Kashou unknowingly had a had placed on the hilt of his sword, the blade contained in a black and red sheath. It was one of the many sheaths that his father had. He had a large variety of unique weapons and specially inscribed swords. The sort of creatures that Kashou and his father hunted sometimes required something a bit extra.

"I don't... normally ask for something like this." Kashou was an awkward boy. His lack of a social life certainly didn't help either. With his father missing and mother gone, he had even less people to communicate with. Not his father was ever a particularly great at holding positive conversations.

The genin's fingers tapped against his hilt, quite aware of the kind of fight that was about to happen, eying his opponent. Well, his opponent only if he still wanted to go through with this. The man before him was a couple years his elder and a chuunin. Kashou couldn't imagine he'd be much of a challenge for the man, a warm up at best. Kashou was relying on his kindness.

"You're good with a blade, Kurado, and... well I'm just not. Not really." Kashou had briefly chatted with Kurado within the walls of Kumo. Kashou had been aware of Kurado as of a weeks prior. He had seen him sparring, and the way he carried his sword was admirable. It was all the courage Kashou could muster to ask him for some pointers, Kurado had pointed him to just outside Kumo's walls. Plenty of trees and boulders to make an interesting battleground. Kurado must have used this spot frequently, Kashou didn't bother to check around at the trees for scratch marks.

Kashou kept his back tight, looking ahead at the man. "I don't have many opportunities to train with someone." Not since his father left. "So I really appreciate this. I'd rather not have my first experience with a better swordsman and shinobi be against someone without mercy." Kashou didn't give himself enough credit, but there was a very real truth in his words. The genin had been in many fights, a few close calls too, but he had to be better. And doing it alone just wasn't fruitful.

"So, what do you say?" Kashou tilted his head, hand tightening on his blade.

"No problem, man. It's my job to help those who want to get stronger obtain that goal." The read haired chuunin wore a confident smile as he ran his left hand through his hair to get it out of his eyes. Only for a moment though, because pretty soon after that the hair fell right back down across his face again. The boy made valid points and seemed to generally have a good head on his shoulders. He was in good shape and, since he actively sought out Kurado for this training session, must be willing to learn.

Kashou was standing about five yards in front him, and looked to be ready to get started in a moments notice. Sure, he could ask the boy questions and give him some pointers on basic things. But in his experience one learned best by doing, not talking. However, one thing Kurado didn't like was how doubtful the genin was of his own abilities. One of the most important attributes of a swordsman is confidence. One's confidence could cause someone to falter for a split second, and that was all that was needed to end a fight. Hesitation was the swordsman worst enemy. So Kurado would use this spar to not only hone the boys prowess with the blade, but in the process nurse his confidence as well.

Placing his hand on he hilt of his blade, he drew it slowly while keeping his left hand tucked into the waist of his pants, his thumb hanging over the side. He found this was a more "ready" position, yet still appeared relaxed. It threw enemies off a little to see their opponent look so nonchalant. Once drawn, he leaned the blade back with the dull side resting against his shoulder area. "I'm ready whenever you are. Let's see what you've got."

He never took his eyes off of Kashou, and would be ready to react if Kashou did in fact make the first move.

Kashou stood still as Kurado spoke. He kept his eyes on the older man, expecting him to suddenly jerk forward or try something. It seemed against his nature, but Kashou was anxious. It made sense that the genin's nerves were all on edge. He had come across more sinister things than a friendly swordsman willing to spar. For some reason, Kashou couldn't keep his usual cool. Maybe it was the anticipation. Just the fact that he knew he wasn't going to be the victor of the fight. He didn't want to embarrass himself either, make a fool in front of a respectable chuunin. It was this sort of rapid thought process that caused Kashou's head to spin.

His eyebrows lowered, watching Kurado slip a hand into his pocket. At first he thought maybe he was retrieving something, but then it became clear that this was he battle stance. Kashou couldn't tell if Kurado was taunting him, not taking him seriously, or this was his usual stance.

"Okay, sure," Kashou replied. He debated what sort of an approach he would take, but nothing would really matter. Kurado would counter anything, given how direct of a first attack this was of course going to be.

Kashou darted forward, left hand on his hilt and right hand gripping his sheath. He rushed Kurado into a straight line, up until he was just about to be within swinging distance of the man. Then, Kashou bounced a bit to the right, skidded to stop with his left foot forward, and yanked his sword from its holster while keeping his body low. Kashou swung upward from Kurado's waist to his neck.

Kashou came forth with what Kurado anticipated to be an obvious frontal attack. He watched nothing more than the feet of the boy, keeping his eyes low. It was known to any experienced swordsman that the feet betray all other movements and telegraph the next move. Kurado only reacted once the genin bounced to to the right. A fluid motion brought Kurado's sword downward to meet his partners blade on it's accent, never giving it the opportunity to make contact with him. Not only that, but the speed he made contact with Kashou's blade sent the younger boys blade backwards a bit from the impact, creating a small opening.

Pivoting on his heel, Kurado made a quick compact turn, lowering himself and bending at the knee slightly as he did so. As he came back around, he attempted to strike Kashou in the chest with the open palm of his free hand, sending him sliding him back a few feet if contact was made. He'd have stopped spinning after he made contact, getting back into his nonchalant stance he generally used when sparring.

He noted that the genin wasn't necessarily fast, but had some shiftiness to him. He was able to change direction a little quicker than Kurado'd anticipated right before his attack. Perhaps this could be one of his strengths when attempting to develop his own unique fighting style, similar to Kurado's Whirling Steel Style that he'd developed. Kurado made a mental note to bring this up once they reached a lulling point in the spar, along with a few tips to give the boy.

He intended on going a little bit easier on the boy from here on out, slowly letting him get closer and closer to landing hits. It would give the illusion of his work paying off, hopefully instilling this mentality in the genin that would last his entire shinobi career. And who knows, maybe he would land a few good shots without Kurado having to pull his punches.

"That's not all, is it?" A little taunting and trash talk surely would serve to light a bit of a fire under his rump.

Kashou barely saw it happen. He swung upward with all his might, but the ease in which Kurado countered surprised him. The younger shinobi thought for sure that he'd at least get some sort of edge. It was only when Kurado knocked the blade away that he realized swinging with as much strength as he could muster was not the best approach.

"Erck...!" Kashou managed to cough as he stumbled back, grip loosening on his sword as he tried to regain himself. Kurado had knocked the wind out of him and didn't even move from his spot. Kashou felt the wind back in his lungs again as he used his free hand to wipe some of the spit from his mouth.

A scowl formed on Kashou's face. He was back at square one, any momentum he gained was swatted away when Kurado knocked him back. The genin was formulating a plan in his mind now. If he could stay back and land lighter blows, but in a fast pace, perhaps he could gain some sort of advantage or get an opening.

"If that was the best I could do, I swear I would have gone back to the academy." A breath in, and Kashou lunged forward to Kurado's position.

Keeping a foot further back than before, Kashou kept a firm grip on his sword with his left hand and his right hand off to his side for balance. Kashou threw a swing upward at Kurado's right side, but with half as much force as before. If Kurado deflected it, Kashou would retain his ground and thrust his sword directly at Kurado's chest. If Kurado tried to do another palm strike, Kashou would attempt to use his free hand to knock it away. By keeping a bit further back and not using as much muscle in his attacks, Kashou would not be as easily thrown off balance and could much more easily counter. He wasn't expecting the fight to get much easier, though.

OOCShow
I c/p'd a copy of the jutsu I used last time into my previous post for reference.
The kid had spunk, which was always a welcome addition on the battlefield. Kurado hated all those naysayers who claimed A calm mind and clear thoughts are best on the battlefield; emotion just gets in the way/" He was a strong believer that emotion was necessary and could carry a slightly below average fighter to an above average one off of their sheer will to fight. Rather it be competition, hatred, love, or fear, emotion had always proved to help Kurado. Now, that wasn't to say that clear thinking wasn't necessary, but a balance was needed. One couldn't be on the extremes of the scale on either side and hope to prevail.

The kid was two meters away, which was the distance Kurado pushed him. So it gave him ample time to react. However, he figured he'd go easy on him, allow him to land a few close calls. This was a balancing act as well. He couldn't allow the boy to do so well that he felt he was better than he was. But he couldn't beat him down so bad that he lost all confidence either. The word would be nurturing to describe his philosophy on training young swordsmen. The same with his father had taught him. As the genin neared, he transitioned into his base stance and prepared to parry the boys next move.

A strike to the side as throw, which Kurado parried with ease. From the impact caused on his handle, he could tell the boy had dialed back his power a bit. "..So he's learning already. This could be more fun than I thought.." Kurado used this knowledge to prepare himself mentally for a counter attack, which was thrown right at his chest. Given the difference in the two's speed, Kurado had no problem twisting at the waist, his eyes following the blade as it pass'ed him by, missing his torso by inches and falling under his arm that was raised above it. He used this momentum to continue into a spin, coming around and attempting to strike the boy into the back with the bottom of his sword hilt. This wouldn't knock him back much, but would stagger him a bit.

"Erk!" Kashou wasn't quick enough, or at least that's what it seemed like. Kurado was more skilled, and certainly quicker than him, but if Kashou could focus and handle a blade better, maybe it wouldn't matter. Easier said than done, as Kashou learned after Kurado slammed the hilt of his blade into the younger boy's back.

He staggered forward, stopping himself with his right foot. It happened again, he lost momentum. He had to keep with it, though. If he let himself stop after every hit from Kurado, he wasn't going to gain any sort of advantage. It was frustrating, to say the least.

Kashou turned on his heel, flipping the hilt of his sword in his left hand. The blade pointed downward now, the genin holding it like a dagger. With his other hand, Kashou reached into his tunic and tossed three kunai at Kurado. It had to be more than straight swordplay now. It was what Kashou wanted to train, sure, but he needed something to gain an edge. More than that, in a real fight an opponent wouldn't be using just their sword. This was practice for that. Kunai now sailing for Kurado's chest, Kashou leaped forward, closing the gap between the two of them. Kashou delivered an upward slash from Kurado's lower right side to his left arm. Again, Kashou dialed back his strength to lessen any recoil from a parry.

The kunai sailed towards him with good grouping and accuracy. They weren't thrown with amazing strength though. But that wasn't important. What was important was that Kashou seemed to be adapting with each missed attack. But it wasn't like he was just throwing stuff at the wall to see what stuck, he was actually going through a natural progression of tactics that he thought would get him the upper hand, or otherwise reveal more about his opponent. Kurado knew all too well this sort of thing. It was exactly what he'd done against his father, the man who taught Kurado and his brother all the fundamentals of swordplay. Trail and error was one of the best ways to figure out what worked, but it was the only way to figure out why it worked. The latter being a lesson best learned first hand instead of having someone tell it to you.

As the kunai got closer, Kurado readied his blade. He swung out with his blade, knocking the projectiles towards the ground a few feet around him. "Mixing it up, huh? I like it." The boy's leap threw him off a bit since he arrived before Kurado had expected him to. However, his reflexes were much more refined than the genin's were. He raised his sword up to parry the attack, hoping to throw the young man off of his center of gravity. "..If he can recover from this and keep attacking, it's probably time for me to let him land a few hits. I need to reenforce that technique as a positive one.." He waited to see what the boy would do, so he could accurately decide how to proceed.

This is quite a simple technique, requiring Kurado to simply lash out and attempt to bat down a projectile out of mid air into the ground with his sword. If Kurado has a greater taijutsu stat to the opponents strength thrown, it’s successful.

Klink!

Kurado's sword clashed against Kashou's, tossing it back it into the air as the boy maintained his grip on the hilt. Rather than continue the assault, Kashou leaped to the left. He slid along the ground, tossing his sword straight up into the air as the boy formed hand seals. "Good, you'll like this, too." He said, keeping the snark in his tone strong.

As the sword came back down, Kashou snatched it from midair with his left hand. His right hand swept over the blade from the hilt to the tip, covering the top of his sword in flames as he did so. Kashou grabbed his left wrist, lowering his eyebrows as he watched Kurado's reaction. Kashou hadn't been totally honest with Kurado, he didn't want just a straight swordplay match. He thought that would be... inadequate. If Kashou was going to be trained in the art of sword play, he wanted Kurado to pull all the punches. Uh, so to speak. Two real swordsmen wouldn't be fighting with just their swords, they'd use every skill in their toolbox. He hoped Kurado would do the same.

"Are you actually going to try? Come on. My father never held back when he trained me, he knew what he took to train a proper warrior." Kashou's father was quite... aggressive in his methods. While he didn't train Kashou much in the art of blade wielding, Kashou certainly knew how to handle any environment. And he doubted Kurado knew anything the things that went bump in the night. "If I wanted something that would just stand there and deflect, I would have fought a training mannequin." They'd probably rotate faster and hit back harder, too.

Kashou dashed forward again, approaching Kurado from his right side. The genin gave a short hop, swinging his blade from left to right with both hands, the fire burning brightly from the tip of his sword. It threatened to cut and burn the right portion of Kurado's torso.
