[Plotboard]Team Kino's First Mission! Escort The Builders!

Post by The Legend Excalibur » Tue Apr 17, 2018 2:13 pm

The morning sun had begun it's trek through the lightly cloudy skies that hung above the mountains of Kumogakure. At the gate complex in the Western Mountain, Rami reviewed the details of the mission. It was a simple enough assignment. All they had to do was act as an escort to a small caravan of builders and craftsmen and their materials, to Aiki Village, which was about two days walking distance southwest of Kumogakure. Once there, they'd begin building an outpost, as part of Kumo's recent expansion initiatives.

He put away the mission documents in one of his pouches, before checking in on the builders. "Were just about ready to head out, sir. How about you?", the head builder asked. He was an elderly man, likely in his sixties, but was like a man half his age, his occupation no doubt giving him ample opportunities to keep fit. "I'm just waiting on my student. He should be here in a little while." He'd told Warai about the mission the day before. This would be a good chance at some real field experience, and also help him at least get a little bit familiar with the geography of Lightning Country.

He looked up at the sun. They had a little more time. He hoped Warai made it by then.

Late for his first mission Warai was running toward the group as they where ready to head out. He slowed down to a slight jog when he approached until he stopped in front of Rami. "Sorry for being late we had to go to the store and lost track of time" he said as he stuck his arm out for Gale to land on. He put his hood on and pulled his mask above his nose.

Rami watched as Warai approached. "It's no major problem, Warai. Just don't make a habit out it, eh?", he said with a small smile. "Alright, I think we're ready to go, Mr. Builder." The head builder nodded, and boarded his own wagon, and began to move. Rami would lead them out of the gates of the mountain, and their journey would begin. The caravan consisted of four wagons, each pulled by two oxen, and carrying a variety of materials, from wood, to bricks, to tools. Despite what appeared to be heavy loads, the wagons moved at a relatively brisk pace, being a small bit faster than walking speed.

The two shinobi would walk alongside the wagons, Rami going over a map of the area. They were currently passing through a hilly valley, the landscape curving up and down, the grass on it blowing in the breeze. The trail they took was cut and worn through the hills, so there was little difficulty for the oxen in moving along it. Rami sighed. This may be the safest part of the mission. Bandits this close to Kumo were nearly unheard of, but reports of them increased with the distance from the village. The village they were heading to in fact had a problem with them, which is why an outpost was requisitioned. He looked over at Warai. He seemed like a quiet boy, having not spoken for the past hour or two. Maybe he was nervous? A little conversation might ease him a bit.

"So Warai, this is your first time outside of the village, right? Since you've just become a Genin? Tell me a bit of what you know of Lightning Country."

With this being his first time outside the village Warai observed the land around him making sure to burn the view of the valley into his memory. He let Gale fly freely only giving him the scout command so that the bird stays within a distance so that they could hear each other. He made sure to keep a steady tempo so that he can enjoy the view and keep up with the caravan. Being very curious Gale would often fly ahead so he could peck at the ground and claw at the grass until the caravan approached and then he would take off flying into the air. Warai thought to himself how beautiful the valley was even though it was mainly hills and grass. He would often use his birds eye view jutsu, only closing one eye to get a look at the surroundings from Gale's viewpoint. He was really surprised at how fast the oxen where moving while pulling the caravans. While almost in a day dreaming like state he heard Rami talking to him. He looked up and responded.

"Yea this is my first time being outside the village. I cant believe how beautiful it is out here. As far as all I know about the lightning country is the seven kingdoms, Murakami, Fujiwara, Kusakabe, Nakatomi, Hashiji, Hojo and Akechi use to rule over the land of lighting. They didn't have sufficient amounts of all required resources in order to support their citizens. They could each sometimes go years without needing aid, however they would always be required to acquire resources from their neighbouring kingdoms, through trade or war. The kingdoms soon began an era of war for control over the entire region. The Hojo kingdom won the war thanks to their ingenuity. Since the lightning country is so big the Hojo kingdom made themselves into Daimyo, of an entirely new country, now known as the Lightning Country. The Hojo absorbed what was left of the other kingdoms and made them administrators of the lightning country. This to me was a smart idea because it would be hard to remain in control of an entire nation of people that you where just at war with. Once the era of shinobi came and the kingdoms started to not produce heirs the lightning country made a huge change. They decided their wouldn't be anymore kingdoms. With that Kumogakure was formed but the lightning country is said to not be a lively as it once was before. So we have more than enough resources for everybody now. As far as history goes thats all I know. I don't know much about the landscape since I have never been outside the village. Although they do explain it in the academy but I wasn't able to grasp the concept of things that I couldnt see myself." he said while scratching his head.

He whistled softly signaling Gale to call back to check their distance. Once Gale screeched out after hearing the Warai he continued to fly around freely.

Well, he was knowledgeable in the countries history, that was certain. But it was important for a shinobi to be familiar with the enviroment of their home. Knowing where you were fighting or operating was just as important as knowing who you were fighting. "Well, then is a perfect time to help you learn. Right now, were going through the Curving Valley. It's one of the safest paths in Lightning Country due to its proximity to Kumo. Barely any bandit activity, even more so recently, because of the high shinobi traffic that comes through it. It's just one of several routes from the south to reach Kumogakure, though." he explained. He noticed as Warai whistled, and his falcon screeched back in response.

"I noticed you had one of your eyes closed for a bit. Is that a cooperation jutsu with Gale?" He'd met a few shinobi who owned nin-companions, the most often being cats or dogs. Konoha had an entire clan where each member had a nin-kin. Jutsu like that was extremely valuable in combat, support... scouting. "And if it is, who taught you it? Is it a family jutsu?"

"Curving Valley" Warai said making sure to remember this path well. "It's the Birds Eye View jutsu. I basically close either one or both my eyes and through the closed eye I am able to see what Gale see's, while at the same time he can see what i can see. It's a basic jutsu but it requires a lot of control and trust. I use to train with my mother and father who where good at certain things. Once my mom saw how well me and Gale worked together she taught me about ninja who perform jutsu with their companions. Working as a mail carrier she knows a lot of people. She had a friend of her's sell some scrolls to her that I used to learn some jutsu for me and Gale". He remember back when his mom use to be extremely strict on him and Gale making them train hard everyday. Thinking about this he had a fearful look on his face.

"The thing is I haven't fully mastered it yet so when I use the jutsu I cant really move much and have to concentrate." He said while shaking off the feeling that his mom was hovering over his shoulder.
