How long... how long had it been since his legs felt soil underneath them? How long had it been since he looked up to a blue sky, since he saw the green grass, since he felt the wind blow across his body? Truly, at this point, the man's concept of time was so unbelievably skewed, he couldn't hope to answer that question with any sort of accuracy. What he did know was simple; he was gone, and now he was back again, because gods do not die... they simply fade for a time. But they always return. And oh so many things he would have to do now... people to reconnect with, power to attain, and of course family to find. That last one was first on the list; Where oh where had his daughter gone?

He hadn't the faintest idea right now... But he knew someone who might.

As he had expected, she had taken over for him in his absence. And no doubt that meant there were others wearing his rings, the symbol of his group. If he could find one who bore that ring, they would likely know where she was. And so, the young looking child clad in black cloak worked his way through River Country. He had had a base set up in the country, a small hideaway that was used for laying low and not much else, but it was a foothold if nothing else. It was also where the anchor he had given his daughter had taken him... and there, she had left a cache of information for him, as well as many of his items of interest. Even his scroll, the very thing containing his organs from a life so long ago... What a good daughter. But still, she was nowhere to be found. He would need her presence for the future.

And given that he had caught wind of some up and coming land known as the "Realm of Titans" nearby, he had a hunch that if anyone in his group yet drew breath, they would be investigating the secrets of this new found land. In a sleepy village off the edge of a forest, The Thing caught his first glimpse of his daughter's information bearing fruit; a ring. Not his ring, not his design, but one she had left for him.. cheeky of her, to replace his design with her own. But alas, such was the growth of his kin. Either way, that black serpentine ring now rested upon his finger, just as it rested upon the finger of a man walking through this sleepy village. But how to get the man's attention?

A simple test should suffice; walking past the man, he uttered a single, simple phrase: "No Stone Unturned." The voice was deep, raspy... clearly not used in a long time. And most definitely did not feel like it should belong to a mere child. But if the man heard the phrase, and knew the rest, it would be enough to know that he was right; This man was one of her recruits.

The man had come so far in the years since he left his homeland. He had trained under legendary shinobi, gained a taste of their power. Sailed across the seas to no less than three continents, serving as first mate in a small pirate vessel that through the chaos of war managed to climb their way to securing leadership over the hundreds of pirate factions. Such a path was not the one Ichiro desired however, these were only resources to him, a means to an end that led him to controlling Knowledge country directly and even securing an additional island near Shrimp Country to act as a smuggling cove. With a massive fleet of pirates and over a hundred of the most advanced researchers and technology developers in the world at his disposal he was able to greatly expand Chishiki’s network and tap some feeds directly back to him, as contact with the organization leader Suzume grew more sparse. Yet still, he was not satisfied. His goal had been to purge waterfall country of its criminal element or failing that take control of it in order to better protect his family and countrymen. He desired to elevate the country, secretly if need be, to develop much more advanced technologies and military might.

Unfortunately, in the nearly 10 years since he had been away from his homeland new forces had sunk in their teeth to the land. This Realm of Titans that had began in River Country quickly found itself involved in larger scale conflicts over the course of the war, legends spread of the titan mercenary king, a beastial naked woman whose strength rivaled gods, and even a massive dragon. If even half of the tales were true then it came as no surprise that they were able to claim most of Waterfall Country as well as form an alliance with another budding nation known as Gold Country; the two engaging in several battles with Wind Country and managing to defend their lands.

Now that terms of peace had been negotiated between the great nations following Kirigakure’s invasion into Fire country, it seemed finally time to venture to this Realm of Titans personally. His captain Kaisui was enjoying his mantle as pirate king back on Jinjeku island, and while Knowledge Country had officially been allowed to regain its independence, Ichiro was still considered its leader. Their military might was minimal, being awarded only a small ship from the pirate fleet to serve as his personal vessel. Nonetheless the value in the large territory and the great minds was enough for Ichiro and with the valuable minerals mined they could pay mercenaries and other crews of the Black Wake for protection; the latter of which Ichiro was still on good terms with.

Travelling with an invaluable companion he met during the war, the two figures were clad in salt-stained blue cloaks as they traveled inland through what was once River Country, descending from the northern coast where their schooner was docked. They had paid appropriate docking fees, giving no reason to be turned away. ‘Titan home’ as the village was so simply named was at least a two-day journey from the coast. Unfortunately, with the swampy and river laden terrain horses did not fare well in the terrain, though the frog-like natives of the land operated many small ferry boats that would take one along the expansive rivers. After the first day, Ichiro and his female companion found themselves in a small village for the night. The sun was beginning to set and the sound of frogs croaking and crickets chirping echoed through the river inundated forests. The samurai turned pirate was not used to such lively ambient noise, he had grown used to the waves of the Ocean and to be sure the storms and winds could be loud but it was a different sort of noise from this cacophony of animal sounds. A hooded boy approached, as if a wraith, and for a moment the young man was startled. He quickly regained his composure, however, discerning the words despite the raspy voice. Ichiro’s icy blue eyes assessed this individual. It was not a contact he was familiar with but then again in this organization ambiguity and multiple separate cells was essential. “No lead unfollowed. No knowledge forbidden” he replied smoothly. His curious eyes seemed to hang on every detail of this newcomer, naturally noticing the matching ring this newcomer wore. He was greatly interested in what this meeting would provide him.

The woman next to him, of a similar meager height seemed notably more unsettled based solely on her body language. She stood a few feet behind the man and angled her body toward her companion, observing in order to ascertain how she should act in this situation. Even beneath the hood of her cloak and the fading light one could catch glimpses of her pale white eyes, dark hair and bronzed skin tone. She didn’t speak, seeming content to follow the black-haired man’s lead.

At least his intuition hadn't dulled over the years; This man was indeed one of his - Suzume's members. The boy seemed well put together as well, a far cry from the insanity that partners like Nehan and Yaksha were known for. Though, truly, who was he to question the sanity of anyone anymore? The idle thought brought a gritty chuckle from the young form's throat, but he had to come back to reality now. He had made contact, and now he needed to continue the conversation. "Good. There are still those who fly my banners... Very pleasing." Yes, he referred to them as his banners. His daughter was at the helm while he was away, and she had done well, but it was he who founded them. Whether or not the young man took offense to his claim of power mattered not, for the young child would explain all in time.

"So, how is she these days? Hiraku, that is. I understand it has been... difficult to contact her." That was truly the extent of what he knew about Chishiki nowadays; Suzume was MIA and the organization had no true leader at the moment. Before Ichiro had a chance to answer his question, the young boy held up a hand as if to dismiss his own comment. As he did so, the long sleeve of his cloak slid down his arm, revealing pale skin covered in stitches like a ragdoll. "Ah, such conversation is not meant for public streets. I forget myself. Forgive me, it has been... quite some time." The young boy took a moment to look around, and while they were currently alone along the small dirt roads of the village, there was no guarantee of privacy in the open like this. "I don't suppose you have anywhere we could speak... somewhere where the walls don't have ears, hmm?" Whether it was the surrounding forest or a nearby building, even the inn, he cared not. Once they had a moment to speak alone, he could begin to unravel his mysteries... and learn whatever mysteries this young man and woman held.

Ichiro assessed this ‘child’, he could sense the stranger was dangerous, possibly only an extension of whoever he was actually speaking to. In his studies and travels, he had come to learn of various types of clone techniques as well as spiritual possessions and brainwashing genjutsu techniques. He had even come to learn of the art of puppetry from the personal notebook he had received from the Suna Bannin known as Zao. He had traded such writings to Suzume however as his first contribution to the organization of Chishiki. His former mentor was much more knowledgeable in regard to spirits than puppetry however and therefore the notes were not detailed enough to include all the intricacies or forbidden teachings. Nonetheless, he didn’t discount the possibility that the one he spoke to wasn’t even human, the mismatching voice being the greatest indicator. As such when the individual alluded to being the founder of Chishiki, none other than Hiraku Kenji, it was not a claim that he would disregard. For many years he had sought the secrets that Kenji held, the infamous entity drawing him to Suzume in the first place. Ichiro was the type of person that was never satisfied, there was always more to learn, more power to gain. His ideals matched quite closely with his perception of who Kenji was, though he was wary in dealing with anyone who claimed to be him. There was much to gain in assuming his reputation, and also much to fear in crossing paths with anyone that would be so bold. If he was in fact who he claimed to be, there still was the possibility he could kill even a member of his own organization.

The ambitious young man allowed the claim to hang in the air for several long moments. His icy blue eyes betrayed his intelligence and caution. Often, he found the smartest thing he could do was say nothing at all, keeping his own information and reactions close to his chest and allowing others to divulge their intentions. At this point, he had no reason to believe that this individual wasn’t an ally at least, a fellow member of Chishiki. Regardless, if they were in fact Kenji or another member wishing to take control, they desired to find the de facto leader, Hiraku Suzume. Ichiro’s eyes flickered to their surroundings, an open pathway with fading daylight. Anyone could be lurking in the shadows nearby. The inn within the small village, while more crowded could at least be more easily safeguarded against eavesdroppers. It would also prove a safer location should this encounter grow hostile. He nodded in agreement, “Let’s check in” he said simply, waving the individual toward the inn at the edge of the town not more than a few hundred meters away. He would let the boy walk ahead so that he could have a brief moment to reassure Sumire, who was doing her best to remain composed despite having no idea what was going on. She had no awareness of Chishiki or even who Kenji was and as such could only sense that the situation was tense and potentially dangerous. “What’s going on?” she whispered, “Just trust me” he assured, placing his hand on her shoulder while standing between her and the mysterious entity. ‘Mark him’ he mouthed the words and the woman acted quickly, her Mycorrhiza fluttering through her body as a collection of tiny mushrooms sprouted from the stranger’s lower back, beginning to spread their microscopic spores.

With that the group moved together toward the inn. Ichiro would take the liberty of paying for two separate rooms next to each other in the corner of the two-story building’s second floor. It was a habit of his whenever he could afford it to keep an empty room next to the one he stayed in. A small measure of assurance to prevent eavesdropping as well as provide a somewhat safe alternative to use to get a drop on anyone he might suspect could be planning to attack the room he was known to be staying in. “Sumire” he stated simply, handing her one of the room keys as the came to the top of the stairs. “Keep an eye out for others but don’t listen in on us” he instructed. “Okay. Be Careful” she wished of him to which he simply nodded. Once she was in her room, she would create a patch of mushrooms against he cracks of her door and along the outer seal of her window, blending in with other such fungus that was already present in such a humid and swampy environment. Closing the blinds so others couldn’t look in she would keep the lights off, the room seemingly empty as she used her mushrooms to survey the hallway and the outside.

Once in their own room, Ichiro would similarly ensure windows were properly closed and obsured before addressing the individual claiming to be the founder of Chishiki. “If you are who you claim, your Fuuinjutsu talents should easily be able to secure this room from eavesdropping,” he said matter-of-factly. He did not wish to offend Kenji but the very least he could do was contribute to keeping their meeting private and simultaneously displaying some basic level of the skills he was renowned for.

The young form of a boy simply nodded in understanding and agreement as Ichiro mentioned checking in to the inn for the night, using that as a means of private conversation. It was good enough, he doubted the locals had any understanding of the two shinobi anyways, let alone their power. They were safe here... As the man and his follower slowed down a bit, letting the boy lead the way, he smirked under his hood as the small fuuinjutsu behind his ears glowed softly with circulated chakra, amplifying his sense of hearing sevenfold. The girl seemed suspicious, but the man was quick to put her fears to rest. Then silence... He had no doubt they were planning for the worst, but that was something he valued in a potential ally... even when that caution was brandished against himself. He'd let them plot, it mattered little. "Let us be off then." the raspy voice creaked out of the young boy's throat, his blue and black eyes peering over his shoulder for only a moment as he moved towards the inn.

Once inside, they would quickly make their way to a set of conjoined rooms, and after his comrade was posted outside to guard them, the two were finally alone. Ichiro was first to speak, asking for a bit of good faith that The Thing provide some means of proof that he was more than a child. "Hmhm, interesting... I have made no claim to be anyone yet. Your intuition is sharp indeed... A valuable asset." Silently, the hood fell off of the child's head, revealing a haunting visage of stitchwork and pale skin. shaggy brown hair hung just over his brow, but those strange eyes... blue with blackened sclerae... They were unmistakable. "Privacy is of no concern. a menial use of my power, but a necessary one it seems." Without moving an inch, The boy's body was surrounded by an aura of black power as chakra welled up within him. No matter how long it had been, the act of molding chakra was as natural as breathing to him. He was incapable of forgetting such a basic instinct.

A moment later, a small black sphere, barely visible, would extend out from the boy's form. It would slowly creep through the air, filling the room, and of course encompassing Ichiro within it's radius. Not fuuinjutsu... But it will suffice. Sound cannot exit the confines of this sphere, but it can still enter it. We can hear out, but no one can hear within. Privacy well established... agreed?" Giving a small bow, his demonstration complete, the boy would then fire back. "Now then... Who is it you think I claim to be, boy? And on the same note, who exactly are you?" His tone grew cold for a moment as he asked his questions, searching for a seat by a nearby desk and twisting it around so that he might face the young man while he seated himself. His mannerisms were immediate, if anyone knew who he truly was they'd recognize that posture; One ankle resting on the other leg's knee, elbows positioned on his horizontal calf, fingers interlaced with each other, and his chin leaning ever so delicately on those fingers. He leaned forward with fervent interested, almost desperate in his desire to understand who it was that bore his ring.

Ichiro received the praise with a neutral stare, he was still not convinced of who this individual was, and no amount of ego stroking would cause him to lower his guard. The man had grown up, his shaggy black hair, lightly stubbled face and athletic build marked that of someone who had faced the world. And yet, the inner boy remained. That curious, knowledge devouring soul that wished to learn at any cost, to fulfil his grand ambitions and see himself become something ever more than he currently was. When that hood fell, he found himself at once believing again. In the greatness that existed in the world, the legends that could shape reality to their whims. There was no fear, only unbridled fascination and contentness. He felt at peace, fulfilled to finally see the flesh that bore the legendary earth grudge fear that he had sought after for years. The sudden black aura only confirmed what he had dared to suspect. It was him. His attention shifted to the chakra as it expanded. He had seen black chakra once before, in Suzume but this was not a technique he was familiar to. From his understanding, the Hiraku’s chakra color was not a form of nature manipulation but rather a result of their genetic makeup. Therefore, it was likely this was a type of jutsu that could be achieved through raw chakra manipulation. “Fascinating” he muttered to himself, the scholarly nature which he masked within the appearance of a sailor was now coming forth. “Mimicking Fuuinjutsu properties through raw ninjutsu, simple in theory…” he trailed off, the execution was a bit more advanced. Fuuinjutsu seals were a convenient way to concentrate and store an effect, usually allowing one to increase complexity without need of actively managing control or shape manipulation. To combine potent effects, size, and shape without anchoring one's chakra in a seal was a bit above his current level though he would certainly experiment with new concepts and continue to push his limits.

He returned his attention to the patchworked child before him. “There’s no doubt. You can only be Hiraku Kenji; The thing that should not be, though you’re shorter than I expected. Is that really your true form?” he questioned boldly. It seemed much of his caution had slipped away now that they were adequately alone in conversation and moreover that his suspicions had been confirmed. Now, he would either be placed squarely on the path that he had dreamed of for years…or he would be killed, and if it were the latter then there was nothing he could do to prevent that, and so there was little to truly fear. The man unhooked the buckle that secured his katana sheath, sitting on the edge of the bed across from Kenji, placing his sword next to himself casually. “My name is Takeda Ichiro. I was not born anyone of note, raised in Waterfall Country. When I was young, a great sickness and famine plagued my region after the Soul Genma rampaged through our lands. Many died, my mother was among them, but before she passed, I witnessed her save lives through the use of Iijutsu, I didn’t understand what I saw at the time but I vowed to learn such powers for myself, only to become far stronger than she ever was. My journeys have led me to seek training under several famous shinobi as well as work my way into Chishiki and the pirate organization, The Black Wake. I now even have ties to Knowledge country, but perhaps the person I have been most enthralled with is you. I share your passion and humbly ask to study under you so that I may be imparted with even the smallest fraction of your wisdom and power.” He pleaded. “I will assist you in any way that I can” he vowed, moving swiftly into a kneeling position. He felt confident he could be of use to Kenji and hoped that this meeting would act as another catalyst to elevate him to new heights.

Ahh, to see the wonder of one who still had so much to learn about the infinite possibilities of chakra. It had been far too long since he had the pleasure of witnessing that gleam in someone's eye, as they realized that everything they thought was impossible was capable of being done through the power of chakra. A smirk grew across the child's face as Ichiro analyzed his technique. "Not as difficult as one might think. But I digress." In truth, the technique might have been a bit advanced for others. Perhaps his perception of what was and wasn't complex was simply skewed by his limitless potential. He had left craters in this planet that the world would never heal from, stretching farther than the eye could see... a soundproof barrier was child's play in comparison. But as that name crossed Ichiro's mouth, the young child seemed to freeze for a brief moment. His eyes grew wide, as if he had been punched in the stomach and the wind were knocked out of him.

"That name... I haven't heard it in eons." There it was though, the cat was out of the bag; Hiraku Kenji had risen from death for the umpteenth time. "Yes, That is my name. As for this form however, it is only temporary. You see, I was... dormant for a time. I attempted a technique that would have cast me back in time, and not just a few moments but years into the past. It seems, however, the laws of the universe must be bent a little more before such a task is possible. In any case, a young child got hold of one of my many relics, and through it I corrupted the boy into a host for me to inhabit. It will suffice for the time being... his sacrifice will not be forgotten, hmhmhmhm." Kenji rose from the table as he spoke, pacing around lightly with his hands behind his back as he exposited the past week or so to this man, this 'Takeda Ichiro'. But it would be rude to ignore the man's own story, and so Kenji would pause in step at the mention of the Soul Genma.

"Ahh, Shishire no Shigenma. A being who's power rivals my own, if I'm being honest. It makes sense of course; only a god could challenge a god." The man continued with a synapsis of his life to this point, working alongside pirates, training under several famous shinobi, even working alongside this "knowledge country"... Ha, what a name. When he was done, the boy pledged allegiance to Kenji, asking to be imparted with the god's power in return. And Kenji was only too happy to oblige. "But of course, young Ichiro. What kind of god could turn down such a fervent believer? There is much I will need from you in the coming weeks, but I assure you; rise to the challenge, and I will make you a man to be feared by all who walk this earth." He was no Nehan, no Yaksha, and certainly no Akane... but a pawn was a pawn. And if this pawn survived long enough to reach the other side of the board, Kenji would keep his oath and shape him into something far greater.

"Now... first and foremost. Be still, this will not hurt." As Kenji spoke, more chakra began to gather around him. At first, the power was noticeable but comparable to the jutsu he had used before to silence the room. His chakra extended invisibly out from his position, as his eyes closed and he focused on the chakra coursing through Ichiro's body. Kenji's chakra was far more accurate than his eyes when it came to his sensory capabilities, and so his chakra wormed it's way through Ichiro's tenketsu, completely unnoticeable. "If I am to properly make use of your capabilities, I must understand them. And this is easier than asking. As he spoke, his chakra presence grew even stronger, the transparent vignette of black energy thickening to the point it was barely see through. And then, it grew even greater, crackling around him audibly as the dust in the room was pushed aside, the energy coursing through him reaching a peak as his sensory chakra continued to search Ichiro's body for each and every fact that Kenji wanted to know. Then, finally, when all was said and done, His chakra slowly died down... And Kenji felt dizzy for a moment. In fact, his knees felt weak, and a moment later he collapsed into the chair he had sat in before, his eyes spinning and his breath labored - despite not even needing to breath.

"Damn... I'm still so weak. Curse this frail form." He had gotten what he desired, the information of Ichiro's various skills and powers was clearly present in Kenji's mind now. But just a simple chakra analysis had left his mind reeling... Truly, he had a long way to go before he could reveal himself to the world again.

Thereafter, he will gather a large amount of chakra within himself before exerting this chakra into the tenketsu of anyone he is capable of sensing at the time. Doing so, Kenji will read their tenketsu for any and every method of chakra molding the target has ever used. This enables him to learn of any chakra based concentrations, or chakra based abilities, the target possesses. This includes things such as genjutsu trigger methods, affinities, Hiden jutsu, Kekkei Genkai, Control based Regeneration, Elemental bodies, and the list goes on. It must be noted however that Kenji is incapable of readily identifying a concentration or ability he has never seen before, but can thereafter identify it should he see the same style in another target.

[Sensory Style • Archive Signature]
B-Rank Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: 25 Control
Kenji begins by performing a sensory technique such as [Beyond Senses] or some variant that grants him sensory capabilities. Then he will activate this technique with a small flare of chakra, which allows him to archive the signature in his mind. Doing so enables him to pick out the chakra signature amongst a crowd, put a name and face to the signature, and even recall previous sensory information about the subject such as previous evaluations performed on the signature. This archiving lasts indefinitely.

Ichiro found himself eager to explore the possibilities of Fuuinjutsu and raw chakra manipulation. If he could achieve similar feats through raw chakra it would bypass time required to learn intricate seals and patterns. He had heard Kenji was a master of Fuuinjutsu, raw chakra molding and of course Space/Time techniques. Each of which were fields he wished to learn more of. Currently, his talents were focused on Raiton, Suiton, and Iijutsu and though he hadn’t mastered any advanced jutsu his control was quite remarkable for someone who was largely self-taught, only experiencing brief instruction under the legendary doctor Takamori Saigo and the wandering Suna Bannin; Saisuko Zao.

To study under the god of chakra himself was perhaps the greatest dream he could imagine. The potential insight into developing his talents was limitless. He watched Kenji carefully, studying his response as he claimed to have been separated from this time and space for eons. Suzume had told him her father had simply vanished, refusing to share the true nature of his experiments on the perceived permanence of his departure. Therefore, Ichiro had believed Kenji to simply working from the shadows and plotting some grand scheme in this chaos of war. To think that his powers had trapped him in a different dimension of sorts…come to think of it he had heard such rumors many years ago. Perhaps this was not the first time Kenji had departed through time and space. Truly it seemed such advanced ninjutsu came as a high risk, pushing the limits of such techniques being risky and unpredictable even for Kenji. Though it didn’t surprise him in the least that if anyone were to push the absolute limits of what chakra could do it would be him. Ichiro had experienced teleportation before while training under Zao and had learned of the existence of specialized realms though his understanding of time manipulation was quite lacking.

Similarly, the mention of body possession fascinated him to no end. Ichiro was enthralled by the idea of any form of pseudo-immortality and desired to achieve some means of extending his own life. “Such incredible talents...though evidently the risk is high” he considered aloud. He was not opposed to taking risks though he preferred a more controlled approach, studying such jutsu on other subjects would be ideal. There was little he wished to leave to random chance though in Kenji’s case it seemed a fortunate accident that he was able to possess anyone at all though evidently detrimental to be contained to an ill-suited form. Moreover, there were clearly additional conditions and side effects or else he would have simply shifted to an adult with some chakra talents. His eyes narrowed slightly as he wondered if Kenji considered him as a host, while he wished to gain power and immortality, he would not willingly allow himself to be husked and used as a simple shell. He would need to prove his worth in other ways and learn the extent of the requirements for such a transfer should such a thought seem likely.

After explaining his own story, he vowed to serve Kenji. The young man exhaled slowly as his servitude was accepted. He would prove himself and cling to any scrap of teachings that were offered to him, doubling his resolve to train and hone his talents. Though he was only comparable to a Chunin by shinobi standards he knew he had not yet reached his potential, only plateaued due to circumstance of having to spend most of his time leading strategy councils and coordinating with researchers in the development of enhancements to the fleet. It had led to a key victory against Konoha shinobi, securing lava island for the pirate organization. Though now that the fleet had fractured and in the aftermath of the war the pirate crews would become more vulnerable to attack without the distraction of main conflicts it was no longer in his best interests to serve aboard the flagship of the Black Wake. He could finally carve some time out to pursue his own ambitions, gaining involvement in controlling his homeland of Waterfall Country, now under the banner of the mysterious realm of titans. Fortunately, he believed he could devise a way to achieve that goal while still serving Kenji. “Thank you, Kenji-sama. I will do everything I can to be of use to you” he promised. He would make the most of this tremendous opportunity and prove his worth.

The Waterfall native remained still as he kneeled before the god-like entity. He could feel the weight of the black chakra as it surged forth, crackling, and creating an air current in its wake. This was just a sensory jutsu? It seemed excessive only to discern Ichiro’s rather meager talents, he had no outstanding abilities or secrets within him; Only his ambition that would lead him to seeking the kind of power to change him into something more. Perhaps considering his origins his chakra pool and control were indicative of a fair bit of training, though it was pitifully insignificant compared to an entity such as Kenji. In truth, his companion was more impressive than he, having a family line of chakra techniques passed down and trained outside of the shinobi villages. But perhaps, it could serve to his advantage to keep some secrets to himself. Ichiro felt a moment of concern, but also intrigue as Kenji collapsed. Had his overall chakra pool been reduced to the limits of the body he inhabited? Perhaps it would only take time to acclimate it to the power now stored within. “Such an incompatible vessel, it’s unfortunate.” He agreed, slowly rising and sitting on the edge of the bed once more. He didn’t dare speculate as to what could be done to remedy the situation.

There was nothing he could suggest that Kenji wouldn’t have already considered. Instead, he would shift the attention to a matter he could provide some insight on. “As for Suzume. I lost contact with her two years ago. Her hideout in Selador Market was burned to the ground when Fire country invaded Dragon. I’m certain she made it out alive, the fire I believe to be her doing. I wasn’t made aware of the location of her fallback safehouses, protocol was that she would contact me through one of the usual means, drop points, or contacts at the main ports my ship was known to dock at. I never received any word but I know she had dealings with some here within the realm of titans. Of groups likely to be friendly to her cause they seemed the most likely. Though there is also Gold Country which did well for itself during the war though fought for territory against Suna, making it the riskier choice. I came here admittedly to see my homeland once again and get a feel for the new powers in charge but it is possible they will have some idea where she might be.” He explained. It wasn’t a solid lead by any measure but it was certainly one worth checking out and any newly established nation was one that should be closely investigated regardless.

Kenji held a hand up to his brow and rubbed his eyes as he tried to get ahold of himself again, letting his chakra reserves equal out again as he reasserted control over his body. "Haa... It is only an inconvenience. In time, i'll attain my old strength. I suppose I'm just overestimating this form." Kenji shook his head a little to fully regain his composure, and stood from the chair with a stretch. "The information I've gathered was worthwhile though, although I will admit to being somewhat disappointed. Raiton, Suiton, Iijutsu... simple uses of chakra, but I suppose it's a start. Your capabilities leave much room for growth, for one not born in a village your chakra molding powers are far beyond most. Your raw skills will suffice... Like a block of marble, I can mold you into a work of art."

The boy's powers were adequate, and Kenji could only assume that he knew how to use that sword of his. He would be a useful agent in the field. As the boy continued to speak about Suzume and his plans for the immediate future, Kenji hummed in thought... "That's disappointing... I had hoped my daughter would be easier to locate, but I suppose in the end I should be proud she's managed to disappear so effectively... Wait. Fire Country invaded who now?" So... the world had gone to war in his absence it seems. "How disappointing that I wasn't able to take advantage of these large scale political movements. The only thing I had gathered this past week, after visiting what few remaining informants I have left, was the news about this "Realm of Titans" you mentioned. If my intuition is correct, I know who is running the show... And they may know where my daughter is."

Yes, he had heard that the green haired woman who had no sense of modesty was putting some new movement together, this "realm of titans". It felt like not long ago he was analyzing her powers and prodding her about information on Vorashu, the Body Genma she claimed to be host to. "Katsu... I do believe we should pay her a visit, Ichiro. I wonder if she'll remember me... I recall she despised my unnatural scent, hmhmhm." Kenji looked for a moment to the door, then back to Ichiro, as a question crossed his mind. "...What of the woman? Clearly one of your followers, yet you keep her out of these conversations. What do you wish to do concerning her involvement moving forward?" If she was an unknowing pawn of Ichiro's, far be it from Kenji to drop the ball on that manipulation. The woman was the boy's concern, and his alone... Kenji just didn't want to ruin whatever plots the boy may already have going.

The sailor clad in blue ran a hand against his stubbled chin. It seemed even in his temporarily weakened state Kenji was still leagues above himself, what he would give to even be considered on par with a Jounin let alone a legend like Kenji. Strength was always relative, he had been first mate serving under a B-ranked MN and commanding a fleet of pirates, strongarming researchers into compliance and carving out sizable plots of land to claim as their own. And yet such feats and powers were little more than an annoying buzzing of flies to someone capable of destruction on Kenji’s scale. Ichiro had become complacent, satisfied with the influence he had attained. And now, to continue to excel he would need to dip his toes into the leagues of the true monsters of the world and find new ways to survive and grow.

He was inclined to agree however that he had enormous potential to grow and further develop his styles of Ninjutsu. There would come a time soon when he would have to think hard about what fields to focus on, less spread himself too thin. Certainly, raw ninjutsu manipulation and honing his existing talents would be his primary goals. Next would be working towards attaining a form of immortality or another unique ability through whatever means necessary. Anything Kenji would suggest or guide him toward in his pursuit of power would likewise be readily accepted and added to his training roster. Bowing his head humbly Ichiro would accept the assessment and the promise of greatness. Ichiro chuckled lightly as he recalled the happenings of the war and the scattered reports he managed to piece together. He didn’t have a complete picture of how everything occurred, but he had a strong grasp of the final outcomes. “Yes, Iwa and Suna fought over Pebble again, Suna expanded taking multiple surrounding countries. The land of Dungeons was rallied by a shinobi, a Kaguya I think, and several other nations joined his cause, plains and seas and Gold. Fire expanded aggressively, taking Rice to the east of here and Grass to the southwest, even secured slavers ravine and a portion of earth country. Had Iwa at siege for well over a year. Kumo set up positions on the frozen continent to the east, made us a little nervous in Knowledge country and Kiri somehow managed to tame Starfall island of all places and then mustered a massive force to sweep through Tea Country and Eastern Fire. All that commotion allowed my fleet to drive Konoha out of Lava island and secure the island of the Great mountain as well. Not a bad result really.” He commented. “The map has changed but the great nations keep the same friends, tensions still seem high, a few neutral countries remain, some collaborative efforts here and there but I don’t know all the details.” He explained. There were a few small details he left out such as having actually met the Kaguya in question and forming a tentative alliance with the man. Yet, still he had never been to any of his territories and could never fully trust what the future would hold.

Where his combat strength may have been lacking, Ichiro did have formidable connections and information at his disposal. Power, after all came in many forms and he hadn’t been completely idle throughout the 5-year war. He nodded again; it would be advantageous if Kenji had connections to those in charge of the land, they now resided in. The name Katsu sounded somewhat familiar but more common he had heard rumors of feats and monsters than specific names. “Yes, Sumire” he acknowledged as his companion was mentioned. “Her homeland like mine is occupied by an unknown force, she followers me because we share skills as healers but also a great curiosity about the world. As long as I keep showing her new lands and help where we can she will be loyal, even if we have to survive by less noble means. Still, she doesn’t need to know everything, it’s better that way. She won’t cause any trouble, and she can handle herself in a fight.” He explained. Hopefully, that was satisfactory, if Kenji took it upon him to question further or assess the woman’s chakra as he had his he would quickly learn how valuable she was. More than all of his contacts, Sumire was Ichiro’s greatest secret weapon and keeping her loyal and satisfied was integral to his own successes.

The husk of a child stroked his chin in thought as Ichiro explained all of the comings and goings of this 'great war' that had occurred in Kenji's absence. The information was surely to be integral to his future movements, especially having to avoid the eyes of the great villages for the time being while he was in such a weakened state. But at the same time, he wasn't overly concerned with the movements of the great five villages. "Meh. The borders may have changed slightly. This village owns this, that one owns that. It makes no difference in the end. The ever shifting tides of shinobi politics will always ebb and flow, but their movements change nothing for one of my longevity. I'll outlast them all.... Oh, speaking of outlasting, what of the village leaders? Their Kage, have they changed?" Kenji wasn't sure if Ichiro would be privy to such information, given that he wasn't actually a shinobi from one of the great villages. But still, if he had gone head to head with Konoha and won, he might know at least about the land of fire and their current Hokage. If it was still Natsuki-san, Kenji would be delighted to once more open a line of communication with the man.

At the mention of the woman, Sumire, Kenji simply nodded in understanding. "The girl is yours, not mine. I merely wanted to know what role she played in your plans, and if she would be useful or dead weight. Her movements are none of my concern, unless you make them my concern. I would advise against that." He spoke mostly in jest, but he wasn't entirely joking either; If Sumire or Ichiro made a habit of poking their nose where it didn't belong, He would have to take action to reassert dominance. "I believe our movements should be as follows: Make our way to this Realm of Titans to figure out what's going on up there. Who's in charge, what do they know, are they of use to us. The typical stuff. Then... I have a mind to finish the headquarters I had started before I went dormant. I hope you're okay with cold, Ichiro... The frozen wastes are an easily defensible position, more than adequate for a base of operations."

It was all coming back to him now... Yaseyama. The no man's land to the east of Lightning country, a desolate tundra with little to no natural resources to speak of. For the average person, a frozen death trap. But for one of Kenji's power, who could simply warp in and out as needed? The natural defenses would be key in resisting attacks, and all he'd need is a simple one way line of teleportation for retrieving necessary goods and supplies. It would be nigh impossible to even siege his headquarters, as he could acquire supplies from almost anywhere in the world using a teleportation network. Yes... a throne from which to shape the world as he saw fit. He would have his headquarters."Now, I don't wish to push you and your comrade, but I have no need for trivial human necessities like food, water or slumber. If you need rest, I suggest you do it tonight. If you'll allow me, a simple Fuuinjutsu link will allow us to communicate no matter the distance... or dimension."

Ichiro envied the confidence and certainty of the entity before him. The great five nations had caused massive shifts in the world and struck fear and instability in many regions around the world, countless homes and lives had been lost fighting to keep their territories or being caught in crossfire. Few nations had been able to remain completely neutral and only the most barren wastelands or distant lands had been able to avoid the greed and hunger for power that drove shinobi. When asked about the village leaders, Ichiro considered what he knew. He had never met any Kage before, though he had heard several of them had fought directly in the war though never against one another. “Direct conflicts between the shinobi nations were fairly limited from what I can piece together, I haven’t heard anything about any of the Kage being killed in battle or being replaced. Though, after the war I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them were ready to step back for a while” he considered. Granted, most of the Kage were known for being ferocious warriors and extremely ambitious in some way or another, only the Tsuchikage seemed truly old and likely to be tired. Though if the previous Hokage was any example, those in the land of fire seemed quick to pass over the mantle following a defeat.

Ichiro nodded as Kenji explained his stance on Sumire. Those were agreeable conditions. “She will be useful” he assured, “And you are the last person I would think to betray. I do like living, and learning and I intend to continue such pursuits” He responded, keeping his tone light but respectful. The young man nodded in agreement. It was important to be careful, perhaps now more than ever as he entered a new realm of danger. “I can’t say I like the cold but I’ve grown used to it” he accepted. Knowledge country was after all on the same continent as Yaseyama, though Ichiro had rarely ventured beyond the well insulated and heated research station on the cliffside and underground caves. The further one went inland on the great frozen continent the more perilous it became from the stories he had heard. Taking hold of the south of the continent had nearly been the worst decision he had ever made though fortunately, they had been able to find some local tribes and work out a deal with them. Alas, that land was no longer his nor Black Wake’s, fractions of their forces had split off and laid claim to such places and he had no personal desire to lay any stake in such fruitless lands. His desire was his homeland of Waterfall country. Still, if he had to spend some time in the cold once more for a greater payout down the road, that would once again be a price he was willing to pay.

The scholarly sailor considered his own limits and those of Sumire’s. “A short rest, four or five hours will be sufficient.” He decided. They had become accustomed to sleeping when necessary and pushing themselves to stay awake throughout long nights at sea in rough conditions. It would be wise however to get some rest now while they could. “Of course,” he agreed, allowing Kenji to place the seals on him. He would be very interested in studying the patterns and learning to replicate the jutsu himself. It seemed something he could easily pick up himself through a little trial and error. With that he would leave to the other room when permitted and brief Sumire on the situation and allow them both to get some rest for the next leg of their journey.

Kenji chuckled, an ominous tone to his voice as the young child-like body stood from his chair and stepped towards the young man. "Good. Betrayal is something I will not tolerate. I like to think of myself as a benevolent god, all things considered. Those who do right by me are rewarded, and those that disrespect me suffer my wrath. It would be advantageous to you to stick to the former, if knowledge be among your chief pursuits." As he spoke, he moved towards the boy and allowed his chakra to flow through him again, his hands reaching out towards the man's mouth and ear. With a bit of force, he'd press his index finger and thumb against the man's skin as his chakra flowed through his hands and into the man's body.

When Kenji retracted his fingers, there would be two incredibly small fuuinjutsu seals engraved into the man's skin. "There. Now, you need only focus on the fuuinjutsu to activate it. Thereafter, whatever you say will flow through the gap between us and be delivered directly to my ear. Likewise, I can do the same." As Kenji continued to speak, he would turn his back to Ichiro, and more chakra would gather around him. He would take a deep breath before reaching out with his bare hands and grabbing hold of... the air? For a moment, the very space in front of Kenji seemed to distort and shift unnaturally, as his black chakra gave him the power to tear the fabric of reality itself.

With a grunt of effort and a sudden pulling apart of his arms, Ichiro would watch as the entity before him ripped a hole in space. Within that hole, Ichiro would see a twisting labyrinth of unnatural proportions and impossible geometry: Kenji's realm. "The rooms are yours. I have my own abode. I'll return in six hours, I expect you to be fed, clothed and ready to leave. I do hate wasting time..." Kenji then began to step towards the rift he had created, putting a single foot through the portal, before turning his head to look at the man one last time.

"I look forward to seeing how useful you are to me, Ichiro. I expect big things from one chosen by my daughter. Don't disappoint me." With his last words hanging in the air around Ichiro, Kenji would step fully within his realm, and the portal would close and vanish behind him, leaving Ichiro completely alone once again. The oppressive aura that Kenji projected was gone, but the boy's ear would likely still be stinging from the Fuuinjutsu he was left with. A sign that all of that had really happened, that Ichiro hadn't lost his mind...

That Kenji truly had returned to this world.
