inn with its lewd name.

As they came through the door it became all the more apparent that this was a fairly small operation, but popular with the locals. It smelled mostly of stale sake, with a hint of unpleasantness underneath, and the main floor of the inn was mostly a large open area. There were tables scattered about, and open floor in the middle, but to the right against the wall was a small stage that currently stood empty as there was no entertainment for the night. The rooms were up a set of stairs at the back of the room, and the place was already fairly crowded.

As Shio would enter, at first few took notice of the pair, but as they came further into the room more would notice the boy who didn't seem to belong and his infatuated friend. Some seemed to laugh at the look of both, but an odd silence slowly took over. It was as if Shio's presence left a strangeness lingering in the air that left those in the room wondering if something was about to happen.

Eyes turned to the pair, some turned away after a glance while others lingered. Shio took several steps into the inn, his eyes jumping from person to person as he did so. Taking into account where every person was, what they were doing, how big they were, if they had any weapons on them. None of the adult men in this room were battlehardened, some had likely be in fist fights or a minor skirmish, but none would pose even a remote threat to Shio.

"Thirsty?", he asked her, grabbing a pitcher off of a table and pouring a glass, and handing it to Akemi.

"Oi.", his voice went up, loud, louder then what made sense but not loud enough to shake the room, "How many people live here?" In this town?", he asked. Based on the size he wouldn't guess more than 100, probably slightly less than that. The adult men in the room were likely the bulk of the adult men in the town, women and children at home, schooling or tending to the houses or whatever it was that peasant people did. He placed the pitcher back down, crossing his arms as more attention turned to him.

He wasn't channeling chakra yet. No, this little town probably wasn't worth the expense. He could slaughter these people without a single jutsu if he really wanted to, he guessed. "well?", he demanded to know. Despite a being just a boy, Shio guessed his tone wouldn't be appreciated in this...establishment. But, these people would learn to submit to their new God one way or another.

"Th-thank you, my L-uh-Shio." Akemi stammered as he handed her a glass. She took it and held it between both her hands as if shocked that she held it. In truth the idea of someone like Shio, who suddenly held so much value to her, served her a glass of whatever was in the pitcher, was shocking to say the least. Some part of her was almost horrified that she hadn't been the one to pour a glass for him first. For a flicker of a second she wondered if he would be angry with her, but the thought was flit away quickly as she felt she could plainly see that if he had wanted a glass, he would have demanded of her. Naturally she would have complied. Still she stood there with the glass in hand and stared at it in wonder, looking up from it briefly as Shio spoke to the others and she finally took a sip.

Juice of some kind it seemed, sweet with a bitter back that made her wrinkle up her nose.

The people were, the majority of them at this point, fixed on Shio as he spoke. The volume of his voice seemed strange and so far brought a curiosity out of these people. A stable boy was mixed in with the crowd and the voice seemed to pique his curiosity the most. He stepped out from behind a serving girl only ten steps away and looked at Shio. The pair could almost be the same age. "A couple dozen families." he said almost idly, tilting his head to the side. "We're just farmers, we-."

The boy was quickly interrupted by what sounded like a shouted grunt. A man stepped out of the same group of people and had suddenly snatched him up by his collar. "What is wrong with you? Can't you see he's a stranger? Who said his questions needed answering huh? Because he's loud?" The man laughed and tossed the boy to the ground with a drunk, making it all the more clear that he was almost completely inebriated. He grinned towards Shio and shook his head. "Where's your mother, kid? Shouldn't you let your sister there talk for you at your age?" He laughed as if he had made some great joke, having no idea the danger he could be in in those moments.

Behind Shio, Akemi looked terrified, frozen, but terrified.

Shio began running the numbers in his head, a couple dozen families. If he assumed 2 children and two parents per that would be...about 96 people give or take a few? Exactly what he expected, good. The boy was interrupted though, it seemed maybe he had an intuition that Shio was not a friendly because the notion of "just being farmers" simply to imply a disinterest in causing trouble. Unfortunately for the boy, he was interrupted by a drunkard. Shio extended an arm, crossing against Akemi's stomach and pressing against her ever so slightly to force her to take a couple steps back as the drunken man made some smart ass joke.

Shio's eyes thinned, counting the number of people in the room. Not too many. Shio only kept two kunai with him, one strapped on each leg. One would be enough, so he'd use the other to make a show. Faster than any of these men could react, likely faster than they had ever seen a person move, Shio had unstrapped the kunai on his leg, and launched his body forward. His knee slammed into the large man's chest. Not with all of Shio's strength, but with enough strength to make him stumble back.

The kunai he had grabbed had been raised in the air, and slammed down into the man's clavicle. The blade forced down it's full length until nothing but the ring at the end was left visible. The man would start to gargle, blood pouring from his mouth it was clear the blade had tore open his esophagus. Shio's small body bounced backwards, creating a few feet between them as the man's body stumbled backwards before falling to the ground, gurgling emitting from his throat still.

Shio's eyes turned to the boy that had been thrown to the ground, "You stay right there.", he whispered. His eyes then lifted, scanning the room that had likely gone in seconds from slightly tense to....something else. Without looking directly at her, Shio remained cautiously aware of Akemi, careful to not let any danger befall her.

Akemi didn't say a word, only gave Shio a concerned look as he made clear what she was to do in this situation. She dared to reach out, her fingers barely and briefly touching his shoulder before she took steps back and gave him the space she knew he was asking for. She watched in silence, and mild horror, as he took down the man so much larger than he. The man clearly had not expected this turn of events, and had never been trained in a way to be able to defend himself from it. Before long he was a mess of blood and death rattle upon the floor.

Everyone in the room took a step back, but not just from Shio.

It quickly became clear the boy who had been thrown to the ground was without family in the room. The crowd even took steps back from him as Shio gave him a command to stay, and they reacted as if the boy was somehow suddenly diseased by this action. The boy swallowed hard, looking at Shio in fear before glancing around and seeing that he was alone. If Shio wished to kill him too, it would be without interference.

Two more men, clearly friends of the first, drew simple axes from their belts and charged at Shio in a drunken rage.

Another grabbed the boy from before rather roughly and suddenly, pulling him back to his feet and pressing a blade to his throat. "How dare you tell him anything! Can't you see he's a monster?! Look at what he's doing!" she yelled.

Shio didn't hesitate. These men were normal people, nothing special in the world of shinobi. He could move in a way they didn't think possible. Two men rushed him, but another had grabbed the boy that Shio had given explicit instruction to stay put. To the men rushing him, it would seem as if Shio vanished, as he immediately rocked himself to full speed, shooting across the room to the man that had just picked up the boy and grabbing him by the throat. Shio's tiny hand could barely reach around the man, but it was more than enough strength to grab him away from the boy and thrust his body into the ground. The floor would crack under the weight of the man being tossed down with all of Shio's strength, the floorboards splintering upwards and into the man's body.

He'd quickly return, moving across the room in a instant back to the two men with axes. His foot would slam into the shin of the first man, a crack heard as his leg would break in two. Shio would then grab the back of his head, forcing it downwards into the axe the man was weilding, splitting his skull in two with a single motion. Quick to following he'd toss the body at the other man, jumping after it and snatching the axe out of the hand - and skull - of the first man and swinging it down on the second's shoulder. It severed the shoulder with ease. He'd then come across the body, clearing the man's stomach before he'd even realize his arm was gone.

Shio's eyes moved back to the boy, "I told you to stay put.", he said.

He tossed the axe across the room, impaling the chest of a man behind the bar. He turned his attention to Akemi for only a split second to make sure she was okay before jumping up and grabbing a lamp hanging from the roof. Pulling it with all his strength, the floor above him would collapse, pulling the people in the 2nd story down with them.

It was time to slaughter a town.

The boy watched everything that transpired in some form of shock and horror. Even after those who had assailed him had been decimated, their blood strewn across the floor, he was frozen in place. He only moved as Shio made his remark to him and the boy looked up at him. He was shaking, kneeling on the ground as his eyes finally traveled across the room and landed on Akemi. The girl made a single motion to the boy, for him to come to her but the boy shook his head fervently. Clearly he had no desire to disobey Shio again, and Akemi kept her eyes on Shio even as he checked on her briefly.

In spite of the blood and horror the girl didn't flinch, but watched as things transpired. As the second floor was pulled down and screams echoed off the walls the strange girl simply began to smile. "The unworthy are cleansed in a storm of blood and fury of our Lord Shio." she said quietly, that smile plastered on her face.

The so far unnamed boy screamed as the second floor came down, but he dared not move. His eyes were glued to Shio as he waited to see what would come now.

The collapse of much of the inn, the screams, seemed to rouse the town. Though there weren't that many buildings outside of this one, lanterns were lit and the man of several households came out to see what the commotion was, some rushed to the inn. Children remained in their homes, peering out of windows and doorways with mothers trying to pull them back even as the men went to investigate.

The town was awake.

The violence was…gratifying to say the least. Shio would move through the room like a ghost, ripping limbs from the men, tearing their weapons from their hands and using them against them. As the ceiling fell and people clamoured through the wreckage, Shio’s blood stained hands would tear through them with ease. The power of a shinobi was unmatched in these parts.

He would turn to a wall and let out a bellow, the force of his voice blowing the wall out, shards of wood and metal flying outwards into the building adjacent to them and causing it to begin to wobble until it collapsed. Shio would vanish out of the side of the building now and stop at town square. ”Akemi.”, he would say. His voice was soft, but through his abilities it would still float to her ears and to everyone around them. ”Tell that boy to run to the closest town. To let them know a New God is has stepped onto their land.”, of course, these words would be heard by the boy too, but, it was important Akemi conveyed the message anyways. ”Tell him to let them know every man, woman, and child in this village, what did you call it? Muda? Every man, woman and child in Muda has died to my hands. And that they should prepare to receive us for our arrival, or expect the same fate. Tell him to run. fast.

The small boy would smile for a moment, then rocket his body from the middle of the square into the closest house. Frantic screams coming from inside as blood stained the floors and walls. A shout from a man suddenly cut short. This process would continue to each and every house. They’d all heard this message, every man, woman, and child. There was no mistaking it. Everyone in Muda would be dead in minutes.

When did the smile fade? Akemi couldn't be certain. But at some point as she watched Shio work, the smile faded away from her face. The violence and gore of it all seemed to eventually overcome her as the girl suddenly doubled over and threw up on the floor, and yet she didn't seem afraid still. She simply wiped the back of her mouth and stepped away from the mess, turning as Shio addressed her. The girl paled slightly, but nodded in response before turning to motion the boy towards her again. This time he came as she beckoned, but as she relayed the message to him he dared not interrupt her. The moment she released him, he took off running as quickly as he could in the direction of the next town.

Akemi herself did not leave, but turned and watched as Shio went into every single house. A tear trailed down her cheek at the cries, but she did not move to stop him, nor did she seem disloyal. She simply seemed to mourn the loss of life. As she watched she noticed a home Shio had not yet stepped into, a boy staggering out of it. He was young and Akemi couldn't guess his age, but she noticed his blonde hair, and black eye. As Shio hadn't been in the home yet, Akemi could only guess the boy's own family, if there were any within, were responsible for his injury.

Shio moved like water through the homes, fluid movements as he massacred the people with a single kunai and his hands. Broken necks, decapitations, and screams that slowly subsided as the populace of the town dwindled to nothing. He would rocket through the town square towards the final house, when his eyes landed on the small boy with blonde hair. He stopped mid stride, crouched down as if about to jump but instead stood and turned towards the boy. The boy looked at Shio with wide eyes, seemingly undeterred by the deaths happening around him. Shio walked slowly, approaching him, "Your name?", he asked the boy.

As he got closer he would notice two things. First, that despite the child was walking, his feet were not actually touching the ground but instead just a few centimeters off of it. Second, that a faint glow was coming from his body. Shio's curiousity had been thoroughly peaked. Tucking the kunai into the holster on his leg, he'd walk up to the boy until there were only feet apart, still inspecting him as he did so. They were barely any different in height, making the union even stranger. The boy simply stared at Shio, silently. The blood that was splashed on Shio's face and clothes didn't seem to bother him. But as the power of Shio's voice and chakra set in, the boy would find himself relaxing slightly and even a soft smile forming on his face.

"Kesu."
"Are you not afraid?", Shio asked
"Of death?", Kesu rebutted.
"Of me."

Kesu paused, bringing a hand to his face to think for a moment before shaking his head, "No."

Shio frowned for a moment, "You're different.", he said.
Kesu nodded, "Like you."

Shio smiled, nodding, "Do you know how to control it?", Shio wasn't sure was it was, but it was clear Kesu was not a normal boy. The blonde child shook his head, and Shio nodded in response, seemingly understanding, "How long until thats healed?", he asked of the boys injuries. Kesu would furrow his brow, breath in, and then out. His flesh would suddenly ignite with a white flame over where the bruise was, then fade to nothing, the bruise gone. "Interesting...", Shio smiled. "You heard who I am?", he asked.

"A god.", Kesu answered flatly.

"And it appears I've found an angel.", Shio smirked, practically devilishly. To think a boy with power would be found here, of all places. "I am Shio.", he offered.

"Shio-sama."

"You'll follow me?", Shio asked.
Kesu paused, looking back at the building he'd just wandered from. In one of the windows Shio could see a man peering out at the two. "He did that?", Shio asked. Kesu nodded, and in a moment, Shio had vanished. There was no sounds, no screams this time. A faint thud could be heard, a door being broken perhaps? And nothing else. Then as quickly as he disappeared, Shio returned.

"You'll follow me?", he asked again.
The small blonde boy nodded, "Hai."

Shio nodded affirmatively, "Good.", suddenly his voice would grow louder, spreading to Akemi's ears, "Akemi, we're done here.", he beckoned for her. On to the next town.

Akemi rushed to Shio’s side, silent as she joined them in stride. Her eyes would look at Kesu, peering at him. Another, like Shio, that she was in the presence of? How blessed she was. It seemed so unlikely, and yet? How quickly her life had changed on this day. She stood among gods, their faithful disciple ”Akemi.”, he looked at her for a moment before gesturing towards the west, ”That boy we sent off, he went that way. I’d like you to follow him.”, he instructed, ”I’ll be heading to the east with Kesu here, to the next town. When you get to that other town, I want you to warn them of me. Affirm his stories. In the next town I arrive at, I will send two more to meet with you there. That boy, tell him he was spared by my grace and that he should work under you faithfully.”, he paused, stopping to walk.

”You are the first Priestess I will name. You will serve under me for the rest of your life. You will speak of me with reverence, you will teach these people the way of the voice.”, he dropped a hand, his brush falling from his sleeve. ”I am going ot give you all the knowledge of my people. You will become my representative here on Fountain. Those who you deem worthy, you will name as disciples under you.”

With a quick stroke in the air, Shio wrote simply a circle with the brush. Its amazing power condensing hundreds of books worth of literature and religious texts into its stroke. The golden ring of light hovered between the two of them. Akemi stared into it, captivated. Tears began to roll down her cheeks, ”This is the truth…?”, she mumbled.

Shio nodded, ”Akemi, Speaker for the True Voice, Priestess in the Way of the Voice. The Land of Fountains is my land now, and you will be my voice here. I will come through periodically. If you need anything from me, you know how to reach my people.”

Akemi nodded, ”yes.”, was all she needed to say. The golden light would fade and Akemi would fall to her knees, hands clapsed together to pray, ”I look forward to when I’ll see you again my Lord.”, her head would drop, then she would look up and smile, before doing a polite bow and smile at Kesu. Without another word she’d turn and walk in the direction Shio instructed her to, a newfound confidence in her step.

”One last stop, Kesu.”, Shio said. The blonde boy would simply nod, and off they went.
