[PB] Popping off (at the Gates)

Kenta met the sunrise early, and rose in anticipation of his upcoming bout with his friend from the academy. He knew the boy could handle a blade, but was not worried as he never yet witnessed anything that could surpass the young Toukai's treasured shield. He got ready for the day with a delicate 2-hour prepping ritual of cleansing, toning and exfoliating his immaculate skin. He scooped the leather straps of the shield with one hand, adjusting them tightly to the vascular hunk of flesh that was his forearm. People asked him why he didn't wear it on his back and the answer was simple when one took a look at the edges of the buckler. While the middle easily had close to a couple of inches thickness, the farther from the middle it got, the thinner the metal was until it could be seen to be seemingly razor sharp on its entire rounded circumference. It was more than enough to slice through his clothes, if not open his flesh, all it would take is a single jerky movement.

And so, he instead wore the buckler like an over-sized vambrace, and no doubt this did not help him look any less intimidating; it just turns out that was exactly what he was going for. He stepped out of his flat and swung the door closed hard enough to wake the neighbors and strutted off. Down further along in the streets, he would grab himself a bowl of unflavoured oatmeal with the consistency of gruel, and a cup of a coffee, black.

He intended to meet his friend at the training ground furthest from the center of the village, hoping it would be less populated than the others. His thought being he was not ready to disclose to the world his great power - it would still need to be honed, just a bit more. However, on his way, a figure appeared in front and nearly caused him to topple over and soil his already soiled wife beater with his beverage. "You- you fuckin'-" He started before realizing he wasn't in the academy anymore and would likely be mandated for street-cleaning duty if he continued any further. Instead, he puffed up his chest and held his chin high, trying to get an inch above the similarly-sized ninja.

"Toutai, Kenta, you are to report for mission briefing." The messenger scanned the boy down, sizing him up, and then added, "Immediately." And then he departed as quick as he came. Kenta huffed and changed directions, walking the other way. Alright, well this is better than sparring with a nobody. He made it to his destination and opened the door to the briefing room, proceeding inside.

It was an early day for Seshoma, He had plans to meet his friend from the academy for a quick morning sparring session. Like everyday Seshoma would start it off with a quick morning stretch and shower before heading into his kitchenette to make some quick breakfast. After breakfast He sits down in his small living room and proceeds to clean and sharpen his Chokuto in a ritualistic manner, First the oil then the whetstone to sharpen his blade. Spending an hour sharpening and maintaining his blade he hops up and grabs his typical shinobi outfit and heads out the door towards the training field.

Walking through the streets Seshoma would think back on his time in the academy and the memories he made there. Daydreaming about his favorite training activity, Kenjutsu, he heads into the closest general store to grab a bottle of water. On his way out he would see a hawk waiting by the stores front door. Knowing the bird was for him because he was the only shinobi living in this district of Kiri he would reach for the message attached to the hawks back. "Your presence is requested immediately at the mission briefing room" Surprised Seshoma would nod then take to the roofs heading directly to the mission room. Upon reaching the room he would head inside surprised to see Kenta already waiting.

Kenta stood humbly if at all possible, his robust figure tucked in with his hands cupped in front of him. He turned his cheek to the door behind him, grinning at his partner for the mission. "Morning, buddy. We were waiting for you." Assuming he'd step into line with him, Kenta would deliver a quick smack to one of his shoulders, still grinning before the mission briefing begins.

Reports of wild creatures roaming the countryside, agitating the rice paddies of poor farm workers, inciting havoc.. Yadda yadda. Kenta nodded enthusiastically throughout, then yawned towards the end of the briefing; the gist of it in his head was: kill some animals. He seemed rather content with that simple task as he turned to his supposed comrade, "You follow my lead. We're gonna be eating good tonight." He ended with yet another grin that bared teeth.

The two would agree to meet at the gates and part momentarily, readying themselves for the mission with whatever necessities they chose. Kenta had nothing else to really take, so he went home and stared at a couple of underwear magazines until he felt like Seshoma had been waiting for a few minutes. He would arrive at the gate several minutes later, walking purposefully slow and flicking his head up at Seshoma if he would indeed be there waiting for him.

"Oh good morning Kenta" Seshoma would step inline next to his academy friend intent on absorbing all information given in the brief. While listening Seshoma would notice Kenta not really paying attention after the beginning of the brief, mumbling under his breath "Pay attention knucklehead" making sure Kenta wouldn't hear him. Kenta would turn to him after the brief ends "You follow my lead. We're gonna be eating good tonight" Seshoma would nod his head and begins to make plans to meet at the gates in a short while ready to depart on the mission.

Separating quickly he would run to his home along the rooftops. Landing in-front of his apartment Seshoma walks inside and grabs his to-go chokuto repair kit and a canteen before rushing quickly to the gates to meet his teammate. Arriving at the gates Seshoma notices that Kenta is not waiting for him so he decides to wait and sit around stretching, preparing himself for his mission, his first one since graduating the academy. After a very short while Seshoma would see Kenta heading down the road towards himself, Seshoma waves while yelling "Ready to go?, I wanna get there quickly!".

Kenta approached further, murmuring "Let's be out then," and walked promptly past and began his path down the road. The sun was rather generous this day; the usually gray and dreary Land of Water atmosphere was as bright as could be with the constant mist shrouding over it. No doubt this would die down a little in a number of hours, but the boys should only have a short, quick distance to travel. The ground was still wet from last night's showers, and the road was muddy and trodden with the travel of many since; Kenta's white sneakers were already similarly run-down.

Feeling tight and simultaneously a little bit lethargic, Kenta took to hopping around to-and-fro on his feet, even taking a few swings as if shadow-boxing. "Man, it's been a while since I had a fight.. I'm SO glad this is not just another helping-the-elderly-type mission again.. shieet." He then perked his head up, halting his fluid taijutsu moves for a second as if he had just remembered something.

"So, we still gonna fight after this or what?" He asked while peering back with only the side of his face. "Cause after this, it should be business as usual for me."

About a few minutes of trotting through mud later, the Toukai pondered a thought whilst walking, "Hey, where are we going?" He called out to his companion in travel.
