TRAINING
Hah….breath in. Breath out. Feel the flow of chakra, that fundamental energy of life, flood your body with it. Grasp it. Hold it. Refine it. Take the physical and spiritual energy, force it to move, cycle it through your body. Around and around. This movement, the constant and uninterrupted flow of energy throughout one’s body, was the very nature of converting ordinary chakra into the element known commonly as Raiton. At least that was how Fujikawa grasped it conceptually. She did often wonder how other Shinobi imagined the phenomenon and if they had better ways but for her, this was good enough.

Ox. Hare. Boar. Snake. Release. Her fingers danced through the hand seals, the charged chakra running down her arms, coming together at the fingertips. She then pulled her appendages about, holding the energy in her right hand before taking aim with a single finger and…no. She had been hoping to, finally, successfully employ the jutsu known as Stun Gun but yet again she failed. She unleashed the bullet and it flew through the air for a few moments before ultimately crumbling.

There was a sizzling discharge of energy, the current she had managed to control up until this point simply fizzling out into the air, dissipating harmlessly. Hmm…Unlike jamming pulse or even voltic zone she needed a far more condensed charge, a way to keep it together, to hold it as one single dense sphere, rather than the wider spread associated with the two aforementioned jutsu. She was beginning to understand just why her teacher had tried to nudge her into learning this jutsu sooner.

Hmmm…” She sat back down upon a nearby tree stump, reaching into one of her pockets and withdrawing her beloved Kiseru. A simple strike of the match and it was lit, the smoke freely flowing upwards, a coiled wisp of air visible against the darkened clouds. Rain… well this was the Village of the Hidden Mist after all. Rain, and other weather conditions associated with it, were to be expected.

Hmm….rain…..” Was that why she was struggling? Rain was often foreshadowed by increased moisture and water was a natural conductor. Perhaps that was the reason….no. That was unscientific and flew in the face of past experiences. None of her other Raiton jutsu dissipated due to the rain or the air being wet, so why was this? The chemist tilted her head backwards, watching the smoke rise upwards, following its path as it remained together before ultimately dissipating.

Remained together…remained together….remained together….She jerked upwards from her seat, bolting upright to her feet, the flash of inspiration striking like a bolt of lighting. That was it. The smoke remained together after she exhaled outwards, attracted to itself and held together by its own nature. But how to…oh she truly felt foolish now. She had been taught that you needed to split raiton chakra apart into two kinds, an A and B let’s say for simplicity, and that the balance held the chakra together. It’s what allowed her to form her own chakra into the Sky Spear. Ah…she really should have listened to her teacher when they told her to practice throwing the Sky Spear. That was a use of the jutsu that required an entirely different chakra balance than merely holding onto it.

Bahahahha! Bahaha….ahhh the answer has been right in front of me this entire time!” She threw back her head, bursting out into laughter at her own foolishness. This was most definitely an example of one not seeing the forest through the trees! It was hilarious! Fujikawa’s guffawing laughter quieted down into a slight chuckle, interrupted only by her stopping to draw upon her pipe and exhale the smoke outwards. Ah…..she supposed this is why her teacher told her to never train alone. No matter. The chemist had happened upon a solution and she was all the more eager for it.

In one single flowing moving the pipe was extinguished, the burning tobacco emptied onto the ground, its embers stamped out before the Kiseru was ultimately returned to the innermost depths of her outfit. Ox. Hare. Boar. Snake. Release It was the same pattern of hand signs as before yet she made one crucial change: splitting her raiton into two parts. She could feel the fighting, tearing, pulling and battling against her control to be reunited but that was to be expected. The balance must be returned to equilibrium at the end of the day.

Hold it together. Don’t let them merge yet. Keep the balance destabilised. She held her right hand forward like a gun, pointing her two top fingers towards a nearby tree, the orb of lighting building in fury and intensity until at least, it was released as a trio. Small though the orbs were, it flew freely until striking a nearby tree, scorching and burning its surface. Hah! Yes…..she’d cracked it! Even though the rains began to descend, nothing could subdue her sense of elation at her success.

Hmp…yet again returning to her vice of smoking, Fujikawa made her way back to the village, suddenly realising just how very exhausted she was. Her breathing was ragged, her head was pounding, her body was taxed. She needed rest, relaxation and comfort. Perhaps she would visit her favourite bathhouse. She had earned a reward for herself given the success of her training. The chemist could not help but wonder just how this would change her training in the future….hmmm~
