[Plotboard] The end of the Rabbit Hole

Despite the fact that Aimi had killed the woman who could have lead them to Homura island, much to Kuro's disdain, the two did eventually make it to the place. As they landed on their little dingy, the two would dart through the forest until they came to the other end of the island, which was only about 3 miles in diameter. Fairly small for an island, it probably wasn't even on a map. However the fortress that Kaede had told them about was shocking to say the least, because it was definitely brand new. In fact, a watchful eye could see that the earthen base literally rose up and out of the earth... It was formed by Doton.

The fortress itself was about 5 stories tall, with a 3 story wall surrounding the entirety of the large stone building, which had a stone tower stretching up to the sky. The whole fortress, including the outer walls, was probably about 400 meters in diameter, though of course it wasn't a perfect circle. It was more of a rectangular shape, the walls encompassing all else. There were men stationed on top of the walls, keeping a watchful eye for assailants. They were armed with bows and crossbows, and the only discernible entrance to the place was the front gate... which was raised like a drawbridge. On the opposite side of the island was the coastline, and beyond that the ocean. To the right was a large hill, probably about 60 feet tall... Taller than the walls.

"The fort is made of chakra... Act of tree walking won't work. It looks pretty secure, but this is where I shine. I need you to remain where you are for a few minutes... I'm going to make my way inside. Once I fade from your sight, I want you to count to 50... Then do whatever you want. Can you do that for me?" Kuro spoke to his ally and superior, hoping desperately that he would let Kuro do his job properly and not rush in gung ho like a madman.

The trip to Homura island had been slightly more turbulent than Aimi had foreseen, but not nearly turbulent enough that he regretted for one second killing the geisha bitch. The local fisherman had been reluctant at best and outright scared at first to tell them about the island, let alone take them to it. When they found one who was willing to talk, apparently not afraid of the Kage Korasu - or at the very least less afraid of them than he was of two Kirigakure shinobi looking for them. He wasn't willing to take them to the island, though, but he had let them borrow his dingy which was nice enough. Neither he nor Kuro made any promises about returning the boat after they were finished with it.

Arriving on the southern part of the island, Aimi had made sure to drag the dingy ashore before running with Kuro through what remained of the forest. It was obvious that much of what had once been on this island had been taken by those who saw fit to set up shop on it, the trees likely used to construct the fortress. The two of them came within viewing distance of the structure and Kuro no doubt made a much more thorough observation of it than Aimi did. To him, he was looking at a fort, plain and simple. It could have been made from doton, the thugs inside could have assembled it brick by brick. He didn't ponder on the building itself or how it was made but rather looked towards his part of the mission - that was, the thugs themselves. Unfortunately for the Yamai, there were no goons to be seen outside of the fort, at least from where they were hidden. None were patrolling the high walls or were on the grounds, meaning they were either all inside or the few who were outside were just out of their line of sight.

The jounin listened to his subordinates suggestion and was once again annoyed by the fact that he'd seen fit to make it himself instead of waiting for Aimi to give him some orders. Seriously, did the chain of command mean nothing to the Aisu, or did he just have that little respect for Aimi? After all they'd been through together? Annoyed or not, the white haired man looked back at the fortress and pondered his suggestion. This was the place where the syndicate they were after were supposed to be based here in the Land of Water, and it was Kuro's job to get proof of that as well as any sort of further plans on the matter, while it was Aimi's just to... well, erase the existence of all those who stepped in his way. There was on denying that the two of them were each suited for their tasks, but it still irked him that Kuro felt like he could make the plans and just run them by Aimi rather than the other way around; at least that's how it felt in Aimi's mind.

"You get 45," he said simply, turning his back against the tree he was stood against and sliding down to sit on the ground, his left hand resting on his pommel. He let Kuro run off and do his own thing while he began to relax. He'd had a hearty couple of meals since the destruction of Akiko's brothel camp and a fair amount of sleep for a shinobi on a mission. He felt in good shape, but it never hurt to get in a little bit more of a relaxation before heading into battle. While he waited, he also pondered on that genjutsu using bitch for a moment or two, remembering how she was an Aisu, and how he hadn't told Kuro that yet. It just... hadn't seemed like the right time yet, and it still didn't feel like the right time to him. Not while they were on a mission. If they survived this fort and came out with the intel they needed, he decided he'd tell him on the way back to Kirigakure. It was important, after all, that the two of them tell similar stories to the higher ups in the Mizukage tower. A detail like the seductresses heritage being missing from Kuro's report would look bad for the special jounin...

Kuro nodded in response to Aimi's response... after all, he had actually overestimated by a good amount, he could no doubt get in position in about 20 seconds. But It was better to be safe then sorry. "I'm going to use a genjutsu. Plug your ears." Kuro stated matter of factly before darting along the treeline like a silent shadow. He'd keep moving until he was on the opposite side of the large hill, and then he'd perform a string of hand seals before flicking his wrist to produce a small stick from inside. These sticks were specially crafted to be quite loud when they were snapped...

And just then, Kuro would snap the stick, garnering the attention of all of the guards on the tower walls. Without hesitation he'd dart back to Aimi's position and nod before continuing past him towards the hilltop. All the while, the guards would find themselves fixated on Kuro's previous location... They felt as though they were being watched from that direction, their minds plagued by his technique. A few of them had arrows drawn, pointing towards the woods as if waiting for an army to show themselves. Of course, with no basis for their feeling, they couldn't go on high alert; they'd be a laughing stock at best, and at worst they'd be severely reprimanded.

That was just the kind of thing Kuro was counting on; they'd keep their attention fixed over there but they wouldn't put the place on alert. This would allow Kuro to run up the side of the hill, performing a series of hand seals and enshrouding himself in an aura of Fuuton chakra. Once he was at the top of the hill, he took a deep breath... It was at least 100 meters from the hill to the base, but that's what his technique was for. Taking a deep breath, Kuro would run and leap off of the hilltop, arms outstretched like a flying squirrel. Aimi would watch as Kuro glided along through the air, descending slowly but rapidly moving horizontally towards the base.

It only took maybe 20 seconds for him to make it over the fortress's wall, in fact he was still about 50 meters in the air when he cleared the walls. He would quickly drop straight down in a dive before slowing his descent once he got within 5 meters of the ground, landing softly and silently. Immediately he took in his surroundings, finding that there was a smaller hut behind him and a large wooden overhang ahead of him. The overhang had what appeared to be some kind of forge and anvil, a smithing station, which was currently manned by two people who hadn't noticed Kuro's arrival. Behind him, the hut appeared to have a service entrance into the base within it.

He silently dashed over to that hut, finding once he got inside that there was only a single occupant. A quick, silent slash across the throat from behind. That was all it took to keep him quiet and dispatch him, his body fell limp as his blood spilled out. His blade retracted, and he turned his attention to the door... Which was locked of course. And the bastard he had just killed didn't have a key. He could pick it, but by the time he did Aimi would be upon the fort. He needed to get inside before that happened... Kuro thought quickly, performing a short series of hand seals before forming an orb of Hyouton in his hands, which he quickly fired towards the door. The door cooled rapidly, small crystals of frost forming along the wood. Then, he'd place his cloak over the handle to muffle the sound of his punch against the wood.

His punch shattered the handle of the door, allowing him to push the door open and enter the building. He had maybe 10 seconds until Aimi started his rampage, so he quickly searched around and found a bunch of burlap sacks and barrels in a corner of the service room. The room was empty thankfully, so he had no problem darting over to the stuff and crouching down before performing a Henge. A moment later, he would appear as a barrel, and when Aimi attacked hopefully the men inside would rush right past him... He'd have free reign over the fort.
Jutsu UsedShow
[Genjutsu • Watching You]
C-Ranked Status Genjutsu
Kuro will perform a series of hand seals before snapping a stick. Those who hear the sound of the stick snapping are caught within the genjutsu, and for the next 4 posts will feel as though they are being watched from a direction specified by Kuro. Those afflicted will feel unease and fear related to the feeling of being watched, which can cause various reactions based on their personality and mindset.

Fuuton • Glide
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Kuro will perform a set of hand seals and cover his body with a thin coating of Fuuton chakra, granting him the ability to glide through the air. While this is active, Kuro can slowly descend while controlling his trajectory, moving at his normal speed while doing so. He will descend a minimum of 1 meter every post he is airborne, and this jutsu lasts for a maximum of 5 posts, at which point Kuro will immediately begin falling back to the ground if he is still airborne. This does not apply the fuuton passive.

[Frailty]
D Rank Ninjutsu
Kuro channels chakra throughout his body, creating a 1 meter diameter orb of Hyouton chakra in his hands. He then fires this orb at a speed of four at any object within 15 meters, usually an opponent's weapon. Should this orb come into contact with an object, it will quickly cool the weapon and make it brittle, reducing the amount of strength required to break it by 2.

*[Basic Jutsu • Transformation Technique]
E-Ranked Ninjutsu
After completing the needed handseals, the user of this technique will be able to alter their physical appearance to match that of another person. By consistently emitting chakra throughout their body, the user is able to keep their appearance adjusted at the cost of their stamina draining over time. As this technique is quite strenuous to uphold, experienced shinobi may see more clearly through this delusive disguise. This technique lasts for a number of posts equal to that of the user's stamina.

Aimi did as he was told, his hand snapping up to his ears and his index finger stuffing up his ear holes while his middle finger pressed down on his ears to completely block out all sound except that of his heart beat at the word 'genjutsu'. It was almost comical, really, to see him reacting so fast to just a word. Never the less, as Kuro went off and left Aimi in silence, he began to count. 'One. Two. Three. Four...' He counted off in his head, his thoughts quite deliberate and focused on just the numbers that ticked by as he waited for Kuro to do his thing. 'Eight. Nine. Ten. Eleven. Twelve...' The sight of Kuro reappearing next to him and nodding as a signal was all that Aimi needed to unplug his ears, though he continued to count as his gaze turned off into the sparse forest in front of him.

'Eighteen. Nineteen. Twenty. Twenty-one. Twenty-two...' As he counted, he began to think of what he would do in order to cause a distraction. He thought about what would make the GREATEST distraction, what would get these thugs' attention the most. He didn't think that his combustion technique would be powerful enough to blast through the wall, especially if it was made with doton as his Aisu partner had suggested. He could just... set fire to the forest, but that seemed like a perfect waste of a potential escape route. He had no doubts that he could cut his way into the fortress or just flat out tear into it but would that be enough? 'Thirty-three. Thirty-four. Thirty-five. Thirty-six...'

He thought through the scenarios of what he was capable of quickly. He could fly up the wall or just above the fortress, getting attention that way. He could start killing guards one at a time. He could swarm the building with his ghost-lights or bombard it from the air with fireball jutsu. Nothing seemed sufficient to him, nothing seemed like it would draw enough attention. 'Thirty-nine. Forty. Forty-one. Forty-two. Forty-three. Forty-Four - ' It hit him all at once, a spark of inspiration that ignited the fires of action within him. As he came to the forty-fifth second in his countdown, the Yamai knew exactly what he was going to do.

Standing up from where he'd been sitting against the tree, Aimi stepped around the trunk and walked out into the open. Slowly. Left hand resting on the pommel of his sword, right hand swinging at his side, one food in front of the other. No speed, no sneaking, walking directly in front of and along the back wall and rounding a corner to head towards the front of the fort itself, seemingly oblivious to or uncaring of the fact that he could be spotted at any moment.

In fact - Aimi began to whistle.
He whistled loudly and shrilly, his cheeks puffed out and his lips pursed together. His steps began to take on the cadence of his whistling and his head started to lightly bob from side to side - not a care in the world seemingly! Was that a fortress to his left? Full of good and thugs, drug dealers and murderers? Who cared about that, listen to this shirtless man whistle! His whistling almost immediately caught the attention of some of the guards on his side of the wall which, incidentally, had been in the opposite direction of where Kuro performed his genjutsu. Seeing a pale, white haired man whistling the day away after seeing how the guards were reacting on the other side as if there were an intruder, the more stable minded guards put one and one together to make three and concluded that it had been AIMI who had made the noise, and thus called the guards over.

Aimi ignored all of the commotion going on above him and just continued to stroll and whistle, drawing as much attention to himself as he could. The guards up top, especially those under the influence of Kuro's genjutsu, got a bit antsy at his nonchalant attitude around their fortress and drew arrows back to fire on him. Aimi simply took a speedy step forward each time to dodge the oncoming arrows, incorporating the movements into his cadence until he was practically skipping down the wall as he made his way towards the front. As he rounded the corner to the front of the porch, he did just that - skipped along as if he didn't have a care in the world, now temporarily out of range of arrows as he was.

He skipped a good ways in front of the fortress, roughly fifty meters or so, before he stopped and turned back to face the front of the fortress. He was practically on the beach by that point, the sea at his back and the deforested front lawn of the fortress in front of him. Guards were surrounding the front of the fortress at the top. The front gate was opened slightly as men came rushing out, heeding the call to see what was up with some whistling man on their island. All had weapons drawn, primed and ready to strike. Aimi's whistling reached a crescendo and he slowly raised his left hand off of his pommel and up to the front of his face, palm faced out towards the fortress and his right fist brought up behind his hand. He squared himself evenly on the ground, legs spread far apart and knees bent slightly, toes digging into the ground at his feet before he smacked the back of his left hand in a jarring speed, creating a dense cluster of air directly in front of him which he proceeded to thrust his left fist at, and the rest was aces.

The air, morphed by his powerful punch into the shape of a tiger's head, rushed forward to meet the men and the fortress they inhabited, colliding not just with their bodies but also the front of the fort as well and exploding out with concussive force! The front of the fortress fell, bursting open almost at the seams as dust and rock flew in the air. The bodies of men went flying all in different directions and the gates were torn open. The ground in front of the fortress was similarly torn to shreds as dust and debris flew back into Aimi's face, who squinted his eyes to avoid as much of the effects as he could. The shockwave resulting from his attack burst both inside of the fortress and out towards him, the water on the beach not twenty meters to his back being pushed back as though the tide itself had been reversed. Aimi withstood it, though, having learned from the prostitution camp to not get so close to his own attack when he used it. He was able to stand firm against the oncoming rush of air, and as the dust settled he relaxed his stance and looked at what he'd done.

The front of the fortress was almost entirely demolished, the doors not only blown off of their hinges but shattered to splinters, the wall now a pile of rubble on top of itself and a few unfortunate souls who had found themselves first blown against the wall and then buried beneath it. What remained as a gaping, dusty wound in the once solid fortress with no one within the immediate area to stop him from furthering his advance. So, he did just that - he advanced. Dusting himself off as he went Aimi walked right up to the opened way and stepped over the pile of stones that had once been a wall, once again not bothering to take the effort to exercise his speed in this situation. The Afternoon Tiger had taken a small hunk out of his chakra pool after all, and he needed to preserve that as much a possible to maximize his efforts. No use getting tired just running to the party.

Standing on top of the heap of stones, he looked into the darkness of the fortress. Dust swirled around inside and sunlight poured in through the demolished wall. He couldn't see anyone moving inside just yet, but he had no doubt that more would be coming soon. His taijutsu would have shaken the very foundation of this fortress, after all. A hell of a way to knock on the door, really. Taking a step down and moving into the fort, Aimi once more began to whistle.

Jutsu UsedShow
[Strong Fist Style • Afternoon Tiger]
S-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: [Heavenly Body Control], [Strong Fist Style • Morning Peacock]
The user places a palm facing forward in front of their face with one hand and then taps it with his other hand, formed into a fist, which creates a massive amount of air pressure. The user punches forward which launches the air pressure at the opponent in the shape of a tiger, by leaving a gigantic tiger-shaped impression into the initially built-up air pressure. The air pressure will condense as it's moving and be focused into a single point. The technique then explodes, releasing the built up air pressure in an instant. A massive concussive explosion is created which can be felt at a distance of 150 meters away. The size of the explosion is 45 meters in radius. The Strength of the explosion is equal to 3/5 the user's Strength. The energy of the attack is capable of withering the skin, muscle, and tissue of any being to a quivering mess.

To say that the fortress was now on high alert... That was the understatement of the century. Kuro felt the jarring tremors shake through the entire fort, he heard the destruction from outside and the debris that blew in through the open door Kuro had left. The force of the strike itself even destroyed the frozen door Kuro had left, making it even less likely that anyone would realize his presence. About 15 seconds after that blast hit the fort, a slew of 10 people came rushing out past Kuro, each armed with various weaponry ranging from simple spears and katana to Kanabo and even one man with a Seven Branched Sword of greatsword size.

The most interesting thing though? Each and every one of them paused before going outside and perfomed the exact same handseals, engulfing themselves in some kind of light blue ninpou aura. Each and every one of them... Was trained in the ways of chakra.

Shit... I really hope Aimi hasn't bitten off too much here. Those guys are no mere peasants. Kuro lamented, but he had no choice in this matter. He had to stick to the plan and carry out his mission, and simply rely on his ally's abilities. Aimi was by no means weak, Kuro would even argue he surpassed the young Aisu in more than one way. He could handle himself, or at the least he trusted the man to back off if things got hairy. Once the men had charged out the door, Kuro popped out of his Henge form and channeled a large amount of chakra into his eye, then lifted his forehead protector to reveal the Hyouteki. His eye could now pick up a frequency unlike any other, a wavelength of light that, under normal circumstances, was entirely useless. However, he reached into his ninja pouch and wrapped his hand around the small cube within, pressing the button on it's side. The Wave Emitter would then begin to send out waves in pulses, and his eye could interpret the pulses as the returned.

If there was anyone else in this base, he'd know. And luckily for him, the waves revealed no other people aside from the ones outside gathering to fight Aimi. Like a shadow, Kuro would dart deeper into the fort... He'd find the main office of their leader and go through his documents, and he'd learn the reasons for all of this expansion. And if all worked out well, he'd figure all of this out before Aimi succumbed to the forces amassed against him.

Meanwhile, on the outside, the people decimated by Aimi's initial opening assault were but a small fraction of the total forces within this building. From above on the walls where the tower opened up on top of the stone fort itself, some eighteen more archers gathered, arrows nocked and fired the moment they had an eye on Aimi. And these arrows were not typical in nature; the entire arrow was made of a kind of metal and serrated in a corkscrew fashion, the arrows themselves spinning rapidly as they approached Aimi's position. Their speed was admirable even for Aimi, and a single hit would shred wherever it hit. After firing once volley, they would nock a second set, but would await instruction to fire again.

And from the lower levels, some two dozen warriors emerged, each of them wielding various weapons as stated previously. Their weapons were mundane in comparison to the archers, but their ace in the hole was the aura of chakra surrounding them. It was not armor per se, but it would cushion any blows made against them, reducing the damage by a significant amount and enabling them to fight for longer before succumbing to wounds. These men would work to encircle Aimi, cutting off any means of escape. And when combat ensued, they would approach him four at a time from different directions. Clearly these were no mere warriors, they were trained in group combat tactics and skilled in their respective weapons.

Finally, atop the tower, a single man stood and looked out at Aimi. He stood at a solid six foot four, bulk muscle clearly visible even from this distance. His black wavy hair fell in layers down his back, with two strands falling down over the front of his shoulders and down to his chest. Aimi would also be able to see what he could only guess was the hilt of a profound greatsword on the man's back, though he wouldn't be able to tell with any accuracy since it was behind his back. A large black trenchcoat covered his body, the collar covering most of his neck though his chest was left bare of any clothing. And of course the man had on a pair of simple pants, along with combat boots. All of this would be clearly visible, as the man was literally standing on the edge of the tower, as if he were about to jump.

"So... Has Kiri finally taken notice of our little operation here in their lands? Took you long enough... But really, they sent only a single shinobi to deal with us? Even if you're the best there is, you still aren't enough. I am Raven, and these are my men... I hope you don't expect to leave here alive." He grinned a mischievous grin as he looked down at Aimi and his whistling, then reached up to draw what was confirmed to be a gargantuan greatsword, easily 6 feet long in the blade. And what was scarier, he held it one handed with practiced ease, pointing it down at Aimi with the same speed and accuracy as one might weild a Ninjato.

"Make no mistake, you tore down our walls with a single attack. Clearly you have some skill, but from up here you just look like an ant, waiting to be squashed." He held a single hand up to his eye and made a pinching motion, as if he was crushing Aimi with his bare hands. Then, with a hearty laugh, Raven gave the word; "FIGHT!"

The battle was on.

[Plotboard] The end of the Rabbit Hole

Post by Golnax » Sat Feb 17, 2018 8:00 am

Kuro would make his way through the halls of the fort without any issue of running into anyone else as anyone of significance was all running to the front of the fort where Aimi now stood. A heavy dust would hang in the air as any that had been settled was now kicked up thanks to the efforts of his partner's attack. It wouldn't take Kuro long at all to find a stair case leading up stairs, all of the rooms he'd passed at the bottom being mostly storage areas. Once up on the second floor, it would again be a simple matter of dashing through the empty halls, checking doors and rooms until he finally came across a double door which seemed like a good bet where he could find some intel. Checking the door, the Aisu would find it locked but whether he froze the handle off, picked the lock or just plain broke in, it would be a simple matter for him to get through.

Inside was a large, semi organized room with a bed to the right, a desk in the center and a set of book shelves to the left. Piles of papers were stacked on top of each other at seemingly random intervals around the room - on top of books, on the floor, several on the desk - until it seemed like they had practically been thrown about. As Kuro would enter the room and begin searching, it would no doubt take him a few minutes to sleuth out the location of whatever it was he was looking for. Most of the loose papers lying around were either notes to, presumably, other members within the fort or the organization itself, or sheets of numbers and tables, book keeping of some kind. There was one piece of loose parchment that would stand out, though. An envelope on the center of the desk, the seal broken and it's contents laid bare. Just a simple piece of parchment with only two words scrawled on it in heavy black ink: "We know."

No doubt finding what was just left out in the open to be useless to the special jounin, he'd move on to the second most obvious place to look for incriminating evidence - any and everything locked! The desk had a few drawers, all of them lock, and any shinobi worth their salt would assume that there was at least one lock box in a place like this. As Kuro would go about his work, though, he would be interrupted by the sound of the double doors closing. Looking up, Kuro would bear witness to a mammoth of a man, standing at just under seven feet tall! His back was turned to the Aisu and the shinobi could hear the sound of the door locking behind the huge man, which was especially bothering since other than that door, there didn't appear to be a way out of there!

The man would turn around and face Kuro, looking at him with hard, beady black eyes. His face was that of a rectangle with rounded edges, his nose bulbous and jutting out from his face. His mouth was obscured by a large, bright red, mutton chop mustache which ran up to and connected with his sideburns which moved up to his bright red hair, the sides of which were shaved short while the top was kept fashionably long and messy. He was muscular, that was easy to see, his chest puffing out even without his having to do anything. He wore a dark grey long sleeved jacket, the cuffs of the sleeves rolled up, and he left it unbuttoned to show a white shirt beneath that. He had on a pair of dark navy blue pants held against his waist by a black leather belt and his leather boots were polished to a mirror shine. Nothing about his appearance immediately screamed danger, but if Kuro took a moment to think about it he'd come to a startling question; How did such a big man manage to get into the room so quietly that a ninja couldn't have noticed him?

"I see that my concerns were not unwarranted," the man said, his voice cavernous in tone. He shrugged out of his jacket and pulled his arms out of the sleeves one at a time, his bulging muscles like boulders strapped to tree trunks by a tarp of skin. Holding the jacket up for a moment, he dropped it to the floor and clenched his fists, his knuckles cracking. "Let's begin," he said simply and would step forward, beginning to cross the divide in the room between him and the much smaller Kuro.

Downstairs, Aimi turned and looked up towards the top of the walls that were still left standing as men with bows and arrows took aim at him. Aimi wasn't the biggest fan of those who chose to fight their battles at a distance like that. He didn't quite have the same disdain for it that he held for genjutsu, but what fun was it to be so far away from your enemy when you took them down? To the bare chested jounin there was none. As the arrows were fired off, Aimi would leap forward from off of the pile of rubble on which he stood, leaving the peculiar arrows, which he took no notice of for the time being, to sink harmlessly into stone and putting him out of their line of sight for now as he landed in the shadow of the fort inside. They would likely be a problem he had to deal with later but for now he was content in ignoring them.

As he landed on the stone floor and looked up, he saw the two dozen men approaching him with weapons drawn, ready to stop him in his tracks like all of the rest of the rabble had been on this mission so far... except that these men were all surrounded by an aura of blue chakra. Aimi's whistling stopped and his face fell into a relaxed state of attentiveness. These two dozen men could use chakra and that instantly made them more dangerous than anyone else he'd fought thus far... except perhaps for Akiko, who he had gotten the drop on to largely neutralize her threat. The danger was increased all the more by the fact that he didn't know exactly what those cloaks of chakra around them did for the men.

His attention was drawn away from the group of two dozen as a voice rang out above him, loud and boastful. The white haired man took notice of the black haired one, imagining from his position, his confidence and the way he handled his blade that he was likely the strongest out of the bunch. If Aimi was a betting boy, he'd say that the man could use chakra as well. He turned his gaze away from the black haired man and back to the two dozen in front of him. Their weapons were varied and to what extent they used their chakra was unknown to him... the jounin decided to play it safe, channeling his chakra throughout his body and creating a thin layer of bone between his skin and his muscles as quickly as he could, reinforcing that bone further afterwards.

The signal was given for the fight to begin and all two dozen men rushed forward, confident that their numbers and use of chakra would give them some edge in this conflict against a man who had destroyed an entire fourth of the fortresses supporting walls in a single blow. Aimi stood still and let them come, gauging his opponents strength in the best way that he knew how to; by letting them hit him. The blows came in rapid succession to each other, the men who were able to crowd around Aimi first getting their chances to strike first. Blades struck Aimi's body at all angles, his chest, his back, his arms, his legs all struck. One man boldly went to decapitate Aimi, bringing his katana blade up directly to his neck while another man, the one with the seven pathed blade, went directly for Aimi's skull with the intent of cleaving it wide open.

There was a brief moment in which the thugs surrounding Aimi all thought that they'd succeeded already, that the conflict was over and they had done their masters proud. The moment didn't last. One by one they all realized that their spears, their swords, their blades - none of them had managed to do more than scratch the man they had surrounded. Blood seeped out of his shallow wounds but that's all they were; shallow. Not a single blade among them was even embedded an inch into his body. Even the two bold fighters who had struck at his head and neck were left dumbfounded as their blades rested against his body, the sword at his head only managing to make the long haired jounin's head tilt to the side - and perhaps give him a headache later.

"It's as I feared," the Yamai said, pushing his head back up to a straight position and pushing back against the peculiar sword resting against his head. "You're all schwache, kleine Männer." Some gibberish spoken, Aimi took his turn to act. Aimi further demonstrated his strength to the men all around him by flexing his entire body, the muscles underneath his armor not only bulging out by his arms and legs being throw out wide as well, knocking away the blades that had struck him and leaving behind only shallow cuts which, although they did sting, weren't enough to cause him any real distraction. His hands shot out and grabbed onto the first necks that he came across, grabbing onto them tightly before lifting their owners up and off the ground and bringing them slamming down to the hard stone floor below.

Much to Aimi's surprise, though, the men in his grip were left conscious after the blow! They looked up at him, in pain for sure but still fully awake. The rest of the thugs had all jumped back at this point to put some distance between them and the bleeding Yamai, whose body was already healing up the very worst of his minor injuries in a matter of seconds. He paid no heed to the men around him though, focusing for the moment entirely on the two in his grip. "Ha! Not quite so schwache after all, are you?" he asked, amused by this turn of events and thankful. "Oh, I can really waylay on you guys!" he said gleefully, lifting the men up from off of the floor roughly a foot before driving them back down, this time putting his full strength into the deed! The men in his grip were sent into the stone floor below, the stone cracking in spider web fashion as their bodies were embedded into the fort they had so honorably served.

Aimi stood up straight and looked around him, rolling his shoulders and flicking his wrists, his limp hands flopping about as he did. Aimi turned his head up and looked at the great sword wielding man on high, lifting his right hand up and pointing at him. He held his gaze long enough long enough that there was no doubt that the Yamai was talking about him before he pulled his index finger back and extended his thumb, rotating his hand so that it pointed down at the floor, as clear of a signal as he could have given to anyone that he, all the men around him, the men with bows and arrows on top of the fort and anyone else inside that he didn't know about didn't stand a chance. From where Aimi stood, they were the ants who had proved annoying enough to really rouse a sleeping giant, and the fight was only just beginning.

[Plotboard] The end of the Rabbit Hole

Post by TyDie » Mon Feb 19, 2018 1:01 pm

Kuro searched each room top to bottom, trying his damndest to find something, anything that could lead the two shinobi to the reason for the Kage Karasu's expansion into water country. eventually, after some looking he found a locked door. While he could have just smashed the door again, he decided that this time he wanted to be subtle and preserve his chakra. So, without much other choice, he pulled the wrapped up tools out of the hidden pocket in his clothing and unraveled it, retrieving the steel wire and flathead screwdriver from the tools before putting the rest away.

He then went to work picking the lock, which was a simple task that took maybe 15 seconds. Once he was in, he found plenty of papers scattered all over the place, and one which caught his eye for a moment... but he promptly crumpled it up and tossed it away. "Tch, 'we know'? Could this not be any more cliche? Next thing you know i'm gonna get kidnapped in the middle of the night... ooOOooOOooOo, spooOooOoky..." He chuckled to himself before he continued looking through the stuff, eventually finding the locked drawers. He went to work on the first one, but was swiftly interrupted... by the sound of the door locking.

Immediately his head poked up to see a giant man, bigger than Aimi even, standing there. The scariest part though... Kuro was not inattentive. His senses were some of the keenest in all of Kiri, and his vision still enabled him to see through the building. His attention was fixed on the lock for maybe five seconds at most... and suddenly he was locked in a room with some hulking behemoth. He hadn't heard him, hadn't felt him, and hadn't even seen him with his Hyouteki. That couldn't be luck... Were his skills waning? Had he dropped his guard? The thoughts ran through his head at breakneck speed, and were only brought to an end by the man's voice.

He would have to reflect on his failures later... With a snap of his left wrist, Kuro flicked one of his hidden kunai into his hand and tossed it all in the same motion, aiming directly for the man's chest. Attached to the kunai was a flash tag, though he would not Kai it. Simultaneously, Kuro's right hand reached into his ninja pouch and grabbed hold of a syringe, tossing it slightly after the flash tagged Kunai. The syringe would hide in the shadow of the kunai, hopefully making it that much harder to detect and dodge. Immediately after throwing the kunai and syringe, Kuro would begin a series of hand seals. The idea was that his attention would be drawn to the kunai, if only for a brief moment. That moment would serve as the moment he needed to prepare his technique... Either way, after tossing the kunai and completing his seals, he would take a step backwards. If the man saw that step, Kuro would slowly fade into nothing but a mere shadow, disappearing from sight entirely. Combined with his silence and the inability to sense his chakra signature, both granted by desire, and Kuro was effectively a ghost.

Let's see how he liked being snuck up on...

[Security Bypass]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Kuro has become an expert in bypassing security systems of all kinds, from locks to safes and even some forms of mechanical traps, and can do so without ever leaving behind a trace that they were tampered with. Picking pin locks or bypassing combinations takes little effort and at most barely any time, while opening a safe or safely dismantling a trap may require more time to work with before working them open. In the end the rule of thumb is the more complex the lock, the more time Kuro will have to spend on unlocking it. This doesn't allow Kuro to bypass any jutsu that may have been added to the safe, such as fuuinjutsu.

1x flash tag attached to smaller throwing kunai and hidden in a pocket in the sleeve of his Stealth outfit

1x syringes filled with his Cryomyalgia poison stored within his ninja pouch. Each syringe holds a single dose within it.
CryomyalgiaShow
A special toxin developed by Kuro with the teachings of Hideki and his father Roku, Cryomyalgia is a liquid based poison that must be introduced into the body through the blood stream. This almost neon blue liquid has an odor almost like that of blueberries, and when introduced into the body, causes muscle pain and muscle spasms as well as a chill across the body, resulting in a target losing -3 strength for 4 posts after it's induction. It's strength, however, is in an additional enhancing agent included in the mixture, allowing the poison to effect the target almost immediately after induction.

C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
By releasing two projectiles back to back the user attempts to create a decoy for the second. The first projectile is often larger or of equal size and the second is slightly behind and below it, usually attempting to hide in the first’s shadow. This masks the attack to some degree. However, perceptive opponents who have an instinct greater than the user’s tai may be able to see through the charade, provided they have means to do so.

[Flawless Aim Style • Syringe Depression]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 15 strength
By using an admirable amount of force, Kuro can throw one of his syringes as if it were a Senbon, tossing the needle like a throwing weapon up to his normal distance. Should the syringe make contact with something, the force with which it was thrown will cause the plunger to depress, emptying the contents of the syringe.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Uncanny Shot]
B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Having advanced in their arts the practitioner is able to launch projectiles from inconceivable positions. No matter what position their body is in they’re capable of releasing attacks without any detriment to their aim. In addition, rapid adjustments such as dodging or spinning has no effect on their aim.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Flawless Aim]
A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Having surpassed even the masters of ranged combat the adept is capable of calculating all outside factors before releasing their shot. Ambient factors such as temperature, winds, moisture, water and even total blindness to their target can not waive their aim. So long as they have a means of detection and nothing is in their path that can’t be forced through or gone around they will hit their mark every time. Living targets must have a (speed+tai)/2 higher than the adepts (tai+instinct)/2 to dodge the adepts attacks without having another form of defense.

[Genjutsu • One With Shadows]
B Rank Illusion Genjutsu
Kuro will perform the needed handseals before taking a step backwards. Anyone who sees him take the first step will watch as he continues to step backwards and slowly change from a shadowy figure to simply vanishing from sight by the end of the post. For the next 4 posts Kuro cannot be seen by those afflicted. Unlike the Shadowmeld technique, Kuro is fully capable of moving around without alerting anyone caught by the genjutsu. If he makes a hostile action towards a target, the genjutsu immediately ends. This technique lasts for 5 posts.

Outside, Aimi was making swift work of Raven's men, to the point that they were actually beginning to cower before Aimi's power. The shattered earth beneath two of their comrades and the shear destruction Aimi had unleashed upon the base were testament to Aimi's strength, and hesitation soon made it's way through the soldiers. "Oh no, don't you dare back down you cowards! The first man who tries to run or give up is going to get run through by me personally!" He scoffed at Aimi's supposed strength... perhaps a display was necessary.

Without hardly blinking, Raven lifted his gargantuan blade into the sky and gathered chakra within it before swinging it down into the tower at his feet. As he hit the tower, his chakra flowed down through the building and into the ground beneath Aimi's feet, rending the earth asunder and sending shrapnel and debris flying in all directions with breakneck speed and incredible strength. Even a few of the men were clocked by rocks, rendering them unconscious almost immediately. He then pointed his blade at the archers. "Reposition, get an eye on him and take a shot the moment you get it!"

The archers would loop around from stronghold itself to the walls of the fortress, or what was left of them. That would make it so Aimi wasn't able to simply hide out of sight beneath the stronghold walls... They'd take their next shot then, their strange arrows spiraling through the air towards Aimi's current position. A few of the arrows were struck from the sky by the sharpnel and boulders, but at least half of them made it through. How would Aimi deal with the earthen debris and the arrow volley?

Kuro's attempts at administering a poison to the behemoth of a man would prove futile as he barreled forward. With a simple raising of his fist and a swipe across his body, that large stone of a hand would smash into the tag-wrapped kunai and the syringe, sending the former flying across the room towards the bed and embedding itself in the wall with enough force to crack the stone while the latter shattered upon coming into contact with the back of his hand. He rushed forward, moving with surprising speeds for a man his size - and yet his movements were entirely silent. Kuro would be unable to hear any movement that the man made nor feel any vibration from the steps he took despite his giant size, making him a wraith in comparison to Kuro's ghost.

As the special jounin stepped backwards and disappeared with the aid of his genjutsu, the redheaded man continued onward, unperturbed. As Kuro was blending into the shadows, the shadow of the man came over him. He reared his right fist backwards, twisting his body in the movement and tensing up the muscles in his arm and shoulders, his speed slowly down in the moment between when he first twisted his body and when he unwound it, unleashing a powerful strike at the spot where Kuro had been that would send all of the things on the desk flying around the room regardless of if it hit the stealthy shinobi or not. Though Kuro might have been hard pressed to dodge the blow, given how quickly the man had closed the distance between them and the short window of time he had to move from his spot, should he manage to avoid it the giant's fist would come crashing into the desk behind Kuro with the force of a small meteorite, splintering it and sending the two halves of the desk careening towards the ceiling before falling down on the floor behind.

The smirk on Aimi's face was palpable as the big man tried to rally his troops, the Yamai placing his hands solidly on his hips and lightly chuckling. "Nein! Don't believe your commander's words!" he cried up, bringing his gaze back down from on high to look at the twenty two men around him. "The first of you that tries to run will be cleaved in twain by my blade! Make no mistake, meine Herren, niemand kommt lebend raus; nobody gets out alive!" His declaration made, Aimi began to prepare himself to enforce it, his hands moving to his blade at his side as he prepared to unleash it. Before he could, though, the black haired man made his move. The sound of his massive blade colliding with the tower of the fort drew Aimi's attention back up to him, only to follow the line of his blade down to where the unleashed chakra collided with the walls and floor of the fort, sending hunks of the structure flying up in the air!

Aimi reacted almost instantly, his body twisting as he unsheathed his blade and turned his eyes towards the ground, being mindful of where the hunks of the floor rising up were coming for him. As a piece directly beneath him came rising up he slashed, drawing his blade and striking upwards at it before reversing the direction and striking down, cleaving the hunk of floor into four pieces before re-sheathing his blade and taking a step back. Turning on the spot, Aimi withdrew his sword once more and slashed horizontally at a hunk of stone that would have risen up to strike him in the back of the head before once more re-sheathing his blade and turning to strike out again. Aimi was a flash of movement, white and steel silver as he slashed, cleaved and otherwise destroyed the propelled pieces of fort all around him until there was a small area around his person that denoted safety by means of exclusion.

'What a perfectly good waste of a fort,' Aimi thought to himself as he defended his person, his deadly whirl coming to a stop as he sheathed his blade once more and stood firm and straight, looking around him at the destruction that the black haired man had caused. 'They must have expected that this place would fall under siege and thus built it to be expendable... I suppose the same must go for the men, too,' he mused to himself, seeing how some of the chakra cloaked men fell pray to their commander's own attack, falling over either unconscious or dead, their chakra cloaks disappearing either way. Those that managed to avoid the attack or defend themselves were now at a small distance away from the Yamai, giving him some free space to move.

Aimi looked up as he heard his black haired adversary shout out more orders, his blue eyes following the direction his blade was pointing and realizing quickly what he was ordering. "You're not making this easy!" Aimi cried, spinning on the spot again and turning his back to the remaining chakra cloaked men in the room in favor of the light of outside and the archers who were scaling the walls, putting themselves into position to launch another volley at him. As he spun, he moved his body into his aggressive L stance, gripping onto his sheath and hilt tightly, his eyes darting from one wall to the next. As they unleashed their arrows, he unleashed his blade, slicing the air with such speed and intensity that it sent a nearly invisible wave of cutting air to meet and collide with their arrows, knocking them aside as it moved onward to cut into both the wall and the archers, their bodies falling along with the section of wall he cut. Immediately after he re-sheathed his blade and sent another wave of air to the archers on the opposite side, delivering to them and their arrows a similar fate with such speed it was almost simultaneous.

The archers and their arrows taken care of, Aimi once again swung his body around and faced his adversaries cloaked in chakra. Keeping his speed up, not wanting to lose the momentum of the fight, he dashed forward through the ruined fortress at full speed and dove forward towards the first of the armed men he came across, drawing his blade and slashing at him from hip to shoulder while simultaneously spinning his own body, launching himself through the air almost like a torpedo that left the cloaked man bisected in the area he cut. Landing in a hunched position on the ground on the balls of his feet, the Yami jounin turned and dashed towards his next foe, twisting his body similarly and slashing upward at him with enough force to send him flying backwards with a scream of pain into the earthen wall that still stood, embedding himself in it. He would continue in this fashion from one man to the next, moving as a white flash from man to man either bisecting them or sending them flying backwards until none were left standing.

When the last man fell, Aimi came to a stop and stood up straight. Keeping his blade unsheathed, the metal hardly speckled with blood because of how quickly he had been carving through his opponents and sending their blood flying from off of the blade, Aimi brought his left hand up to his head and swept his long hair out from his face. Pulling his hand back he saw that there were some droplets of sweat on his fingers. "Well would you look at that," he called out, turning and looking up once more at the black haired man. "You actually made me put some work into this!" Aimi boasted loudly, swinging his arm down to his side to fling the sweat from his fingers and stabbing the tip of his blade into the floor beneath him. He grinned mischievously and jeered, "Well, come on then! You're all that's left to kill, big man, so come here and die while you still have the option to do so quickly."

The Red Headed Man's Jutsu

*[Strong Fist Style • Thunder Leaf Fist]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
An attack that is slow to wind up but powerful in execution. The adept tenses every muscle in their shoulders and arms while twisting their core for a powerful strike. For the 1/4 post they spend winding up they're treated as having a -6 speed. However, when the strike is released it comes nearly instantly and at a +6 strength.

Aimi's Jutsu

*[Iaido • Double Back Draw]
C-Rank Kenjutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 15 Speed
The technique realizes the concept of a draw's momentum increasing attack speed rather than the technique of drawing itself. With this concept, the user draws their weapon and then makes an upwards slash followed by a second downward slash, and then an immediate re-sheath. This causes two deep diagonal cuts in the direction of the draw and re-sheath that happen near instantaneously.

*[Iaido • Line Draw]
D-Rank Kenjutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 8 Speed
The technique is recognized by its signature stance of one hand just below the opening of the katana sheath and the other firmly on the sword. Drawing the sword in one swift motion, the user creates a horizontal or vertical slash in front of themselves before sheathing the sword, often chaining these strikes together for greater effect.

*[Iaido • Breakneck Sheath]
B-Rank Kenjutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 25 Speed
Through incredible amounts of practice the user of this technique has gained such a vast knowledge of Iaido and their sheath in particular that they have perfected the art of sheathing their sword. As such, they can sheath their weapon single handed if need be, and can do so with the same blinding speed that they would deliver a slash with, allowing them to chain together attacks with even more speed than before.

[Iaido • Art of Drawing the Blade Posture]
D-Ranked Kenjutsu Stance
A basic stance meant to maximize one's efficiency and power when utilizing Iaido techniques. The user stands in a long "L" stance. The Forward foot is pointing towards the opponent while the back leg is perpendicular. The weight is evenly distributed between the 2 legs. The sword and sheath is attached to the belt on their hip. Their free hand holds onto the edge of the sheath, while their main hand readies itself near the Tsuba of the Sword. The main hand shoulder should face the opponent. Being in this stance keeps the user steadfast and ready to react, helping them to counterattack even when taken by surprise at the cost of -5 Strength. If the opponent's Instinct stat is 10 less than the user's Speed stat, it 'all but guarantees' a counterattack.

[Iaido • Dragon Strike]
A-Ranked Kenjutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: B-Ranked [Iaido • Dragon Strike]
The user steps forward with the front leg while unsheathing the blade in a horizontal attacking motion across the body. So swift is this technique that it is akin to a "flash", being impossible to see unless the opponents' Instinct is greater than or equal to the user's Speed. This slash creates a thin wave of nearly invisible air which cuts whatever it comes into contact with with 3/4 the user's Strength and travels up to a distance equal to the user's Strength in meters.

[Iaido • Purple Lightning Flash]
B-Ranked Taijutsu Manuever
Prerequisite: 30 Speed
The user stands with their hands on their weapon, body hunched forward and feet lined up with each other, facing the opponent. The user dashes at full speed towards their target, waiting until they are right in front of them before falling. Using the momentum of their fall to their advantage, the user will unleash their blade in a diagonal slash that runs from hip to shoulder at the very last moment. In that moment, the user twists their body when drawing the blade to add more torque to the attack as well as end up behind their target, where they will sheath their blade. This attack is so fast that it can be perceived as a blur.

[Iaido • Sakura Twister]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 15 Speed
The user rushes towards the opponent, leaning their upper body forward as they do and quickly unsheathes their blade in a vertical slash. While performing the attack the user will spin their body with the attack, giving the slash full momentum and power. This attack is able to knock an opponent backwards through the air at a distance of the user's Strength stat minus their target's Strength in meters.

The shear speed that the colossal man charged forward towards Kuro was astounding, and even more terrifying was the fact that he was completely silent. No tremors, no sound, no nothing. Like a ghost, he dashed across the space between them, and Kuro had nary a moment of time to react to the attack. Being that he was relatively sure the guy couldn't see him, Kuro would dive to the right to slip past him before he attacked where Kuro was standing. Luckily, he was entirely silent as he hit the ground, thanks to the muffling effect of his cape. He couldn't help but shake his head in annoyance as the man split the table too, sending papers flying all over the place.

But luckily, he was lost in the room now, totally obscured. Unless this guy had some kind of tremor sensing like he did, he'd be totally imperceptible. In fact, just to make sure he couldn't do that, Kuro would leap up to the ceiling and stick to it with the Act of Tree Walking. Kuro would then channel chakra throughout his body and condense this chakra within his hands, forming a series of Kunai. But unlike normal, he would not throw these Kunai... No, he would dash across the ceiling and aim to drive two of the five Kunai into his shoulderblades.

Doing so would no doubt alert the guy to his position, so next Kuro's cape would unclasp itself from his back all on it's own. As Kuro jumped backwards to put more distance between him and the guy, his cape would move forward and aim to wrap around his face. This would render the guy blind, and also prevent him from hearing anything through the muffling effect, if it was successful. He'd then toss the remaining three Kunai at the guy as quickly as possible, all the while gathering a large amount of chakra within his body, much more than the last jutsu. If successfully allowed to gather all of this chakra, He'd then funnel this chakra into one of the Kunai embedded in the guy's flesh

That particular Kunai would suddenly begin sprouting into large, jagged spikes of ice, tearing through the man's body at a slow but steady pace. If all worked out for him, he'd be dead in an instant... But he had already surprised Kuro once. There was no telling how he'd handle this assault.

Kuro channels chakra throughout his body and puts one hand above the other, their palms facing each other. He then funnels Hyouton chakra into his hands, freezing moisture in between his hands to create 5 projectile weapons made entirely of ice. This is capable of making anything such as Kunai, Shuriken, Senbon, Arrows, or anything else that would be seen as a throwing or projectile weapon. Whatever is made bears the same sharpness as a real weapon of the same kind, but can only handle up to 5 strength before breaking, and last for 3 posts before melting back into water.

[Arctic Impalement]
B-Rank Ninjutsu
Kuro will channel chakra throughout his body before funneling this chakra into an existing ice creation of his choosing. This ice will then violently expand in all directions into 5 meter long jagged spikes, moving at a rather slow pace of 5 but with a strength of 35. This is especially useful when used on ice embedded in a target's flesh, as the target would be impaled slowly, but with incredible force.

Raven could only smile and chuckle to himself as Aimi went about ending what remained of his forces. Well, they'd done as he instructed at least; they drained the bastard a little more and tired him out. The men lay dead along the floor, some killed by shrapnel and debris and some split apart by the various attacks that the Yamai had launched against them. The archers were especially dead, turned to gore against the shattered remains of the walls torn apart by his techniques.

"Tch... Keine Chance." The man spoke out before placing his second hand on the hilt of his blade. A moment later, Aimi would probably be rubbing his eyes... The man's blade split in half, shifting from a giant double bladed greatsword to two single bladed greatswords. He popped his neck for a moment before leaping high into the air, then he proceeded to 'kick' off of the air. He descended to the ground like a meteorite, his body catching fire for an instant before he impacted the ground with both swords drawn in downwards slashes. The earth was rent asunder by his slash, a smoldering crater forming where he landed, and large chunks of debris and dust filled the air all around him. Not only did the split earth threaten to cause Aimi to slip under the ground, the shaking of the earth would make standing difficult, let alone movement. The debris also threatened to cause some serious damage, and worst of all, the dust obscured the man for a few moments.

When the dust cleared, the guy was shrouded head to toe in chunks of earth, hardened by his chakra to form a powerful armor. All that was visible to the Yamai would be his eyes, and small holes around his ears so he could hear. "Come on then, come try me!"

[Plotboard] The end of the Rabbit Hole

Post by Golnax » Wed Feb 21, 2018 4:50 pm

Fortune, or solid training, seemed to be on Kuro's side as the blow from the man's fist collided with the desk and destroyed it, leaving the young Aisu unharmed. His silent movements made it so that the man didn't notice him as he jumped up to the ceiling and prepared his attack. Instead, the massive man stood still for a moment before slowly turning around. "Where have you gone to?" he boomed, the deep bass of his voice reverberating around the room as he looked around for any sign of Kuro. "There's no use hiding, little man. You won't leave this fortress alive and with what you seek, not with Raven and I here," he said, stepped forward slowly with his fists raised, ready to strike the moment that he sensed Kuro in the slightest.

That moment came when Kuro dashed forwards on the ceiling and drove the two kunai into the man's shoulders. Letting out a grunt of pain, the muscle-bound behemoth turned on the spot and swiped his right arm up and around, that tree trunk of a limb barely missing the special jounin's position. Desire came and wrapped itself around his face but would not remain there for long. The man's left arm came up and grabbed the semi-sentient cape, gripping it hard and ripping it from his face in one fell swoop, throwing down the shreds to the floor and leaving the cape with a fist shaped hole in it. Turning and looking up at Kuro, the red haired giant reached back and grabbed the kunai made of ice from out of his left shoulder, shattering it in his grip. In that moment, Kuro activated his jutsu.

The majestically mutton-chopped man's eyes went wide with pain as jagged spikes of ice bore through his body, goring him through his shoulder and piercing him through down to the floor, the ice easily breaking through the floor and jutting out into the room below them. For a second it would seem as if that were that and his foe were defeated, however that second would pass as the man glared up at Kuro and flexed his upper torso, the sheer force of his muscles clenching against one another causing the ice to shatter and crack. He wrenched his shoulder from off of the broken ice spikes and smashed his right fist into the pillar, his left reaching up over his shoulder and crushing the remnants of the kunai on his back, leaving his wound sealed by the ice itself. "You'll need more than that to deal with ME!" the man said, rushing forwards towards Kuro with his arms outstretched, attempting to grab onto the young man and yank him down from the ceiling. If successful, the giant would swing Kuro around in a circle three times before slinging him across the room to collide with the wall above the bed with enough force to embed the Aisu in the hastily fortified wall.

Aimi watched as the man's giant sword split into two, about as surprised as he could have been by the fact that his enemy was now wielding two blades against him. Not that it would matter, though. In Aimi's experience, those who wielded larger blades were often compensating for the fact that their swordsmanship was sub-par, using what should have been a tool for cutting like one would use a war hammer or a mace. What was much more of a surprise, though, was how the man descended down from his upper perch. The moment that he perceived the man was on fire, Aimi knew two things. This black haired swords man was either just as physically strong as he was or stronger, and that he needed to move.

An instant before the black haired man made his impact on the floor, Aimi leaped into the air, jumping diagonally to his left and keeping himself airborne while the impact tremors ran through the fort. In nearly the same instant, still before his opponent's swords came into contact with the ground, Aimi withdrew his own blade from the floor, swinging it wide and sending a cutting wave towards his opponent that made contact with him the second that he came into contact with the floor. The Yamai couldn't tell if his attack had any effect on him, though, as he leaped through the air and landed against the western wall, using Act of Tree Climbing to keep himself steadied on the wall. His vision blurred with the force of the black haired man's twin strikes and the floor was ripped asunder. Aimi could have potentially pulled off the same feat, but not with as much ease as this man seemed to have done, leading the sharp eyed jounin to conclude that this man he faced had to be physically stronger than he was, though he was still certain that he was undoubtedly faster.

Re-sheathing his blade, Aimi dropped to the floor once the dust had settled and saw that his opponent had a similar, although less elegant, idea of combating his foe as he had. The sight of the large swordsman, covered head to toe in earthen armor made the shinobi smirk. "Oh I see!" he called out, genuine excitement building up in him. He stood up straight and faced his foe. This wasn't going to be a confrontation like the one he had been forced to endure when he ended Akiko, oh no! This was the sort of fight he lived for, the sort of fight that he could prove his clan proud by! An honest to goodness one on one duel, might against might with both opponents standing on equal footing! He the stronger and bulkier of the two while Aimi the more nimble and formidable. "I see now that I must break you! You're not just some disposable minion who can lay over and die when the moment needs them to, you're someone of honest strength and fortitude! FINE THEN!" Aimi roared, delighted by the frankness of his enemy!

The bare chested man charged forward, moving so quick that a circle of falling dust was left in his wake as he closed the distance between him and his earthen armor clad opponent, his right arm reared back and his fist curled into a tight ball. His charge ended with the smaller man standing in front of the earth clad swordsman and Aimi throwing his arm forward with all of his might, attempting to drive his fist with enough force into the man's gut that it would send him flying backwards against the western wall if it didn't break his armor entirely. Keeping up the pressure, Aimi would dash forward once more and attempt to drive his fist in and upper cut to the man's gut, slamming his hardened bone into the same spot he had struck before and lifting the larger man up into the air. The white haired streak would continue on by leaping up into the air over the body of his foe, raising both arms up over his head and slamming his fists down against the armored swordsman's back, using all of his strength so that, should the blows connect, it would send the man back down to the floor with enough force to create a crater just as large as what he had made earlier in the floor. Aimi's goal was not just to test out his opponent's armor but also to put on the pressure and force the man onto the defensive.

Jutsu UsedShow
[Iaido • Posture Master]
B-Ranked Kenjutsu Stance
Prerequisite: 25 Taijutsu
Some practitioners of Iaido wear their blades horizontally on their lower back. Others wear their blades vertically on their back. For these practitioners, there is this stance. Using this stance, so long as the user has a perceptible sheath to return their blade to, even if that sheath is the earth itself, the user may use Iaido maneuvers from any stance.

[Strong Fist Style • Charge]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 10 Strength
The user dashes forward with their dominant arm reared back, ready to strike. The distance the user can dash forward is equal to 1/2 the user's Speed stat. Once at the end of this dash, using their momentum, the user will throw their arm forward in a punch that is capable of sending a target flying backwards.

[Strong Fist Style • Rising Star]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 10 Strength
A counter strike technique, the user will wait for an opponent to strike at them before side stepping and/or ducking out of the way and performing a strong upper cut punch aimed at the gut with all of their strength.

[Strong Fist Style • Star Fall]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 10 Strength
This technique can only be used while the user and their target are in the air. Ideally used in combination with a technique that sent an opponent up into the air, the user will rise up into the air after their opponent through whatever means and raise both of their fists up into the air above their head before bringing them both forward, hammering their arms into the target and sending it falling towards the ground.

Kuro reached for a smoke bomb on his belt as the man burst forth towards him... Truly, Kuro could scarcely believe the fucker was alive after that. That jutsu was made as an execution method, never before had anyone survived it. It had entirely ripped apart his arm, rendering that effectively useless, yet still he charged like a bull after him. He did indeed grab his smoke bomb, but not before the guy grabbed him by the neck. Gasping for air, Kuro was slung around like a ragdoll, the shear force of the spins enough to cause most men to black out solely by emptying his brain of blood.

And the throw, oh god the throw... when he hit that wall, it felt like every bone in his body had snapped. Many of them actually did, including his c7, whch left his legs totally paralyzed. "This could prove disastrous for both of us child. We protect you, you protect us... If you wish to live, come up with something fast." Gah... workin on it. Get to work, let me worry about this bastard. Kuro silenced the Queen as best he could, shaking his head before realizing that this man was making his way towards him step by step now.

He had one shot at this, life or death...he shifted on his arms, crawling a little and repositioning himself so that he was sitting up against the wall. A cough would fill his mask with blood, which he promptly ripped off of his face. His right hand was behind his back, feeling around to remove the top off of his quiver. Deep labored breaths came from his lungs, and blood trickled down his chin. By all accounts, Kuro was finished. That's right... a little closer... Come on, come get me.

Finally he was close enough that Kuro believed there was no way he could reasonably react. Now! Kuro's hands immediately shot up into a single hand seal, performing the Kai technique to activate the flash tag hanging above his head. As soon as it went off, Kuro's right hand shot behind his back for an arrow while his left reached out, and a moment later his bow extended out as chakra flowed through it. Finally, he would draw back the arrow and take a shot aiming right for the man's head, specifically aiming for the arrow to slide up and through his jaw and into his brain.
Jutsu UsedShow
*[Basic Jutsu • Chakra Kai]
E-Ranked Ninjutsu
A jutsu used with the purpose of activating seals and a range of devices and weapons, this technique begins with a single handseal. Once this has been performed, the user will focus a dollop of their chakra into what they are looking to activate in order to complete the task. Seals activated with this technique must be within 20 + (Control/2) meters of the user's position.

[Illusion of Pain]
A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After living with the immense pain that the Kessenchu put him through on a daily basis for over a year, Kuro's tolerance for pain has become so high that he practically does not feel it. To him, it feels like any other sensory input, such as hot or cold; He feels it, but it does not bother him. This enables him to deal with any manner of normally excruciatingly painful situations without succumbing to shock, or even so much as wincing.

Aimi's fight was going slightly better than Kuro's, as the dragon strike did indeed deal some damage to Raven. Not as much as he would have hoped however, the impact force from his drop created a small shockwave that took the brunt of the damage. The blow he took was hardly an inch deep; enough to draw blood and cause some pain, but no where near fatal. The barrage of blows would also catch the man, as he was much slower on his reactions with all that bulky armor. However, when Aimi was finished, he'd find that the man was still armored. The rocks were cracked, but they held strong, and the man within was virtually unphased. He lay in the crater for a moment, then he began to laugh as he pushed himself off of the ground and back to his feet.

"Hahaha, you're a spry little ant aren't you! Well, you may be faster than me..." Raven smiled underneath all that rock armor before brandishing his blades. "...But I'm Stronger!" With a roar he charged forward towards Aimi, swinging his weapons this way and that with surprising agility. What was even more terrifying, though, was that each time he swung the blades, pressure waves not too unlike Aimi's own dragon strike would flash out. Not nearly with the same strength or range as Aimi's own, more or less they would cause him minor cuts and bruises if they hit. But the fact of the matter was that they would at least give him pause in theory.

After delivering about a dozen slashes, hit or miss, he'd take a step back before readying his blades; one in a reverse grip and one in a regular grip. He'd then smile underneath the rocks and spin rapidly in place like a top, causing all of the air in the area to swirl around until he was practically a tornado. This spinning would cause a sort of vacuum effect, threatening to pull Aimi towards him if he got too close... or if Raven got too close. A moment later he rushed towards the Yamai, threatening to slash him to ribbons.

Kuro's gambit would pay off. As the red haired giant came barreling across the room, intent on finishing the job by crushing the young shinobi's skull, he neglected even then to notice the flash tag attached to the kunai in the wall about Kuro's head. As he reached out with his one good arm to finish the deed, Kuro kai'd and sent the blinding flash of his trap off. The behemoth's eyes went wide and he flinched, letting out a roar of protest as his pupils shrank and his eyes snapped shut, left hand moving up to his blinded eyes in pain as he took a staggering step backwards. Kuro's shot was clean and true, the arrow shooting out and piercing through the soft underbelly of his opponent's square jaw and up into his brain. He went still, his roaring ceased. He reached down with his left hand and grabbed at the arrow beneath his square jaw, looking for a moment in disbelief at what he was feeling. Then his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he fell down heavily onto the floor on his knees, turning and falling onto his side in front of Kuro. He was slain, and not a moment too soon.

Aimi landed on the ground some ten meters away from his opponent and assessed the damage he'd done. His breathing was heavy, large gusts of air filling his lungs through his nose and exiting through his smiling teeth, the effort from this prolonged conflict beginning to weigh on him. He could see that his efforts were not entirely in vain though not quite enough as they had been. Cracks had appeared in the armor but it still maintained itself, meaning that the barrage he had inflicted hadn't been sever enough. Worse yet, it seemed that his opponent had ultimately been unharmed by his attacks. He could practically hear the laughter in his voice as he spoke... and it honestly made Aimi giddy to hear!

"PROVE IT!" Aimi roared, throwing his arms to the side and clenching his fists as an open stance towards his foe, and invitation to try and harm him. As he rushed forward and brandished his blade at Aimi, the Yamai waited for him to get close to him before pushing his right foot forward in between the earthen clad man's legs and throwing his upper body backwards to avoid his initial slash, his eyes seeing that his slashes were sending waves of cutting air forth to effectively extend his range. While still bent backwards, Aimi spun his body around, his legs intricately weaving in between his opponent's until he ended up behind him, facing his back. This wouldn't stop his attacker from pressing the attack, though, the armored thug turning his body and slashing at Aimi who side stepped the attack and prepared to once again dance around his opponent by pushing his leg forward. This dance between them continued, with Aim ducking, dodging, weaving and spinning around his foe, using his nimble body and advantage in speed to out maneuver each and every one of his foe's swings, until the man jumped back to prepare his next attack.

Aimi sneered at him as he began to spin around like an absurd brown top. "Tsch! You're not strong!" Aimi declared loudly, shouting out over the sound of sucking air as he could feel it's pull trying to suck him in towards those deadly blades, his hair pulling itself forward over his shoulders and temporarily blocking his view. Leaping back several meters, roughly twenty five, and putting his back at the rubble that remained of the entrance to the fort, Aimi crouched down into a sprinter's position, right foot pressing back against the rocks behind him. The suction of his enemy's attack was much less at this distance than it had been where he was at, giving him space to work with. "I'LL show you STRENGTH!" the Yamai roared, and expression of animalistic joy on his face as he shot forth like a bullet from a gun, sprinting headlong into the bladed tornado without a trace of fear on his face!

Using the pulling force of his spin to his advantage along with his own momentum, Aimi lunged forward, diving forward feet first in a baseball slide at full speed and colliding with the ankles of his spinning adversary. The collision would undoubtedly cause him to tip and fall forward, seeming for a moment as if he were going to fall on top of the bare chested shinobi and crush him or tear him to shreds like a blender. Were it not for Aimi's superior speed it might have been so. As the man was falling, Aimi threw his arms back and slammed his hands against the floor beneath him, his fingers digging into the stone to help stop his momentum as he drew his legs back, scraping his knees against the man's armor in the process - not that it slowed him in the least, though. He pulled his legs up to his chest and then sprang them upwards in a powerful donkey kick to the armored man's torso with enough force that the dust from his blow was sent in a burst away from them and send the dual wielding swordsman upwards into the air.

Aimi pursued him, pushing off of the floor and landing on the balls of his feet before rocketing up into the air after the black haired swordsman, meeting him up in the air. There came a moment of eye contact between the two foes that lasted for the duration it took Aimi to rear his fist back. Then his barrage began, the white haired jounin unleashing a devastating barrage of pummeling punches that set his fists ablaze. Swift and mighty were his blows, echoing out a low base against the fortress with such force that they could not only be felt throughout the fortress but heard as well. Fire lashed out from Aimi's fish and shot off of the man's stone armor, the protection crumbling away bit by bit under the continuous, devastating barrage of his attack until none remained and Aimi was free to devastate his opponent's body, catching any clothing he would have been wearing on fire along with that black hair of his.

Only when all of the armor on the man's head and torso were gone would Aimi finish his assault, driving his fist as hard as he could against the man's chest and truly sending him back down to the fortress floor below like a meteorite as he had so imitated before. As Aimi landed on the ground not far away from the crater that he had made with the man's body, he stood and held his shaking fists still beside him as best as he could. He'd pant heavily and try to keep his bleeding fingers from twitching. All of the skin on his knuckles had been torn away by the assault against that stone armor of his, exposing the blood covered white armor of bone underneath. His knuckles, like his knees, would heal momentarily but for the moment they stood as an example of the sort of effort he had expended in his attack, his chest heavily rising and falling serving as another. He honestly couldn't remember the last time that he had been in a confrontation this physically demanding of him, and now that it was done and over with...

Aimi spat on the ground in front of him, frowning and letting out a sigh. "That's such a shame... in the end, I didn't even need to draw my sword on you.." he lamented, his voice shaking from the adrenaline still pumping in his veins. He could feel it blood pumping through the arteries in his neck and he knew all too well that the feeling would soon fade, and he wished that it wouldn't. Opponents like this black haired man were so hard to come by in his profession... His task completed, Aimi turned and headed further into the fortress to look for Kuro. He figured that the special jounin should be finished by now.

Jutsu UsedShow
[Strong Fist Style • Spin]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
A simple close range evasive maneuver, the user waits for an opponent to attack them before moving their dominant leg behind the opponents' back leg followed by the user's other leg as they spin their body around the side of the opponents', ending with the user facing the opponents' back. This technique is used to make an opening for the user to attack the opponent.

[Strong Fist Style • Morning Peacock]
A-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 35 Strength and Speed
The user launches the opponent into the air with an upper kick to the chin or through other means and then leaps up after them. The user then strikes at the opponent with their fists, each strike being so fast that the speed and friction causes their fist to be set ablaze. The user punches the opponent repeatedly, creating a peacock-like fan of flames as each strike connects. These flames set the opponent on fire. Once the user is finished, they will send their opponent crashing back to the ground, covered with the attacks' flames.

Kuro was still breathing heavily, even as the bastard hit the ground with a solid and heavy "THUNK". He was still fully paralyzed below the waist, but thankfully the pain was easily ignored. He'd been through worse, much worse... But there was still the matter of those papers. Kuro, determined to get things done, would crawl over to the remnants of the table the bastard destroyed, propping himself up so that he could finish what he started. Using the rigid wire and screwdriver he had dropped on the floor. It took a few seconds, but he got the first drawer open, and then the second and third. The first one was filled to the brim with money... money he would gladly confiscate. Without Desire to function as a bag though, he'd have to stuff his ninja pouch with some, and his hidden pockets with more. Then Aimi could take the rest when he showed up... if he showed up.

The second drawer held a lockbox filled with stolen jewelry, no doubt stuff that was taken from the women they kidnapped before they were sold into slavery. In his mind, just more payment for the job. But the third drawer had exactly what he wanted to see... A letter. A letter written to Raven, telling him that he had followers within the org that would defect with him to create their own branch of the Kage Karasu. It even gave him details of the island that would serve as the HQ, and instructions on how to go about it. Whoever wrote this had an intricate understanding of water country, and an understanding of where Kiri usually focused their attention. The letter was written by what he could only guess was a lover, as the bottom was signed with a heart. And the signature... why did she give a signature? What a dumbass...

Toukai, Masako. Bingo.

Outside, the combat became more 'heated' to say the least, as the donkey kick that launched Raven into the air shattered what remained of his armor. As he rose into the air, clumps of broken rock fell off of his body, the chakra that made up the jutsu no longer able to hold it intact. As he rose into the air however, the only thing he could think to do was toss both of his greatswords away from him, both flying in the same direction towards the front of the decimated base. After tossing them, the barrage began, and his body was battered and seared by the various punches thrown by Aimi. When he went for the final blow however, that momentary pause as he prepared to launch him to the ground gave him the time he needed to form a couple hand seals.

When Aimi launched his punch, what he hit instead of Raven was a large chunk of rock; remnants from the base. On the ground now, next to his weapons, Raven stood resolute with singed skin and blood trickling down his chin. Both of his hands were already on his blades again, and he slipped them back together into a single weapon again. "Ha, you don't have me yet! But now... I have you!!" lifting the weapon, he would reel it behind him before smiling and launching a giant wave of destruction towards the man, still floating in mid air after his assault. He'd be hard pressed to avoid it while floating in mid air, or so Raven thought anyways. If the hit connected, the slash would tear into his skin and leave multiple deep gashes along his body, only barely being stopped by Aimi's bone armor.

'A substitution. He'd used a substitution?' Aimi thought, the only thing he had time to think as the not battered and burned swordsman launched his attack at Aimi. The jounin had enough time to turn his head and face the attack as it collided with him, hitting him in the back while he was still falling from the air and tearing through his skin. He was launched across the room from the force of the attack and collided with a wall further into the fortress, bouncing against it before falling down to the floor. He groaned in pain but the smile returned to his face. The fight wasn't finished yet evidently, and that was just as well for Aimi. He pushed himself up from off of the floor and stood up onto his feet, the wounds on his back and knuckles amounting to little more than flesh wounds thanks to the protection of his bone armor. Both sets of injuries would heal quickly.

"Impressive that you can still attack after taking the brunt of my Morning Peacock. You won't be moving much longer!" Aimi boasted. He rolled his shoulders and started to walk across the room towards the black haired man. Then he started to jog, then to run. Before long he was full on sprinting towards his foe as fast as he could. When he'd get within fifteen meters of the man he'd come to a skidding stop, assuming his L shaped stance in the process with his let hand on the sheath of his blade and his right on the hilt. Answering forceful strikes with forceful strikes, Aimi would unleash his blade in a blinding flash, sending a wave of air to cut into the man as he performed another Dragon Strike. Being just as quick to sheath his blade again, Aimi repeated the technique four more times before once more sheathing his blade and dashing forward as quickly as he could.

Whether the Dragon Strikes met their mark or not, Aimi would rush forward towards the man until he was directly in front of him. Crouching down and rearing his right arm back, the Yamai would leap up into the air and unleash a mighty spiraling uppercut aimed to strike the greatsword wielder in the chin and launch him up into the air with Aimi. Should the punch land, Aimi would grab onto his sword once the two of them had reached the apex of their rise and bring it ripping across the man's chest. With but a few twists of his wrist and swings of his arms, the long haired shinobi would slash through his throat, his legs, his stomach, chest and hips before sheathing his blade once more, the entire succession of strikes taking just under a second to perform. From there, should all go as expected, he would land on the ground, panting heavily and, should all go uninterrupted, watch as the sliced pieces of his foe's body fell down onto the rubble in front of him.

Jutsu UsedShow

[Strong Fist Style • Rising Dragon]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 15 strength
A counter strike technique, the user crouches down on the ground with their arm reared back and tensed up, waiting for an opponent to try and strike them before springing up into the air and throwing their arm upwards in a spiraling upper cut. The distance the user rises in the air is equal to 1/2 the user's Speed in meters.

*[Iaido • Execution Draw]
A-Rank Kenjutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 30 speed, 30 Taijutsu
In a single moment, the user of this technique delivers a series of six blindingly fast slashes, all aimed at specific vital locations. First the user unsheaths their blade in a diagonal slash aimed to bisect their chest, then using the same momentum for the next five slashes, twists their wrist to bring the blade back across the stomach, throat, thighs and chest before finishing the assault with a slash aimed to bisect the pelvic cradle before immediately resheathing the blade in the same motion as the final slash. By twisting the wrist and maintaining momentum throughout the combination attack, each slash is made as if the blade had just been unsheathed, and the entire attack occurs in less than a second. If even one of these slashes land solidly it could easily prove to be fatal.

Truthfully, Raven was a bit surprised that Aimi managed to survive that attack so easily, but then he saw the ossified bone surrounding his body beneath his skin. Sneaky bastard had his own set of armor... Aimi stood up, and Raven grimaced, clearly upset that one of his most powerful attacks hadn't done the job. But so be it, he'd end this in one more strike... if he could survive this next assault. As Aimi ran towards him, he ran towards Aimi, keeping his blades bound together as he intended to use another technique just as strong as the last one.

The first dragon strike he would leap over. The second one he would sidestep. The third one came at him diagonally though, and there wasn't much hope of dodging it... His only choice was to hold his greatsword up like a shield, it's wide blade serving to prevent the air pressure from hitting him directly. Of course, this meant he didn't really see the second or third ones, but he blocked both of those too. But the third one hit his blade, and a sudden "CRACK' rang out. The blade had been cracked, and the weapon was pretty much done now.

In a fit of rage he tossed the broken weapon aside, and just in time too... just in time to take a direct punch to the jaw. Instantly his jawbone was shattered as he was lifted into the air by the force of the blow. Once airborne, there was little for him to do... When the attacks landed, at first Raven hardly felt them, a sort of merciful end all things considered. A moment later, he literally fell apart into gore and body parts. Aimi had bested his foe; The Kage Karasu had no more presence in Kiri, his mission was complete. But what about Kuro's?

Aimi watched as the black haired man's head rolled on the floor towards him. He lifted up his foot and pressed down on the man's forehead to stop it from rolling. Looking down at his dead face, his chest rising and falling heavily from the effort he'd put forth to defeat not just him but all the rest, Aimi was suddenly filled with a sense of regret. In the heat of the moment, he'd forgotten to ask this man his name. It'd been such a long time since he'd faced an open, honest warrior who fought the Yamai without any sort of tricks or traps, just honest to goodness skill against skill. He felt a deep respect for the man he'd just finished slaying not only for that but for his ability to actually put up some semblance of a fight against the battle hardened shinobi. The others he'd killed had his respect as well but to a much smaller degree, that is those who had fought him openly in combat like the two embedded in the floor or those he had left as bisected meat. Even the archers deserved to be praised for following orders in the wake of such an adversary as he. Each and every one of the men and women, if there were any women among them, who had died that day deserved the jounin's respect, though none more than the man who now lay under his feet.

He was saddened when he lifted his foot up and turned to go look for Kuro. He stopped only by the glint of sunlight against something in the rubble. Curious, the Yamai turned back around and stepped forward, avoiding all of the blood and the gore he'd caused so that it didn't get soaked into his bandage wrapped feet. Climbing up the pile of rubble, he came across one of the arrows that had been initially fired at him. He pulled it out of the rocks and looked it over, turning it in his hands to examine it. It's shape was peculiar and cruel looking. He had a feeling that this was important so he held on to it as he turned back and hopped down off of the pile of rocks and walked back into the fortress. His footsteps were the only sounds left to be heard. All else was quiet and after the loud clashes of bodies against steel, after the twang of bows and arrows, after the roars of battle and the crackling of stone, after the quakes of giants clashing against one another, the near silent echoes of his foot steps felt deafening.

"KURO!" Aimi shouted, his voice echoing down the halls of the now quiet fort. He was grateful to himself for the noise. "Where the HELL are you? We're done here! Have you got what we were after!?"

Kuro had just finished going through the final drawer, filing the note away by the time Aimi's voice rang through the base. "I'm Here! Keep going, you'll see me!" He'd call out through the base, knowing full well that if anyone else was left alive they either ran, or were too scared to run. Once Aimi arrived, Kuro would look up at him from the floor, still crawling around on his hands and dragging his limp legs behind him. "...Really wish you didn't have to see me in such a humiliating position. Fucker back there snapped my spine, legs will be paralyzed for a few more minutes at least."

He nodded his head over to the dead body, the hulking man who had ice spikes running through his arm and an arrow sticking out of his skull. The room looked an absolute wreck, but sitting a few feet from Kuro was the drawer, filled with money as well as the lockbox full of jewelry. "Spoils of war. Cash is yours, we split the jewelry. Also, found what I was looking for. So assuming you killed the big bad leader, mission accomplished." Kuro was still clearly tired, drained entirely by the short but intense fight he had with his enemy. It'd be at least a few more minutes before he could carry himself out, so Aimi was either gonna hang out with him for a few or throw him over his shoulder like a ragdoll... He sincerely hoped it was the former.

Hearing Kuro call back out to him from the second floor, Aimi quickly found a staircase and made his way up it. He was in no rush to get to him per say, he was arguably more exhausted than what his team mate was in that moment after all. He made his way steadily to the door that Kuro was behind and reached for the handle, jiggling it and finding that it was locked. Letting out a heavy sigh he reared his leg back and smashed his foot against the door next to the handle, sending the knob flying inwards and the doors swinging open bat-wing style. Stepping forward into the room and holding his arms out to the side to stop the doors from swinging, Aimi took a quick look around and saw what there was to see in the room. A mess of papers and splintered wood. Kuro laying down on the floor and crawling. Another giant of a man, bigger than the man he'd fought, laying with an arrow in his head and ice in his shoulder. Given the Aisu's lack of physicality, he had to admit he was impressed that the young shinobi had managed to prevail.

Aimi looked down at Kuro as he spoke and nodded his head in understanding. It was never any fun to have your spine broken. He glanced over at the drawer full of money and then looked back down at Kuro. "What do I need with jewels and money? I can get pretty much anything I want for free back at the village anyways," he said, a declaration of his decline to take the cash reward plundered from the dead. "What happened to your mask and cape? He get rid of those, too? Hmm... you know, you don't look half bad with that mask off. You should keep it that way," he said, stepping forward into the room and walking over to Kuro's paralyzed body. He knelt down beside the special jounin and ran his hand down his back, pressing his fingers against it so that he could feel where the break in his spine was. "Hold still," he ordered, finding the break in his spine and channeling his chakra through his hand and into Kuro's body, his chakra working to ossify his bones and repair the damage that Kuro's red haired opponent had caused, the damage being healed near instantly, relieving the burden on Kuro to let his parasites fix himself.

With that done, Aimi removed his hand from the Aisu's back and let out a tired sigh, reaching up and running the back of his hand over his sweaty forehead. He really was getting tired. He'd used up quite a bit of chakra during this excursion, and though he wouldn't say by any means that he was exhausted, as he could still walk just fine, the extra effort he'd put in just then to fix his partner's spine was truly a gesture of utmost kindness on his part - especially considering that he could have healed himself, given enough time. "There, you can walk again," he said, standing up with a groan. "Go pick up your cape or whatever and let's head back to the boat. We're finished here. It's time we got back to the village to report our success in eliminating these criminals."

Jutsu UsedShow
*Death Bone Pulse • Bone Healing
A-Ranked Ninjutsu
By channeling chakra throughout their own body or that of another the user causes the bones of those affected to ossify, completely fixing even the worst breaks in a short time, by concentrating for an entire post the user is even able to replace lost bones though this comes with the risk of being left incomplete if interrupted before then.

Kuro raised his eyebrow at the man's decision to turning down the money... fine, more for him. The help with his back was definitely appreciated too, he would hold still and let the Yamai's chakra flow into his spine to finish the repairs. "Would've fixed itself... but thanks. Makes this quicker." Kuro let out a sigh as he stood back up, twisting his back and cracking his neck before shacking his body out, clearly happy to have full control over himself again. "Took the mask off cus I coughed up blood after I hit the wall. Trust me, trying to breath through a bloody mask? Not easy. But don't get used to the face. The cape..."

Kuro Channeled some chakra into the remains of the cape, causing them to flutter over to him slowly. "Shredded. It'll repair itself before too long, no worries. Gotta love chakra capes." As if there were any more in existence that were even remotely as powerful as Desire. Kuro would reach down to grab the drawer full of money and the lockbox of jewels, carrying the remains of his cape under his other arm. "Yeah, lets get out of here. Like I said, mission accomplished." Kuro would then lead the way back out of the room, heading back towards the initial entrance to the place and exiting to the carnage that Aimi had caused.

"Well shit... I guess Kiri picked the right guy for the job."

Aimi followed Kuro out of the room and down the stairs to the main hall where he had wreaked all of his havoc. The compliment, while appreciated, only earned the Aisu a quiet grunt from the Yamai as confirmation that yes, yes they had. Now that he was with Kuro again though, his thoughts began to drift back to the arrow in his hand, to that Akiko woman and to the black haired swordsman he faced. Kuro needed to be made aware of these things before they left the island. No more delaying what he had to say. "Kuro, take a look at this," Aimi said, holding up the arrow and extending it out to him. "It's unusual. Never seen an arrow like it. These guys out here shot two volleys at me. What do you make of it?" he asked, waiting for the Aisu's assessment of the projectile before he continued.

"There's more," he said as they crossed the hall of dust and gore, stepping over cracked early and puddles of blood. "The guy I fought earlier, the leader of this place I guess, he wasn't ordinary. Neither were his subordinates. They had these chakra cloaks which helped protect them, cushioned my blows so that I had to go all out to take care of them as quickly as possible. Their leader was even more different. He used the substitution technique during our encounter. Kuro, you know that he couldn't have learned something like that on his own. The man had shinobi training."

He paused, having saved what could potentially be the biggest blow for last, unsure as to how the special jounin would react. "There's still more," he said solemnly as they climbed and hopped up over the rubble to get outside into the fresh, salty air. "That woman I faced before a couple of days ago, back in the prostitution camp.
She was an Aisu, Kuro. She had the same ice kekkei genkai that you have. I watched her use it. I felt her use it against me before I ended her in fire..."
He trailed off, giving Kuro a chance to take in all of this before he spoke the words that had been hovering in the back of his mind since his encounter with the black haired swordsman ended. "There's something else going on with these Kage Karasu guys beyond drugs and hookers. There's something deeper at work here..." With that said, he went quiet, setting his mouth to a hard line and walking straight back for the boat. He'd said what needed to be said and the words leaving him were like support beams being taken away from him. He felt very, very tired and he wanted nothing else but to sleep for a while.

So it seemed Aimi had a lot of new info to introduce to Kuro, the first of which was an interesting arrow. Kuro would take the arrow from him, holding it up by the shaft and inspecting the corkscrew blades. "Very interesting... These arrows are cruel beyond words. When fired, they'd essentially spin as the air flowed around them. The blades would tear a hole straight through the body instead of just a simple arrow shaft, and the serrated edges would ensure as much pain and damage as possible. These are not your average arrows, and using them effectively would require extensive training. Custom made using advanced techniques... I'd say probably an expert smith."

The arrows didn't prove much by themselves, anyone could have made them and it wasn't too hard to learn how to use them. But the ninja training... "Mhmm, I noticed the chakra cloaks on men who ran past me as I infiltrated, and the Kawarimi only solidifies the fact that these men were trained in the use of chakra. Could've been the Aisu that you killed I guess. Oh, by the way, the next time you kill an Aisu missing ninja you tell me immediately. If not for how thoroughly you destroyed her body, I would have had to dispose of it properly to conceal clan secrets. Don't leave details like that out, I don't care if you're my superior, that's clan business."

Getting Kuro's frustration out of the way, he moved past all of the gore and destruction and finally they were out of the base and on their way back to their ship. On their way home. But Kuro put together all of the information Aimi had given him, and combined it with the note he had read. "You're right, there is more going on. A lot more. This sect of the Kage Karasu, run by a man named 'Raven', was actually not the real Kage Karasu. This branch defected from the main syndicate and started their own operations here. Raven was convinced by a lover to do this, to defect and spread to Water Country. And my guess? The woman who convinced Raven to do this also taught him how to use chakra, and Raven taught his men. The good news is that Kiri has no more reason to pursue the Kage Karasu, in fact we probably did the real syndicate a favor by taking care of this. After all, they couldn't do it openly, that would have showed internal dissent and proved how weak they were."

This was all speculation of course, but Kuro had a pretty damn good understanding of the inner workings of missing ninja. He had hunted a few down already, in fact one of his first missions involved an Aisu missing ninja who had taken over a pirate group. "This woman, the one who tricked Raven into his death... She's a Toukai. She knew how Water country worked, knew which islands to send Raven's men to. She knew chakra, taught Raven. And all of this points to one thing; She doesn't like Kiri. So the question now becomes... why?"

Why indeed... They'd have to go back to Kiri and do some more research on this woman to find out. But for now at least, their job was done.
