Asami knew that by the standards of most, she had had an eventful day already. Her morning that was supposed to be spent training, was instead spent being kidnapped by pirates. It was an embarrassing event, and one that she wanted to put behind her as quickly as possible. What had followed was something most girls might have seen as some landmark event, giving up what was left of her naivety to Shinjiro who was also technically her Sensei and her Mentor into the Seven Swordsmen. But to her it was simply an act, a means to an end to remove an irrational fear of having it forcibly taken from her. She felt lighter, but she hardly felt more attached to the man for it. Raised by the streets since the death of her parents, she hardly understood nor cared for romantic attachments.

Still, she felt the need to shed her humanity for the moment, to lose herself to another mind, so to speak. Though she had already criticized Shinjiro more than once for his own habit of giving in to the beast sealed in him, it didn't mean she didn't have her own moments. Hers came with a much weaker pull of course, and felt more like a blessing than a possible curse. The Dread Wolf was a welcome reprieve after a day of far too much humanity like today.

Asami left her new home, locking it up as she went, wandering into the mists to find a quiet place to be along. Night was coming on, and she loved the way the air smelled in the evenings. Eventually she stepped into an alley, and emerged in the form of the Wolf. Her fur was dark grey, almost black, and shaggy. She shook just to enjoy the feel of it. Her muzzle was more like a skull with blue embers for eyes, though in spite of the skull she could still smell the air and taste it like an animal. She wandered out of the alley and padded her way towards the training grounds. Here and there she paused to smell the misty air. If a wolf's skull could smile, she would. She could see, feel, and sense as the wolf, though mentally she felt as if she were not in the driver's seat. The Dread Wolf took over control, a whole other side to the woman.

She tilted her head back and howled, a sound layered as if more than one wolf had once sung the song with her, when coupled with the echoes off the mists it was a beautiful yet haunting sound. It was one that Asami loved. In this form she felt a particular freedom, wandering into a training ground and sitting on her hindquarters, taking a moment to simply enjoy the feel of the wet grass against her paws. Though the Dread Wolf himself was rumbling in his chest impatiently, seeking something to occupy his attention for the short time he knew he'd have reign.

After his time with Asami, Shinjiro had returned to his mansion in the 1st district. He felt satisfied after their encounter though his body still nagged at him to train. Despite killing four people already that morning he demanded a higher standard of training for himself. Fortunately, he was not disappointed when his father called for a demonstration of skill, pitting him against his two older siblings, both also elite Jounin. Despite some level of fatigue, Shinji was always prepared to push his limits and adapt his fighting style accordingly. His siblings had come at him hard, his brother relentless with his spear and tremendous speed, forcing Shinjiro to actually combat him with both swords while his sister utilized genjutsu to distort his senses and confuse his perceptions of reality and then move to disable his limbs and ability to control his body itself with medical ninjutsu. Turning Agony on himself Shinjiro overcame the genjutsu at the cost of immense pain, continuing to fight as he brutally overwhelmed his brother barehanded after disarming him before cutting his sister with both blades and bringing her to her knees. He suffered a few wounds of his own and collapsed afterward due to pain from Agony but nonetheless he had won and without delving into any of the Genma’s power.

As usual, his performance had greatly pleased his father Izune who declared that from now on Shinji would train with him personally once a week. It was a great honor and he was looking forward to reaching a new level. He had trained with his dad before, but it had always been merely instructional, now he would be fighting his father properly, practically an equal and he knew his dad wouldn’t hold back. To clear his head, Shinji decided to fly over to one of the sparsely wooded training grounds within the shinobi district. The island was still largely wetlands and grasslands with few natural predators besides snakes, various birds and foxes though it wasn’t unheard of for there to be rare wolf sightings, they were a common shinobi pet and a handful of shinobi of Kirigakure aside form Shinji could transform into the animal. Still, he had yet to actually come across any of them, though he had met a girl with a feline transformation.

Hearing a haunting howl his curiosity had been piqued, landing he transformed into a large black wolf himself. He padded along the soft, wet ground and through the thick mists, navigating around training area, there were a few flooded patches but mostly the area was a large field with targets and sparse mossy trees spanning several hundred meters. The mist was thick, making it difficult to see through the trees, night had begun to fall and with it the air grew slightly cooler. He could smell the presence of the other wolf, its scent was odd, almost unnatural and he wondered whether or not it was a transformed shinobi or a spirit, perhaps even a summon. He sniffed at the air again, there had been shinobi around earlier of course and their scents still hung in the air but he couldn’t detect anyone there currently, not within about 100 meters or so anyway. Returning the how, dominant and powerful, unmistakably that of an alpha male his voice would challenge the territory of this other creature.

She took a moment to go in circles, sniffing at the damp ground and at the mist in the air. Both she and the Dread Wolf himself were happier in this form, every once in a while a sniff accompanied by a bark. It might have seemed a happy sound if not for the layering of the tones. She paced and she stalked even chased a mouse to it's hole under a tree where she liberally pawed at the dirt and dug hard enough to send it flying in all directions. At least until a scent caught her nose. Her head lifted immediately, fully alert as she thought she caught the scent of another wolf. A moment later her suspicions were confirmed as she heard another howl.

A panting quiet bark came from her in quick succession as she lowered her head, a kind of laugh before she lifted it once more, nose to the air, and let out yet another howl. She howled so hard she pushed up with her legs and stood on her back legs alone for a brief moment. The sound of her paws coming back down to the ground was barely audible and yet she stalked off in search of this other wolf.

In this form Asami felt free from everything, free to wander with no fear of being hunted by so-called family members. She was free to explore. And so she loved when she found another wolf in this form, eager for someone to interact with on a level of animal instinct. She found the intricacies of animal body language to be fascinating, territorial moods were humorous, and most of all she enjoyed seeing the fear of her form slowly set into the minds of other creatures. Though as she sought out this animal she thought might be a normal wolf, she had no idea as of yet that he was not.

Shinjiro sniffed at the air, increasingly on edge about the unusual scent of this wolf. Its howl was almost echoed and haunting and yet somehow light and energetic, not the low rumble of a growl or the booming intimidation of another alpha male. As it approached closer the air seemed to change, heavy and foreboding. As the creature came into view it was evident that this was a spirit of some kind, its eyes glowing blue and its head merely a skull. Certainly that explained why it wasn’t immediately submissive to his presence like all other animals he had ever encountered, though within him was also a Grand Spirit that presided over animals of all kinds, both spirit and not. Likely this even extended to some types of forest spirits. Could it sense Vorashu within him?

The Jinchuuriki maintained his ground, even in animal forms, in fact especially so, he was clearly an alpha, dominant and powerful. The closest thing to freedom and happiness he experienced in animal forms was hunting or simply enjoying the scents and sounds of nature around him, being fully immersed in a body that seemed to fit perfectly into its place in the world, driven by simplistic instincts free of outside influence and agendas. He would observe this creature as it approached, waiting to determine if it would recognize him or introduce itself or perhaps challenge him. It seemed, like him to carry a naturally powerful aura and he felt compelled to learn more of this creature.

She couldn't put her finger on it, but something about this other wolf just didn't seem quite right. She looked at him for several moments, tilting her head as she looked him over. She took in his posture, watching him as he stood as if he were the dominant animal in this interaction. That wasn't strange, male wolves had taken that stance with her many times, she rather enjoyed watching them try to strut around or even snarl at her. Of course with normal wolves it didn't last long if they started a fight, seeing as in this form Asami still had her strength and speed as a shinobi.

Asami felt her own consciousness shift, the curiosity of the Dread Wolf rose. The comfort she often felt in letting this take hold, the loss of control, slipped away for a bit as she felt like she was taking a back seat in the entire experience. Her wolven form took steps forward without her will, a strange sound coming from his chest as if some kind of chuckle of amusement with a growl within its tones.

The Wolf did not dip his head forward. He seemed to sniff at the air around the Jinchuuriki as he drew close, but he did not dip his head to sniff as if being subservient in the same. If uninterrupted, he circled around the wolf before him and paused beside him, sniffing almost muzzle to muzzle. "Vorashu..." The voice was deepened and ethereal in how it was layered, a single name as it recognized what was within the wolf beside it.
