Fukusha Compound - Dojo

Post by hobnob » Sun Mar 12, 2023 10:25 am

It was training day. Kurai got to the dojo nice and early. He was always the first one there, he was definitely one of the most eager children of the Fukusha. His skill was also admired by some fully fledged members of the clan. Some wondered how a child of his age, a child who had not awakened the Shogo-Zumi could be so skilled at anything. But Kurai knew, he knew without knowing. He loved it, and he wanted more. That was the reason? Nothing else.

The night before the youth decided he would practice one of his clans close quarters techniques. It was one of the more basic techniques, but one that would come in handy sooner or later. The Tactile Palm, a simple technique which could be deadly when used correctly.

Kurai entered the clans fighting style stance, the walking stance. And began practicing the technique is slow motion. The technique consisted of using one hand as a distraction, while the other would thrust into the opponents chest, winding them. With him being right handed, his left hand would be used as a distraction. He closed his eyes a visualised an opponent before him. For now, the imaginary opponent would remain stationary. This allowed Kurai to practice the movement. His left hand moved up and waved in front of the opponents face, the distraction was effective. Now, he practiced the thrust with his right. This was the easier movement, a simple thrust to the sternum, there was not much to it. But now it was time to combine the movements, and perform them with some speed.

The youth took a deep breath, moving his left hand in a waving motion and his right in a striking motion when his left was in front of the opponents face. The right palm shot out and connected, pushing the opponent back and causing him to get winded. This was much easier to do against an imaginary opponent. He knew this would not be so easy in real life. The opponent would have to begin moving, dodging, behaving like a real opponent and threat.

So, the Fukusha imagined the opponent dashing around the dojo and also attacking. A much better resemblance of a realistic situation. And the difference was already easy to see. A moving opponent was harder to hit, and the important part was to pick the right time to strike. That was the key to everything in this game. But eventually, they youth managed to do it, and once he was confident with the movement, he would practice it by switching which arm he used for the technique. It was harder, but he could still do it. He’s continue to practice this until he was happy he had mastered the movement with both arms.

When the user is fighting up close and personal, they will wave their off hand in the face of their opponent as a distraction while their other hand will perform an underhanded palm strike to the chest. This strike aims to wind them with a blow to the sternum which can create useful openings.

With one of his clans techniques mastered, it was time to move onto another. This technique was slightly different. It was more of a counter than an attacking move. It may only be useful in countering situations, but if done correctly it would provide a useful move to place himself and the opponent in positions of advantage to the user. The youth had to work from memory, he had remembered a member of his clan performing this move during a sparring evening. It was truly something.

The aim of the move was to intercept and incoming strike, divert it towards the opposite side of the diverting arm, spin the opponent and eventually land a strong strike to the targets head. This would hopefully disorient the victim, and give the user an upper hands. Kurai was hoping to master this move as quickly as he could, the more practice he had with using this move, the better he would be in a real situation.

Once again it was time to visualise an opponent. His eyes closed as he entered the walking stance. He took a couple of deep breaths as his opponent appeared in his minds eye. The opponent who looked exactly like Kurai, dashed towards him. And threw a simple jab towards his face. Kurai me body moved as if it were possessed. His arm moved and intercepted the incoming strike, pushing it off to the side. The youth now had to time his strike to the last precise second, otherwise the opponent could react and dodge or even counter the attack. The opponent began to spin, and his head was now directly in line with Kurai elbow, it moved. The strike was delivered directly to the back of the opponents head causing them to jerk from the pain. This was a success. But it was nothing to celebrate just yet.

It was going to take time for the movement to become automatic, which is what Kurai was aiming for. During a fight, concentrating of the attacks and movements he had to carry out would be too distracting, his attacks had to be automatic so he could focus all his attention on thinking of strategy and tactics.

His eyes remained closed, and his evil doppelgänger would once again attack him. This time using the opposite arm, and the youth defended, just as well as he did last time. This would be the process until he was happy with the skill he had mastered the technique to.

The user will intercept an incoming strike aimed for them, and divert it to the side opposite of the hand they're using to divert. As they attempt to move the opponent around them they will raise their arm on the side they're directing the opponent, and jab a strong elbow to that person's head as an attempt to disorient or land a sturdy blow to the face (-1 Willpower). While rudimentary it is still a strong strike as it's compatible with most incoming attacks of the physical nature.

Fukusha Compound - Dojo

The sweat was slowly running down the face of the young Fukusha. He was really placing a lot of pressure on himself. Constantly practicing what he has already learnt, and once happy practicing new moves really took a toll on him. He had to take a short break to catch his break and collect himself. It was now time for him to move onto the next technique. It was another technique that was used to disorient the opponent. Although this move involved a lot more action than the other, and it was more of an offensive move than a counter.

Kurai had collected himself, and took the walking stance of the clans fighting style. Few deep breaths, and his eyes closed. His minds eye began working once again. His doppelgänger appeared and they began quickly. The opponent dashed towards him, throwing numerous attacks. And Kurai for the time being concentrated on avoiding the attacks, while trying to set himself up to carry out the attack, and disable his opponent. A brief moment later, the opponent lowers his arms for a split second, enough time for Kurai to take advantage of his opponents mistake. His left hand moved rapidly toward the opponents nose, striking it. Immediately the opponents eyes filled with water from the force of the strike. His weight shifted onto his heel as he spun rapidly raising his other leg and then ringing it down onto his opponents head.

The attack was successful, but it was obvious that this move was much harder to coordinate than any of the others he had learnt so far. It was a useful move, the opponent was now on the flow and left pretty widely open. If Kurai wanted to he could finish him with ease. But for now he needed more practice with this technique. One use was not enough to make him confident in its use.

His opponent jumped back to his feet and immediately proceeded to attack. Kurai on the defensive once again proceeded to coordinate his movements in order to land the technique and successfully disable his opponent, leaving him open for further attacks. This time it felt easier, Kurai knew what he had to do and how to land the attack, but he wanted to try with his other hand leading the attack. Being ambidextrous was a hand trick to have up the sleeve, and so he made sure to practice every move with both hands. He would continue practicing, until he was happy with carrying the move out.

When fighting in close quarters with an opponent, the user will jut an open palm strike at their opponent's nose attempting to disorient the target (-1 Willpower) before spinning quickly on their back heel as they raise their opposite leg high in the air and bring it down in an axe kick. They will aim to strike and cradle their opponent's head down towards the ground. This move can prove fruitful for creating a wide opening on an opponent as its goal is to disorient, and then bring their opponents down onto the ground with a strong kick.
