A new face to an old place

Post by Kanade » Thu Mar 09, 2023 7:40 pm

Chiaki wandered around, not knowing exactly where she was, given that she wasn't able to see landmarks yet in the mist was a bit terrifying for her, and it being her first time, she had no idea where she was or where she had been. She had decided to leave an anchor in the form of a hair tie at home which she had affixed to her head by putting her hair into a messy bun with it. Her butterflies seemed to be as disoriented as her, condensing so that they were quite conspicuously close to her. Clearly she was a swarm user.

Well, blindly wandering around wasn't going to get her very far. She channeled her chakra through her megallium bones and out into the surrounding area, getting a better sense for where everyone and everything was by its magnetic signature.

"Alright, so then the training grounds are this way." She said to herself, mostly, heading toward the training ground. The grey of the mist, the heaviness of it, and the overall dampening on noise that it gave were haunting to her, and her butterflies were not making anything better, since they were giving off the 'worry' pheromone. She almost bumped into a kiri ninja, and she clicked her hard silicate fingernails on her own headband as he sized her up, giving her a glare.

She left him, worry covering her steps and following in her wake like a funeral gown.

The alliance of Iwa and Kirigakure was sound, but she was still in a different village. She didn’t know her way around, and she knew the reputation of the ninja around here. They were made to kill someone to even graduate from the academy. So far, she had yet to even maim someone in a permanent way. So the genin that she was meeting was going to be, in a way, her senior in something that defined a ninja.

The ability to kill.

As Chiaki wondered around looking to the training grounds a weird sound could be heard. THUD... THUD... THUD in the distance. Well that might be a great way to locate the training grounds given that she was looking for. It should be very easy at this point following that sound to locate where it was coming from, as whoever was doing it was making no attempt to hide their location. Assuming Chiaki followed this noise they would eventually come into a semi visible clearing.

Eventually she would locate a person, someone that appeared to be around ten to twelve striking a tree with what appeared to be a white stick of some kind. They were wearing a bone white, loose fitting, long-sleeved, zip-up shirt, black pants cut off around the mid-calf with bandages wrapped around his ankles and traditional shinobi sandals. His stark white hair, that goes slightly past his shoulders matched the extremely pale skin that showed through his clothes, almost like he had never seen the sun before or that he was fighting off an illness.

The clothing on his arms and legs were pristine at this moment, but next to the young boy might be something more surprising. A pile of white shards and powder of some kind. It took moments a white stick, now being close enough and looking it was a blade came out of the boys sleeve before the boy gave the tree three very strong slashes, much stronger then a boy of his age most likely should be able to do before the white blade snapped, turning into dust and shards of white, before the boy threw the hilt of his blade into the pile next to him. Chiaki had come across Li Kaguya attempting to train his bones to work with him in the way he needed, but that appeared to be difficult given their constant shattering after a couple of hits.

If Chiaki walked towards Li, once she got within the fifteen meters of her butterfly pheromones, Li mid swing would stop and began to slowly look around for the source of this feeling. To Li this worry was the same worry that you got when you were being watched by someone, eventually Li would turn to face Chiaki, his bright sky blue eyes piercing the fog as he stared at the person in front of him. It didn't take him long to realize who this was, given her headband, so with the respect that Chiaki deserved Li put his sword into the dirt before bowing at a full 45 degrees to Chiaki before standing back up and remaining silent and waiting for instruction it seemed. In the mist of this place, Li almost looked like a spectre of a lost soul rather then a human being, given how pale and silent he was.

Chiaki finally did locate said person and as he stood in front of her, she released the breath that she had been holding while walking through the mist, “You know, it’s rather hard to make your way around in this place.” She held up the scroll, one that was given to her by the taskmaster as she had asked to help after the attack on water country and the loss of the Mizukage. He was basically standing in as the mission giver. The mission she had was, as a ninja of high standing, to assess whether or not this young Kaguya was worth anything to the village or not.

Kaguya, Li, it gave his age and his aptitude on the test, which was quite barbaric as it said that he had been forced to kill his friend. She only wished that she was there. She hesitated with that thought, better to have not been there, because she might have found herself on the wrong end of the laws of Kirigakure. So far as she knew, they actually worshipped those that killed people, the strong reigned here, and had she come here in her younger days-. She shook those thoughts off and an eagerness settled about her, and the area as her butterflies broadcast her emotions.

“Kaguya, Li, I suppose?” She looked him up and down, he had stowed his weapon in a knightly fashion, or at least like the knights of the books she had read. She supposed, it being made of what it was, she instantly recognized bone after all, he could probably make another. She still was getting over how new everything was to her, from the culture to the climate.

“I am Kyoukan, Chiaki, at your service and your family's, and I am supposed to assess your abilities and report them back to the mission-master.” She grinned, trying to set him at ease, as well as her own nerves to rest with a bit of kindness, “Pleased to meet you. I um… is there anything that you would like to have me help you train before we begin with the assessment? I am supposed to gauge your…” She looked at the scroll and read it in one breath, monotonically, “Strength, speed, reaction time, handle on chakra, handle on basic jutsu, handle on taijutsu, and overall ‘deadliness’ whatever the hell that means.” She pursed her lips, raising an eyebrow and then put the scroll down to look at the child.

Li stood there, in the Kirigakure form of at attention, his face a blank expression as he waited for the reason why she was here. As she spoke to him one of the things that she had noticed was a hairline scar which travels from the hairline, down the right eye, and disappears into her collar. Her left eye is a dark orange color, and her right eye is a light, almost milky orange color. Li made an assumption that the odds of her being blind in that eye were not good, even that having one less of a working eye was too much of a liability in these kind of cases unless you had various abilities to compensate for that. She has hair the color of dim red coals of a fire.

She was shorter then he was, but not by much and she did appear to be more then eighteen though how much more wasn't clear. Li was after all not experienced with guessing the ages of people, much less women from other villages. As those thoughts went though his head he started to notice another emotion coming over him. Eagerness. Li's eyes moved ever so slightly side to side and began to now notice the butterflies that were now around them. Li had lived here his entire life but he wasn't trained in knowing in those butterflies were from this area or not but there did appear to be more of them then there should be. That was something that Li noted in his mind, it wasn't something instantly that gave him worry but it did seem slightly out of place. Though that didn't really matter at this point because apparently this women was going to give him some kind of assessment, which means that he would get a grade at the end of this.

Li thought back to the last times he was getting graded on something in the Kaguya, and normally if you didn't get a good enough 'score' you got beaten until you did it correctly but this women Kyoukan, Chiaki was clearly not like that. The fact that she was confused by some of the words being used by this assessment told him that while she was an ally of his village, she didn't yet understand how it worked and what it mean to grow up here. Atleast that was what Li got from the comment, maybe it was all a lie to put him off guard. None of that mattered at this point as he said in a voice that sounded like a mix between a breeze and what most would imagine a spirit moaning in the distance might sound like "I am heavily specialized in taijustu, I have very little experience with ninjustu outside of what was required to pass the academy and I have nothing more then academic knowledge of genjustu. If you would like, please give me the assessment and then you can decide what I need to work on sensei. "

"Well, I think that we should probably start with a bit of basic training then, since you say that your skills are basic." She stretched her arms from side to side and then wove some hand seals, "Let's start by having you try to break this armor." I won't fight back, I just want you to see if you can break it, by any means necessary."

An explosion of chakra raced around her, sealing her in a set of armor, She tapped it twice, it rang out in a hollow note through the mist, "I'll just let you try some things to show me how deadly you are. And because I enjoy living, I'm going to keep this armor going until you either break it, or yield. Deal?"

It was a bit less harsh training than she had given that Fukusha in iwagakure, but she knew that given these parameters, she might actually be putting her life in danger, even if this was a genin.

The Genin stood there and listened for a moment, and was given a mission. Break a piece of armor and the test would be a success. Then a set of silver liquid spread over the user and the contest had begun. The first thing Li did was jump back several feet, just in case this armor had any other effects that he wasn't aware of yet. He was being very cautious, and given that he was from the village hidden in the mist, it makes sense. The first thing that Li began to do was throwing three kunai directly into the armor. This was to test to see if the armor did anything when it was hit, because one of the things he could imagine being said is that " They will not fight back, but that doesn't mean the armor will not" kind of situation. The first one was aimed towards her chest, one towards her right arm and the other towards her right calf, each was aimed around a spot that would have ended the fight if this was against a normal human being. The three kunai easily bounced off the armor, not even sticking in and without even so much as leaving a scratch on the armor.

Well that gave Li an idea of what he was dealing with, it did not appear that the armor responded to damage automatically at least. That gave Li enough confidence to walk over to the women in the armor and then did something surprising. He placed his palm on the chest armor of the women, not realizing what he was doing, as he began to tap around the armor, including on various joints such as the arm pits, the pelvis, the elbows and the neck. The armor did seem to be all encompassing, which to be fair, was what he expected. If her armor was so easily to bypass then she might as well use normal armor and save her charka, and he then moved around towards the back and began to do something very similar to in the front. He assumed that the women could not really feel much through this armor, and he made that assumption as he pulled out an explosive tag out of his back trying to be a sly about it as possible and placing it on the square of her back. This would be a normally very hard place for a person to reach, but if she wasn't going to fight back then she shouldn't move to try and remove it

Walking back over to the front of his opponent now, he seemed to have come up with a plan. Li's hands began to be encased in bone, most likely to protect his skin rather then the bones of his hand as he began his attack. He began with a series of six punches directly into the chest of Chiaki, these punches were at full strength and were enough to completely dust the armor gloves that Li had just created. The final punch ended with Li's right hand, and was followed by a back kick straight down the line into Chiaki's solar plexus, on the bottom was a bone spike, about six inches in length and pointed at the end, this would hopefully focus the energy of the kick which given that it was holding a large majority of Li's force into it slammed into the armor. To both Li's surprise and not surprise, she was an insanely powerful Jonin so if his kick could break this armor then well she most likely needs to work on that more but what did surprise Li was the fact that his heel spike simply dusted after a single kick to her armored chest, leaving his heel against it. Hmmmmm well that didn't quite work out how he had planned, he had assumed that something would have happened to the armor but it seemed just as fine as it always was.

Li continued on this path for a several minutes, attempting various combinations of basic Taijustu moves including a jumping axe kick but nothing he did seemed to effect his opponent, but that wasn't about to stop him from continuing. Panting heavily at this point, Li hadn't made much progress, or at least he hadn't felt like he had. He had no idea if this armor had layers or if it was just that much stronger then he was, maybe even both. Either way, Li stood up and with a swing of his arm, a sword was now in his hand from the bones in his arm. Li began to make a series of thrusts and slashes at the armor, though they were getting slower and weaker, but he had the benefit of having a sword that when he eventually shattered it into a million pieces he just created another one.

Li eventually decided to do the final part of his plan to hopefully destroy the armor, after minutes of beating this person's armor. Li jumped back to about ten feet away from his opponent before reaching into his long sleeves of his shirt, now dirty from all the sweat from Li and the dirt and began to pull out a long object. This was a pike, nearly ten feet in total length and placed it quickly placed the butt into the ground, the point at her stomach, before making a sign. The Snake Sign. The Explosive tag that had, hopefully, been left on Chiaki's back went off in a violent explosion. While Li wasn't sure how heavy Chiaki was, and how much weight the armor added to her frame, but it most likely was still enough for the blast to push her forward, directly into the end of Li's pike with the bottom against the ground. Without too much surpise, the pike did shatter as it bent under the force of the explosion given that this was the first time he had ever tried to do something like this. He was barely able to make swords that could stand up to his strength, let alone one from an explosive tag but none the less he had tried the best he could think of.

His first thought during this challenge was to aim for the eye slots of the armor, as they were clearly seen and were an easy target. The issue with that is that if Li did manage to kill a Jonin, for one, that Jonin was from an allied village which would not make the Village Hidden in the Mist look good. Second Li would lose out on a training partner in the future and the most important part. It was unsporting. This wasn't a real fight, otherwise it would be no holds barred kinda match but given that this Jonin is willing to help Li, he wasn't about to try to kill her simply to win. She had more value to the village alive then dead anyway, even if she did die to Li, she was still a Jonin.

Shigeko had ventured forth again out of her comfort zone, wandering toward some more trivial training grounds in the shinobi district. She had spent very little time in this ring of the village, despite it housing the majority of Kirigakure’s forces. Something like 70% of the villages shinobi were from this caste, but as a noble and a member of the prestigious Jouchaku clan she had always viewed them as beneath her. But she supposed it was her best chance of finding sparring partners and weaker Genin to practice her techniques on.

However, as she approached the outdoor training grounds, she found herself surprised to see a Kaguya, made obvious by his white hair and obvious proclivity toward Taijutsu. As was habit for her she formed a few hand seals, sending out a pulse of her chakra as she searched for signs of blood. It was the surest way she found of determining clones from originals as well as preparing herself against potential ambushes. She smirked, thinking herself clever when she noticed that the armor clas woman didn’t have a heartbeat. ‘A clone or construct then’ she surmised, shaking her head at the Kaguya before attempting to locate the ‘real’ version of the woman, to no avail. Evidently, she was a way’s away, but that didn’t matter too much. She still didn’t even know who this stranger was.

As she approached a bit closer, she found that she recognized Lii from the academy. He had seemed an adult from a distance and she was surprised at how much the boy had grown in the few years since she had seen him last. “Oh, is that you Lii?” the blue-haired girl called out from about 20 meters away. The two of them were never particularly close, more akin to rival factions if anything as she tended to stick closely to other Jouchaku, Aisu and Hirohito and Shiimu members and loyalists. Lii was considered a bit of a dangerous person to associate with, having betrayed the Kawazaiwa for the Karagata family. All other Kaguya were expected to kill him on sight for his treachery and Shigeko didn’t want to get caught in that crossfire and she certainly didn’t want to get on the bad side of the Karagata family either. Surely their renowned strength and brutality was the only reason Lii was still alive.

The thirteen-year-old young woman, tilted her head and smiled softly. “I hope you don’t mind if I join in Who is your friend here?” she inquired as she formed seals. In kirigakure politeness was nothing but a façade. The truth was she was going to test her strength against him regardless of what he thought, though for now at least the intent wasn’t lethal. Shigeko wondered if he would charge after her or dismiss her presence and continuing pressing his attack against the woman in chain mail. She had never seen a Kirigakure shinobi wear a suit of metal armor before and something about it made her uneasy. But nonetheless it seemed that her clan’s techniques would be perfect against such a defense, “Let’s see if there’s anything real under there” she remarked to herself as she bellowed forth a jet of steam that would quickly expand and surround both targets. Shigeko would then immediately circle the perimeter of the steam, moving at 7 speed until she made her way to the opposite side from when last her opponents would have seen her.

The steam wouldn’t seem too bad at first, appearing nearly indistinguishable from mist ninjutsu at first as it spread out with 5 Speed, but if it surrounded them Lii would feel the scalding heat of the 25 Strength Steam. And if Chiaki remained within the area long enough then even she would begin to feel the heat conduct through her armor, cooking her from the inside out. Aside from the graduation exam, it had been a while since Shigeko had practiced combat. Her mother had managed to keep her out of the war, deeming her not yet ready and so she had practiced mostly on her fundamentals and chakra control after becoming a Genin. But now she could push herself to her limit and see just how far her chakra reserves would last in a real sparring session.

Chiaki grinned and chuckled as he threw the Kunai at her armor and flexed a little beneath it, the interwoven links of the armor screeched quietly against one another. She wondered whether or not he would be attempting to do anything else, since the kunai didn’t do much to it.

As the child came up and started to inspect her she sighed, a little disappointed that he had to inspect her in order to try to break the armor, but she understood the sentiment. When she was his age, she studied medicine with the same attention to detail, and as his hands tapped on her armor, she chuckled lightly. He was at least thorough. Slapping her back lightly, she was sure that he had placed something there, but wasn’t perturbed, the armor would withstand all but the largest detonations, or jutsu, and so she waited as he circled around her, prodding her and looking for weaknesses in the armor.

“Mmm?” She intoned as he started his attack, the blows raining on her armor, leaving a hollow ringing noise that permeated the area. It was almost cute that he was so meticulous in his assaults. She had given him a puzzle, more than anything as the task at hand. It was interesting to see how he would solve it.

The blows rained down as the slashes from his sword got weaker and weaker and she could feel that the first layer of her armor was just about worn out. She was actually impressed by this and opened her mouth to say as much when he placed the pike in the ground and detonated the paper bomb on her back.

Lacking the training, she struggled to stay upright, much less keep the blow from pushing her forward and she found that the first layer of the armor sloughed off, the chain links that bound it together falling off in tiny fragments, just as small as a new-fallen snow, though that snow was made of Megallium.

“So you can make weapons from the bones in your body. Quite impressive.” She formed some hand seals and made a spear in one hand, and a sword in the other, both made out of a black earthen substance, as hard as her armor was.

“Two more layers to go. You can use these if it helps with your energy levels. So far I would rate your deadliness as… a 2 on a scale of one to ten, just by the way.” She grinned, holding out the weapons to see what he did with them, “I won’t fight back, but I will defend my softer areas with the armor, which is actually advantageous to you since the armor will break faster. So far though, it’s just been you hitting a training dummy.” She tapped her chin, “I saw you looking at my eyes earlier and I’ll tell you what,” Chiaki’s eyes glowed red for a split second, showing the activation of her perception Jikukan jutsu, “If you can hit me in a place where I don’t have armor, I’ll make you a sword out of your bone when you get older. My treat.”

She was generous to a fault, and knew it, but it was better for him to know that there was some incentive for hitting his opponent where the armor was weakest, or even where it did not’ cover, including her face.

As she was giving him this advice there was a voice that came from the mist and Chiaki peered around to see who it was. Unfortunately for her, she still couldn’t see through the mist, so she was only greeted by a disembodied voice for all she knew. She peered around and looked at the Kaguya boy for some sort of explanation.

She looked to her butterflies who cast a jutsu, glowing a brilliant white for a moment as they channeled their chakra. The area permeated with their pheromones, and they latched onto the distinct pheromonal difference of the girl with the steam. ‘Danger’ they cried as the steam burnt them and they retreated from it. Chiaki still couldn’t see it however, and waited for whatever the technique was to reach her. She was still blinded by the mist that surrounded Kirigakure.

Weaving some hand signs she stomped onto the ground, newly created metal boots latching onto the ground, as she searched for the new girl, by the sound of it, that wanted to spar with the Kaguya. "Who's there?" She called out to the mist, peering around her. She would have to think fast of a way to see this girl.

Li stood there panting, he did just spend several minutes attempting to basically break a brick wall but making honestly very little progress over all. He had barely gotten past the first layer and that was with doing every trick he could think of at the time. She then told him she was both impressed and considered his deadliness at a rating of 2. So much for being impressed, Li thought to himself. Well either way none of that really mattered as she created two weapons in her hands, a sword and a spear both similar to the ones that Li had just made. Li reached out and took the sword, even though she wasn't from Kirigakure, the reputation of the village was most likely enough to tell her that what she was asking for was might get her killed. More so handing Li a weapon that was capable of not snapping against her armor instantly.

At which point a new person had entered the arena and Li instantly turned from a training class to a possible life and death fight as he heard someone call his name. His mind instantly got ready to enter a fight where he would kill. His eyes started to scan the area, looking for his target in question and eventually he managed to locate a person in the distance. Li didn't really remember her name, though Li never remembered anyone. His life with other children was never expecting them to be around long enough to matter or shunning him for what he had done in the past. Either way, Li was still in a fight now for his life possibly and this time he had a sword made by someone much stronger then his bones were. This was an advantage for him, though not by much. He did notice she move her hands to make a sign for a justu, but nothing instantly came out. If this was a genjustu of some kind, then Li wasn't aware of it and would assume that it wouldn't affect the Jonin next to her. Even though she couldn't see apparently.

Li watched then as the girl took a deep breath and blew out a massive amount of what appeared to be steam. The only reason why Li knew it was Steam was because a normal mist ninjustu didn't come from your mouth like that, atleast not any that he was aware of. Either way, Li wasn't about to stick around and find out what that steam did. With a simple call out " Genin, twenty meters front, steam justu incoming." before going jumping directly backwards away from the casted Justu. The opponent might be attempting to flank them, using the steam as cover. While Li didn't know if they would attempt to do it from the left, right or back, going backwards was the much better plan overall as it gave him distance and if his opponent did end up on the left or right side flank he would be able to see them from his location.

Li's eyes were always towards Chiaki because if his opponent was going to flank they most likely weren't fast enough to get past Li without him noticing, atleast not as a fellow genin who can cast this kind of Ninjustu. He jumped back twenty-five meters back as he wasn't quite will to take a chance with this. He had no idea how large this Justu was so it was better to be safe then sorry.

Shigeko smirked as her steam bellowed forth, she was having fun already now that she was let loose around the village again After being cooped up for so long by her overbearing mother, she needed to let off some steam. Quite literally it seemed. However, she frowned as she heard li’s voice warning the woman. How rude, not even so much as a greeting to her. Just who was this woman to him? She wondered. The tall Kaguya boy had recognized her as a Genin at least, so he seemed to have some recollection of her. After all it was foolish to assume rank based off age in a village where so many prodigies achieved Chunin or even higher by the age of 11 or 12.

As the young woman ran to her left around the cloud of steam she heard the woman call out to her. Clever, she was trying to get her to give away her position. But that was not nearly as surprising as the fact that she had remained in the steam and seemed unphased by the scalding heat. Any normal person would suffer 2nd degree burns instantly, though she supposed the armor did seem to cover the majority of her body, but she had noted a few exposed areas and those weakness would typically be enough when it came to Yugeton ninjutsu. No matter, if the woman remained in the steam long enough then it wouldn’t matter what defenses she wore or continued to create for herself. However, it seemed even more likely now that this woman wasn’t actually real. ‘Where are you really?’ she thought to herself, feeling an unsettling nervousness given that she still couldn’t feel any blood aside from her own and Li’s. As she approached the boy, before rounding the last bit of steam and coming into view she formed a set of handseals, creating a defensive layer of blood beneath her skin. She knew it was dangerous to get close to a taijutsu practitioner, so instead of running right at him she would leap out further to her left, wrapping an explosive tag over a kunai before tossing it toward the ground in the roughly 20-meter gap between them. Only then would she respond to Chiaki, never taking her eyes off lii as she watched him closely like a yellow eyes predator seeing if he would attempt to cross the explosive obstacle. “My name is Jouchaku Shigeko, bled to the Shiimu. Genin of Kirigakure. Identify yourself” she retorted back. A person’s name held a lot of weight in Kiri and she would need to know who she was talking to before deciding if she was worthy of respect

Chiaki jumped back, leaving the boots behind with her as they would only slow her down, the warning coming only after the steam had burned her skin, the steam finding its way through the metal woven armor that surrounded her. The jutsu was slow, but it was fast to burn her, and the silicone bubbled beneath it.

“That was a nasty little jutsu that you had there, you sure that was just the start of a spar?” But then again, she had used a nasty little jutsu like that when she was a chuunin against a jounin of the village hidden in the leaf. That seemed like a lifetime ago, that fight. It was exhilarating to not be able to see this little girl that had attacked the both of them.

She turned toward the voice, still not able to see whoever had cast the jutsu. She assumed that she had escaped the jutsu that had been made, but couldn’t be absolutely sure. She was asking who Chiaki was, and it was rude to not introduce herself. Why would she not. “I’m a Kyoukan, just passing through and was given the task to size up some of the new Genin here.” It wasn’t a lie at least. She continued to stare into the mist, wondering what to do about this conundrum. On the one hand, she didn’t really need to attack this girl, she wasn’t much of a threat, probably. On the other, Chiaki was a bit miffed that the training session was interrupted in such a way.

Then again, she might as well assess how deadly the boy was that she was sent to train. It wasn’t a good idea to be blind though.

She wove some hand seals and her sight disappeared, replaced by a second-sight, one that allowed her to see chakra. Unfortunately, it meant that she wasn’t going to be able to see any attacks coming at her from a physical source, such as kunai or a chain. It did, however, lend itself to seeing jutsu and seeing others via their chakra network. The chakra shone blue in her eyes and Chiaki could see the jutsu and the girl, and the boy as clear as day, their weapons, not so much.

If the girl was observant, she could definitely tell that Chiaki was an outsider, from the fact that she had to use a jutsu to locate her opponent rather than just looking through the thick mist that permanently permeated the area.

Silicone • Loss of sense
C-Rank Ninjutsu requires perception.
After performing the correct hand seals the user will choose two senses and completely block them off instantaneously, trading it for a ‘third eye’ sense for Chakra. This allows the user to see the chakra signatures of the people around them by trading one other sense, be that touch, smell, sight, or hearing. This can be both advantageous and disadvantageous, as most people use all of their senses in battle.

Traded Sight and Smell for this.

Li listened carefully as he tried to figure out where his opponent was coming from, though he did luck out and that his move did work well enough and he spotted the other genin coming out from his right side. So she had travelled clockwise in terms of the fog, which as Li tracked her he didn't have any real issues following her movements. She was slow, atleast slow for him and most likely even slower to the jonin, if she was capable of seeing beyond her hand infront of her face it seemed. Li saw her reach into for something on her right thigh and then something on her hip, and wrap something around whatever she pulled out and threw it towards him. Luckily for him, the speed of this throw was slower then he was so he did get a good idea of what it was. A Kunai. Li reached into his back pouch and pulled out his own kunai and threw it on an intercept course to hit Shigeko's kunai. Given the fact that Li's speed was over twice Shigeko's this is a slow moving target to him, and he was only intending to knock it off it's course to prevent it from being used as a barrier to stop him from running straight at her.

Once Li's kunai struck the flying Kunai, the differences in the speed and power thrown were evident as the explosive tag kunai flew off target to the right slightly. Due to the downward angles of everything, the kunai didn't fall far off the targetted path but it was far enough that Li had a much easier shot of going straight towards Shigeko if he choose to go that way. Li stood there for a moment, staring back at the yellows eyes with his blue eyes. Now that Li knew the name, he realized his life wasn't in dangerous atleast not yet. If anything Li was more of a threat to her then she was to him at this moment in time, given that Li had much less to lose from killing her then she did from killing him. Li's life wasn't worth very much in his eyes, while he was sure her life was.

Li pulled out another kunai out of his backpouch, and without taking his eyes off of Shigeko moved them, with a slight head tilt, towards Chiaki, giving her the chance to team up with him. If they were going to have a chance of doing something to this jonin, they needed to work together in some way otherwise working seperately was only going to end in failure, but clearly they needed to be on the same side to do something like that. Li and his female genin 'partner' had a choice to make. Go at this seperately or go at this together as a team and back each other up as required. Either way, Li was down. Li left himself an opening to go and get her if she decided that working together wasn't going to work out.

As Shigeko ran around the left side of the large steam dome, the red-haired woman leaped out from the scalding steam. The girl kept aware of the woman even as her kunai throw was deflected and the tagged kunai now landed closer to the mystery woman than either of the Genin. The trio formed roughly a triangle of about 15-20 meters between each of them with the cloud of steam to Shigeko’s right side, Chiaki staring straight ahead at it and Li standing opposite Shigeko with the steam ahead and to his left side. The position was suddenly quite disadvantageous for the Jouchaku girl, her own steam blocking her in against the woman and li preventing her from advancing further. She only had one safe route, directly back the way she came. Slowly, she began to back away, moving further out from the steam and back away from Chiaki. All the while her yellow eyes darted between the two combatants, suddenly seeming less the aggressor and more a cornered animal. She had clearly miscalculated the situation.

More concerning however, was the information revealed by the red-haired woman. From the way she didn’t look at either Genin directly it seemed as if she couldn’t see well, either blind, purposefully impairing her vision or a foreigner who was not acclimatized to the mist. Ordinarily the last option would be the least likely given Kirigakure’s security measures and the rarity of Iwagakure shinobi visiting. In fact, despite the alliance she had never actually heard of one-stepping foot in Kirigakure before. And with an invasion within the last year by a pair of rogue Kiri S-Ranked shinobi, she knew the village guards would be on high alert. But that name; Kyoukan, she had heard it before when studying enemy clans during her academy years. “That’s impossible. A kumo shinobi, here. It can’t be” she uttered in disbelief, loud enough that hopefully Li would hear her. She caught the Kaguya’s gesture and nodded, uncertainty replaced with determination. She would die before she let an enemy shinobi walk freely in their village and insult them with these mind games. Whatever her reason for being here or her true identity, outsiders were not welcome here. Not while she was around.

The young woman’s chakra surged. Rank didn’t matter now. It was her duty to kill this woman or at least stall her long enough for the Seven Swordsmen to arrive. If they made a big enough scene, she was sure they would come. “You’ve made a mistake coming here” she warned boldly as she formed a half seal and detonated the kunai a few meters from Chiaki’s position. The 15 strength exploding tag would expand nearly instantly, covering a 15-meter radius. Shigeko would leap back and to the left, raising her arms to shield her eyes from the sudden explosion. And then she would form handseals as she moved to flank the woman’s right side, hoping to be able to see where she moved to as the smoke cleared. It was unnerving that she still wasn’t able to sense her, but as soon as she was able to see Chiaki again she would fire off a spike made of blood from the palm of her hand, aiming to impale the woman through the chest. As soon as the first one launched she channeled a second, slightly slowly but more powerful. Already here chakra reserves were being taxed, she had went too big, too fast. But there was no way she could hold anything back now. The woman appeared to be in her 20’s and was likely a Jounin if she had managed to infiltrate the village. Realistically, the Genin had no chance, but the shinobi of Kirigakure were warriors to the core and she would gladly die in service of the village if it helped their defenses even the smallest bit. Make a scene, keep her busy. Put everything on the line. These were the thoughts racing through her head as her chakra surged and she prepared to push herself past her limits in service of Kirigakure.

Chiaki watched as the Kaguya boy nodded at her, watching through eyes that could see the chakra centers of both of them. She blinked twice, shaking her head, not used to this sensation. The moths warned again, ‘danger!’. The explosion left her ears ringing, debris scattering tinkling off of her armor. She was swimming in a world, devoid of colour, of light besides the steam to her right, and the two kiddos.

Then, it registered, the things that the kid had said to her. “She’s a kumo ninja” and “mistake coming here.” Of course she thought that she was a kumo ninja after Chiaki had stated her name. What else had she said? Thoughts swam in her head as she tried to remember, but the kid was already throwing one, no… two senbon at her. How could she see senbon? Oh, that’s right. These were made. She looked over, able to see the weapons she had made for the Kaguya still. Chakra still looked like bluish light to her.

Her butterflies tried, in a desperate attempt while she thought of how to diffuse the situation, to disperse her pheromones throughout the area. Gladness, happiness, that would never work. She shook her head, and the pheromones dispersed.

Maybe she should just have a little bit of fun with this kiddo, see how far she was willing to go for her village, test her limits a bit, see what kind of a mess she was willing to land herself in. The training had changed. Now she was going to show how scary an overwhelming advantage really was. She walked calmly toward the steam using girl, grinning, the senbon hit her armor and shattered, both of them. Chiaki formed a series of hand seals, touched one of her butterflies and it flew at a blinding speed toward the girl, attempting to touch her as soft as a mother’s kiss with the seal that she had given it as a sender.

What would Maido do?

Draw out their potential by goading them. “So, little one, you think that you can best me?” She laughed, throwing her head back in a guffaw that was strained, sounding like one of those villains that one saw on the kabuki stage. She lowered her head, giving a wide, almost demon-like grin, and facial expression. “I was going to silence this little Kaguya, but it seems like my plan has been thwarted.”

Then came the pheromones that she would have used if she were in a real fight. The pheromones of fear.

There, was that enough of a goading for the pint-sized girl? It would have ben enough for Hanako, but then again she always took everything literally. She walked calmly toward the girl, each footfall powerful as she could make it, the metal links of her armor clinking against one another with each footfall. She wove some more hand seals, five seals appeared on each finger-tip. The chakra-forbid seal.

Come at me, little one.” She licked her lips. She was in control of the situation, in complete control of her chakra, and she felt like she was goading them well. Or at least, that the outcome would be favorable. She would scare them a little before revealing her true colors. After all, it was only two genin. If she was going to test the both of them, especially the Kaguya, there was no greater test than to push them both to their extreme limits. The Chakra forbid seal was to make sure that the kiddo didn’t push herself too far. Chiaki could see the tenketsu, and at her current level, since she announced she was a genin, she estimated that she was probably out of chakra.

It was how Chiaki, herself, fought, so she wouldn’t be surprised if it was how this girl fought as well.

C-Rank butterfly pheromone jutsu
The butterflies that Chiaki controls release pheromones that travel at [synch] speed from their bodies, up to 30 meters from their main mass. These pheromones have no physical substance, but travel around corners, in cracks, and fill the available space. If the subject(s) breathe these in, they have a behavioral response to the Primer Pheromone to engage with Chiaki with gladness, impairing their ability to engage in combat. This gladness can be counteracted if a subject has a [willpower] equal to the [synch]-5 used for this technique. This attaches to the first thought that the person has, and validates it however they are able.

This attaches to the first thought that the person has, and validates it however they are able. If they are unable to counteract the terror, they will not attempt to engage Chiaki in a fight, but will respond appropriately depending upon their characteristics.

The moment that Li saw the nod from Shigeko, along with her saying something strange about a Kumogakure ninja. Li knew very little about other clans, and Li knew that Chiaki was from the Iwagakure ninja because that is what he was told before he showed up. Atleast he was pretty sure anyway, but he didn't know anything about a clan or why Shigeko would say that she was a ninja from an enemy village. As Li thought about this he took out several meters of wire from his bag and wrap it around the end of it. He had a plan and would have began enacting it, but then the words " You've made a mistake coming here" rang out in Li's mind and he stopped what he was doing. Did Shigeko think that the person training him was a real life enemy compantent? Then an explosion ripped through the air, deafening Li for a moment as he tried to piece together what was happening around him.

Li followed his fellow genin moving, only to fire off a several justus into Chiaki's chest. Li knew that wouldn't work, not at this point anyway because Li had spent a very long time trying to break even a single layer of that plate. Apparently this genin was also a blood justu user as well. She could be a huge problem later in her life, but right here and now she was as helpless as he was if Chiaki was a real enemy.

That is when things got even more confusing when Chiaki came walking out of the steam, looking like she didn't have a care in the world and began speaking some insane things. Such as, she was going to kill Li and that her plans were thwarted. That made literally no sense! One extra genin against a Jonin wasn't going to change anything, much less thrawt a plan. Also she showed up watching Li and Chiaki training, and it made even LESS sense because Li had called out his fellow Genin's location to her at the start of the spar. Chiaki even said at the start that this was a spar and Li hadn't said anything to make it seem like it wasn't a spar.

Li felt the fear rise up in his body, but he knew it didn't make sense and he pushed it away. His logic of the situation made him know that the jonin wasn't here to hurt him in anyway and it only made him more confused. Then Chiaki made hand seals and created a very scary looking justu with strange symbols on each of her fingers. Li was even more confused now as his brain tried to piece together what the hell was happening. Was the person he was training with really sent to kill him? No that made no sense, if she was, she would have just done it and left by now. But why was she doing this? Was she doing this as a joke of some kind? No, no one would make a joke like this in Kirigakure. That could literally get you killed, right?

Li stood there for several seconds after this, just dumbstruck as he wasn't sure what the hell was going on before he snapped back to realizing that he still had to win this spar. Whatever Chiaki was doing at this point wasn't really relevant but LI still wanted to 'win'. Li continued what he was doing before by pulling out another Kunai and tying it to the other end. He now basically had five meters of wire, and on either end was a kunai tied to it. Li knew that Chiaki couldn't see well right now, but didn't know that Chiaki could only see charka at this moment, which made the next move even more effective.

Li threw both of the kunais at Chiaki, one in front of her face and one behind it by couple of feet [Both 15 Strength and Speed]. Even if Chiaki saw this and followed the path, she would most likely knowing that they would easily miss her. What she couldn't see was the wire between them as it flew through the air, both of them flew past her within a second the wire would make contact with the place Li was aiming for. Her neck. Now this alone would do basically nothing, given the wire wasn't razor sharp or something, but once the Kunai were not able to keep going forward their forward momentum would rotate around a point, trying to lose the rest of their energy and that point happened to be Chiaki's neck. Li threw this hard enough that they would make a return trip around where Li, knowing the length could roughly guess where they would end up on the return trip around.

As the two Kunai spun around, Li reach out and grabbed both of them as quickly as possible before yanking down towards the ground as hard as he possibly could, putting his full body weight into it. This would, for a normal person, maybe even snap their neck due to the force generated, but most likely not with Chiaki, at best this sudden change in her weight might throw her off balance. After all it wasn't like, as far as Li knew, the armor she was wearing would allow her to feel the thin wire on her, it wasn't likely she could see it so Li had assumed that she wouldn't expect several hundred pounds of force to suddenly be placed on her neck jerking her violently towards the ground.

Shigeko panted heavily as her mind reeled. The situation still didn't make sense, how was a Kyoukan inside Kirigakure and why did she say she was here to help them train? Had she misheard the name, was the clan no longer affiliated with Kumogakure. She found herself doubting her knowledge but she had always done well academically. It would be utterly shameful to make such a mistake.

The chainmail armor alone screamed foreigner. Nobody in Kiri dressed in such a way, sea faring shinobi and sailors didn't wear armor like that. Perhaps she was affiliated with Iwagakure but that still didn't explain the clan name that she was sure she had recognized. All she could do was keep fighting and hope for the best. As her blood senbon impacted the upper chest area of the chain mail, Shigeko exhaled in relief. Her plan was working. The blood spikes wouldn't shatter but rather splash across the woman's exposed neck and face and soak through the small gaps in the chain armor. There was more than one way to fight against armor and smashing with brute force was often the least effective. She had counted on her opponent to underestimate her and rely on the durability of the armor to protect her rather than consider the weaknessses that could be exploited. And it seemed to have worked.

The pheremones of gladness surged forth, enhacing her feelings of pride at her plan. And as Chiaki began to approach, Shigeko mustered up nearly the last of her chakra as she formed another brief set of seals. The blood on Chiaki would change shape, forming back into spikes once more and launching themselves point blank into her from atop her own skin. At 10 speed and 20 Strength two would angle upward to attempt to pierce her skull, one would fire straight through her neck and two would angle down into her chest, targeting where her heart and lung should be. It was the type of attack that could kill even a Jounin when set up properly like this. Though it was still unsettling that Chiaki seemed to not have any blood of her own.

Assuming that Chiaki did in fact survive the blood needles, her butterflies pheremones of fear and the chakra forbid seal at her fingertips would have time to be completed. So focused on finishing her opponent Shigeko hadn't even noticed the lightning fast approach of the butterfly that had sealed off her ability to speak. "Die" she attempted to utter as her yellow eyes watched her jutsu fire into Chiaki's body. But no words would come out and even as Li's well timed kunai attempted to grapple Chiaki to the ground, Shigeko felt a sudden overwhelming sense of fear.

The red-haired Jounin wasn't dead. It didn't seem possible but that is what her instincts screamed at her. Scrambling backward the young woman gasped for breath, her body shook from exhaustion and fear and all her noble mannerisms abandoned her as she stumbled away, doing everything she could to will her body to flee. She still had a layer of protective armor under her skin, a persistant glow of chakra from Chiaki's view point but beneath that layer her reserves were essentially depleted only enough to preserve life and perhaps a desperate last ditch E-rank jutsu or two.

After performing the needed hand seals, the user will focus their chakra on a patch of their blood, at least a baseball in circumference, within 25m of their body. From the patch of blood 5 senbon will form, and fire in whatever direction they choose, at [Control] speed, with [Control] strength. This is most commonly used on blood they've gotten onto the enemy, firing directly into their skin.

Well, Chiaki had asked for it. She had asked for it and she had received it. The blood exploded, sending one of her eyes across the field, the one that looked ruined, the other locked her jaw in place, jutting out from her chest and pushed its way out from where her brainstem would have been. The third senbon, jutting out of her neck, had hit where her carotid artery was and the fourth and fifth hit her faux lung and pushed her core to the side as it hit where her heart should be. The vibrated in her chest, and she felt, for the first time since becoming an elemental body, real pain. Not the synthetic pain she had turned toward when she had adopted this body, but actual pain.

Play time was over.

The metal armor sloughed off and two butterflies hit the genin, Li, that was pulling her back with enough strength to shatter most people’s bones. Li had won this spar, but Chiaki had a boiling anger that arose, and arose toward this Genin that had actually tried to kill her. She had thought that she had impenetrable armor. She had thought that the attack wasn’t going to pierce her chain mail. Well, she had been dead, if she were alive like the girl, wrong.

Anger seeped out of Chiaki, before she shook her head. Wasn’t it her that had told them to fight with all they had, to try to kill her? She shook it once more and channeled chakra into both hands, letting the seal die off, she cast two more jutsu, which would effectively end the sparring session before she was able to talk with the both of them. One was a chakra forbid seal that she had been working on from afar, and the other was a paralysis one for keeping the steam child from running away.

Overkill? Yes. But Chiaki also wasn’t accustomed to Kirigakure no Sato. The way that she was looking at the world spoke of that. She pulled the wire around her neck, severing her own head, before catching it in her hand, looking at the girl. She pulled the senbon out of her neck, and out of the back of her head before reattaching it with another jutsu, holding it in place to do so, “Li, would you be so kind as to find my eye?”

"Oh, and you passed, I'll let you know the grades when I am done with the girl over here." She indicated, with her recently reattached head toward the girl.

She started to walk toward the girl, who she hoped had been hit by both butterflies. If she had, Chiaki would lean down to undo the mute seal.

"You fought well out there, but don't use too much chakra." She gave a bright smile to the young Kunoichi and let her pheromones relax, letting people feel what they needed to after this little spar, "If I were to actually attack Kirigakure, you'd need enough to get away and warn everyone."

In her remaining good eye, she showed concern, concern that the genin had been hurt, and concern that the girl had used too much chakra. Best to let the seal stay there until she regained enough to be a threat again. Chiaki's tongue played with the newly acquired hole in her head, and let the silicone form back together slowly.

Chiaki gets pulled over by Li's strength (which is greater than hers at this point. (25?)

Butterflies hit Li at 50 speed, 30 strength in the chest, just enough to get him to leave off.

Li stood there attempting to pull down Chiaki to the floor, figuring that this was apart of the training and all of that went away when the first blood senbon came through her eye. Li's eyes went wide as he dropped the wire and began to stand up, turning towards the noble and the only words that came out of his mouth was " What the fuu" at which point the butterfly hit him at such a speed and power that Li was knocked off his feet, he felt the bones in his chest flex and nearly give way. Li landed a moment later on his back, coughing and trying to get his air back into his lungs. What the hell had just happened? Everything happened so quickly and then everything went wrong even more quickly. It took a literal second for the fight to be over, the moment Chiaki decided that this fight was over it was. End of Story.

Li had a feeling that if she felt like it she could have had that butterfly rip through his skull and kill him instantly, then he felt something else as he quickly turned over and onto all fours and threw up his breakfast and lunch. This is what true fear was, knowing that at any moment the person who was possibly the nicest person to you moments ago had the ability to kill you without so much as a second thought. That fear alone caused Li's to race at speeds never before, he was used to the fight or flight instinct and he was trained to do fight but against this women, someone who should be dead but is standing and still capable of fighting, it was nothing but flight.

Li didn't run though, his training told him that running would just lead you to dying tired against an opponent like this. Li then heard his name called and a request made for him, and after a moment Li nodded quietly, wiping the vomit off his mouth as he brushed himself off before going and looking around for the eye in question. Li's body didn't feel any of the pain he was experiencing due to the sheer amount of shock and adrenaline running through him at this moment, but he knew that wouldn't last much longer not with the fight over and his body quickly falling back into training.

Li eventually located this eye, and picked it up without much issue. It did feel.. different then Li imagined an eye would feel like, it felt too solid in some ways but Li wasn't a medical ninja so how was he to really know. " Found it. " Li turned towards Chiaki and underhand threw it to her, he assumed that she would turn towards him and easily catch the eye in this case.

Li then sat down, put his knees to his chest and hugged them against himself as he stared at Shigeko. This noble, this higher then thou, care only about bloodline, stupid noble nearly got him killed. For nothing. Literally nothing. If she had stopped to think for two and a half seconds, she wouldn't have attempted to kill a Jonin from another village. Even if she did kill the jonin, this alone would cause a problem. If she wasn't an enemy ninja, such was the most likely case in this, you literally killed an allies ninja. This could start another war that Kirikagure could not afford to have right now. What would we tell our ally, " Hey sorry about the diplomatic envoy we sent, one of our genins fucking killed her, our bad. "

If Li's eyes could burn, Shigeko would be on fire right now with how hard Li was staring at her. Li had been beaten within an inch of his life, for a variety of reasons but at least there was logic to those reasons. Li signed up with the wrong family, breaking the rules and possibly causing problems in the village. Li was a member of the Kaguya and this is a training to make you stronger. All of those things he could accept, and if he died from them, he would pass onto the next world with his only regret being that he wished he was stronger. This was stupidity and arrogance at it's finest that nearly cost two genins, the future of the village to nearly lose their lives. If this was someone else, they both would already be dead and gone. Li had never felt anger towards people, anger wasn't an emotion that Li wanted to have in his life. He saw what anger did to others, it clouded their mind and caused them to make stupid mistakes, act not in their best interest. At this moment, Li's anger towards Shigeko burned like a forest ablaze, burning inside of him in all directions and consuming his every thought as his arms began to shake in fury, barely able to hold it in.

But Li from the outside most likely looked like a child who was simply panicked and scared. Li simply sat there silently as he watched and listen to what was going to happen next.

The blue-haired girl grasped another kunai and wrapped an exploding tag around it, holding it close to her chest. She was prepared to die rather than be taken hostage, or perhaps catch her pursuer off guard when it seemed she was beaten and helpless. After all, detonating a tag took only a miniscule amount of chakra, she could do that much at least. And maybe set up a substitution and make a mad dash to get help. Her yellow eyes frantically searched for something large enough to perform a kawarimi with, but out in this open field there weren’t any apparent options. All she could do was run toward some trees that were still about 100 meters away. If her opponent couldn’t see her then maybe she had a chance. She still had her blood armor too, it was enough that she might be able to fake taking a critical wound. Panting heavily, her well kept hair falling loose her mind and body scrambled with everything she had to get away and plan out her escape.

But then suddenly she was flung head over heels, tumbling face first into the damp, grassy ground as two tiny butterflies pummeled into her back. She had no idea what hit her and honestly she had barely even noticed the tiny butterflies glimmering throughout the mist throughout the fight. They moved so fast and were so small that they seemed more like tricks of the faint sunlight refracting through the mist rather than actual creatures. Her nose bloodied from the fall and a mouthful of mud, she attempted to get to her feet when she realized suddenly that she couldn’t move. But she could surely at least detonate the tag if the woman came closer to finish her off. Her only hope now was to at least provide enough of a distraction for Li to get away.

And when she heard the woman’s steps get closer and saw her leaning down out of the corner of her eye she attempted to channel chakra into the tag clutched to her chest. But to no avail, ‘Damn it’ she screamed within her mind, straining her body over and over as she attempted to force out just a tiny bit of chakra. And then suddenly her voice worked again and her strained whimpers of fear and desperation escape her throat. “Fuck you…Just die” she pleaded as she began to cry and whimper, feeling completely helpless and defeated now. But then the words sank in, if she were to actually attack Kirigakure? Was this just some kind of test then, or a joke. Who the hell was this woman? Finding herself only able to speak and breathe she panted into the mud and finally stopped trying to force out the last of her chakra. She hadn’t even realized that her under armor had dissipated, as indicated by the fact that she had bloodied her nose upon the fall. If her chakra hadn’t been sealed she would have killed herself just trying to slow Chiaki down. Exhaling slowly she let herself relax somewhat, accepting that her fate was not her own to decide. “Who are you really. What are you?” she inquired weakly, her eyelids hazy as she struggled to even keep conscious. The adrenaline was starting to wear off already and her exhaustion suddenly crept up on her.

Chiaki sighed, wove some hand seals and sent a clone over to check on Li. She knew that she was going to not have much chakra if she undid her seals, so it was best to just wait it out. The more chakra she had the more chakra the kid would have. She wasn’t going to just let her go either.

Approaching Shigeko, she turned the girl over with one of her feet before taking a squatting, kneeling position beside her, pulling the hair out of the genin’s face, giving her a flat, bored, and motherly look, “And what would your parents say if they saw you here, nose bloodied, face covered in dirt?” She shook her head in mock pity, which is about all she could muster toward this girl that had tried to kill her in cold blood, or rather with hot blood, before weaving a blindingly fast set of hand seals and touched the girl's forehead, a tether between the two manifested and then the tether glowed a bright red, not only mending the broken cartilage that was misshapen, but ridding the girl’s features of the blood.

Her eyes stopped glowing as she returned to her normal sight, blinking a couple of times and readjusting, “The mist around here is rather bothersome, don’t you think?” She continued to make small-talk as she ran her hands over the other minor cuts that the smaller girl had received.

“I’m Kyoukan, Chiaki. I am from the village hidden in the clouds, originally.” She looked at the girl, seeing if her name had reached this place before continuing, “I’m on a visit here with Shinjiro one of the… Swordsmen?” She shrugged, “He has a lot of titles, and I can’t really remember them all, but I assume that he’s somewhat of a big deal here.” Continuing on, the teal light faded and she looked at Shigeko in the eyes, taking the explosive tag away from her limp hand and tossing it aside, it exploded, harmlessly a good distance away with the toss, creating a rather loud shockwave.

“I am also a disciple of the blood-witch.” She smiled, while her eyes held the softness of her priestess background, her smile was hard as the tempered steel that Maido tried to make her, she was still tense, still on alert for anyone else that wanted in on this.

--

As Chiaki knelt down by the motionless girl, rolling her over, the clone walked up to Li, running a hand through her hair and smiled at him, a relaxed, easy smile, “Well, that was unexpected. I didn’t expect a spar to get that far out of hand.” She put a finger to her lips in thought and nodded to herself, “Though I suppose I did really rather deserve it, since I had told her that I was a Kyoukan and made a rather large fool of myself, using that pheromone jutsu…” She looked upward, taking in the Kaguya kid.

“I promised you a meal, while I deal with her over there, why don’t we talk about where you want to eat. I would rather get cleaned up and go out somewhere nicer, but I will probably need a map.” She considered for a second what she was saying and then shook her head, “Nevermind, not a map just… just take this pebble, and I’ll find you.” She took out a small pebble, it was shaped like a crescent moon from the broken bit, and it had been rather crudely painted a dark blue color.

“It’s called an anchor and it’ll let me, basically be wherever you are. Don’t know how better to explain it than that.” The clone showed the boy that she had a similar one to his, if he inspected it closer, he would find that it was an exact duplicate, down to the drip in the paint on the lower crescent that had dried when Chiaki was making anchors to use.

The clone looked up at the sky and sighed, “Oh boy, what a big mess. Sorry that you had to get tangled up in that, I… was too confident I suppose.” She chuckled, trying to make light of the attempted assassination.

Li sat there, as silent as the grave as Chiaki sent over a clone to go talk to him and figure out what is going on with him. As he listened the white hot anger he was still feeling had started to cool, though the anger did not go away at all. It simply got cold and rational anger. She was a liability and Li hoped that he never had to see or deal with her again. Li had completely ignored the first part of what Chiaki had said to him as he was so distracted with his own thoughts and getting his emotions under control, and when he finally came to he look at Chiaki holding a pebble out to him with a very odd moon on it.

Li reached up and took the pebble and put it into his pocket before standing up and he began gathering his tools to clean up. He did only have a kunai and some wire left but he pulled those towards himself and he walked off the training ground, wrapping the wire back up in a spool and putting the kunai back in it's place. Li did not appear to want to speak to anyone, and most likely they just assumed that it was due to what had happened and that he was sad or some other normal emotion from seeing a women nearly die but then not. Li was quiet because he needed to be so that none of the anger slipped out of his voice. No one needed to know what Li was feeling inside if he could help it, there was nothing to gain from showing his emotions at this moment in time. The fellow Genin was going to get a talking to of some kind, Li was sure, and hopefully whatever team she became apart of in the future, she doesn't get too many of them killed.

Li had no interest in answering any questions or comments that might have come out of the girl or Chiaki at this moment in time, so even if they did come they would simply get the silence of a corpse back.
