[Graded][Chuunin Exam] I'm just a kid

To be honest, Shio didn't see the merit in rank. He mused about it was he wandered into training arena he had been instructed to be at. His glasses high on his nose, Shio looked as he always did, entirely unassuming. Rank was just some hierarchal structure for public appearances and some way to discern who was in charge. But, to Shio, strength reflected that far better. But now that he was being faced with a promotion, it had suddenly occurred to him that maybe rank was a little more important than he had given consideration for. Contorting his lips as he looked around, he sighed heh.

His parents were both very supportive of the move to chuunin. They always were. Devoted worshipers, they took great pride in their prodigal child, the voice of the universe, all these titles they'd call him as they swooned. Their people had all but bankrolled his family in order to ensure he had the most comfortable lifestyle necessary to prune the young man into the representation of their views and their eventual leader. To Shio, it was overwhelming sometimes, and arbitrary at others. Often he felt like just another kid, up until he was around other children and realized their youth had no interest to him. The idea of being a chuunin, just before his 10th birthday, intimidated him. He had been pulled back from Fountain for this small ordeal, honestly, which made it seem even more intimidating. He had no doubt he wouldn't fail, but the idea that this was something everyone thought was necessary now bad it somehow more dire and consequential.

The pen fell from his long sleeves into his palm and he scribbed into the air, the small swirlings growing larger to announce to any onlookers.

I'm ready

Simple words. But all that needed to be said. He'd make this quick.

Background Character B had been trying to get a lot of screen time lately, now was his time to finally shine. Being born with a most unfortunate name he was subject to many episodes of bullying, B had worked hard all his life harder than most people because surely effort would break through natural talent and ability right? His sensei stood with him, an elderly frail man who seemed to be stood in death's parlour sipping on tea while enjoying the view. The frail teacher beamed a smile down to his young student, it was the smile of pride and accomplishment he imparted words of encouragement to his student. "Today is the day young man, you are on your first step to a larger world you just have to overcome this hurdle. I have complete confidence in you."

The young shinobi's eyes sparkled with child like innocence and boyish dreams of adventure, he closed both his hands into fists and bowed to his mentor. "I won't let you down!" Then with a spring in his step he strode into the training area where his opponent was waiting, as he began to enter he heard the voice of Shio announcing his readiness. B-Kun was confused at the sight of his opponent, this kid must have been six years younger than him at least was the sole thought that came to mind. "There must have been some kind of mistake, I am here for my Chuunin exam?"

"No mistake, you are in the right place. Commence when ready." The disinterest of the proctor shocked the young man somewhat, he had little idea that the outcome of this fight had been foreordained and was purely a formality. B-Kun thought this the easy win his opponent had probably not long been a shinobi he had the experience advantage here and many years of training behind him, the chuunin exam was clearly as good as his as far as he was concerned so as such he bowed towards his opponent introducing himself and then took a ready stance. A quick glance around the fifteen meter diameter circle that took up the training area showed there was nowhere to hide only a thin layer of blood stained sand that had been recently raked over, a handful of people spectated from positions around the training area. An official sent to spectate and report for the Mizukage was present also seen clearly from his rather mish mash attire of both scribe and noble noting him as a clerical official in Kirigakure.

As the boy arrived, Shio waited patiently. He bowed, and Shio bowed in response. The fight was on. He took a half step back, shifting his weight on his back foot. Normally, Shio was of a more analytical mind, but looking at B, he had an intuition that this wouldn't be too necessary. With a sudden shift, he launched his body forward. Quickly moving up to his full speed, Shio didn't bother with hand seals. He was skilled enough in Taijutsu that most genin, even one good at taijutsu, wouldn't pose an enormous threat to him. As he closed the gap between them, he dropped his weight downward, slamming his body into B's waist, grabbing him with all his power and throwing him into the ground, immediately attempting to use his strength to pin him down. He wasn't sure if B would even have the opportunity to respond, surely the speed difference between them would make this shocking for the poor boy.

B-Kun blinked and the child was upon him, arms were wrapped around him as a body tackle sent him backwards. In mere moments B was looking skyward, he would say it was a beautiful day but who knew the mist hid most of the sky this day. The shinobi hurtled to the ground with some force, there was a crunching sound as he landed something definitely broke but B-Kun couldn't even voice a scream having all the air sucked out of his lungs as he crashed down and just like that he passed out.

His mentor's eyes bulged to the point of bursting as he saw this indisputable display of power. "NANI?!" He screamed as death finally came into the parlour to greet him, the old man dropped but nobody noticed as they were fixed on the one sided annihilation that had just taken place. Many of the spectators murmured to each other nervously that a mere child could exert such raw strength, Shio would feel the shift of concern turn to that of greed and selfishness as various parties began eyeing up the potential of this prodigy that had entered the arena, each wondered if they could find a way to snag the young boy for themselves their own personal weapon.

The official representing the Mizukage broke the hushed murmurings with a dry applause, he looked down on Shio with a neutral expression seemingly unmoved by the display. He then nodded to the proctor and turned to leave, the proctor responded by raising his hand. "If B is unable to continue the fight." The proctor paused very briefly although there was little doubt that the shinobi would be getting up any time soon, it was very likely that B-Kun would never be able to fight again. "Then I declare Mistaki, Shio the winner."

The Official waited for Shio to exit the training ground he held folded over one arm a Kirigakure flak vest and in his other hand a scroll.

Shio slowly lifted his weight off his opponent, pushing himself to his feet and dusting himself off. Looking down at poor B, he frowned. He hadn't meant to knock him out, to be entirely honest. He was expecting a little bit more of a fight. At least some sort of resistance. To be entirely fair, if this was the best the boy could do, he probably wasn't meant to be a chuunin anyways. Brushing off his legs once more, he nodded at the proctor, then bowed to the surveyor with a polite smile. There was no need for words.

As he began to exit the training grounds, he looked back at the boy once more. The distance between them, in terms of power, concerned Shio to some extent. What did this mean for Shio going forward? The people around them all seemed abuzz with excitement, nervousness...greed. this worried him too. Shio, so far, he remained relatively out of the eye of the public. There were a few people who knew of him, Kasai, for example. But, most were oblivious to the prodigal child that had been raised within the Kawazaiwa. The official was getting nearer as Shio walked with a patient pace, his mind mulling over everything around him.

Pushing up his glasses, he noticed the official had something in hand. Bowing once more with the distance between them closed, he placed his bright green eyes on the official. The pen slid from his sleeve and he scribbled quickly,

I assume there is more?

The official spoke in dry tones as Shio approached. "Congratulations, the Lord Tenth was unable to come personally due to attending the Festivities in Fountain. He has given me authority to bestow this upon you however and with it your first mission as a Chuunin of Kirigakure No Sato." The Flak Jacket and Scroll were extended towards him, the scroll was sealed in black wax and looked all very official like. "Ensure you dispose of the scroll after reading it's contents."

The Scroll itself detailed the mission to take over the land of fountains once Iwagakure withdrew from the island, it also mentioned he would be under the supervision of one Jouchaku Chiane for the duration of this mission.

"Do our great village proud. Oh and should you fail it is better that you die on the battlefield." The Official spoke deadpan even when delivering the warning, he then bowed ever so slightly towards the young Shinobi as he took his leave.
