A few days had passed sense Kokatsu had graduated from the ninja academy, and life seemed to be going on the same. He practiced from time to time and continued to help his mom out with the chores around the house. Life was easy and he even seemed to have more free time from his studies at the academy. However his new life was just about to begin. About three days ago a letter came in the mail, a ninja scroll really, branded by the Hirohito clan along with the stamp from the upper level parts of the city's central government. Inside was a finely written message, that was almost hard to read because of the formal way of writing, stating information of Kokatsu new team. The letter read;

Kokatsu Kokku Fushinkou,

We of the Hirohito clan congratulate you on completing the academy, and we are eager for you to continue your training. You will be paired up with another shinobi recently graduated, Aisu, Chiaki. You two will work together in order to prosper for the city and the Hirohito clan. Along with your rival, in which we have specifically chosen, you both will receive a mentor. Picked as we see fit we have tasked Hiraki Rai as being both of your instructors.

Meet on this coming Monday, the training field B2 will be open at 8am

Kokatsu read over the scroll a few days prior to the specified meeting time, and figured the other shinobi in the group would have gotten the same information, as the letter was quite generic. Instantly he noticed the name Chiaki, the ice wielding clan that was also positioned in the Hirohito clans control. He did not know much about their powers, as he stayed relatively close to his own clan throughout his life. Really only that it was the ability to control ice, and mostly what he had heard was story of their speed. Hopefully there's alot for me to learn from her, along with my mentor as well, Hiraki Rai. I wonder what experience a shinobi of his stature will have. He threw the letter down on his desk and decided to go train as the sun was setting somewhere outside of the fog. The only thing that really stayed on his mind was the time of the meeting, for Kokatsu was not an early riser, but seeming that this was his first responsibility as a shinobi he could not be late.

The day of the meeting arrived as Kokatsu eyes shot open a little before eight. Hurrying to get ready to meet his new comrades Kokatsu threw on his normal attired as he grabbed a uncooked piece of bread and his cloak before running out the door. He at the bread as he walked from his house through the mostly sleeping city and the dense fog of the morning as he made his way down the path to the training facilities that he almost knew by heart at this point. Turning down a few roads outside of the main market area he was at the facility, and easily jumping the fence he sat down at a bench positioned by the main gate of B2. Waiting for his new teammates he finished off his bread and looked out into the fog of the morning, over the mainly rock terrain smoothed over my years of training and countless other shinobi who came to the same place looking to make a good first impression.

Just a simple letter really, a plain white envelope with her name written on it and nothing else. You wouldn’t think it would mean anything really, it was the most common sight that you could have in a household, her family sent our letters everyday exchanging messages with the other members of the clan, with the Hirohito family and with their contacts outside of the village. A common everyday object that no-one would look twice are, if not for two reasons, the first, the large Kirigakure stamp and the slightly smaller Hirohito stamp and the second the fact she’d been driving everyone in her household crazy while she was waiting for it. There were only so many times she could ask the slaves if the letter had arrived yet or complain about how long it was taking before even her parents snapped at her to just wait or take it outside somewhere and out of their hair. Now though, now it was here. Chiaki hadn’t been able to bring herself to open it at first, turning the envelope round and round in her hands, as if she could some how sense the contents of the envelope by just holding it up to the light. That might have gone on for hours, days even if her grandmother passing by hadn’t pulled a Senbon out of the air, threatening to ‘open that letter if she didn’t stop playing around’.

The message had been simple, a plain notice to inform her that she’d been assigned to a team, assigned a rival to work with to work against. Kirigakure’s tried and tested system of ensuring the best ninja progressed while those that couldn’t handle it never got further. It might be more than a little tough, a little cruel but it had worked for the village so far and now it was her turn to play the system. So there she was, in the very start of the day, the weak sun just starting to claw at the morning mist that hung over the village. It was her favourite part of the morning, the day just coming alive with potential, untold questions about what the day could be. The girl had grabbed a quick breakfast before heading towards the meeting point, hoping to be the first one there, the first member of her team to arrive. Sadly her hopes were unfounded as she pulled up at the gate to training field B2, a young genin was waiting by the gates, staring out at the village, the smooth stone of the training grounds stretching out behind him. “Kokatsu?” Well at least it looked she wasn’t too late to the meeting.

A letter. That's what awaited Rai when he turned in the report for his latest mission. A simple white envelope, indistinguishable from any other of its kind, save one one thing. The seal on it was that of House Hirohito. One of the five Principle Families of Kirigakure.... and the one he was currently contracted to. He'd inherited his contract from his parents, who'd served the House faithfully for years before their deaths. It only seemed natural for him to follow suit. He carried the letter home, wondering what it could be about. Usually, they were formal things, detailing shares collected from missions, or simply asking him to take part in one related to the house, most of them being escorts or information gathering. He thought one of them would be something like that. It wasn't.

Once inside his home, he sat down on his bed, and took out a kunai, cutting open the top of the envelop and took out the letter, reading it:

Hiraki Rai,

House Hirohito has watched your progress as a shinobi, and have not been disappointed with the results. You've proven your reliability and capabilities on mission, and have represent the House well as a contracted member. It has been decided that you have displayed the responsibility and maturity to mentor others, and thus, you have been assigned to watch over and train two recent Academy graduates from our bound shinobi families. Aisu Chiaki, and Fushinkou Kokatsu. We look forward to seeing their growth under your tutelage.

Report to Training Field B2, Monday

He flipped the letter over, checking to see if anything else was written. Nothing, but the seal of the Hirohito. So he was a mentor now? How had that even come up. His family was nothing special, considering he was the last living member of it that was known, and his skills as shinobi were average at best, save his knowledge in genjutsu. And now he was expected to watch over two green shinobi, both being from bound families of Hirohito? He fell back on his bed, considering it. There wasn't much he could do now.

On the morning of, he ate a light breakfast, and prepared his gear, before heading out. It was after 8 when he set out, though there was no exact time that was given for them to meet, he decided the earlier the better. It was a short transit from his home to the training grounds, since he used the rooftops of the buildings to tranverse the province quickly. By the time he arrived near the gate, he saw two people already present. Hmm... they must be his subordinates. He leapt down from the rooftop he was on, and walked towards them from the entrance.

Kokatsu sat patiently at the bench, going over some thoughts of what his rival would be like, as well as mindless racking his brain on ideas for jutsu. The fog seemed to let up as the day went on and before he knew it he was caught off guard. His thick train of thought lead to not noticing the girl walk up next to him until she spoke his name. He looked up and paused for a second as she stood in front of him. “Oh yeah, you must be Aisu.” kokatsu stood up to formally great her as he reached out his hand for a handshake, “I’m kokatsu Fushinkou nice to meet you. It's nice to been assigned a rival so fast after completing the academy course.” Kokatsu caught a look at the girl while waiting for a response. She was nice looking, taller than him so he had to look up to her while they talked, but he was into that. Her dark hair stuck him with a subtle sense of beauty. "Damn, with my hair and yours we could be like salt and pepper, the dream team of seasonings." As they made chit chat some time went by. Koktasu didn't really know how good he was at first impressions, but hopefully his rival would hate him, he hoped.

As they sat around it became apart that the time was a little after eight and passing by. In an attempt to keep whatever conversation going Kokatsu stumbled into pointing out the obvious, “Our mentor seems to be running a little late, eh?”

Chiaki reached out, her slight hand grasping Kokatsu's as she curled her fingers around his hand, inclining her head at the young man across from her. "Aisu Chiaki," she introduced herself, letting a small smile tug up the corner of her lips, a slight smile, cool amusement dancing in her eyes. "My friends call me Chiaki though," her family called her Chi, but that was a little too familiar for someone she'd just met, someone who was supposed to be her rival and opponent as much as her teammate. Still, it didn't hurt that he seemed nice enough, smaller than her but not gangly or unwieldy. Still, he had a sense of humour, his observation about their hair brought a genuine smile, unbidden to her lips as she felt good humour slipping past her guard, "well, simple but effective, you can't do better than that right? Everything else just adds onto it."

Without thinking, Chiaki reached up, brushing back her hair, tucking a long strand behind her ear. "You're right," bright blue eyes danced away, sweeping across the space around them. "Yeah, just a little, not what you'd expect from..." her voice trailed off as she nodded at the older boy making his way towards them, "well...looks like he's here."

Rai approached the pair of Genin in a casual stride, taking the time to make his own observations. The two looked a little bit younger than him, maybe one or two years. About the age he himself took his Chuunin Exam. They also seemed to be starting out on good, friendly terms. That was one of the ways these rivalries would start. Some right from the start made themselves out to be fierce competition, while others worked together to get stronger, till the eventual Exams. Still others, not knowing the full purpose for the teams, became to close, and as a result hurt their chances in the Exams. Rai and his rival had been cool to each other at best. Not outright hostile, but not the the types to invite each other out for ramen. Though, after the Exams, and the years following, they'd become something like friends.

"Looks like you two have already gotten to know each other. Cool." He said, as he finally reached them. His hands were in his pockets, and he had a relaxed look to him. His tone was even and calm, not outright tired, but seemingly like he wasn't far from it. "I'm Hiraki Rai, or Hiraki, to you two, I suppose." As their mentor, he needed to keep some distance from them. He could be friendly, to a degree, but he knew all too well what the endgame of this team would be. "As of now, we will be known as Unit Two. I have a couple of ice breakers for us... taking turns, telling a little about yourself. Kokatsu, you go first." He looked towards him, expectantly.

As Chiaki talked it was hard for him to gage her as a rival. She seemed nice and somewhat of a teammate from the second he meet her. She responded nicely to the comment he accidentally blurted out, even though it still was something un-formal, leaving a bad taste in his mouth after he said it. I wonder why Kirigakure has the genin pair set up this way. I know it's to make us stronger, but giving us an enemy sounds a little stupid, what if we just become friends. I guess they do that to make you sever bonds with friends, still somewhat of a stupid concept in this day and age. Nevertheless Kokatsu waited patiently for the leader of their group as he enjoyed the company of his newly appointed enemy.

Kokatsu took notice to the third person in their party walking up to the training field after Chiaki pointed him out. He had a nonchalant air around him as he approached with his hands in his pockets, not caring for the time in which the meeting took place. He was taller then Kokatsu, a theme running with the rest of his team, but he paid no attention to it. Looking at the man, he seemed stronger then the two of them in some ways, but at the same time seemed like a shinobi who was learning through this process of having pupils to train. Kokatsu liked this system, even though he knew in the back of his head he would never be the type of ninja to take on the role of training new recruits, or leading a team in any sense. As he approached he introduced himself and to as Kokatsu guessed it was their new leader, Hikari. Too Kokatsu surprise after introducing himself the shinobi directed a question at him, instead of sharing a little about himself, or giving order to them right off the bat. Not to say that Kokatsu wasn't prepared for this question as it was a common first day activity with all events that thrust a bunch of people into working together.

Kokatsu looked at the shinobi for a moment before nodding his head once as he began to talk. Nice to meet you Hikari, I am ready to learn under you. That sentence felt a little awkward as it came out, he wanted it to reflect the power that Hikari had, but with the limited knowledge of the shinobi he stumbled through his introduction. My name is Kokatsu Kokku Fushinkou, but you can call me Kokatsu. I have recently graduated from the academy and aim to be a high level ninja, along with continuing to expand my knowledge of the world and knowledge. His lack of knowledge showed as he slipped up and was not able to find the word that he wanted to use to express what he was feeling. Kokatsu knew that he wanted to be strong, and be a great ninja, but at the same time he wanted more, to experiment and discover new things that could lead to a better world for both shinobi and the common people. My father was a shinobi and I want to follow in his late footsteps. Currently me and my mother live together and share a good life for those in my clan. Also my clan that is the Fushinkou clan, even though its a little obvious. I hope we can all work hard on being great shinobi for Kirigakure. Kokatsu was satisfied with the ending of his introduction, he felt that he didn't leave out too much, but kept some things to himself that might help him in the long run. He was starting to get the sense that even though this was his team, Kirigakure would one day pin them against each other, weather he accepted the rules in place or not.

Chiaki inclined her head at Rai as he approached, not speaking but letting her blue eyes dance over his frame, cataloguing away what she saw. He was tall, standing at least a full head taller than her with the kind of build you could only get through years and years of hard training, a ninja’s build. The confidence in his gait spoke of someone who had gained experience in himself and a confidence in his ability, just what you wanted from a ninja and a team leader. He might not have been a Jounin, but the way he took charge of the situation seemed to be a good sign. Of course, he was probably far more powerful than either of his charges…at the moment. That was something she’d have to work on, close the gap but for now, she was happy to learn anything she could. It was the best way, from those more powerful than you observe and learn until you reached the point where you had nothing more they could teach you.

The girl transferred her gaze to Kokatsu, her erstwhile rival, as he started speaking, started introducing himself. She had heard of the clan, you couldn’t live in Kirigakure without hearing about the major clans, especially when they were linked, however unwillingly, to your own Great Family. Kokatsu wasn’t exactly what she had expected though, he seemed a lot more earnest than the other ninja she’d met before. That…wasn’t exactly a bad thing, it would certainly make getting along with him much easier. In the end though this team was a path to a showdown and she wasn’t sure if it would be easier or harder to fight someone she got along with. It might be nice to have a friend who wasn’t a member of her family but, that wouldn’t stop her from giving it her all. Even as she ran through the thoughts in her head the girl nodded as the boy introduced himself. As the others turned to stare at her expectantly the girl straightened, gathering her hands at her waist as she bobbed her head forward in a short bow. “I’m Aisu Chiaki,” a wry smile touched her lips as she turned her blue eyes up towards the others, a spark of amusement dancing in the blue orbs, “a member of the Aisu family.” The girl straightened, smoothing down her tunic, “I want to be a ninja my family can be proud of, to be able to leave my mark on the village,” and maybe if she was very lucky carve out enough room for her to be herself and not have to worry about what the others in her clan thought of her. A mischievous grin danced across her face, “Since we’re doing the whole introduction thing, one day I aim to lead my family,” if she was in charge then no-one could say anything if she decided to spend hours playing her violin, perfect logic. “I’ll be in your care and I hope we can all work together and get along,” she finished bobbing back down into a quick bow.

He listened patiently to each one's introduction, noting their looks, tone of voice, etc.., to get a read on their moods and personalities. Neither displayed any sort of aggressiveness or standoffish behavior. They were both polite, almost too polite, if that was really a thing. The Fushinkou seemed the adventurous type, always looking to get out the village to get at the larger world. He'd have to be careful with him, those types sometimes blinked when the world looked back. The Aisu, true to their reputation, was reserved and calm, maintaining their signature icy facade. Easy enough to work with, both of them, but he was really interested in their talents.

Both the Aisu and Fushinkou held kekkai genkai in their bloodlines, and Rai was interested to know if they had managed to learn any of the techniques related to them yet, despite being recent graduates."So you want to follow in a parent's footsteps... and you want to lead your clan to greatness?" He said, gesturing to the two of them. "As good a motivation as any, though I also would have accepted 'amassing great power', or 'becoming Mizukage'. He let off a small smile, before walking past the two of them, towards the open field. "I'm not so sure if you are aware or not, but the way the Genin system works in Kirigakure, is that you are assigned a rival after graduation. Someone you work with, go on missions on, that sort of thing. Like the teams you'd find in any other villlage. Where we differ though... is that ultimately, it comes down to you or them. Whether you become a Chuunin or not, is based on whether you can beat them in a combat match." He paused at the edge of the field, before looking back at the two.

"So I thought, what better way to introduce you to the system, than an introduction spar."

Kokatsu listened to his new team talk, as Chiaki seemed rather nice, and she seemed determined. He thought this was a really good quality in a person, especially as a teammate. Hopefully they could both grow to great height and one day achieve their dreams. Though they would have probably grown apart by that time. He wondered why though her dream was to lead her family, Kokatsu understood wanting to help the clan, but why lead when you could fight for them. He shrugged it off, maybe thinking she more wanted to protect people then fight for them. After she introduced herself Hiraki gave them a little introduction to the way of life as a shinobi. Kokatsu new how the battle and genin system worked but he bursted the awkward bubble, letting everything be out in the open. Somewhat of a weight felt like it had been lifted with the group from this. He also comment of what other acceptable dreams could be, one being to achieve the rank of Mizukage, in which Kokatsu thought was a stupid and fool hearted dream.

Furthermore he ended the speak with an offer to spar. A spar huh. Damn I might lose pretty bad, I just know the basics of the academy still, I don't know how prepared I would be for battle. He glanced over at Chiaki, With he being from the Aisu clan she probably already knows some of her clans jutsu. She must know some. This will be an uphill battle, but if there is a way to win I’ll find it. Kokatsu, not wanting to seem hesitant or weak to the challenge spoke up, It was still quite early in the morning though, but there was nothing he could do at this point to stop it. A spar sounds nice, seems like the perfect way to me to get to know one each other, along with our fighting styles. He looked back to Chiaki wondering if she would want to spar as well, it's not like it would be too serious, surely if someone got hurt they would stop.

In the end, it always came back to the struggle between two Genin didn't it? That was such a gigantic part of a genin's life in Kirigakure that it coloured everything you did. Ever a first meeting, a supposedly friendly interaction between teammates came down to the fight, a chance to one-up one another. Still, ever since the academy that's what life had been and she really hadn't expected it to change anytime soon, she just hadn't expected it to rear it's head quite so early. Even so, she couldn't deny the fact that she was more than a little curious about the boy who had been assigned to be her rival. Aside from the fact that he was a member of the Fushinkou clan she really didn't know all that much more about him. Would he be a close range or long range fighter, would his preferences clash with her own or...the girl caught herself and offered Rai a wry smile. Ok so perhaps this wasn't the worst idea ever, they wouldn't know how they meshed, how one another thought if they didn't fight and trying to face off against their superior, might not be the best idea. Imagine the punishment he'd levy when they actually managed to beat him.

Letting her hand drop down to the weapon's pouch on her leg, delicate fingers flicking open the catch holding it shut as she rested those digits on the cool metal inside, as is she were drawing solace from the cold unyielding metal. "That doesn't sound like the worst idea in the world," she allowed with a gentle bow of her head. "I assume we go till you say stop...and I promise not to hurt you...too much." The black haired girl winked playfully at Kokatsu before she caught herself, schooling her features into an expressionless mask. You didn't want to give anything away, the slightest touch of doubt and emotion could be seen by an opponent as a weakness to home in on. It was a lesson that her clan had made very clear growing up, trust and friendship were to be earned not given, as much as she felt the opposite way. Rolling her shoulders Chiaki let her blue eyes flick back to Kokatsu, examining her rival as she slowly stepped away, opening up a distance between them. It was only fair that they star,t separated...after all she wouldn't want to fall prey to a sneak attack she didn't see coming. "When do we go?"

He allowed a smirk to emerge across his face. "Eager. I like that energy, let's see how long it lasts." He stepped in the distance between the two, looking from one to the other, gauging their expressions. Chiaki seemed ready, or at least looked to be. It was hard to read the expression of a Aisu when they didn't want you to. Kokatsu, on the other hand, looked a bit off. Maybe he wasn't expecting something like this, so early, and so soon? Either way it would make for a accurate representation of their bare skills, with no prep time.

"I'll call an end to the spar when I think one of you has had enough. Or both. On my word." He brought his hands together, and performed a string of hand seals. The fog of the morning began to thicken, rising into the air and becoming almost solid, as it grew into a mist that blanketed the training area. Chiaki and Kokatsu would soon lose sight of each other, and then of Rai himself, as he seemed to meld with the mist. "Go." They could hear his voice say from somewhere nearby.

The mist started to surround them almost instantly after Hiraki performed his jutsu. I guess we're starting then. As the smoke started to surround them Koktasu wanted to distance himself from his once teammate, not already turned enemy. In order to keep his distance he would be able to learn some of her ability, while thinking of what kind of strategy it would take to defeat her. Almost immediately he jumped backwards from where the three were standing and reaching into his pocket he activated the seal lining them, pulling out a single shuriken. He threw it at Chiaki, trying to get her to distance herself from his as well, but not wanting to really hurt her or anything.

Once landing a few feet away, the mist had already seemed to fully cover the battlefield and the figures standing a couple feet from him were hard to see. I guess this is the fighting style of the mist, using cover all around one. However this might work to my advantage in the long run. He began to form seals and then activated Minds-Eye, letting his sense of sight fade away into a secondary means of perception, allowing the jutsu to take over and being able to full direct the two forms of chakra in the heavy mist.

This sensor jutsu is used by shinobi to feel chakra sources within a radius of 25 meters. While this jutsu is fairly helpful in sensing chakra, it is unable to actually pinpoint specific chakras outside of 10 feet. This only gives the Shinobi an idea of how many entities with chakra are present in their general area.

The mist quickly filled the arena obscuring her teammate from sight, the damp clammy touch of the vapour clinging to her skin as Chiaki's blue eyes darted around through the vista in front of her. She'd practised with this technique before, knew it herself, but that didn't make working through it any easier. The girl's breathing seemed to slow as she let her eyes drop half shut, focusing entirely on what she could hear and feel, there had to be something...there. The all to familiar whistling sound of a shuriken cutting through the air was all it took for Chiaki to throw herself to the side, hoping she'd chosen correctly.

Apparently, she had, the projectile dancing off into the distance as the girl hopped back a few paces, her hands coming up to the chest as she pursed her lips in consideration. She couldn't fight her opponent like this, not while she couldn't see him. So there was only one choice left, she had to find her opponent to engage him. Her hands flashed through a series of seals even as she sucked in a deep breath, she could feel her Chakra building in her lungs. Releasing the pent-up air Chiaki let it blow out with all the force imparted with her chakra, the expelled air pushing away the mist in front of her as she peered intently forward watching for Kokatsu.

By performing the needed hand seals and bringing their hands to their mouth, the user can release a wide blast of air. This wave of air moves outward in a cone shape with a 15m width at the end of the cone and moves with a speed of 10. Once it makes contact with a substance, the wind both cuts at it and pushes it away with 10 strength. This blast goes out for a maximum of thirty feet if it doesn't hit anything, where it will dissipate into the surrounding air.

Kokatsu could see the jutsu now of his teammates through the mind’s-eye jutsu, he watched as one of them began to form hand seals and use a jutsu. Instantly he knew that that was Chiaki, just based on the fact that she was the one seeming to be fighting, while the other mass of chakra was standing idle. Then almost right after he had taken the time to use Mind’s-eye a gust of wind hit his chest. It wasn't much of a blast, as the wind seemed to have died down once it came in contact with Kokatsu, leaving it only to feel like a little push against his chest. Looking up however he was able to figure out what the jutsu had been used for, and it seemed to serve its purpose for the time being. The mist around them had shifted from the blast of the wind, as open air laid between him and Chiaki. Well shit, looks like my little edge in this fight is gone. However this air flow should dissipate soon, and unless she continues to use Fuuton jutsu the mist might just come back. Now to start to plan a counter attack as of right now I know she can use Fuuton jutsu, and i'm still assuming her clans jutsu as well. Of course Kokatsu didn't have much time to think and went about being active while trying to formulate a winning statagery. With Chikai being able to see him in plane sight, and showing she has ranged attacks he decided to throw out his original plan of distancing each other, and went head on.

Kokatsu gathered himself before pulling out his short sword from his waist with his right hand, while with his left hand he dug into the back punch and pulled out a smoke grenade. After pulling each out he started to run towards Chiaki, wanting to attempt a simple downward slash with his short sword. However before this while running he slipped the smoke grenade in his pocket, not wanting to use all his tactics in the beginning of the match. This wasn't his best plan but he had no idea what he was up against, so preparing for the worst or best of the situation he shot at her with a burst of speed faster then what he was running towards her and prepared to strike with his sword.

A cold smile ghosted around Chiaki's lips as she saw the mists blowing back revealing Kokatsu. For a moment her teammate seemed surprised that she'd managed to uncover him, a shocked look that quickly morphed into a focused look as he recovered himself, the boy's hands dropping to his waist as she caught the glint of a blade behind his hands just before he launched himself forward at her. It wasn't like he was leaving her much opportunity to think as he sped towards her. This time Chiaki didn't even try to hide the cool smile that spread across her face. If he wanted to play that game, play in at close range then she'd accommodate him. She was equally happy playing at all ranges, and this was a better way of understanding what he was capable of than just staying at range and throwing Jutsu at one another. If they were going to be relying on one another in missions it would help to know how one another would react when it came down to a close range fight, and more importantly, if she had to face him later, then understanding a baseline wouldn't be a bad thing at all.

Bending her legs the teenager threw herself forward, legs blurring across the ground as she reached for the small blade tucked into the back of the sash wrapped around her waist, spinning it in her hands, the blade catching the sunlight beneath her hand as her fingers flashed through another series of seals as her blue eyes stayed glued to Kokatsu as they barrelled towards one another. Where there had been one girl now there were two, each of them curving off to the side to encircle Kokatsu as they flashed towards him, twin blades catching the sunlight as they slashed at the boy.

Kikatsu plan was F’ed in the A, he watched it fall apart before his eyes as Chiaki jumped towards him. He was being beat in all sides of the battle, she was faster and seemed to know more jutsu. As he ran towards her he watched what she was doing however, even if it was going as plan Kokatsu made sure to still be calm. He watched Chiaki weave the seals and a clone emerge beside her, taking note on which was the clone and which was fake. Eventually the clone seemed to be faster then Chikai reaching striking distance only a moment before her. This might not be a regular clone, guess I’ll have to test it out. The two Chiaki’s came crashing towards him both slashing at him, both weapons coming in to draw blood. They spent a second circling around him and gave him time to think and react in order to dodge their attacks. He stopped running and planted hard, they seemed to both be going for one strong hit. He jumped up into the air the last second he could wait, it may have been a little early because of Chiaki and the clone both seeming to be faster then him. He reached into his pocket with his open hand and gave his best attempt to throw two shurikens at the real Chiaki. However that went wasn't the most crucial part to this, as Kokatsu main focuses was the clone. His jump sent him flying over the clones head as he tried to swing at her head in the air but missed as he was trying to do to much in one fluid motion. Still he feel behind the clone, landing a little bit awkward from the jump, but only stalling a second before slashing at the middle of the clones back, using both arms to try to deliver a strong hit.

At this point in the fight Kokatsu mind was racing, he thought that his jump had saved him for the time being, but Chiaki could have something else up her sleeve. He felt that he was severely lacking in jutsu, specifically offense style attack to fight back with. He wanted to help his team, and fight with tactics and analytics, but if he were to find himself in a real one on one battle, death would be immentent as he is now.

Idk if I even have to put this, but this is where Kokatsu got the shurikens from;
*Fuuinjutsu • Tool Storage
D-Rank Storage Fuuinjutsu
After drawing a seal formula on a surface, appropriate in size to the weapon being sealed but no larger than 3x9 inches, the user forms the needed hand seals then may place as many of that singular object into the scroll as desired. When done, the user performs another set of hand seals and touches the seal closing it off as the seal condenses to the shape of the object stored. This seal is the only known sealing applications that allows depth storage and unfortunately this cannot be done at larger sizes. Tools can only be released at a maximum of 10 at a time, and are released with zero force.

For the briefest moment, Chiaki's eyes widened in surprise as Kokatsu threw himself into the air, the two short sword blades flashing underneath the boy as he took to the air. Both the clone and Chiaki spinning across the floor as the metallic blades slashed through the empty space ones filled by Kokatsu's body. Chiaki had hoped that the presence of two combatants on the field would be enough to confuse her opponent, allowing her to quickly overwhelm him. That didn't seem to be the way this fight was destined to go however as she watched him twisting in the air, wrenching herself to the side as she saw the metallic glint of shuriken's dancing through the air towards her. The girl's hurried movement had been enough to drag her out of the way as she heard the whistling of the metal discs cut through the air near to her cheek. Even as she danced across the ground she saw Kokatsu twisting in the air, his blade lashing down at the clone as she forced herself around, one hand resting on the rough surface of the training arena as she pushed forward. Her blade caught the light as her feet pushed off the ground, the blade thrusting towards Kokatu's back as a cold smile just tugged at her lips.

A sharp pain ignited like a blazing fire in Kokatsu’s side. He had Managed to cut through the water clone and deal some pretty heavy damage, but it turned out that the clone didn't seem to be the real threat after all. He looked down at his body and could see some blood leaking out along with a knife by his side. It seemed that his twisting motion helped him to dodge most of the blow, however chiaki’s attack still did some pretty significant damage. Kokatsu spun his sword around and sheathed it in one quick motion, then pulling off his cloak in order to look at his wound better he spoke to Chiaki, ”I give up, I guess you win this one. That was a pretty nice set of moves you had during the spar.” Kokatsu after looking at the wound for a second while talking realized that it wasn't as bad as he had first thought. Really the wound just hurt at the initial action of it being cut, but now as the pain died down he could see it's just a little guy, not a deep wound at all. He sat down by Chiaki and reached in his pouch for his needle and bandages, and began to sow his wound closed.

”So now that we got that little spar down I wonder what we're gonna be doing the rest of the day. To be honest that fight got my blood flowing this morning, I wouldn't mind seeing some more action today.” Kokatsu was finishing up sowing up his wound, he wasn't as good as his mom was at bandaging wounds up so it was a little clumsy done. He knew that his mom would have to redo the stitching when he got home. However it was sufficient enough to last for the rest of the day and he wrapped a bandage around it, and stood up once again.

Rai would again appear between the two, seemingly out of nowhere, and would promptly hold his hands together in a release seal, breaking his jutsu and causing the mist to fade away. Once it was mostly gone, he took a moment to look over Chiaki and Kotaru. She seemed mostly unharmed, with maybe one or two close calls, while Kotaru had a nice little knick to deal with. For the most part, the spar went how he thought. It told him what he had to work with.

Being a sensor, he was able to observe the fighting even through the mist, due to his ability to perceive and sense chakra. Chiaki had a knack for acting in reflex, a good ability to have as a shinobi. She was good as adapting to the situation at hand, and turning it to her advantage. Her use of the the Suiton clone was good, but a little off. If they didn't move in sync, then it'd be easier to tell which was real, as it seemed Kotaru had did. And speaking of him...

He was the inverse of Chiaki. He was always on the reactive side. Defensive. Not bad qualities, but really not suited for direct combat. Maybe more so a indirect role...

"A pretty decent fight, I gotta say. Kotaru, I'm sure I don't have to tell you this, but if this were real, Chiaki's last strike would've been fatal. You hesitate too much in the middle of combat. You won't always have time to think. He spoke in a neutral yet scolding tone, to emphasis his observations. "Chiaki, that Suiton clone was smart thinking, but off in execution. I could tell the difference between you by speed, just like I'm sure Kotaru could. If this were a real fight, you may be dead." He looked between the two Genin, holding the rest of his criticisms in for now, not wanting to bear down on the to so early.

"We have a lot to work on, but, eh, you two aren't completely bad. I'd give you a C+.

A C+, Chiaki felt the corner of her eye twitch up as she turned to face Rai as he appeared in front of her, almost as if he’d appeared out of thin air. Which as a ninja wasn’t outside the realm of possibility, appearing where you didn’t expect them was a ninja’s stock in trade after all. Slowing the girl straightened, her eyes dropping down to stare at the blade in her hands, it’s tip a wet red as a drop of blood slowly slid it’s way down the metal of the blade. Reaching into her pocket the girl withdrew a handkerchief, running it up and down both side of the blade to clean it off before she slid the weapon back into it’s sheath, with a small nod. “It moves faster than I can keep up with,” came the grudging admission, no-one liked to admit that they weren’t good enough but…to fail like that in front of her superior would be inexcusable for the clan.

Chiaki’s hand tightened around the hilt of her blade as her teeth worried at the soft flesh of her lower lip. She could just imagine her father’s face falling in disappointment, the pursing together of her grandmother’s lips. She closed her eyes, sucking in a deep breath before nodding at Rai, letting the fear of their reaction flow away with that breath. Her blue eyes settled on Rai as she held out her hands to her side, “Well then, I guess we’ve got a lot of work to do huh?”

Kokatsu took the little verbal beating at the end of their fight and didn't really think much of it. He was already going over the movements of the battle himself in detail of any ways in which he realistically could have done better than what he had. Mid-way through Rai’s speech Kokatsu stood up from tending to his wound. He was still listening to what his leader was saying, even though it was about Chiaki, so he was mostly in thought about the battle once again. If that was a real fight I would have been dead eh? I doubt that, but my side does hurt like a bitch, I should have thought out my moves, or even her moves better. I need to stay ahead of my opponents next time. Kokatsu put one of his arms over his wound and applied a little bit of pressure to were the cut was, hoping that it would stop the flow of blood more then his sowing and kickstart the healing processes. Rai had finished at this point and Kokatsu listened as Chiaki admitted her fault, which wasn't much of a fault, more or less something that can be used in creative ways.

Kokatsu followed her comment, jumping into the conversation, “I can say for myself I would have given me something a little less then a C+, so thanks for being nice on our first day.” Kokatsu spoke with a little bit of a relaxed attitude, however it seemed that Chiaki was feeling pretty tense about the entire situation. He watched as she grew a little mad even though she was clearly the better fighter from the battle. ”Yeah we got some work to do, but this is what these kinds of days are all for, so when the time comes for the real deal, well be ready.” How cliche of Kokatsu to say that.
