It was because she spent every free night in the Bloodriver bar that the wait staff all knew her by name. That, or it was because of her purple skin, and elf-like ears. Either way, Kaori had not even have to order what she wanted when she sat down, her favorite waitress had simply brought it to her with a bright smile. "If I don't know better Aisu, I'd say you're coming here just for me." The young woman's tone was bright, cheerful, and very friendly, however, it still caused many to look at her with disbelief. The girl had spoken with Kaori as if they were equals, rather than as though Kaori were her better, which technically she was. Kaori didn't care though, because the girl had been right. She was there only for the waitress.

Kaori's face had turned a darker shade of purple as she smiled at the waitress. "Well, I mean, you are the only thing worth looking at in this dreadful place. But, I must say, this steak is a work of art, so i guess you could say I was here for it too." Kaori had winked at the young girl before she went to serve other guests, and tore into her dinner.

Sympathy for the devil (ask first please)

Aimi stood outside of the Bloodriver Bar with his hands on his hips, staring up at the sign as he considered going inside. His eyes were tired, dark and bagged. He wasn't sure when the last time he'd slept had been, but it was more than 24 hour prior. Most of that time had been spent with Yuri. Since the mansion... General Shin... he hadn't had a moment to himself to relax. He wanted to sleep but he was too high strung to go and lay down. Even standing there he could feel the exhaustion in his muscles, but he just couldn't bring himself to give in to his slothful temptation and go home to sleep. Not with Yuri in the hospital. He was going to at least try to play the part of a vigilante sentinel for her since her being in intensive care was his fault in the first place. Yet he knew that if he didn't wind down some soon, he was going to snap and someone was going to get hurt.

Tonight seemed like a good night for a drink.

The exhausted jounin walked into the Bloodriver Bar's front door and stood there for a moment, absorbing the warmth of the room and shaking off the chill of the world outside. It occurred to him briefly that this was his first time in this bar. The thought passed from his mind as he silently strode over towards the bar. He ignored the other patrons for the most part, following his tunnel vision towards the first available seat that he saw. Sitting down on the stool and placing his arms on the bar top, he waited for someone to actually come and serve him rather than speaking up. It took a few minutes, but a bar tender did come his way, saying, "You look like shit, pal. Need something?"

Aimi looked up at this man and let out a sigh, only half regretting the choice he was about to make. "Get me something strong... but not too strong. And make sure it actually tastes good." With that he lowered his head again and brought the heel of his hand up to his forehead, gently beating himself again and again while he waited. Every beat of his heel was an image from the mission that he'd just returned from. A choice he could have made differently, an outcome that could have been avoided. 'Be gone. Be gone. Be gone,' he said to each one in turn, dismissing them to be revisited another time when he felt that he could actually forgive himself, the first step in recovery from a follied mission. He continued to literally and figuratively beat himself up until he heard a name - Aisu.

His eyes snapped open and his mind immediately flashed to Haruna. A loud click like a bell chimed in his mind as a connection was made. Weeks ago, before the Water Festival, Yuri had come to him and spoken about Haruna, who had been brought back to the village in a critically wounded state after a botched mission and whom Yuri had watched over. How ironic, he thought, that he was now in Yuri's place and Yuri in Haruna's. He wondered if, perhaps, it wasn't Haruna there who's name had been called? He couldn't remember her age, he felt it was somewhere between fourteen and eighteen though. Somehow he doubted that this bar would worry about the patron's age, especially if they were shinobi. Lifting his head up, he looked around the bar, trying to spot anyone who could possibly be of Aisu origin, wondering if, perhaps, Haruna was here and he could talk to her.

Kazuki had been at the bar for about half an hour already herself, having been in the mood for a drink, and was currently flirting with the same watress that had just served Kaori, or at least she was trying to flirt, the woman seeming to be entirely immune to her advances, simply smiling and chuckling.

It was only a few minutes before the woman walked away to serve other customers and she turned towards her sake with a hmph, downing her glass in a near instant. Maybe I should have dressed up. she thought to herself, grinning as she thought of a dress that she had bought just the other day precisely for occasions such as this. Though in hindsight, it was probably her own fault that her advances seemed to have no effect at all, as between her and one other, an Aisu whom her frequent visits had taught her was named Kaori, the woman seemed to get that sort of attention nearly every day. It would have been nice to at least get a blush or something though.

She was suddenly distracted from her thoughts as she heard the door open, and in walked a Yamai, one whom seemed to be fairly depressed. She couldn't help but be a bit worried, but as much as she wanted to approach him and find out what was wrong, she also knew how to tell when to just leave a situation alone, so for now she would just simply wait and watch to see what happened.

He seemed to be looking for someone though.. and she couldn't help but wonder, what would he do if he found the person he was looking for. She wasn't sure but in her eyes, it was even more of a reason to keep an eye on the situation.

The steak was, as it always was, perfect. However, Kaori soon realized that there was no steak sauce on her table, and so she walked up to the bar to grab a bottle rather than waiting for the waitress to make her rounds. On her way up to the bar she noticed two things, or rather, two people, seemed to be staring out into the crowd. One of them was obviously a Yamai, while the other seemed to be a Jouchaku, though Kaori was not entirely sure. When she reached the bar, having grabbed what she needed, she turned to the Yamai with a large smile. "Who yah lokin for? If you don't mind me askin. I know just about everyone who comes in here as regulars..." Her tone was bright, but she suddenly got really awkward when she realized that the man was probably her superior. He had that air of power to him, of authority.

"I hope I did not offend with my familiarity sir." Her tone had shifted to one without emotion, only a cool, collected, even tone that meant business. Kaori waited awkwardly for the man to respond, while also watching the redhead out the side of her eye. It seemed that she liked the waitress too. The idea of a competition for the girl intrigued her. "I wonder who will catch her eye first."

'Purple. This woman is purple,' thought Aimi rather bluntly as he looked up. His attention had been drawn towards this woman who approached him. He looked up at her with his tired eyes and just stared silently for a few seconds, half processing what he was seeing and half deciding how to answer. Her tone quickly changed as he gazed upon her, perhaps thinking that he was of a higher rank than she was? It was entirely possible. He didn't know who she was, and only a ninja could get away with having purple skin in this village. While he stared silently, the bar tender who had approached him before returned with his drink.

"Here you go. One White Shinobi," the bar tender said, setting the small cup down in front of Aimi before turning and tending to his own business. Aimi ignored the cup for the moment, thinking to himself, his thoughts sluggish and mired by fatigue; 'Just... why purple?' After another pair of awkward, silent seconds, he turned his gaze towards the glass and moved his arm to pick it up, the muscles in his left forearm feeling heavy and strained, his body still not fully recovered from the ordeal he'd gone through hours before. "I was looking for an Aisu by the name of Haruna. Do you know her? Are you her?" he asked, returning his tired gaze towards the purple woman and bringing the cup up to his mouth to sip. The alcohol burned in his throat but he wasn't responsive enough to grimace. As the drink slithered down his throat, he was able to appreciate the warm, creamy taste on his tongue. It wasn't a bad drink by any means.

As Kaori moved to approach the Yamai, Kazuki silently crossed her legs and for the time being simply watched the situation unfold, ordering another drink in the meantime and taking careful notes of the situation as she sipped away at it. So far so good, there didn't seem to be any hostility, at least not openly worn, though she could sense that the air between them seemed to be awkward at best. It seemed more like they were staring each other down, each taking careful note of the other, instead of actually interacting, though in a way she herself was being guilty of the same thing at the moment.

By the time she finished her second drink she realized that for now at least the situation was peaceful, and at the same time found herself growing bored. Taking a quick look around she noticed that the waitresses all seemed to be busy and currently there was a lack of beautiful women amongst the patrons, so with a sigh she got up from her seat and decided to join the pair. It would definitely be more fun than sitting around by herself, and even more than that she didn't know how much longer she could bear to simply watch as the Yamai seemed to simply drink his sorrows away, some part of her hoping that this would lead to perhaps learning a bit more and helping a comrade past their troubles, and perhaps even make a new friend or two in the process.

"Room for one more?" she asked as she reached the pair, giving them a cheeky smile. This should prove to be interesting at least.

Kaori had very much wanted to roll her eyes when the man had actually given her a once over. She had seen the reaction many times; people often did not like her skin color. Despite his initial reaction to her, however, he did not comment on it, but had instead answered her question. "Oh, you're looking for one of my cousins. No, she's not in here today, and she usually avoids this place when I'm in here. That, or she just doesn't like to drink. Not sure really. Most of the clan has stopped associating with me..." After having realized that she was rambling, Kaori immediately shut herself up. Just as she did so the red headed girl had approached them.

Kaori smiled brightly at her before motioning for the two of them to join her at her table. "Why don't the two of you come and join me at my table? I feel rather awkward just standing here....and my food is getting cold." She laughed aloud as her stomach made a grumbling sound, almost on queue. She did not think that she had met either of the two shinobi before, but she had been fairly certain that the girl's name began with a K, and was absolutely sure that she was a Jouchaku. Her features matched up perfectly.

Sympathy for the devil (ask first please)

Aimi looked over at the red headed woman who approached he and this other Aisu girl who wasn't Haruna. On an ordinary night, when he wasn't feeling sore and tired and dejected, it might have stroked his pride to have two women approach him in a bar one after the other. Tonight he felt nothing though. His pride was quelled by a silent, tremulous wrath that was directed mostly at himself, muted by the rejection of dealing with such feelings until he was feeling more capable of doing so. The disappointment that this purple skinned Aisu was now who he sought was similarly muted. Aimi had simply stared at her, not saying anything, not emoting as she told him that she was not who he thought. Hammers beat in his head.

He turned his weary gaze back to the purple woman as she offered the two of them to come over and join her at her table. He thought that he wouldn't take her up on her offer and just sit at the bar and drink for a while then head home, but then a spark of who he usually was sprang up in his mind, asking patronizingly, 'Are you really going to pass up the experience of sharing a drink with a woman who's purple? Really?' He had to give it to himself - he was never one to pass up on gaining experiences in life, no matter how mundane. Silently he got up from his stool, swiping up his drink and following this outcast Aisu towards her table, taking a heavy seat down in a chair juxtaposed between her and the red haired woman and putting his glass down on the table. The smell of her food wafted up to his nose, and he considered letting it please him for a moment. He thought perhaps he should order some food as well. Comfort food. It always helped...

Kazuki simply smiled and silently followed behind the pair over towards Kaori's table, silently inspecting her current companions as they walked. They both certainly seemed friendly enough, though it seemed to her that at first at least, the Yamai had been reluctant to join them, as if all he had wanted to do was nurse his drink and then leave. He seemed to be depressed so she couldn't really blame him for that, but it was kind of sad to think about. She had to wonder if maybe she was being meddlesome even by just thinking about trying to help, but she couldn't help it, she was naturally inclined towards helping others out with their problems. She knew that it was probably annoying at times, but that's just how she was.

It took just a moment before she arrived and as she took her seat she caught the smell of the steak on the table, her stomach rumbling at that moment. "That seems pretty good.. Maybe I'll get some food myself." she muttered, looking towards the Yamai as she did, . "So, who might ya be? I'm Kazuki, of the Jouchaku." she said, hoping that an introduction would help to at least break the ice and maybe lighten the mood.

Kaori smiled as she slathered her steak in the sauce, listening to the girl introduce herself. Before she replied, however, she waved the waitress over to take their orders. "I am Kaori, disgrace of the Aisu." Her tone was bright as she introduced herself, for the second time that evening. She didn't mind being the disgrace of her clan, more often than not she took pride in the fact. It was the look on the Yamai's face that had made Kaori decide to explain her unique look though, as he had been giving her a look she was all to used to. "Now I'm sure you are wondering "why purple?" Right? Everyone does at some point. I only had my father growing up, and every night he read me a story about a purple elf. So, when he died, I became that very elf. A tribute to him." She spoke while cutting her steak into bite sized pieces, making sure not to eat until she was sure that she would have time to chew and swallow.

"Might I ask why you were looking for my cousin? Not that we really get along..." Kaori's tone was still bright and cheerful, and she seemed to be in an even better mood than when she had first entered the bar. She loved meeting new people, and hoped that she would become great friends with the two in front of her. "And Kazuki, if you don't mind me asking, what brings you in tonight?" She smiled very brightly at the Jouchaku girl, she was sure that they would become great friends.

Sympathy for the devil (ask first please)

Aimi sat quietly, looking between the two women as they introduced themselves. Kaori Aisu and Kazuki Jouchaku; he prefered Kaori's introduction over Kazuki's. He could hear a modicum of pride in her voice at her own description, 'the disgrace of the Aisu'. She was different, she didn't mind being different, she flourished because she was different. Aimi respected that greatly. Kazuki's introduction, on the other hand, made him wince. It reminded him of how they were supposed to introduce themselves that he'd learned as a child but never bothered to properly remember and by the time he was a chunin he'd stopped doing it all together. 'Your name, bled from the house that owns you, of the clan you're from, shinobi of the Kirigakure' or some drivel like that. All that pomp and circumstance over a name that meant nothing to the people who spoke it if you repeated it long enough. It was a pet peeve he was reminded of that he was thankful neither of them actually participated in.

When it came time for his introduction, he looked between them for a moment and raised his glass. "Aimi Yamai. Guten nocht," he said, tilting the glass back and taking another gulp of the cream colored liquor. He though, maybe, he tasted a bit of honey in that drink but he wasn't sure. Setting his half empty glass down, he turned to the self described 'purple elf' and answered her. "No reason. I heard the name Aisu, she popped into my head. That's all." It was only a half truth. He neglected to tell them about the link between Haruna and Yuri and himself and how, if she had been there, he'd wanted to talk to her about Yuri. A purple elf and half his favorite element in a kekkei genkai were second place to that, he supposed.

"It's nice to meet you both." Kazuki responded after they had each made their introductions, taking special note of the way that Kaori seemed to have some amount of pride towards being her clan's disgrace. That was something that she could sort of relate to in a way, her own sexuality, and the fact that she would never have any children of her own as result, bringing disdain from a portion of her own clan. She didn't know if she could act proud of it as Kaori surely could, but she certainly didn't mind it and most definitely wasn't about to change herself just for the sake of gaining the approval of those whose opinions didn't particularly matter in the long run.

She remained silent for a while, silently listening to her companions as they spoke, finding Kaori's story about her current appearance particularly fascinating, though she did also wonder what kind of connection Aimi could really have to one of the Aisu if he had been looking for a member of the clan. Though soon enough the time came for her silence to be broken as a question was posed to her as well.

"I'm mostly here, because I felt like drinking." she responded to the question that had been asked of her, grinning as a waitress passed by their table. "...and also because I felt like flirting around. It is after all one of the few places where I can freely do this.." she trailed off, still grinning as she reached over and gave the passing waitress a light slap on the butt. She was in a really good mood at this point, surrounded by potential new friends, and even surrounded by pretty girls, what more could a girl want?
