C-rank Sight Illusion Genjutsu
Doing a series of handseals, the user separates their hands and slowly lower them downwards palms facing down. Anyone who sees this will feel the ground soften below them, immediate. Each step will feel slightly weighted, reducing their speed by 1 stat point. Over the course of 4 posts, this reduction will increase by 2 points every stat. While this is illusion of force, it is easily masked as a ninjutsu technique and can be easy to deceive the target. Because the illusion of force is intended to be broken, and is not a static strength, overwhelming the genjutsu's strength will not break the technique, but the kai requirements for this illusion technique are reduced by 2 (Making it only 9 Instinct & 3 Genjutsu needed).

Shio stood in the small training room under his home. The compound he lived on actually had an entire underground system of rooms and chambers. Footsteps echoed through it, an acoustic feat that seemed unusual for a sect of people that valued silence. Shio had thought about this often until it was explained to him that the echoing was because the lack of speaking made a very loud silence. It made sense in retrospect. Today, Shio was training. Only a genin, he had skills that greatly outclassed many of his peers, and even his superiors, and he knew his chuunin exam would be soon.

Training genjutsu was a uniquely difficult task. There were means, but ultimately the best method was simply having a target; fortunately for Shio it was easy for the "voice of the heavens" to obtain a volunteer.

Nodding towards his volunteer, Shio scribbled in the air quickly.

Walk. Keep your eyes on me. This genjutsu should make walking slightly more difficult for you, and the ground should feel soft. Simply walk, and let me know when you feel it.

The volunteer stood, nodding in understanding, and began slowly pacing in a circle, constantly keeping his eyes locked on Shio.

Shio weaved seals, a small heh escaping his lips has a breathy release. He closed his eyes, focusing on what he did as his fingers slowly shifted through the seals he needed to perform. He acted with purpose, not speed. Genjutsu wasn't about speed, Shio knew that. He wanted to make sure he performed this right, not fast. He had found that, regardless of how fast he could weave seals, his chakra could only infect minds and shape worlds are a certain pace. In his youth, or....younger day, Shio had thought that this was a product of his poor control, but as his control got better and this problem seemed to not be placated he realized it was simply the mysterious nature of chakra itself.

His envisioned his purpose into his chakra. The conceptual softening of the ground, how it would appear, how it would feel to the feet as the density of the ground felt ever so less tough. He pictured the very ground he sat on softening, trying to etch that sensation into his chakra. The sucking feeling it would have.

Then he pictured the force, the grabbing, the small, ever so subtle siphoning of speed from his target as their bodies feel an indiscernible weight to it as they try to traverse the ground. This gradually increasing, slowing them down. A silent siphoning of their speed. Then, with the final seal he released his chakra. It surged towards his target and he eyed them, watching. His pace slowed as he seemed to test the ground with his feet. A few more steps, more hesitation, a few more, more inspection. Then, now directly in front of Shio, the volunteer nodded.

C-rank Status Genjutsu
Doing a series of hand seals, the user will simply speak. Anyone who hears their voice will be caught in the genjutsu. This technique simply causes the user's voice to have a very acute hypnotic effect on the target, making them slightly more hesitant in their movements and slightly slower to respond. So long as the user is speaking, this technique can be just what they need to get a slight edge. After 5 posts the genjutsu ends.


The genjutsu had worn off, and the volunteer now sat mere feet in front of Shio. He watched silently as Shio seemed to stare off into the abyss, lost in his own thoughts. At this point, Shio knew what he had to do. He had trained plenty of genjutsu, some conceptually, some like this. Conceptual training was harder, but he had learned that stronger jutsu...the type that truly damaged targets, couldn't be trained like this and simply had to be known intuitively and performed without practice. A daunting idea.

Regardless, this next technique was slightly less complex than the previous. This begged the question whether it was easier or harder to train. Embedding ideas into chakra, and making chakra produce them, was not an easy task, and more complex technique called forth more concepts to visualize.
