The pride of the weakest swordsman (lonely, potential open training)

Post by Mre-face » Sat Jul 30, 2022 9:35 am

Mondai had grown complacent after the war and his father's death he was too disillusioned to continue improving so he grew weaker... Lazy on and off training and instead spent time in hot springs, drinking, going on dates, and hanging out with his friends. At the end of the war, his strength would be considered A-rank but due to his laziness, it had grown trailer still strong enough for the position of Swordsman but not as strong as he should have been his flaming passion had dwindled out but when the meeting of the seven took place and him getting promoted to swordsman he realized he needs to improve now more than ever. He needed to take back his strength seeing as he was now a potential target and is known as the "weakest swordsman" poked his pride in a good and bad way. "No more! I can't let down the big man like this! If he saw me now he would laugh at how pathetic I've become. Right, Naomi?" His enthusiastic narration to his sister was met with an unenthusiastic smile bringing up their father was always a bit painful even if they talked about the good memories "Right. But even if he saw you now, always believed in you, you know? I-Nevermind go do what you have to do!" Naomi stopped herself from continuing she didn't want to bring Mondai's spirit down. Mondai exited him now more finely cleaned and decorated house being a decorated veteran and seven swordsmen have given him the fortune he previously thought impossible. He brought his massive greatsword a blade he had little to no proficiency with hell even swinging and carrying the thing was extremely difficult but now Mondai had grown taller and stronger so wielding it was now closer to possible.

This time instead of going to the usual he went to the outskirts of the slums to remind himself where he came from. He read the ancient book of warfare once again leaving his greatsword to the side. He used his folding sheath. He looked towards the "Nebenhut" or Tail guard and "Hangen" or Hanging guard. Two guards which at this point Mondai in Mondai's swordsmanship came extremely naturally further exasperated by him using them intuitively during the war. he simply needed to brush off the rust and properly learn them officially. For him, it was simply a stance with the sword behind him and the reverse with the sword pointing towards the fact that he hadn't bothered to learn it was telling how laid back he had been he widened his stance and placed his blade firmly behind he started from Nebenhut. Swinging the blade in the air rapidly and pointed the blade at the very top perfectly moving into "Hangen". And with power yet still maintaining a rigid structure and crisp technique. Different combos transitioned into different slashes and guards seamlessly. Mondai's firey passion was back in his swordsmanship. He restarted but this time from Hangen he pointed the blade over his head almost lazily towards a random bottle some drunkard had probably placed there while his Falcon blade was primarily a blade made for cutting its profile still allows for thrusts if needed. He lunged forwards with an explosive step and thrust the blade into the bottle shattering it into several pieces from there he switched to "Wechsel" or Change guard pointing the blade downwards before looping around back into Tail guard everything was seamless. It felt good that what had once given him trouble had now become trivial to Mondai even learning to learn two different guards at the same time. Mondai had learned the tail guard and hanging guard with minimal effort. After all, wasn't this what this was about showing proper effort? So long as he grit his teeth like he used to everything would flood back seamlessly. Mondai seeing his own growth ignited the passion he once had it wasn't something he had previously thought of during his time in the war...

The pride of the weakest swordsman (lonely, potential open training)

Post by Mre-face » Mon Mar 20, 2023 9:13 pm

As Mondai clutched his blade, he looked towards the slums where he was born and raised, and instantly the memories of his harsh upbringing came back to him as if not even a day had gone by...
Back in the days of struggle.
phpBB [video]
"Let's fuck these bitches up!" Seven maybe eight years ago Mondai and his three other friends were surrounded by a group of older kids, sure they outnumbered their foes by almost double, however these kids were larger and loved to pick on the smaller ones anything from food to money personal items or just to assert dominance. Five versus three seems like good odds on paper if they weren't severely outweighed. Admittedly they had been pushed around by these kids, but it had never escalated to this point and the reason for this scrap was because Mondai stood up to them realizing survive here wasn't for the weak and even if Mondai knew his friends were terrified they couldn't show that they could be pushed around and stepped on.

The first of his friend Naomichi Tsuyoshi of a smaller stature and more meek nature but by far the most kindhearted of the bunch. Unfortunately, the ghettos of Kirigakure didn't award kindness, only strength. The first to be taken out of this fight as he charged in to attack, getting kicked into the wall and garbage that littered the streets. That made this fight a four versus three. Naturally, the elder brother Tadao was sent into a frenzy attacking his brother's opponent who so happened to be the "left-hand man" of the kids, being the "weaker" of the three.

Leaving Sone Aoki and Kimura Katsu to both take on the bullies strongest member known as Ryuji, a freakishly large thirteen-year-old, often being mistaken for an older teen due to his sheer size and older face. Aoki being the more immature and quick tempered of them all, often shouting and posturing between his lifelong friend Kimura Katsu the more laidback of the two with a sharp wit able to maneuver situations intelligently.

While Mondai was left to square off against the "right-hand" man.

Too late to back down now Mondai thought as the larger kid readied in his stance. Mondai remembered the little combat training he had trained with his father up to this point, only with practice blades that his father had made. Dodging under the bigger kid's massively telegraphed attack. After weaving under, Mondai threw a sloppy kick at his enemies back while the other two were brawling. Tadao managing to take down his rival. His protective instinct as the elder, giving him the edge needed for him to assist in the fight against Ryuji. Now it was the strongest vs the other three, Aoki and Kimura were struggling but with a third maybe they could turn things around seeing as they managed to deal some damage.

The weakest member turned around with an annoyed expression, tackling Mondai into a nearby wall, which caused Mondai to lose a bit of his breath and wince as his back smashed and rubbed against the hard stone walls, irritating the skin underneath and stressing the fabric almost to the point of being ripped.

Realizing he was trapped, Mondai kneed his opponent and elbowed his spine, which caused the bully to raise his posture and grab Mondai's head and face smashing it into the wall before punching Mondai in the face twice before Mondai managed to break out his grasp and slipped under the third punch causing the trouble-makers hand to smash into the wall likely causing a small fracture. Which Mondai exploited by rushing in as his opponent winced in pain throwing three wild hooks before finishing with an uppercut that was caught countered with a gut check followed up by a big right hand, at this point Mondai had figured out that was his enemy's favorite move, so he again weaved under it grabbing his stomach in the meanwhile with two under hooks tripping his enemy and sitting untop of him and raining a flurry of punches.

As Mondai was punching in the dominant position, he noticed Ryuji was fighting the trio almost effortlessly, but it was clear he was damaged and getting tired. Tadao had climbed upon his back, punching the back of his head as the others were tag teaming him, which was finished quickly by an uppercut that sent Aoki
flying, knocking him out cold while Tadao got grabbed and slammed onto Kimura pinning him with the elder brother and got his head kicked as he tried to remove his friend off his body.

Mondai panicked, seeing Ryuji turn his enraged gaze towards and slowly approaching Mondai. As Mondai was on top he looked for the nearest object which happened to be a small piece of wood, derbies finishing his fight against the right-hand man. As he looked up, he saw Ryuji's gaze with his arms crossed, it appears that he had some honor.

"Ya two done? Ya can step if ya yield!" While that offer was tempting seeing as Mondai was shaking and exhausted from his fight with his head ringing, accepting defeat now would be accepting being walked over. It was better to go down fighting at the very least because even if Mondai were to lose they would think twice in fighting them again. "Might as well finish this don't ya think ya oversized prick."
Guardian vs The don. The stronger vs the strongest. Mondai vs Ryuji!
phpBB [video]
"Das exactly what'a I wanted to hear anyway" Ryuji said with a scary smirk, enjoying the idea of them continuing this fight despite his damage. "This is where ya die!" Ryuji circled and cocked his shoulders the crowd often made bets and cheered on their fight kirigakure's slums was truly among the worst places to grow up. As he was done cocking his shoulder Ryuji slowly approached towards Mondai not even holding up his hand before slowly raising his hands slightly having a "hands low fighting stance" Mondai realized that he would have to use his smaller size to avoid as much damage as possible and counter against his stronger foe.

However, Ryuji was an experienced and talented fighter he fainted a jab causing Mondai to instinctively cover his head and try to slip the punch before being met with an uppercut to the gut that nearly lifted Mondai and followed up with a kick towards the torso that Mondai managed to block but was sent flying into a wall. Barely managing to stand, but his will was stronger than his body and he managed to stand despite his damage, but he had to find a way to win soon, or he would surely lose.

As Ryuji approached, he would now throw a real left jab but faint the right uppercut for a left hook that Mondai weaved under with a gut punch that barely fazed the monstrous tween followed up with a left hook a kick to the leg to throw off his balance and finishing with a thuggish kick to the chest akin to that of a push kick but much less discipline in comparison to a martial artists version.

As Ryuji lost balance so did his temper fully, rushing Mondai and grabbing his neck lifting him up and choking him, but before the bestial bully would attempt to throw the future shinobi Mondai wrapped his legs around Ryuji's torso and hitting the elbows a wrapping his arms around his choking arms freeing Mondai's head where he managed to land a headbutt even if it felt like his head was on the verge of bursting or at least it felt like that and the headbutt didn't help.

The headbutt made Ryuji reel back in anger as Mondai regained his footing as the brute telegraphed a haymaker as he was enraged that Mondai exploited by throwing his own haymaker dodging Ryuji's at the same time the headbutt and haymaker combined with the younger Mondai's exceptional strength for his size and the monsterous size, strength and momentum caused his nose to break. This wasn't enough to stop the fight however, it was a clash of wills and Ryuji growled in fury. Mondai felt like his consciousness was fading and his breath felt like it was escaping him, but running wasn't an option right now

"OI! RYUJI!? The fuck is y'all doing? Pickin on kids smaller than yerself EH!" Near instantly, the rest of the defeated bullies bowed their heads, but not Ryuji.

Mondai looked towards the booming voice, it appears that the local delinquent gang had appeared and scolded Ryuji and his friends for his actions. Walking past Mondai and punching him in the gut to force a bow. "That's where yer damn head should be!" Grabbing by the back of his neck and redirecting him, likely for more scolding. The others followed suit with their head low in shame.

"Oi, Kid, What's yer name?" Another older delinquent looked towards Mondai "Uuuuhh Mondai!" "Mondai, huh? Like no problem? Weird name." He said with a smirk. Before looking Mondai in the eyes "You and yer friends did good they're tough those kids specially Ryuji brute that he is but either way not many could survive a fight with him let alone someone your size give him some trouble. Shit, even people my age can get their shit pushed in by 'im. Ya did good son. 'ere for yer troubles" Offering some money from his pocket. Mondai was thankful but felt the need to decline his offer as he bowed his head with respect. "I appreciate it greatly, but no, I can't accept"

The thug responded with a harsh tone, "I ain't askin'! 'n raise yer goddamn head up, you ain't do nun, and I'm just some guy!" Despite his rough appearance and harsh tone, he didn't have a need for formalities and was generous. "Boss, I'll give him a scoldin' and I hafta' be there, but you and yer lil ninja's take care! That sounds good, ma ninja? Yeah, sounds good!"

Refering to oneslef as a 'ninja' was a way to feel more powerful as he dapped up Mondai before walking away with swagger in his bouncy thuggish step. Mondai reunited with his friends battered and bruised, leaning on each other for support, smilling along the way "Are you all okay?" Naomichi beeing concered as always "Ryuji's a real tough son of a bitch!" "Ya got that right, sheesh." Aoki and Kimura talked among themselves pretending to be more fine then they actually were. "Assholes kicked my brother" Tadao still annoyed at his brother's humiliation. "Sorry I couldn't help more-" "Nah it's fine Tsu. OI guys! I got some money, let's get something to eat!" Mondai said with an enthusiastic smile and almost in unison everyone else shared with joy.

Good memories. Have things even changed, I am still fighting just like I did then? Memories plauged Mondai's mind with doubt, but he had to gather his strength and press forward.

Hail-mary Haymaker
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The practitioner positions themselves in a fighting stance and performs a large haymaker with their dominant hand smashing their opponent's nose in an attempt to break the cartilage. The sheer power can cause immense pain and as blood fills it will dampen their sense of smell often causing tears to run due to the natural reaction of the human body. Mondai's Strength must be 5 points higher than the opponent's Strength to achieve the desired effect of this technique.

Brawlin' Beat-em-up
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Years of random fighting has made Mondai oddly proficent in weaving improvised non specific combos these are mostly 3-5 hits. This can be used to deal damage to his opponent quickly, confuse or daze them. The pressure of the combos is also able to be utilized and open up his opponents defense with sheer pressure and combos. He can even use different combos to even fool his opponent by tweaking and changing different attacks.

Street Smarts
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Navigating the slums of Kirigakure is a dangerous place understanding the enviroment and surroundings is essential for survival being. Finding improvised weapons, whether it be a, broken bottles, bricks. walls, stairs, wooden debris. Mondai always has his own eyes open for any possible weapons within his enviroment.
C-rank HANASE!
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
When Mondai was younger the larger kids often utlised their size and strength to grab and throw the smaller young Mondai. Years of having to fend of bullies has made Mondai proficent in staving of grapples utlising either his speed or strength inorder to free his way out of potentially stronger opponents. Requiring 5 less strength his opponents to break free.

Scrapper's Revenge
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Mondai's will and strength have always worked in tandem most often displayed when attacked. Instinctively able to retaliate with thuggish attacks such as a headbutt, kick, or haymakers even if he is hit with a particularly heavy or painful attack. Able to essentially utilize his sheer force of will to follow through regardless of pain or strength of attack so long as he isn't knocked of his feet or hit with a particularly debilitating attack

Treat it like boxin', stick and move
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Mondai from a young age realized that sometimes utilising brute strength didn't work and moving and fighting at the same time was essential for survival. In this "technique" Mondai is able to dodge and circle around and attack simultaneously.

The pride of the weakest swordsman (lonely, potential open training)

Post by Mre-face » Tue Oct 10, 2023 11:26 pm

Pondering didn't solve anything he was still at the bottom of the barrel when it came down to it he knew that he needed to work now or be left behind the daggers were advancing quickly because of his personal negligence if he didn't spend so much time thinking or sulking around then maybe he would return to his original self during the war before he came home. The many battles he was in gave him plenty of experience the many chips and scratches on his sword and shield were repaired yet they remained like scars upon a body. However despite the many fights they never broke.

Especially his shield despite facing countless battles explosions and other mishaps it never seemed to buckle or yield at the beatings it took only a few scratches here and there it was truly miraculous however it wasn't only simple luck it was also a result of how the war had forced Mondai's skill to improve drastically lest he would be another mere number on a battle report. During his time the shield had almost become a second limb a simple extension of himself on the battlefield which resulted in him becoming an unbreakable aegis of warfare. Those that stood before him would be met with an unyielding barrier with their attacks rendered useless before facing their end and being cut down into pieces. Mondai couldn't imagine the hopelessness felt in those final moments or maybe they truly were defiant in the end. It didn't matter he was here now and he had become a disappointment to himself and he needed to show what he made of what kind of cloth he had been cut from.

He had been in the trenches since the day he was born nothing in his life came easy so why did he think it would be easy from now on why did he give up? He knew exactly why and he couldn't accept it they were coming for his spot if he didn't fight to get back to the strength that he used to be he would lose that very right that he dreamed so much of when he was young. Mondai did get an insight because of his current introspection his shield and sword fighting in the great war. He had recalled an off-hand sequence that he did during one of the battles he had participated specifically the battle of Oasis when he was at top of the wall and he had just gotten back up via his father and the remaining army climbing the walls. After successfully surviving long enough for back up to arrive Mondai would be leading the vanguard wasn't his plan but nonetheless the wall helped protect him and his comrades during that moment he was a whirlwind of shields and swords possibly because he had the rallying spirits of those behind him.

It wasn't that he performed a specific attack performed a specific combo or anything it was more that he entered a state of hyper-focus that allowed himself to keep himself safe by seeing every attack and every possible slight blur that could put him in danger even if it wasn't in direct view. Mondai needed to replicate that lest he would be caught in a similar situation and not be able to defend himself more specifically the reason he thought this was because upon seeing what the seven swordsmen were capable he knew he had to learn how to do that in order to even to be able to consider thinking about challenging them. More specifically Hisato was a sightless and trackless blur that managed to sneak up upon Nishiki who was a Tsukino an incredible feat considering their sense of smell. How could he possibly fight what he couldn't see hear or even smell it was an impossible task.

Mondai didn't really know how he could possibly train something like this it was truly something out of the ordinary Mondai was a workhorse for the most part he didn't really undergo more theoretical tasks his training has always been to simply crash his head into a wall over and over again until it breaks. He brainstormed several ideas until he realized that his family line had already landed on a solution. An ancient technique that would teach his eyes how to look at multiple fast moving objects that turn into static. With the fastest being that of raindrops but currently, it didn't rain despite how often Kirigakure tends to be rainy. It didn't matter he could find substitutions possibly as a warm-up.

Mondai had heard of birds within the rivers and seas of Kirigakure which are capable of incredible feats of speed rivaling some incredibly fast shinobi with mere wings. If he could watch them spot them mid-air and possibly even see them before they flew off with their pray. Hell even better if he could possibly catch one but that would be asking a lot.

Mondai placed himself by the shore and looked into the sky seeing mere dots because of high up they were the water rumbled quickly before the dot turned into a blur devouring a fish in seconds before ascending into the air within an instant it was remarkable that a mere bird was capable of such feats of speed. This would be the routine for a little while watching them snatch the fish but always being a moment behind until Mondai finally began seeing how the birds captured their pray even seeing the very flapping of their wings because he was so focused on every detail of their dive was captured with his mere vision it was extraordinary. However the strain was clear and it didn't rain yet so he couldn't further train his perception.

Mondai waited a day letting his eyes rest then awaited someplace where it was prone to rain, This time eating properly and meditating to prepare ahead. As soon as it began Mondai would attempt to track a cluster of rain perfectly without losing track and not only track them perfectly but then capture or slice each cluster flawlessly if he could do this then surely he could track any sort of blurry or obscured movement. Fighting an enemy is one thing but fighting an invisible enemy is impossible.

Mondai observed each cluster falling from the skies while he could only track a few drops he could at least track a few without losing complete sight of where they were going. Mondai was patient however he preferred a more methodical counterfighting style while he could force a slash that could likely cut the desired cluster by mere chance, he wanted to slice it with deliberate precision. If he didn't do precisely that then he didn't track each individual drop meaning he could never keep up with an insanely fast and blurry single target. If he could do this then he could fight one that was all he needed to learn how to do.

Mondai watched how each drop fell as he slowly grabbed his blade and went into his stance wrath ward everything was cooked back to explode at the perfect moment then for a moment each raindrop slowed and he could see a cluster he targeted it perfectly before slicing the cluster perfectly. But it wasn't a real opponent Mondai needed something real that was when he recalled the facility that was locked off to common shinobi and especially untouchable but the issue was Mondai was also seven swordsmen. he would find his way to the facility one way or another and test these skills against a specialized dummy.

Mondai upon entering one of the training rooms would find a dummy and then he would follow the instructions on how to give it enough chakra to replicate the kind of fighting style he was preparing for the technology was truly next level but it did give Mondai the simulation of the real thing.

The dummy would act as an independent puppet twitching into life before accelerating rapidly and then moving completely unorthodox before slowly turning it into a blur. Mondai would watch closely as it did so his prior training had allowed him to focus on the puppet's movements it approached him with blistering speed but he could make sense of it. He could finally see through his inevitable death, he could fight this because he saw how it moved it wasn't just a mirage of his defeat. The blur disappeared before it attacked Mondai blocking each sword strike before stepping back and doing what he did best. Assessing every fine detail of how it attacked he only needed to recognize its pattern before going on the counter-offensive.

Mondai blocked every attack with ease letting his shield absorb no damage from the attacks as they glanced off before he then anticipated its attacks before blocking with his shield chopping into its "neck" before he hacked into it once again to make sure that he had one the fight before putting it back into place so that it could be repaired.

Mondai's training was finally completed he could now see the unseen and it put him in a far safer position than he was before. Now he could consider challenging with a chance to properly fight the seven swordsmen and possibly climb the ranks as a result. His strength was growing by the minute.

An ancient technique that was passed down through the family a technique which requires immense precision and training in order to achieve. Those who learn this technique have learned how to track singular or even multiple immensely fast objects that would normally appear blurry or intangible within their speed range. Hidden objects can not only be tracked if covered in some way these objects can also be targeted by practitioners with immense precision meaning if a fighter were to show an opening when performing a normally blistering and unseeable attack with a near impossible opening, Mondai can then target that opening allowing him to exploit it properly and potentially turn the tide of battle in his favor.
