Taiga sat perched in front of the gates to what seemed to be a junk yard. His visit to the sandy lands of Sunagakure had thus far been quite boring. He had been looking forward to having quite a bit of fun- especially for having a duel with the Kazekage but much to his chagrin, the Kazekage had been unavailable since they Konohagakure ninja had arrived. Something in regards to that had been quite odd. Regardless, Taiga would find more ways to entertain himself. His ability allowed him to take control of things he had morphed into- a side-effect of his Genma and his own unique talents. He had never really done it with things not of nature, but today he was interested in playing with some trash.

He also figured that one man's trash was another man's key to finding out the culture and way that man thought.

Call it a learning experience. Clearing his throat the Chuunin made his way towards the wall of the dump then seamlessly phased through it til he found himself in front of mountains of sand. Of course, underneath each mountain of sand sat the trash. Striking a pose he lunged forward, the wind off his body releasing with his punch as it hit the first pile, the sand scattering it off and revealing part of the pile. A somewhat dirty-looking magazine was in the pile.

Chuckling to himself he grabbed it, rolled it up, and slipped it through his belt.

"Keep that one for later."

Just what treasures would he find today?

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the peaceful village of Sunagakure Gene could be found perusing through one of many books he'd come across while roaming the aisles of a library open to the public. In it, he'd learned much about Sunagakure's genesis and the reasoning behind the village being secured by what was undoubtedly a large Earthen wall despite being quite literally in the middle of a desert. If that weren't shocking enough of a revelation, Gene had also learned that Sunagakure for all its focus on peculiars and the like, was the first village in known history to have crowned a Female Shinobi as its Kage. Considering briefly the women back home in his own village, the young man couldn't help but acquire a newfound respect for Suna and its council---whoever they might be, for setting nontraditional norms along with what he believed, were necessary barriers to limit the amount of outside influence upon the nation's structure.

He read about the Kazekage past and present who's stories all in some way spoke to the young man's more empathetic side; especially the 8th Kazekage of whom Gene could never have known personally, but respected all the more for the latter's combating of a rogue Shinobi as many even back in his homeland were trained to do. All in all, he wondered why he'd never thought to ask Zao about the dealings of his society before but ultimately chalked it up to inexperience, immaturity and lack of interest---all of which seemed to be cured with time. Unfortunately, Zao seemed to be missing in action.

It was strange...having come to the land of wind several times with one event in particular being a celebration to the newly crowned Kazekage, Gene could not recall meeting any of the standing Suna Shinobi of note aside from the lone Space/time manipulator. He wondered where they'd all gotten off to..

It did not take too long for the young Sarutobi to find some more interesting things. Deeper digging through some piles had found some particularly peculiar objects: limbs. Contrary to your dismay reader, these limbs were not gross but were rather prosthetics of sort. From what he could tell the outside was like the material plates and dishes in Konoha were made from and the inside used both wood and rubber. The initials "HHM" were etched into it.

Deciding to find out more about Taiga entered his form. Before he knew it, his head disappeared in a cloak of smoke, his wings wrapping around his body like a black cloak. Reaching out he put the tips of his finger into the arm. He could feel it- it was definitely ceramic. Digging in deeper his fingers hit something hard- it was the wood he could see from the chipped areas. He needed to focus slightly more to phase two types of materials at once, but he did so.

On the inside, he moved his fingers around. There was a tickling sensation- he assumed there was gears or minute pieces of machinery inside the arm to help it move. Having inspected enough he decided to switch gears.

Literally, he spun one. The arm quickly bent to a 90 degree angle and a blade emerged- completely un-expecting of such he very narrowly dodged the blade, which clattered to the ground behind him.

Dropping the arm, he went to look at what looked like a smaller kunai, with a purple covering on the tip of the blade.

"Wonder what that is..."

This is...this is incredible! The thought had almost come bursting out of Gene's mouth when his eyes ran across words on a page filled to the brim with historical Sunagakure knowledge. Of those around who could see his growing excitement, some began to wonder just exactly what it was that the man had been reading but most dared not venture up closer for fear of being seen as rude - all in all, with each new thing that the Cloud Gazer learned about his mother nation's oldest ally it seemed as though he would never grow tired of the age old books and tales recounting Sunagakure's earliest experiences.

However...it wasn't until he reached a critical section detailing the work of puppetry and poison as an ancient art that Gene's mind began to wonder. Here is a village with many secrets and many reasons to keep those secrets...I wonder what else this place has to offer. It seemed that while he was busy with page upon page of new knowledge on various topics ; Taiga, had been quite literally hitting the dirt - both discovering interesting things about their cousin village. Although...Gene could have done without the woman snoring three tables down from where he'd been trying to conduct his study.

Tch! Can't she keep it down?! It sounds like fighting Gorillas over there!

Taiga was nearly ready to touch the tip of the blade when a voice ached in his head.

No it's poison you fool! the voice shouted so loudly that Taiga winced. Sukairaa had indeed more wisdom than the happy-go-lucky boy, and indeed was probably right. Taiga quickly withdrew his hand, deciding a look from afar was fine... when then he had a better idea. Touching the non-purple part of the kunai, his body went rigid until it was completely steel. If he could not be cut or the poison could not be absorbed- he would not be effected after all. Grinning ear to ear, he touched the poison to confirm his thoughts.

Don't you little shi- Sukairaa began to chastise. Taiga threw himself to the ground and began writhing. "Ahh-sdwd gurgvfiguorg" he gurgled strange sounds. He was looking to have some fun with the old "wise" demon inside him, but his antics were quickly cut short.

I know it didn't effect you you little shit. We share the same body, remember?

Standing back up and brushing the sand off, Taiga looked around.

"Well at least I know poison can't effect us if we do that." he said grinning ear to ear.
