Frenemies!

Subete made his way through the village market distract on this rather sunny day as he went to look for some ninja tools and possibly cause some mischief. Recently he had been assigned a new team and that was an ordeal within itself. He was dressed in civilian attire today with a mix of his on-duty clothing, a white short-sleeve shirt with a graphic ensemble of a koi fish on the front, a multitude of rings and wristbands, 20-eye black open-toed shoes, deep cuff black pants, the general Kirigakure Genin turquoise vest that was open to reveal his shirt more clearly, a ninja bag resting on his right hip and his ninja band wrapped around his right bicep.

Though now he had some free time, and instead of simply beginning some training outright he figured he'd make his way around the village. Why would one who hated the village as much as he did still take a look around one might ask? Well, that was simple; hated staying put in one spot. In fact, today his hate seemed to fuel him, as he made his way through the streets, fantasies, and images of one day burning the place down to the ground began to plague his mind. However, his anger could surely be misinterpreted to hate all of Kirigakure it was simply and utterly to its stifling nature. He felt Kiri could change, in fact, he thought it could so with ease, much to the protest of some of the citizens, but he hated being nothing more than a pawn for the disposal of the village, and what was worse is that everybody felt he should be grateful and happy about it.

Though being a shinobi wasn't his choice, to begin with, he knew that now it was nothing he could do about it. There was only one thing he could do and that was to try and become strong enough so that no one could oppose him, no one could stifle him or tell him what to do. However, also knew that acquiring strength wasn't easy. One didn't simply snap their fingers and bam! They were more powerful, no it took skill, talent, and dedication, and when that didn't work sometimes a good weapon could come in handy too. That notion of which, was what bought him to the very place he now stood in line for. The best weapon shop in the military cast of the village, or at least one of the 4 best weapon shops on the lower pricing scale.

He didn't have much money on him, in fact, he had barely any at all. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that he was only doing some window shopping or looking for a discount... Preferably one that required a five fingers only coupon. He waited in line for what felt like forever, only to finally make his way into the shop. The clinking of metal could be heard from the nearby blacksmith's workspace. Tanto, wakizashi, kunai, and shuriken lined the walls, some with intricate patterns and design that were no more than fancy versions of ordinary weapons, and some that actually seemed to have some practical use. Subete, however, found himself was drawn to the upper shelves of the store where all the good weapons were but as he looked, admittedly while not looking at where he was going he bumped into someone. Disregarding the person as non-existent, he backed up and made his way over toward katanas that adorned the wall to the right without even so much as an apology, instead choosing to display a disgruntled look that the person he bumped into had the unmitigated gull to actually exist in front of him!

Rude much?

Daichi walked through the market place, looking through the various shops for anything that caught his attention as he headed to the weapon store. Having recently graduated from the academy, Daichi was now starting on his journey to be a ninja of Kirigakure in which he didn't want to disappoint his clan or parents. He knew that his experience and standing upon graduation weren't by any means a reflection of his abilities but it was still embarrassing that he struggled so much with learning to use his Kekkai Genkai. Thankfully he managed to gain control but the time that it had taken for him to do so had cost him his high standing in his grading. Both of these factors resulted in some of his fellow clanmates had taken this to mean that he was weak and begun to try to intimidate and bully him. "Though those fools quickly learned that my skills hadn't diminished in the slightest. Still, I should remain on the lookout in case they decide to try something later." he thought. He couldn't really do much of anything about their words but physically he could defend himself with ease.

He was currently dressed in his preferred civilian wear; a plain yellow shirt with a black jacket thrown over, a pair of black khakis, and regular open-toed shoes. The main reason that he was here was that he was on the lookout for a kusari-fudo. It was his weapon of choice when he needed one so he wanted to find one to buy so that he can train while learning to make his own. He planned to train in the forges of the Muramasa family and figured that he would be proficient enough to make his own within 6 months. "As long as I don't struggle as I did with my kekkai genkai." he mumbled under his breath. He simply could have asked for one of them to make a kusari-fudo for him but he wanted to make it personally himself. He still needed to train with one though so that his skills matched up though while he was learning to blacksmith so he was looking through the bazaars for a throw-away version that he wouldn't mind getting scuffed up or potentially broken.

Eventually, he made it to the weapon store, swiftly entering into the building while giving a cursory sweep of the room. It wasn't packed by any standards. He was 1 of about 3 people in the shop and the youngest looking here with the other 2 customers being somewhere in their 20s. Moving through the aisles, Daichi found himself towards the back of the store finding himself next to the katana displays. What caught his interest were the kusari-fudos that were here and after a quick glance through as well as feeling the weight of each in his hands, Daichi ended up choosing one for himself. A small smile appeared on his face before he sensed someone coming into his space. He had the time to look up before said person bumped into him. Daichi managed to get a good look at him when the stranger backed up a few steps and saw that it was another teen, somewhere around his age, and a bit shorter than him. He was taken back by the disgruntled look that appeared on the teen's face as if it was Daichi's fault that he bumped into him rather than the kid not looking where he was going! "Wow. So you just bump into someone and don't even apologize for it? Great manners there." he said in a soft but firm voice before turning to walk towards the cashier.

A voice echoed from the boy with the kusari-fudo in his hands, though Subete could've easily responded with some choice words for the boy. Considering he was clearly already a bit annoyed with him for bumping into him, he figured he'd just do what he usually did in this kind of situation: quip. "Oh thanks, I try. Nice chain necklace." He chortled, his tone practically oozing sarcasm as he had spoken. Kusari-fudo held very little merit in terms of weapons in his mind, in fact, many weapons did that were blunt. Blunt weapons could do damage sure, and they had their uses but in his mind, a blade was always better. He felt it was always better to cut or pierce rather than bash.

Either way, with all that was said and done the scene had caused a bit too many looks in his direction for him to now successfully get a "discount" on the weapons he wanted. He gave a small disgruntled look before heading back out toward the exit. Though he did make sure to spot a few things in the store he'd like to get for later. Whether he actually paid for them or not time would tell. For now, he figured it was best to do something better with his time, like training. After all, that's what he was dressed in some of his ninja garb for today. Being assigned a new team and all meant that he would have to do something better with his time if he didn't want to get left behind. Especially considering the sadist of a chuunin that was training him, and the familiarity that she shared with the other genin.

No, he had to improve, he had to become stronger, it was only a matter of time now before his life would be on the line, and before he'd have to fight the other. Unless he wanted to lose it in an embarrassing fashion; he knew he had to step his game up. For now, he made his way toward a new training ground he had found out about a couple of days ago. It was about a forty-minute walk through a forest of trees to get there. It then expanded into a large open space, at least 40 meters in size, and about 20 meters out from the thicket of trees it opened in a large pond about 1 acre in size surrounded by trees spaced about 8 feet apart on nearly all sides, which gave ample space and room for him to practice and utilize some Jutsu and chakra control. All in all, he was happy about his new find from the looks of it. Although he got the information from his dad it was fairly decent for what he wanted to do.

As he looked around, to his delight just as his father had said the training ground seemed to be empty around this time of day. Of course, that was probably because there were much better ones scattered throughout Kiri, mostly filled with targets, dummies, and other equipment making them much more popular among those in the military caste. "Who knew dad would be right for a change... Guess there's a first time for everything. Time to get to work!" He spoke with enthusiasm as he began to stretch.

Daisuke's eyes narrowed at the other boy's rebuttal to his statement as he began to walk away. Looking over his shoulder to see where the boy was headed, he scoffed seeing him at the katana section. Shaking his head, he called back in a biting sarcastic tone "I wouldn't expect a katana fanboy like you to know it's called a kasari-fudo." as he left towards the register. He personally felt that those who went for katanas were unimaginative as a weapon fighter. Not every body type was made to work with a katana. It was better to try out different types in order to find the one that worked best for you to specialize in. This kid didn't look like he would be putting on the muscle needed to be an efficient swordsman so he assumed that he was only going for it because he was a fanboy. People were always dismissive of those who go for chain or rope weapons due to the difficulty in being able to kill someone with it but Daichi used that underestimation to his advantage. No one expected a burning metal chain or electrified one to suddenly squeeze them after all.

Putting the rude boy out of his mind, Daichi paid for the weapon before walking out of the store, heading towards one of the nearby training ground. The one that he was headed for contained a small pond, forest and some open ground for him to work with. His training plan was to get used to the weight and feel of the kusari-fudo over the next few days before moving on to target practice. He would eventually move on to the forests so that he could train with moving and curving around objects. He would most likely be at it for a few weeks at least which was plenty of time for him to become decent at blacksmithing to forge his own. He kept abreast of his surroundings as he walked through the forest juggling the kusari-fudo in his hand. He experimented with tossing it, figuring he might as well get used to the feel of it before he arrived at the training ground if only to save time. He didn't aim for any of the local wildlife but he was still learning how to use a kusari-fudo so his aim wasn't the best, striking the occasional tree or even getting stuck in the bark once. That had been an embarrassing moment and he was glad that no one was around to see that.

Coming out of the forest, Daichi smiled as he stood at the edge of the training ground. That smile quickly disappeared as he made out the form of someone else coming from another patch of the forest. As he looked over he noticed that it was the boy from the weapon shop he had been at just minutes prior. "What are the odds that he would end up coming to the same training ground as me." Daichi thought as a small scowl came across his face. The training ground was fairly large, being around 40 meters in diameter so it was entirely feasible that they could both use it without stepping on other another's toes but Daichi was reluctant to do so. This boy seemed like the type to smack snide comments or laughing when others made mistakes around him. He dealt with enough heckling from his clan to want to take it from a strange thank you very much but he also didn't want to go find another training ground either. with a small sigh, Daichi would walk up towards the other boy in order to come up with an accord between them for this training ground.
