[Graded] The beginning of the end

The darkness that had grown within the youngings heart was hard to shed light on, for years she had felt that all her hard work had been neglected, and even to this day she was still baffled by all the false promises that had been brought to her. Her old mentor had warned her that the man that raised her was nothing but a snake disguised as a hero, a man that would turn the world upside down to pretend to be a hero, a man that would do his best to stay in power for as a long as possible. The Emperor or so he called himself, the man that removed the heads of state and reinstated his own leaders, a man without a leash, a man without anyone telling him what he can and can't do.

The craziest part was that even if he was removed as a Kage he would still rule as an Emperor, meaning that he would forever hold a position of power and with no one to stop him from doing whatever he pleased, he would continue until the end of time, well the time was up. His karma had come to collect in the form of his daughter, the one raised by his nemesis, the one raised to be Banri's ace in the hole if he ever stepped out of line. The council had told him not to interfere in the war with Suna as they had other plans but he chose to do as he pleased and was now causing problems for the village she had sworn to protect, the death of the Hokage did nothing to help sooth the council, that coupled with the report that Suna had caused a friendly fire situation and barely produced any ninjas to defend themselves made them want to create change, that change came in the form of Hotaru. Banri had lost it a long time ago, but his knowledge was instilled within her.

Ever since the day he had chosen to mark Kumogakure on the map and name himself the Emperor she knew that the day would come when she would come to collect. Craziest part was that the last time they had spoken was when he had accompanied her as a clone and left her to fight a Yeti, ever since then all their conversations have only been relayed orders. Hotaru knew better than to attempt to take him down on her own, she knew that she would need some serious fire power and even with Kirie and Cros on her side, things would not go down smoothly. The only one she had hoped would be able to assist them in taking down the dictator was a missing ninja that was claimed to be dead, Chiaki.

She knew that if the woman was at the level that the reports had claimed then there was no way that Cros could have killed her that easily, and the tracks that was left had gone cold a long time ago, unless you knew exactly where to look. The spy had spent months searching for any clues and when she had finally heard of a rumor that someone with what vaguely reminded them of her had crossed the border into rock country, she knew that there was no way she could confirm her wareabouts but if the reports of her giving Hanako a way of communicating with her then she knew that there was only one way to test the theory. She watched Hanako channeled chakra to into the butterfly, she had no idea what she was doing but if Hanako was given this by her then it had to mean something.

"Let's hope she truly isn't dead." Hotaru didn't look at Cros, nor Kirie but instead at Hanako as she would hopefully release the butterfly and awaited further actions.

It was a hot and rocky as mesas and hill erupted from the landscape. Hanako had found herself in the shade of a desert crag, a butterfly cupped in her hands. She was dressed for the heat, although she was still wearing the one piece leotard beneath the desert cloak and clothes. She would strip the protection from the heat off in an instant if it called for it. She was still inexperienced though her time in the land of stars had granted her so much strength, such as it was she wasn’t sure that she had been followed or not - although she had certainly had hoped to escape the notice of the land of lightning’s shinobi forces. At least for this much. She had learned that her own family history was very much complicated and that her grandmother was actually a shinobi spy in the land of lightning. To be completely honest, Hanako couldn’t even be sure that her own grandmother had been her own grandmother. Granny was a liar and Hanako knew what a trained Kunoichi could do to the mind of a child.

All of this had left Hanako feeling loneliness and despair.

Chiaki had been declared dead. She also was an enemy of Kumogakure. This meant that attempting to use the butterfly to communicate with the dead woman to confirm the truth of the matter while in the land of lightning was risking a dangerous game. Hanako would learn the truth of the matter with this small insect that she had been entrusted. She closed her eyes and activated the creature. Calling to its master - to Chiaki. She hoped that there was going to be someone to answer.

[Kanade]

The echoes of what had once been Chiaki’s thoughts rippled across the consciousness of Enkouten, Kanade. She had, not so very long ago, but before the death of the Hokage, and the start of the war between Iwagakure and Sunagakure, given Hanako a butterfly at the festival and handed her off to the Raikage. She had feared for the girl’s safety, given that they were in the middle of a festival that was guarded by samurai that even a kage would be mad to face. She wondered, then, if she should let hanako go, but to not in the face of a direct order from the Raikage was madness.

Especially since Chiaki had taken her under the pretense of it all being a mission. A mission to get stronger, a mission to work up the fighting force of the Kumogakure battalions. She had issued a warning that she would meet with anyone who threatened Hanako in a swift and brutal manner. She had hesitated when she had said it before because that wasnt’ who Chiaki was.

It was, however, who Kanade was becoming.

Dropping a house key onto the counter and pocketing its double, she stepped through a portal to the edge of lightning country, holding a stone that she had gathered from the festival that she had left lightning country in. It was on the outskirts, away from the annoyances of the Kumogakure no Sato and Lightning Country sensors. She breathed deep and remembered the spot, her butterflies swirling with agitation in all directions, searching for their friend.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve been here, it’s close to where it all began.” She hesitated and reflected on the time that she had met Cros and Maido, had changed the trajectory of her arrow so much as to end up… here.

The butterfly to the east caught the scent of its sister it was towards pebble and Chiaki tore open another hole in reality, stepped through and was jettisoned toward their location, the butterflies swarming behind her massive wings made of the hard butterfly wing scales. Her own wings brilliantly opalescent in the light as she sped toward her destination. She heard the wind whip at her hair so fast that it cooled the magmatic properties to a cool obsidian, her orange eyes flashed to the spot where Hanako was. Who was with her? It didn't matter.

She looked around, the sun bright and the day cheerful, such a bad setting for a murder. The butterflies poured out their pheromones, seeping into the whole area the awe that would penetrate to the core of anyone in the vicinity. The majority of the swarm hummed around her, agitated, their wings were stronger and sharper than shuriken. She was going to fight to the death with whoever had hurt Hanako if they were any sort of threat or if they had harmed her, and if they were very lucky, they would emerge from the fight with their lives.

The user will do a series of hand seals then place one hand on an any object small enough to fit in their grasp. Upon doing so, they will Recycle Space, creating an exact duplicate of that object. The duplicate of said object will act as an Anchor, turning both objects into links to each other. Should any party aside from the Architect come in contact with either anchor, they’ll be instantly transported to the other Anchor either a) they elect to or b) their control is less than the control of the Architect. The Architect can opt to use the Anchor at any point as well, should they so choose.

Uroko Style • Butterfly Flight
A-Ranked Scale Jutsu
After performing the correct hand seals, the user will expel a large set of wings from their backs at [control] speed. They can also reinforce wings from the *Uroko Style • Wings of Freedom jutsu to act as these wings instantaneously. They will be able to move at [control] speed with these wings for up to 8 posts. These wings have strength equal to the user's [control], and can be used, by use of a Kai seal and extra chakra to form a cocoon of [scales] with 2 layers of [control] strength. The cocoon erupts in a cloud of scales when struck in a cloud of 80 meters, applying the scale passive to any who touch it.

Butterfly Pheromones • Releaser pheromone: Awe
S-Rank butterfly pheromone jutsu
The butterflies that Chiaki controls release pheromones that travel at [synch] speed from their bodies, up to 30 meters from their main mass. These pheromones have no physical substance, but travel around corners, in cracks, and fill the available space. If the subject(s) breathe these in, they have a behavioral response to the Primer Pheromone to engage Chiaki with Awe, disabling their ability to engage in combat. This feeling of awe can be counteracted if a subject has a [willpower] equal to the [synch] used for this technique. This attaches to the first thought that the person has, and validates it however they are able. If they are unable to counteract the strong feeling of awe, they will not attempt to engage Chiaki in a fight, but will respond appropriately depending upon their characteristics.

The kinslayer of the clouds rolled her eyes and waited impatiently. It had been a long week and her journey through the empire had been tiring. She was getting older now and it was certainly beginning to catch up to her. Her long silver her was partially put up and she sat with her left leg crossed over the right with a rather bored expression across her face. They were searching for Chiaki, whom Cros was confident she had killed, but supposedly had somehow managed to weasel out of the shipwreck alive. Cros didn't see how it was possible, though she did entertain the idea. If Chiaki had indeed managed to escape, she wondered exactly how she might have pulled it off.

She supposed teleportation wasn't entirely out of the question these days, their were more and more shinobi delving into the ridiculous sorts of arts after all. How unfortunate then that Cros might have to finish her task, but then it seemed like an east wind was coming. A great change, a rising of arms. Something was coming for the lightning empire, something that had been brewing and steeping for a while. Politics? Cros laughed in their faces. The higher ups didn't care about her so long as she was doing what she was told. Why wouldn't she take out a high value target if she was asked to? Did it matter who it really was? Orders were orders.

Still, this particular target was of a different caliber and Cros couldn't help but feel that perhaps maybe she was a little in over her head. "You're wasting your time. I doubt she survived, it would have taken a miracle."

Kaisui thought back to that morning as he trudged through the rocky landscape of Pebble country. Hotaru was lucky Kaisui was still in the area. He'd received an anonymous letter that simply read do you want to be free of the leash. Nothing more was written no meet up location. Not that Kaisui needed it. He simply needed to follow the bird. He hadn't realized it at first but the bird had followed him from port to port. He was nearly certain it was how Hotaru had kept tabs on him all this time.

Waking up early, he'd found and read the note slipped under his door. It irked him when the ghost did shit like this coming and going without notice. Not to mention it broke their usual meet up safeguards. He stood up and got dressed and took a peek behind him at the lovely lass still asleep in the bed. Yet another woman he'd have on his mind going forward. Though rumored to be a lecher, Kaisui remembered every woman he'd ever been with. He found connection in physical intimacy, a sense of belonging he had long been denied. He stroked her cheek one last time before tucking her in proper. He left a small fortune in ryo on top of a note saying he'd be back to visit someday. Hopefully she spent it wisely but it was all he could do. As much as he wanted to settle down, dryland could never truly be home.

Stepping outside a gull landed on his shoulder and gently pecked at his noggin. Try as he might the bird continued to land on him and peck till it got his attention. Looking at the bird he realized he was too far inland for this type of bird. Having his attention the bird flew off. However, as he went to head back to the sea the bird returned and once more pestered him till he followed it. The situation continued like this regardless of how fast he chased the bird he was never fast enough to catch it and yet every time he went to abandon the trail it'd return and pester him.

Thus returning to his current circumstances. Following a bird to gods know where within pebble country on dryland where he was at a perpetual handicap. Dangerous is what is was and for a moment Kaisui pondered if the deal was up and he was being led like pigs to the slaughter. Then his situation dawned on him and remembered that Hotaru had no need to play him like this. Even if she was setting him up as a scapegoat there wouldn't need to lead him somewhere when she could lead them directly to him. "God damn ghost. Quit leading me on a god damn goose chase. I swear one of these day's I will get a straight answer out of you "

Hotaru knew that both Cros and Kirie doubted that Chiaki had survived, much less could thrive after what she had done to her."If Cros got to her then there is no way she survived, she is known as the Kinslayer, the one and only." Kirie didn't like to speak about her Ishiguro past, especially after she had been induced into Black Ops, but she still knew who this legendary ninja was and tried to make sure that Hotaru didn't disrespect her, which the super spy picked up on, she nodded but still kept her eyes forward.

"Kaisui should arrive soon."

She was a woman of few words but a master of timing, right around the time the wind began to change in their vacinity, Kaisui would make his grand appearance, he would appear on a hill to their right, again, all planned out, as Chiaki or what appeared to be an Enkouten made its appearance. Hotaru's eyes narrowed as she picked up on the pharemones that had been dropped by the butterflies but was powerless to stop herself feeling inspired, she was fawning over this new person, which made no sense whatsoever.

Genjutsu? No... It can't be, when would she have had the time to cast it? Why can't I control my emotions!? WHAT IS GOING ON!! Hotaru fell to her knees and began to bow down in front of the Enkouten. WHY AM I NOT IN CONTROL OF MY EMOTIONS!?!? The frustrated spy continued to fall for the pheromone trap, this was not good, she had come to give Chiaki her true freedom but she had been cast under a spell that would cause irrevesible damage, for the spy did not like when she wasn't in control, this would definately cause untold consequences in the future as it had now been implanted in her mind that Chiaki had the ability to change the way she thought of people.

Kaisui had been called for a different reason but him seeing Hotaru like this would certainly confirm that whatever was said here on out could be retold to her, which again would cause the super spy to start scheming, not a good way to start a relationship. "I can't believe what I am seeing, such beauty, such grace. The peak form of mankind stands before us." Kirie who stood further behind with Cros, was disgusted by the sight, her hands had already formed the seals to cancel any attempt of attack before Hanako had released the butterfly, would pop up from behind cover and shoot out a denjiton pulse that cleared the pheromones as the two chakra based attacks cancelled each other out.

"What the hell did I... What was that?" Hotaru shook her head, she frowned and looked over at Chiaki who for some reason had placed her under some sort of spell. Was it because she was scared? Or did she deliberately attempt to attack us? This wasn't the start of the meeting she wanted, now she doubted if she had made the right choice but in order to continue with her plans, she swallowed her pride, for now.

"Everybody calm down, we are not here to fight. We are here to discuss an important matter, a secretive matter that will forever alter our futures."

Hanako had become aware of all the other presences that were suddenly turning up. Hotaru didn’t seem to make a single move at their sudden arrival, so she probably was expecting them. She hadn’t discussed the reason for trying to summon the Kyoukan here but a sliver of worry began to steep in her heart as she realized that these people who she didn’t know, and this person who she had accompanied was also someone she barely knew. Had she summoned Chiaki into a trap? It was starting to look that way. ”Who are all these people?” Hanako had demanded. ”You were just using me to get to her… weren’t you?” Hanako’s eyes fell in disappointment and disgust. She hated the feeling, and she recognized that things would need to change somehow. Her eyes had been opened again at the way the Shinobi played their games, and she disliked it. No, it wasn’t the game that she disliked. It was the feeling of being used. Of being a pawn in someone else’s gameboard.

She had let this go on for most of her life - Granny had used her, and even the Raikage and now this Hotaru. Chiaki had never expected anything out of Hanako. It had only ever been that Chiaki was looking out for Hanako’s interest. Had Chiaki been able to see through the web of lies that had been her grandmother’s life? The fact that her history in the town of Hanamura may not have even been real, and Hanako had been used as a pawn to get into the land of lightning undetected? Had Chiaki detected the lies in Hanako’s own backstory and known that Hanako had been ignorant of them?

She had genuinely liked her time in the land of stars. There had been a sense of freedom there, and Chiaki and her had some adventures. She missed those times now, although it seemed to Hanako that they couldn’t have been that long ago, could it?

As the girl stood with a frown on her face, a shadow fell over her. She was in an instant on her guard, a hand reaching for a kunai before she paused. There was a change in the atmosphere. Was the air… Heavier? It was if the air itself was charged with an electric presence that she couldn’t identify. Her bandaged fingers danced on the rings of her kunai as she raised her gaze to meet the unfamiliar, and yet familiar.

It was a face she hadn’t seen before - but those wings and the butterflies resembled those of Chiaki’s. Hanako didn’t know who this dark-skinned woman was, but how she seemed to descend in the sunlight filled Hanako with a sense of awe. Her trembling fingers fell limp as she couldn’t help but stare. She was… a beauty. Thats right, it made sense that Chiaki would have had to hide herself - after all, she was supposed to be dead! A wave of Denjiton style flooded the area and caused the chakra in the pheromones to dissipate. Hanako came back to her senses and looked over at Hotaru. She too was returning to her senses and was telling everyone to calm down. Hanako could only feel a sense of hope at the presence of this woman. The Awe had left and now only hope that this was the Chiaki that she had known. There were some strange things about this woman though- her body was different than Chiaki.

Chiaki had been made of rubber, but Hanako could tell immediately that the body of this woman was…something else. Less compliant. Strong bones defined her features instead of a sense of fashion. The muscles that built this body encouraged her to move in ways that Chiaki hadn’t. Yet there were some familiar gestures that Hanako recognized - it was enough to give her pause. This woman wasn’t Chiaki. Yet she had Chiaki’s butterflies, and had responded to Chiaki’s technique. Maybe it could be Chiaki? A disguise? No - that didn’t make sense - Hanako could tell that the movements weren’t one of disguise - there was structure there. She was going in circles in her head now. She grabbed her head as if to make it stop spinning in circles.

”Are you… Chiaki?”

[Kanade]

Kanade flew to the edge of the Denjiton and stopped a few meters from the edge. It was strong to cancel out the pheromones of the Butterflies. Best to just let that go then. She made a signal and the butterflies stopped channeling, still flitting about her, their wings humming like steel knives on the wind, they were agitated and so was she.

Her agitation stopped short when she analyzed Hanako. She wasn't tied, she wasn't in danger, she wasn't being used as far as she knew. So why was Chiaki, the dead woman, summoned?

Kanade ran a hand through her magmatic hair, spray from the molten earth at the tips flitted out and cooled almost instantly into obsidian beads that clattered on the ground in their black glass form. She looked at the gathered people, recognizing only two of them, the pirate and Hanako. She cleared her throat, taking up a defensive stance, her hands ready to make seals should the need call for it.

"I'm Enkouten, Kanade." She said slowly, her voice was different from Chiaki's, her demeanor and her body were different. She had made the mental distinction that when Thabisa, the body's previous owner, had given her life for Chiaki and for her other clan members, that she would leave Chiaki behind. Old habits die hard. She had tried to pick up the pieces with her friends, and start new relationships with them, but it was already too soon after the transition to have told much of anyone about this new body, much less work out how to use the Youton powers that the clan had hidden away. Thabisa's leftover memories surged through her on how to use the element, but so far, she was only able to manifest them as Doton.

This being neither here nor there she moved on from those thoughts to the question at hand, "Chiaki died in my arms, she was killed by a spirit. She passed on her 'essence' to me when she died." She wasn't lying about that either, it was basically that which brought her here, "I have a deep feeling of responsibility and love for you, Hanako-chan." Her gaze softened as she spoke to Hanako, "But why use the butterfly if you weren't in trouble?"

Eyes narrowed and hands ready for a fight she appraised the person in front of her. She had never seen them before, and wondered whether or not this had been a trap. After all, Hanako was a ninja from the village hidden in the clouds. The Raikage had fought against Iwagakure forces, and whether he had meant to or not he had killed one of their soldiers. They weren't at open war, but close enough to it for Kanade to be ready to teleport back to where she had come from and wash her hands of all of this if the next words weren't spoken very carefully.

She looked over to where the others were and Cros was there. A cold sweat broke out between her shoulder blades, her eyes widened like a frightened deer and it was all that she could do to not bolt right then and there. She had to remind herself, constantly, that she still had her butterfly wings jutsu going and could bolt faster than they could attack at this range. She backed up a good twenty meters upward and backward from the whole group, feeling more and more like this was a trap. "Why did you summon me here? Seems like a strange place for an ambush, the neutral country of Pebble."

Eventually, slowly, Cros the Ishiguro rose from her seated position and her long silver hair flopped down along her shoulders. As her sandals clacked against the ground, the normally calm and composed Kinslayer's face was rather red at the moment with...anger? Denjiton chakra surged her body like lightning, crackles of dull grey energy reverberating out of her very eyes as she walked hypnotically towards the others. Her eyes caught them, but Cros was silent as she took it all in. Her mind was already racing. Sure she had given it thought before, but to actually carry out the deed?

A strategy would have to be in order. Her mind raced with the possibilities. Perhaps she would consult the elders for guidance. Surely at some point they had given thought to the matter. Cros stepped forwards and took in Chiaki's new form and though she listened to the words she wasn't entirely sure if she believed it but as the woman spoke Cros just... Cros knew. She just knew. She wasn't really sure how she could tell, but immediately, instantaneously, Cros' heart wept. Denjiton and tears spilled from her eyes recklessly as she stared at Chiaki, her face contorting as she fought off the impulsive and horrible sensation of crying but failed. Her mind was splintered. Cros was so, so relieved that Chiaki was alive. She had never wanted to do it. Noone wants to take out their student. Noone wants to have to turn on their own.

Cros' programming was hard. As she saw Chiaki, her first impulse admittedly was to strike. She instinctively surged with denjiton and dispelled it throughout her own body, as though she were about to neutralize the area. She didn't even think about it, it hadn't even been a conscious thought. But the lessons were too deep, they couldn't be undone. "No." Cros said suddenly rather loudly, as though she were scolding someone the rest of them couldn't see. Cros stepped forward and stared at Chiaki. "I'm sorry. It's... My... Duty..." Was all she could make out as she violently fought her bodies compulsion to kill Chiaki with tears and snot accumulating on her face.

As Kaisui peeked the hill a number of people came into view one of which was his god damn spectre. He went to call out but his voice caught in his throat as he watched Hotaru fall to her knee. He'd be worried if it wasn't for the look of utter joy that plastered her face, and that of those around her. He slowly made his way over only picking up speed when a massive blast of denjiton chakra went off.

As he arrived before the gathered folk the giant would stare dumbstruck at the view before him. A grown woman, no a seasoned shinobi, was balling her eyes out as snot dripped from her nose whilst she pleaded to a stranger with fiery hair. "Ghost! What in Davy Jone's Locker did you drag me into this time, eh? This is well beyond the standard terms of our arrangement. I didn even 'ave time ta grab my cook. You betta 'ave a good reason fer makin' me miss breakfast yah?" the giant groaned out his complaints his deep voice seemingly out of place for the situation

The pirate captain looked on at the people before him utterly perplexed. He couldn't tell if he was called over to fight or for a parley. Sure he was big and many may find him intimidating, but he was out of his element; a fish out of water. To add insult to injury shortly after he finished speaking about breakfast his stomach roared in protest. He shook his head and rubbed his belly whilst his one eye glanced around. "What? I did say I missed breakfast didn I? Man my size needs a proper meal to function is all."

Noisy, they were all far too noisy, hectic and chaotic for her liking. First Hanako with her visible questioning, when Hotaru could've killed her a long time ago and called forth Chiaki, or Kanade as this creature in front of them called herself, then came Kaisui, who clearly seemed to forget that Hotaru was the one that held the leash over him and not vice versa, considering that this was supposed to be his ticked out of here, she expected him to at least behave as such.

Then came Cros, the Kinslayer, the one she expected to act the most professional out of the gathering, to her surprise Kirie was the only one that seemed to understand the assignment, her eyes darted back towards Kanade as she started to float away, she ignored Kaisui for now as it was a tad bit weird that he couldn't read the room.

Hotaru took a deep breath and let her commanding voice take charge. "Stand down Cros!

I have gathered you all here to give all of you a proposition of a life time, we all have the same issues running through our lives. The Raikage, Nakajima, Hayate. The man who reveers himself as the hero of the world, a God! The bane of all of our lives, the one who sent you to kill your student (Cros), the one who attacked you while you grieved (Chiaki), the one who sent me to kill you (Kaisui) and the one that forced you home (Hanako). All of us have grievences with the emperor yet none of us can do anything about this on our own. But... Together we can destroy him and forever alter the future of Kumogakure!

to you, Hanako, I will grant you the freedom of going free, same as for you Kaisui. To you, Kanade, I will allow you to be with your... Daughter... and you Cros... I will make you grant you the possibility to do whatver you please, even become the new leader, if that's what you want." Hotaru looked over at the party, then back at Kanade, "Had things gone differently then maybe... Maybe I could've prevented whatever that is, but for now, we can call it truce. Though I think we could still work something out with Iwagakure no Sato, if we get the chance to once the head of Kumo is gone.

I want to rewind the clock and remove the entire emperor system, reinstate the old daimyo family and hide Kumogakure from the world, shift allies and make sure that the pirates stay off our tracking list once and for all. After that, we all pretend like this meeting never happened and we all go about our lives. That or we forget everything now and go back to being slaves under his boot." The last part was directed at Hanako, Kaisui, Cros, Kirie and herself, as the only one that truly managed to escape his claws was Chiaki, but it seems that it came at a heavy price, the removal of her original body, that is, if this truly was Chiaki.

As Enkouten, Kanade explained her situation Hanako couldn’t help but take her at face value. She bowed her head and nodded. She had only been convinced to come here to meet Chiaki. Without Chiaki here this was all pointless. ”It was good to meet you Enkouten, Kanade. I’m glad you were there for Chiaki in her final moments.” Hanako looked at the other people, who in her opinion shouldn’t have been invited to this. This is part of what made her feel used. She re-sealed the butterfly then without saying anything else she left. It didn’t matter if no one had meant her any physical harm. It was just emotional harm, and that was the kind that you couldn’t heal with a jutsu. It was in the middle of Hotaru’s speech when she began to take her leave. She didn’t care who ruled Kumogakure, or any of the other villages. She had just wanted to be with Chiaki, and for Chiaki alone would she have fought the Raikage and betrayed her own home? Was Kumogakure even her home? She didn’t feel anything for the people there. Why should she risk her life and free Kumogakure of a tyrant? She also didn't know these people, but they were likely the same kind of people who had used her and Chiaki, and Hanako just didn't have the energy for it. She didn't need Hotaru to grant her freedom.

Hanako felt more lonely than she ever had been in her entire life. No friends, No Chiaki, just people who wanted her as a tool - and while she may have been happy with that before, her time with Chiaki had opened her up to be more than just a blind weapon that does whatever her superiors ordered. What had Hanako been fighting for? Nothing. Nothing Nothing. Hanako wasn’t heading anywhere in particular but ultimately it didn’t matter. Just somewhere away from Kumo and away from Pebble.

Perhaps the sea? What did the rest of the world hold? Maybe she would see just how far did the ocean go.

Kanade kept backing up, putting another ten meters between her and the party, now a solid distance she felt she could get away from pretty much anything she channeled chakra and pressed the back of her neck where she had the mind communion fuuin which she had put back there after her transferral into this body. It glowed and she spoke directly to Hanako's mind, 'If you're truly Hanako, you should be able to hear this. I am Chiaki, but I am in a different body. The body's previous owner gave her life for me, and now I am part of the Enkouten clan, or at least I am on a trial for it.' She stayed silent, not wanting to make any sudden movements. Cros was saying that it was her duty, and she wondered whether or not Hotaru and the others would still strike. She continued to Hanako, 'are you in trouble, are these people keeping you prisoner? Should we escape?'

She cleared her throat, speaking audibly now, "I'm listening." It was a short sentence to tell them that she wasn't going to bolt, yet, and that she was willing to listen to the terms. She wasn't on the best of terms with Hayate, and now that she had made an appearance there, he knew at least that Chiaki's 'essence' had been passed onto the other people of Iwagakure no Sato. It meant that she was now a threat, so she felt like she needed to listen to make sure that she didn't have to look over her shoulder.

After she had just escaped from all of this, had started a new life, she put her foot right into it again. What was wrong with her? Was she really this impulsive? But no- if Hanako had been, was, in danger... No she would have made the decision no matter if Hanako had done this 3 days from their last parting or 100 years after.
