Chuunin Exam: Thriving in the Sun

Post by Diatenshi » Fri Jul 14, 2023 3:11 am

It was midday and the scorching sun beat down upon the desert landscape of Sunagakure's training grounds. Enclosed by towering sandstone walls, the training grounds were designed to resemble a miniature battlefield, complete with intricate sand formations that mimicked the treacherous dunes of the surrounding desert. It was the perfect place Mimi and other young genin could improve their shinobi skills for the upcoming trials.

With the announcement of the upcoming chuunin exams, the training grounds, were bustling with activity. Currently experienced instructors oversaw the progress of the trainees, offering guidance, expertise, and pushing them to their limits. All in hopes they'd perform well, showing Suna was still strong despite the recent invasion. The sound of kunai clashing, jutsu being unleashed, and the whispers of wind and sand filled the air, creating an atmosphere of determination and growth.

Mimi herself was locked in combat against her own spirit twin, sparring with the four armed assassin. By competing against an ancient being with mounds of combat knowledge and experience she was positive she would see rapid improvement. Though she was stronger than him in this world, she limited herself to using the bare minimum power to succeed against him. Leimine carefully assessed her opponent's unique advantage: four powerful limbs capable of launching attacks from unexpected angles. She knew that her agility and quick reflexes would be crucial in countering Azir's multiple limbs. With a focused gaze, she took a deep breath, centering herself in the midst of the swirling sands.

Azir, adorned in sand colored garb that seemed to blend with the surrounding dunes, studied Leimine with a piercing gaze. Each of his four arms flexed in anticipation, his fingertips crackling with suppressed energy. "Come on show me something worth while. Or do you plan to make a disgrace of yourself again?" He taunted trying to get under her skin and reveal an opening. He knew the girls biggest weakness was her will. She struggled to face her fears and doubts and ran from them like a whipped dog, tail between its legs. If he could unnerve her, she'd be at his mercy.

Leimine let his barbed words roll off her like sand, she knew she couldn't afford to underestimate him. Any opening or sign of weakness would be an invitation to be attacked. Every strike had to be precise and calculated. Without any warning, Azir launched himself forward with, his limbs shifting and intertwining in a mesmerizing display of agility. Leimine skillfully dodged his initial flurry of attacks, fluidly moving between the oncoming limbs.

The young kunoichi retaliated with a series of swift and powerful kicks, aiming to disrupt Azir's balance. Her strikes were met with a complex web of parries, as Azir deftly defended himself with a combination of precise blocks and evasions. His four arms moved in perfect synchrony, displaying years of honed expertise. As the spar continued, Leimine recognized the need to adapt her tactics. She relied on her natural agility and speed, darting around the battlefield with the grace of a desert breeze.

She used the terrain to her advantage, grabbing and throwing sand towards the spirit's eyes to blind him. Azir, however, was not one to be outmaneuvered easily. He anticipated Leimine's tactics, countering her sand with acute focus and keen observation. When her hand released the sand he spun 360 degrees protecting his eyes and connecting of his fist to her cheek.

Leimine refused to be discouraged. She began using her sand style techniques aggressively, retaliating with a series of quick seals then expelling a cloud of sand from her mouth towards Azir. The shifting sands obscured his vision, forcing him to rely on instinct and heightened senses. Leimine seized the opportunity to cast another jutsu molding the sand around her fist before striking with a swift barrage of precise attacks aimed at exploiting any vulnerability.

Chuunin Exam: Thriving in the Sun

Post by hobnob » Sat Jul 15, 2023 6:09 am

Itoshii was bored. The eight year old spent his morning just smashing up shit as his family did not want anything to do with him. What was he to do? He'd walk from one part of the village to another, simply trying to find something to do. Something that would get people attention. He did not care whether his actions were good or bad. In reality he had not learned to tell the difference between to two due to his family being absent from his life. The boy had no one, no one to rely on, and no one to talk to. His days were spent in solitude. The only thing he did have was this forcefield around his body. He could not be hurt, he could not hurt himself beyond the general pinch. But if he tried to use any foreign object, the forcefield would block the object from making contact with his skin. The boy felt nothing, and that lead him the developing a lack of morality. Breaking things was the least worry some of his activities.

As he walked past a training ground, he heard noises that resembled a battle. Although the boy was young, he knew what the sound of battle was. His clans compound was full of it. The Ikigai worked hard to perfect their skills, and this led to them developing a daily training manual for every member of the clan, except for Itoshii. The boy was along with his thoughts, day and night. But the sound of battle attracted his attention, and he began to make his way over. In the distance he could see a Kunoichi, and a four armed monster fighting. The monster peaked Itoshiis attention, and without a second thought, the boy charged at it.

'MONSTA! MONSTA! MONSTA!' The youth screamed as he ran towards the creature. With no real idea on what he was going to do, he simply charged. And when he, finally, arrived. The boy would unleash a barrage of punches at the deamon. The forcefield around his body would be making contact with the monster, if any of his punches were to actually meet their mark. His eyes were filled with blissful rage. This was the first bit of entertainment he had ever had. Smashing up shit and killing rats was the norm, but this. It was overwhelming. The smile grew on his face with every punch that he had thrown, and doing so brought him more and more joy. If the creature moved, so would Itoshii. There would be no pause in his onslaught. Although to a bystander this would most likely look crazy, like the child himself were possessed by some sort of demon. The rage behind his movements spoke thousands, and the rage fuelled him and his actions. The smile grew and grew and grew. With each swing the fury became more intense, and with each swing the youth enjoyed the situation more, more and more.

The boy himself was a demon

Chuunin Exam: Thriving in the Sun

Tak tak tak.

'MONSTA! MONSTA! MONSTA!'

Despite being locked in combat, or maybe because of it even, both Leimine and Azir had been on high alert, hyper aware of their surroundings. So when they heard a young boy they'd both glanced in his direction only to be astonished, pausing their spar and redirecting their focus. The child was incredibly young barely old enough to be a ninja and yet there was no mistaking his headband. The lads arms were flailing as he charged over incredibly slowly. He truly appeared as nothing more than a small child throwing a temper tantrum over not getting his way.

While Azir wasn't overly fast, Mimi had even been intentionally matching her skills to his ability, his advantage came in the form of multiple sets of arms. He'd been using the stronger, more muscular upper arms wielding intricate ornate daggers to deflect Mimi's attacks. Meanwhile his lower pair of arms had been busy performing seals required for a jutsu that had just completed. His speed suddenly jumped almost double what it had been before. Breaking apart as the boy charged at Azir, he deftly avoided the boy's blows, his body sway left and right in time with the punches.

Meanwhile, Mimi would have been busy laughing at Azir's predicament. An ancient assassin who's name inspired fear back in his home world, was forced to run from a young 8 year old child. Relaxing a little seeing how slow the child moved, she attempted to grab the collar of his shirt and yank him back on his butt. However, as she reached out to touch him her hand was blocked by a mysterious force. Puzzled she tried again before shrugging at Azir. She had no clue as to what bizarre force was keeping her from touching the child.

To Azir, something felt off about the child's swings and so Azir did his best to dodge the childs blow's that were moving at about a third of his speed. He observed the child with his scrutinizing eyes as he swing trying to figure out what it was about the boy that unnerved him so. After a few moments of meticulous study, he figured out what was bothering him. His clothes weren't being disrupted by air resistance as he swung them. Furthermore, when he watched Leimine try to reach out and grab the boy, her hand couldn't get near the child's body as if their was a barrier preventing it from getting close.

"Child I don't know who you are but I am no demon you ignorant little shit. I'm a spirit. And I was in the middle of a spar, training someone else."

He began to prepare another jutsu to help him disappear from the childs sight. He'd been planning on using it against Mimi but circumstances had changed his plans. After the seals were completed. He'd release a handful of sand right in front of the young boy's face. Should the boy see this sand his vision would be impaired by visions of thick swirling sand as if he was suddenly thrown into a sandstorm. Afterwards, Azir would step back into the sand cloud becoming nigh invisible should the genjutsu have taken effect.

"You know its very rude to interrupt someone else's training. But thank you for trying to be my knight in shining armor. Azir's creepy to look at I know. You saw me getting attacked and jumped in to help without second thought. Your heart's in the right place kiddo."

Mimi would call out to the boy once Azir hid within the giant cloud of sand. She chastised him only slightly, after all seeing someone being attacked it was only natural he wanted to help. Though maybe getting the full details first may help. Azir himself grew weary of the interruption and sighed with detached apathy as he watched the boy chase after him into the sand cloud.

Sand Veil
D-Rank Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the required seals the user will release a handful of sand. Those that see the sand spill from the user's hand will be caught in the genjutsu. The target will have their vision clouded as if they're in a sandstorm, sand blowing around them overlaying what they see. Last 3 post.

*Fuuton • Wind Skating
D-Ranked Fuuton Jutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, the user is able to glide on air as if they were skating on ice. This allows them to move faster (+3 speed) but lowers their ability to translate force (-3 Strength). This doesn't allow them to fly, but rather to travel over things like land, water, and ice with greater ease. The user is only held several inches off of the ground. This Jutsu does not expire until the user’s chakra supply runs out or the user shuts it off. The fuuton passive is not applied in this technique.

Chuunin Exam: Thriving in the Sun

Itoshiis fury clouded his senses. He could not control himself, and the words from the two meant nothing to him. The boy was in the zone flushed with rage. He wanted action, so even after the spirit put the boy under his spell, Itoshii continued swinging his arms in anger, trying to reach the spirit with all the little fury fuelled might that he had. Regardless of whether the physical sand tried to attack him, the sand itself would simply press against the gravitational forcefield surrounding Itoshii. This has happened many times, and this is what he assumed happened now when he could not see due to sand obscuring his vision. The boy had no clue, whatsoever, that he had been placed under a genjutsu. He just continued on swinging his little arms trying to make contact with what he still thought was a monster.

But not being able to see enraged him further. The urge to watch him target grew with every passing moment, and when he was stripped of that ability, he cried out in rage - 'WHERE ARE YOU!' the youth screamed at the top of his squeaky little voice. The boy was eight, no one in their right mind would take the boy seriously, but his sheer ferociousness would one day inspire fear in people. If he continued down this demonic path that he was leading himself down, the boy would be a menace to the world. No one would know what evil he may bring cause for the world of shinobi if he continued to live the life of a ruthless savage that the lack of care from his family had caused him to go down on. Knowledge of life was not something the boy had, after all he was eight. And right now, all he wanted to do was swing his fists at the creature with four arms.

Left, right, left, right, left, the boy was beginning to go in circles. Swinging his fists in every possible direction. Eventually he resulted to windmilling with his arms as he tried to strike the spirit that was hiding behind the veil of sand. There was no stopping him. Ruthless, ferocious, fierce, dangerous, brutal, these were all words that perfectly described the boy. In his current state he would scare people away just by sheer behaviour. The lack of vision enraged him further, not only that, he was becoming frustrated, and frustration bred more rage, and more rage bred more desire to fight. The youth was in perpetual motion of fighting caused by the rage. There was no controlling him, the boy would not even be able to control himself in this state. The boy would continue to go on until he would not be able to go on any longer. And with his youth, size, and determination. The boy would likely be able to go on for quite some time. And he loved it, deep inside, he loved every second of this blinded bout the caused such strong emotions to emerge from within.

Azir would grow tired of dodging the boy's wild throws. If he could touch him he'd have thrown him to the ground and sat on him till he calmed down. Alas that means was beyond him. He continued to dance around in the cloud of sand however he knew it would not last much longer.

"Shall we end this farce Leimine? This child is belligerent and idiotic. Our words are not reaching him and our training has come to a halt. Entertaining him further is both meaningless and a waste of your time, remember the chuunin exams are approaching."

Azir called out from within the sand cloud. The boy was blind and half the time he swung in the wrong direction. Understanding his intent, Leimine would release his summons and his form turn incorporeal before vanishing completely. As he disappeared the genjutsu on the boy would come undone. Shortly after, the sand cloud disappear leaving the child swinging wildly in the open. Sighing to herself her right eye purple once again. Leimine would start to leave. No point in hanging around here when the child couldn't be reasoned with and she was unlikely to get any worthwhile training from someone so slow.
