Kozaki Solo Thread

Post by Ace Trainer » Wed Oct 16, 2019 5:40 pm

Kozaki knelt to the ground, placing one foot out in front of him. Undoing the straps on his sandals, his foot dug into the dirt. Switching feet, he repeated the process, placing his shoes to the side and shaking his head. His bright yellow eyes looked around the area he was in, the mist of Kirigakure floating around him limiting his vision. He liked training early in the morning like this, not as many civilians hoping to catch a shinobi doing something incredible. The area he was in was hardly a large one, but it would be sufficient for some training in foot work, hoping to get up his speed a little bit. Kozaki had aspirations of being mighty one day, which meant training a lot. It didn’t help that as a “ward of the village” there were expectations of him. So even if he didn’t want to be the greatest, they’d expect it of him anyways. The qualms of being an experiment.

Digging his feet into the dirt, he took off ...pathetically slow. He knew he wasn’t fast, he had no illusions about being an enormously speedy fighter. But he hoped to be one day, and this is how it would happen. He rushed towards the end goal, he was running short springs, five times back to back, four times, that wouldn’t be too difficult to do, right? Even after running for just a brief moment he could feel his exhaustion setting in already. It was hard, always running low on chakra. Being a constant conduit for a realm being pulled into the human world wasn’t easy, and it was such a drain that he just never felt like he got enough sleep. Even now he felt like a nap would be nice. But there was no time.

Reaching the end of the lane, he slapped his hand against the ground, pivoting and shooting back in the other way. Well, shooting might not have been the best choice, it was more of a slugging, but he was going none-the-less. He put his eyes on the line in front of him now, focusing all his energy into digging his feet in and pushing off strong to get along. He knew taijutsu was an important skill for shinobi, and being fast was central to being good at taijutsu. So he needed to be faster. He would be elite, he had to be.

The line was there, he bent over, slapping the ground again and pivoting back to head back to the other lane. He felt the sweat forming on his neck; already? He tried not to get too frustrated. But all his life they had put so much emphasis on ninjutsu. Even when he was in the academy and he felt like he was behind his peers in taijutsu and genjutsu his ‘handlers’ -- as he liked to call them -- told him ninjutsu was important. It was the skill of shinobi, and because of his abilities he needed to be better at ninjutsu than anyone else.

But the best shinobi ever couldn’t just be good at ninjutsu, he needed to be good at everything.

He pushed himself further, grunting as he sprinted he reached forward, slapping the ground against and turning around. His bright yellow eyes immediately locked onto the end of the lane. He felt his Samsara activately, black fluid forming on his back as he pushed himself. This always happened, it was how he knew he was pushing his body. When he started just passively releasing Samsara.

He had two more laps to do, but it felt like forever already. Would he be able to run that much after this? These sprints were killing him. He was getting tired. He wanted to sleep. Damn these handlers for setting him on the wrong course with all the ninjutsu.

He was getting closer to the end of the lane. He thinned his eyes, grinding his teeth as he pushed himself forward towards the end of the lane. Once he was there he only had to make it back to the beginning. That would be easy, right? No issues at all doing that. I got this he told himself. There it was, there was the lane. He took his final step towards it, bending over, and grunting as he did so. Then slapping the ground, leaving behind him drops of Samsara on the ground.

One more lap, he turned, digging his toes into the dirt with one foot and his heel into the ground with the other. His body twisted and his hands met the dirt, digging into it and using it to launch his body forward. He was almost there, he could see the end of the lane. He knew how many steps it would take. Thirty five steps. He’d been counting them all along and hadn’t even realized it. What a great use of his mind, hell that distraction based training could be helpful for training his mind too.

One, two, three. Three steps done. He could feel strain in his quads as he pushed himself.

Four. Five. Six. Seven.

What was he at now? Ten? It was interesting how now that he was paying attention he couldn’t keep track. Perhaps this wouldn’t be good training for his mind. He could feel his back straining to kick his legs up. His legs were starting to hurt. Why did training hurt. Training ninjutsu never hurt like this, it wasn’t really muscle training it was more energy training so to speak. He wasn’t a fan. Perhaps when he was stronger it would be easier? He wasn’t sure.

Twenty. Twenty five? Where was he at? The line was right there. He locked onto the line with his eyes, focusing on it in front of him. It was only a few steps away. Lengthening out his stride, he reached forward. It was right there, he could reach it! Stumbling over his own feet, he dove forward, reaching out for the line and slapping it as his chest hit the ground. Breathing heavy he smiled, first round down. Only four more to go. But hopefully he’d be a little bit faster now.

Kozaki Solo Thread

Post by Ace Trainer » Tue Oct 22, 2019 8:38 pm

Kozaki pushed open the big bronze door as he had done so many times in the past, looking into the dark room and taking a deep breath before walking in. He was a little surprised when he got the order to be here this morning. He'd been called in plenty of times before, but since becoming a genin he hadn't been ordered to show, so he should have seen it coming, but he'd also become a little comfortable since the absence of orders. Walking into the room he approached the tall backed chair he so frequently sat in, and sat down in it comfortable.

His eyes shifted around the room, it was hardly a welcoming room, and so often he'd been in here being scolded for his failings so he wasn't really full of happy memories or anything like that. Usually after long days of training, he'd be pulled into this room and instructed to discuss everything he'd learned, where he'd be yelled at for anything he didn't grasp fully, or whatever it was. He figured that it was a method of helping ensure that the training had truly rooted itself in his brain. Placing his hand over his mouth, he stifled a cough. He knew that he'd be acknowledged when his master was ready.

Time ticked slowly, and finally the man opposite of him looked up from the scripture he was writing in and looked up at Kozaki, "Welcome, Kozaki.", he said. His long white hair hung past his neck, and his glasses sat low on his nose.

"Master.", was all he said back. His eyes moved towards a pair of bookshelves to the side of the room. So often he'd been taken through the passage way behind them and tied to the bench to have his guts cut open and his DNA extracted and analyzed.

The man reached down, pulling out a packet of paper from behind the table and handing it to Kozaki, "You have an assignment.", he offered.

Kozaki's eyes widened slightly, he'd learned showing too much emotion to his master often caused negative reactions, so he tended to be more muted. Taking the packet, he placed it on his lap, not bothering to open it. His master would tell him what he needed to know and he could inspect it more in depth later.

"Being as you're supposed to be an elite soldier, the powers that be are interested in your development alongside other shinobi. Given current political mechanisms....Iwagakure seems a good candidate.", he paused, reaching for a cup of tea and drinking from it.

Kozaki nodded, "Yes sir.", he responded, not much else to say. He stifled a yawn, he'd been on his way to take a nap when he got orders to arrive, so he was tired. Running his thumb over the edge of the paper, he couldn't help but be a little excited about the sound of this mission.

"You'll be going to Star Country, you've heard of the festival? There will be plenty Iwagakure shinobi there, interact with them, particularly any genin if Iwagakure trusts them to be on their own. If you meet any genin you think would make a good rival, let them know of your mission and inform them to tell their superiors. The rest will sort itself.", his orders were clear.

The finality in the mans voice made it obvious very quickly that Kozaki's meeting with his master was over already. Standing, he tucked the papers under his arm, and bowed his head, "Thank you master.", the man said nothing in response. Kozaki's bright yellow eyes remained locked on the floor for several moments before turning and beginning to walk out. The walk out of the room always felt like forever. He'd be on a team with an Iwagakure shinobi? That was thrilling. He'd get to explore the world? He'd be out in the big world? That was definitely exciting. He was practically shaking in excitement, this was big! He'd get lots of experience doing this. Finally his hand reached for the door knob, only to be stopped,

"And Kozaki?"

Kozaki released the door handle, turning. "Yes?"

"I'm running final trials on your next modification. When you return from Starfall I hope to prepare you for the chuunin exams. When you succeed, we'll continue with your upgrades."

Kozaki frowned, nodding, "Yes master.", his eyes locked onto the two book shelves once more before quickly exiting the room.
