"Well I'll be damned..." The woman muttered as she slowly approached the building. Just as she left it... actually, better than she did. There was a little laughter from her as she took her gourd from her side and took a slug from it, clearing her throat as she did and she went to step closer. Each step felt familiar. Her youth flashing by her vision as she went to reach into one of her pouches, fumbling for a moment before producing a small key, one that felt like it had the weight of the world on it. Rolling it between her fingers, she slowly stepped up to the door and slipped the key in. "Never changed the locks though... I guess they didn't expect anyone to really keep a key..."

A soft push of the door and she stepped inside. Dirt, grass, the small lake... far more pristine than she kept it. There was a slight smirk on her face as she surveyed the area and she went to slowly make her way towards the center of this building. As she walked, in her mind, she could clearly picture where she was. Near the lake, practicing control over her chakra. Challenging her old Aisu friend to a fight... she'd never openly admit it but he would have been a better shinobi than her with ease. In the middle, fighting her former mentor, Kohon... and the feeling she had in her gut when she realized that his death meant she was alone with this place. Unearned... Swordsman in name, not action. A Bannin in name, not action... a Shinobi in name, not action. There was a soft sigh from her as she stood in the center and took a seat, sipping from her gourd again and staring up at the lights on the ceiling.

Even if she felt all these things, she didn't care anymore. She was tired of it all. The war had taken its toll. Blood was shed and she didn't regret it but it wasn't what she wanted, not even at the time... but the village mattered more. The soft hiss of her arm brought her senses back to her as she took a deep breath and clenched her mechanical fist. The visions of the surgery flashed in her face. Bright lights, a cold scientist, excruciating pain... the echoes of which can still be felt. "Why did I come here..."

Nostalgia, Swords, and Sake

Post by Izanagi » Fri Jul 08, 2022 7:40 pm

As he did nearly every day, Shinjiro entered the Seven Swordsmen’s training complex. It was an ideal place for him to practice in seclusion, away from prying eyes. Recently he had come to realize he had allowed his own hubris to endanger himself, revealing a large majority of his skillset and tactics to the world. Strong as he might be, he was not invincible and his recent skirmish with a man named Zao had proved the detriment of being so famous. In fact, he had lost, for all intents and purposes each of the last three real fights he had against fellow Bannin level shinobi. It was time therefore to get serious about delving into his long-neglected Kaurujutsu. He was an assassin first, a swordsman second and a Jinchuuriki last, but now he needed more than ever to make his weakest skills his greatest strength.

However, as he entered the complex, he became immediately aware of a presence he had not felt in quite some time. The cloaked man approached, wraith-like and utterly silent, though he made no effort to move unseen. “Why Indeed?” he muttered, having heard the woman’s words as he entered. “Do you still have some fight in you? Are you here to reclaim your title?” he wondered, eying her cautiously. He had never met the woman before, but he knew exactly who she was. She had departed from the seven, or otherwise been unreachable only shortly after he had become a Dagger before the war. Now, at 21 years of age Shinjiro was one of Kirigakure’s mightiest defenders. And yet he still felt remarkably weak upon facing true power against countless other S-ranked shinobi over his career.

Glowing with green chakra, a large scorpion stinger emerged from his tailbone, waving menacingly in the air behind him. “Entertain me. You’re interrupting my training session” he demanded, skirting the line between bored and murderous. He would be content to talk while they trained, perhaps they could discover together just where Chiane belonged.

When she was about to take another drink, a voice came to her ears. Different, but familiar. She went to stand up, a slight stumble in her step as she was clearing her throat, turning around. "Damn... you got big... You were the new one, just before I left, yeah? The Karagata boy, Shinjiro?" She was looking at him and sizing him up, shaking her head slightly. "I'm not stupid... I know a battle that isn't easily won..." She stated as she even saw the stinger growing from him and nodded her head softly. "Huh... ya got the big ass spirit eh? Must be useful." The way she spoke and how she looked at him, there wasn't a drop of fear in her at this moment and she cleared her throat. "You keep this place good. Clean, orderly, tight... How many daggers are around? Do you even have another swordsman among you?" While her hand stayed on her weapon, he would start to notice this slight silvery color starting to form in her hand. She wasn't too conscious of it as she was going to take a step out of the center of the area, mostly to his side, watching how he observed her.

There was a pause for a moment though as that glow left her for a second and she tilted her head. "Wait wait wait... Reclaim my title? Hold up... You are the Overseer now? HAH! Hoooh shit, this is karmic justice if I've ever guessed it." She wiped a tear from her eye from her own little laughter as she shook her head, going to clear her throat as she took a deep breath and with a quick flourish, drew her sword out. There was this faint silvery glow across the whole length of the blade and she was focusing intently forward on Shinjiro now as she was shaking her head. "If I'm interrupting your training, then I'll be your partner. I hope you remember how to spar without killing... Albeit, if ya didn't... prolly wouldn't have nearly as many daggers in your group as I bet you do." With that, he could see her intensity return for another moment, focusing down, with this slight flash of this strange chakra surrounding her, she let out a sharp huff of air through her lips. That silvery coating across her blade suddenly started to solidify and she was grinning wickedly, looking down at her weapon and stretching her shoulders out. "Hmmm... yeah... this feel just about right for me... Come on Shinjiro, talk to me... what's changed?" After she spoke, she started to bounce a little more agile-like, her sword in one hand, this strange shimmering glow coming off her sword the whole time.

D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
The signature Stance of Toryu, practitioners relax the muscles in their bodies, gaining additional flexibility in their movements in how they approach the enemy, how they retreat, how they evade attacks, and how they attack the opponent. This Stance allows the practitioner to more easily read opponent's attacks and defend against them by evading in unusual ways, such as ducking, bending around, and quickly sidestepping attacks without needlessly exposing themselves to additional attacks. This fleet-footed Stance lets the practitioner mix up their movements to confuse and misdirect the opponent, allowing them to attack lesser-known openings in the opponent's guard. It also allows the practitioner to rapidly and reflexively change the angle, position and grip of their weapon with minimal movement, allowing them multiple manners in which they can attack the opponent or defend against attacks.

Shinjiro sniffed at the air, as one might expect of the King of Beasts his senses were impeccable. He wondered if the woman was drunk, certainly a little tipsy at least judging by the slight flush to her face. But that mattered little to him, he knew better than to ever underestimate an opponent, especially a Kirigakure shinobi. Shiv was testament enough to the fact that even a drunk could still be a deadly weapon. Truthfully, he was beginning to feel a certain excitement creep up on him. He had never had the privilege of earning his title by defeating the former Overseer, it felt hollow to claim such an esteemed title without opposition. For he had long surpassed the other members of the Seven.

But the years had tempered him somewhat, he was no longer quite so eager or reckless. And he had learned to appreciate conversation from time to time. He smirked beneath his mask, letting out a low huff of amusement as the woman recalled his inauguration. Seven years ago. So much had changed since then, and yet ultimately in Kirigakure one thing always remained the same. Power was all that mattered in the end. And now it was he who was considered a strong contender for the most powerful figure in the village. “Yeah, that’s right” he replied dryly, though his lime-green eyes were alive with a pang of predatory hunger. Cracking his neck, he shifted his stance slightly. His swords were clearly across his back, a pair of Katana in black sheaths but he made no motion for them. Instead, he placed his hands firmly in his pockets of his jacket. Wisps of green chakra flowed around his head and his hood was pushed back, revealing his short hickory brown hair as two curved half-meter-long horns sprouted forth. Each were a deep crimson coloration, slick with his own blood.

Shinjiro has developed a remarkably keen sense of smell even when not transformed into an animal. He can easily distinguish scents between people as well as pick up on trails that are several days old. His passive range is equal to his Willpower stat though for particularly strong smells such as blood or decay he can detect from a distance of [Willpowerx5] meters away. When in a transformed state of an animal with a strong sense of smell such as a canine the range of his sense of smell is doubled.

Becoming finely attuned with his sense of touch and even his ability to hear low frequencies Shinji had developed the ability to feel vibrations extremely acutely. He can detect the slightest movements within a 15-meter radius of himself through solid surfaces, 25 meters if standing on water or within mist or rain and a 10-meter radius from the air itself. From this he can detect the size anything moving around him and their direction as well as approximate weight. This is only effective on moving targets.

D-Ranked Partial Kaerujutsu
Shinjiro can grow either a single or pair of horns from anywhere on his head ranging from 3 inches to 3 meters in length. The style of horn can vary from a spike to various curves and loops but cannot be manipulated further after creation. These horns will always be coated in a thin layer of his own blood.
If Chiane thought, she was about to spar with a swordsman she was mistaken. Shinjiro was a demon, and she would have to prove herself worthy before he did her the honor of drawing his blades. “The possibilities are nearly endless” he agreed. It would be a challenge determining how best to utilize the skills the Genma provided him. He would have to trust his instincts and learn to rely on Vorashu more in combat, synchronizing and learning as he considered a new relevant application. Even now, he could feel the ancient shaman stirring within him, the familiar bloodlust and primal pouring surging through his veins. It was like drug, drawing him away from his cold and calculated training as an assassin for the Karagata family.

But his entire life was centered around conflict and fighting against opposing forces. He had learned to balance primal aggression and lethal precision, making him a truly fearsome opponent in close quarters. The Overseer nodded, content to answer the woman’s questions. There was a professional respect there, understanding the struggles of reviving the organization to its former glory. “There are only four full swordsmen including myself; Tsukino and Kaguya Hitachi whom you recruited, as well as my apprentice, Karugata Asami. There are four Daggers currently, with a few other prospects to test, possibly another full member” he replied. He intended on assessing the Daggers quite soon, now that they had all been recalled to the village. The war had made it difficult to coordinate much training, but he hoped they had been growing stronger. After a month of rigorous training, the weakest among them would be eliminated and he expected that Mondai at least might be ready to become a full member if given the appropriate shove. Shinjiro exhaled slowly, wisps of green chakra flowing with his breath as his teeth sharpened beneath his mask. He had never seen the need to permanently modify his teeth when he could transform at will.

Ravenous Maw
D-rank Partial Kaerujutsu
This technique enables Shinjiro to transform his jaw and teeth to be able to unhinge to a half a meter in diameter. His teeth become shark-like, with various rows layered in his jaw. With each bite, shards of his teeth and small pieces of flesh will lodge themselves in his opponent’s wounds and fester inside the opponent’s body.
Naturally, Shinjiro was well attuned to sensing fear in his prey. It seemed Chiane was quite confident, or at least brave. It wasn’t as uncommon as one might think to not be intimidated upon first meeting Shinjiro. His stature was rather average after all, and his rippling lean muscle was typically hidden beneath a cloak, though among shinobi such a physique was quite common. It was his reputation more than anything that caused strangers to fear him. But as famous as he was both within Kirigakure and across the world, more often than not he was simply perceived as just any other handsome young man with perhaps a few too many weapons. Like always however, he was certain Chiane would be left with a much different impression of him by the end of their little spar.

He noted the silvery chakra in her hand. That was something he hadn’t witnessed before, and for the life of him he had no idea what properties it contained. Best to avoid direct contact until he was sure. But as she circled around him, he remained standing in place, even closing his eyes as he waited for her. To an untrained eye his guard would appear down, eyes closed, hands in his pockets and his stance rather casual, only slightly angled and braced. But to a warrior, it would be apparent the monster that he was. Aware of every movement around him, waiting for any opportunity to counter strike. One misstep, the slightest hesitation and any number of transformations or lightning-fast attacks could erupt from him in an instant. He chuckled mirthlessly as she realized he was the Overseer now. It seemed she was out of touch, which likely also meant she hadn’t witnessed him fight in the numerous tournaments he had participated in over the years. “Yes, and a Bannin too. A real one” he growled lowly as his body erupted in an aura of deep green chakra. 8 octopus tentacles emerged; from along his back and from his hips. Two wrapped around his torso protectively, two went high guarding above his head and the remaining four extended out in each direction, writhing and waiting defensively. He was being quite generous and patient, though the longer she waited to strike the further he would transform himself. Either way suited him just fine.

Octopus Arms
B-Rank Partial Kaerujutsu
This technique allows Shinjiro to grow up to 8 Octopus tentacles from anywhere on his body. These tentacles can be formed anywhere from 1 meter in length to expand to a maximum size of 25 meters. The suctions along the tentacles will rip and tear any flesh grabbed by them with strength equal to his own as well as transmit venom into the wound.
Shinjiro began to chuckle lowly, “You’re too valuable to kill…unless you prove too weak to bother keeping alive” he considered. And with that, he decided he had grown bored of playing the waiting game. A small test then. Lashing out with the tentacle closest to her he would attempt to grab her leg with 35 Strength and Speed, however if she attempted to cut the flesh, she would note it was quite resilient with a full 46 Strength Durability. Turning slowly to face her, his eyes slowly opened. “The world has changed. Kirigakure has become weak, and vulnerable. Too many of our strongest turn rogue and have to be put down…Like Katsu and Aimi. Others become broken and washed up like Shiv, perhaps even you. Now more than ever we need the Seven to be strong and feared.” He asserted. He despised the weakness he perceived in the village. Even Maido was presumed dead, killed by yet another of their rogue shinobi; Mistaki Shio. Only a select few knew the truth but it was still pitiful. Even Konoha was stronger than them currently, and once they realized that it was only a matter of time before retaliation came.

"FOUR! Four, well fuck... Four times the amount I had. A Bannin too, huh? Impressive... but you can insult me better than that. Please... It was an insult to my face to be called a Bannin in the first place. An excited child, made a Bannin? Ready to face the world? Hah..." He voice was growing a little more grumpy as she was going to wait patiently. Those tentacles that shot out at her were... new to say the least but this wasn't her first fight. With a quick series of back steps, a small hop and a roll out of his way, she was able to at least dodge the first strike that she had been prepared for. Training was one thing she was generally good at... but she knew he was faster. She knew what he was capable of... if anything, she remembered how he used to be and what potential he had. "Let me... inform you about what life is like when you lose it all. When every little thing you sought after... goes to hell." Her voice was darker, angry, even bitter. There was hatred in her yellow eyes as she went to channel chakra through her body, billowing off of her like steam, grasping at a small kunai on her hip and chucking it towards him with a quick flash of her hand, the kunai coated in a small layer of steam. While she did that, she made sure to keep talking, at least... for now. "Overseer of a dead organization, ME!, some little pitiable daggers." Her right arm clenched viciously around her sword, switching hands quickly as she went to channel her chakra through the metal appendage, going to take a moment. "Three people I admired dead, two comrades gone in an instant, losing an arm, a war I couldn't care any less about, and for WHAT?! To be given a thank you, to be praised for my diligence, my hard work? But look at you... You became quite the Overseer... If anything, I honestly think I hate you." With that, she fired her arm not at him but to the side of him, this sudden whirl of metal clanging to the wall as she used it to propel herself forward and get in close.

With a sudden release of the this metal hook from the wall, attempting to land near enough to him to rush forward and with a thrust forward, she paused mid-way and went for a sudden low kick, hoping to set the far more skilled fighter off balance with wild action. Even after that Kunai had been sent flying forward, she figured she'd not do too much to the host of Vorashu. What she was hoping for was to make a statement. One that she had had to make all too often, and once before with someone she cared about. Just because she was down, never meant she was out. "You've no fucking idea how LITTLE I care about all of this, when everything is just handed to me like I'm some joke!" There was a pause though as she went to grin, while performing her movements. "But... Isn't that right, Karagata... Vorashu, an organization, family money and backing... Are you a self-made man...?" She was standing there, almost asking him to hit her, knowing he could but wondering how he'd react to her goading.

Shinjiro continued to assess the woman. She seemed bitter, washed up. He wondered if there was any use left in her. He had never known the woman in her younger years, but he had heard she had been ambitious and a promising talent. One of those upstarts that seemed they would reach greatness, but it seemed she had been derailed. In another lifetime, he could have turned out the same way. He had reached Bannin and claimed the title of Overseer of the Seven at the age of 17, a feat he believed was comparable to Chiane’s own success. However, he continued to push himself, seeking out the strongest in the world and never for a second becoming complacent with his power. Even now, he knew he was only just beginning to reach his potential.

The way she responded to his feeling strike was simple, but effective. She moved much slower than his attack but was efficient. He could only assume she was holding back so as to not overplay her hand. That was wise. But it could also prove to be her downfall. Shinjiro’s patience only lasted so long, and if one had the privilege of being able to attack first against him it was in their best interest to take it. Restraint was something Shinjiro had always struggled with. Raised in the harshest conditions, anything less than death was viewed as holding back to him. And even a swift end was often considered a mercy. His predatory eyes stared back at her, unwavering. He was well aware of the style of the Jouchaku clan, he had fought along several members over the years and knew the futility of defenses against their steam. But regardless, he was curious to experience it for himself. Drawing on the power of Vorashu his skin began to grow dense black lizard scales, covering his entire body and even his face.

Lizard Modification
B-Rank Partial Kaerujutsu
This technique allows Shinjiro to grow a layer of lizard scales over his skin, protecting him with equal Strength. Additionally, he can grow a long tail, up to 15 meters long that is capable of grabbing and wrapping around people or objects.
Her words had little impact on him. Clearly, she felt the need to vent about her failures, it helped him to better understand her mindset and what issues might hold her back in the future. But ultimately, he couldn’t relate to feelings of self-pity. It had been completely conditioned out of him through years of brutal torture. In comparison, the feelings she was experiencing seemed petty and childish to him. She spoke of the deaths of her comrades, was that supposed to mean something to him? “Get it together soldier” he growled, swatting away the kunai effortlessly with the nearest tentacle, not even flinching as it bellowed out in an explosion of steam. “People die, injuries happen. Fight through it, get stronger or die. That’s all there is to it. You’re a shinobi of Kirigakure” he scowled, as she launched her arm. A puppet limb, eh? He wondered if she had any hidden weapons in that thing. One of his many near death experiences had been from rogue shinobi human puppet. Since then, he had learned the value in armoring one’s body but still, some lingering puncturing scars remained across his torso.

Even her attempt at erratic movements seemed painfully slow and telegraphed to him. It seemed she had lost a step over the course of the war. Or at the very least she had been content to only fight those weaker than her, never truly pushing her limits and fighting against insurmountable foes as he had done all of his life. She would learn, or she would die. Punishing her foolishness for attempting such a futile attack, all four of his mid-height tentacles would lash out at her at 45 Speed. Two would grab her legs, the others would secure her arms. Slowly they would begin to constrict, nipping into her flesh with their suction cups and instantly bruising every point of contact as they held her with 30 Strength, though the more she struggled the tighter they would become, to the point of shattering her limbs if necessary.

Assuming she was secured, Shinjiro decided he would put on a bit of a show for the woman. A true statement of the type of foe she was really fighting. Green chakra would surge out from his body, forming a layer around his skin. His hair would lengthen and twist into braids and his limbs would grow a few inches in length, growing to about 6ft tall. Inside of his pocket his hand would contort as he manifested a new creature to play with, something that would be ideal for striking some fear into the woman. A simple sewer rat, about a foot long including its tail. The creature would form atop the tentacle holding her left leg, scurrying along as it approached her with the intent of climbing up her leg as she was potentially held in place by all four limbs.

Shinjiro scowled at the woman, though his mouth was still covered by his cloth mask. “What does it matter? Your rank, your title? Do you think I care about such things?” He questioned, laughing in a short huff of amusement as she asked him if he was self-made. “My father Karagata Izune trained me to be the perfect weapon. I was given the choice to either die or become strong. Every day of my life I have fought for my survival, for the privilege of life. For the village, for the Karagata. But in the end, all of our lives are meaningless, those that we lose, those lives we take. They are nothing. I don’t care what reason you have to want to live. But I’ll give you the same choice. Die or keep fighting every day to become the best version of yourself” he asserted. This woman was beginning to annoy him. If one didn’t care about their life and their purpose, then there was no point in continuing to live, let alone be a member of the seven swordsmen.

There was a grunt of pain from her as those tentacles grasped at her body. Her whole form tensed in pain, not an unfamiliar feeling, and she bit down on her tongue, making blood flow down from either side of her lips as she was staring directly into the face of the new Overseer. She knew she had been outmatched from the start and she was gritting her teeth... but her limbs stayed relaxed as she wasn't unfamiliar with what was happening to her. There was a slow inhale of breath, a deep moment of thinking before she inhaled sharply and spat forward onto the Overseer's face. This thick globule of blood landing firmly right across his cheek. Even if she was bitter, washed up, and tired of all of the death she has dealt it, she still had fight in her. With a cocky grin over her whole face, teeth filled with blood and eyes focused directly onto him, she was going to speak while she channeled chakra through her whole body, not hiding it. "I didn't lay down and die when I lost my arm... I didn't lay down and die in the war... what do you think my answer is...?" She asked him as she was looking towards the rat, the chakra in her whole body focusing on her arm as she went to forcefully, slowly adjust her arm towards the creature. "I'd rather fight... Every single second of this miserable life... than just lie down and die..." Even as the flesh on her body strained and tore at the tentacles, small strips of metal peeling off her arm, she forced that arm into position as best she could before letting it go. A small port opening up in the center hand where a concentrated blast of chakra rocketed forth, attempting to neutralize the rat at the very least, even if she knew it wouldn't have any effect against Shinjiro.

Thanks to the close distance, she was feeling the singe of pain across her face as she was huffing breath, her eyes open but she was already a little tired. It hadn't been long ago that she was just relaxing and not in any real fight... but that immense blast had taken a little more out of her than expected. "Fuck... this sucks..." There was a low huff from under her breath as she just stared forward at Shinjiro. "Praise be to the flawless, all-pervasive illumination of the great mudra. Turn over to me the jewel, lotus and radiant light." She muttered as she was grinning slightly still under her breath.

Shinjiro chuckled lightly as Chiane spat of glob of blood and spit at him. If she were lesser born or insignificant to the village, he would have ripped her apart for such an offense. But she had quite the reputation and was a noble like him. “To think, you once led the Seven” he considered, clearly disappointed in her weakness. By now his venom would begin seeping into her body through the suction cups, spreading his paralytic poison. She would be granted one final action it seemed before her body would fail to respond to her. She would have precisely just enough function left to be able to speak, an intentional design which made this poison ideal for torture. He hummed in consideration at her words, she wanted to live. But for what if she remained so weak after all these years? He made no effort to stop her as she channelled chakra and blasted the rat away. At least she had enough survival instinct to spare herself the agony of having her insides devoured and rotted while she was still alive. But that didn’t mean she would be spared entirely. He would punish her for her weakness, and in doing so find her breaking point. For he had already decided that if she were to live she would serve the seven once more and be molded to finally reach her potential. “We will see” he said at last in response to her defiant will to live.

And then the large tentacles guarding his chest would unravel and extend along the ground, allowing Shinjiro to pull his hands out of his pockets. He would continue to utilize this opportunity to train and experiment with new techniques, courtesy of this woman that had interrupted his training sanctuary. He laughed, a sinister chortle of amusement as Chiane cursed her misfortune. In that moment, the young man truly looked a demon, blood dripping down from his horns, as he extended his jaw, pulling his mask free to reveal row upon row of deadly shark teeth. “Oh, you have no idea” he warned, his predatory eyes seemingly empty and soulless as he prepared to give the woman a taste of what had endured in his path to power. His hands formed seals, green lightning sparking from his palms as he held them outstretched before delivering a concentrated burst of electricity into her chest.
Poison UsedShow
(transmitted through octopus suction cups last post) [Shinigami’s Kiss] (Four 250ml bottles)
A-Rank Coating Poison
A poison utilized by Shinjiro in order to render his victim's helpless, paralyzed from the neck down. In its original state this thick poison has a grey coloration though when infused in Shinjiro’s body it can be applied from any of his bodily fluids including his blood, saliva or sweat. Just a few drops introduced to the victim's system via entry though skin contact, blood stream or mucous membrane is enough for the poison to begin taking effect. It will begin as a slight tingling sensation in the area surrounding the entry point of the poison, before developing into full blown paresthesia of the entire body before the paralysis sets in. Once the paralysis is in place, it will prevent the victim from controlling their conscious motor functions. They will still be able to breath, their heart will continue to function as normal, but they will have no conscious control over their body. The only part not affected is their ability to move their eyes, slightly turn their head, and their ability to speak.

After performing the correct hand seals, the user will charge their hand with raiton, over the next three posts being able to fire a single burst of electricity from their palm in a single direction. This is produced as up to a 10m wide line which extends up to 5m into the air and travels a maximum of 25m from the user at [Control] Speed. The wave will apply the shocking effect and reduce the Willpower of any living thing it strikes by 3 for 3 posts by electrically interfering with the brain's nervous signals.
The young Demon of the Mist huffed in amusement at the sudden prayers. He supposed the Jouchaku being sworn to the Shiimu family, made them rather religious. But the smirk meant that she wasn’t quite taking the situation seriously yet. In his mind this was a bonding experience, she would grow stronger, mentally and physically or she would break and be disposed. But one way or another he would discover just how much fight she had in her. And how much he could make her truly hate him in order to grow the strength needed to one day kill him and become a truly worthy Overseer of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. “I suggest you take this opportunity to fortify your mind, or hone that chakra control of yours to fight. You won’t be able to move but you can still use chakra without hand seals. Surely you have more of a will to live than this” he taunted, toying with his prey. Did she think she would be spared simply because she had a snarky attitude? No, that wouldn’t be nearly enough to convince him of her worth. Forming another brief set of seals he held out two fingers that again sparked with green electricity. He fired two shots to her chest and one to her stomach, burning localized holes through her clothing and searing her skin while wracking the area with more electrocution.

Pain... pain was all Chiane knew. That poison that seeped into her veins and permeated her whole body had each nerve locking up. There was nothing in this world quite like an effective posion and she knew that all too well. Her breathing was the only thing that she could manage to maintain at the moment and focusing on that was all she needed. That sensation of having each part of you refusing to listen wasn't new to her... but it was certainly an unwelcome feeling. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction of her screams... if she could help it. Her eyes were able to at least close as she let her mind wander, the best way to rid herself of the pain to come. Thoughts of her youth, a young girl living among her clan. She remembered those festivals that kept her enamored, the joyous times where she got exactly what she wanted and how she wanted it. Iyashii Commerative Day. Her mind was forcefully brought back to reality as a shocking jolt lit her system up. It felt like there was a burning in her throat. Shinji would get some response from her, a grunt of pain. The want to move her fingers and yet the inability to even move at all.

With a low huff, she forced her eyes closed and back to that place. Iyashii Commemorative Day, where she first learned she even wanted to learn the blade. Even now in her older age, that was her favorite holiday, one where she felt she could almost emulate the hero of the titular tale. There was a breath from her as she had forced herself to focus on the thought, before she was violently ripped back to reality once more. This time, when her eyes opened, she let out some air, in almost a gasp. Raiton chakra always had a way of making her whole body feel empty, the wind fully knocked out of her, pained but weightless. Shinji would noticed fury in her eyes though, daggers being stared directly at him. She knew that she would be here a while... but already... she had set her mind to it. She was going to kill him. One way or another. Her breathing was slowly growing deeper as she had to close her eyes once more.

Learning the basics of Kenjutsu with her father, the pride on his face, the delight in his very expression... before it washed away to disappointment and anger, punishment for disobeying. The scar she bore across her body that made her realize that she needed to listen to those who knew better. Who gave orders. Rebellious was always her spirit though. Especially during her years at the academy. Strength, speed, fiery passion and a wild streak made her stand out among the other students. Her two early genin partners rang across her vision. A Toukai... what was his name... she couldn't remembered. Massive in size, massive in weapon... she wondered if he ever got further than Genin. Kuro... the Aisu. Her first ever mission was with him, what was supposed to be a simple encounter with a group of pirates that were bothering some merchants... turned out to be run by an Missing Ninja that wasn't known about at the time. He had been essential in letting them in and getting her out when she had fought the former shinobi. She won... but she lost.

This time, the shock of chakra rocked her system, making her groan out again but far more truly than before. That one hurt... her breathing was a little more rough now as she was forcing herself each time to go back to that place. That one spot where she could slip away and think. This time though... that shock only served to remind her of the time with her surgery. The arm that was lost... the will that was lost... the will that was returned to her after a strong talking to, after fighting tooth and nail, after... there was a shudde through her body as she could feel the bolts in her arm aching. It was a noise she'd never forget in her whole life. The rending of her own flesh, the grinding of it, the bones as they were forced to hold onto these metal parts. Tekentsu grafting... it was something she had been able to hear in her dreams, feel in her dreams, smell in her dreams... but it was worth it. A new arm, a new purpose, a new life.

Another gout of pain rocked her but this time, she didn't open her eyes. No... she was thinking even further in... Kohon, her former master. Leader of the Seven before her. Strong in spirit, she remembered his loss. Each of these moments that flashed across her minds eye was pain. It was strife, struggle, confusion. The sight of Kirigakure, staring forward at the village from her office... the Seven broken and fractured like she was. The war... chaos, blood, testing... tired. She was just so very tired of it all. She'd never let herself lay down and die but... she just wasn't sure if she had the same gumption as before. The taste of sake ran across her senses and a dark figure on the other side of a table from her. A raised glass in toast, a smile on their face... a little bit of peace in her life for just a few seconds. That'd be nice.

The next brush with pain came to her though as she opened her eyes, that Raiton chakra finally giving way... that poison coursing though her. She didn't realize she had been gritting her teeth violently enough to cause her to bleed and she stared directly at Shinji with a murderous look and he could see the muscles in her throat contracting and tensing as she forced out the words. "I'll... kill... you..." her words came out with such venom, her fangs fully bared... She was a swordsman through and through but she was a Kiri shinobi to the very last.

Shinjiro observed the woman’s reactions to pain. She seemed to have a strong mind at least, accepting the reality that she was completely at his mercy, yet refusing to simply give up and die. Still, he didn’t feel like he quite knew her yet. What her limits were and what was the true potential of her strength and resolve. Typically it was quite rare for Shinjiro to utilize ninjutsu but he had been developing a growing appreciation for raiton, inspired to develop the new skill after his loss to Taiga in the Aroma country tournament several four or five months ago now. He didn’t want to invest too heavily, a handful of useful tricks was all he really needed. There was still so much untapped potential as a Jinchuuriki of Vorashu and one never knew just how long they had before a truly fearsome opponent might get the better of them. He would need to be stronger than ever. And so too did he require his subordinates to have the same incessant need to better themselves.

His hands moved into seals once more as he experimented with a more direct current of electricity. Green sparks crackled and then roared to life in the palm of his hand as he maintained it for a moment similar to the Raikiri technique and then suddenly directed the electricity outward, leaping from his hand into the woman’s chest, though at a reduced Strength of only 20.

Raiton • Lightning Surge
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After forming the necessary handseals the user will manifest lightning around one of their hands, then aiming at a target they can cause lightning to surge from their hand towards a location within 25 meters at a Speed of [Control] and with a shocking Strength of [Control]. This jutsu can be maintained for as long as the user has chakra, able to move their hand about to direct to other targets in a linear fashion.
He met her eyes when they finally opened. There was not a trace of compassion or mercy, nor even any sort of sadistic pleasure. Merely, he was bored, and she was a convenient tool to train with and perhaps a valuable weapon to be honed. However, a barely discernable smirk crept upon his face as she leveled a murderous gaze at him. “You’ll have to train much, much harder to have any hope of killing me” he said simply, stating what he believed to be an irrefutable fact. Stepping closer he brought his face about a foot away from hers. “The difference between you and me is that I never stop training. I get stronger every day and I never lose to the same person twice” he growled lowly. His body surged with more green chakra as he began to prepare another technique.

The next time they made eye contact his chakra would surge into her body and she feel her mind break and bend to his will. “If you ever want to defeat me, you will rejoin the Seven, you will train every day until you drop and you will fight the strongest opponents you can find and defeat every single one of them. Only then will you even have a chance” he scowled, tossing her across the large room like discarding a crumpled-up ball of trash. The extra appendages he had manifested would be absorbed back into his body, save for his teeth and horns. It was obvious he had greatly overestimated the woman, there were a hundred different ways he could kill her with any one of his skillsets. Forget his swords, Kaerujutsu, poisons or even ninjutsu or genjutsu. His bare hands would have been enough he decided. He wondered how many years it would take the woman to become truly strong, he hoped for the sake of the village that it could be done within the next couple of years.

*[Genjutsu • Defeat]
S-Ranked Status Genjutsu
Prerequisite: 46 Will Power
The user has to be within 5 meters of the target. By forming the hand seals and meeting eyes with the opponent, they will quickly fall into this technique. With each step the genjutsu user takes, the victim will feel a steadily increasing feeling of defeat. When the user is finally right in front of the target, they will be so overwhelmed that they will fall to their knees in fear and have a horrible sick feeling of dread. While the attempt to make any fatal attack by the genjutsu user will immediately break the genjutsu, this feeling in the victim will make them answer almost any question with complete honesty. The word fatal is key, however, as the user can freely beat and physically injure the opponent while they are in this trance, they simply cannot kill. This feeling of defeat can last for up to 10 posts.
Sighing again Shinjiro regarded the crumpled heap of a woman as she collided with the far wall, some 40 meters away. At this point he felt like a cat playing with a dead mouse, there was hardly any entertainment to be had, let alone any challenge. But he supposed in a way they were still helping one another train so it wasn’t completely pointless. “If I remove the poison, do you think you can fight? You still alive over there?” he called out. He had made sure to tone down his raiton jutsu enough to only cause localized paralysis at most. If her willpower was strong enough she might be able to muster up the ability to keep fighting. Futile or not, it was apparent he didn’t intent to kill her, so it served in her best interest to push herself as much as possible and achieve any semblance of improvement. Moreover, the more skills he showed the better she could prepare to one day kill him.

There was just one more raiton jutsu he wanted to try out, something he had seen Kasai perform before. It was a handy technique. Forming handseals he flowed raiton chakra into the ground, electrifying all around him, spreading it out to a 50-meter diameter around him at 35 Speed but with only 15 Strength. He frowned, it seemed he didn’t quite have the chakra control to make it particular effective at a long range like what the Mizukage could do. But that was to be expected. Shinjiro was a close quarters specialist, his chakra control had always been subpar and only in the last few years had he even learned more than D-rank Ninjutsu.

Raiton • Voltaic Zone
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals, the user will seep Raiton chakra in an area around them with a 25m diameter. This will produce an electric current on the ground in this area visible as crackling lightning on the surface. Any other than the user who step into this zone will have the shocking effect applied and their legs will sustain [Control] Strength shocks, and any metallic objects aside for those wielded by the user will act as lightning rods, targeted by jolts of electricity. These current lasts 3 posts, while it ends immediately if the user leaves the area.
Sighing again, the man allowed the electricity to dissipate. “That’s enough of that” he muttered. He was already feeling some fatigue, much more than if he simply stuck to what he was good at. “What do you say? I’ll fight you with only my bare hands, do you have it in you? Where’s that conviction now?” he said as he approached slowly, step by step as the feeling of dread and insurmountable odds would once again grow within the woman as his genjutsu ravished her mind.
