Hatching the first egg

The interior of the retired building hadn't gone through much change in the few hours since her arrival as Heiya shifted through the files that had been delivered to her. Among them, the files for the new hosts, which Heiya had only given a cursory glance before shifting through the others. She was adorned in a green shirt, the collar taut against her throat, with a swooping u-neckline in the back revealing his back. The black shorts she wore had long black shear hanging from it as a skirt. Tapping her foot against the ground, she had one file in hand that she was flipping through.

The room was dimly lit, a single desk with two chairs in front of it, the desk appeared to be more for a receptionist than anything. This seemed especially true given that there was two hallways, one on each side of her, leading back. There were three windows, one to the right of the door and two to the left of it. The first to the left had large cracks that scattered the light going through it. A single lamp, which Heiya had turned on to find it added barely any light to the room. The walls were painted white, but were stained by the dust that had settled on them for too long, and there were large chips beginning to come off of it. The only redeeming quality of the room was the door, which Heiya had promptly replaced with tungesten upon her arrival, giving it a quite regal appearance; especially in contrast to the rest of the room.

Standing, she walls around the desk and leaned against the front of it, continuing to read through the file in hand. She'd sent for the shinobi she was reviewing, a young genin; an enkouten.

The structure of the organization was simple. There would be leaders, which given the name of the organization she'd decided to dub hens, which would be special jounin and jounin who would be charged with mentoring the jinchuurinki. These would be shinobi of specific quality that would be able to manage the beasts, but had a disposition towards training young shinobi and otherwise getting them up to snuff. She was particularly interested in shinobi that had prestige they'd gained during the war, something that would add credence to their mission.

Then there was the chicks, as she'd decided to call them, which would be genin and chuunin. There would obviously be the jinchuurinki, but also they would be assigned rivals, partners, whatever you want to call then, that would grow with the jinchuurinki and be skilled and knowledgeable about their abilities. This would create a network for the jinchuurinki that would ideally allow them to grow to be exemplary shinobi.

Her first chick had been selected, Enkouten, Kaede was a slightly older genin, that was still developing her skillset. Heiya hoped that she might be a little more mature, but still able to be molded, making her a good candidate. For now, Heiya awaited her arrival.

The day had begun normally enough, Kaede having spent her morning helping around the house, but it quickly took a bit of an abnormal turn with the arrival of a messenger with an urgent notice. Given the urgent nature, she had of course assumed it to be for her mom or dad but it turned out to have been intended for her instead. She wasn't really made aware of the details at the time, only that she was being called on to serve the village in a meaningful way. Of course she was elated at the chance of possibly getting to help with some larger task but all the same she had her doubts. She was only a Genin after all, so what worthwhile contributions could she possibly make?

With hopes and doubts both in mind she headed out, soon arriving at her destination, an old retired building. She was more confused than ever at the sight but not being one to disobey a direct order she nonetheless headed inside.

As she entered the first thing she noticed was how dimly lit the room was, the person she was meeting either having a taste for dark spaces or having just moved in, maybe even both. The second was the general dirtiness of the building, giving more credence to the latter part of her theory.

The third was the single woman sitting behind a desk, likely a receptionist of some sort. Regardless she steadily approached, now being the time to announce her arrival. Though on top of her usual shyness she had to admit.. she was feeling pretty nervous.

"E..En..Enkouten Kaede, reporting in."

Heiya leaned against the desk as Kaede walked in, eyeing the young woman closely. She was meek, Heiya could tell that immediately in the hesitancy the young woman had in announcing herself. Pushing strands of blonde hair behind her ear, Heiya smiled at Kaede softly "Hello Ms. Kaede.". Heiya voice was soft, a little raspy, but easy to understand. She gestured towards on of the dusty chairs, indicating that Kaede should sit. Remaining where she was, Heiya continued to flip through the file in her hand until it she arrived at the end of the file. Removing one paper, she handed it to Kaede.

"This paper is my formal request to have you moved under my supervision. I submitted it a few hours ago. Usually the process moves a bit slower but I've been given a relatively important task and I am fortunate enough to have you in front of me already.", she'd let Kaede take a moment to look over it. It was mostly a formality, naming the organization, Heiya's request which gave very little detail as to why she chose Kaede, and a stamp from two council members approving the transition. She reached over the front of the desk and placed the file behind her, crossing her arms.

Once Kaede finished looking over the paper, Heiya would smile again and the nod, taking it back. "You were my first choice for my little team. I'm glad you were approved. I have a very simple question for you, and please answer honestly; do you know what a jinchuuriki is?". Heiya did her best not to make the word seem to sinister, or the entire premise seem strange, but to be honest, it was a bit. She hoped she wasn't going to scare this poor little genin.

Kaede tilted her head in curiosity as she took her seat, listening to the woman speak all the while. She had been placed under Heiya's supervision? And how was she in any manner related to this important task? Clearly there was a bigger picture here but... she was admittedly puzzled as to what could possibly be going on, moreso as Heiya went on to mention Jinchuuriki. It was a term that honestly sent a bit of a chill down her spine but it wasn't too bad and even still she knew this was a time to be brave. She was absolutely meek and easily frightened but this was a perfect opportunity to start working past it.

And so she took a deep breath, taking a moment while doing so to fiddle with her hair, the action helping to calm her nerves. "Honestly, not a whole lot beyond old stories and rumors. Though I always thought the stories were just that..." she began though just as quickly trailed off, pausing as pieces began to click into place.

"Wait... are the stories actually real?"
