A While

The sun was shining and Ryoto was up early. Walking through the, at the moment, empty streets of the village hidden in the clouds. And the clouds right now were pretty scarce. It made him wonder exactly how much cover those clouds provided. It seemed little off that a military village would rely on the cover of clouds when the clouds were not the most reliable of things. One moment they were there, and the other they were not. Leaving something to such hit and miss circumstances was not something he had expected of a village such as this one.

The plan for the day was not very busy. No plans at all, just stroll through the streets and find something to do. But what he did know, was that his stomach was feeling pretty empty. The youth had not eaten since he finished training the night before. Not a very wise move. All the physical training he had done may be done for. The gains would be lacking due to him not feeding his body the nutrients it needed. The boy let out a sigh. He desperately wanted to improve his skills due to the recent events, but training was slow and took time. And patience was not one of his virtues.

Eventually, he came across a food bar. It was one of his favourites, serving all sorts of foods popular in the village; dumplings, soups, ramen, rice bowls. The bar was an oyster. The youth jumped onto one of the stalls and glazed at the menu as the delicious smells suffocated him and made his mouth run. Now he was realising exactly how hungry he was. He needed something nourishing, something that would hit all the nutritional points. Proteins, carbs, fats, and vitamins. A rice bowl loaded with chicken and veg sounded perfect. Soon after the chef made his way to the bar and took the hungry youths order. Now it was just a waiting game. And as he waited he tried to make a plan for what he was going to do. Training was the safest option, but it did not feel like he was living his life just constantly training. The young ninja wanted something more, he wanted some excitement.

It feels like he had not been up-to-no-good in a while. Now the boy was beginning to understand exactly why he was so bored of his day-to-day life. Old habits died hard, especially ones that brought one so much joy. But now that he was a ninja of the village, he had to be careful more than ever. Being disciplined would not lead to anything good. So living somewhat in the safe-lane was a good idea.

Soon, the food came. With some chopsticks he dug straight into it. The different flavours of the rice, chicken, and veg overwhelmed his taste buds and he craved more. And in the end he did end up ordering one more bowl.

A sigh escaped his lips as he waited for the other bowl to come. The boredom set in, and he sat there hoping something would happen. Something or someone would jump out at him, give him some ideas of what to do. Until then, he would simply sit there and eat his chicken and rice and veg. It was a hard life.
