[Raikage's Office] The Assigning of Missions

OOCShow
I'm all about immersive RP. So, if you want, I'll make up a mission for you OR ASSIGN a mission of your desire IC to you. Because it's so much more enjoyable for plot and stuff'
A top one of the mountains that made up Kumogakure sat an artificial mountain top, a feat of engineering not seen anywhere else within the world. Within was a cavern that held an artificially create biome and Kumogakure's only park. At it's center a giant black steel spire which gave off an electric pulse showering the cavern in an ethereal light. This was the monument to the strength of Kumogakure's people, a symbol of their everlasting spark, and the office of the village's leader, the Raikage.

Today was special- well, relatively. Well not actually, for you see, the life of a shinobi was a life of very little rest. Today the shinobi of Kumogakure who were not already currently assigned missions would stand before their Lord Raikage and his panel of Jounin for the assignment of their next mission. Based on their ranks and skill sets, the panel would field the most appropriate mission to the team before them. For the most part it wouldn't be the most exciting day for the panel but it was an essential process for the village to continue operating smoothly.

The sound of bells and clock work announced the time to the whole village.

1 O'Clock Hayate thought as he released a long and drawn out yawn, his hand instinctively rising to his mouth to cover it. To his left sat two Jounin. Both wore pretty much the typical outfit. The taller of the two Tatsuyuki wore sun glasses, and seemingly had a cool expression. He was an extremely strong strategist. To his side was Kenta, who on the other hand had wide open eyes- nearly owl like and giving off serious vibes at all times. Kenta was known for his extremely strong taijutsu. To Hayate's other side was two women Kaoru and Yin. Both seemingly never made eye contact... rumour had it they had beef over some man. Yin was a skilled Genjutsu user and Kaoru... Kaoru worked in the academy, so she knew the younger generations well.

Regardless, the entire panel was rather board as the awaited the next group of shinobi.

[Raikage's Office] The Assigning of Missions

Post by WrightJustice » Thu Feb 18, 2016 6:18 am

Tobikiri was pretty excited today not particularly because he was queuing up to get a new mission assignment but because he would get to see the new Raikage up close for the first time, for he had no clear view of the man during his ceremony but a glimpse of the man's white hair and dark skin reminded him of himself and other Arashiyama clan members, which was all very interesting to think about.

It was 1 o'clock by the time the genin was ushered into the Raikage office but it wasn't quite as cool as he was expecting; the air was dry and stale as the stench of boredom filled the room, each face of the council, even the Raikage's was as dead as can be or perhaps it was the Raikage's overpowering boredom making it seem as such for it drew away from owl like eyes and sunglasses.

Tobikiri's father always made admin work seem so interesting and fun yet these people just looked ready to move things along as fast as possible, well, except perhaps the guy in the sunglasses who made it difficult to discern what he was thinking. Whatever the case the genin's eyes quickly fixated on Hayate-sama after a quick glance around the room, deeply analysing this new leader of his to see if he was worthy of being named as cool but it was kind of difficult with him just sat behind a desk as he was.
"Hi I-" he began to speak only to be interrupted by more people being ushered into the room alongside him.

The boy glanced over to the door and lent to to his left slightly with his arms crossed as he began wondering what was happening, never having been on a team mission as of yet which really sparked is interested.
"A team?" he questioned in his thoughts, still appearing calm and accepting to the possibility as he watched to see exactly who was being sent in.

[Raikage's Office] The Assigning of Missions

The young genin had been awake for quite some time that day, unable to sleep soundly due to his sheer excitement that he was finally going to get assigned to a mission and the fact that he was going to see the villages leader up close...The Raikage. As Isamu walked he couldn't help but feel a confident grin forming on his face at the thought as he increased his pacing. His heart rate was increasing and his otherwise vigilant eyes over the streets had devolved into complete an utter tunnel-vision towards the gigantic spire.
Not wasting any more time, he increased from a powerwalk to a quick jog to clear the rest of the distance, eventually entering the building. His overall stance changed to a much more formal one as he asked one of the coworkers where the Raikage's office was in the building in a hasty manner, signalling his rush to get there in time.

After being told the way, he gave a quick nod and made his way towards the office, his head held high as he radiated with confidence and respect. While on his way the young Genin heard the bells sound throughout the village, once reaching his ears quickly reminding him that he was almost running late. [Dammit, really gonna be late for my first mission!?] The boy thought as he increased his pacing. Finally reaching the office, he entered silently, not paying attention to anything or anyone besides the Raikage and his group of Shinobi....Or, he would have, but someone was already there...A white haired boy, whose appearance slightly resembled the Raikage in his eyes. His heart rate increased further as he was faced with the Raikage, all sorts of thoughts running through his head. One was more apparent than the others though... [Group mission huh? Don't know why I didn't see that coming...] He thought as he stood beside the other Genin in the most formal and serious stance he could muster, trying not to sweat out of nervousness due to the upper Shinobi and the Raikage's bored and somewhat intimidating looks on their faces.

Saeko was nervous as hell. The bells had rung just as she'd arrived right after her first future teammate, and a couple seconds before her other teammate, who looked as though he had just been sprinting like a madman, entered.

Saeko was not having the easiest time staying calm. She was currently being scrutinized by the white-haired boy, possibly the Raikage and his associates (Guards? Helpers? Secretaries?). She decided to stand on the right side of the boy, shifting uncomfortably. She should have worn her mask.

Rather than openly stare, Saeko cast her gaze at her feet, not sure exactly how to react to the presence of her leader. 'Team mission team mission gotta do good can't fail who are my new teammates?'

Her panicked mind was quickly quelled by the intense feeling of boredom emanating from the entire group of shinobi- except for maybe from herself and her new teammates. Saeko pictured them standing there for the whole morning and thought she could understand.

'Let's get this party started!'

[Raikage's Office] The Assigning of Missions

Post by Kabu » Thu Feb 18, 2016 2:25 pm

For the first time in ages Eiko found herself unaccompanied as she made her way towards the Raikage's tower, having received news that she was to be accompanying a group of genin on a mission as their superior. Admittedly thanks to support from her friends she had been steadily regaining her confidence the thought of being sent out on her first assignment in months made her more than a little nervous, especially as she would have the safety of a group of Genin in her hands. More than that though she had to wonder why her of all people? She was out of shape and her condition didn't exactly make her the most suitable of candidates.

Letting out a quiet sigh she opened the tower doors and made her way towards the Raikage's office, hesitating as she reached towards the doorknob. How was she supposed to greet Hayate now that he was Raikage? Could she still treat him as her father or was she supposed to be absolutely professional? They actually hadn't much of a chance to get together since the ceremony and she was only now realizing that she had no idea what she was supposed to do. She knew though that worrying about it would do no good. Taking a deep breath she steeled herself and entered the room, taking just a few steps forward as she didn't want to bump into anyone or anything as she hadn't had a chance to memorize the room yet. "Fuyuki Eiko, reporting for duty." she spoke up, announcing her presence.

Here goes nothing.

[Raikage's Office] The Assigning of Missions

Hayate was nearing exhaustion, slowly slipping away and falling asleep on the arm he had perched his head on. Before he could fully lose himself he heard shuffling and the sounds of people coming in through the door. Jolting upright he quickly straightened his hat before taking in a deep breath and surveying the people who had just shuffled into his office. While he had surveyed their files earlier, he merely knew the three genin by name. A quick looker over confirmed what he had read and made him feel slightly at ease about the choice he had made. Then of course, their leader for the mission... their leader was his daughter. As much as he would have liked to pretend he knew her, they'd been apart for some time and truthfully he had no clue where she was beyond the files he read. He really was a shit father. His initial inspections done, he stood up from his seat and approached the team.

First, he approached Eiko. He didn't know what she was capable of, but he did know that she'd been in a slump lately. Her condition along with... what he put her through... did not make for an easy to live life. As father of the year... he figured giving her a chance to do something could potentially help her... So while this mission did need doing, and he did want these genin on it, in truth she was the wildcard. It could have been any jounin in the village. He simply gave her a hug, not a dramatic or long one, but a short one. When he finished, he turned to the genin.

"In case you have the intelligence of a rock, which your shocked expressions tell me otherwise fortunately... this is indeed a team mission." His posture relaxed and he lowered himself a little so he was on par with each of the genin, pacing back and forth between them and locking eyes with each of them as he did so. His face displayed a skeptic look, but after a bit, changed to a grin. One of the jounins laughed- Kenta it was. In a hush undertone he said "looks like Hayaboy them-" to which Hayate held a hand up towards him that motioned just you wait yet and the man held his tongue from further comments.

"Kaoru assures me you're all good shinobi in your own right. But my question is if that'll transfer into working as team. It's very important for Chuunin to be able to quickly be put into any team at a moments notice and work as if they knew their teammates from birth, wouldn'ya say?" He asked the genin, still pacing between them.

[Raikage's Office] The Assigning of Missions

Whilst leaning to one side with intrigue, Tobikiri first noticed an oddly dressed genin male silently step in with clear signs of having been in a rush to arrive. This other genin was only slightly shorter than he was, though it could be difficult to tell with his own stance but it soon became more apparently as a female genin of the same height to the oddity swiftly entered right behind the guy.
The girl seemed pretty nervous and unsure what to do exactly and it probably didn't help that the Arashiyama clansman was watching her move over towards them, as such he decided to look away but before he could the door swung open once again and an older woman burst in and immediately announced herself.
"Our sensei for the mission? uh?" he calmly questioned in his mind.

It was very clear that Tobikiri was the most at ease of the group, even this Fuyuki Eiko seemed particularly flustered whilst he was just stood there in an easygoing manner with an odd almost slouching like stance. Nontheless it didn't take long for the Raikage to finally jump up out of his seat and switch out of the boredom once everyone had finally arrived, though, surprisingly, the man first approached this special jounin woman like she was one of his own.
"He knows her..." he thought to himself once more
"... Sooo, COOL!" his thought flared up with a tinge of excitement, lighting up his eyes and putting a light smirk on his face as he shifted his weight but remained calm about the situation.

Once the boy was done shifting, Hayate had released his hug and suddenly became serious and paced amongst the genin and looked deeply in each of their eyes whilst bending down to be on their level in an intimidating fashion as he went on to talk about why they where all here though it didn't particularly phase Tobikiri especially when the jounin in the back started snickering amongst themselves.
"Foursuure Raikage, er, sama" replied Tobikiri in an unbelievable easygoing fashion, almost dropping the sama due to the friendliness of of tone as if everyone was already a group of pals.

A final opening of the door announced the arrival of yet another person of their little team. Saeko swiveled around, wondering who it was. She was greeted with the appearance of a young woman who couldn't have been that much older than she herself.

A rustle on the other side of her caused her to twist around again, this time to watch the Raikage stand, walk past the three genin standing there, and hug the woman. She looked away from the two, feeling like she was intruding on something very personal.

'He must know her from someplace, to be able to hug her without getting any strange looks,' Saeko rationalized, swallowing as the man locked eyes with each of the genin. She listened to his little speech carefully, nodding before she realized that this was an authority figure and she should probably answer with some sort of words.

Saeko barely squeaked out, "Y-yes, Raikage-sama." At some point she'd started holding her breath and hadn't realized it until she actually had to speak.

I HAVE RETURNED!
Two genin face to face with the leader of their own village...Isamu felt...Strange, a feeling he hadn't felt in a long time. A weird mixture of anxiety, excitement and adrenaline rushing through him. This was the first time he was ever face-to-face with their own Raikage, and it certainly got his blood flowing. Not wanting to show any signs of disrespect he held his overly-serious stance as the next member of what seemed to be their team for this mission walked in, something he noted from the footsteps behind him.
As this person stood in line with them, he shot his eyes to the side quickly for a fast inspection. A girl, red hair...Nothing special or noteworthy about her in Isamu's eyes, just a genin, like him.
As his eyes returned to face the Raikage he started to get lost in thoughts about what kind of mission he was going to be sent on with these two others, his mind wandering off completely as he continued to stare forward.
His thoughts however were quickly cut off by more footsteps...A 4th person? Would this be another genin? Or maybe...

As Isamu thought, this woman appeared to be much older than the rest of the team, and Isamu already figured she was going to be leading them. Fuyuki Eiko was her name...Isamu noted it, he wasn't looking forward to forgetting the name of their leader that easily.
The boy's attention peaked as the Raikage finally got up from his chair and walked towards the older woman, what was he doing? Handing out the mission scroll?...
[...Wait, what?] The boy thought, utterly confused by the sudden hug exchanged between the two...Did they know eachother? Why would the Raikage be so informal towards his Shinobi? Could it be that the Raikage didn't take his job seriously anyway...? No...There's no way!

As Isamu's thoughts ran on and on about this...Situation, it seemed the Raikage himself approached the Genin and asked them something in a fairly friendly and laid-back tone. Maybe he was just always like this, so friendly? It was all very confusing and weird for the young genin, who always thought Shinobi (Especially high-ranking ones) were extremely serious about their job, it threw him off to witness this.
In fact, it threw him off so much that he didn't even notice that he didn't anwser the question yet, damn it! [You dumb shit keep it together! This is the RAIKAGE!] He thought to himself as he retook his serious stance.

''Ofcourse, Raikage-sama, sir...!'' He said, trying to sound as confident as possible, but it was quite obvious that he was trying to hold back his nervousness and was trying his absolute hardest to keep the serious attitude going, his voice even cracking as he responded.

[Shit- That wasn't convincing at all...Damn it!] He thought to himself, immediately regretting his overall awkward performance.

Eiko blinked in surprise, caught off guard by the sudden hug, though she still took the opportunity to return it even as brief as it was. After that she simply stood off to the side, listening to Hayate and the Genin. She still wasn't sure why exactly she had been chosen to lead this mission but she wasn't about to start complaining so it was best to just go with it and find out just what exacty she would have to work with in terms of personality.

As Hayate spoke to the group and they each responded to him in turn she couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow, two of them seemed to be nervous wrecks, understandable as they were standing before the leader of their village on top of being inexperienced, but interestingly enough the third was either confident or simply easygoing, she had to assume the latter based on her own experiences. Overall from what she could guess from this short interaction it seemed that at the very least they may be able to get along and complete this mission easily enough, and who knew, maybe it could end up being fun too. She was actually starting to look forward to this.

[Raikage's Office] The Assigning of Missions

Hmph. Smarter than rocks, but unfortunately just as stiff as them. Hayate thought as he brought his hand to the back of his head, scratching it. By now he had been smiling with both his eyes and his stupid grin. Maybe I terrify them? Ha, suck it Banri! His antics aside, he really had put thought into the collection of the team. For one, Eiko-chan needed something like this to keep her busy... and let her prove her worth to herself and prove that her existence still mattered. Then all the genin, each with their own problems, did in fact need a GDS... and the D stood for development. Which you don't get without doing things.

"Well I'm glad we agree." he said pausing from his pacing to return to his desk, leaning upon it gently and grabbing a folder. He'd nod to the rest of the group, then toss the folder to Eiko. "Enclosed is notes for your mission and recommended preparation steps based on intel we've gathered. Gently he pushed himself off the desk and walked back towards the group, returning to his pacing.

"In the capitol city of the Hojo province is an old scholar named Gensui who knows a great deal about chakra, despite not being a shinobi. For obvious reasons he's well sought after by many parties in this country because of his knowledge... however during the war he left Hojo for safe haven in the mountains and seemingly disappeared. Hayate said putting his hand to his forehead.

"Funny how when you need someone they always disappear..." lowering his hand he continued back on. "We don't believe he's been kidnapped or anything, but this man and some of his research cannot get into the wrong hands. So, we need to find him first." Hayate said motioning to the group.

"This mission is more like a series of missions... and it could potentially take months, making it a long term assignment. The only rule is if there is trouble you must absolutely not engage. You are merely getting information and tracking Gensui's where abouts."

Tobikiri remained standing in his calm demeanour with his arms folded as he listened to each reply to the Raikage and then what the Raikage had to finally say about their mission, no longer paying much attention to the nervousness of his other team mates though it was clear Hayate was pleased he freaked them out a bit.

As their village leader described the problem at hand it certainly sounded different to any ordinary genin mission; no chasing pet cats, basic chores or other simple task. However it also didn't venture to far from the norm and sounded extra boring, especially when it was stated they were forbidden from engaging and had to simply find out where this old man was, which meat no showing off how cool his clan moves where or seeing what kinds of moves his team mates had.

Though, no matter how boring the mission seemed, Tobikiri was not one for complaints and would roll with whatever they had to do but one problem stuck to his mind was that he had zero clue about tracking even the basic of animals so to track down a person presented as quite the problem to him.
"Not sure how we will end up doing this but whatever" he thought to himself with a slight but calm doubt.
Not being one to objectify against a given task or having any critical questions that won't be solved by strategic planning later on, Tobikiri simply glanced around the room to see if they where done or if more had to be said by someone else.

[Some mission...How the heck are we gonna track someone like that?]

The boy was quite...reluctant to even continue once he heard what the mission would be about, it seemed extremely drawn out and way too complicated for starting Shinobi like them, but seeing as this was going to be his first mission and essentially his first chance to prove to the Raikage himself that he was a dedicated and good Shinobi.

No matter how boring the mission, he had to keep his head up.

There had to be SOME reason why the Raikage chose them specifically to take on this mission, right? Even if Isamu's sensory and tracking skills were next to none, he knew he oughta have some use in this mission...Even if he wasn't allowed to engage in combat, his strongest point.

He awkwardly shifted his balance between each of his legs as he gazed towards the one who would be leading their mission, wondering if she had any ideas on how to track down the old man, which, seeing as she was already trusted by the Raikage himself to lead the mission, he didn't doubt all that much.

Not being the type to speak out against someone of such status, he held back his questions for when they would finally start their mission and form a plan. Simply waiting now for the Raikage to send them away or for their leader to take them with her.

Saeko was so excited! In a way, she thought, this mission was good training for an aspiring hunter-nin such as herself. Tracking down an errant man who happened to be very important to Kumogakure? No problemo.

She balanced on the balls of her feet and bounced up and down once or twice before catching herself and forcing her body to stay still. No matter how pumped she was for this mission (or even series of missions!!!) she had to remain respectful and composed.

But it was just so hard...

Saeko contemplated why the man, Gensi? Guensi? Guensui? She already couldn't remember. Anyway, the curious fact remained that he had, despite supposedly knowing so much about chakra, had not chosen to become a shinobi, not even a medic-nin nor a fuuinjutsu master. Not even an academy teacher. Surely there must have been a reason for his not becoming a shinobi. The girl resolved to ask him when they found him. (If never even crossed her mind.)
