Awoken from the Nightmare

Senji wiped his palms on his jacket again. There was nothing there, no sweat nor dirt, but it helped calm him. At least a little bit. He was making his way through the streets of Kumogakure toward a home he had heard much about, but never seen. It had been some time since he had spoken with the one who lived there. They had not left on the best of terms last time.
The magician was, of course, on his way to see his friend Nukegara, Sou. Only now much had changed. As Senji had recently been informed, Sou was a jinchuuriki now. And of a beast that was in a way, Senji's father. Their last meeting had ended with the younger boy going quite seriously insane and assaulting his friend. Hopefully, Sou would still want to see him. Senji gritted his teeth as the thought crossed his mind. He had to understand, surely.
With another nervous pat down of his coat, the magician traversed the last few steps to the front door of the Nukegara residence. With a swift rap on the door he settled down to wait, thankful for the moment to settle his pounding heart and anxious breath. It had been months since that day, and more had changed than the now white hair that Senji found himself fingering nervously.
The door began to open, and Senji swiftly thrust his fidgeting hands down by his side. His breath caught in his throat as he watched the gap between door and wall slowly widen. He had to forcefully swallow the lump in his throat before he could bare to focus his eyes once more on the painfully slow moving portal. It took only an instant, but that instant was so packed full of nerves that it was almost an eternity. And in a moment, after he swallowed his anxiety, Senji was the very picture of calm. Just as the man in black had taught him.
