The training was simple, he would use the secrets written on the scroll he now had in his possession and just keep trying. Thing was he could break his hand if he wasn’t careful so for now he would just punch the ground.
To begin with he channeled chakra, he channeled it into his hands by forming a singular handseal and just kept on channeling until he thought he had enough. When he hit this point he raised his fist and aimed for the ground. Unfortunately he was incapable of holding the jutsu as his fist hit the ground with a sickening crunch. Of course it was merely a figment of his imagination, really what had happened was he had managed to hit a snail on his way down and his fist was now covered in goo and snail shell.
This not only felt quite disgusting as it oozed around his fingers, but he could feel the pieces of shell cutting into his skin like a thousand tiny needles. As if this wasn’t bad enough, the snail was still alive (Only barely) and he watched as it feebly raised one of its antenna before slowly dying collapsing and not moving again.
Cleaning off his hand he studied the snails dead corpse in detail. He began by looking at it from above and then placed his face closer wondering what exactly a snail looked like when crushed. Didn’t take him long to finish studying it and then he began again, this time not taking as long to channel the chakra with the handseal. Quick punch, hit the ground, nothing. Try again, handseal quick punch hits ground nothing. This went on and on for a few minutes and then Hagama decided to try something different due to his impatience and paranoia as to someone wanting to do something or whatever he was feeling right now.
This time he formed a handseal but held it for awhile, trying to focus the chakra into the shape he wanted. He didn’t want to screw it up so he continued focusing the same amount of chakra for a few more minutes and then blam. He hit the ground as hard as he could. He made a large indent because of it but the chakra had dissipated just as he hit the ground and so it was a lot less than it could have been.
This was going to be painful if he wasn’t careful. The continued struggle for chakra control was decent. He could manage to get it almost to maximum power, however it was keeping that power available that was the issue. Every single time he set it, he would get to the ground and as soon as his fist touched the ground it would dissipate causing a lot less damage than it should have. He couldn’t figure out why, and he didn’t want to try this on a rock instead of the soft dirt for obvious reasons.
He continued and attempted, he channeled and punched. He even went so far as to try desperation by aiming for a boulder. None of it worked, and he had the bruised hand to prove it. His knuckles were getting bloody, his moral was weakening and he honestly had no idea what was going on that stopped him from performing Jutsu.
This went on longer and then finally he had an idea, this time instead of channeling the chakra into his right hand he channeled it into his left. The result? Instant success. He hit the ground leaving a large indent. Next he tried it on a boulder, the strength of his own body and that of his strengthened hand enough to crack it easily.
And so this marked his first success at mastering the jutsu specific to that of Iwagakure and soon he would try again.
