[Graded][Kazekage Coronation] Desert Oasis

Post by ShinobiTruth » Fri Nov 01, 2019 10:42 pm

Sueatsu awoke.

A simple action sometimes could carry so much weight. It wasn't Sueatsu, leader of Sunagakure no Sato that rose up from his simple bed, bathed himself, and dressed in ceremonial robes. It wasn't Sueatsu, the Eleventh Kazekage that took his breakfast, arrived early to the administration building and gave directions and instructions for the final time. It wasn't Sueatsu, the absolute authority and incarnation of the Sun's Light that attended patiently to the litany of things both small and large that had to be done for today's coronation. That person had died in the area constructed on the Plateau naught a week ago.

This was simply Sueatsu, Monk of Shizuru. Sueatsu, child of the sand, worshipper of the Sun and one who deeply loved the village called Sunagakure no Sato. The closing moments of the reign of the Eleventh Kazekage were close at hand. He imagined that many of the other Shadows before him may have felt a great sense of contradiction, perhaps a small amount of uncertainty, at the end of their reign. It certainly made sense. It was not as if Sueatsu was an old man. He was 36 years old, a much younger age than most would need to be considered retired. The wounds that had been dealt to him during that inevitable battle had already healed, nary a scratch or scar on his person. He could still stand. He could still fight. He could still lead. Yet, none of these thoughts even dared cross his mind. His shoulders were a bit more relaxed than they'd been for years. The release of tension in his muscles and in his mind, the need for constant vigilance now a few brief hours away from their completion. In a word, Sueatsu felt...

Ready. It was time.

The word had spread through the village like wildfire. Early in the morning, even before sunrise, merchants were beginning to prepare their wares and stalls for the influx of both native villagers and the rumored visitors from their friends in the Leaf coming to visit for the coronation of the new Kazekage. Before sunrise, the most devoted of the elderly had staked out their place to watch the proceedings, the younger members of the village giving the aged ones the space they sought, showing their progenitors the deference expected of such a devout culture. People of all creed and color, from every corner of the village, arrived right and early to secure as good of a viewing spot as possible for Kiyori's ascent as the Wind Shadow of their village.

Per Sueatsu's instructions, Rizue was escorted from juvenile detention and led to a secured roof not far from Kiyori's balcony. Though he would be barred from joining in the festivities, he could not deny his pacifist friend the blessing of seeing what else aside from the title her ferocious battle had won. Had Sueatsu been victorious, the boy's life would have been forfeit. Because of the strength of her convictions, the boy might have a second lease on life, so long as he made proper use of the gifts given to him.

All of the clan leaders would await Kiyori on the balcony, standing respectfully to the side. Even the Kouseki, likely still in the throes of righteous indignation, did not show such callous disrespect as to not be in attendance, their clan's leader stoic and silent in his observation of the proceedings. Their relationship with the Kazekage-elect was strained, at best, but for now, their fealty to the village was greater than their own self-interest. Side by side, they and the Council awaited the commencement of the official ceremony. The Shuudoushi Remnant, in the best show of regality they could muster, also had a representative standing amongst them. Truly, this coronation was a unifying moment. It was not without its hidden controversy, but for a single day, all would be united in the hope and optimism that came with the rise of a new leader.

There were still several hours before the festivities began in full. Those invited by the nascent Kazekage herself from the Leaf, as well as others from within the village, would have time to finish their duties and make it to the main square in time to attend.

It still felt like a dream.

At any moment over the past few days Kiyori felt like she would blink, wake up, and realize everything was all in her head. The meeting with the council, the fight with Sueatsu, her being declared the twelfth Kazekage of the sand village. All of it, just a figment of her imagination. But as she rose with the rising sun and went through her morning rituals, dressed herself in her usual attire, donned her ruby flame necklace, and set to eating a small breakfast, she came once more to the same conclusion she had come to every day this week... It wasn't a dream. Every bit of her life for the last few days had been real. She, Kiyori Henrin, Jounin of Sunagakure no Sato, was to be donned in the official garb of the Sand village's Wind Shadow.

She was to become Taiyou no Kagayaki; The Sun's Radiance.

She slipped through the streets and jumped over the rooftops, blazing a trail through Sunagakure as she made her way to the Kage building. Once there, to avoid all the crowds, she'd try to slip in through a window or something. After all, the last thing she wanted was to be crowded before the ceremony even began. As she arrived, she was escorted through the building to the Kazekage's office, where she would meet with those preparing the ceremony. "Good morning to you all." She greeted everyone she could see in the Kazekage's office, and was then guided to a small side room that would allow her to prepare herself. In this room were the robes... those robes that everyone in the village knew by sight, the white threads contrasted by green with the symbol of Sunagakure threaded into the back. And the hat had already been altered too, the Kanji for '12' on the front in green thread. This was her attire now... she donned it with haste, taking a moment to look at herself in the mirror.

It was a sight she never actually thought she would see. She had wanted this for years, but to actually attain it was something else entirely. Her nerves were all aflutter, her heart racing, as her anxiety was through the roof. But then, out of habit, she reached up for her necklace and pulled it out from under the robes, allowing it to dangle in plain view. It was the only accessory that was different from a typical Kazekage's attire, the one small thing that she wore that no other Kazekage had... It was her personal trinket, from her greatest love. I've done it Emi... We've done it. Somehow, seeing that necklace just made everything better. Her anxiety melted away and she strode out of the room to the organizers in the Kage chamber.

"I'm ready. Give me the rundown." She said with a grin. In a few minutes, everything would begin.

In the man square, a youthful-looking white-haired scholar was slowly walking through the crowd, having recently recovered fully from his last endeavor with Li and their adventure to Juu no Kuni. It had honestly been weighing upon the man's mind about the severity of the effects that were cast down upon his friend because of their actions. At least they had survived, he sighed a bit to himself as he looked up at the bright blue sky as the sun shown down with its warming rays on the shinobi's lightly tanned skin. He had a rather important duty as he moved to the designated coronation area, it was still a couple hours before things were to official kick off and he needed to prepare something to assist some friends in joining in the festivities now.

As he approached, the man smiled and nodded gently at a few of the others who were keeping people out of designated area that was reserved for specially invited guest as he moved. After arriving there he took a seat on the ground pulling out a small jar of ink with his quill before he began to trace out a complex looking fuuin diagram onto the stone's smooth surface. This specific seal was known as a 'Destination Marker', the seal was completed in a few minutes despite the complicated markings that went into the seal. With a smile he waved towards one of the workers and spoke out to them in the man's typical soft spoken voice, "I must go greet some guest, be right back."

With just that single sentence the man gave a little laugh before standing up now and looking out towards the eastern sky, lifting his hand up just in front of his face the man concentrated Space-Time chakra into just that hand before reaching out to the very fabric of space and time before him. Then with what seemed like a smile wave of his hand the very space in front of him was twisted and ultimately torn asunder before a two meter tall portal appeared before him. With his normal warm smile the bright blue eyed figure smoothed out the wrinkles that where in his formal robe and stepped through the event horizon causing the portal to close behind him. He was off to fetch a few friend...he should make it back just in time for the ceremony to begin...at least he thought so.

[Kazekage Coronation] Desert Oasis

Nori walked into the main square where everyone was gathering after hearing news of their new Kage and the coronation that was to occur, his giant size causing people to jump out of the way as if he was some unblockable, black clad mountain that no one wished to be flattened by even though he truly would never hurt any of his fellows.
"Ugh... Wait up..." Haruto squealed in a rather lacking manner as he trailed behind his new mentor.

Opposite to the giant was a short mouse of a kid who had to squirm and manoeuvre his way through the crowd unable to keep up with Norio in any way and in fact almost losing him despite how tall he was. The sad looking strawberry blond was still not used to working with the newly promoted Jounin and made no effort to hold back his sighs as he lazily pushed through, making his way back to the man's side.
"You must forge your way through, assert your presence and let people step aside like I" Nori commented to the boy as if it was a simple truth and a matter of confidence.
"Says the MASSIVE GIANT of a man" Haruto complained, putting emphasis on the man's size.

However the sandy haired male simply shook his head, still not believing he somehow got himself into a situation where he was looking after such a loathsome kid or that he actually let himself be convinced into his rank up into a Jounin.
That being said the two arrived in full and began to look around as they awaited their newly appointed Kazekage to appeared, which was actually filling Nori with a bit of pride and joy as it seemed like the situation with Hito and how Sueatsu was basically only filling in was quite the weight on the man's heart as it felt like they had no true leader to look to but now they where finally getting a new chosen.
"Finally... May the light shine true over Sunagakure no Sato once more" Nori quietly muttered to himself in a kind of prayer-like fashion, feeling like this coronation was truly needed and that a real Kazekage would prove to be the guidance they all desperately needed.

It was almost time for the coronation of another Kazekage and Rika, the young Chuunin having been very eager to help out with the festivities in some manner, was currently busy running around the village greeting guests and making sure that everyone was properly taken care of and seated while any troublemakers were ejected from the ceremony grounds. Frankly it was exhausting work but it made her happy to get to be able to help out with such an important affair.

"Let's see... our guests from Konoha should be arriving any minute now. I should go check on the VIP area and make sure that everything there is up to snuff..." she muttered to herself, having received explicit instruction to make sure that their foreign guests were welcome as could be, especially given that the Hokage and his family would likely be among them. And with that in mind she took a quick look around to make sure that everything was currently in order and let out a sigh before heading towards her next destination. Hopefully this would be a success...
Meanwhile back in Konoha, Masami had gathered outside the gates with Aina's family plus Saigo, to her surprise not only having been invited but as well, having been included as part of the family and thus being a VIP. Frankly she was over the moon about such a thing and her joy only increased as to her vast delight it had quickly been revealed that she wouldn't be having to travel through the desert again, the group instead being picked up by means of Space/Time, their carrier being a man she was already familiar with as he had greeted the group when she had visited Suna with Fanho and Taiga, that being one Saisuko Zao.

Soon enough the tell-tale ripple of Space/Time emerged, along with the man himself, and after greetings had been exchanged they were off, arriving at their destination in the blink of an eye.

Teleporting was a really strange feeling, Masami herself having to take a moment to orient herself upon arrival. "Not sure if I ever want to do that again. Certainly beats walking though. I can't stand the heat of the desert." she muttered, taking a moment to look around at the village square where they had landed, marveling at how much busier and alive it seemed to be than the last time she had come. "I had heard the Kazekage was a big deal but this is something else. There's an entirely different air about the place." she said, really just a bit awed.

It seemed like this was certainly going to be a pretty great time.

Souta had become so accustomed to being visible as Sakaki's Sensei that it had taken a bit of time to adjust back into the old role. He stood in the shadows with his back against a wall, arms crossed and his cloak over him. The hood was pulled up to hide his facial features as he kept his eyes on the gathering crowd. In addition to his two Genma hosts in the village Souta and his team had been warned of at least one that would be visiting as well. This meant not only was his team needed for possible crowd control, but in case 'shit hit the fan' per se. As far as Souta knew of the visiting jinch the precautions were unnecessary, but in such an event where a new leader was being named, no precaution was ever considered unnecessary.

Somewhere in the shadows of a rooftop Rokuro also sat, hidden by his own cloak and away from prying eyes. Strolling through the crowd somewhere was Naegi Kaede, the third member of Souta's genma handler team and also the youngest of them. It was her turn to walk through the crowds with no mask and no cloak, smiling as if she were just another member of the crowd. The sun shone off her white hair and her bright eyes looked all around for new sights within the crowd. Tossing an apple up in the air and catching it again, over and over, the woman wore her usual outfit that bared her midriff and left her without heavy layers in the sun. "So far so good..." she muttered, words caught into the fuuin that would take her words to both Rokuro and Souta.

"I don't know who thought this was a good idea but-"

"Our new Kazekage did, the same woman you called a 'gash' back during that Star Country event which I'm pretty sure she still feels she owes you for. Do you want to already add insubordination to that?" Souta interrupted, quite, but clearly stern in his words.

Rokuro didn't verbally respond, despite Kaede's giggle.

The Hokage had gathered outside the gates of Konoha with his family; Wife Hyuuga Aina and four children: Yozei, Hanako, Takeshi and Kaori. He wore his formal Kage robes and hat, the red and white contrasting nicely and the symbols for 17 written on his back. Two of his children bore the white eyes of the Hyuuga clan and the other two had blue eyes much like his own. The young twins were just shy of four years old now with his eldest children aged 15 and 16 and both holding the rank of Chunin. Accompanying the group was the Jinchuuriki and close family friend Inuzuka Masami as well as the S-ranked shinobi Saigo who had officially been recognized as a shinobi of Konoha now. He was renowned for his medical prowess and having personally delievered the twins, likely saving Aina's life in the process.

Arrangement has been made for a reputable shinobi of Suna named Zao to come pick them up. He has visited Konoha previously and been allowed to mark a teleportation seal for his personal use near the gates of the village. There were too of course plans to establish a stronger shinobi presence in one of the nearby trading towns and utilize space-time on a larger and more frequent scale for trading or supplying emergency reinforcements between Suna and Konoha. Space-time rippled nearby and right on time the youthful looking man with white hair and flowing robes appeared before the Konoha shinobi.

After a warm greeting the group of them would be teleported directly into the square where the celebrations were taking place. This was of course a rare exception against normal protocol which established there to be no direct teleportation into either village, ensuring proper screening and checking in to the village was maintained. Having approved each individual for travel beforehand with Sueatsu and Zao it seemed unlikely the new Kazekage would object to such an exception, especially given the close friendship shared between her and both Takeo and Aina.

Takeo would hold Kaori in his arms and Aina holding Takeshi as the group teleported, the others keeping in tight formation. Suddenly they would arrive and the children would marvel at the sudden shift though perhaps feel a little disoriented. Of the group only Yozei had actually been to Suna before, "Wow, that sure beats travelling 3 days in a caravan. Was the worst part of the trip last time I was here" he stated, looking around as he noticed how many people were gathered about. It seemed a little odd to him to stand amongst the crowd, even a bastard of nobility was used to being elevated in a pavillion or balcony of some sort even if he was to normally stay in the back where he couldn't be seen.

Takeo himself didn't much care for formalities or too much attention drawn to him. It was more to his liking to arrive quietly and without any ceremonious greeting. Despite wearing his robes as a statement of official support from Konoha he prefered a more personal touch to politics and would be happy to spend some more quality time with his friend as well as discuss the future of their villages once these ceremonies settled down a little. Nonetheless he was overjoyed to have the opportunity to witness Kiyori's corronoation while he was still Hokage. "I'm just glad we can all be here to see this" Takeo responded to his son. He couldn't think of a better person for the position both for furthering Suna's interests as well as working together with Konoha to keep their alliance strong and productive.

As the portal opened up now, even before the man's shining blue eyes could see the other side he was able to feel the humid air from his destination seeping into the opening that was increasing in size until it was as tall as it creator now. He'd traversed an incredible distance in only a few moments really, normally he would have never been allowed to teleport directly into the village but with special permissions being granted by the village and the Hokage himself, this one exception had been made which Zao was thankful for. As he stepped through he couldn't help but glance around having not had the opportunity to return to the Leaf village in a number of months, enjoying the differences between his home village and the one he now stood within.

Adjusting his gaze forward he say the group of people standing before him, the majority of which he'd personally met before, this causing a gentle smile to grace the thin lips of the long white haired man as his hands came together in a respectful martial salute to the group as a whole. "Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to assist in your travels to my home." His voice was soft and warm, as though he was more closely related to a scholar or monk than to that of his title of shinobi as his loose robes flowed as he stepped forward to greet them. After his initial welcoming he would address the Hokage and his wife directly as a demonstration of the level of respect that he held for both of them. "Lord Hokage and Miss Aina."He gave a gentle body of his head to each of them before allowing his hands to uncup and casually relax to either side now.

"Is this everyone?" With the normal greetings out of the way and some small talk between the Suna-nin and the Leaf shinobi group it was time to depart and he only asked a simple question to determine if they were waiting on anyone else to join the group. After that he asked that everyone to hold hands or ensure that they were physically touching so that he could bring the group in its entirety in one trip. Something that was a bit taxing, not like bringing just himself or maybe a single additional person. One he was given the go ahead from Takeo he formed a series of hand seals as his body flowed with soft blue chakra that became visible to the naked eye, turning to the group his eyes even seemed to glow with chakra illuminating their natural blue color before he reached out to touch the person nearest to him. "Let us be off."

As he touched the nearest person his chakra flowed over each of the individuals within the group, encompassing them in his chakra suddenly their space around them began to twist and contort as the man closed his eyes in that moment in order to focus on his marking seal within the village. To those who were watching they would see the group appear to contort and spiral in on a center point between Zao and the group, one moment they were there and in the next they had vanished from sight as space returned to normal. Within the village, on the marker left earlier by Zao, the space violent twisted before it expanded revealing the group standing upon their special VIP area which was set up just for the visitors. Those who had never traveled in this manner would feel a bit disoriented of course but the feeling would pass and they wouldn't have any lasting side effects to deal with after that. "Welcome to Sunagakure no Sato, my friends."

Speaking in the same, gentle voice as before the thin framed man gave another final bow of respect to the group before lifting his left arm and motioning towards the coronation area and the seating that was already established for them. Bidding them farewell for the moment he moved back to another seating area leaving the group of Konoha-nin to their own affairs as each of them awaiting the beginning of the event now.

Saigo had bid his family a good bye, a parting kiss for his wife and child before he'd left. Staying close by, he was ready when the Hokage was ready to depart with his family and other VIPs as they headed towards the gates of Konoha. Once there they waited only a short time before a man appeared and answered a silent question the Doctor had about their means for travel. Saigo pulled his scarf up like a hood around his head, his mask in place over his face as he wanted to avoid any undo concerns from citizenry or Suna shinobi with his mere presence. As the group touched one another they all watched the air ripple before being whisked away to Sunagakure where the younger members of their party stared in awe at the sudden change. Saigo on the other hand suppressed a groan as he felt the heat wash over him.

"Like walking into a sauna on full blast." He quietly remarked while sticking close to Takeo and Aina. Still, he didn't waste anytime looking around the place they arrived in, taking in the sights of what he could see. He'd heard things about Sunagakure, but he'd never been there for obvious reasons. Plus the place was so damn hard to find from what he recalled, trekking around a desert in search of it before coming to Konoha never seemed like his idea of fun. Still, a village with the most advanced medical practices and the like? Definitely a place he wanted to poke around if given a chance. "Takeo... I don't suppose we'd have time to poke around a hospital or some such, would we?"

The Doctor asked from behind his mask, looking rather mysterious now with the identity obscuring effects in place. "I know we're here for Kiyori and all, but I can't help but wonder what makes their medical practices so renowned." Saigo seemed to have a bit of a glimmer in his eyes from behind the mask, a strange sight to behold as he barely had this kind of excitement except in the privacy of his own home. Of course, he wondered how Kiyori had grown since last he saw her in Konoha. It would be an interesting thing to be present for his friend's Kage coronation.

Several kunoichi turned as soon as Kiyori entered the atrium to the balcony overlooking the central square. Rushing to her side, they made certain to double-check that her robes were smooth, well-kept, and pristine. The council turned and looked to face her. It didn't seem that there were many more words to be shared between them before it was time. Instead, while in the foyer, as she greeted each one, they simply offered a last piece of advice.

Abe began, giving a respectful nod to their new leader and a handshake if Kiyori was so inclined. "We are grateful that this day is upon us, Kazekage-sama. Remember, please, the lesson you learned at the beginning of your trial. A thoughtful nature will serve you well and help you overcome trials that may otherwise seem insurmountable. Should you have me, it will be a privilege to serve the village at your side," he offered sagely, a wide smile on his face.

Kaifu came next, giving a salute. "It seems that I am the fire to Abe's water. He speaks truly, Kazekage-sama, but do not forget that thoughtfulness taken to an extreme is dangerous and will cause you to lack confidence in your choices. Do not deny your instinct and sharp intellect a say in your decisions. There may be times where decisions must be made soundly. Your knowledge will do you little if you do not regularly exercise it through wisdom."

Naoto gave a stiff bow. Though they both knew he was not Kiyori's favorite person, he did not neglect his duty. She might even find some knowledge from this man who likely had a short future in her administration. "Remember, Kazekage-sama, that in the end, the choices you make for the village must be firm, swift, and final. The people see you as deity-incarnate. A people will not suffer a leader when they are ineffectual or lackadaisical in their choices. You must be decisive in all that you do. Once you've made the choice, allow no one to deter you."

Akihito took Kiyori's hand and bowed deeply. "The Sun has blessed us with another to carry her light as its avatar," he praised, his eyes alight with hope. "Though your servant has been rigid at times in his ways, Kazekage-sama, his love for the Sun and her children has never waned. Please, let Her wisdom remain within you, and always be mindful of the caution needed for the darkness we must carry for the protection of this blessed place. It is your greatest privilege... and your greatest burden."

Manza saluted. "Kazekage-sama, you inherit both the blessings and the curses of the previous Chosen's village. Do not forget what we discussed. You have the power to make great change, for the better or the worse. Use it for the better. Do not forget that the village and its people are both a gem to be protected and a powerful resource to be harnessed. If you lead, they will follow."

Jamba offered a simple bow, straightening his glasses. "Much of what I had to say to you was already spoken a week past, Kazekage-sama. We both know that the merchants of this village can be a powerful engine of progress," he reminded her. "Give them a path to follow toward that progress, and even if it's in the spirit of self-interest, your consideration could compel them to show the same consideration for their fellow villagers."

Yoshiko too bowed. "The Children of the Desert are a pious people, Kazekage-sama, as you are all too aware," she stated. "Their traditions, both old and new, are precious to them, and they will seek a leader who will honor those ways. You have the difficult challenge of balancing that need with the inevitable requirement for change and progress. Though they may resist at first, if you are true to your principles, they will respect and follow you. Do not shed your morality, even when doing so may seem to be the best choice. It is what connects you so closely to Her Light."

Mio hugged the Henrin. As one of the oldest and the most doting of the council, this was likely no surprise to Kiyori. "Oh, you'll do great! I'm so proud of you. Never forget your humility. It is what makes you most approachable as a leader. A staunch proud leader is difficult to reach. A humble one is always there when they're needed, no matter how lowly the need to task."

Finally, Sueatsu turned and walked to the balcony, the rest of the council doing the same. The Hokage would be present as well with his family and VIP. Kiyori, however, was detained. It seemed there was still one final piece of counsel left to give. Whatever he had to say would likely come in his speech. At the sight of him, all sound in the village seemed to disappear. His speech started simple:

"Hello. Many of you have seen me, up until now, as your Kazekage. Though it was in the light of a great tragedy in our village, her Grace deemed me worthy to represent her in this imperfect world. In my years, I have been blessed and humbled to stand as your leader, your protector... and your friend. In those years, we've seen much change. We've forged a new alliance, stronger than it's ever been before, with our dear friends and allies of the Leaf, who have come in a display of solidarity and support that the Children of the Desert truly cherish. We've seen wonderful growth and advancement in our village as our skilled craftsman, traders, and merchants have helped open us up to the world at large. We've seen exciting new goods, services, and ideas enter into our home, and though not all were without controversy, we have been made a better, more whole people because of them. And in turn, we have been able to share some of our knowledge with others, bettering their lives as well. We have changed as a people, I believe, for the better. But progress does not end with a path of a few steps. No, we must strive onward."

His hair blew in the calm desert breeze as he continued. "At times, progress can be frightening. We may at times question the choices we've made when we come upon unanticipated consequences. Our history as a secluded people is not without reason, and we cannot cast off those bonds so easily. But we can do it. And today, we have proof that this is possible. As many of you are already aware, my time as the one who would represent Her Light has ended. In her unending wisdom, she has found another more worthy than I to lead you all into the future. Many of you already know her. She has been instrumental in the friendships that have been created both within this village and outside of it. Instead of the spear of war, she has fought and won battles and wars with the branch of peace. In her pursuit of unity with those who are different than us, she has come to show that though we hail from different lands and different cultures, humanity has a shared bond. We all walk under the Light of her Grace. And even in the face of obstinate despair, of overwhelming strength, she has proven herself greater than those things. She has proven that she has the conviction to lead you all, a beacon of hope to break through both sunlight and the darkness of storms. A more powerful, compassionate, and worthy leader I've never had the privilege of meeting. Are you ready to meet her?!"

The crowds of the village burst into uproarious applause. Pivoting his body to one side, he gave Kiyori space to stand and meet her people for the first time as their new leader. "As my last act as the Wind Shadow, I present to you the Sun's Radiance, the Twelfth Kazekage, Henrin Kiyori!"

The applause grew even louder, the excitement spilling over into pure reverie. The joy was so palpable that it was almost as if it could be felt in the air. There would no doubt be parties, dancing, music, absolute celebration following this small ceremony. But first, it was clear what her people wanted from their knew leader.

They wanted a speech.

Kiyori was once again taken aback by the sudden flood of assistants ensuring that her attire was properly worn and folded, wiping away every wrinkle to give her the presence of a leader. She looked around the room at all who had gathered, including the entire council, Sueatsu, the clan leaders on the balcony... and in the corner, as she expected, was Arata. And he was... well dressed for once? "Heh... You clean up nice, Arata." was all she had the chance to say really, before she was being ushered towards the council members by the assistants.

She would meet each council members greeting in kind, shaking Abe's hand, saluting Kaifu, bowing to Naoto and Akihito, saluting Manza, bowing to Jamba and Yoshiko, and finally concluding with a deep hug with Mio, bringing a warm smile to Kiyori's face. Once each was done giving their advice to her, she would nod to them all in kind. "Words can't express my gratitude, to each and every one of you. Your trials helped me to truly realize who I am, and what I want for this village... What I can do for this village. I think, despite any differences we may have as individuals, my mark on our people will be a lasting one celebrated for centuries." It was a simple and short show of gratitude, but she expected that the people of the village would expect a speech from her... she was saving herself for that.

And sure enough, first Sueatsu would go out on the balcony, giving a great speech to the people below. Her people, now. Well, they had always been her people, she shrugged and chuckled as the thought entered her mind, an assistant raising an eyebrow as she did so. She was so honored by the man's words, the way he spoke of Kiyori with such reverence and pride, showering her with praise after praise of every manner of positive description of who and what she was. Truth be told, she was having a hard time coming up with what she would say herself, as he had said it all so well himself. But finally he concluded, hyping up the people who stood below, waiting to behold their new leader... Waiting to behold her.

As the gesture was made, Kiyori smiled, took a big breath, and shot one more look at Arata as she walked out into the sunlight, to the roar of the crowd below. Her necklace dangled in front of her, glinting brilliantly in the sunlight as Her Light shone down on she and the people of Suna. She could do nothing but smile and hold her hands to the crowd, arms open as if awaiting to embrace them all in some kind of hug. The light of the Sun warmed her face, and what little of her body's visible tattoos began to glow with fervor, as if the sun itself was charging her with it's warming rays. As the applause went on, her eyes scanned the crowd before her, catching a few faces that she distinctly knew. Of those faces, she could see Souta and his crew running security, the white haired Zao, little Rika Hizashi, and of course the Konoha VIPs including her friends Aina and Takeo, their family, the fusion Jinchuuriki Masami, and even the doctor himself; Takamori, Saigo. His invitation was contested at first, but the woman knew the doctor personally... she would trust him, as Konoha trusted him.

And this wasn't counting the hundreds, if not thousands, of civilians who were praising her. Finally she would raise a hand, and as if she truly had the powers of a god, the crowd fell silent. It was as she expected; they wanted her to speak... And speak she would.

"People of Sunagakure, esteemed guests of the Leaf Village, friends and family alike... All of you, listen well to my words. For these words are far stronger than any fist, blade or jutsu. These words have struck accords with the nomadic tribes of the Wind Country. These words have strengthened our relationship with our allies in the Leaf. These words have ended brutal conflicts before they began, they've calmed the embers of war before they spread into an uncontrollable inferno. I have made it no secret that I despise violence for the sake of violence, I seek a world where our conflicts can be resolved with compromise and agreement, not might and pain. Many would call me a fool for such notions, an idealist with no sense of reality. Maybe... Or maybe I simply see what they do not. Maybe I see our similarities instead of our differences. I see our strengths instead of our weaknesses. I see the individual, and yet I also see the crowd, the village, the country. We are all united under Her Light, each and every one of us are touched by the rays of divinity. Why should we quarrel over our differences when it is that brilliance which connects us all?"

Her peaceful ways were not unknown to most, but now there could be no denying them; the village would know of her desire for peace... but they would also understand that she was ready for the worst. "With that said... There are those who will oppose such a change. Those who desire war. And I am not blind to that. I will ensure that you are all kept safe from the warmongers of the world, and that they are dealt with decisively. I will offer the branch of peace to all in one hand, but I hold that spear in my other if ever the need arises. The future of Sunagakure, I hope, will be one of great prosperity for both ourselves and our allies of Konohagakure. In fact, I want to take a moment to bless our allies, for their presence here is telling of what the future will hold; less isolation, more alliances, and more widespread joy brought on by us, those who are guided by Her Light. I may be your Kazekage, and I have a great vision of our future... But I am only one woman, people of Sunagakure. I cannot fulfill these ambitions alone."

Kiyori's voice rose in tone, her presence of leadership emanating from her across the people of her village. "So what say you, brave children of the sands and allies of the leaf? Will you help me lead our village into the future? Will you assist me in progressing into the modern age while maintaining our virtues and cultures? Will you fight for peace throughout the world? Will you follow me!?" The people's voices soared in a sundering cry of glory as Kiyori roused them, raising her hands to the skies, to the sun above. In the heat of the moment, she even removed her hat, that her people might see her not as a god or a Kazekage, but as a human being just like them.

"I am Henrin Kiyori: Juunidaime Kazekage, Taiyou no Kagayaki! I will make this world a better place, for all those who reside within it! I swear this on my honor!"

There were still several minutes to go until the Ceremony officially began and Rika was growing steadily more tired as she ran around and seated yet another family, calming a crying child in the process. "So far so good... Though who knew this village had so many people in it to take care of." she muttered to herself, letting out a sigh. The kage's job certainly wasn't an easy one, but that was what people like her, despite her own low rank, were here for, to take care of all the minute details while they focused on bigger things.

It was at that moment that she noticed a ripple in space coming from the VIP area, a sigh of relief escaping her as the Konoha group appeared, their guide, the man known as Saisuko Zao, standing by their side. "They've arrived just in time. Kiyori... Sama would surely have been disappointed had they been late. And I as well, with how difficult that was to get set up. Not to mention all the ruffians I had to chase away." she said to herself, wrinkling her nose at the sound of herself referring to Kiyori as 'Sama.' That would certainly be something to get used to.. and she surely would over time, but for now there was still work to be done.
Meanwhile Masami had just gotten her bearings straight after that teleportation session and was currently looking around at the group's surroundings, noting the extra care that had been put into making sure they were comfortable. "Well well, no expenses spared for important guests, eh?" she said, looking out over the hot, sandy village. "Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would get to visit Suna not just once but twice. It would surely be nice if visits like this could continue, and perhaps a bit more often at that." she softly spoke, looking up towards the balcony where Kiyori would surely soon emerge and officially be crowned as the new Kazekage.
And then the balcony doors opened and out stepped first Sueatsu, giving a speech of his own and introducing the new Kazekage, the woman herself stepping out soon after, everyone stopping what they were doing to watch and listen, Rika and Masami both among them, Kiyori's speech resonating with them both, both girls finding themselves smiling and nodding along. True peace had seemed like a far off dream but maybe, just maybe it was within their grasp if they fought hard enough. And it seemed that the people of both villages seemed to be united in both heart and mind at the thought of such possibilities as a rallying cry came forth from the massive crowd, for once it truly seeming as if maybe, just maybe the thought of such a world wasn't a silly dream.

"Takeo, can we really do it? Is such peace really attainable?" At the conclusion of the speech, Masami turned towards the Hokage, wondering what he thought of Kiyori's speech and the possibilities it brought forth. "Though, even if it's just a dream for now, I want to do everything I can to help work towards it so that maybe one day, we can all truly live in harmony."

As Fanho watched from atop of the rooftops his hands tucked in his pockets he could see Kiyori standing atop the balcony waving as she delivered her speech. Fanho sighed as he face palmed returning to a sitting position among the roof sticking his tongue out at the new Kazekage. "I was supposed to become Kage first..." The young man rolled his eyes playfully as he grinned from atop. "But old man Takeo won't give it up so easily." As Fanho's thoughts drifted he felt like peace in the world was one step closer and attainable. From the allies in the east to the allies in the west. The shinobi trio could theoretically bring peace into the region rather than an illusion of non-aggression. He could only assume what the future would hold, but he hoped it was for the best.

You'll make a fine Kazekage, Kiyori.

Takeo chuckled lightly at Saigo’s comments, “I could get used to the heat, better than my ventures to Frost Country that’s for sure” he assessed, opening his arms and closing his eyes for a moment and embracing the warmth and the sudden rush of new scents and sounds. This village, these were his trusted allies and today his dear friend would take up leadership over them. Together they would achieve great things, finally true progress and unity. As they were led to a VIP area Yozei smiled and nodded in approval, this was more like it. “If we can teleport like this I’d visit at least once a month” Yozei agreed to Masami’s statements. The Hokage turned to look at the Doctor after thanking Zao and bidding him farewell. “After the ceremony, certainly. I’m sure Yoshiko, the head of their medical staff would have much to discuss with you, a mutually beneficial learning experience” he assured. Of course as Hokage he was familiar with the names of Suna’s important figures even if he hadn’t spoken to most of them directly. He was aware however that Fanho had recently had a meeting with the council, warming them up and testing the waters for the talks Takeo hoped to have with Kiyori shortly after the ceremony. He had met personally with each of the two previous Kazekage on multiple occasions and wished to continue to build upon the foundations that had been laid out between their thriving partnership.

As Kiyori’s speech was made Takeo stood at the balcony of their VIP section in clear view of the area Kiyori was presenting from. Their eyes would meet briefly, and he would smile proudly. They were equal leaders now, the power for change was in their hands and he had no doubt that together they would push forward the many plans that had been discussed with Hito though stalled in the tenuous years of Sueatsu’s reign. Trade had continued to thrive of course and military support between one another was never in question however the teleportation systems and expansion of the libraries for public access throughout Fire Country, Whirlpool, Tea and other regions of amicable relationship with Suna and Konoha had yet to be properly established. There was also the matter of making introductions between Kiyori and Konoha’s newest allies of Kumo, led by the Raikage Nakijima Hayate. Their railway construction was already well underway, and he hoped to bring Suna into an alliance between the three, at the very least in terms of trade and joint projects that would benefit the average citizen and encourage immigration and tourism.

The new Kazekage’s speech resonated very strongly with his own ideals. Peace, alliances and benefits for the average citizen but also strength and caution. Readiness to fight and defend one’s values was essential, and Takeo sought to strengthen his alliances for the sake of protecting the interests they were each working toward. The Hokage would clap loudly in support of Kiyori, his hands booming together like thunder and roaring over the crowd. The young children covered their ears though cheered their own support for their beloved ‘aunt’ and Yozei beamed with a great smile as he clapped and cheered excitedly. Kiyori had the leaf’s full support.

As the cheering began to die down somewhat Masami approached the current Hokage and Takeo looked to the young woman he considered a cousin. “I believe with Kiyori’s progressive ideals that we’ll be able to form a triple alliance with the cloud, I’m optimistic that we’ll be able to grow into a close relationship. Hayate is a good man, he cares about the people as Kiyori and I do and I believe that whatever differences our three villages have we can learn to respect them and focus instead on our similarities” he explained genuinely believing his words and optimistic about that future. But of course, there was always a catch, always something that made true peace a difficult notion. “My concerns lie with Kirigakure mostly, their new Mizukage Kasai is not a man that can be reasoned with. I saw it in his match with Kiyori at Star Country. He attacked with overwhelming force and never relented or stopped to reconsider his approach, when Kiyori tried to speak to him he ignored her, intent only on destruction and even attacking with killing intent in a supposedly friendly match. I have no doubt he will try to sabotage the unity between Leaf, Sand and Cloud and perhaps even directly provoke war. We must stand firm and remain wary, though not allow a wedge to form between our allies. More than ever we need to develop a relationship of military support with Kumo and have that extend to Suna as well. If we can defend our borders and our joint projects, act together and keep level heads we may be able to avoid a full-scale war. Iwagakure surely supports Kiri out of necessity, for they will also be threatened by our unity. It is my hope that we may be able to seek out the Tsuchikage and their council directly, a small group of Bannin from Konoha and Suna to attempt peace talks with the stone. If we can keep them out of the fight, work something out we can all benefit from then even the Mizukage with all of his power will be unable to take us all on and his aggressions will be overcome with minimal casualties.” Takeo explained thoughtfully. As always he was honest and upfront in his thoughts, optimistic towards strengthening alliances but also realistic and prepared for the nature of those who sought only power and destruction.

Arata grinned as he saw Kiyori in the full robes. "Even a coyote can find a creek to bathe in once in awhile." he joked as she referred to him being well dressed. Of course a few assistants tried to usher her away, but first Arata reached over and slid an arm around the woman's waist to pull her to him for a deep, albeit quick, kiss. Smirking he dipped his head forward to whisper in her ear. "And tonight I can say I get to fuck divinity so why wouldn't I dress up for the occasion?" He couldn't help a laugh as he swore he saw the urge to slap him cross Kiyori's features, and instead received a playful smack in the shoulder. He released her, grinning like a fool as she was finally ushered away and one of the assistants shot him a nasty glare. He followed her as she gave her respects to each council member, earning a disapproving look from at least half of them as he remained by her side.

As she would eventually step on the balcony for her speech he remained behind her, just barely out of sight in order to allow her to maintain the professionalism of her new station. For all his jokes and perverse jabs, some things even Arata knew not to do. When she would inevitably come off the balcony of course he'd sweep an arm around her waist once more. "I'm proud of you, my Lady Kazekage." he told her, grinning as he kissed her briefly.

'Can you just not?'

Souta remained in the darkened overhang of an alley as he watched the speech, resisting the urge to clap as it completed of course. His job was to stay hidden. His eyes scanned the crowd yet again, taking special note of their visitors from Konoha as he kept an eye out for danger. "If you try to get near the Konoha Jinch, remember, she can smell you, Kaede. You may as well introduce yourself." he reminded his Naegi teammate, hearing her huff across the fuuin seals. "Things looking good up above Rokuro?"

"Fine, though some Konoha dork is blocking my view." came the intentionally loud reply. The masked man was looking at Fanho an eyebrow raised a moment before he went back to scanning the crowd from his shadows.

"Play nice, Rok."

Kaede herself had weaseled her way through the crowd for the most part, eventually ending up in the VIP area in time to overhear an exchange between Takeo and Saigo. "No need for that, I can always show you. No sense bothering that stuffy woman." she said rather happily from behind them, grinning as she bowed respectfully to them. "Naegi Kaede." she said, introducing herself.

"Kaede, don't forget the favor."

Kaede immediately rolled her eyes before turning to Masami... and flicking one of the Jinch's ears lightly. "Sorry, Souta-Sama asked me to." she said with a light blush. "He is my team leader, I'm the team medic myself." she said, smiling in turn at each member of the Konoha group that she could make eye contact with.

The words from the woman were powerful, resonating in the man's heart but he still held some doubts about the true possibilities of the outcome which her and Takeo wished to achieve. Peace between the nations would be truly a difficult feat for anyone to be able to pull off and he knew that Kiri and Iwa were both wild cards in this matter. Though he'd heard that Konoha and Kumo were both on good terms for not it seemed with the rise of Hayate as Kage, Zao had never personally dealt with anyone from Kumo nor been part of any talks between his homeland and Lightning country. Perhaps that would be a task for himself and others in the higher echelon of shinobi for Suna to venture forth and investigate.

As he words came to a close finally and the roars of the crowd echoed throughout the village the man simply smiled, these types of things were truly not his kind of scene. His hands came together in prayer hands as he bowed his head gently in the direction of Kiyori, the new Kazekage and leader of their homeland. The scholarly man looked forward to what the future would hold now as his bright blue eyes glanced over towards the broad shoulder Hokage and the entourage that had come with him to welcome the newest Kage. How would things turn out? Zao felt like their was so much that needed to be accomplished in the near future....closing his eyes and exhaling slowly he felt the wiggle of each of his spirit plants on either forearm and wrist now. "Yes, our future does look bright my friends. I'm excited to see where this will take us next..."

Saigo nodded as Takeo seemed agreeably to the Doctor's desire to glimpse Suna's medical facilities. He shifted his head as he heard another voice speak up. This person had snuck up behind them but Saigo wasn't truly looking for threats in all honesty. He assumed that a village like Suna would take priority to care for any and all VIPs during the ceremony. If something went wrong, he could easily defend Takeo should the need arise, but he assumed his need in terms of protection were minimal given that Kages were as powerful as Bannin, if not more so. Still, he felt that in this place, Takeo was escorting him rather than the other way around, but he didn't linger on the thought of it for too long as he gave a nod of his head to the Naegi. "Saigo." He said, leaving his last name out of it in case it set off any alarms.

"Well, if you're a medic, then you should be just as capable of showing me what makes Suna's medical facilities so advanced." Saigo announced to Kaede as he over heard her mention of being a medic. Shifting his attention back to the speech, he listened to what Kiyori was saying before he frowned behind his mask. Peace for all was a lofty goal, even with a plan and ideals to support you. Just fixing the damage he'd done for his reputation as the 'Mad Doctor' took years of work to accomplish and even then he was certain that nickname wouldn't fade from peoples minds anytime soon. Of course that was just one man. How much would it take to fix the gaps between the villages? To mend fences in countries torn apart by civil war? Feuding lords don't just have a change of heart overnight. This was a goal that Kiyori might not even accomplish in her lifetime. He resisted the urge to shake his head as her speech came to an end as he quietly sighed behind the spiral patterned mask on his face.

"Don't bite off more than you can chew." He quietly muttered to himself, his words addressed more for Kiyori than anything else. Still, he knew she might not hear her and he was certain the mask muffled it enough with the roar of the crowd now drowning out such quiet words. Looking out over the crowd, he couldn't help but wonder what a world of peace would look like.

Masami tilted her head in contemplation as she considered Takeo's explanation before ultimately shrugging, though smiling all the same. She had no real understanding of politics and even the details of their newly found friendship with Kumo hadn't been made entirely clear to her. Nonetheless she could tell that Takeo firmly meant every word that he had spoken and she would fight to hopefully do her part in paving the way towards true peace. "I don't entirely get it but I'll keep working hard to do my part. We'll all get strong enough that Iwa and Kiri won't even dare wage war." she said, her nose and ears twitching as she sensed someone approaching, and quick at that. The presence smelled of plants and the outdoors, almost like the members of their own Senju clan, but still somehow different, like they closely intermingled themselves with plant life. It was an odd thing for her to sense out here for sure, but it wasn't unpleasant, very much the opposite in fact.

Still though, even if she could sense someone approaching she couldn't sense that one of her ears were about to be flicked, the woman letting out a surprised yelp as she jumped up into the air, quickly shaking her head as she turned to face the new arrival. "Please, don't do that." she whined with a pout and a frown, very clearly unhappy. And while she remained so even after the revelation, she did realize that she had gotten upset at the wrong person. Even if she had performed the action, she had simply been doing as she was told and really Masami couldn't fault her for that.

"Oh, I'm sorry for getting whiny. I'm Inuzuka Masami, though you may already be aware." she said, giving a n introductory bow to the Naegi.

Once introductions had been made she let out a quiet sigh. "That's twice now he's got me by surprise and this time he didn't even come do it himself. I am so going to get him back one of these days." she muttered, moving to the front of the balcony and scanning the crowd below, eyes, nose, and ears all turned up to full blast as she kept watch. It was clear that she meant business. "Alright, where are you Souta?"

Surely, surely he was around here somewhere... But where?

Master and student stood ready for their new Kage when they noticed the ripple of space-time not too far ahead of them in the VIP area, of which their well known friend Zao leapt out of with a whole crew of important Konoha members. Just looking at the people teleportation in gave Nori a small twinge of a headache as he recalled how disorienting it was to travel in such fashion, even now he still could not get one hundred percent with it and always had a small sense of dizziness though it at least cleared up rather quick.

"Those guys are from Konoha yeah?" Haruto asked, actually being curious about such an appearance
"Yes it would appear so, I believe that man is the Hokage given those robes" Nori gave a straightforward reply, pointing out the stocky, strong looking figure in what was undoubtedly Kage robes not unlike what the Kazekage wore for such ceremonies and would surely even wear for this one.
"Must be nice to get such express speed travel" Haruto then lamented, wishing he could just lazily move about with such ease.
Norio simply shook his head and looked up as commotion began to spread throughout the crowd and soon morphed into cheers as the previous Kazekage finally stepped out to present the new.

Sueatsu still looked pretty grand even if Nori was never sure of him and so too was his speech as he went on about progress and how he was only worthy in passing before finally introducing Kiyori, who then gave her own speech on peace which she hoped to extend across the world which sounded quite noble and something the black clad giant wished for though he was not totally against enacting it forcibly where the had to if it was in the name of divine punishment.

Once the speeches where done everyone began cheering loudly with wild claps, though Nori give a small menacing glare over to Haruto to make sure he was also joining in even if the boy's enthusiasm was a little lacking making his own claps seem kind of weak and frail.
"With the Kazekage forging a path forwards for us, so too must we forge our own path" the sandy haired man then spoke up as the cheers died down a bit "That means we must get you past your troubles - we must find that spark hidden within you" he pushed on, blocking an interruption from the redhead as he turned to him, using this as an opportunity to inspire him if even a little though the lad simply sighed and rolled his eyes at the thought.

The Hizashi still hadn't really opened up with anything that got him like this at all, nothing about his friend injured by his own stupid mistake in jutsu training and nothing about he seemed lost in a coma in a slow continuous medical jutsu that he wasn't even sure was good enough to fix him. It all still felt so pointless as if his friend could never recover despite all of Suna's medical knowledge and if he did he did not know what he could ever say to him.

The Hokage smiled softly at Masami’s pledge, he had a feeling they would need all the strength they could get in the years to come. He was inclined to believe that deterrence alone wouldn’t be enough, that they would have to fight and counterstrike with overwhelming force and coordination in order to truly suppress any threat posed by Kiri and Iwa. As they currently stood, he wasn’t sure if that was possible. Still, he would attempt the gentle approach first, though always he was prepared and grounded for the reality that many lives would be lost. It was the reason he believed his time was not yet over, Fanho had power and charisma but he still seemed to naively believe there could be true peace, a united alliance between all 5 shinobi nations and perhaps even among many minor countries as well. Such a notion seemed impossible to Takeo. He knew well the mindsets of those who worked to undermine others. He was a former ANBU commander after all, there would always be those who had their own reasons for disrupting alliances. Grudges that ran deep, notions of greed and power or simply those who enjoyed conflict. He would suppress these thoughts as a young Suna shinobi appeared, standing back and simply observing the interactions.

Yozei had listened to his father’s words with a sense of unease. From what he had seen and experienced both in Fur Country and the Land of Stars it seemed possible. Both Iwa and Kiri shinobi seemed rather aggressive and hostile towards Suna and Konoha especially. He would have to do his part to, grow stronger still. Though he didn’t feel he was ready to take a life, he knew though that if it came down to it, he would. He didn’t have much choice, the dark side within would take over if he hesitated. Yet even that wouldn’t be enough if he had to fight someone like Kotaru or that Kiri Jinchuuriki that defeated Zakuro in the tournament. When it came down to it he was still rather weak but he had a part to play nonetheless. His somber and self-reflective mood lightened as a young woman approached. He made brief eye contact with her but didn’t say anything. She was certainly pretty, though he was still with Suzume so he didn’t think much of it aside from smiling slightly and looking her over briefly. It had been a couple of weeks since he had left the Land of Stars, he expected it wouldn’t be long before his girlfriend sent word of her safe arrival back in Dragon Country. He was used to such intervals in communication though it still worried him somewhat.

When Kaede flicked Masami’s ear and the Jinchuuriki whimpered and protested the twins were quick to pick up on her distress. Hanako had been helping them see over the railing for Kiyori’s speech a woman who like Masami they considered an honorary aunt. Kaori was quick to interject, “Nooo, don’t hurt auntie” she pleaded, nearly crying herself as she rushed over to give Masami a hug. Takeshi ran over with her, moving between the two, “She said please. You have to listen!” he asserted, frowning. Surely after being reassured by Masami they would settle down a little, meanwhile, Takeo simply smirked, the kids were being raised well at least. “See, Aunt Masami is fine” Yozei interjected, crouching down to the level of the twin four year old’s. “Kaede wouldn’t hurt her for real right? She's a healer just like you want to be” he said, looking to his little sister who seemed to perk up at this thought. “Her name is like mine too” she realized, smiling now before now burying her head in Yozei’s leg as he stood up. Takeshi, on the other hand, gave the newcomer one last glare before running over to Masami to see what she was looking for, “I can help! Byaugan” he called out to no avail. To this Takeo swiftly moved behind his son and rubbed his head, “Not yet son, you’ll get it one of these days” he assured chuckling deeply before lifting him up on to his shoulders. “There. Maybe now you can see him” he stated, though even Takeo had never met Souta before.

The people of Suna cheering for Kiyori, their new leader, was a sound unlike anything she had ever heard before. It brought tears to her eyes, though she would blink them away and smile to her people, waving to them for a few moments before trying to quiet the crowd. As she motioned for silence, the whole crowd once more stood still... truly in that moment, she did feel much like a god. "I must leave you all for now, but before I do... A moment of prayer. Please, everyone, bow your heads and lend me your hearts!" It was up to them if they wished to follow suit or not, but almost all of Sunagakure's people would do as asked, bowing and clasping their hands together.

Kiyori would do the same, closing her eyes and putting her hands together, though she looked not to the ground but to the sky, her head tilted up to the sun. "Oh holy Light above, bless this day and the celebrations that will come to pass. Bless our relationship with our allies, and open the eyes of others that they too might call us their allies. Bless these people, that they might grow and prosper under my guidance, that I in turn am guided by thy glory. Please... grant me the wisdom, the power, the courage to lead these people to better tomorrows. To serve them that they might become what you have always wanted them to be. Bless us all with the glory of Her Light!"

The people would all perform the customary sign of Yuumagure, bringing their right hand up to touch their chest, then their lips, before holding the hand up to the sky itself. Kiyori would do the same, then outstretch her arms high above her head, palms turned outwards, forming a sort of "V" with her arms as she looked up to the sun. "Please, enjoy the celebrations my people. This is not just my day, but our day. And people of Konoha! Hokage Takeo-sama!" Her gaze fell directly to the VIP section of that she had set up for the people of Konoha, her eyes falling directly on the white robed man himself; Natsuki Takeo. "I would meet with you before this day's end. There is much to discuss, for the future of our people. Now then, enjoy this day my people!"

More cheers could be heard among the people as they bowed and praised Kiyori's name, the woman giving more waves and smiles to her people before finally turning from the balcony to walk back into the building. Of course, the moment she was out of sight, Arata scooped her for a kiss, which she was relieved to receive. The advisors, clan leaders and council may have been against him, but she was Kiyori's love; they'd have to get over that. She once more donned her hat, smiling at the darkness to her light. "Thank you, Arata. I hope I can live up to that pride. The stress is already a mountain... But I think I can do this. Thank you everyone, for helping me prepare for this. Is there anything else that needs my attention? Because I would like to sit with the Hokage and his entourage as soon as possible."

Sueatsu, having been rather quiet for almost the entirety of the celebration, aside from his speech, suddenly looked up toward the balcony. A momentary expression of confusion crossed his face before he broke out into a chuckle. This chuckle then proceeded to a full belly laugh. "My Lady... If what I just heard is correct, you're plate's gonna be fuller than mine ever was from the getgo. You better get your talk in with the Hokage now... because afterwards, you'll have some clan business to attend to," he replied, a wide grin plastered on his face as he looked out toward the wall of the village.

What Sueatsu had heard had been a specially made whistle. It was imperceptible to the normal human ear, but his acute physical senses would pick it up even half a day out. The whistle had been given to Sunagakure shinobi, assigned to a long-term mission. This was a mission unlike any other, and it had been initiated under Sueatsu's administration. He frankly hadn't been expecting that they would be returning from their mission so soon. Out in the desert plains, the guards on the wall would see a large caravan slowly emerge into their view. At first, the guards almost sounded the alarm, but a flare rose up from the caravan as it swelled, the charge exploding out into a dazzling display of a flower, cornflower blue petals around a bright yellow core.

The captain of the guard understood the signal immediately, and a messenger was dispatched. Interestingly enough, it was the same messenger that had retrieved Kiyori from the Library at the start of her exam, only this time, his footsteps were delicate, considerate, barely causing a stir as he practically flew over the buildings in the village. Landing gracefully on the balcony, he took three strides forward before bending the knee. "Kazekage-sama! I have incredible news!"

Looking up, a look of astonishment in his eyes. "They have returned! The Shuudoushi... the clan is coming home!"
