White Eyed Demon of the Leaf

Post by TheLacarix » Fri Jan 22, 2021 11:20 am

Hot and humid, things that often came together across The Land of Tea.

Walking through that very land was the Ex-Bannin of Konoha, Aizawa Yoru he didn’t feel comfortable been so close to his homeland. Just across the border was an entire village of powerful shinobi would be on alert, ready to pounce on him at any moment. Though for now he was hidden within the crowds of people, wearing a straw hat over his head hiding his appearance to the most modest amount though it would be enough for now, any shinobi worth his salt would see straight through a transformation jutsu, there was no need for him to waste his chakra, plus he’d soon be revealing himself to a Konoha Shinobi.

Natuski, Yozei. The bastard son of Takeo who shared the same last name. The pair had arranged to meet up, corresponding over letters in secret. Yoru hoped that Yozei could be his eyes and ears in Konoha, make sure that the village was on the right path, that his brother was doing well, that he was safe. Today was the day they had planned to meet in person, Yoru felt Yozei was a young man he could manipulate, twist him into his own image and turn him against Takeo. Free Konoha of it’s foolish leader, make him a fleeting memory, make him a ghost of Konoha.

His first steps on this manipulation would be a gift, that he had neatly wrapped in brown paper and string and hung it over his shoulder, and he’d treat him to dinner. It was Yozei’s 18th birthday fairly soon. Yoru believing that he could be the farther figure that Takeo seemed to struggle to be, someone that Yozei feels he can trust.

Yoru came to the restaurant and gently placed his hand on the door pushing it open and stepping through, it was obviously a high-end restaurant, soft beautiful music playing by a live band, the waiters all dressed in well fitted navy blue kimonos. The Maitre’D wearing a matching kimono shuffled over to Yoru holding out a ledger with a list of names, which Yoru pointed to immediately confirming his reservation.

His hat was taken and hung up, the Maitre’D offered to take the parcel from over his shoulder, but Yoru politely declined, he was then immediately lead through rows of filled tables, plates of beautiful looking food and copious amounts of drinks. He pondered if Yozei would of ever been to a place like this. Even though manipulation was at the forefront of his mind, he did care for his young nephew and wanted him to enjoy his birthday, he wanted Yozei and Konoha to be happy and they’d both be better off without Takeo.

He was offered a seat at a low positioned, black sleek table. He obliged, bending down at sitting on his knees, resting the gift across the table. Now he’d simply have to wait for the birthday boy.

Yozei’s mind swirled with conflicting feelings. The last year had weighed on his mental state heavily as he struggled to find his path. No matter which direction he pursued, nothing ever felt quite right. He knew his father wouldn’t understand and had kept such troubles contained within himself. Takeo was a man born to be a shinobi, to lead and inspire. He was a fighter, Yozei doubted he had ever had to question his resolve or his fate before. As a bastard son to the Hokage however Yozei had been stripped of his right to claim lineage or position befitting his royal blood. His induction as a shinobi was the path chosen for him by his mother and father, a condition of pity after Takeo refused to marry his mother; Megami, daughter of the Fire country Daimyo. Though his grandfathers' 7-year term would soon come to an end, replaced by a member of Fire countries other noble family; the Toshikane.

Sometimes Yozei would dream of how different his life would be if he was legitimized as a prince, after his grandfather he would only be 4th in line, an uncle and two male cousins. Both younger than him though, he barely remembered the eldest and had left the palace before the youngest was born. Ever since his encounter with a spirit during the great suna prison break two years prior those dreams had begun to shift darker; to thoughts of reclaiming his birthright by force, thoughts that the way of the shinobi was not his true calling. He had even considered abandoning both the leaf and his lineage so that he could be with Suzume, daughter of the infamous MN Haruku Kenji. But that too had proven a naïve notion and shortly after the tournament in the Land of Stars the woman had written to him that their paths would have to diverge.

Though despite this, his father used his attachment and connection to the well-informed young woman to secretly trade information in and out of Konoha. He had been reduced to a currier, meant to kept a secret from the rest of his comrades and forbidden to even know what information he was passing along. Of course, he used these contacts and means of passing letters to make personal inquiries now and then, doing his best to ignore the pain of being cast aside by his former lover. It was through Suzume that he had heard his ‘uncle’ Yoru was in fact still alive, something he knew his father must have known, made all the more apparent when he confronted the Hokage directly. He had been told that Yoru had fallen, had become so full of hate and delusion that he had attempted to murder his former Sensei, Yozei’s own father the Hokage. Despite this Takeo had asked his son to trust him, that he hadn’t given up. That he believed Yoru could still be saved. But Yozei had to know, had to see him for himself. And so, he had arranged through Suzume and her network of curriers and informants to get in contact with Yoru and begin a correspondence of letters until finally they arranged on a time and place to meet.

The late summer heat permeated the air, enveloping everything. And yet it didn’t bother Yozei, he was a child of Fire in more ways than one. He felt at one with the element, his passion, anger and refined talent fueled him, blazing through every obstacle ever placed in his path. His prowess in Katon ninjutsu was beyond compare and the greater the heat the more at peace he felt. He had washed and changed his clothes at a local inn, leaving behind his forehead protector and his usual attire in favor of something more formal and befitting of a luxury restaurant. It had been many years since he had dressed eloquently, he had always thought he would hate going back to traditional clothes which almost exclusively wore up until the age of about the age of 8. He wore a beautifully designed red haori adorned in gold trim and leaf patterns at the sleeves overtop a black Nagagi. His haori was fastened with a red obi atop the white skirt-like Hakama. The only weapon he carried was his precious heirloom Katana in its deep red saya, its guard gold and the grip of its handle black matching the rest of his attire perfectly.

He found himself growing more nervous as he entered the building. He hadn’t seen his uncle since he was a Genin and due to the man being frequently away on missions he had only ever even seen him less than a dozen times throughout those first five years Yozei lived in Konoha, his own life busy from constant tutors, spending half his time living with his mother’s house in Konoha and studying and hard to become a shinobi. The teenager gave his name and followed one of the women to the table reserved for them. Yozei’s hair had grown out longer since he was a Genin, though it still only just came past his ears and the base of his neck, the reddish-brown locks tied in a short ponytail as the sides were brushed neatly to frame his face, highlighted by his bright cerulean blue eyes, a lighter blue than his fathers but clear and intelligent all the same. Yozei could barely look Yoru in the eyes, moving silently to sit on his knees when led to the reserved table. Slowly he lifted his head as his heartbeat grew faster. For the first time he wondered if he might have actually put himself in danger, though a combination of arrogance and trust kept that thought quiet at the back of his mind. “Uncle..it’s been a long time” he stated quietly.

Your sat comfortably at the low table, resting on the dark cushion his fingers gently moving across the parcel wrapped in brown paper. His gaze fell upon the door as it slowly opened, there stood his newphew almost the spitting image of Takeo, though a few distinct differences. It brought Your back to seeing his sensei for the first time on the training fields all those years ago, his nostrils flared in anger as he thought of the Hokage and then man he planned to kill. Though having his son kill him would be even better.

He noticed Yozei’s reaction, he seemed nervous and could barely even look at Yoru. He’d need to calm down Yozei’s nerves, it was understandable why he was nervous. Meeting with a fugitive in this way was treason, he could be exiled from the village and in turn he didn’t know he could trust Yoru this could all be a trap.

“Relax.” Yoru sighed out the words softly, as he raised his hands upwards showing that they were empty and that he was no threat, though of course that didn’t truly mean anything. It was more of a symbolic gesture.

“I’ve missed you.” He said, though he missed both Yozei, his homeland and his family and would protect it at all costs, but he wasn’t sure he could protect it with Takeo at the helm, he’d need to remove him and maybe put Yozei in the drivers seat. Though for now he’d need to playthings more casually, build into it “Happy Birthday Yozei, I got you something.” He slid the parcel across the table, beneath was a weapon, one that he’d taken from the Hyuuga fugitive. Now it would be Yozei’s.

Yozei slowly exhaled as he heard Yoru’s voice. He had been in Tea country for a few weeks already, trying to get himself focused. During that time, he had been focussing on breathing exercises and learning Iaido Kenjutsu, but also developing his own style inspired from what he recalled being taught by Fire country samurai as a child. He still had a long way to go but every day he felt a little closer to gaining control over his emotions and finding the answers toward where his path lay. His left hand rested on the deep red sheath of his katana, it was a source of comfort for him and helped to stifle the spiritual energy that afflicted him and manifested in times of heightened emotion. When his head rose, his eyes were calm and confident, his mind and body centered and relaxed.

As Yoru lifted his hands, Yozei’s slid to rest on his knees in a neutral display. He searched his uncle’s intent as he claimed he missed him, though Yozei wasn’t particularly intuitive or good at reading people, not like his father. “I’ve missed you too” he said with a soft smile. “So much has happened…” he sighed, not even knowing where to begin, though he was sure the same was true for Yozei. In fact it was only then that he noticed the man was wearing an eye patch. His father hadn’t mentioned anything about that. For a moment he stared, concerned and then he realized how inconsiderate he was being, wanting only to talk of his own adventures and oblivious to just how much Yoru had been suffering. The former Bannin broke the brief silence, bringing attention to the gift as he wished Yozei a happy birthday. He had almost forgotten, in just a few days he would be 18, a milestone in the lives of many and in Fire country a transition to adulthood, though many countries celebrated such a thing much earlier. “Thank you, uncle Yoru” he said, bowing his head slightly as he accepted the gift. It was evident as soon as he touched it that it was a Katana, though the shape certainly gave a strong indication.

The Special Jounin’s eyes lit up as he unwrapped the parcel, admiring the beautifully designed Saya, jet black with striking electric blue lightning streaks and white wind-like swirls. It was truly a work of art and similarly the leather grip and detailed craftsmanship of the metal tsuba felt powerful and energizing against his hand. With one hand on the sheath and the other on the handle he slid it open slightly, reveling in the familiar feel of steel parting from wood. There was a satisfying noise and flow as the pieces parted even slowly and he admired the few inches of steel he could see without causing any offense by drawing the weapon fully in a restaurant. “It’s gorgeous, powerful” he noted, allowing himself to resonate with the blade, feel it and accept it. Slowly he sheathed the katana, clicking back in place as he slid the weapon against his other Katana, crossing over it with the grip protruding just above the other one. He was eager to practice with the new sword and learn its intricacies. He could tell by the grip and the slightest marks in the tsuba that it was well used, perhaps a personal sword of Yoru’s for some period of time.

Yoru watched his nephew, taking in every movement every subtle twitch, trying to read as much as he could from the boy and it was apparent he was taken in by Yoru’s missing eye thought for now Yoru wouldn’t divulge in it, he’d simply focus on Yozei and his birthday and attempt to bring him on side, for his eventual disposal of Takeo. Though he’d need to develop their bond, make the young man in front of him not, just him, but trust that Yoru had the best interests of Konoha in mind.

He smiled with delight as the young jounin seemed pleased with the blade, he seemed awed by it’s beautiful etchings and the darkened blade, though extravanget in nature it was also a blade of substances. It somewhat reflected Yoru, on the outside, delicate, precise and pleasing to the eye but incredibly dangerous and just as powerful “You’re correct Yozei, it isn’t just a gorgeous blade it has a hidden power within, if you channel your own chakra into it you’ll be able to send a surge of ration chakra through your opponent, paralysing them in place.” Unlike Takeo and Yoru, Yozei didn’t share their affinity for suiton, Yoru’s finger tips edged towards his chest, only for a moment before recoiling back, remembering the ring with a suiton symbol pressed on to it gifted to him by Takeo many years ago. Yoru couldn’t share this bond with Yozei the same, he had done with his farther but Yoru could share his second affinity of ration with his young nephew.

A waitress, tall, slim and blonde, donning a black kimono with a gold trim held two thin menus under her arm and placed them on the table in front of them “Hello sirs, welcome. Can I offer you any beverages whilst you peruse the menu?” Yoru nodded immediately, “A bottle of tatsuriki sake and two glasses.” The waitress paused for a moment, and looked at Yozei as though to inspect him if he was old enough to drink, but she seemed satisfied that he was old enough she nodded “Of course sir.” She’d linger for a moment, if Yozei wanted to order anything else, if not she’d turn on her heels and leave.

Yoru slipped the menu up in his hand and began to look through it “I’m sure your wondering why I invited you here, I could easily sent your gift via the postal service and a nice card with some ryo and you’d still think I was a good uncle.” He said with a soft chuckle yet his tone quickly changed “I’ve heard rumours of an upcoming war, said to be A Great War and the entire world seems on edge, chomping at the bit.” A hint of sadness fell into his voice, seeming genuine “I worry for our homeland.”

Yozei marveled at his new prized possession, especially as he was told of its power. He had never considered being able to command any element other than the two he had already trained extensively in. There simply remained far too much to do for him to dedicate time to changing his affinity to something that didn’t relate to earth or fire, both of which he felt a very strong connection to. But if what Yoru said was true then he didn’t actually need to understand raiton or be able to control it directly in order to utilize it, only fuel it will raw chakra and let the blade itself do the work of converting the nature and shaping it. “Amazing, so weapons like that exist too” he realized. He knew many weapons contained unique properties, but he didn’t know the full extent of what could or could not be imparted into an item.

The handsome teenager smiled politely at the waitress. She was pretty but his eyes didn’t linger, he could appreciate the attractiveness of women but had little interest in pursuing romance lately, even if only short-lived flings. He didn’t order anything himself, normally he would drink some kind of tea of course, though a few cups of sake seemed in order given the occasion. It was his birthday celebration after all and a happy reunion with family. His first-time drinking had only been a little over a year ago in celebration back in Star Country and he hadn’t had alcohol again since that trip.

Once his new Katana was secured, Yozei flipped open the menu. There were many expensive and eloquent dishes, and suddenly his appetite began to come about. He had a strong appreciation for high class foods and there was nothing in Konoha that could quite compare to places like this in Tea country, comparable to dishes prepared by top chefs of Fire country that all resided outside the shinobi village. There was still a slight lingering apprehension, knowing the deeper implications of this meeting. He wondered what exactly Yoru’s angle was in all this and looked at him with genuine intrigue as the man brought up the subject. “Yes, I suppose that’s true” he admitted with a small smile. He didn’t need to press further than that as it was clear Yoru was getting to the point himself.

The teenager’s bright blue eyes grew heavy as his uncle spoke of an upcoming war. Despite his father’s best attempts at reassuring him that Konoha would prevail and overcome any enemies in the years to come, there was no question that the world was about to be plunged into violence and many would die. There was no point in trying to play coy, Yozei could pretend to be carefree and naïve fairly well but in this situation, honesty benefited him more. “I can feel it too. Tensions have been building for a while, I’ve felt it in Fur country and in Star and by now everyone has heard of the conflicts that occurred at Soul. It feels like a full-scale attack or an official declaration of War could happen at anytime” he admitted with a sigh. “I don’t think anyone else my age or younger really knows what Kiri and Iwa shinobi are like, most wouldn’t stand a chance. We need as many strong leaders and role models as we can get” he sighed, his eyes pleading in a silent bid to feel out whether any part of Yoru had a desire to return home to fight for them. He wasn’t sure the politics of whether or not his dad could pardon him, but he was sure he would pull whatever strings he could if Yoru’s intent was genuine.

Yoru’s single hazel eye peered at Yozei as he spoke, seeming to share his concerns of the upcoming war and the need for strong leaders to fend of Iwagakure and Kirigakure. He nodded in agreement at every word he said, as Yoru was about to respond the waitress came over carrying the bottle of sake and two square masu cups placing them on the table and filled the cups almost to the brim with the clear liquid.

The Rogue Shinobi nodded as though to say thank you, but before she left, she asked “Are you both ready to order?” Yoru looked up at Yozei and assumed he nodded, Yoru would say “Yes.” The waitress pulled out a small black book and a short pencil, ready to scribble down their order.

Yoru pulled up the menu and pointed at the words scribed across it “I’ll take the tasting menu.” A variety of small plates and a large number of courses, it was rather expensive but it was a special occasion and Yoru didn’t mind splashing out. Once Yozei and Yoru gave their orders the waitress would leave.

Nodding at the wooden cup urging Yozei to drink, Yoru lifted up his own cup “Kanpai!” he placed the wooden box to his lips and took a sip. It was incredibly smooth and produced little to no burning, but now it was to get back at the topic in hand the up coming war and the leadership.

“Sorry, where were we. Ah yes, you’re certainly right in your hypothesis but older members of Konoha don’t really know what the shinobi of Iwa and Kiri are truly like they have a ruthlessness that our homeland doesn’t have making them incredibly dangerous.” His fingers probed around the wooden box, readying for his next topic “No one in Konoha has that ruthlessness, not even your father.” He said slowly, yet carefully “Our dear Hokage is one of the most powerful shinobi I’ve met, I doubt anyone could defeat him in single combat, but I’m concerned he doesn’t have what it takes to be ruthless for what’s on the horizon, he’s too trusting he always looks for the best in people.” He sighed softly “Which is his biggest strength and weakness. It’s why I’ve asked you here today, I want you to be my eyes-” He forced out a snort, gesturing towards his eyepatch “-in Konoha, just keep me up to date make sure nothing too rash is happening.” he knew this was a rather daunting task, he was essentially asking for Yozei to be a spy.

“I’ll have the same” Yozei said simply when asked about his order. He could appreciate the way the wealthy tended to eat, sampling multiple dishes and perhaps not even fully finishing each plate. There was something refined about not stuffing yourself too much but still being able to taste a wide array of flavors and textures. He lifted the masu cup slowly and with good posture, bringing it fully to his lips without leaning toward it much if at all. The 16-year-old didn’t drink often, only on celebrations such as this or after his tournament match against the Kazekage. Though he supposed he had made a few exceptions for Suzume, even he wasn’t immune to the charms of a pretty girl, or just one in particular for him. The sake went down smooth, and he could appreciate the flavor, enhanced by the wooden box it was drunk from. “You truly know how to celebrate uncle” he said with a genuine smile. He was quite looking forward to the food.

The young Special Jounin thought back to the match of Kaguya Aimi vs the Mizukage and how the two of them had fought with what seemed like genuine killing intent despite both being from the same village. It was true, he hadn’t seen anything quite like that in Konoha and in his own match against Kiyori certainly they were both holding back from serious harm and felt quite remorseful for even causing minor burns when they celebrated together afterward. “I know in my heart you’re right” he admitted. He had never seen a ruthless side to his father, he trained hard, and he could be harsh at times during their training but for the most part he was loving and encouraging, always there with motivational speeches and unconditional love. He was a strong role model, a protector. But he wore his heart and his weakness on his sleeve and that was far too apparent. Reckless and too trusting. Once someone had earned his father’s trust, he seemed to believe in them unquestionably. “You’re right” he stated again, downing the rest of his drink before placing it on the table, slouching forward somewhat he placed his hands on his knees and sighed deeply. “The village is vulnerable to manipulation…to betrayal” he admitted. He agreed with Yoru completely.

His hands flew into seals under the table as he closed his eyes and seemed to struggle with the concept. “I’ll do what I have to” he said suddenly as his foot tapped against the ground. A formation of rock jutted out from the ground to encapsulate Yoru’s feet and legs given the way he was sitting while simultaneously Yozei’s hands shot to the newly gifted Katana, flowing chakra into it as he slashed out with an Iaido draw in an attempt to cut Yoru’s arm shallowly and wrack his body with paralysis. He knew in a proper fight he had no chance against the Bannin but even Yoru was subject to betrayal by those he trusted and that was exactly why his father had gotten to Yozei first, with the task of bringing Yoru home. “That’s exactly why we need you home, Konoha is where you belong” he insisted. Yozei would have back up soon if he needed it but for the moment he was on his own.

Yoru smiled with delight, watching his nephew enjoy the restaurant and all it had to offer. He had brought the young man here to manipulate him and bring him into the fold, yet he still wanted Yozei to enjoy his birthday the most he could. He chuckled softly at the young man suggesting Yoru knew how to celebrate.

I’m sure a prince like you has had much better before young Yozei, you needn’t be so modest.” He was glad Yozei seemed so susceptible to what he was saying, clear they we’re on the same page. One day he planed on having Yozei remove Takeo from his position of power, perhaps the young man would make a good replacement.

There was an instant shift in the air, as earth ripped through the ground below grabbing at his feet trapping him in his place. What a fool Yoru had being, he had become engulfed in his own ideas he hadn’t seen Yozei’s true nature. A mistake Yoru wouldn’t make again.

Trying to pull his feet free, it was apparent that Yozei was powerful with Ninjutsu perhaps equal to Yoru and certainly stronger than his father as he could dislodge himself. Yozei, luckily for Yoru was too slow though as the newly gifted blade came swinging towards him. Within an instant, a kunai as within his hand creating a firm defence to meet the young man’s blade.

He sighed softly as he channelled through his body, ration chakra poured from his tenketsu covering him in electricity and hopefully knocking Yozei backwards, whilst breaking the doton that wrapped around his feet freeing the ex bannin of Konoha from it’s grasp. Normally the electricity would be lashing out at anyone who came near, but with the full restaurant he’d need to be careful not to hurt anyone. The passive would be so weakened, Yozei would feel little to no paralysis just a slight numbness.

The patrons gasped out in shock at the violence “Yozei, you are very noble, but you aren’t powerful enough to take me in alone.” He’d be wary and would try not to get caught off guard again “If you want to use the full potential of that weapon, try channelling chakra into it.” He said with a smirk, he hoped to both teach Yozei how to use the new weapon and hopefully drain his chakra quicker. If Yozei was more tired, it would be easier for Yoru to take him down safely.

Even though Yoru had made a mistake today, it was his first attempt at anything like this. It was a harsh lesson but something that would guide him in the future, to be perhaps more subtle with his manipulation.
