Order Falls to Chaos

Post by Niro » Mon Nov 13, 2023 6:13 pm

Today was not the day, Natsumi was quickly concluding. Her weekend had been great! Tatsuo had taken her out to a fancy new restaurant in the village before the pair left to go enjoy the views along the mountain peaks of Rock Country and maybe see the Aurora to the north. Lucky had smiled upon them and the pair was treated to a beautiful light show before eventually returning to the village before dawn broke.

Now? Her quiet stroll through the people packed market district from the Tsuchikage's Mansion and into work transformed into a full on sprint across the roof tops to remove the obstacle of people blocking the way. The alert fuuinjutsu kept in her jacket for the hospital began to go off wildly, the code coming across it the highest level it could possibly be and basically demanding her attention to a major issue happening there right now. It was Monday and for this to be the first thing for her to deal with in the morning was not on her list of pleasant starts. The moment she burst through the doors of Iwagakure General Hospital, she was set upon by an assistant with an update of what was going on.

The Order jinchuuriki had come earlier this morning with abdominal pain. She was given some medication to help relieve it, the nurses on duty thinking it was something routine like cramps or IBS. However, all medical methods to help quell her pain became useless as it soon became apparent even morphine was barely providing relief at this point. Testing on her revealed her tenketsu were burning up and the Genma's chakra was flaring throughout the seal holding it at bay, if not breaking it down entirely. The poor compatibility between the host and the spirit was eating away at the seal and at the girl from within. Already the word had been sent to the Research Department for aid and an item for the Genma to be held within but a medic had stayed at the girls bed side trying to render her medical aid.

A girl trying iijutsu at the edge of Hiroko's bed tried her best to alleviate her pain but it was clear to Natsumi as she got eyes on the Enkouten things were about to take a turn for the worst. Her hair was tied back and a stern look was on her face as she turned to the assistant.

"Go and get me Kanade, I don't care what she's doing or who she's with." She barked out as she began to channel chakra, the purple glow of Tenkujutsu beginning to emanate from her hands as she placed them upon the girls stomach. Natsumi directed the chakra to reinforce the seal at least until more help was here and they could seal the Genma into something. Between her attempt to hold the Genma's corroding chakra at bay and the medic trying her best to keep the girl alive, Natsumi wasn't sure who was having the worst of it.

As Hiroko went about her day she would start to feel the pain and at first she thought it was normal especially when the hospital told her so. But when it became apparent the pain was getting worse she would ask the spirit “hey Otsukoki is everything ok between us? “ Otsukoki would then respond “what ever do you mean why ever would there be a problem between us?” But as the pain got worse and she went to the hospital and as she laid in the hospital bed in pain she would ask again “you didn’t quite answer clearly last time so was wondering if you were upset about anything “ they then kept chatting for awhile until a nurse came in and Hiroko said to Otsukoki “yes or no is everything ok with us” Otsukoki just fell silent for a bit as Hiroko laid in pain.

They soon told her that something was wrong with the seal so she got angry yelling “that bitch!” To which Otsukoki responded “hmph why I never! How rude!” Causing Hiroko to yell “rude! You got to be fucking kidding me! You been plotting against be that’s far worse then rude!”
Then Otsukoki would say “ there are differences maybe if you applied your self more to your lessons you would know this.”
Hiroko would then start yelling at Otsukoki making it look like she was arguing and insulting no one it would definitely be awkward if you couldn’t hear what Otsukoki was saying.

As Hiroko tried to focus on her anger at Otsukoki and ignore the pain.

Ohhhh why did this have to happen? Earlier that morning Yoshiko had been working with her flower garden when she had been called in for a seemingly innocuous checkup, a girl having come in complaining about various aches and pains. The girl was given some Morphine and given a bed to relax in, Yoshiko having chosen to stay by her side and watch over her.

At first all seemed to be well but soon the situation worsened, rapidly turning from bad to worse. Of course there was a brief moment of internal panic but she did her best not to show it as she rushed over, meanwhile sending out a portion of her swarm with a hastily scribbled note detailing the situation. As her swarm rushed out to carry out her order she was channeling chakra to her hands, performing a diagnostic check. The results... were far from what she had hoped for, the girl's vitals all having completely destabilized in what had been only a matter of moments. Even worse was the telltale glow of chakra leaking from her body.

It was a short time later that the news she didn't want to hear arrived, some more testing revealing that the girl's tenketsu were burning up and she was likely to die. That in itself was almost enough to send Yoshiko into a panicked frenzy but she simply nodded and set to work, channeling chakra to her hands and placing them upon the girl's torso, hoping to at least provide whatever relief she could until help arrived.

Help wasn't far off it seemed as a woman she recognized as Nyūsen, Natsumi arrived on the scene. She was more than grateful for the arrival of someone like her but she couldn't let herself be distracted, turning back towards her work. With that said she was honestly feeling just that little bit more relieved, her swarm in turn fluttering about her at a much more relaxed, albeit still slightly heightened, pace.

All said she couldn't help but frown, finding this entire situation a bit strange. "Just what on earth is happening here? Why is nothing working?" she muttered, looking toward the Enkouten girl's clearly pained face as her health continued to deteriorate. "Surely there's something more I can do than this..."

Order Falls to Chaos

Post by Kanade » Tue Nov 14, 2023 6:24 am

Kanade was out with Kotori, they were on a mission to find another wayward spirit and Kotori had started to pick up the gist of how to do it quite well. Kanade felt a sense of pride in her, and the fact that she was the next generation of Iwagakure ninja was icing on the cake. She felt the pride of not only the girl but also the village she was a part of and the warm breeze that was blowing that carried with it the spicy turnings of the season made for a lovely walk toward their destination. No need to burn themselves out. Kotori, however, being in her early teen years seemed to have much more energy than the old soul in a new body, Kanade and had wandered on ahead.

A person appeared to her left and she jumped back, literally a couple of meters and got halfway through making a seal to defend herself when she recognized the assistant from the hospital, why wouldn't she with the hundreds of hours she had sank into the Iwagakure hospital as a form of not only duty, but also socializing since coming to the village. The assistant was winded and Chiaki raised an eyebrow, "What, what's happening?"

"Natsumi's orders, get to the hospital. Stat." The words came between gasps. Kanade arrived at Kotori's location in the blink of an eye, her butterflies gathered close around them, creating a barrier in front of the girl and Kanade shook her head, "Spirit can wait, Natsumi needs me now, which means you're coming with-" She opened a portal, where on the other side Kanade could see the front of the hospital, made a motion like she was sweeping something off the counter and the butterflies pushed Kotori through to the other side, "yoink." She said and as she stepped through the assistant came puffing behind.

"th-third floor, in the ICU." The Assistant wheezed, "Genma breaking through seal."

"Yeah, that's not good. Kotori you're with me." Kanade said as she strode as fast as she could through the hospital, making for the fire escape stairs and ascending them as fast as Kotori could go. The butterflies would assist with any speed lags or falls the girl would have as Kanade ascended the stairs as quick as possible.

A couple minutes would find both girls in the room, Kanade already forming seals, she would assist Natsumi with the process of keeping the spirit at bay, "What the hell?" She would whisper at Natsumi, "Is it always this sudden? What do you need me to do besides just hold this stupid thing in?” She grit her teeth and poured her chakra into the seal, trying to keep it from bursting, “Damn, it’s as strong as Vorashu.” The butterflies around her flew around the space a couple inches from the ceiling, knowing that Kanade would become angry at the drop of a hat if they messed up the procedure.

The people of Iwagakure had plenty to boast about. They had a young, powerful Tsuchikage with a grand vision for the future. A strong military led by capable bannin and jounin. A long, rich history as the continent’s oldest village. There were advances in technology and research that would soon establish the village as a hub of modernity. The village’s smiths were, of course, still unrivaled. The list went on.

Strong jinchuuriki, unfortunately, was not part of that list.

For the past few decades the village’s jinchuuriki had been abject failures. Disappointment after disappointment followed each host like a heavy shroud. Most were simply incompatable, and the genma violently rejected their bodies. Others couldn’t master controlling the beasts and were eventually overwhelmed and overpowered. Shizuo had been working with spirits for nearly a decade and had seen nearly every possible unfavorable outcome. His first experience was by far the rarest and most dramatic: the death of the Empathy genma. He had only just joined the Tenkujutsu division and had been present at the scene, barely escaping with his life. He and others blamed the host, that selfish woman who had refused all efforts to help strengthen her bond with the beast. Its loss came mere months after the start of the Great War, an was a devastating blow to the village’s forces. A year later when the genma was finally reborn into its current form he hadn’t been part of the group that sealed it, but he had heard that had been a formidable event. He had witnessed and had been a part of several sealings since then, including the one that had killed half of the village council. Shizuo had come to expect something to go wrong with every host. Normally he was detached from the process, but the last failure had hit him especially hard. The jounin was newly resolved to make sure that the next time a jinchuuriki failed, the host and those around them didn’t suffer.

It was the beginning the week and Shizuo’s schedule was already hectic. As always there were reports of spirits running wild and requests to wrangle them. Also on his desk were one or two requests for his services in remote areas of Rock Country. Beneath those, over half a dozen general research consults ranging from medicine to poisons. The man liked to be busy, but this was a bit ridiculous.

“Shizuo-san. We have a problem.”

The jounin turned and was greeted by the very serious face of one of his subordinates, a young woman who had been on his team since he first became serious in his tenkujustu reearch. When he met her gaze he found her expression was strained, and in her eyes he could understand everything she wanted to say but couldn’t. Shizuo sighed and brought his palm to his forehead and closed his eyes.

“Not again.”

Less than fifteen minutes later he stood at the entrance of the General Hospital. With him were four others from the Tenkujutsu Research Intitute and each of their brows were creased with concern. ”Could it be at a worse location?” The jounin touched his necklace and fiddled with one of the heavy black beads and took a moment to think. There were hundreds of people in the hospital alone. Around them were some of the busiest blocks in the district, buzzing with activity as villagers went about their business. Their task was simple, but daunting: protect the village from the genma at all costs. “Seal the area.” With that simple command, two of his comrades nodded and darted off to erect a barrier. The remaining jounin then took off, leaving a cloud of dust in their wake as they leaped upwards to the third floor.

It didn’t take long to find the group they were looking for. “Natsumi-san,” he gave her a shallow bow in recognition of her station then looked at the woman aiding her. He didn’t recognize the woman next to her with the bright orange eyes, but he nodded his head at her. “We brought the container and sealed the area just in case, but we need to move her to the bunker. The last thing we want is more than the usual collateral damage.” His voice was calm but it carried enough strength to convey that he was an man of considerable authority, and that the comment was kin to an order. Not that he dared to actually order around the Tsuchikage’s wife. Shizuo looked down at the soon-to-be corpse and the girl desperately trying to keep her alive. Chakra leaked from the host’s body, but from the looks of the glow’s intensity it was only a small amount. For now.

“Ready to move when you are.”

Order Falls to Chaos

"There is an Established Order to the world, Hiroko, and then there is the Natural Order of the world. The Established Order set by humans is only upheld when one has the strength and the conviction to do so. By neglecting to subjugate and master my power over the last few years, you've given me plenty enough time to work my way free of this seal. A shame; you humans must be subjugated for your own good. That is the Natural Order of the world, the Genma ruling and humans serving. I'll miss you, Hiroko but I'll think back fondly of our brief time together. Goodbye." The cold, aloof voice of Otsukoki rang out throughout Hiroko's mind before searing pain would take over her every sense. The enormous amount of chakra coming from the seal led to her tenketsu and chakra pathways being overloaded to the point of rupture all throughout her body. The ruptures along her pathway and inside her tenketsu would be reminiscent of miniature bombs going off within her, causing the girls body to involuntarily spasm in pain.

The look upon Natsumi's face was grim yet determined as Kanade's reinforcement finally came and gave her a much needed hand at suppressing the attempting-to-rampage Genma. With her aid, the two of them were able to more steadily contain the escaping chakra rather than let it run wild but even still it continued to climb in intensity. Between the girls condition and the chakra coming off of her, it wouldn't be long before the situation turned critical. The situation so dire, Natsumi didn't even realize Kanade had brought along the other Genma host, Kotori, who'd be stuck watching just what would happen to her if she failed to mastery her own powers. Nor did the thought cross her mind for the the ability for the two Genma to resonate with such an event going on and one's chakra leaking into the air like a noxious fume.

"Sometimes it's like this. Whenever the Genma is able to work itself free of their host, the breakdown of the seal is usually a catastrophic event like this. Shinjiro is one of the longest surviving Genma jinchuuriki across the entire continent. He's part of the exception when it comes to hosts, not the norm." Natsumi explained through grunts as the pair continued their task of trying to hold back a dam with their bare hands. "For right now, we just need to hold on until we have something to seal it in and the area is evacuated. Can't let it break in the hospital."

The appearance of Shizuo and his assistants was even more of a relief to the blonde. The three of them here meant there was only one other person within the village who could contend with their experience in Tenkujutsu and Natsumi had a feeling it wouldn't take long for them to arrive either. Even though the TRI Head had prepared the bunker ahead of time, she didn't believe the girl would survive transport or the Genma would give them the chance to move her either.

'Where are you?! Natsumi's [Mind Communion] linked with Tatsuo reached across the village to ping the Tsuchikage, the woman's mental voice coming over with quite the angered tone.

Coming~ Coming~ Had to pick someone up. Go, we'll be able to follow.' His voice called back, a more jovial tone than the situation should allow lacing the thought.

Natsumi clicked her tongue in annoyance before out of her peripheral vision to Kanade at her side. "Get ready. All you for a moment. Brace yourself." She told the other woman before chakra flared around her. From the center of the room, an Open Space-Time portal formed and stretched wide enough to accompany the entire room and its occupants. The scene changed to another hospital, the only thing giving away the difference being the black void observable from the windows. Natsumi's personal realm was a near identical copy of Iwagakure General Hospital but now they wouldn't have to worry about collateral damage.

It was just in time, too, as the chakra pouring out from Hiroko's broken form causing cracks to begin to tear themselves free of her skin, dark red chakra pulsing from beneath the flesh as the Genma was pushing even harder on the seal.

After the argument Hiroko would start writing a detailed diary of her life and experience as a jinchuriki highlighting all her possible mistakes like isolation from other jinchuriki and listening to much to the genma as well as focusing on appeasing the genma with learning what it wanted her to like etiquette instead of working on mastering it’s power. As well as anything else she could think of. After she was done writing the long and lengthy journal determined to do at least something good for the village after this failure.

She was so disappointed in herself that she ended up as a failure. But couldn’t afford to wallow in despair just yet as her body continued to be wracked with ever increasing pain. After she was done with the diary she would finish writing a note to Kotori saying “sorry I had to go like this thanks for being my friend it meant the world to me I know your having problems with your genma also please don’t shut it out or you won’t be able to master it and may end up like me. I hope you manage to live a long life my dearest friend.”

It was around now that the genma would begin speaking to her again and when she was done to mark the end of the discussion she would begin her escape attempt. Before Hiroko could say anything her body was wracked with pain she didn’t know could exist as her body started to self destruct. she would hold on as long as she could. But would look on surprised and horrified as Kotori saw her. She would let out a few tears as she didn’t want Kotori final memory of her to be like this.

She would then fight through the pain to give Kotori the note and diary she wrote before suddenly spasming again. She would then hold on for dear life until she saw blackness. Barely able to hold on anymore and figuring this would be safe place to let go she relaxes her body and stops fighting causing the genma to finally escape

As time passed and Hiroko's condition continued to worsen Yoshiko was no longer panicking but was instead growing increasingly frustrated at her own inability to help. Whatever was going on, she did realize this situation was truly out of her league... requiring a skillset that she didn't have. That only became clearer as others began to arrive on the scene, some that she recognized and others more unfamiliar. As the other women handled their own task she gritted her teeth while increasing her own chakra output, determined to do all she could to at least make the inevitable outcome as painless as possible.

As she worked she caught bits and pieces of the discussion around her, frowning at what she heard. She had heard of the Genma of course and knew something of them being sealed in humans, though she had never met such a host herself. And that was when it hit her, this girl WAS such a host and this was the result of something going catastrophically wrong. Were they simply incompatible or was it something more? She could think of any number of reasons for this.

It was then that a man burst into the room and she very briefly turned her head towards him, unable to help but blink at the sheer authority with which he spoke. It was just a moment however before she turned her attention back towards the girl in front of her. Everyone here except for herself clearly had experience dealing with these things. Maybe... just maybe she could learn how they did it so she wouldn't be so helpless should something else like this happen.

Just as she had that thought Natsumi spoke and she barely had time to do as she was told before a portal formed and the scenery changed... sort of, the only real difference being the black void outside. She had a lot of questions about what was going on but she had more important things on her mind and so she took a deep breath, turning her head once more towards her superiors.

"So, what's going to happen now? And is there anything more that I can do to help? Since I'm here I want to do everything in my power to provide whatever assistance I can."

Kanade grit her teeth as Natsumi said that it was all hers for a moment. She considered using a jutsu to try to buffer herself while the transition was happening, but thought better of it and made one sharp whistle to the butterflies. The pearl morphos who were hanging about on the ceiling dove like peregrine falcons, but twice as fast, attaching themselves to the tops of Kotori's and her own feet. Four were assigned to shoulders and shoulder blades, and a couple more were placed along hers and Kotori's vertebrae to stabilize the journey. It would take an eruption of the same scope as when Maido had perished to knock them about now.

Natsumi heard the girl's final words before the pain ripped through the girl on the operating table. She didn't even know this child's name, but she was certainly going to die if Yoshiko didn't put her back into the healing business and kept asking questions like she was. "You can heal this one, to the best of your ability for a start." Kanade opened her eyes wide in exasperation, never wavering from pouring her chakra into the seal to keep it from exploding outwards and sending all of them through the wall, floor, ceiling, or into the void that held the hospital.

She herself had a hospital, but it was more her vision for what the hospital in Kintsugi should have been, rather than the familiar setting of Iwagakure General. She knew that if push came to shove, and Natsumi ran out of chakra, they would all be back in the mortal realm, rather than this pocket dimension, and then the real catastrophe would begin.

"Damnit, this is my first breakthrough." Kanade gritted her teeth and continued to hold the seal. There wasn't much else for her to do. She could have tried to make a clone, or reverse time so that they had a bit more warning. She realized that the life Genma holder was still there, in the room with them. She looked at Kotori for a split second so that the girl would know that she was addressing her, before her eyes snapped back to the other Jinchuuriki, “You may be needed before the end. Ask your resident spirit how she can help.” She kept her eyes on her work from then on, setting her jaw. Her hair was no longer the color of cold obsidian but was blazing hot in a brilliant orange color, her eyes were no longer orange but a fiery yellow. It took all of her concentration just to keep this Genma from getting loose.

Luckily, the remaining two members of Shizuo's team appeared in the room just before Natsumi transported them. The jounin breathed a sigh of relief knowing he had all four of them at his side. When the scenery outside changed from the brightness of the sky above the village to the darkness of Natsumi's personal realm, Shizuo took a moment to stare out at the stark difference, lost in thought. He would have preferred they work in the bunker they prepared. If worst came to worst, he was able to call upon more people to assist. Here they were more isolated. His team should be sufficient, but these scenarios never went quite as planned and Shizuo wasn't the optimistic type.

With a wave of his hand, three members of his team moved the container into position a few feet away from the failing jinchuuriki. It was huge, big enough for two grown men to sit inside comfortably. On its surface were fifty large, open eyes. From a distance they appeared to be painted on, but up close one could see they were clearly something else entirely, appearing to be actual eyes of different colors and sizes. The eyes were unblinking, but the irises moved slightly as if taking in the scenery. It was one of the Institute's creations, and Shizuo was very proud of their work on it. As the trio set it up, the jounin looked toward the three struggling women. It was important that they kept the jinchuuriki alive up until the last possible moment.

Shizuo turned to Kotori - why on earth was she here? - and gave her a warm smile. "Stay back a safe distance, alright? We don't want to give Nolosha any ideas." Though smiling, the man levied a heavy gaze and looked deeply into the girl's eyes as if telling the genma within her, Behave. Then, he stepped around the medic and quickly drew a small seal on Hiroko's forehead with his chakra. The jounin next dragged the side table several feet away from them, knocking off whatever was on top of it, and then drew another much larger fuuin on its surface. Once he finished it started glowing and arcane symbols appeared within the array. They changed and shifted, reflecting Hiroko's vitals. The symbols would be nonsense to anyone else in the room but Shizuo knew exactly what they meant. With it he would monitor Hiroko's vitals, including the state of her and the genma's chakra. It should give them warning when the genma was closer to breaking free.

That warning was fast approaching. "We probably have, hmm...ten minutes before all hell breaks loose." He made eye contact with the tall blond member of his team, and the man quickly shuffled into position next to the huge jar, his hands on the lid waiting to turn and open it.

Order Falls to Chaos

Hachiya Kotori had been running ahead of Kanade, focused on the path ahead and planning her upcoming confrontation with a lesser spirit on their second mission, when the emergency summons came. Suddenly Kanade appeared mid-stride beside her, and with the briefest explanation and even quicker motion of the jounin's hand, Kotori found herself thrust sideways through a shimmering portal. She staggered out, still in half a run, and only just caught herself from falling. She looked around with wide, shocked eyes at the sudden turn of events, slowly coming to recognise the hospital building and frowning in confusion even as Kanade and her increasingly insistent swarm shunted her onwards and upwards. The assistant's words didn't make any sense; she was fine, wasn't she? Kotori focused her mind inwards momentarily, reaching out within herself and towards that bundle of radiance that was Nolosha. The ever-present beast was a bastion of solemnity within, humming with power and, perhaps, an undertone of heady anticipation. Nervous. Eager. Snapping her attention back to reality, Kotori raised her hands and opened her mouth to insist that she was fine, and that this was all a mistake, until the alternative option crossed her mind: Hiroko. Hiroko whom she hadn't seen for weeks. And suddenly Kotori was running under her own power, charging ahead to try and catch up with Kanade.

Go no further, child. Nolosha spoke to her, her voice a soothing whisper. What is happening above, with my sibling, is not your concern. Leave, now, and stay safely away. True to her wise and cautious nature, Kotori heedlessly burst through the door to Hiroko's hospital room anyway, slamming it open elbow first and staggering inside with wild eyes. And there she was, a twitching, writhing, screaming lookalike of her friend. An outpouring of ominous chakra formed something of a shroud around the Enkouten's form, despite the efforts of Natsumi and, soon enough, Kanade too. She felt Nolosha quiver and groan in counterpoint to the pain etched on her friend's face. How could this happen to Hiroko, who had always seemed so in control? Who was so much more experienced, who had contained Ototsuki for several years now with a supposedly clean record? The sudden change in fortunes beggared belief and stopped Kotori in her tracks. Was this her own destiny, now?

No matter. Her friend needed her. She stepped forward, then stumbled to a halt again as Natsumi released a space-time technique of her own and a portal shimmered through the room. The world within the hospital room flickered and shifted before Kotori's eyes, and when her vision next settled, she found the scene quieter and calmer than before. Gone were the shouts and rushing feet outside the door, and gone were the lights of the city sky beyond the windows. But Kotori's focus quickly shifted wholly back to Hiroko's wretched form on the bed. She looked so helpless, so pained, even with the medic at her side trying her best. Her poor, mortal best. Kotori blinked, and her eyes flickered to gold. She could help. Had to help. At Kanade's encouragement she stepped fowards, and a haze of golden energy began to simmer in the air around her, rising from her skin like mist over a lake. Shizuo warned otherwise, a stern look and a stern word, but it was too late to stop now. Pure, unrefined Life energy filled her, bringing the room into sudden and intense clarity. Hiroko was holding something out towards her, and as Kotori stretched out towards it the power of Nolosha surged up and out, reaching for Kotori's friend. If she could just push Nolosha's power into Hiroko, this raw essence of Life, surely it would help! It could ease her pain, restore her body, bring her back to lucidity and secure her fading life! She'd smile again! If only she coul—

The Life energy rebounded like the snapping of a taut rope, splintering beneath the torrent of Ototsuki's chakra coursing out around Hiroko, and lashed back into her. Kotori winced and buckled, staggering back even as arms seized her from behind and hauled her backwards and away. The glow began to subside and she found herself cringing in the corner of the room, staring at the backs of Iwagakure's elite sealing team as they desperately kept on...

"At this point, best thing is to ease the pain." Natsumi's focus was too busy concentrated on containing the outpouring of violent red Genma chakra forming a semi-shroud around Hiroko along with bursting through her skin to assimilate her form into the Genma to really give any instructions to the medic at the moment. The girl would have to trust her own instincts and try her best to either surpass her limits and try something new or continue on with what she knew and was confident in. Her eyes swept over the now-unconscious girl's form in an attempt to think of something, anything, to turn the tide and stabilize the seal. But, it was too late. The girl was too far gone based on the secondary shroud beginning to form over her skin from a mixture of the Genma chakra and her blood. It really would only be minutes now until the Genma took over the girl and then the problem would escalate even further into something they really wouldn't be able to handle.

Natsumi lamented the lack of eyes in the back of her head; she couldn't see what was going on behind her as Shizuo's team finished with the set up of their strange many-eyed sealing pot in the room, only how Shizuo calmly cast a fuuinjutsu to get a more accurate read on Hiroko's vitals across the girls forehead. Her fears were confirmed once Shizuo read over the incoming analysis as the man gave them a sort of loose count down but it was temporarily wiped from her mind as Kotori made an attempt to try to heal Hiroko with the powers over Life granted to her by Nolosha.

The only thing she saw was the golden glimmer of chakra reach out as Kotori's hand came into her peripheral vision and then the golden glimmer was gone. For a moment, it seemed like the Hail Mary would work before the golden glow of chakra rebounded and shattered like solid light then scattered like dust on the wind. The outpouring of Otsukoki's chakra intensified in response to the presence of her sisters chakra and Natsumi immediately felt like the 10 minute timer wasn't accurate. Natsumi felt like she was holding back the ocean from breaking a piece of aquarium glass as sweat poured down her face. How come they always had such poor luck with Jinchuuriki?

The blood red chakra escaping from Hiroko's form taking the shape of a thick mist on the ground began to slowly swirl around the girls prone limp body before reaching a crescendo and exploding outwards. The rush of chakra felt like nothing as it phased through them and the boundaries of the room but looking outside the windows, it was obvious the chakra had taken the form of a rectangular barrier with them in the center of it; a District. The Genma was preparing the scene for its arrival as the barrier keeping it from reality continued to crumble away.

Yoshiko couldn't help but frown as she turned her full attention back to her own task. So she was on her own, everyone had their task and she had to figure out how to do her own to the best of her ability. She knew full well by now that the worst coming to pass was inevitable but... If all she could really do was work to ease the pain then that was what she was going to do. Having an idea she took a quiet breath and focused, a golden aura forming around her. She wasn't sure if it would be too helpful for the exact type of suffering the girl was going through but it was definitely worth trying. With that in mind she directed her aura towards Hiroko, a golden glow slowly beginning to envelop the girl.

She was admittedly getting more than a little worried and a bit unnerved by this entire situation as it escalated further and further but she was doing her best not to let it get to her. She had a job to be doing, this girl in front of her needed her full attention and she was mentally scolding herself over getting even the smallest bit distracted as her palms were once more surrounded by chakra, a large amount of healing energy now being funneled into the girl between her jutsu and her cloak's regenerative properties. She knew that she was going to be absolutely drained by the time this was over but it was more than worth it. There wasn't much she could do aside from this but if it worked even just a little... then that would be more than fine.

Order Falls to Chaos

Kanade growled and jerked her head toward her butterflies, then pointed with a nod at the room. They started to channel and spread a good lathering of calming pheromones throughout. Those who would inhale them would start to feel more calm about the entire situation, not letting fear push them to make drastic or stupid decisions hopefully. That's what Kanade was hoping. Her hair started to superheat itself, her eyes glowing a blue-white from the heat. She grit her teeth and poured all of the excess chakra that she was trying to contain so that it didn't trigger her primordial form into a tether, binding herself to the host's unconscious pain-wracked body, keeping the seal there through a ribbon of pink chakra.

She held her hands over the still living corpse and continued to, even though the tether was enough to keep her strapped to the Enkouten child. If she couldn't save this one, she wondered whether the Enkouten clan would ever forgive her. The calming pheromones helped her, at least, relax into a state of mind where she was able to process all of the changes as they happened with a grim determination. If the genma did make it loose, she would do her best to bind it into the vessel that the other shinobi, who she didn't know the name of, had brought.

Still, it would be best if the thing didn't get loose, so she sat there, channeling her chakra into the seal, silently cursing Tatsuo for taking so long. Where the hells was he? Natsumi had said he was coming right?

Order Falls to Chaos

Shizuo watched with darkened, narrowed eyes as Kotori blatantly disregarded what he had just told her. Perhaps she was simply drawn to the weakening jinchuuriki by a bond that he couldn't possibly understand - not yet, anyway - but it still irked him to see the girl blanketed by a radiant veil of chakra. In any other situation it may have been awe-inspiring. Beautiful, even. But in the middle of a dark realm with a beast of legendary power threatening to break free, the jounin saw her efforts as dangerous. Shoulders tensing, Shizuo looked on as Kotori's Life chakra reached out for the other girl and then suddenly snapped back. As if the chakra had been violently rejected.

With a sigh, Shizuo turned his attention back to his fuuinjutsu array. Despite the strain the women felt, there was no indication that his initial estimate of the time they had left was inaccurate. But time still ticked by, and the group had a little more than six minutes left. Suddenly the Order genma's power raged, releasing a permeating wave of energy that phased painlessly through them. Interesting. Normally the man would feel a rush of energy as his heart spiked, anticipating the culmination of his efforts as they stood on the precipice of chaos. Instead he was calm. Unnaturally so. Unnerved, Shizuo looked around and his gaze momentarily settled on Kanade's butterflies. "Is that you causing that? The feeling of out-of-place calmness?" He glanced toward the scene outside and sucked his teeth at what he saw. "If you don't mind, I'd rather feel what I'm supposed to feel when on the verge of destruction. It helps me think."

The beast's chakra began to surge once more. Natsumi and Kanade could try as they might, but there was no more need to pretend they could keep the genma under control. Shizuo steeled himself, shaking off some of the effects of Kanade's butterflies. In that moment he needed the tension, the almost desperate urge to act before it was too late. The compulsion to save who he could. "Whatever the Tsuchikage had planned, I doubt he'll make it here in time! We do this now!" Understanding what he meant, Shizuo's team immediately began to fly through hand seals. Shizuo positioned himself between the dying jinchuuriki and the jar. The container's eyes widened and shifted rapidly between him and Hiroko, then narrowed greedily. Shizuo outstretched both hands with his palms facing outward. One palm was towards Hiroko, the other at the giant jar that, in the menacing light, appeared more like a golden urn.

An otherworldly groan shook the room. Tiles fell from the ceiling as the vibrations ripped through the building, and cracks began to snake through the walls as the genma's power poured from poor Hiroko. It had to be agonizing. This scene was familiar to Shizuo, heart-wrenchingly so. He blocked memories from coming to the forefront of his mind, instead focusing on the task ahead. The fuuinjutsu, now unmonitored, continued to flash its warnings. Suddenly, the seal started to glow red. The jounin grunted as, once more, the Order genma's power flowed from Hiroko. At that moment he released a wave of his own chakra from his hand. His power rushed Hiroko and engulfed her, wrapping her entire body in a shroud of maroon chakra.

It felt incredible. Terrifying. Through the chakra link he could feel the Order genma raging inside Hiroko, clawing at her seal and slowly chipping away at it from the inside. Shizuo's focus wasn't in reinforcing the seal, but taking advantage of the damage already done to grab a firm hold over the beast. As he did so, the jounin could feel the Teimeigenma's impatience, all because it longed for a new and stronger vessel that could make better use of its talents. The man gritted his teeth, and he braced himself for the challenge ahead.

Man the 10 whole posts is dumb. Since Natsumi and Kanade both know the tech I think it's fair if we knock of some posts, and make it X whole posts from everyone in the thread?

Order Falls to Chaos

Post by Valkier » Sat Jan 06, 2024 5:50 pm

Kotori sank down against the wall in the corner, deposited there by unknown hands as far away from the chaos as she could get within the confines of the pocket dimension. She shook silently and wrapped her arms around her knees, unable to tear her eyes away from the hellish scene before her. She should be among them, helping. She should be able to help. Sudden anger flared up and she bit her lip to restrain it. Anger at the situation, at her friend's condition, at how it had come to this, and most of all at herself for her own inability to help. Why couldn't she tap Nolosha's power to that extent, yet? The anger faded rapidly to fear, and once again she looked at the room through the eyes of someone painfully aware that it might be prophetic of her own future, if she weren't careful.

But this wasn't about her. Not yet. Her friend was there, ahead, writhing, dying, her body being flayed apart from the inside by the rampaging power of Order. The blood-red veil of the genma's chakra erupted out across the room, part of it coalescing into a familiar looking barrier style. It was immediately reminiscent of those she'd seen Hiroko use a few times. Kotori's knuckles were white from built-up tension, eyes wide and mind starting to panic, when Kanade's soothing technique took hold of her. From one breath to the next the young genin transitioned from panic to steadiness. The heart-wrenching scene suddenly became less personal, less severe, and more of a puzzle. The feeling of sadness and inadequacy remained, but distantly, and less the crushing fear and alarm that had been at the forefront of Kotori's emotions.

The fact of the matter was that she was just too weak, and too inexperienced. Compared to the other sources of power in the room—chiefly Ototsuki, but also the collection of varied bannin and jounin on the response and sealing teams—hers was simply inconsequential. But it shouldn't be, not with the veritable ocean of chakra that was Nolosha. She could be, should be, first among those gathered in terms of raw strength. And yet, her efforts had come to naught, her power rebuffed like a fly against a gusting wind. Why? She hung her head and reflected inwards, seeking, desperate. Not too long ago, Nolosha had lectured her about how Life and Death were simply two spinning facets of a coin, and about how neither were beyond Her reach. But she'd been unable to push through Ototsuki's shroud to deliver Hiroko from her torture and end. No longer. Without the overwhelming fear and panic, Kotori's mind instead turned to resolve.

On her first mission with Kotetsu and Setsuna, in the aftermath of their ambush by a violent spirit, she'd sworn to herself that next time she'd be the one doing the saving. She was not there, yet. Here, now, she vowed again to never stop striving for it. To stop shying away from Nolosha, and to shed her fear of the genma's power. She would master it. And would not end up as the next husked form on an operating table.

And so she watched, finally managing to pull her gaze away from the remnants of Hiroko's body and instead to the rest of the room's occupants. Natsumi, Kanade, and Shizuo stood defiant against the beast of Order, working in tandem along with a whole team of Shizuo's subordinates to control the outpouring of power. The man himself stood close, arms outstretched, glowing and looking like he was becoming a conduit for the Teimeigenma itself while sealing it. But it was to Kanade that Kotori's eyes latched, and the pink-hued linking technique that she was again displaying. Nolosha rumbled within, and Kotori listened.

"...a feeble imitation..." the genma whispered to Kotori, and Her voice was laden with scorn. "This shinobi thinks she can tether, but hers is just a fraction of the true ability. The day will soon come, daughter, when you will thoroughly eclipse that misguided attempt at copying my power."

"How? Tell me how!" Kotori's thoughts were simple, but Nolosha understood the desperation in the plea. She hummed in thought, drawing out her answer.

"You will know how when the time comes. Closer, now, than you think."

Watching, waiting, and trying to stay out of the way, Kotori considered those words. She realised that her interactions with Nolosha had become easier, and that she had already become more accepting of the power compared to her first days as a jinchuuriki. Some of that credit went to Hiroko. But here, now, she could feel the suggestion of power from within, like an offered hand just slightly out of reach. She thought she could stretch and connect herself to it, if she wanted, and access that golden nimbus of energy on demand. She hesitated, then refocused on the room. Later. For now she withdrew her senses from Nolosha, and waited with bated breath for the outcome of Hiroko's ordeal...

Order Falls to Chaos

Post by Niro » Tue Mar 05, 2024 11:45 am

The moment the Order jinchuuriki had checked into Iwagakure General Hospital an alert had been sent off to Tatsuo and Tadashi in their offices situated within the Tsuchikage Tower. Tatsuo didn't even have to call for the bannin before the door to his office was knocked upon and then thrust open. The men locked eyes and nodded in solemn understanding. This wasn't the first time nor would it probably be the last, with their luck.

The seal containing the Order Genma was about to fail, if it had not already.

Tadashi kept a list of candidates he updated every time a class graduated from the shinobi academy. It was a list of general shinobi aptitude, academy counselor notes on mental aptitude, and a test of spiritual aptitude. The list ranked each candidate and although Tatsuo hated having to have a list he was glad for its existence right now. The pair immediately set off to the Ryuusei family home, the son of the household being Tadashis number one candidate for this particular Genma among the more recent classes.

The boy's home wasn't important. Tatsuo knocked heavily and constantly on the front door until someone came to it. The look of serious on the instantly recognizable Tsuchikage was enough to silence whoever did answer it. Wasting no rank, he would pull rank and let them know Tokado was needed. Now.

Tokado now accompanying the monk and the Tsuchikage meant they could move to where they were truly needed. Tadashi channeled chakra as he touched a specific anchor given to him by Natsumi. A portal tore itself into existence in front of the trio and as soon as they could, they entered it.

The sight greeting them was out of a horror movie. A barely constrained Genma had taken over the host while the sealing team desperately tried to do their best. Tadashi immediately leapt into action; maroon chains shot forth to assist the others while he placed his hand on Shizuos shoulder to lend him his chakra and assistance in the extraction.

Tatsuo walked Tokado up to Shizuo before also lending his chakra to assist in removing the Phantom Beast. The red chakra shell was visibly draining from Hirokos form now and the vestige of the Genma was beginning to look like a projection instead of a solid being.

"Here's the new host. Let's finish this."

Order Falls to Chaos

Post by Trusted Grader » Tue Mar 05, 2024 12:16 pm

Man what a strange day it was, Tokato had woken up about twenty minutes earlier than the knock, his entire body screamed that something was up but he just couldn't tell what was up, he just felt how his mind was constantly in a fight or flight mode and that there was a hidden calling for him but he just couldn't place his finger on it. So the rasta boy walked around his apartment looking for whatever could have caused this but found nothing that set him off to feel this way, so he tried his best to ignore it.

He was dressed in his blue pajamas but lacked the shirt, for he wasn't expecting company anyway, his sister was out on some mission and his father had recently been arrested for attempting to steal a spirit from Shizuo's office, which was something he tried not to think about, for every time he thought about his father's criminal actions he always got sad. Ignoring the sadness and the fight or flight mode he chose to eat his fruity loops and stare at cartoons to ease his mind, but when the banging started, he sighed and walked up to the door.

"What is it!?" Tokato burst the door open but was shocked to see the Tsukikage and a random monk, he was quick to bow while his mind wandered to his father. What is the Tsukikage doing here? Is it because of my father's actions?, had he been called on a mission? No, it couldn't be, for why was the man so urgent? And why did he just pull the kid out of his home without saying anything? "Ey yo, what the f—" Tokato barely had time to react before he was teleported to another place, and let me tell you, being teleported against your will sucked, in fact had it not been for what he saw then he was pretty certain that he would've puked.

The young boy looked over at the chaos and quickly grabbed his head in confusion, he had seen Hiroko and knew that she was the order host, which made him even more confused. "What is going on here? Why am I here? What... Shizuo? What are you doing—" Tokato had never been so lost in his life before, in fact, the situation was so tense that the boy almost wanted to run away, he had never in his life felt so much pressure in a small area before, he felt how his skin was crawling, the beast was mighty and was already influencing how he felt for he was truly terrified.

Order Falls to Chaos

Post by Kanade » Mon Mar 18, 2024 9:21 pm

Kanade noticed Shizuo's hand seals and recognizing the jutsu she performed the same hand seals. Perhaps the both of them knowing what to do would speed up the process of extraction. From the looks of it the host wasn't going to survive much longer anyhow. As soon as she started to help Shizuo extract the stupid thing, Tatsuo decided to show up. Kanade reached out with her tether and pulled the chakra from her butterflies and anyone else in the room that would help with the technique and fed Shizuo's and her own technique in equal parts. "If you would be so kind Tsuchikage Sama, please lend us a bit of your chakra, the beast is too strong for just us who have been battling it for the past couple of minutes to handle." She said through gritted teeth. Rank didn't really matter at the moment, as long as everyone was helping further the goal of extracting the damned beast. The sealing could happen after they had a short respite, hell, Kanade had learned the technique for it a while ago and wouldn't mind helping out with it. That was if they lived.

The surge of chakra from the Genma blew past her and she drained most of the chakra from the swarm. Unable to maintain the jutsu, they floated near the ceiling or clung to it with all their might, the wave had dispersed their pheromones. Feeling the full brunt of the panic welling up in her throat she grit her teeth and Kanade's hair turned from a fiery orange to a bright yellowish white, her body started to put out heat as she struggled with the beast. It was a reflexive form, meant to hit when her fight or flight was at its peak. She looked up with pale, bright blue eyes, like the flame at the end of a welder's torch. She studied the face of the Jinchuuriki that was held on the table, what an awful fate to befall anyone, let alone someone so young.

Yeah, it's a bit dumb that it takes 10 posts, I am assuming that it means 10 posts (not per person?) that would make a bit more sense, and Kanade using the technique as well should halve it. Since it's a social we could also rule of cool the post length.
