Awoken from the Nightmare

Post by Nafan~ » Sun Mar 05, 2017 2:55 am

Senji wiped his palms on his jacket again. There was nothing there, no sweat nor dirt, but it helped calm him. At least a little bit. He was making his way through the streets of Kumogakure toward a home he had heard much about, but never seen. It had been some time since he had spoken with the one who lived there. They had not left on the best of terms last time.

The magician was, of course, on his way to see his friend Nukegara, Sou. Only now much had changed. As Senji had recently been informed, Sou was a jinchuuriki now. And of a beast that was in a way, Senji's father. Their last meeting had ended with the younger boy going quite seriously insane and assaulting his friend. Hopefully, Sou would still want to see him. Senji gritted his teeth as the thought crossed his mind. He had to understand, surely.

With another nervous pat down of his coat, the magician traversed the last few steps to the front door of the Nukegara residence. With a swift rap on the door he settled down to wait, thankful for the moment to settle his pounding heart and anxious breath. It had been months since that day, and more had changed than the now white hair that Senji found himself fingering nervously.

The door began to open, and Senji swiftly thrust his fidgeting hands down by his side. His breath caught in his throat as he watched the gap between door and wall slowly widen. He had to forcefully swallow the lump in his throat before he could bare to focus his eyes once more on the painfully slow moving portal. It took only an instant, but that instant was so packed full of nerves that it was almost an eternity. And in a moment, after he swallowed his anxiety, Senji was the very picture of calm. Just as the man in black had taught him.

"Tululila, Talila Tulula."

Awoken from the Nightmare

It was rare that Sou was at his home these days, his training towards mastering the Genma he held often led to days or even weeks in solitude where if he lost control he wasn't likely to hurt anyone before he could wrest the beast back into its cage. Those rare moments were moments that Sou treasured however; the secrecy behind everything meant only his parents knew the reason for his long periods of absence from the household. His sisters and brother were fed stories of boring missions or guard duty, though he doubted any of them believed him. Despite their disbelief, they treated him no differently and Sou relished in the normalcy of it all.

His ears twitched when the sharp rap of the front door echoed through the house. Pushing away from the kitchen table, he smiled and shook his head at his mother in the kitchen and made to answer the door. The Nukegara household rarely got visitors and when they did, at least nowadays, it was someone looking for him to drag him off to see whoever wanted to check on the precious Jinchuuriki. Holding back the sigh, he ran his fingers though his hair and plastered a false smile on his face before opening the door.

'Mine.'

The smile faltered as fast as he had created it. His eyes widened in shock at the young man standing before him before narrowing just as fast, his jaw setting into a hard line. "Not here." His voice was a hard whisper before he turned and affected a pleasant tone and shouted into the house. "Be back in a few." Stepping outside, he tugged the door shut behind him and fought to keep his fingers from twitching; the last time he had seen Ryakketsu Senji the boy had gone insane and tried to kill him.

If that was going to happen again, he preferred not to have his home within the blast radius.

Jerking his head, Sou leapt up onto a nearby rooftop and started jogging towards a part of the district that was relatively uninhabited. Kumo was filling up but there were still dead zones if you knew where to look. Sou didn't say a word during the entire trip, trying to work out exactly what it was Senji wanted. To finish the job? To apologize? To drag him off for someone else completely unrelated to their personal relationship? His fist clenched slightly, he had no idea and that was what worried him. He had heard nothing of the teenager after Banri's black ops had taken him down that day.

'You should claim him. He belongs to us by right. I can feel my chakra within him, it is in his very essence.'

'The hell does that even mean?'

Silence greeted him and Sou did let out a harsh sigh. Coming to a halt when they reached a relatively safe spot if a brawl was going to break out, Sou spun on his heel and faced Senji, arms folding defensively across his chest. "I was worried Banri might have killed you after what happened. I'm… glad to see he didn't." And he was, in a way. No matter what Senji may have done, the teen was his friend once. "What is it you want, then?"
